Episode 269 - That Is An Erect Drawstring

Ben, Brad, and Nate know it's a cruel summer, and they're not about to make it any better. This episode is bananas (B-A-N-A-N-A-S), and not just because we've watched so many movies (everything from Toy Story 5 to Disclosure Day to Michael and even Happy Gilmore), but also because Ben watched his assignment while Nate and Brad did not. We promise we'll get back on the right path eventually, but not today.

Plus, we talk about the trailers for The Social Reckoning (ZUCKS TO ZUCK!) and Whalefall (GULP GULP!). There isn't a game, okay?

[00:00:16] Hey everybody, it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself. My name is Ben Konowitz and with me as always is the Ashley spelled incorrectly to my A-S-H-L-E-Y Ashley, Bradford Oman. Hey that's me! Now what is the spelling of your name Ashley? T-A-M-B-E-R Tambor. Tambor. Okay, and the other misspelling of Ashley but the better one... My name...

[00:00:47] Tambor, I was gonna say Tambor. Tambor. Tambor Tambor. Nate Loucks. Hi guys, it's A-S-H-L-E-I-G-H. Ah. Yes, that's the proper way to not let people like you. You bet that's the one that I am supposed to be spelled by. Yeah, yeah, that's... Technically that is the bad Ashley spelling. Yeah. You know. You were just gonna be E-E or I-E. If I was a comedian in the 80s and I was a woman named Ashley, my first album name would

[00:01:16] be Bad Ashley. Sigh. We sat and waited for that. Me in a leather jacket leaned up against a brick wall and the title is in graffiti next to me. Like Michael Jackson. Yeah, but I'm like... But also... That's a visual joke. This is a very visual joke. See what you just did. I want you to know. You know, whatever you're imagining in your head on an 80s album, me in a leather jacket leaning up against a brick wall, you probably got it right. Okay. Well, this is... Bad Ashley. Already off the wrist.

[00:01:46] Oh, you're the one that did an intro about Ashley because her girlfriend's name is Ashley. Oh! Pfft, pfft, pfft, pfft. You're an idiot. We were just talking about Ashley's and the different ways to spell them. There's a bad way, a worse way, and the right way. I know, but why were you inspired by that? Because your girlfriend's real name is Ashley. Oh my God. Yeah. I'm so... Playing favoritism over here. Already. Well, Caitlin's here. Molly's here. Hi, ladies. How are you? And Ashley's of course here. We're having a six way with our girlfriends. Basically, making fun of her as she's staying here.

[00:02:16] I'm not making fun of her, I'm making fun of you! Yeah. Well... Yeah, she lives here. I know. You don't. We're broken up. But I'm still here. The garage is technically here. Yeah. Yeah, Ashley just found out we broke up. We're still recording! Sit down! Oh my God! We'll record. All of our girlfriends are here. Yeah, they are. It's great. This is fun. This is a first. It is. Nate, I don't like the way you said that. Yeah, this is a first.

[00:02:44] They're like, this is a first and it should be the last. It's like, that's kind of how it came out of your mouth. This is a first. Hey guys! Yeah. You hungry? Oh God. Does this mean we have a legitimate sponsor this week? No. I wish I could lie to you and say that's a fact, but it's still made up. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is a podcast where we talk about movies and sometimes we have snacks. I don't love how your drawstring is erect right now. Yeah. Bing! Another very visual joke for our listener, Nate.

[00:03:12] So again, you guys are really fucking knocking this out of the park today. Not only is it erect, point it directly at me. This is an erect drawstring. It's like I'm looking over at you just right at me. Guys! What's your favorite fruit flavor in candy form? I don't know. Why don't you not describe it? Just hold it in your hand. That would be a fun way to do this one. What is your favorite fruit flavor in candy? It's not banana. It's okay. You just going to start narrowing them down, buddy? Yeah.

[00:03:43] You just slowly listen. It's not banana. It's not pear. It's not apple. It's not dragon fruit. I don't think it's not kumquat. It's not muskmelon. It's not pear. It's not muskmelon for you. It's not blueberry. It's not dragon fruit. It's not cherry. It's not strawberry. It's not pomegranate. It's not kiwi. It's definitely not apple. Do you know what I like? Do you know what I like? Ah! All of the flavors. They become the last man fruit man. Last man fruiting. All the flavors in the purple Skittles. I like those. That's my favorite. You like the berry Skittles?

[00:04:13] Yeah. Oh, you're a berry guy? Jesus Christ. Are they in purple Skittles? Then yes. I'm more of a tropical flavor guy. Oh no. I like orange. I like mango. I like pineapple. Oh. You don't like tropical fruits? This has the energy of an AA meeting. Or an AI meeting. Go home. This is going to be a bad episode. Because you're an idiot. What do you got for us? Hold on. Wait. You need to tell me what your favorite fruit flavor is. I love raspberry. Really? Yeah. As a candy? Oh no, it's fruit. No, no.

[00:04:43] Specifically fruit flavor in candy form. Like if like. Okay, but this is such a like specific question. No, it is. That's why I'm asking though. Because like there's Starburst, you know, there's like. We've talked about this. It's my favorite. It's the grape gushers. It's grape gushers. I look for them all the time. Oh, yeah. That would count. That's it. Yeah, that's good. Okay. So grape? That would be it. Okay. All right. Well here, try this. I'm throwing them at me. I mean seriously. I'm going to find these six months later. Everybody gets one.

[00:05:12] It's a party and you're invited. I need one. You dropped yours. I didn't even know you were throwing it. You old limp whistle. Limp whistle? All right. All right. Don't look at it. Don't look at it. Don't cheat. I've got to look at it to open it. Yeah, but don't look at. Don't read it. Don't you read it. What are we doing? Mmm. Mmm. Okay. Mm-hmm. All right, guys. What is it? It's banana. It's banana.

[00:05:42] It's banana! Actually had a different answer. They won't be able to hear you, but I can. Go ahead. It tastes like the roller rink. That's true. This flavor of banana does have a very flashback nostalgia to it. It's the same as the banana Laffy Taffy. Yeah. No, neither one of them are good. You don't like banana? Not in candy form, no. I like banana runts. Yeah. Do you? I really do. I really do.

[00:06:11] That's my son Finn's favorite. He loves banana runts, but they're just not good. No, he's wrong. No. You would take a banana run over the pink run? Well, no. I'm not an asshole. Brad, did you watch Basic Instinct? That was your movie. Not only did I watch Basic Instinct, but I didn't watch it. I was going to look at Caitlin and go, did he actually watch it? No, he did not. So, assignment failed on Brad. I can't believe you. You had so much time to watch it. Here's the thing. And then I also reminded him today. I had three. Oh, I got to go home and watch that.

[00:06:41] He said. I had three theatrical screenings. Oh, that's literally what you do for your job. No, no, no. I was like, I'm going to go home and watch that. I was like, oh, I'm going to go home and watch that. Oh, yeah, but I didn't have time. Anyway, I've been hanging out at Caitlin's house. She doesn't have TV? She doesn't let me watch movies. Oh, are you dating my girlfriend? The one with all the kids? Hey, my girlfriend lets me watch movies, guys. Oh.

