Episode 271 - It's 2026!

Ben, Brad, and Nate are hitting summer HARD! And that means seeing summer movies like Masters of the Universe, Jackass: Best and Last, Supergirl, Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (just let that last one slide, because Mel Brooks turned 100 recently). But that's not all, because we also talk about the trailers for The Debut (ACTING!) and Klara and the Sun (ROBOTS!). There's also a game! Nate has a bunch of questions about someone who is a real He-Man. We have the power!

[00:00:17] Hey everybody, it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself, my name is Ben Konowitz and with me as always is the Hotel Transylvania 3 to my blazing saddles, Bradford Oman Hey that's me, I want to suck your blood and run a hotel And I'm going to say the Spaceballs to my Blazing Saddles, Nate Loucks Can I say real quick, you were supposed to do an impression of Spaceballs but okay

[00:00:46] I don't have impressions, you know this, everyone that listens to this podcast knows this You just got called the worst movie out of the whole Transylvania and you didn't get upset at it I feel like that shows real growth for you I don't know, the first Hotel Transylvania is the worst I mean I said Hotel Transylvania 3 Yeah I don't think the third one is bad I don't know, I've never seen it but Mel Brooks has a voice in it and that's why I'm using it Because it's Mel Brooks' 100th birthday today I was just saying, it's real growth for you

[00:01:15] I also think it's unfair that you chose a movie that Mel Brooks only did a voice in and you picked two that he directed No, it's my game, I can play it how I want Welcome to Go Flix Yourself, a movie podcast where we talk about movies and never TV And sometimes we play a game but not today because I didn't write one and we're talking about a couple of trailers Did you really write a game? I did Is it Mel Brooks related? Nateford No No Why? Don't set him up like that Now it's disappointing This is what you do This is what you do every time You really just did that, you were like, oh it was about Mel Brooks?

[00:01:44] I was excited about a game and now you're like, is it Mel Brooks? No, no, it's not Mel Brooks I don't want to play Oh, oh, oh, it's not Mel Brooks This is why we have a hard time recording this podcast because we can barely be in the same room together Maybe if you stop talking about Angel Studios movies all the time They're good films Oh my god Name your favorite Water Walker What is that about? Well, it's the story of a young man who discovers he can walk on water Is he Jesus? Spoiler alert, yes Who's in it? Zach Saffron

[00:02:14] Who's that? It's a Zach Ebron impersonator That wears a sequin jacket Best name he can come up with Zach Saffron Is, yes Anyway Speaking of Angel Studios, by the way I was in, I forget which film I went to see recently But you probably saw this as well, Young Washington trailer Oh, of course I saw it I forget which one it was But I'm like, Angel Studios must be doing pretty well

[00:02:43] Because they're getting like Ben Kingsley Is Pedro Pascal in this movie? No, I don't even think that it's Angel Studios is doing well It's that studios aren't making other movies like that on that scale anymore And so they're taking the work where they can get it Is that right? Who's in this one? Ben Kingsley? That's not a good representation though Ben Kingsley's not He's like a Nicolas Cage Here's another one That's not true Ben Kingsley's a great actor So is Nicolas Cage No, but like all the time he's great And he's still doing good work Yeah Oh no, no

[00:03:12] He's taking some Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage type stuff He has Look at his IMDb He really has But I think I don't know To me I think it's different with Ben Kingsley Because when you look at him He's not somebody who can do what Nicolas Cage can do Ben Kingsley has a very specific niche Like he's an old actor He's not an action star He has a very Like there's only certain things you would like want to see Ben Kingsley do You know? And so like I don't think he has I don't know I mean Appeal as like a Nicolas Cage Like I don't Like what do you

[00:03:41] So what about Nicolas Cage is like What do you want to see him with his shirt off? Like what? No, it's because Because of who Nicolas Cage is Like he's got a persona that attracts people Because he's so eccentric and strange And so like even something that looks weird or bad People want to see it because Nicolas Cage No one sees Ben Kingsley and be like Oh shit, we gotta see that, hon I don't know He was great in The Mandalorian Or not The Mandalorian Ben Kingsley? Not The Mandalorian The Mandarin The Mandarin That's not the movie It's Iron Man 3 No, I was just going to say

[00:04:11] He's great as The Mandarin Well, and so he reprised that role In the Disney Plus series Wonder Man Which was actually great If you didn't watch it And he did great in it Yeah Okay, but here's another Angel Studios film That's coming out The Brink of War Did you hear about this one? No Is that the one with Dean Cain? Brendan Fraser No, it has No, that's Pressure Jeff Daniels I was lying Because I was just making something up He's in a movie on Pressure J.K. Simmons Hope Davis These are actors that like Yeah It used to be like What's the guy from

