Episode 277 - I Saw Benedict Cumberbatch Smoking a Cigar with Eva Yore

Ben, Brad, and Nate are back after Ben took a long trip around the world. Well, he went to Italy, and Jesus Christ, will he not stop talking about it right out of the gate. Thankfully, this is a movie podcast, so we talk about stuff like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The End of Oak Street, The Dink, Coyote vs ACME, and more. Plus, there's a tiny bit of trailer talk about the latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, as well as a bit of chatter about Brad going to Disney's D23 Expo. Finally, Ben wrote a game! We really are back in the habit! Sister Act 2!

[00:00:16] Hey everybody, it's me! No? The Count from Sesame Street? No, it was my Italian! Hey everybody, it's me! No? Hey everybody, it's Ben Konowitz. With me as always is the Naples to my Florence, Bradford Oman. And that's me! So bad, so bad. And the Rome to my Florence, Nate Loucks.

[00:00:49] Went religious, Brad. Those are the monks. I went Latin. Those are the monks. Sounded racist. Nope, nope, nope, not at all. Rome if she wants to, all around the world. Anyway. Hey everybody. Welcome to another episode of Go Flix Yourself. My name is Ben Conowitz. We always use these chuckleheads. Naples.

[00:01:10] What are you doing? Why are you doing ASMR podcast? Naples, Nate. Naples! Nate pulls. You know why you're Naples? Because Naples is still just one of the worst cities in Italy. Just dirty. That's what they say. But also, I bet you they're crushing it. Like the mafia is still very available over there. Yeah. I'll take the mafia over. You're trash every day. Florence is not trash. You take that back. No. Florence Pugh? Florence Pugh. See, you call Florence Pugh trash? Wow, Brad. Never. Wow. Wow. Why would you do that to Florence Pugh?

[00:01:39] Talk about Florence Henderson. Oh, now we're talking. Get me. What's going on? I was almost going to say something real bad and I stopped myself.

[00:01:48] You know how I get with Florence Henderson. Oh. Hey, Brad. Give her a Brady Bunch of Kids. Okay. No. No. You stop that. Brady Bunch of Kids. Anyway. Hey, buddy. Did you bring a sponsor? You know I did. Yeah? Yeah. Because you know what, guys? It's August. It is August. And no one cares about August. Okay. We're getting into fall. And Ben, I know that means you're getting excited. Oh, boy. Falloween, baby.

[00:02:16] Oh, yeah. You love Falloween. Love Falloween. That stupid made-up bullshit that TJ Maxx sells every fucking season. Nope. It's my thing. Don't you take it from me. TJ Maxx loves Falloween. You know what? I'm coming around on it. Yeah, you are. I won't call it that, but. Nate, he's coming around. You know, I got a treat for you guys. And I want you to try it out. But don't look at this package. Don't tell me what to do. You're always snooping. You're always snooping. You're always snooping. You're always trying to look at every part of the bag. Whoa. Trying to sneak around. Jesus Christ. I see a P. We started.

[00:02:46] Four minutes ago. Don't. We don't need this level of hospitality. You guys went to an 11 right there. You're literally showing me the bag. Yeah, you are absolutely. You fucking idiot. You can't see the part that's. Just stop. Just stop. Don't look at the bag right there. Don't look at the bag of Lay's Potato Chips. I'm going to show you Lay's Potato Chips. Why are you the way you are? What are you doing? That is perfectly you. That is perfectly you. You know that.

[00:03:12] You know that's you. Take the treats. Get them out of there. Put them in your mouth. I don't even care anymore. Don't look at the bag. Jesus, I thought you didn't care. Oh my God, this smells like alcohol. Are you trying to get us drunk? I wish. What? Don't ever say it like that ever. If somebody says that, that's not the reply. All right, to our listeners, these are like gummies. Oh, I don't like this sound at all. No, I don't like the sound of you chewing that. That doesn't make me good.

[00:03:42] Or heavy. I wasn't sure if they're gushers. They're not gushers. So these are a gummy, a special gummy that's been pretty popular. They're called peelers. Don't look at the flavor. I don't know what it is. Banana? I wouldn't have gotten that. Banana? He always guesses banana. No, I don't. Potato Chips. Banana? No, I don't. Is this banana? No, it's apple cider donuts. I was not going to get that. No. It tastes like banana. It definitely. Nope. No.

[00:04:11] It definitely tastes like apple cider, but it doesn't taste like apple cider donuts. Oh my gosh. There's a key difference. You've ever been to Garwood's here in La Porte? Yes. And they have apple cider donuts. Not the same. These are just apple cider gummies. I don't know why they just went with apple cider donuts because these are just gummies. They're not bad gummies though. No, no, it's a good flavor. I like the apple cider flavor. I just wish they tasted more like apple cider donuts, like the bag says. Ben, what do you think? Did you like them? I hate this so much. Did you like them? Yeah. Yeah. Did you?

[00:04:42] Why would you lie? I don't know. They're fine. I don't know. Why did we do this? Why did we do this? Bring something interesting next time. You want another one? Yeah, I have another one. It just tastes like sugar. Oh my God. You piece of shit health nut. Oh, you want to get your wheat thin? Oh, yeah. Do you have any? Huh? You want a nice cheese crisp? Yes. You want some quinoa? Yes. Piece of shit. I don't want that. I will not eat that again.

[00:05:09] Oh, I lost so much weight. I can't have a gummy. It's too much sugar for me bottom. Is that a Latino woman voice? Only he can do that. Yeah, I know. I can't even get mad. You're doing your best Latino woman. Yeah. Poppy. All right. I don't know what the fuck we're doing anymore. What show is this? I was embarrassed to say that I had this podcast today when I was on the set of Mark's movie.

[00:05:39] You were embarrassed? Okay, you got to tell us about what you did. You went to an adult film set. Kind of. No, friend of the show, Mike Flores, introduced me to Mark Strauss a while back. And Mark's just a great guy. He's a business consultant, but also he's like a real renaissance man, honestly.

[00:06:01] He wrote a short movie that won awards, won like 13 awards and was in 25 different festivals. What's it called? It's called The Funeral Photographer. And it did very well. And so now he's producing and he wrote this thriller called Glued. And I met the actor and Ryan is the...

[00:06:25] Reynolds? No, director. Oh, God. Oh, my God. I can't remember how to say his last name. Ryan Juskiewicz. Yes, thank you. Good Lord. I didn't want to butcher it, but yes. Laporte. Laporteian. Yes, he's directing. And so just to get to see him and Mark at this movie set that they're shooting on location in Laporte, Indiana, at some abandoned factory area.

[00:06:51] And he was nice enough to have me on and watch. Did you get a role? You had to make a cameo? No, I just got to watch them shoot a couple of scenes. And it was great. It was really, really... I mean, I've been on sets with my brother out in L.A. I got to see a lot of behind the scenes stuff. He was in the film industry, Brad. Ew. We're talking about the Lethal Weapon, the TV show. Yeah, and you watched him?

[00:07:13] What? Okay. Anyway, you're weird. But anyway, so yeah, it's a real, like, legit professional film set. Like, they're very high quality. They have craft services. You know, there's multiple set locations. Everything looks exactly like you would find in Hollywood. Well, they have another craft service table. Oh, Jesus, Brad. What I'm trying to say is... It's important. It sets the vibe. It was a great spread, okay? It was a generous spread. Meats and cheeses?

[00:07:38] I'm not getting into the food. Sandwich? It's a real thing? I kind of do want to know. I took a picture of it. No, I didn't. It sets the tone. No, it was because the location did not lend itself to being like, I wouldn't leave meat and cheese out either. Okay. So I give them a full pass because they had bagged everything. So what did they have? Like, chips and pretzels and yogurts. I mean, it was all just there, but it was all just... It looked like a convenience store throw up in the right way.

[00:08:07] Okay. Fine. Okay? So, okay. This is probably... It's definitely an independent film, right? Yeah. What's the budget on this? Oh, gosh. I couldn't even imagine. Okay. I wouldn't even... What is... What is... Positive guests. I don't even know what that would be. This is going to sound... It's hard to know these days. This is going to sound a lot worse than what I mean. Like, this is an honest question. What is the goal for this type of film? I mean, usually with short films, it helps... It's not a short film. No, this is a feature. This is a feature? Yeah.