[00:07:11] Lucky. Fucking lucky. Hey, guys. You're getting some stern looks from the other side of the couch, Molly. Did you guys hear that wolf howling a second ago? No, Caitlin does let me watch movies. Molly, why do you love Nate more than they love us? Why didn't you watch it, though? No, it was just really just I made some poor choices. But you had like over a week to watch it, right? You're right. And I will tell you, I genuinely completely and honestly forgot about the assignments

[00:07:40] until Ben mentioned that he watched his. And I was like, oh, yeah, I haven't done that. Oh, that was today. There's a classic Ben move, by the way. Oh, I know. What's a classic Ben move? Forgetting. And not watching your assignment. No, I've been better lately. And you guys have stunk. We haven't done an episode for like months. Hey, Nate, we did one last week. No, not last week. Two weeks ago. Nate, did you actually watch your assignment? No. Oh, my gosh. I did not. Are you serious? No, but I wanted to pile on you first. But mine was so good. No.

[00:08:11] Oh, wait. Basic Instinct's not a good movie? First of all, it's on a different level. Different kinds of movies. What movie did you give him? Reesome was Wild by Reese Witherspoon. Not by Reese Witherspoon, but she's starring. I mean, but in, yeah. By, yep, by Reese Witherspoon. But I did watch the trailer and I'm like, this. You're gonna love it. I, I, seriously, I know what kind of movies you like, especially when it comes to dramas. You're gonna love this movie. Well, I did watch some other movies though. You know what kind of movies I love and that's why I got Dead Man Walking.

[00:08:40] I didn't give you that though. I did. I'm talking to Nate. I did. Oh yeah. It's a sad movie. Yeah. It's very sad and it makes you think. Yeah. Those are my favorite movies. And it puts you in a lot of uncomfortable positions for about two hours and two minutes. Did you love it? Oh, yeah. Tell the listeners what it's about. Oh, I don't know. It's a, it's an uplifting tale. Uh huh. It's a, it's about a happy-go-lucky convict. Yeah. Who, who Dr. Death's coming for. Right. And a young, upshot, upstart nurse. Oh.

[00:09:10] Played by Susan Sarandon. What kind of shenanigans are these two gonna get into? Exactly. Do they, do they bust him out of prison? Right. Huh? Do they, do they joke around and make people fall in love with him? Yeah. No. They shiv prisoners? He's a horrible man that committed rape and murder and is indefensible. And she is a counselor for him. And then the real families really, their pain is pretty apparent.

[00:09:40] And then it's the morality of the audience member watching it going, well, how do I feel about the death penalty? And this, it, and then you get, and then every, and then there's no one home and it's just you watching it with your thoughts. Crying. And you wonder why you're tearing up and you don't understand how this is supposed to be a movie that they would give him if he, okay. Does it shock you that I gave you that movie? It doesn't shock me at all. Okay. It's a 95%. It's a, it's a wonderfully, it's incredible. It has Sean Penn. It's incredible. He does a great job.

[00:10:08] But also, sister Helen Prejean, who is Susan Sarandon's character. Yeah. She won the Oscar. Met her in real life. I just want you to know. You met the real woman? I did. Oh, wow. That this film is based on. So yeah. In, in the story is that he's a horrible person that committed this act. It's not the, it's not that classic. It's an innocent man. You find out he's innocent later. That's not what this is. It's not Samuel L. It's not supposed to be that. It's supposed to be, this is a bad person that did bad things. Right.

[00:10:33] And so, but does he still deserve, you know, to not have his, have his life ended? What does that say about the culture overall? What does it say about like how the family's feeling about it? And then of course her relationship with God. Yeah. And the morality of, of that is just, it's, it's a very heavy movie. Yeah. So do you think, do you think he did deserve to die? Who me? Yeah. Jesus. I mean, we're not going to get into that. I mean, did he? Why not?

[00:11:00] I mean, I just, uh, if it, yeah, that's a, that's a, this is a movie. That's the best part of this movie. It's like, it makes you wonder. It's like, it is one of those films though, that it sticks with you for days after going like, oh, that is such a, it's not a simple question. Well, we live in a world these days where so well, you know, somebody like you take them out and back and shoot them and be done with it. And it's like, but we have rules and laws for a reason. So that just in case that you were on the other side of that, I don't know that you'd want them to be that flippant. Yeah.

[00:11:30] Uh, so that's, that's the, I think the only one that I, I think the only one that I feel that way about though is, is murder. Okay. Moving on. I'm dead serious. No, we, there's just a lot of nuance to a lot of crime, Brad is all I'm saying. I agree with, I, I totally agree with that when it comes to like the real cases. But I mean like if it's like a cut and dry murder case, like that's, you're an eye for an eye guy. Yeah. Yeah. But you still need due process. Sure. But if, but if that due process, I'm saying a lot of these people are just like take them all back and shoot them.

[00:12:00] And then that's different outside the courts. I'm like, what do you know? No, no, that's, that's totally different. I mean, if it's, if it's beyond a shadow of a doubt that this person is guilty and actually committed the crime of murdering somebody without reason, not no chance of self-defense or anything like that. I think that person deserves to die. All right. Thank you for listening to our comedy podcast. Brad Weller film. Did you watch? Oh, well I didn't watch basic instinct. No, we know. No, didn't do it. Also. I also watched dead man walking and let's keep talking about that.

[00:12:29] Super erect again. And I don't love it. I saw three movies this week in theaters on top of some that I rewatched. Uh, I saw Steven Spielberg disclosure day. He's man. I really want to see that. His new alien thriller. Uh, Spielberg is a master of sci-fi and creating thrills and awe and wonder. Um, this movie doesn't quite like hit its mark. I don't think I need, I really want to watch it again.

[00:12:58] And there's a lot to unpack with it. And the third act does something that I've had a difficult time reconciling whether it's truly a stroke of how good the filmmaking is or if it's what it inspires me to think about if this same thing were to happen in the real world is the, the thought of that awe and wonder in real life, what's actually doing the heavy lifting as opposed to it being the movie that is pulling that off for me. That if that makes sense. No, it doesn't. No, really.

[00:13:28] I didn't really get what you're saying there. Do you really not though? Uh, again, I, I, here's a, here's where I'm tempted to say I'm tempted to say no, I didn't cause I didn't, but I'm also tempted to say yes, I did. Cause I don't know if I want you to repeat all of it. I don't need to repeat all of it. It's a matter of like the movie creates an event, but it does so in such a fashion that it's very realistic to probably what would happen if that were to happen in the real world. If that makes sense. Okay. Yep.

[00:13:57] I don't know if the feeling that the movie brings about in me is because the movie is so good at actually depicting that or if it's the thought of me imagining if that happened in the real world. That's what, that's what I'm feeling. I mean, but that's what the movie is trying to get you to feel. I know, but I, but, but what is shown isn't what was actually making me feel that if that makes sense. It was the thought of that happening. Oh yeah.