[00:04:40] Like the 96 Kirk Cameron Yeah, it used to only be like Kirk Cameron I'm just saying They are somehow Scott Baio Yeah, Scott Baio Kirk Cameron They are somehow getting Major like actors In some of these films I don't know how It's because studios don't make Mid-budget movies Like Angel Studios does anymore Yeah Yeah, when there's nowhere For the actors to go Exactly Right? They have to take the work But it's just The thing is Like Jeff Daniels I wouldn't think would be Somebody who needs that I mean You would think that

[00:05:10] Except like What place is there For someone like Jeff Daniels To do big movies All the time I mean Just the same as there is For like a John Goodman Or you know I don't know In the last John Goodman movie You saw Well that's what I'm saying Like he doesn't do Angels movies though So it's like I don't Is it because he wants to work Needs to work He probably would I think John Goodman Could probably coast on His Roseanne money alone And be fine Yeah I mean Jeff Daniels Has had a very successful career Sure Unless he's shit with money You know Maybe that's what it is

[00:05:39] It could be that But I also think that Actors want to act And they'll take paychecks And honestly I will give Angel Studios Credit for this Their movies Don't look like The way faith based movies Used to anymore They do have a certain Like air of legitimacy To them Even if they are Melodramatic And heavy handed And you know They still like Pull your heartstrings In the most obvious way But they do look good Like they don't look Like cheap ass movies anymore They actually do have You know A budget behind them

[00:06:08] I haven't seen 47 Angel films Let me tell you No but I do remember Seeing one called Cabrini Did you hear about this one I don't think so It was starring CeeLo Green No Christiana Delana Caitlin Caitlin these are the jokes Okay Caitlin's listening in And she looked at me It was legitimately Pretty good film And she smiled I said CeeLo Green Because Cabrini Green Is a thing Yeah And I think that she laughed But it wasn't good though You just kept going You didn't even stop To say bad joke

[00:06:38] We've learned To like just kind of move on I accepted it And moved on Hey Brad Also is this how this works Sometimes these films Are green lit Somebody finances them And then Angel Studios Distributes them Yes Right And so they don't Really make the film They're buying the distribution rights I mean sometimes But I'm sure they are also Producing their own movies too Yeah but some of this Just because it's Angel Studios Just means they're distributing it They're not necessarily producing it You pronounce it distribute

[00:07:07] Instead of distribute Like really heavy on the first syllable Dis Distributing I think he's saying it As if it were distribution But not distribute Yeah Yeah I caught that I don't know You put the emphasis On the wrong syllable The emphasis No I'm sorry That killed the show Sorry Alright Moving fucking on I guess Well you just say words wrong I'm just trying to I often do

[00:07:36] And we move on Okay Cee-lo green Nailed it Alright Fuck Hey Hey Brad We're kind of poor Who's we? We need some money So we need a bit of a sponsor You and me Oh well I have bad news The sponsor didn't show up this week Because? Because I was out on business You know what? You've been to my house Are we going to do this here? Are we going to do this here? You've been to my house twice a day

[00:08:05] One of my good business buddies Needed someone to test out his pool Oh my god And he was having problems Having cracks in the foundation Leaky drains I brought the sponsor Because Brad forgot Don't look There were bugs That I had to clean out of it It was not Not pretty But you know what? We made it work It's just I feel like You used to Take this podcast seriously I used to I used to What are we doing here? Take one Take one

[00:08:35] Yes Have some Is this Inedible? No Oh my god That'd be wild That'd be hilarious Don't look Don't look Okay Alright For our listeners This is a gummy It's a piece of It looks like an edible But it's not It's not It does look like an edible If it's an edible It came out of my children's candy drawer In the kitchen So that would be bad Okay What do you think it is? Don't say it I don't know

[00:09:05] Okay What do you think? Okay Enough mouthfeel here Something strawberry Okay Something strawberry Yeah you're right Strawberry It's literally just called Strawberry jelly I believe Strawberry gummy It's just called Strawberry gummy It's from Japan Oh okay Oh Where'd you get it? How crazy Japan You didn't go to Japan? I really don't remember Where that came from It's been in our house Yeah And actually it tastes more