[00:08:36] Oh, then... Well, I mean, I guess the goal then would be to hopefully you get noticed at a festival and then you get picked up by a distributor who wants to put it in theaters or, you know, put on a streaming service or something like that. Like, that's probably the goal, I would assume, is to just... He's been through enough festivals where he knows the lay of the land now. Yeah. So he does the same thing with a feature. And if you've won awards, then, you know, you've got some doors open and you can, like, take it to certain festivals where they're like, oh, yeah, we would love to play, you know... Your next thing. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:09:02] So then that is the progression kind of like going from, you know, AAA to play in major leagues. Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of filmmakers. But there's a lot of risk in this too, right? Oh, for sure. Let's say even if it's a, you know, $250,000 film, right? Still nothing, right? Somebody still has to pay for that. And I don't know. It just feels like, okay, it's a lot of risk to make this and then put it out there. And this guy seems like a great filmmaker.

[00:09:29] I've got, I'm actually rooting for this big and I like Ryan just gave us a lot. But like, I don't know. It just seems there's so many films made each year, right? That go around a small film fest. We've all probably met small filmmakers that try and try and try. And it just seems, I don't know. I just, I hope it makes it, it would be hard to make it knowing that you're kind of up against a lot. Well, I think that's, but that's the whole consensus of how Hollywood is still being built.

[00:09:57] Where you are, you know, it must suck to go on 400 auditions and never get the part. Of course. So you make 400 films or the equivalent, right? And that's what they're doing. I mean, they're auditioning basically. And I don't mean that in a pejorative sense because to call somebody's effort for a feature length film an audition is insulting. And I want to be very clear. That's art. I mean, they're making something that they believe in and it's awesome to watch it come together. But that being said, are they going to say like, nope, this is what it was intended to be.

[00:10:27] Not the launch pad to the next thing. Of course not. They're very smart people. Plus you do it because you love it too. Exactly. And you can see the love that Mark and them have. I mean, it's just very apparent. Everybody was really great on that set. Well, maybe we should have him on as a guest of the podcast. It'd be fun to have him if he wants to talk about film. But I'm going to bring Mark on the podcast and the lead actor so that he might want to jump in as well. Oh, good. Brad, did you go on Danny sets of films? This week. This week. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:10:57] Of the two of us. Since we recorded last. Film, you know, aficionados. Since we recorded last. Oh, I mean. Have you been on any film sets? No, not really. Okay. Okay. Have you? I saw a lot of film props. Okay. But did you ever see Craft Table or Craft Services? Did you ever see Craft Table? I was trying to be on your side here, buddy. No. Have you ever seen that? Yeah, of course I've seen. I've seen full-on Craft Tables. What was your favorite? I've eaten at Craft Services with the cast and crew.

[00:11:26] I watched Tom Hiddleston in full Loki costume eat a fucking salad on the set of Thor Ragnarok. I saw Benedict Cumberbatch smoking a cigar with Ava Yor. This is a bit like a bracket right now, but what was your favorite? I saw Paul Newman put out his cigarette and Faye Ray's pancakes. Dizzy Gillespie was there. He can tell you all about it. What are we doing?

[00:11:53] No, but I did go to the D23 Expo over in California while you guys were shucking around Italy and, I don't know, Farmville. On Facebook circa 2004? Is your farm doing well on Farmville still? I peed it every day. Peed it every day. But no, D23 was cool. I was there for Disney's Entertainment Showcase.

[00:12:17] They invited us to cover it this year, so I get to go walk the show floor and then see them do presentations for the new Simpsons movie. Did you watch that one live? Yeah, I saw it all live. Nice. I was there in the arena. Oh, so it wasn't pick and choose. Everybody sees everything. Yeah, so the Simpsons did have a separate panel, but that was for the show. This was Disney's Entertainment Showcase for all the movies and TV shows they wanted to promote that are either coming to theaters or to Disney+.

[00:12:45] So it was a new Simpsons movie, Vision Quest, Incredibles 3, Coco 2. Pixar has a new movie called Ghost Market, Frozen 3, Avengers Doomsday. They announced the cast for the X-Men reboot. Saw that, yeah. I didn't see that. Yeah, they had a bunch of stuff that they... Ghost Rider is now... Well, that was Comic-Con. Oh, sorry. Can I ask you a question? They showed the teaser for Star Wars Starfighter, which is the new Star Wars movie that Ryan Gosling is starring in. Oh, I did see that, but I didn't see anything about the X-Men stuff.

[00:13:14] Can you say real quickly, like, any major cast members? Yeah, so it all had... Most of them had kind of hit the trades before they were officially announced. Everyone kind of knew they were going to officially unveil them at D23. But a guy named Kit Connor is playing Cyclops. Sadie Sink is Jean Grey, of course. Spoiler alert if you haven't seen Spider-Man Brand New Day, but that's who she's playing in that movie. And then Indy Navarrete from Obsession is playing Rogue. Samara Weaving is playing Emma Frost.

[00:13:45] And then a newcomer, a relatively newcomer, her name is Maya Boyd. She's playing Storm in the movie. And that's all they've announced so far. Oh, and Christopher Abbott is playing Professor Xavier. But Mr. Sinister. And yes, in a sneaky announcement, Adam Driver appeared by way of a video from Pinewood Studios in London, and he's playing the villain, Mr. Sinister. But they did it in a secretive comic fan way. I mean. Nathaniel Milbury. Right. So that was pretty fun. But yeah, there's some cool stuff coming.

[00:14:13] And to show you who attends D23, when he said that, the audience went... They had to look it up. Nobody knew in that room who knew. Some people cheered, but yeah. Yeah, there was a smattering of applause. Honestly, I didn't even know. No, exactly. It's a deep cut. Yeah, it's a very deep cut. But... It's an alias that he went by at one time in a comic somewhere. It's a very deep cut. Yeah. So that's just crazy, though, that... Because if you did this at Comic-Con in the 90s, everybody would have flipped out,

[00:14:41] because the nerd culture has exploded and gotten so much bigger, obviously. The funniest thing was the psycho they did when he said, I'll be playing Magneto. Yeah, yeah. And he's like, no. No? No. Not Magneto. Okay. Yeah. No, that was good acting. Mm-hmm. Ha, ha, ha. Acting. Acting. But yeah, D23 was fun. Got to see a lot of cool stuff on the show floor and had a good time. What are you most excited about? The thing that I was most impressed by, I think, was probably... Honestly, the tease for Frozen 3 was very cool.

[00:15:10] Ah, see, that was the thing I'm like, oh, another Frozen. No, but... But you like Frozen 2 better. Hey, man, let it go. I do. Oh, boy. But no, that was good. Vision Quest looks very cool. It's the kind of... The reboot of the 90s? No, it's the Vision show. Yeah, it's a show with Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader as Ultron. I wasn't doing a bit.

[00:15:33] And it's kind of like the conclusion of the trilogy of WandaVision and Agatha all along. Okay. So he's not gone. James Spader's character. So this is the kind of thing where I think it partially is taking place in Vision's head. Okay. And so it's like a manifestation of Ultron. I think that looks interesting. It looks very... No, it looks surprisingly cool. Yeah. I'm one of those... I think James Spader's just incredible. He is. He's great. He's amazing. I don't know that you're going to find too many detractors there, Nate.

[00:16:03] Brad. No, I love James Spader. No, that is not what you said before we started this podcast. First of all, you're lying right now. It's like saying you don't like Rob Lowe. Exactly. Why are we out against Rob Lowe? You telling me I'm lying is a lie, and you know that that's a commandment. It's like saying you don't like Timothy Oliphant. What's wrong with you? I've been in a room by myself with Timothy Oliphant. Yeah. Is he magnetic? He probably smells of mango. No, I bet he smells of manned. Oh, yeah. There's a musk there. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. But is he magnetic?