[00:14:24] You had to, you had to borrow some of your thoughts in order for this to feel a price. I still, I think that that's like a conflatable in a positive way. No, that's the thing is. Because that's what a good movie should do. I think what I'm starting to come around to is that I think that it's a really good magic trick actually. If what's happening on screen can make you feel like you would, or if you, if that actually was something that you were experiencing. Right. No.

[00:14:49] And I'm sure, I mean, event specific here, like seeing the movie, you will understand what the hell you mean by all this. Right. Exactly. Yeah. You, you know exactly. But it's, um, the performances are great. The direction I'm sure is great. Of course, you know, and it's, it's got, it's got a little bit of old school Amblin flair to it every now and then. Um, I, I enjoy it for the most part, but there's, it's, it's, it doesn't quite stick the landing at all. Right. Yeah. What else did you watch?

[00:15:12] I also saw the, an action movie called The Furious, which is a Hong Kong action film that features a couple of the guys from the raid movies, which is an Indonesian action franchise. And it's, uh, it's basically just like a kidnapping thriller, but filled with the impeccable meticulous choreography that these martial arts guys, uh, do. And oh my God, the fight sequences in this are awesome.

[00:15:37] Like not only are they spectacularly choreographed, but like they get a little bit fun and like kooky every now and then we're just like, oh my God, I can't believe this is a thing that's happening. Just, just a blast from front to back. So good. Nate, you'll love it. I'm not going to see this, but go ahead. We're going to watch it. Nate, what, uh, what? Oh, sorry. No, I have something else, but you got, let's go around the horn. Uh, Nate, how about you buddy? Keep these good feelings rolling. Um, uh, I saw a few movies. Uh, this one here.

[00:16:07] Throw out one. Braggart. Um. Movies with an S on the end. Uh, let's talk first about, did you see Office Romance yet? No. Uh, Office Romance is a film that stars the, um, incredible actress Jennifer Lopez. And what is, what would you say is your favorite? It's a fine actress. What, what would you say is your favorite J-Lo film? Oh, uh. Out of sight? That's a good pick I would say. Um. Selena?

[00:16:38] Hustlers. Okay. She. I can do that. Whoa. Yeah. Um, but this is a film, this is just kind of a decent, not good rom-com. But it's not bad. And it's not bad because of one thing. What is, what is this? It's a Netflix romantic comedy with Brett Goldstein and Jennifer Lopez. And the reason this isn't. Aw, I can't. Yeah. The reason it's not bad is because of Brett Goldstein. Of course. Um, he's very good in this. Brett Goldstein, I also listen to his podcast.

[00:17:08] He loves rom-coms. He loves a good. He loves movies in general. Yeah, but he loves a good rom-com. And he wrote this with Joe Kelly who is his writing partner. Who also. Is this an R-rated romantic comedy? No, I don't think so. I'm just Brad's looking for the nudity. It is a little harder to tell sometimes with Netflix. I just want a nice close up beef shot. Of Jennifer Lopez? No. Brett Goldstein. Ha ha ha ha. To the. This seems to be, I think it's right at 50%.

[00:17:35] This seems to be perfectly kind of 50% type of movie. Oh, okay. I wasn't mad that I watched it. It probably won't be a movie that I'm going to watch a bunch of times. Did you laugh out loud frequently? Quite a bit. I thought there was, Brett Goldstein particularly, I think had some really good lines. He had some genuinely funny things in this film. Okay. That were not only funny, but somewhat charming as well. Yeah. He balances that well. It's a different Brett Goldstein from Roy Kent to shrinking.

[00:18:02] It is kind of a more charming Brett Goldstein. And I didn't hate it, but it wasn't something that I think you have to rush out to see. Okay. But definitely, if you are a fan of rom-coms and you've got a Friday Night Open and you want to watch this, not a terrible film to see. Okay. And J-Lo's, I think, just fine. Yeah. She's not, she doesn't hurt the film, but she doesn't make it though. Yeah. Um, the other film we saw was a film that I've already seen. Uh, I've got two more.

[00:18:27] Uh, a film that I've already seen one or actually many times, but my girlfriend Molly has not seen it yet. And we saw it, um, is the first time I've seen in a while. It's a film starring Adam Sandler called The Wedding Singer. Molly had not seen this film yet. What? Oh my God. That is crazy. Ben, be on the podcast. Sorry. What movie did she just see for the first time? Planes, Traves, and Automobiles. You stupid queef. No, no. I heard it. You dumb bastard.

[00:18:57] The Wedding Singer. Okay. Uh, fine. When's the last time you've seen The Wedding Singer? Uh... Yesterday. Actually, honestly, last year. Oh, really? I tend to just put it on sometimes if I just feel like... It aged well. Yeah. It is still so cute. Uh, Molly was commenting today, she's like, why aren't more, like, just charming rom-coms made like this? You know, that are... Yeah. You know, Adam Sandler seemed to have a kind of a run there, right? Yeah. 50 First Dates.

[00:19:25] They're not great films, but for some reason you put them on every year, right? Yeah. Like, and The Wedding Singer isn't a great film, but I think it's like a great rom-com, right? I think The Wedding Singer is a great film, honestly. I think it's just because it's a romantic comedy doesn't mean you can't call it a great film, and I think it's one of the best rom-coms. It's definitely one of Adam Sandler's best movies. It's by far one of Adam Sandler's best movies. It's just, it's very funny, it's very charming, and it doesn't over-utilize the things that would start to get tired later in the movies.

[00:19:52] The Wedding Singer is the best of Adam Sandler comedies, as far as like the quality of the film overall. And the best use of his friends. Because you can't compare this to like Uncut Gems or something like that. No, of course not. So you can't say it's like maybe even his best performance, but it's the best movie of that ilk of like The Waterboy and Billy Madison. Like I think I would put... You think it's better than Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore? Yes. Oh, absolutely, yeah. Okay. I would put The Wedding Singer in the top five of Adam Sandler's best movies overall.

[00:20:22] I would as well. Better than Little Nicky. I secretly like that movie. Not a secret anymore. I don't hate it. I secretly like Mr. Deeds. I don't hate it. I don't hate Mr. Deeds either. Mr. Deeds is when I started to be like, hmm, I don't think he's got it anymore. We've had this exact conversation on this podcast. Yeah, and we're going to have it again and again. No, we're not. Every time you want to talk about how great Mr. Deeds is. I didn't love Anger Management. Yeah, every time I bring it up. Did you guys like Anger Management? I think I saw it once. It was fine. Would you put 50 First Dates in this top five of these rom-com type movies? Oh.

[00:20:52] Or the comedy movies? It'd be close, but I think it would probably just make the cut at five. Okay. You know what film I genuinely love? Grown Ups. Spanglish. Spanglish isn't really his comedy though. I know. That's a James L. Brooks movie. So it dances to the line. Do you like Spanglish? I like Spanglish a lot. What about I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry? Oh, that's a classic. All-timer. That's number one. Yeah. Well, you know what? Jessica Biel in that movie, fine. It's probably in my top five. No, that's fair. Just absolutely- Just the one part though. Just weird.