[00:09:35] Like a fresh strawberry Than you'd expect Yeah it is actually pretty good You know the Japanese I've said this for so many years The Japanese know how to do What was it? They know how to do gummies Okay Oh okay That was much better Than I thought it was gonna be It was weird that you bowed At the end But okay Whatever Hey Nate What's the last movie you saw buddy? Because the last movie That Brad and I saw We saw together Oh So that's why I didn't want to be like Me and then him And then Oh that's fun for you guys Seeing guys saw a movie together Well you're busy Yeah It's Sunday Funday Covered wafers Alright

[00:10:05] Last movie I saw Was a film called Masters of the Universe You did I saw it I'm so happy for you I really liked this film Yeah it's really good You said that like he got married And you just found out about it And you went to high school together I'm so proud of it You did No because nobody Nobody's seen this for you Yeah nobody's seen it It's not doing well at the box office I'm excited for people to see it Definitely not gonna make his money back Somebody finally married that person Oh my god But this is a lot of fun

[00:10:34] And Nicholas Galitzen Galitzen Galitzen Galitzen I think it is Yeah Is fantastic in this He's so good as Adam Glenn Now here was the struggle for me I remember having He-Man action figures I remember watching the cartoon a little When I could find it Yeah Right Like But I had the action figures more But I didn't I didn't remember a ton of the characters I didn't remember a ton of it So I bet my brothers

[00:11:03] Would probably remember a lot more Because I was a little bit At the tail end of some of it But I wish this was a brand That lived on a little bit more That I would have known a little bit Now for instance If Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I still remember the lore I still remember the characters I still remember so much of that Even though You know Because it was a little bit more my era But I saw so much fun in this Idris Elba's great Camila Mendez is great

[00:11:32] It is not like one of those casts That has like I don't know Molly and I watched it And we're like Oh they're in this as well Alison Brie's in this And like all these kind of things It was just a lot of fun I wish people would see this Molly did nothing about He-Man She still had a lot of fun watching it It's a lot of fun I just I don't know why this isn't doing better Other than it's not a brand People care about Was Orko in it Yes but Orko's in it Yeah but That's all I'll say

[00:12:02] He's naked Yeah Yeah I knew it He hangs dong So it is like the show then Isn't Jared Leto even great Seriously though I have a hard time saying yes to this Because it's Jared Leto But Skeletor is awesome Skeletor is very good Okay Yeah It really is It's a very surprisingly good movie But that doesn't mean you should cast him No no 100% We can still say Stop casting Jared Leto Yeah this is a flu Exactly

[00:12:32] This is an outlier This is not a tendency That we should keep going Exactly But yeah for sure I'm glad you saw it I am too I actually I'm so happy for you You know you look great Did you see anything else Yes you did Did I Yes we talked about it at Crotcher At Crotcher I did I saw Kroger Oh I saw a film A new film called Supergirl Oh yeah Oh now I'm the odd man out Up up and away

[00:13:01] Now I'm the dick Yeah you don't go see movies With strong female characters That's not why Oh come on You know you don't That's not why I know but you don't He saw Mad Max Free Road He didn't see Furiosa Exactly I saw Furiosa No you didn't No you didn't I believe I did I don't think so With Chris Hemsworth He's in it Yeah Just because you know who's in it Doesn't mean you saw it in theaters Well yeah no I saw it You watched at home I I Probably Yeah you're probably right

[00:13:31] Alright so I have to see Supergirl To make up for all the misogyny Is that what this is So yeah I apologize I'd like to say You know Okay so I believe Supergirl I believe women I apologize I Follow a couple of our Fans of this podcast One of them being Mitch And he wrote I don't know if you saw it on his thing And I very much agree with what he wrote It just missed Like it It almost got us there Right Yeah It was almost a good film

[00:14:00] And it was a fine film It wasn't a bad film I wasn't mad that I saw the film But there was a Same film again Missing element To this This movie That I I just felt like It just didn't do well Now Molly thought She's like I just also don't feel like They gave Like the The script was as good as Superman's script Right Yeah I agree I think that And I remember reading That there was some Pretty serious praise For the script out there And so I wonder if some stuff

[00:14:30] Maybe it just like It didn't come together In front of the camera Like it is Because you can always Take a good script And just end up with an okay movie That happens plenty of times And so I wonder if it Didn't end up You know In the final cut of the movie Or maybe it was just Meddled with You know In the editing room And just didn't quite all come together But I still think It's It's very entertaining I like it I like Millie Alcock But yeah It's missing some of the magic juice That makes Superman work so well But I think that As a character