[00:16:32] No, I feel like he's probably more like a... It's like a dustwood. Like a dustwood cologne. Like a manly scent cologne. Cologne-y. Why are you talking like Jiminy Glick? What? No, that was him. A dustwood cologne. That's us driving. Why? Why? Why? When you put on your fragrance, what's your fragrance that you like? Is it just a cologne? Every time it happens... I was alone in a room.

[00:17:01] Every couple days, Jiminy Glick with Bill Hader comes on my Instagram. That's so funny. And I can't not watch it. Every freaking time. It is a great frustration of mine that most of the full episodes of Jiminy Glick have been lost to time. Like, they're somewhere, and someone needs to figure out how to get them out officially or even unofficially. Like, just upload them online or something. We've had this exact conversation on this show. I want it so bad. I just want to watch all of them. We get it, buddy. I want it. Okay. Gimme! You're a Glicky. Gimme the Glick!

[00:17:31] You're a Jonathan Glicky! Gimme the Jiminy! Gimme the Jiminy! Gimme the Jiminy! Gimme the Jiminy! Is that what you just said? I said, gimme the Jiminy. It's been a long three weeks. Gimme the Jiminy! We've been podcasting so long. Yeah, no. Seriously. I was in Italy. And now I'm back. If I never hear that again. Just today alone. I went to Italy, and then I came back. Well, first you go to Naples, and then you go to Florence, and then down to Rome, and then you gotta go to the Amalfi Coast. It's like Amalfi Coast.

[00:18:01] Yeah. Yeah. Gotta check out a yacht party. Went to my friend's wedding. Yeah. And, you know... I had a ravioli, tiramisu. Yes, yes. A coliseum. Yeah, a coliseum. Mmm, so sweaty. I was very sweaty. Anyway. Do you guys see any movies? Yeah, I watched... Not you! I want to hear about your Italian cinema experience. I had one. Great. We'll talk about it later. Nate, what's the last movie you saw? Uh... You're mean. The new Spider-Man film. Ooh! We haven't talked about this yet. Have you seen it? Yeah, I've seen it.

[00:18:32] I've seen it, too. We've all seen it? I've missed about 20 minutes in the middle, but yeah. Did you fall asleep? No. First of all, fuck you, okay? And that was organic. You weren't doing a bit, because this is the first thing you thought of. It was too quick. Well, you're tired. You're not like, did you fall asleep? Like, you knew that I did fall asleep. I didn't fall asleep. That's all you say. Well, but what did you do? Yeah, what did you do? Take a long shit? Sometimes people have to go to the bathroom. You know that. No! I would tell you if I took a shit. First of all, you're the only one who has to do that.

[00:19:00] We don't go to the bathroom during movies, because we're manly men who know how to hold ourselves. Oh, okay. I don't have prostate problems. Good God. Get yourself checked, fellas. We were up in Michigan at a theater that is a one-room schoolhouse theater. Just one screen. One-room schoolhouse theater. That's what it feels like. It's just a very basic theater, but it's old, 1919.

[00:19:26] And they play one movie a night, and it's at 7 o'clock, and it's Spider-Man until they bring in the next new release. And that's just how they do it. And tickets are five bucks. How was the screen and sound quality? Incredible. Really? It was perfect. Was it big? Yeah, huge. Normal size. Real big. Was it... Compare it to the theater in Three Oaks, and this matters for five people. No. I would not use the term better. Bigger?

[00:19:51] I just feel like probably the building is better restored, the equipment, the maintenance of the thing. Just by... And I want to be very clear. By no fault of the ownership currently of the Vickers Theater. No, not at all. No. It's incredible. Yeah, no. I'm just... But by default... I just want the size comparison. But that's what I'm saying, is because everything is still kind of ornate, and from 1919 and all fully restored, it feels very big. Yeah. And so I feel like it might be the size of Three Oaks. Oh, okay. But I feel like...

[00:20:21] Yeah, I think it's a little bigger. Okay. I'll figure it out later. But to say that tickets were five dollars, concessions were 28 bucks, and that was like a litany. You took the two boys, and how much was it? And it was... Yeah, the whole package deal was $43 for the three of us to watch the movie and have cotton candy, cotton candy, popcorn, popcorn, soda, soda, water, bottle of water, and three candies.

[00:20:50] There's a movie theater about... That's all for 28.50. There's a movie theater about $43 for the seven o'clock show. And so that's why they look at it like a non-profit. As long as the bills are paid, and it's technically one penny in the black, that's fine. But my thing is, if you're not going to do IMAX, do that. Yes. Right? That's better than AMC is. It's so much better. And so to the point, though, if you don't know how it works, you go buy a ticket for the seven o'clock show, you get your treats, and you go in.

[00:21:18] And then at 8.05, when Hulk is probably about to fight, that's a real good time to realize that the concession stands closes at 8. And so they just are done. You can't go get a refill. And I had promised Ender that he could have some of my Sprite, and I drank it all. And I was like, oh, no big deal. I'll just go get a refill. And she's like, I'm so sorry. She was the sweetest little wonderful person. And they even stacked up the popcorn that was additional in stacks on top of the trash

[00:21:47] can near the exit to take when you leave. Oh, nice. Like, that's the kind of theater this is, right? And she was so sweet. She's so sorry. And I go, is there just like a gas station I'm going to walk to? Because I promised him to go, you know, Sprite Zero. And she's like, yeah, it's that. And so I walked. It's about a seven-minute walk. So I just walked down to the gas station while they watched the movie and walked back. And I had extra treats and stuff for them. I just wanted to have a good movie experience. So, and so you missed part of it? I missed about 20 minutes. And I feel like it's the, when I asked Rune what it was, and he said it was the main scene

[00:22:17] between Peter Parker and the Hulk. Yeah. Wow. So that was a pretty big miss. So the movie, in my opinion, it was okay. Uh-huh. But I feel like it was missing something. I can't really put my finger on it. Nate, what did you think about Spider-Man or Day? Okay. I thought it was very good. Yeah. I thought it was very good. I am one of those, though. I don't get into celebrity couples, but I am 100% pro-Tom and Zendaya.

[00:22:47] Uh-huh. And I transfer my love for them into this film. Uh-huh. And I want them to be together. Who doesn't? And that just kind of, you know, wasn't as satisfied at the end of this as I wanted to be. Let's just say that. So, but the film is great. Tom Holland is my favorite Spider-Man. I'll say it. Yeah. He's my favorite Spider-Man. He's my favorite Spider-Man. He's so good. The writing was good.

[00:23:13] Like, it was just, like, it is just a good series. They have what Iron Man was for me. When Iron Man came, would come out, it was like, I trust Iron Man. Like, I just trust that. And I feel like Spider-Man has that for me as well. It's not that every film is perfect, but every film is worth seeing. But this is going to be well above average and worth seeing. Tom Holland's great. Zendaya's great.

[00:24:03] Yeah. A lot. And I wasn't sure how it was all going to come together. And honestly, everything comes together really nicely. Yeah. There wasn't a single, the one part that I don't think quite fits in very well is the ninjas. I recognize that they're there for cool action sequences. And those action sequences do deliver. Yeah. But it's a little bit silly that the ninjas are there working for the government. It's like, I don't know about that. I mean, if that's, though, where you're going to lose your sense of disbelief, then what are we doing here? Yeah. Like, it only bothered me so far.

[00:24:33] But for me, the most satisfying part of this movie is both the narrative and the emotional arc that Peter Parker goes on. It is done so well. And even to the point that every single Marvel Cinematic Universe cameo has a part to play in furthering his story. Even the one that's a little bit more casual and funny and stuff like that, Yelena Belova, having Florence Pugh pop up in it.

[00:24:59] Every single person has something to offer that helps Peter on his journey. And they all have their own baggage that they bring to the table to help with that. And I really appreciated that. And the story is just good, too. Having Jean Grey be the villain of this movie doesn't feel contrived. It doesn't feel forced. It doesn't feel like they're doing a thing where it's like, yeah, we're setting up X-Men and then the Spider-Man movie's in service of that.

[00:25:26] Jean Grey's story and her own arc in this movie just happens to align in a very cool way with Peter's story and what he needs to understand in this movie as well. I agree. And it's just done extremely well. I was very impressed. I was very happy with it. And it was really refreshing in a series of Marvel movies that has mostly been disappointing. Well, and the sad thing is it's not doing very well. It's not remotely true.