[00:21:22] Weirdly gorgeous. I've never seen You Don't Mess With the Zohan. Oh, don't worry about it. I know. I'm like, this is not- Don't mess with the Zohan. Man. Oh. The collective groans for both of you? Oh, that's a win for old Brad. The final film I saw was a film that recently came out called Michael. And I saw this- The Angel movie with John Travolta? Shut up. Shut up. Brad, you are the only one laughing. Why are you so mad about that?

[00:21:53] Why is he so mad about that? Jesus Christ. That's a perfect reference. We can't get through two sentences anymore with all Chuckles McChuckstein over here. Oh, I'm sorry. That the movie about Michael Jackson is named after the movie that John Travolta plays an angel in. That's my fault. Jesus. Please continue, Nate. Give me a break. John Travolta is not in this. But- Bet you wish he was though. Things are gratifying? Well, did you see he's had some surgery recently. He's looking very young. He looks 47. Yeah, he had a beret, so to his head.

[00:22:25] Jesus. Did you see the article about that though? Yeah. John Travolta, like he just announcing that he's in his hat phase. Yeah, he has a whole new look now. And he's like, well, I'm acting as a director. And so I'm going to dress like a director. And he's- So that's why he did it. Cause he's insane. Yeah, he's kooky. That's just a really weird thing to do. Yeah, he's a goofball. Yeah.

[00:22:54] Um, did you see Michael yet? Yeah. It's fine. It's- I swear to God, we've already talked about this. I talked about this. You talked about it. Yeah. But it's not bad. But I don't remember what you said. It's not bad. It's actually good in parts. Some of the music is really fun. Oh, it was on the radio. Oh yeah. I don't remember starting. And we talked about the trailer. We did. Yeah. So yeah, I think that our conversation- Did you see this yet, Ben? No, I haven't. The conversation we had before though was, this is in the same vein of a Bohemian Rhapsody.

[00:23:23] You think it's better than it is because you love the music. I think it's better than Bohemian Rhapsody, but not by a ton. I put it on the exact same threshold because I- While I think the performances by each of the lead actors was admirable in some parts, I think that-

[00:23:50] It really tricks you into thinking it's good because you like the music and you remember how cool it was to hear this for the first time and be caught up in how good that music is. And it makes you think you're watching a really good movie because it's recounting this thing that you love. But it's not doing anything more than just reminding you that it happened. It's not adding any additional context or significance or meaning or anything like that. Yeah. And it doesn't really get into any more of the contemporary conversations about Michael Jackson that are super safe, right?

[00:24:18] Joe Jackson was pretty mean to his kids. Yeah. These kind of things. It doesn't really explore any of the other stuff that I think many people wonder about Michael Jackson. Well, it also only goes up to a certain point in his career. You don't even get to the part where he was accused of it. And that was supposed to be something that was addressed apparently in the end of this movie, but there was a legal issue that came up that they weren't aware of until they had already shot it. Oh, so they shot it. Yeah, they shot this and they had to go back and do reshoots to fix the ending because they made a reference or allusion to the case.

[00:24:47] And in the settlement for the case, for the family that was involved, they had very strict instructions in the settlement that it could not be depicted or discussed or anything in a film. It's really interesting though because Michael Jackson's estate helped make this film. Right. And so they were okay with that stuff being in the film. But I imagine it would probably be a thing of like, it happened to him, but they're not going to make it seem like he was guilty or anything.

[00:25:09] If anything, I think this movie tries to accomplish the opposite by focusing so much on the philanthropy that he did at like kids hospitals and stuff like that because that kind of makes you feel like, ooh, I mean, that's very nice that he did that. But also, I don't know if the intentions were all that noble. Yeah, let me pick him out. His voice wasn't that deep. He hee. He hee. He hee. He hee. The child actor that plays Michael. Oh, jeez. That's Michael Jackson at the children's hospital. Wow.

[00:25:39] Dark. It was pretty dark. It was very dark. He hee. He hee. Okay. But that's all I saw. Did you like it? I didn't like it, but there were parts I liked about it. Yeah. And you're absolutely right. You're right on. And it's the music parts. Yeah, it's I also thought the the child actor that played Michael Jackson. Oh, for sure. Very good. Great performance. Yeah. The performances were good.

[00:26:04] My long is very good, but it doesn't add anything to these terrible. We got the. Well, I always always it was Michael would have loved him. The child actor. Yeah, the child actor because of the molestation. No, no, because he I was. Oh, no, I was just talking about like he'd like him as a like respected that he looked like Michael. He did a good job. That's all I meant. He looked like John Travolta. Okay. Um, but that's all I saw. But I do have. I do have. I do have. I do have before when we're done with this. I do.

[00:26:34] I want to remind you on the podcast. I do have some mail call that I want to get to. Oh, yeah. We got mail back. You rushed this. Hey, what did you watch? I watched the saddest movie that I've seen in a while. Yeah. Dead Men Walking. Definitely. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks for the moral wrestling. It's a nice change of pace, though, where Ben's the one who watches assignment and then you know, right? High five. He's a piece of crap. Snap. Um, but I also watched, uh, so the boys were swimming and I got like an hour and a half

[00:27:02] to myself and I threw on in the middle of the day. I like closed the curtains and put on Netflix. It's the movie with Kiki Palmer. Oh, uh, yeah. One bad day. One bad day. So I watched that. Uh, and it was awesome. Yeah. It's really funny. It's so fun. Yeah. It reminded me a lot of like Friday vibes. Yeah. But dumb and dumber too. Yeah. Yeah. Like a mix of Friday and dumb and dumber. Yeah. Yep. No, it's a lot of fun. Yeah. I liked that a lot. What's it called? Uh, one bad day. Oh no, it's one of those days. Sorry.

[00:27:32] One of those days. I don't think that's what it's called. One of those days. Okay. All right. Yeah. It's a simple enough story that rents do. They're, they, they have to try to find a way to make some money because rents do. Yeah. And she keeps going wrong. It's just a cavalcade of errors. Yeah. Uh, some her fault, some not her fault. Yeah. But they're hilarious, man. What is this called? One of those days. One of those days. Maybe it's one of them days. Okay.

[00:28:01] Are you, do you have a problem? Do you think that we're making this up? Oh, and then there's a one fight scene with her and Iron Man. But if we're going to talk about the film, let's get the name of the film right. I thought we did. You haven't yet. Yes, we did. I said it's one of them days. You just said that though. Right. So I got it right a moment ago. Again, he's pointing out why are we going through this. But you said we haven't gotten it right so far and then you just confirmed that I said it. We just did. We just did. Okay.