[00:14:59] She's fantastic I'm very excited to see her In Man of Tomorrow The Superman sequel That she's obviously Going to be a big part of As well Well spoiler alert She lives I do like Wow I'm gonna kill Supergirl In her first movie Oh I'm sorry I thought this was 2026 You can kill women I think Oh my god Well no In movies Holy shit No in movies What are you doing In my No You can kill It's 2026 You can kill women No no no Because he is a Big Epstein guy Oh my god No In so much of like

[00:15:29] Not like that You should be able to kill women No no no You know Fuck You know what I meant But Brad and I don't Listeners We actually believe In the rights of women Jesus Christ We believe that women should have Their own choice And autonomy You both Oh shut up You both know what I meant I'm not sure I did But I think Even Caitlin's making a face like Ew Like she's pulling her collar Ew Make your freaking point Let's move on I actually kind of like to see you Sit in this a little bit Well I didn't do anything wrong Of course That's

[00:15:59] They never think they do They I'm in Now I'm in I'm in a they now Cool But I I genuinely think Her In Superman Is gonna be Great chemistry Between the two of them Yeah Because any scene That they were in together I actually really liked it Yeah In this film And I feel like They do have a good chemistry They have a good kind of dynamic And the way they play off each other Is gonna be very fun The

[00:16:29] The Ruthie I liked her She was good I just feel like They gave her enough To do in this film And like For about half of it She was kind of just a Like Like just not much Yeah it's So that's I think yeah If there's maybe You know I don't want to necessarily Go out of my way To criticize a child actor Necessarily Because like She's Because it's not her fault But it's the No She seemed to be good Yeah the part The part feels underwritten And

[00:16:58] It's tough when you have a movie That is very much A true grit riff And that character Doesn't feel like It's on par With A Haley Steinfeld Performance From the true grit remake You know That the Coen brothers did So yeah I think that's That's a fair Fair assessment And then One final comment Jason Momoa I don't It didn't I just didn't care If he If he's never brought back His low blow I'm fine Yeah He just That's a low blow You know Right now

[00:17:28] I think you should be In a season of learning What the fuck is that Of receiving right now Not of teaching Okay That was That's a good joke I mean just right now Okay Alright Alright With what you've been saying On this podcast Alright I'll learn I guess I'm learning I bet you were the first kid To like make a 9-11 joke On September 12th I was not At all Kid I was in college I was a man Yeah Well Okay

[00:17:57] That's what he thought What is going on right now I'm a man mom I'm a man I'm a man I screamed on 9-11 No That's not No That's not That's just I just I give up I give up I'm gonna go upstairs Alright Brad Did you see any films This week Not only did I Oh wait Can I say one more Sorry Yes Of course I don't think I talked about this Of course my child Please

[00:18:26] What have you seen Brad I finally saw Lorne Oh nice The documentary about Lorne Michaels Yes Different movie I loved this film And it was You gotta go in knowing It is not going to be Like a A tell all Exactly It is not gonna go into deep dive And I would love to read that Or see that in a book Or you know Apparently the book is very good But What it was Was In a sense Kind of a love story to Lorne And his life

[00:18:56] And his work And his passion And told by people That have worked for him That mostly love him And as an SNL guy We host the 10 to 1 podcast I absolutely adored this documentary And had a lot of fun with it And I was not sad to watch it But you said while you watched it I mean there's some parts where I Not sad necessarily But I do get a little nostalgic thinking

[00:19:24] I don't know how many years we have left He won't be around for a lot of time Yeah He just can't be Unless you're Mel Brooks And I Call back I am grateful I got to live During Lorne Michaels' life Because I feel like He has given me more The documentary Kind of makes you aware Of How much comedy Has been released Onto this world Not just through SNL But through the influence Yeah Of Lorne Michaels Yeah And it is Incredible And so Well Nate We got a surprise for you

[00:19:54] Lorne Michaels is here today What? Do the Lorne impression No That's pretty good Brad what else? I saw Jackass Best and Last The final Frontier Jackass movie This was A mix of some new Stunts And some greatest hits It really felt like

[00:20:24] A homecoming And a farewell And they played Some of their Favorite stuff From over the years And like did like A reflection And talk Looking back on it They introduced Some new footage For Stunts That they were revisiting Had some new stuff That they did Showed footage That had never Aired on the show Including What they intended To be part Of the first Ever episode Of Jackass

[00:20:53] And what he tried To do Which was It's part of a Testing out Self defense Weapons thing Like they do a taser And they do something like that But the one that they were Going to do That they didn't air In the show That Johnny Knox Actually did Bulletproof vest Yeah And it's bonkers I can't And like The way that There's natural suspense It's like Oh my god I can't believe That this is what They Like he was going to do I mean Have you heard the story