[00:25:52] Spider-Man, like Batman, has proven to be quite averse to the superhero fatigue that people seem to be feeling. What do you think it's made? Has it crossed two billion yet? Yes. It's 2.2 billion. It crossed a billion its first weekend. Yeah. It's just incredible. But also, I'm happy with that. No, it deserves it. To your point about the emotional kind of resonance of this film, I felt like in No Way Home, they decided to get Spider-Man a little more emotional.

[00:26:19] There were some scenes there that I genuinely got kind of teary about. And the actors played it well. It was when I think Marvel is really beautiful. You know I'm a huge Scrubs fan. When you can balance multiple emotions in a movie and do it authentically, especially in a comic book movie or an action movie, it's just so good. And I felt like No Way Home had that for me.

[00:26:45] I got emotional about the end scene and he's saying, you're not going to remember these things. Yeah. Okay, if you're going to commit to that, commit to that. And they did and it works. And Tom Holland's a very good actor. He's very sincere. Also, innocent enough. And he's just really good. I love it. Also, on a side note, the action in this movie is the best action of any Spider-Man movie. Agreed.

[00:27:09] They created this, like the web slinging and the fight sequences have such an incredible kinetic energy to them. The way the camera moves, the way Spider-Man moves. I was so afraid you weren't going to like this movie, by the way. No, I loved it. I'm so glad you did. I was so happy to love it. And my nine-year-old Ender is obsessed with Spider-Man, obviously, like all nine-year-olds. And he loves it when it's the first-person perspective. Yeah. And he says it out loud. So when we watched No Way Home, that was, I think, the first time that – well, maybe not.

[00:27:39] But it was – because we've been watching all the Tom Hollands. They did some of the first-person stuff in Amazing Spider-Man. Okay, because I'm trying to remember – because they really do come together. Which one was which? But I know they also do it in the Tom Holland one now to the effect of, obviously, through the mask. And you see him in the mask, too. Yeah, yeah. That's an interesting vibe there. But the first person, he will call it out every time. He can't help himself. Like, ooh, I like – ooh. He really wants it from that perspective. I cannot wait to show him Hardcore Henry. And Doom.

[00:28:09] Oh, my God. Yes. Another shout-out. We did not mention Jon Pernthal. I thought he was great in this. Yeah. Everyone, honestly. So the test of a good tie-in movie when you're trying to connect the dots to the next step, right? It's always, in my opinion, the lynchman is usually the villain. In any comic book movie, the villain means a make or break for a good movie. But especially in these ones where you're trying to set something up,

[00:28:37] if the movie can exist on its own without having to tie anything in and it still works because you don't even think about that, then that's the sign of a really great one. And I never once thought about what this could mean for the series when I found out it was Jean Grey. It never hit my – oh, this is why they're going to do that. Yeah. I was still so into this story. Yeah, exactly. And plus, they do such a good job of making it feel like it's a universe where they're not having the characters appear just for a wink and a nod.

[00:29:04] They're there because they're just part of the world. Right. And they can just appear. And it's not just fan service, but it's easy for the characters to just move in and out of each other's stories, and it makes sense. Yeah. I was even fine when I saw Daredevil as the potential lawyer for Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Yeah. That didn't jar me. But that's an example of – even though it's funny and it's a nice little sequence, it doesn't add much to the story. Right, right. No, yeah.

[00:29:34] And the hope is that they're laying the groundwork for something later when it all comes together, right? But that scene did have a lot of significance because it was the first cameo from a Marvel series into – like that was the first one, I think, right? You are probably right about that. I think so. I think that's why that was so significant. Because you've got to get there, obviously, through some path, and they chose that one. But that's why. So what did you see, Benny? I mean, a lot of Spider-Man. We saw Spider-Man, the Amazing Spider-Man 2,

[00:30:02] and we saw the No Way Home. What did the kids think about Amazing Spider-Man 2? We fast-forwarded it a little bit because they were getting real bored when it wasn't just action scenes. And even when it was action scenes, they were like, what? They were just questioning the logic. You also don't – like this family famously doesn't like Andrew Garfield. Can you unpack that a little bit? Oh, my God. Oh, let me tell you this. Hold on. Andrew Garfield is innocent in Amazing Spider-Man. That's not – Oh, yeah. No, no. He's done nothing wrong in that movie. Oh, no. He's fantastic. Giant fan. How dare you? No way.

[00:30:31] How dare you? Don't even make it seem like Garfield did anything wrong. But also, in No Way Home, I think everyone's like, oh, I want to see Andrew Garfield in a better Spider-Man movie. I was watching Hot Ones with Dave Franco. The episode just hit. What's he like in person? He's great. So I hit – I played it and Ender's sitting next to me just nonchalantly playing Minecraft on his device. And he looks up and he looks down and he goes, that guy smiles.

[00:31:00] He looks like Harry. And I didn't really understand it at first. And then when I put two and two together, like, oh, my gosh. And then I paused. I was like, when he was smiling, I went back and I go, so you're saying that – say that again. He looks like who? Harry from Spider-Man. And I'm like, you know why? And he goes – and then Rune goes, is that the same actor? And I go, nope. Yes, we got him again. That's his brother. Oh, they were a little tiny mind blown. That's funny. They could not figure that out. Just tell them that James Franco is canceled.

[00:31:30] Yeah, actually we did. Yeah, it's good. I'm not joking. We said, yeah, we don't really like to talk about Mr. James Franco anymore. He did some bad stuff. And so we just don't talk about him anymore. Yeah. Canceled culture. Yep. Seth Rogen doesn't even talk to him anymore. I mean, listen, if that's the judgment, I'm fine with it because Seth Rogen knows him a lot better than I do. No, and Seth Rogen's a good dude. Exactly. Yeah. Anyway. I'd love to take care of your kids. He makes pots. And pans? No, he makes pots. Oh, yeah. No, he does make pots. He doesn't. He's a potterist. He does.

[00:31:59] I don't know if that's the word. All right. It's potter. Potney. Anything else? It's potter. Anything else you saw? Sorry. I saw A League of Their Own. First time? The series. The series. I saw A League of Their Own. The movie. The series. The band. The series. No, yeah. I saw the original movie with Tom Hanks and Madonna. Had you never seen it? I saw it once when I was a kid. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. So this is great though. This is absolute fan-frickin-tastic.

[00:32:29] Penny Marshall's great. It's a love letter to so many things. Yeah. But cinema, almost. Almost. I feel like it's the love letter to cinema through the lens of this baseball. It's beautiful, man. It is. It's a peaceful movie. Even when it's supposed to be a little crass, it's not. It's saccharine and loving. It's a good home-cooked meal. That's what A League of Their Own is. It is. And Tom Hanks, he's going places. That boy can act. He's really in this film. Man. Absolutely. That one is really good.

[00:32:58] Geena Davis is very good in this. It is, for me, it is like a definitive 90s film. Like, especially early 90s. Absolutely. You know, probably Green Tomatoes, that kind of era of films. Kazam. But those are the films that... Kazam. Jesus Christ. Three Ninjas Kickback. Oh, yeah. Let's be honest though. Knuckle Lop's better. I don't even know what you're doing. I don't know if I've seen any of them.

[00:33:27] Yeah, that's... That was more your era. You've seen The Three Ninjas. That was after our time. I don't know if I have. That was after our time. It really was. The first Three Ninjas movie is awful. And it's hilarious. My brother remembers it, of course. That was your era. I feel like it was three years too old for it. We missed it by about two or three years. You were already whacking it by that point. Oh, yeah. We were whacking it. Oh, for sure. And then also playing other sports like basketball and baseball. Yeah. And beating off. You're so crass.

[00:33:55] Another one that was big in that era was Lori Petty. Do you remember Lori Petty? Of course. Yeah. How can you forget? She was in that. And she had like a... For like... It was like for like three years. She had a little arc there. She was like the... The Indian girl. Female Pauly Shore. And that's because they were together in the army now. Yeah. Which I believe is true. That is true. Yeah. See, I know what I'm talking about. She was in Free Willy, A League of Their Own, Poetic Justice. She had a streak there.