[00:28:30] Get the name right. Ben, am I going crazy? I think that this is the, hey everybody, it's time for a game. Let's play a game that Brad brought for us. One of them days is very funny. Yeah, I brought a game. It's called Enjoy Your Fucking Banana Tootsie Rolls. It's like that was locked and loaded. I don't know why. I can't wait to bring up these banana tootsie rolls again. I'm going to throw it right in their goddamn faces. That's the fucking game. You get it locked and loaded. You piece of shit.

[00:29:00] My God. I watched one more movie. Oh boy. Did you see any other movies? I watched the Martin Short documentary. Oh, how was it? It was great. What's that on? Netflix. Netflix. Yep. I watched that today as well. As good as or better than or not as good as the Steve Martin documentary. Who do you like better? You know, there were things in this one that I didn't know about Martin Short and it wasn't

[00:29:29] about necessarily his childhood and stuff. It was about the relationship. Childhood's sad. Yeah, real sad. But the relationships he had with everybody from SETV and how he literally fit in. And the one pretty poignant moment was where young Martin Short is hanging out with all those people. They talk about that cast of Godspell? Yes. Yes.

[00:29:54] And they talked about the fact that he wasn't going to audition. Yeah. Because he's like, no, I'm more of a singer and a performer, not an actor. And then he just the way that they talk about it in the film about like his decision feeling kind of on the outside then looking in. I would have never assumed that about Martin Short. Yeah. And it was just such a weird and interesting angle. Yeah. There's apparently a whole documentary coming out at some point.

[00:30:24] It played in Chicago at one of the film festivals, but I couldn't make it to see it. That's about that specific cast of Godspell that he was in because that cast of Godspell, unbelievable, like murder's role of talent. Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Martin Short. Paul Schaefer. Paul Schaefer. There's like one or two other people. Victor Garber. Victor Garber. Dave Thomas. There you go. I don't know if you. So for those of you that don't know, all of those people became super fucking famous comedians in America on television. Or just actors in general. Yeah.

[00:30:54] Or actors in general. Yeah. All of them blew up. Every single one of them was a household name. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah. That's just, you just don't see stuff like that. Yeah, exactly. And honestly, that got me down a little bit of a rabbit hole on YouTube with Rune. I got to show Matt Foley the motivational speaker. Nice. Yeah. And he definitely loved the physical humor of Matt Foley. Of course.

[00:31:18] And I had to explain to him afterwards about the pot thing because, I don't know, he just he's like, why would that motivate you to not do drugs? Like he was... He did the irony of it. The irony that it's like that. But obviously when I was his age, I didn't get the irony either. It was just Chris Farley being loud and bawling. Here's you, here's me. I mean, so Ender and Rune now have both seen that independently of each other.

[00:31:44] And the takeaways I got were that as soon as he hits the table, they both look at me and just like, he really did that? Yeah. Like, because it wasn't CGI. You don't see that kind of comedy anymore. Exactly. It was real. And it was just so cool that they both literally were like in awe of it. Yeah. And I was like, yeah, man. That's cool. Oh, and honestly, to put a cap on it, I did. I watched Happy Gilmore with Ender. Oh, nice. He watched a lot of films.

[00:32:11] Oh, well, Rune was on his Boy Scout High Adventure trip. And so he was gone all week. And so we had a little Ender time. So I did try to show him a couple things that I thought he'd be into. And not that Rune wouldn't be into Happy Gilmore, but he really, really liked it a lot. I have a picture of him watching it and he was just kind of like leaning forward with his knuckles on his cheeks and with real enjoyment. And I just remember doing that for me when I was his age.

[00:32:39] I texted you in our thread when you told us this. I remember distinctly Happy Gilmore being one of the hardest times I ever laughed watching a movie, like with my parents and it was at my aunt's house in Illinois. Every weekend that we went there, they would always rent videos from there. And they put on Happy Gilmore, didn't know what it was, wasn't familiar with Adam Sandler at that point. And the two parts that made me laugh so hard, I was almost peeing my pants, were first when

[00:33:08] the kid steps into the batting cage and gets hit with the ball. Yep. And then second, when the clown keeps spitting, knocking the ball back and when he spits it out, fucking lost my mind. I was laughing so hard. And I remember it to this day. It was such a visual memory for me. So we were talking, I can't remember who I was talking about, but I was talking about the reason that people Ender's age, nine year old, 10, 11, 12, even 13.

[00:33:34] If you're shown Happy Gilmore right then and there, and that's the first interaction you've had with any sort of kind of violent comedy like that, where the comedy does come from things that are very physical, but they're not, they're not gunshots and they're not stab wounds, obviously. But it's, it's what a, what a person that age wishes they could do in this situation. Yeah. They've all been there. And so when, when the clown spits off the thing or the, the golf ball, every nine year old, I just, I just would have heard Ender say it.

[00:34:04] Oh man, I would just beat him up. Yeah. And so when he does it in the film, there's a real connection. That's really interesting. Actually. I do think, yeah, there's something about cause he breaks the clown's nose. He tackles a guy, beats a guy, but not, he's only when he's like super provoked. Yeah. And so that's a real line to a nine year old going like, yeah, when I'm provoked, I would like to do that kind of stuff. No, you're right. And I think it's that the idea of that, that character that he's playing is so immature. Yes. And that's why it connects on that level for kids because they're right there. They're right there with it. Yeah.

[00:34:32] And that part of it has quote unquote stood the test of time. Cause you can watch that at Ender's nine and it doesn't matter that not a video game was to be had in Happy Gilmore. It doesn't matter. It's evergreen. Yeah. That's awesome. That's some staying power for real. That is. I agree. That's, that's really interesting point. All right. Nate, your thoughts? Yeah. I agree. Um, wow. Wow. Um, I kind of zoned out a little bit. I'm not going to lie. Oh, you did? I did.

[00:35:01] Thanks for being on the podcast buddy. You knew I did. That's why you called me out on it. Wait, did you? I was trying to involve him in the conversation. I was just, I was just kind of zoned out. Uh, you, are you sleeping? No. Okay. I'm just, I was just zoned out right there, but anyway. You got somewhere to be? What, uh, what other film did you see? I saw another movie. Cool. It's called Toy Story 5. I bet it's, uh, spoil it. No, what? Oh, spoiler. Okay.

[00:35:31] Uh, I will say that it's, it's genuinely great. Does Woody die? Oh God, he, so hard. They have a whole like Saving Private Ryan S sequence where like the color gets dim and like the sound drowns out and Woody's walking around with his arm blown off and stuffing coming out of his side. Well, it's a, it's a real easy Viking funeral. Yeah. So, okay. Rank, rank the five. Uh, Toy Story 3. Is number one. Yes.