[00:21:23] Of Johnny Knoxville Like where he came from And what he did before this All I know is that He used to be a skateboarder Yeah So that bit That you're talking about Comes from An article he wrote Cause he was like Yes Yeah they do say that If you wanted to do something Back then You had to create Yourself So I think it was for Vice Yes That he just like I'm gonna I'm gonna test all these things Out on myself And then he's like Well we might as well Record it as well Yeah And then that turned into Jackets I mean in a very loose way No they did talk about that At the beginning of the movie Pretty cool It is But yeah Johnny Knoxville like

[00:21:52] Single handedly made this happen I mean Yeah He really did But yeah It's funny It's very funny It's gross It's There's You know There's a couple Sentimental moments as well You know when they're Talking about stuff Johnny gets a little emotional How much did they talk about Bam and Ryan Dunn They don't talk about them But they show Enough footage Both old Of them And then in the credits Just kind of as like They're doing roll call

[00:22:14] And just showing everybody Sure Yeah because Bam Felt betrayed by them So But yeah It's a lot of fun Okay They made this film For $10 million Is the budget for this And everything These guys This movie probably Printed money then I mean It made $10 million Was it just out this weekend Just came out this weekend Yeah so it made $10 million

[00:22:44] I think this weekend Yeah It's going to end up Probably With Reynolds $100 million You got what 12 to 14 guys That are You know In In Jackass Doing stunts People Okay Don't say it dismissively What are you Ben I mean 2026 He was just dismissing Your clarification Women can I mean but guy This is the Why you can say Guys do everything Okay But also

[00:23:15] How much do you think They get paid to do these stunts Because I would not do them For I mean Less than A lot of money I mean And I'm looking at the budget I'm like This How much You know Your $10 million And then it is Your whole production cost Including what you're paying These stunt guys So I'm pretty sure That they're going to go To somebody like Wee Man And they're going to say It's good We're going to shoot for two weeks And we'll pay you 50 grand And he's like Yup And that's Because again Remember This is not months and months And months of shooting Or if it is They're just doing it

[00:23:45] On a weekend And they're coming back And in this one especially There's no way It's just nothing And we'll give you You think there would be Like an offer And if it makes over $50 million No I was just going to say Honestly I wouldn't be surprised If maybe some of them Do have back end deals Or if Even Johnny himself Has told them Like look You know Dick House as a production Gets this much money If it hits the ceiling I think the reason That everybody's still doing it Is because they're having fun Doing it But also Johnny Knoxville And the other people Have not fucked them over yet Yeah Because you know Bam isn't there anymore Because he says that But again

[00:24:14] He's going through his own shit So I don't even count that But most of the crew Is still pretty friendly With each other And there's a reason for that You don't do that Kind of life changing Shit together No exactly And then have one guy Walk away If Knoxville truly did Walk away from everything But that never happens Yeah I bet you they make 50 to 100 grand Oh yeah Even 100 grand 100 grand For a couple weeks Worth of work Would you do it Well no Because I don't want To break myself forever They A lot of them Are What about 25 year old Ben Probably I probably did Okay

[00:24:46] I saw another movie Okay What did you see buddy I saw Gail Daughtry And the celebrity sex pass I think he's making words up Was this on X videos I'm the next This is on a red tube No so this is the new movie From I saw Gail Daughtry In a six pack Gail Daughtry And the celebrity sex pass Sex pass This is a new movie From David Wayne Oh that's right The co-director Wait no You talked about this one

[00:25:15] It's got 13% of round tomatoes Or whatever No that's never changed Oh that's a different That's a different David Wayne movie This is a different David Wayne didn't do The other movie Oh I talked to you about this Personally off air This isn't even out yet No it's not It's coming out soon Okay Oh written by Kim Marino Kim Marino co-wrote it With David Wayne And he's also in it And Zoe Deutsch is in it And so the whole premise Of the movie Is that Zoe Deutsch is in this relationship And it's very clearly Not a good one But she's about to get married And then her boyfriend

[00:25:45] Ends up hooking up With somebody who Was his celebrity sex pass And so then she Ends up going on her own Thing to Hollywood To like do the same thing And achieve her celebrity Sex pass It has the same Somewhat parody But also just Just absurd comedy Sure It can't not Wet hot American summer You know Because this is deja vu now Because we just talked about this Yeah exactly But yeah It's hilarious It's silly It's dumb