[00:34:25] And then you always wonder what happens. You know? Because it's not like... It's usually drugs. Jesus! It's usually drugs! And then you're like... I mean, what usually happens is... I don't know. Whitney Houston, Kurt Cobain. Oh, never mind. It is. It's off of drugs. I know. Oh, boy. That's funny, though. Did you see any other films or no? No, that's it. That's everything. That's another song. Moving on. Thanks for asking.

[00:34:53] Shut up, you ugly slut. Hey! Oh, I know. I saw The Dink. Ew. No, I mean the movie The Dink with... Ew. No. What's his... Jake Johnson. Jake Johnson. Jeez, oh, please. Jake Johnson. Oh, how is that? I love Jake Johnson. I love Jake Johnson so much. There's so many... Honestly, so if I'm breaking it down, I don't know that it's actually... I hate to say it, but I don't know if it's worth the time. Right. But the things that are great about it are the chemistry of the actual actors. I would say Mary...

[00:35:23] Jake Johnson's great in this, isn't he? Oh, yeah. He's Jake Johnson, so he's fantastic. If you like that brand, you like that brand. And I love him. But him and Mary Steenburgen have a really interesting relationship in this movie, and I like that part of it. And the relationship with the dad is one note, kind of as that relationship, it's very, very typical. And they could... I think... It's Ed Harris, man. You can do more with Ed Harris than what they did. And that's why I was a little disappointing there.

[00:35:52] And of course, all the physical comedy, I could give a shit. That's the fart joke stuff that I don't like. It wasn't... Farts? No, no. It wasn't too much like that, but like... You know, just like... Mary Steenburger. Like, there's a scene... We call them Steenburgers. There's a Steen... There's a scene... There's a Steenburger. There's a Steen... Oh, my God. There's a scene where they like... Where Fortune Feimster and another comedian play opposite pickleball people, and they have

[00:36:22] to beat them by like out grunting them sexually. And it's like, what is this for? This is not... This is outside the universe. It feels a little Adam Sandler. Yeah, exactly. It's like, there's no... And there's plenty in there that make me go, this isn't great. Yeah. But then, again, it comes back to Mary Steenburgers can act her tits off, and she's incredible. Has anyone ever said that about Mary Steenburgers? Also, like... Like, yeah, I mean... Okay. You were looking at your phone, so I was trying to get your attention, and your face popped up.

[00:36:51] Because I was checking my list, and the way you said that. Your face... You went straight up. That was amazing. I thought she was like ass or something like that. No, he was... Get her tits off. It was on his phone, so I wanted to shock him. It has like a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, so it's... No, it's more good than bad for sure. It's just there's plenty of mundane problems and a little one-note relationship. There's certainly the 25%. Yeah. But again, it's a good use of Andy Roddick. So that's cool.

[00:37:19] They really got him, and he's really in the movie, and that's a lot of fun. Yeah. And I don't know. I just... I also feel like the topic itself, Pickleball, I mean... Yeah. That's the boat. Will anybody care in five years? Yeah. But anyway, I still will support anything that Jake Johnson does. Okay. Me too. All right. Well, I took your kids to see a movie, too, actually. Yeah, you did. Yeah. We went to go see Minions and Monsters. Oh, how was that? Actually, you know what? It's really good. Okay, good, because you don't like Minions usually. Yeah, you don't like them. We've been telling you for years.

[00:37:48] We've been on the Minions camp for years. They're so good. They're so funny. They put them in camps? Well, yeah. That's when they worked for Hitler. That's funny. What's funny is there were questions from people during the press tour about whether or not it's possible the Minions could have worked for Hitler. They're in a cave. Yeah. Isn't that the story? But there are... Now it's been established. Oh, is this the Cars universe again? Kind of. It's been established that there are other tribes of Minions, so there is probably a sec that could have worked for Hitler at some point.

[00:38:15] Well, if I don't know much, I know that Chet GPT is going to be making an image tonight, Bradford. Oh, I'm sure it's already out there. No, of course it is. But no, it's very good because it takes place primarily during the period of old Hollywood, like the 1920s, 1930s. Oh, cool. And so there's a lot of legit classic film references, and both Ender and Rune understood some of them because you've shown them some Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin shorts as cool stunts that they did, and they showed some of those scenes in the movies. That's awesome.

[00:38:44] I'm glad that my kids didn't let me down. Yeah, no, it was cool. They really liked it a lot, and it's really fun. They did a really good job with it. I actually liked it a lot. I was impressed. Was it your favorite of the Minions films? Yeah, honestly. Despicable Me 2? I would say, I think Despicable Me 3 is pretty good, but this is probably the best of the Minions spin-offs for sure. I'm excited to see it then because I really fall for them every time, man. They can do that stupid language and I'll just laugh. No, it's pretty funny, and there's a lot of fun film references, and it's pretty cool. It's been very well received.

[00:39:14] In case you didn't know, Trey Parker is the voice of the little green monster that's in it. Awesome. Yeah. That's badass. It's very cool. I also saw Super Troopers 3. Did you guys see this? No. Did you guys see this? I would really hope that it's not terrible. It's not terrible. Okay. It's fun. It's perfectly enjoyable. Listen, as a staunch, staunch defender of the first one, I love that film. I think it's an all-timer. It's funny. I know you hate it. I don't hate it. I just don't think it's as funny as everyone thought it was.

[00:39:42] It's absolutely hysterical and you're wrong, but anyway, I was sorely disappointed with Super Troopers 2. Yeah. Super Troopers 3 is not getting great ratings. Spank in my butt. Great reviews. Did you say just spank in your butt? I said it was a real spank in my butt. It's got a lot of weird idioms. What did you call me? So defend this, because again, the reviews aren't great. I don't need to defend it. I'm just going to give my opinion. Is it 13%? What are you talking about? No, it's 50. Oh, that's not- What are you talking about? For a comedy sequel, that's not bad. Yeah, that's great.

[00:40:13] No. Why are you trying to poke the bear, Nate? Look at your little face. It is. Look at the little face he's making. It's a solid comedy sequel. You're adorable. I think the best thing about this is just the dynamic between all of the characters. Just having them together is worth a lot of fun, and there's some great laughs that come from it. But I also appreciated that they refreshed the overall formula by basically making what amounts

[00:40:32] to romantic comedy by having Farva get engaged to Ramathorn's sister, played, of course, by the lovely and talented actress from New Girl. What's her name, Nate? Jess is a friend. Oh. You're just supposed to know off the table. Yeah, you're supposed to be an expert. She's your favorite. Hannah Simone. There you go. Don't love that that took that long.

[00:41:01] Yeah, so she plays Ramathorn's sister. Okay, she's been in one TV show. She's been in a lot of stuff. Anyway, but it's very enjoyable. In five things. I don't think it's quite as frequently. What part of her anatomy can she act off? Oh, boy. I don't think it's quite as frequently funny as the first one, because the first one is funny, and the jokes come pretty fast in that one. This one, it's not quite as laugh out loud funny, but it's enjoyable. Do you think there is at all quotable, do you think? Yeah, there's some funny stuff in here, yeah, that I enjoy.

[00:41:31] That's what I look forward to, is their use of language, even vulgar languages, is still extremely... Yeah. To me, that's highbrow, honestly. No, for sure. To really come up with something that unique these days, where everything's been done. There's some good stuff in it. Dismukes is funny in it. Of course he is. Nat Faxon is funny in it. But John Rudnitsky is funny in it. And yeah, it's good. Chase Crawford also in it. And everyone's funny. It's a good movie. Good. All right. I liked it.

[00:41:58] I also got to interview Jay Chandrasekar and Kevin Heffernan for the movie. So if you want to check out the Slash Film weekly podcast from a couple weeks ago or so, that was pretty enjoyable. Did you tell him I said hi? No, but I actually did mention your brother during the podcast. Did you really? I did, because when we were in college, he would play that German techno song from the first movie all the fucking time. Oh my God. Ad nauseum. I bet he would. Yeah. And so I mentioned, I was like, I have a long relationship with Super Troopers.