[00:35:57] It's Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 5, Toy Story 4. Okay. But, but, but Toy Story 4 further down. Not that it's bad. Yeah. It's just a different level of quality. Okay. How far away is Toy Story 2 from Toy Story 5 for you? Uh, not too far, honestly. Okay. No, it's, it's not, it's not a big jump at all. Um, it's, it's very well done. It's my, the thing that I was most satisfied to see was that it's not just a movie that's

[00:36:26] about, uh, oh, tech has become really bad and like people, kids need to play with toys again. Sure. The toys are worried that they're not getting played with as much, but that's not the driving force of the story. The driving force is the toys. Wait, what? No, no, this doesn't spoil anything. All right. It's, it's, it's, it's, you see it in the, in the thing. It's the idea of that they're trying to help Bonnie connect with a friend and technology isn't helping their, her do that in the way that other people seem to think that it does. Gotcha. But it's the way the movie approaches it.

[00:36:54] It's a, it's a much sharper, uh, angle thematically and it resonates a lot more because it has a stronger emotional core. And this is the only other toy story movie besides toy story three that makes you care as much about what's happening with the human characters as you do the toys. Okay. That's interesting. Yeah. It's, it's very well done. Okay. And Conan O'Brien. Does Sid die? Oh yeah. He gets murdered. It's about time. The same place that Woody does. Thank God. Yeah. It's a wolf attack. It's a wolf attack.

[00:37:23] But no, uh, Conan O'Brien is a voice of a new character in this movie. He is a scene stealer. He is hilarious. His character is awesome. Sweet. It's so much fun. Um, it's, it's, it's really, really good. And there's, there's a great story that feels like it's a, something that is running separately from the main story, but the way everything ties together is done really well and has some fun surprises too. Okay. All right. Yeah. You guys should see it in theaters. When does it open? It's open June 19th. That's, uh, this week. Okay.

[00:37:53] So see it. All right. With your kids. All right. All right. You guys ready for mail? Yeah. Viewer mail. Do your mail song, Nate. I don't do it. Ben. Wink. An idiot. Nate, you actually, no, you do the mail song. Yeah. Actually you did it last time. You do the mail song. Oh, did I? Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead. Oh, we're halfway there. Oh, open in the mail. Open in the mail.

[00:38:25] Okay. What? That's pretty good. Come on. I think we knocked out of the park. Nate, why are you judgy? I think if anyone asked for a mail song and they didn't appreciate that, they can go fuck themselves to Tubetown. Tubetown to Tubetown. Tubetown to Tubetown. Bump, bump, bump, bump. Fuck themselves in Tubetown. Bump, bump. All right. We've got two comments from Facebook, one comment from YouTube. Let's go with the comment. Actually, Ben, open this up.

[00:38:51] You posted on our Facebook page about a problem you have with the cars world. Oh, it's not just one problem. Yeah. Let's just summarize this for our listeners. Newer listeners that it might not be OGs. Original gangsters. Oh, shut up, Brad. We used to talk a lot about the cars universe. Pixar made three movies and then there have been TV show things. There have been mini episodes.

[00:39:20] They did a movie, Planes. All in this kind of shared universe. And it's a bonkers universe. We've talked about it all the time. Like why do the cars have door handles if no one ever gets in them? Like where did this, where did the cars evolve from? Yeah. And then there's questions about there's a, there's a, a Popemobile. So there's Catholicism in the cars universe. And there's a Sarge is an army Jeep from 1942 who was in the war. Right. They say it.

[00:39:47] So Adolf Hitler exists in the cars universe as a car. Right. I, I, you know, all of these in actual insane things. Yeah. That come from these anthropomorphized vehicles. It's wild. So there are my favorite ones was, uh, why is there a school bus? Exactly. In the cars universe. There's no children who are cars and where like, where are they? And there's, uh, there were motorcycle handlebars that were like as like hunted for sport, like antlers.

[00:40:15] So that was just nuts. Tons of just weird, weird stuff in the cars universe. And I, I did bring it back up because the car's 20th anniversary was just the other day. And so I was not sleeping well. I've got some neck pain lately. So I was on a pain pill and I was like, let's talk about the cars universe again. So about three o'clock in the morning, I penned a nice love letter to the weird cars universe. Yes. Uh, one of the weirder parts of it, we didn't even get to yet.

[00:40:44] Uh, there are car boobies, just car titties. It's implied. It's not even implied. It's just, they're rare. It's there. You see the headlights. Yeah. They flash lightning in a queen. Yeah. Uh, with their high beams and it's that are the boobs. Yeah, exactly. And so that's just, it's just so weird. It's flashing. Yes, Brad. I like the lights. Shut up. So here's the thing. Yeah. You're a hundred percent right. Uh, I, I linked to this in the Facebook post that Ben made too.

[00:41:14] And if you want to see it, but years ago I did a press visit to Pixar for cars three. And so I got a chance to talk to some of the people who work on the cars movies and I get to ask them some of the questions that we've all had about the cars universe. And the main answer as far as like any questions that like require complex thoughts or like would need a weird explanation for things. They just don't go near them if they don't have to. Well, no crap. Right.

[00:41:41] Because they said that they just, but they, they, they go into religion, but they go into the war. They said once they try to talk about it and think about it, like it just gets weird. Well, it collapses on itself pretty quickly. Yeah. Of course it would. Don't, don't overcompensate it. Right. Exactly. They're, they're talking cars. It's, but it's fun. Some of the stuff they do think about and just like the logistics of a universe that they would be cars. Okay. Just like, how do you like, okay, you take off your tires or those shoes or those socks or are those your actual feet? Yeah. Does it hurt to remove a tire?

[00:42:11] Exactly. Well, it can't because then that would terrify kids. Right. So we have to make sure that the tires like the shoes then. How do the cars reproduce? And again, there's a lot of little cars running around. There's not though. Is that me? No, it was me. No. It was an alarm. I couldn't, that'll go off no matter what. What do you mean? An alarm for what? For recycling. I love how you just took no responsibility immediately.

[00:42:42] Oh, I'm going to go over everything. No, I just meant I do have my, everything is silenced, but alarms will not. There's nothing I could have done. There's nothing I could have done. You could have turned that on. There's nothing I could have done there. No, I didn't. Well, it's a, it's a weekly one. And so I don't think about it. But you can still turn it off. No, but I didn't think about it because it's weekly. I'm not thinking about all the time, Nate. It's not like when I go, oh, I got to take my communion wafers today. But he did quickly. Your communion wafers? Yeah. You know what? Sometimes you got alarms and you forget that they're happening. Okay?

[00:43:14] So I'm not perfect, Nathan. Geez. Anyway, I wrote an article about some of this stuff and the answers were pretty amusing, to say the least. Oh, I'm sure. They've got, yeah, it's just the way they have to go about it is, and I guess I do see what you're saying, Brad. Like, unless the story somehow were to call for it, we're not going to get into that as far as how that could be a logistical thing in the universe. Sure. I get it now. All right.

[00:43:42] So all that said, you did post this on Facebook and we got a comment here. A hate mail. He said, stop the podcast. No, this is from a long time listener, guest of the show, Alex Pappas. He said, the problem was planes. Planes had that explicit war flashback. Every night I go to sleep imagining cars D-Day. Every morning I wake up to still be there. And so is that, like, really the problem planes?