[00:26:14] It has all the hallmarks That you expect From David Wayne As far as their sense of humor And all of his friends Are in this too Yeah exactly And there's fun cameos Throughout as well In it And it's just It is extremely Laugh out loud funny I'm looking at some of the cameos I'm pretty amazed Why are you spoiling that for yourself What are you doing I'm just looking at the Don't mention him out loud I'm not I'm just amazed That he got some of them Why Have you seen the cast Of who They came together And who's in Wet hot American summer Can I not compliment

[00:26:44] David Wayne Not like that It's disrespectful Not like this Not like this I would say That this has Maybe a bigger star In the film Than What Red hot American summer Yes I mean that's true Because Wet hot American summer Was their First movie And I'm just saying Wait are you saying That there's somebody More famous in this film Than somebody That became famous After Wet hot Like it's bigger than Paul Rudd Yes In some ways Oh In some ways

[00:27:13] So you're talking about An A-list actor or actress Someone I would say Who's probably on par With Paul Rudd Okay No Okay so we're talking About Elijah Wood I'm not sure Who you're talking about There's someone I'm thinking of Topher Grace He got it No Elijah Wood or Topher Grace But no This is It's just It's so funny Daniel Radcliffe Pre 9-11 Wow It's like 10 years old Yeah Not super famous yet But like On par with Well actually

[00:27:43] Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Came out I think In November of 2001 So he would have been Pretty famous Holy shit Pretty famous So I don't know If you know this But right after 9-11 Daniel Radcliffe This becomes really famous Wow that out of context That's a bit strange Alright what do we got We watch one more movie Richard Kind I was talking about Richard Kind Oh okay Oh Yep he's way bigger Than Way bigger than Topher Grace Oh sorry Oh sure Yeah we watched

[00:28:13] Another movie As friends We're rolling around Looking for fights I remember watching this Like a 10 or 11 year old Thinking it was Maybe the funniest The funniest thing I've ever seen In my whole existence Absolutely Yeah And we just watched it again

[00:28:41] And I went a lot of times I went Huh So maybe not the funniest I've ever seen in my entire life But man I will give respect Where respect is due It's still The thing that you don't remember About movies in like the 90s It wasn't all CGI It was It was still a big deal To make a movie All those sets I mean What are they But like They had set pieces here Where you had Like A hundred extras All in garb And everything They had real scenes

[00:29:11] Where they're handing out Weaponry and stuff And it was So it's a craft services thing This is a major budget movie No of course it is You know But I forget about that When you're Oh it's just a parody movie But these are real studio films Yeah it had a budget In 1993 of 20 million dollars Which is like 6 billion now That's crazy money Even 20 million What was the one that was Jack House was made for 10 today Yeah That's crazy There you go That's my two cents Did you like it? I loved it I love it

[00:29:40] I do love it It's very funny Did you like it? Of course I made mention When we were watching it Outside of Dave Chappelle I couldn't really place Too many of the other actors Or actresses that were in it Yeah You know You've got Carrie Elwes You've got Dave Chappelle And then of course Mel Brooks himself But outside of that Richard Lewis Richard Lewis Was already pretty famous though So everybody else That was in it You know Amy Yazbek Yes exactly Gorgeous Maid Marian Uh huh You know The And then whoever Was the matronly woman

[00:40:54] That it's a great movie I just think it's a pretty good movie You think it's a great action movie? King Nereus in let's say Oh it's Aquaman Aquaman Correct Dolph Lundgren has claimed His performance in Rocky IV Was so intimidating That it caused What unexpected real world problem? Shits Somebody Like people passing out in a theater No Communism

[00:42:52] No He believes that it That film Oh impregnated women? Made him so terrifying Seeming That it It ruined him getting Roles in the future Oh maybe Do you feel like that Could be true? Yeah Or you couldn't do it You couldn't pull a Schwarzenegger Yeah Where that's a perfect role For somebody like that Like you found The robot That you're supposed to portray Now use that as your springboard In Hollywood Like Schwarzenegger did You're just saying You're not as good as Arnold Schwarzenegger It's okay Give me

[00:43:22] This is a good question Give me a person That you know That started their career Or maybe had their First big film As a villain Or as You know Somebody like Ivan Drago That Then became A mainstream actor That was Dwayne Johnson Dwayne Johnson Yeah In the Scorpion King Yeah This is gonna Piss off cinephiles For sure Because I don't know His career before this But I remember Thinking that Gary Oldman In The Fifth Element