[00:42:25] I was just back because I had friends who used to say chicken fucker and say, oh, I got you good, you fucker. And I had a college roommate who would blare the German techno song by Bubbles all the time in my dorm room. That's amazing. So that was pretty good. Jay Chandrasekar got to hear that. Yeah. And Kevin Heffernan. Oh, yeah. Mission complete. Alex Conowitz, mission complete, buddy. He made it. Have you guys seen anything else? I'm trying to think if there was anything just recently. No, just the dink was the last.

[00:42:52] I started watching the new season of Ted Lasso. Oh, the season four with the lady team? Yep. How many episodes have there been? Three. Yeah. I don't know if I want to know if it's good or bad yet. They play soccer. I don't know if I want you to paint it for me. Okay. Can we talk about when? No, no. It's been three episodes. I think I've heard it's okay. It's getting better. It can't ever be what it was, though. No, it's getting better. And so I've got to set my expectations so low.

[00:43:22] A lot of people fell away in season three. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of people didn't like season three. I was fine with season three. It wasn't my favorite season, but I was still grateful for it. No, I was very thankful for it. But this is different. And you have to let it be a little bit different. The first episode was a waste. It was just like, where have they been for three years? Right? And it just felt very like, okay, reintroducing you to the show. I didn't need that. Sure. It wasn't that great. Second episode became better.

[00:43:50] Third episode, they're starting to get the rhythm again. Sure. And it's becoming the show you love. So I'm anxious to see. I mean, I'm going to watch the entirety of the whole season. I'm anxious to see what this is going to be. Like, a new episode comes out this week on Wednesday. I'm excited to see because I feel like they're finding their rhythm again. But I feel like they had this conversation in the writing room. Okay, we need to catch people up. And I'm like, eh, those episodes aren't great. No, that's fair. But it's very good.

[00:44:19] I don't know if it'll ever be the first season chemistry or the second season. But I love that it's back. I need a world with Ted Lasso in it. So what time are we at? Nate, do we have time for trailers and a game? Do you think? I have two more things I want to talk about real quick. That's okay. All right. We'll do just trailers then. Go ahead. Fucking asshole. I saw the end of Oak Street, which I know you guys have been busy. And you've been, I don't know, like gallivanting.

[00:44:49] And hoofing and whatever the hell you do. What are you talking about? You guys need to go see The End of Oak Street. This movie is awesome. I absolutely love this movie. It is so much fun. It has the spirit of an Amblin movie. Like it just, it feels like something that Steven Spielberg would have produced. It is produced by J.J. Abrams. To me, this is the movie that J.J. Abrams desperately wanted Super 8 to be. And Super 8 is pretty good. Super 8 is pretty good. Super 8 is pretty good. No, it's pretty good.

[00:45:16] But it is missing something where it doesn't quite reach. It's not all time great. It's not E.T. You know, it's not that. But it's really good. I don't want to say that it's good. It's very good. I think it's pretty good. I think it's very good, man. I started, it started to, I liked it a lot when I first saw it. And then in repeat viewings, I felt like it, it was, it started to feel like it was trying too hard. And it didn't quite have the, like the authentic heart that you wanted. The kids are great in it. They're the driving force. They make it work pretty well.

[00:45:46] Otherwise, it just, it felt like it was really trying to be E.T. And it never quite got there. End of Oak Street feels like a more authentic chance to pull that off. It has an earnestness to it. It has, at times, it can be a little bit cheesy, you know. But it's got a big beating heart to it. Both Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor are outstanding in it. It's a cool story.

[00:46:11] It doesn't shy away from the scariness, from the suspense, from the danger, you know, all that. It's just really well done. And I really liked it a lot. And there are some really interesting surprises that I don't want to spoil or talk about at all. But there are two genuinely shocking moments in the movie where I was like, I wasn't expecting at all. Okay. It's good stuff. If you haven't seen it. I heard there's dinosaurs. Oh yeah. There's lots of dinosaurs. Dinosaurs? Lots of dinosaurs!

[00:46:41] Okay. Hey! Can we play a game now? No, I got one more movie. Oh my God. And it's only because it comes out- The game is called I Kill Myself and I Win! Bang! Thank God we all win. I only want to talk about it because it comes out this week and I just watched a screener for it. And that is Coyote vs. Acme. I was hoping you would talk about it. The reviews on this are outstanding. Yeah. This movie is a blast.

[00:47:07] Just like Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, this is a perfect spiritual successor to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The combination of animation with live action, the love that there is for Looney Tunes here. Will Forte is fantastic and funny. The storyline that they have and how they use Acme, it has a relevance that isn't something that they beat you over the head with. It's just something that you're like, yeah, that's pretty clever, the way that they use

[00:47:34] Acme as a proxy for any corporation, basically. And it's just, yeah, it's a lot of fun. There's a lot of cool- I told the boys I would take them to the theater to see this. It's absolutely worth it. Lots of fun little cartoon cameos. And they weren't going to release this, right? Warner Brothers, they didn't want to. And then Ketchup Entertainment had to buy it to release it themselves because Warner Brothers wasn't going to because David said that's a piece of trash. Who owns Ketchup Entertainment? What is this?

[00:48:04] They're their own small distribution outlet that they just- And I hope they make a billion fucking dollars. I did too. I hope people turn out to see this movie. I hope that the buzz around it and the fact that Warner Brothers wasn't going to release it. And I hope that the classic love for Looney Tunes really gets people in the theaters. Yeah. The nostalgia for stuff like Space Jam. Do you know who wrote the story for this? Quentin Tarantino. James Gunn, partially. Yeah, James Gunn, yeah. Sorry, it's Quentin Tarantino. Maybe this is going to be his final one.

[00:48:34] Wow. But no, it's a lot of fun. Take your kids to go see it. It's a blast. It's very funny. Super enjoyable. And yeah. How adult is it? No, not adult at all. Like, I mean, it's- You can take an eight-year-old at night. Yeah, it's made for families for sure. Yeah. We're totally going to do that. It's even more tame than like Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Wait, you said Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I'm like, okay, is it? Yeah, that's pushing- Who Framed Roger Rabbit has a little more edge to it, but this is very- Ender didn't like the dip at all. Oh, that's scary. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:49:04] That's the kind of stuff that like you like being scared by as a kid. I'm like, get up to the screen real close. And like this part is so funny. And then it was like- And he ran out of the room. I'm like, yeah, what an idiot. No. But yeah. Of course I didn't do that. For the record. Please take your family to go see Coyote vs. Acme. It is undoubtedly worth it. And if you don't, you don't like your family. All right, you want to take that one again? And go. Oh, please take your family and go see Coyote vs. Acme.

[00:49:34] Okay, wait, hold on. That sounds like you're saying, like, take your family and spay and neuter them. Please take your family to the theater. I've been Bradford Oman. Yeah. You okay, buddy? You're going to love seeing Wile Coyote act his tits off. So dumb. You guys want to play a game? Do you want to play a game or do you want to do trailers? I mean, I got to go to bed here soon. Oh, I got to go to bed. Whoa. Who fuck cares? Whoa. Did you just say who fuck cares? Yeah, it's Monday.

[00:50:04] Jesus. Well, I'm glad that you said the word the because that is what my game is based on. Okay. I'm not joking. Go on. It's wonderful. Do it. Come on, do it. Who let the games out? Who? Brad. Brad. And Ben and Nick. Who let the games out? Brad. Brad. Brad. Ben and Nick. All right. That's it. Did you use chat GPT? I did not. That is. How? What percentage do you believe him? Five.

[00:50:36] This game is called the no, the no, the no game. The no, the no game. The no, the no, the game. The no, the no, the game. Yes. Okay. You'll need to know if there is no the in the title of a movie. Ooh. Or if there is a the or multiple thes, where are they in the title? Ooh. So the answer will either be the correct title of the film. Correct. Or you'll say no the. Right.

[00:51:07] To let me know that you aren't falling for that shit. Ooh. And the word the does not appear in the title of the movie. If you think there isn't a the, can we say, I ain't falling for that shit. I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't even have to look at Nate. I don't think we can allow that. Okay. Yeah. Let's take another attempt at that one a little bit later. Okay? Okay. All right. Jesus Christ. What are we doing here? Anyway. All right. As a fun little warm up.