[00:44:12] I think there were problems. Oh, no. There were problems before that, but planes does not help. It cements a lot of those things. They could have a few one-offs that didn't matter, but yeah, they did. Well, we've already got Sarge. Let's go for it. Right. So yeah, just real weird. All right. And then we got another comment from Sarah Cecilia who wants to talk a little bit about Star Wars. She says, I love and relate to I like dumb Star Wars more than smart Star Wars. Who said that, by the way? Alex Pappas. Alex did that, yeah. Okay. Previous commenter, Alex Pappas.

[00:44:38] Also, my 10-year-old wanted to watch Mando because of Grogu and now she's super excited to watch more Star Wars. Also, also, Sheep Detectives really was fantastic. I've been describing it to people the same way Brad did. Oh, yeah. Great film. Everyone should see it. Best film of the year. And then... It's not getting crazy. Project Hail Mary is out there. Calm down. No, but to her point though, like her comment about the Mando thing, we were talking previously

[00:45:04] about like, does that do anything for the franchise other than, you know, just be a movie? Right. And the onboarding of somebody like Sarah's daughter now because of the child. Yeah. You know, there are people that find Star Wars that way, but that of course was not the main reason they did this. No, of course. And I mean, in some ways it is. Like, it's an entry point for kids for sure. But like, then you got to wonder though, is what they like about Mando only going to work because of Grogu?

[00:45:31] Like, will they be able to get into 1977 Star Wars if there's not a Grogu, you know, for them to be like, oh, look at that cute thing. Yeah. And that's a great question because I think that there's diminishing returns there. Yeah. I don't know how you do, how you're going to make those connections without the adorable thing. And I think that's the biggest problem in general with Star Wars is I think Star Wars from here on out probably won't have anything except diminishing returns because it won't be able

[00:45:59] to please both fans who have been with it since for going on 50 years now and then a whole new audience to keep it alive and keep it going. They've done a pretty good job so far of keeping it all together. I mean, people that love the Star Wars, the Star Wars back in the 70s still love it today. Right. But not all of it. Not all of it, but like a lot of fandom could really splinter in a billion different ways there. And it really hasn't. There's like, there's a lot of people that really are still fans of, like they'll see

[00:46:27] the next movie, they'll watch the next thing no matter what. They're curious, but like there's a lot of people who, you know, were mad at The Last Jedi or mad at The Rise of Skywalker or who don't like the route that a lot of the TV shows are taking because, you know, it doesn't feel exactly like Star Wars. You know, it's weird. Yeah. Nerds. All right. Final comment. This is from our YouTube channel. Allie Strupp says, I'd like to propose a new segment where Nate reviews movies exclusively

[00:46:57] using the sounds he makes during the movie. I give this one a, yee-ha. Uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, no, nope, nope, nope, nope. All right. Those are, thank you so much for commenting. Uh, if you would like your comment read, uh, comment on our crap. That was a great comment YouTube, Spotify

[00:47:26] You can also send us a message Through our email Here's my home address Check out our OnlyFans It's called Go Hey, it's time What is that? You got an Italian game show you're doing? Hey, it's time For The trailer song, go ahead Oh, he's right, it's time for the trailer song You thought the podcast was over I really did Forgot we were doing this

[00:47:59] Take your time Yeah, don't worry about it You'd always do this to me What am I supposed to do? Did you hear what Brad did? Yeah It was masterful I don't know that anybody could beat that It gives me nerves Don't have nerves, have strength Have strength? Just do it Do it to the tune of Love Shack We did that already Do it to the tune of Rock Lobster We did that already Oh, Rock Lobster

[00:48:35] Wow Do it to the tune of Rocket Man I don't know that song You know Elton John's Rocket Man? No I can't think right now You're putting me on the spot I can't think What about a Michael Jackson song? Yeah I can't think Ben Ben What? Listen, give me a second Cause these are trailers Trailer time We're watching Cliff to show off movies on the internet Yes, right, it's trailers

[00:49:04] See, it's not that fucking hard Oh, thank God That was great Yes It's the new Ben strategy Brad so mad He just does it himself Yep Point Ben I don't know I think trailers is pretty great though It's one of the better songs we've had That's a good one Yeah Oh, and then compliment him So he doesn't get himself Yeah, so Great That was really funny Thanks Ben And I appreciate your authenticity

[00:49:33] Every single time you say something That's funny, buddy He knows me Nate What trailer do you want to talk about first, buddy? Let's talk a little bit about the social reckoning Uh-huh That was the first time I've seen that trailer This is And you guys know I'm a Sorkin guy I love Aaron Sorkin a lot Oh yeah, he loves West Wing is my favorite Oh yeah, he loves Soaking the corks Stop it Aaron Sorkin wrote two of my favorite shows And I like Molly's Game Great film Not just cause your girlfriend's name's in it? Yeah

[00:50:02] It's even prior But this is the Essentially Kind of the sequel Would you say the sequel? No, it's definitely a sequel It's Aaron Sorkin Reconciling What Facebook became And its impact on the political scene Thanks to influencing elections And spreading misinformation But this does not have David Fincher It does not have David Fincher It does not have Jesse Eisenberg Either But it does have Jeremy Strong From Succession

[00:50:31] Playing Mark Zuckerberg this time And Sorkin did write the script But he is directing And Sorkin can Has a tendency to be a little more Heavy handed And not as subtle As David Fincher Yeah Which do you Do you like that better? No Do you think of the Mark Zuckerberg character though? Because some people did think Fincher just has such a light touch On so many aspects of a film That it's almost imperceptible Okay, here's a question for you then A lot of people Now when they talk about the social network They talk about

[00:51:01] Essentially Making Mark Zuckerberg Look a little bit better than he is Right? He doesn't come out The villain in that film Right Like they find a way to Not likable But not Exactly Not the villain necessarily And so But a lot of people do think Mark Zuckerberg is a villain Including Jesse Eisenberg Who didn't want to portray him again Oh really? Is that Okay Because he basically Didn't like the type of fans That were coming up

[00:51:30] Asking him to sign things as him Or You know Do the lines from the movie Right Because they were fans of that guy Yeah And he just Didn't want to sign his name To that Again You know Being linked with him And so Aaron Sorkin then Might not be as Delicate with some of this Do you think he's gonna go A little bit more Heavy handed Or a little bit more Critical of Zuckerberg Obviously now Is a different world Right? We know more about

[00:52:00] Mark Zuckerberg now Yeah So I mean It will be more critical If only because I think that the Zuckerberg That he became Is definitely A little Somewhat different Than the Zuckerberg You might have Knew at that point in time When I feel like it is A little bit of Commentary now Is a little bit of Revisionist history When you talk about The social network Because They're treating Mark Zuckerberg now As if that was Mark Zuckerberg then Right? Well In some cases In certain aspects It was But he definitely Evolved And became More of someone