[00:43:51] Was terrifying Oh yeah He had a whole career But he was very famous Sid Nancy What else Yeah see I never saw These old stuff Bram Stoker's Dracula Dracula But he was a villain there So was that his breakout role No I think he was pretty well known Even before Bram Stoker's Dracula I'm just trying to think of Those type of actors You could say Jason Momoa I'm not sure if you could call Call Drago in Game of Thrones A full fledged villain Necessarily But he was a pretty bad dude That's fair Yeah Who else started off as a villain Christopher Walken Christoph Waltz

[00:44:21] Although he might have had a whole Career before In Glorious Bastards But he definitely had A career of villain After that But yeah I mean Christopher Walken Was the prophecy Yeah I think But Walken probably had more Before that though Didn't he He had The Deer Hunter Yeah That's pretty big Yeah Alright Yeah It is interesting though But he was a guy That was famous for Maybe a couple of Standout dramas Sure Then was complete horror For three or four Or five films in a row Yeah Where he went He was just a creepy guy

[00:44:50] We're probably forgetting A lot of people Oh yeah Who comes to mind for you Write it in the comments Because I'd love to hear An answer to that Off the top of my head I do feel like I see his point to say If the first Like If the first role That you have That you're getting Into the conscious Of most people Is a villain It might be harder Oh no it can be tough To break up Oh for sure That's what I'm saying Like it's so But I think if you're A good enough actor You can certainly And that's the thing You also If you're Dwayne The Rock Johnson Yeah Even without action Like look at The guy that played Stifler Right Yeah Sean William Scott Sean William Scott

[00:45:19] Had a real tough Hollywood career after that Yeah Everybody just viewed him As the party guy Right Mick Lovin Absolutely Yeah That's really tough But guys that have Transitioned pretty well I mean John Cena Starts off just as a Musclehead A musclehead And now he's renowned For comedy Yeah I mean I love that turn Yeah So you can Listen It's in it for you You can change your stars You I hate that he used The knight's tail But he's right I know But he's right But I do love that movie Yeah

[00:45:49] Alright Wait Shh Do you hear it? I do Nate It's a song What does it say? Right now It's in Ben's heart It's ready to get out It's ready to go I definitely got one In a lock to learn it And I'm proud that I've seen Some trailers With Nate and Brad and me And I hope The men that made these movies

[00:46:17] Are coming back around To see that I proudly Stand up After the film And I tell Brad It was bad And he said That's okay Because A24 is not for everybody Oh sad Yeah That's it That was pretty good Honestly It might be one of his better ones It's also our Fourth of July episode So You know Like Good for you There you go Yeah This episode is Hitting hot Leading up to Fourth of July And now let's talk

[00:46:46] About two blockbuster movies Oh yeah The debut from A24 This one stars A budget of Two and a half million dollars Grab your popcorn Directed by That's right Blockbuster director Jesse Eisenberg And you've got Julianne Moore Starring as A sad wife Leading a community Theater production Led by Paul Giamatti You're gonna pay For the ticket It's gonna give you The whole seat But you're only gonna Need the edge

[00:47:16] No this looks really good It looks Basically looks like Whiplash for a community Theater But maybe not as intense I don't think it's It doesn't look nearly As intense But it does look Like Kind of a fun series Yeah So yeah I don't know It's gonna be interesting I love the seriousness In this trailer With which Paul Giamatti's character Is like oh he's the Top guy in New Jersey Community Theater Yeah and they think That very seriously Yeah it's so serious But no it looks very good And I think Seeing what Jesse Eisenberg Can do as a filmmaker

[00:47:45] Is always interesting And he's a theater guy Yeah He's written plays He loves the theater So this could be Kind of a fun take On local community theater As well For sure And how serious Some people take it This actually looks Really good to me And I'm Really excited To see it It comes out Sometime this year But they've not Released An actual Date Yeah I'm betting It'll probably Hit some festivals And then it'll Probably get like A proper wide release Leading up to award season

[00:48:15] Has he made Has he directed A film yet Or no This is his Directorial A debut Okay Alright So it should be fun I'm actually I don't know Guys you were supposed To stop me there I think that He did He did a real pain Why would I ever Know that I don't know He wrote and directed A real pain The one that Kieran Culkin won The Oscar for Oh yeah That's right Yeah It's a very good movie Too if you haven't Seen it And he also did When you finished Saving the world That was pretty good Was it

[00:48:45] Yeah It wasn't The best But it was solid You think that If Jesse Eisenberg Walking the red carpet And you know The flashes are going on Everywhere And he can't really See too well And his people Are all surrounding him And they want to warn him They go Eisenberg right ahead Oh no Is that not a Thing that they Probably do Probably not It's pretty disrespectful To the survivors Of the Titanic They're not alive anymore Doesn't mean it's not Disrespectful of them Well they would be I mean they would be What They would be alive today They died That ship sailed In 1912