[00:51:38] One guess. Okay. Okay. What's your buzzer sound, Brad? Ugh! Nate, what's your buzzer sound? Ding-a-ling. Okay. All right. Remember, you only get one guess at this. Uh-huh. And it's the fastest one to buzz in. Right. And I need an answer, like, within five seconds, for real. Okay. Okay? Question number one.

[00:52:02] As of March 17th, 2028, there will be 12 Fast and Furious movies. Collectively, how many thes are there in all of the titles put together? The first person to answer wins. Ding-a-ling. Two. Incorrect. And now it's been too long. Oh, what if I have to count, though? Yeah, you can count. That's the thing. You gotta do it quick. You gotta just know. You gotta know. Oh, okay. Well, you can't know. There's 10 titles. That's the guess.

[00:52:32] There's 12 titles. I just said there were 12. Yeah. Oh, jeez, oh, Pete. Yeah, you're done yet. No, it's... How many? Eight. No. Fuck. God, idiot. All right. Well, let's see if I know them all, then. Well, you clearly don't. Well, but... That's the thing. You gave me time. Yeah, I would. Yeah, well, that's the point. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Because if you give Nate time, he wouldn't get it. He didn't do... I didn't get it. It doesn't matter. It does matter. I did ding-a-ling, and then it was like... It's a timed thing.

[00:53:01] No, when it's that many, you can't just, like, know how many thes there are. You have to think of all the titles. That's not fun. It's not even trivia. It's just throwing numbers at a wall and seeing what sticks. I'm so sorry, listen. There's no skill in that. It's just like, ah, seven! You're one of those game players. You're one of those game players. The Fast and The Furious. There's two. Yes. Two Fast, Two Furious. None. Fast and Furious, Tokyo Drift. None. Fast and Furious, none. Fast Five, none.

[00:53:31] Fast and Furious Six, none. Furious Seven, none. The Fate of the Furious, four. F9. That's the title of that one, isn't it? F9. Yeah. The fastest. What's this? Fast X, and then Hobbs and Shaw, or the Fast and Furious presents. So you don't have them. Hobbs and Shaw. So it's The Fast and The Furious, Tokyo Drift. Is it really? Not Fast and Furious. Oh, okay.

[00:53:59] And it is also The Fate of the Furious, which you got. F9, The Fast Saga. The Fast Saga. And then Fast Forever. It's seven? It's seven. It's seven. Fast Forever? What's that? That's the currently scheduled one for 2028. Oh, okay. Well, you can't count that one. That's what... It's not out yet. It's... They could change it. What about... What about... Okay, you didn't even fucking... First of all, fuck you. You didn't even listen. Hey! Hey! You know what question one was? Hey! You know what question one was? Did you count Hobbs and Shaw? You know what question one was?

[00:54:29] Did you count Hobbs and Shaw? Do you? Did you count? Yes. Hobbs and Shaw. Because it doesn't have... But you also don't fucking listen because I said as of March 17th, 2028, there will be 12 Fast and Furious movies. And then I said collectively how many thes in there of all the titles. So I started off with as of 2028, meaning including that one.

[00:54:57] But you're also assuming there's not going to be another one in between. You're a fucking moron. First of all, this game sucks. All right. Question number one for real. You ready? Yeah. I'll give you the words out of order and you tell me... You're going to stop in with your buzz. Yeah. And tell me when you know what movie it is and where the the goes. Okay. All right. You ready? Nate, you get the rules? Yeah. What are the rules, Nate? He doesn't know. I got to tell you where the the goes.

[00:55:27] Okay. Bring in when you're ready. Okay. Beasts. Fantastic. Yes, Brad. There isn't one. What if it's the sequel? It's not? It's not the sequel. You got it right. Congratulations. There isn't one. I was thinking through him like, do I not know a word to this long title? Number two. Beasts. Fantastic. Of.

[00:55:59] Crimes. Brad. There's one. But you guys say that. Yeah. Oh, Fantastic Beasts. The Crimes of Grindelwald. I'm never going to get these. Nobody knows these. It's just the name of the movie. I know, but nobody remembers. Everyone's like, you know, the Fantastic Beasts one. The one that came out. All right. Question number three. Make America great again. Glorious Nation of.

[00:56:29] What is it? For. Make. Yes, Brad. There isn't one. Correct. There isn't one. What is this? And what is the title? The title is Borat. How does it begin? Cultural. Cultural. Learnings. Cultural Learnings of Kazakhstan for. No, Cultural Learnings of America for. Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. There's no, there's no the in there, which I found hilarious. All right. Question number four.

[00:56:59] I'll give you eight titles. Eight movies. Okay. That are, that they either have the correct amount of those in them or they don't. Okay. I'm just going to, but I'm rapid fire reading them, Brad. Don't fucking think you're going to get nine hours of answers. You idiot. As he always does. You're. So mad. You're a cum dumpster. Whoa. I'll give you eight titles that you either have the correct amount of those in them or not. You just have to tell me first with one guess right now after reading them once to you. Okay. Buzz in and tell me. Dig a lick.

[00:57:29] Does this list of movies contain only correct titles? Okay. So basically you're going to tell me if these are all. The whole list has to be correct. The whole, every single one of these movies is correct in this list. Okay. Or not. All right. Okay. Captain America, the first Avenger. Captain America, the Winter Soldier. Captain America, Civil War. Thor, the Dark World, the Avengers. Avengers, the Age of Ultron, Avengers, Infinity War, Avengers Endgame. Dig a lick. Yeah. Those are all correct.

[00:57:58] Brad, you want to guess at it? You also want to agree with him? Uh. Go ahead. I'm going to say one is incorrect. Nate, you are incorrect. Brad, you are correct so far. What's the one that is wrong? It's Marvel's Avengers. Oh. Incorrect on the incorrect. You dummy. You're so dumb. It is Avengers Age of Ultron, not the Age of Ultron. Oh. It's the Avengers. Son of a. I don't think you said the Age of Ultron. I think you said Avengers Age of Ultron. I don't. That's why. Yeah.

[00:58:27] Oh, I maybe stumbled over it a little bit. I think you did. Yeah. I would have gotten that. We'd have to go back. But I actually think it's the movie is officially called Marvel's Avengers because they couldn't call it the Avengers because. That's what I was thinking. Why Nate? Because. Go on. Because they couldn't. Why? The rules. I've got it. I've got it down as the Avengers. Avengers Age of Ultron with no the. What I can't. Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. What I can't remember. Because I knew it was Avengers Age of Ultron.

[00:58:57] What I can't remember is whether Marvel's Avengers had to be the title in the US or if it was just internationally because of the British series called the Avengers. I was asking. Shut up, Nate. Question number five. I'm going to give you three movies. You tell me which one isn't correct. Mm-hmm. But you got a buzz in. You ready? The Exorcist. The Exorcist 2. The Heretic. Or The Exorcist 3. Ugh. Brad. 2 is wrong. What is it?

[00:59:26] The Exorcist Heretic. It's not. Really? What do you think it is? Yeah, go ahead. Exorcist 2. The Heretic. It is. Oh, nice. Which is a really weird one that I found. Good job, Nate. I'm winning this. Nate, this one's for you. This one's for you. We're going to change it up a little bit. I'm just joking. I wrote it like this. Nate, this one's for you. Left behind. Is it the left behind? Or the behind? Left. Nate, this one's for you. Okay.

[00:59:56] The newest versions of these franchises. Okay. Is it Batman or the Batman? Joker or the Joker? And is it Kraven the Hunter or just Kraven colon Hunter? It is no the. And it's Kraven. Wait, no, no. It is the Batman. Nope. Hold on. Hold on.

[01:00:25] It is the Batman Joker and Kraven the Hunter. Yes. Yes, it is. We got there. And I'm so proud of you, by the way. You're like, nope. Wait. Hold on. Let me take a step back here. I love you for that. Brad, this one's for you. You're going to mess this up as you always do. Is it Thunderbolts or the Thunderbolts? It's Thunderbolts with an asterisk. You are correct. And I knew that you were probably going to get that one. That's so easy. Nate, this one's for you.