[00:52:30] Who does have Villainous tendencies Yeah So In the trailer I like The performance That he's putting On It feels like He is Tapping into What Jesse Eisenberg Brought to a performance But also Doing Like what Zuckerberg Is also like In real life He's not You know Doing an impression Of Eisenberg's Performance But I think They're both Touching upon The same Traits And like Way that he Presents himself Yeah No he It looks Authentic

[00:52:59] It looks Authentic He just To me The only thing That threw me Off Is A little old For me In this But I thought His impression How old Is Zuckerberg Today I think He Guess Brad 45 42 Not far off I didn't give The chance Yeah but Also This film I didn't give The chance To guess

[00:53:29] Go ahead And guess Now No Well it's 42 Oh see Good job Ben But this Film Oh that's So disingenuous This film Wow It really Was It really Just Fucking Blew you Up And right Before Thanksgiving Didn't give You the Time of Day On America's 250th birthday Yeah But this Film Right before Turkey day Takes place

[00:53:58] In when Zuckerberg's In his Mid 30s Sure So But by that Point he'd Live A thousand I just I don't Love that I just That took Me off Because I Knew that Zuckerberg At this Point Is not As old As like Yeah That's fair He looks Like in this So But Strong Or is it Jeremy Strong Yeah He is a good Actor though And his Impression or his Kind of impersonation Or whatever he's Doing there He's very good Yeah Better than Jesse Eisenberg

[00:54:28] I do want to Bring up the Conversation we Had off mic Because it's Something that Has become Kind of like A weird thing Online With Mikey Madison's First line In this Trailer Or second Line in The trailer Being somewhat Unintelligible Yeah Where people Are either Not able to Understand what She's saying Or they very Clearly hear what The line is Like there's no In between Yeah it's how You process Words Yeah Honestly Because it's And what's funny Is the line She says Right before I want to Make something Very clear And then she

[00:54:58] Says the line Half people are Not understanding But she doesn't Garble it just Sounds like Gatelagook to me It literally did Not sound like Words Me and Molly Heard it right Away On the first One Caitlin did you Understand it No Okay Ashley did you Understand it Right away No Ben and I Still don't hear it Yeah I still Don't know what She said So Molly and Brad Are the smartest In the room Clearly Yeah Or at least the Best years Fine I'm good With that too Because it was Gobbledygook I said off air That it reminded Me of that Italian singer That made up

[00:55:28] An English Sounding song Yeah Oh yeah Hey And he just Sang gobbledygook Words And it was like A number one hit In Italy And they thought It was really English It sounds American Wow Look at this Far out song Yeah Insanity And that's Basically what That trailer was I couldn't Understand her Anyway I think the movie Looks intriguing I am worried About the lack Of subtlety From Aaron Sorkin That's my biggest Concern

[00:55:57] And plus As a filmmaker He's just not As good as Fincher Sure Few people are So we'll see Maybe The cast At least Looks fantastic You'll see this Oh yeah 100% The Social Network Is one of my All time favorite movies I think it's Maybe the best movie Of the 21st century I actually just Recently rewatched Again because I showed it to Caitlin for the First time Because she Didn't really have An interest in Seeing it She was like I don't need to See that kind of Movie But I don't think She Would it be fair To say you Didn't have a full Grasp on like What the movie Really was

[00:56:27] Until you watched It She said sure Did you like The movie Caitlin No No But did you Did you think The movie Was good But you just Don't like What it Yeah So that's The thing So wait Good movie Bad movie Okay Alright Alright So not Not bad Ratings because You don't like That kind of Movie anyway So it would Take a Tremendous Herculean Effort Just to say

[00:56:56] It was fine Right Okay And it's because That kind of Thing just Bummed you Out Yeah Yeah Yeah Just make You feel like This is It's too That's why I didn't like Marty Supreme Too much Respect for The sport It's pretty Good Alright What other Trailer Did we watch I don't remember Do you guys Wow You don't Remember the Other trailer You don't Either It's whale The whale one

[00:57:26] Yeah exactly Whale fall Whale rider This trailer It's free willy This trailer Rules This is insane Yeah I don't know If the trailer Rules It is just It's a scene Like a scene Of the film Yeah But that's a great Trailer Yeah it's a great Trailer Because you're like Wait a minute This is the Premise of the movie Yeah Is a guy Getting swallowed By a whale Yeah I am all in To see how This goes Yeah Is this Is this Literally like

[00:57:56] Film In one location In the whole movie Is how he's And it's based On a book It's a novel And yeah That's what the Premise is It's like Buried in a whale Yeah Buried in a whale Here's where I am a little bit Excited about this The guy that Directed and made This is Brian Duffield And what did he Do outside of this No one will save you Yes Which I think We all love that From here And so That is such

[00:58:26] A good film Yeah He did one Before this But I don't I don't remember It It's spontaneous Do you remember I haven't seen it But I've heard It's very good He's written more He wrote Skull Island Yeah He's a great writer too Love and Monsters Which we all love Yeah So great writer A small But good Filmography For directing This should be good Yeah And it has Josh Brolin in it Yes I'm gonna guess This is like a Josh Brolin

[00:58:56] Doing two days of filming Though Do you feel like that There's probably I think there's probably More flashbacks in store Yeah But yeah He came in And he helped the film With a day or two of filming To give his name to the film Maybe This seemed Well I mean It's literally I think just like He also did motion capture For the whale It's just Who's Austin Abrams He's the main guy I know but What is he He's Jonah Yeah Yeah He was just in weapons Oh I know who he is

[00:59:25] You know how I know he is Oh because you watch weapons Nope Yeah no of course not Better yet Better yet You're never gonna watch that movie Netflix released Didn't he see weapons No Oh What No What How Are we going back in time We've just not met Nate Mr. I watched the aliens With the lights on In the middle of the day And as soon as the clock hit 12.02 I knew it was too late in the day To keep going Exactly This is a morning movie

[00:59:55] For old Nate Is this new to you What is the Well I I just make sure the curtains are open So there's so much glare on the TV I can barely see it Exactly I don't understand why Like I do watch him on mute I watch him on mute too Just to What is the What were you gonna say What is Okay What's the end I know him Austin Abrams Because Yeah He was in In 2020 Netflix did this show That is a Christmas show A small little series Oh okay

[01:01:53] She knows good adventure When she sees one Then we'll see it Yeah Did I make you watch Crawl Me Yeah It's the alligator movie Yeah Yeah It'll be like that A little bit Just like that But whales Yeah In Russia Whale eat you I just don't like to think of Whales being that violent To be fair The whales not being violent It's a serious circumstance Bleeding heart Okay I just I just don't like my Mellon being violent I just don't like to believe That whales

[01:02:24] Like Would eat an octopus But not a human Well he's not trying to eat the human The octopus pulls him in The whale's not like Oh shit There's a human in my mouth He might He can't taste him Why is there COVID No he doesn't know He doesn't know what Human meat tastes like He's not like Oh shit I can taste the human Is this political about COVID It's about abortion Whale fall That's just That's an aggressive name For a pregnant lady Brad Whoa That's too far man You can't say that Yeah you shouldn't say Whale fall is a lady