[00:49:14] They'd be They'd be Well over 100 Yeah Some people live that long Exactly Why don't you make fun Of the people Who died on 9-11 Oh okay I already done it You guys are the worst What other stupid trailer Do we watch Well this one was If you paid me a million dollars I couldn't remember The name of the movie If you literally I found a million dollars And I will give it to you And I will give you Two days to think about it Without any internet access I would wrap my brain And I would say

[00:49:44] I would say It was Well hold on It was Who's in it Hold on Hold on Who's in it Nope Don't remember that Work to it Nope Don't remember that at all Nope I think Amy Adams I think Amy Adams Is playing Morticia Gomez Morticia Gomez That's what it looks like Two characters Well that's what it looks like In there Amy Adams is playing Morticia Gomez Or Morticia Adams Okay Is what it looks like And it's called like Susan Buried the Dog That reference feels like It should help you remember Who else is in the movie Yeah anyway

[00:50:13] Olivia Rodrigo Nope Olivia Newton-John Olivia Olivia What's her name Oh my god Jenna Ortega Skinny like Ollivander's wand Yeah Wow Commenting on women's bodies Oh shut the hell up First they can get killed In 2026 And now They're skinny as twigs Wow Wonderful commentary From old Ben Conowitz Thanks buddy For being a man Hey who directed it though Hopefully a woman No Taika Waititi Shit

[00:50:43] This doesn't feel like I'm not really winning Over here guys This doesn't feel like Your normal Taika Waititi movie No it's more Jojo Rabbit than No I wouldn't even Go that far Honestly No yeah This feels kind of like More of just like Your average family movie With like a little bit Of quirkiness in it But yeah I don't know I don't know How I feel about this I wasn't like Overwhelmed like How like Nice it looked Or charming Or anything like that If anything I was kind of off put By the fact that We're getting a movie That wants to make you Feel sentimental about An AI

[00:51:13] Finger You don't like that No Fuck em I don't know I just think For this to be the premise It better be very good Because something like this This premise feels a bit dated now Yeah 100% Because we've done this Since literally the movie AI Yeah Or since Blade Runner Yeah exactly But the family friendly Part of it Whatever For sure So yeah So this is 20 some years later What is this going to do For us that we haven't seen Already That's all I guess the only

[00:51:42] I trust Taika YTT a lot though I used to Not so much Is it because of the coke That's probably part of it Yeah But no I think it's Mostly like I just Maybe the only saving grace Here could be the fact That it's based on A best selling novel So maybe the novel Has something in it That It must If it's a best seller Hopefully people are You know Tuning into the right thing there I mean Da Vinci Code Is a best seller Well the book is pretty good Is it I don't know I've never read it Yeah I have Is it good Nope Oh it's not It's just It's very painfully average I know

[00:52:11] I know a little bit of this story Because my daughter read this book It's a pretty famous book I don't know if you knew that But if we haven't said The movie is called Clara and the Sun Oh yeah Sorry Boz What did I say it was Neptune buried the dog Or something Boz Skaggs Yeah Susan buried the dog maybe But it was It was huge Like five years ago This book was everywhere And so That was before the AI boom That's why There you go And I know a little bit of the story Because I remember Nora Like wanting to process this

[00:52:41] Don't you spoil it I'm not going to spoil it at all But the story is pretty fascinating Okay So we'll see what Taika Waititi can do with it Do you think Nora's excited for the movie? Maybe I don't know Call her right now You don't talk to her anymore? Call her She's one of those Like The movie's never as good as the books Well of course I mean that's fair So she doesn't like Go to the movie theater or anything Like to see movies She's just one of those Like Why do you have to see movies The books are where it's at Yeah but not every movie Nerd

[00:53:11] Yeah no exactly Tell her she's a nerd Why would I read it? Why would I read? That's what I said Why would I read? But this looks This looks interesting I will say this looks interesting to me It looks fine We'll see You're not excited about it I just I failed to make a connection It looks okay Sure But We'll see We'll see I don't know That's fair Did you guys see Next Goblins or no? Yeah and it wasn't very good It kind of came I saw the show I'm like Felt extremely dated

[00:53:40] And wasn't very funny Was it Yeah Was it very much Is that a paint by numbers? In a different way This doesn't seem as Paint by numbers This seems a little different But not different enough Yeah In my opinion But this comes out October 23rd I would love to hear What our listeners think of this one If they're excited about it or not And if you read the book Do you have high expectations of this?