[01:00:56] How many of the four times now that they've done the Fantastic Four has a the been in the titles? Once. Which one was it? The one that they used it. He's wrong. What do you think the answer is, mister? It's two and it's two different titles. Okay, go ahead. What are they?

[01:01:20] It's Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer and Fantastic Four or the Fantastic Four First Steps. There you go. Exactly right. I've never seen them. All right, Brad, last one for you. You haven't seen First Steps yet? No. Oh. Is this a real title? Huh? That's all it is. Yes or no. The Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Sun of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil Mutant Alien Flesh Eating Hellbound Zombified Living

[01:01:49] Dead Part 2 in Shocking 2D. I could see that being a fun parody title, but I also think I would have heard of it, and so I'm going to say no. You are correct, but not for the reason you think you are. Oh, interesting. Because I just added a the to the beginning of it. You dummy! The rest of it is a real title, so you got it right on accident. What is? When did the movie come out? Because it really is called Night of the Day of the... Yeah. When did it come out?

[01:02:18] I believe it was a 70s or 80s kind of gore fest, but it was technically it's 94 minutes and it's a real runtime. Okay. And I think somebody did it kind of as a lark. Yeah. That's funny. But yeah. So that's pretty funny. You're so dumb. There's nine thes in that one. That's funny. There you go. There's the the the the the game. That was fun. The the the the the the. Good game, buddy. That was better than the last one I wrote. I love you. How long have you been going? Enough. What time? We're a little over an hour. Oh, yeah. Let's just call it. Yeah.

[01:02:48] I'm good to go. Yeah. No trailers this time. Hey, you know what? Sometimes you don't get to talk about trailers, but you don't get what you want. That's the problem with you listeners. Hey, you at least tell them like the ones we did watch were Doomsday. Well, hold on. We'll do. We'll just do one quick one about Avengers Doomsday because we've already talked about this before. So you actually want to see the film kind of. Well, no, I will say that I like this trailer much better than the previous one they released. It felt like they did more to show why Doom is scary and should be feared

[01:03:15] rather than having Thor tell you he's scary. Yeah. And I particularly enjoyed Thor saying you'll beg for hell long before I grant it and Doom's response being hell answers to me for I am Doom because that is just a fucking great experience. Also, Thor needs to stop making threats because he threatened Thanos with the glove on and Thanos freaking beat him up. So stop making threats. I wish I could go back in time. Well, actually, Thanos didn't beat up Thor. He just disappeared. I'm just saying like you. Yeah. But but stop making threats.

[01:03:45] It's not worth it for you. Come on. Come on, Thor. Knock it off. I love it when when Chris Hemsworth gets angry, though, like he just gets that. It's awesome. It's one of the cooler gravel in his voice. And one of those cooler turns you can have. I do wish that there was a universe that existed in which Thanos would have come after this storyline because it just he's always going to be the bigger threat. Well, actually, but not even know because in the comics, Doom is a big fucking deal. Can I say that? For me, for me, that's why I'm so upset that this is how we're getting his introduction. Right.

[01:04:13] It would have been better if they gave Doom the same lead up that they did. That's what I'm saying. Like, I wish that Doom would have been the first one because then you've got. But then also in the comics, I get it. He's this massive force. But then do you think that if Thanos would have come second and we were introduced to him, would what audiences be able to do what I'm not what I may be right now? I mean, it depends on what they would have. Is he a bigger existential threat to the entire universe than Doom is? Is Thanos? Yeah. To the. Okay.

[01:04:40] This is the thing that bothers me about the comic book universe is everything is always like, this is the big guy. Right. This is the guy that beats the bad guy. Yeah. But there's always another guy. And it's like, there's always another one. It has to be, right? You have to. Well, there has to be. Yeah. I know, but it's like. It's different versions. It's different stories. But when Thanos came up, it's like, that's the freaking guy. That's the be all end all. Exactly. And now there's a new be all end all. Well, there always has to be a big villain. You know, I mean, there's just like there's there's apocalypse, you know, and there's there's plenty of big villains out there. Yeah.

[01:05:10] Doom is on the same scale as Thanos. You know, it just depends on what storyline you're telling. Sure. But they just haven't given him enough runway to lead up to him in a more significant way. What I will say is the one thing that I like about this trailer, and it's still a little bit of a Hail Mary for them to do this, to desperately connect everything. Yeah, a bit of a project. And give Doom a backbone that is already sitting in the MCU as opposed to building it across a universe with him involved.

[01:05:39] There's a line that he says in this trailer where he says, you have all lived stolen lives. Yeah. And it's it's a callback to Avengers Endgame and the fact that they all are living and back today because they went to different timelines, stole the Infinity Stones. Granted, they returned them. But there's a reason Steve Rogers is in this movie. And it's because he left and he went to a different timeline and got to live out this whole thing. Doom didn't. He lost his family.

[01:06:05] And so now he's back and he wants revenge because all these people did something and they got the lives that they got their happy endings that they all wanted. He didn't get that. So he's pissed. And so I like that there is there is a thread that does connect him to everything that happened. The one part that I'm still not entirely sold on is that they have to do a lot of heavy lifting from the Fantastic Four as far as establishing their relationship with him because that's a big significant. Yeah, because that's their main villain in the comics.

[01:06:34] But again, Pedro Pascal's delivery of how he's yelling at Doom in this one is pretty convincing. And also that's a that's a very good actor because you feel the connection between the characters with the way he's yelling at him. It means this they're intimately knowledgeable of each other. Yeah. Just that line delivery alone. So there's a lot of heavy lifting to be done here. But I was intrigued by this trailer. Sure. Now, Brad, on a website I just read called SlashFilm.com.

[01:07:03] They have a list of the biggest villains in the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe. And they say the number one villain is Kang the Conqueror. What happened to him? And why are you in the- Is it by Sam Stone? I don't know if you know him. Sam Stone is one of our great writers at SlashFilm. He knows his comic book stuff. He knows his he knows Westerns extremely well. He's just knowledgeable about a lot of different stuff.

[01:07:30] That article is mostly based on comic book lore. And indeed, Kang the Conqueror is the most powerful- What happened to him? In the MCU? In the MCU. I actually- Did we just all kind of wake up from a magazine dream? You know, having a good time? That's a deep cut that maybe like two people who listen to this podcast are going to get. Well, good for you, Alex Pappas. No, Alex isn't even going to get it. I bet you- Maybe Mitch will get that joke. Okay. And maybe one other person.

[01:07:59] Okay, fair enough. But anyway, I hope that they will have some kind of illusion to Doom doing something about Kang in this- Oh. In Doomsday, maybe. Sure. That would be the easiest way to explain- Kind of retcon a bit because- Yeah, exactly. They really built something up there. They were planning on it, yeah. Yeah, so, but yeah, it's not happening. Why? Look it up, listener, if you need to.

[01:08:28] It's a major story. Jonathan Majors. Beat women and should not be allowed to do anything except for rot. Spoiler alert. It's not really a spoiler alert. He's a piece of shit. We used to talk about it. I don't know why I'm hiding it. I just mean no one has to do any work now. Oh, yeah. Well, no, you don't need to do any work. We should be telling everybody. Jonathan Majors is a piece of shit. Yeah, he beat the ladies. Don't say it like that. That sounds so weird. All right. All right. That was a good Borat at the end there, Brad. Good job, buddy.

[01:08:58] Brad, where can people find you? All right. At SlashFilm.com, the Slash Film Weekly Podcast. You can also check out the Pop Culture Podcast. And, you know, if you like checking out fun junk food, maybe even some pop culture memorabilia, just cool things, you can check out at LookAtBradJunk on Instagram, Facebook, and TikiToc. Okay. Okay. Also, can we just call this episode, does the title just be, okay?

[01:09:28] Where are people? People can find you, sir. In bed in about 10 minutes. I love you guys. It was great being back. I've missed you. This has been a lot of fun. Do we have any mailbag this week? Do we know? No, I don't know. We don't have to worry about it. No, we'll do it. It's like, well, I'll pull it in. Hey, you know what? Bye, everybody. Bye. Nah, cheat saying no.
