Episode 234 - A Genuine Thanks to Nate But Only from Brad

Ben, Brad, and Nate are wrapping up the Christmas season (no pun intended) with a dose of holiday fun! They've all been watching Christmas movies like A Christmas Story, Red One, and That Christmas. But on top of that, all three of them also watched Carry-On, which is basically the new Die Hard (though not quite as good). Brad has also been watching a few other things, but Ben is really excited about his thoroughly inappropriate streaming series that he can't get enough of. Plus, we talk about the trailers for Karate Kid: Legends (STARRING FAMED IMPROVISER RALPH MACCHIO) and Superman (IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S GOVERNMENT DRONES!). Are you feeling our Christmas spirit? That sounds dirty. Sorry. (No, we're not).

[00:00:16] Hey everybody, it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself. My name is Ben Conowitz and with me as always is the Velma to my Fred, Brad Oman. Jinkies, that's me! That's your best Velma? Jinkies! And the Scooby Doo to my Fred, Nate Laux. Ruh-roh! Have we done Scooby Doo before? I don't think so. I don't think that was it. Ruh! I'm a little low on that one. Ruh-roh!

[00:00:45] It's like Grover as Scooby Doo. Kermit the Frog as... Ruh-roh! Doesn't he do a ruh-roh or no? Ruh-roh! Yeah, yeah. That was no better than mine. Ruh-roh! The rah-hee-hee is what he does though more. Ruh-hee-hee! Rah-hee-hee! That's a horse. I mean, he's a big dog. Marmaduke! Black Wild Scoob!

[00:01:14] Oh, nice. That was pretty good. You've been working on your shaggy, haven't you? Yeah, guys. I'm Fred. Pretty good. I've been working on that one for a while. Anyway. Merry Christmas. Hey, guys. Hey, happy holidays. It's a movie podcast. Yeah, merry movie podcast. This movie podcast is arriving to you around Christmas. It should be. It's a treat. We weren't even going to do one because we're all busy right now, but Brad's like, guys, we got to give the people what they want.

[00:01:43] Well, last week someone was like, I'm too busy to do two podcasts. Hey, what were we busy doing last week? I don't even know. Prancerpalooza. Oh, that's what it was. Yeah, we hosted a live event here in LaPorte, Indiana at the Civic Auditorium in front of about a thousand people. I think more. Maybe more than a thousand people, maybe 1,200, 1,300 people.

[00:02:05] Yeah, yeah. Where director John Hancock, the director of Prancer, came back to LaPorte and we showed the film and there were actors and actresses from the movie were there. Rebecca Harrell Tickle who played Jessica in the movie Prancer. Aunt Sarah was there. Sam Elliott could not make it, unfortunately. He had other commitments that he had to do. Yeah, he was supposed to. And then Mark Ralston was going to be there and he might remember him from Shawshank Redemption and Aliens, but he had a car accident right before the show and couldn't make it either.

[00:02:35] But we made the best of it, honestly. It was a great time. It was so much fun. We had so much fun. We were going to try to record it and release it as an episode, but unfortunately we could not get the Civics audio equipment to cooperate with what we needed to record.

[00:02:48] You know what? That's a big shout out to Charlie Young, podcast lover and friend of the show. And just lover in general. Just lover in general. And he did all the audio for us at the show and it was fantastic.

[00:02:59] And he put together a spectacular video that was unfortunately interrupted by a soundtrack for the band. But it was still great because what we did is we combined a bunch of retro holiday commercials from the 80s around the time Prancer would have come out.

[00:03:14] And including the clip from Siskel and Ebert from back in 1989 where they very favorably reviewed the movie.

[00:03:21] Oh, they liked Prancer.

[00:03:22] Yeah, they both really liked Prancer. And then the other thing that we did was before the movie we wanted to play a few trailers that would put people back in 1989.

[00:03:31] So we attached trailers to it that would have played in theaters around the time.

[00:03:36] So we had the teaser trailer for the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

[00:03:40] We had the trailer for Back to the Future Part 2.

[00:03:43] And we also had the trailer for Christmas Vacation which came out roughly a month after Prancer hit theaters.

[00:03:48] Very different type of Christmas movie.

[00:03:49] Great experience overall though.

[00:03:51] Got to talk with the editor and the director and three actresses from the film.

[00:03:55] Yes.

[00:03:56] It was four actresses from the film.

[00:03:58] All right.

[00:03:59] Jessica, Aunt Sarah.

[00:04:00] Just three.

[00:04:01] Oh, just three.

[00:04:01] Yeah.

[00:04:01] And the lady that played the choir director maybe?

[00:04:04] She had a small role.

[00:04:05] Nate talked to her I think.

[00:04:06] A little bit, yeah.

[00:04:07] So yeah, anyway, good times.

[00:04:08] Next year let's try to do it with a different movie, Brad.

[00:04:10] Yeah, we'll do it with Dasher.

[00:04:13] A different movie.

[00:04:14] Oh.

[00:04:15] Let's get the kids from A Christmas Story.

[00:04:16] Let's do it with A Vixen.

[00:04:18] Okay, you're missing the point here.

[00:04:19] What is wrong with you?

[00:04:21] I don't know.

[00:04:21] I'm blitzing.

[00:04:22] Oh, good lord.

[00:04:25] Anyway, I wrote a game but I only got three questions in and I couldn't do it anymore.

[00:04:30] So I'm still going to play it.

[00:04:31] Cool story, Ben.

[00:04:32] No, we're still going to play it.

[00:04:34] All right, play the game.

[00:04:34] Let's do it.

[00:04:35] We're going to play the game.

[00:04:36] Okay, go.

[00:04:36] I'm going to bring it up right now.

[00:04:38] I'm a little disappointed I didn't have time this week to do a Christmas game.

[00:04:41] I started.

[00:04:42] Hey, Nate, you know what?

[00:04:43] Me too.

[00:04:44] I started this one and there's only, actually there's one, there's only two questions.

[00:04:49] Okay, what's the game called?

[00:04:51] All right.

[00:04:51] Oh yeah, it didn't come up with the name of the game.

[00:04:53] No, no, no, no.

[00:04:54] We're on a roll here, listeners.

[00:04:56] This is, I Got You a Word for Christmas.

[00:05:01] Okay.

[00:05:01] That's what the game's called.

[00:05:02] Wow.

[00:05:03] I Got You a Word for Christmas.

[00:05:04] I'm going to give you a movie.

[00:05:07] Two questions.

[00:05:07] There's only two questions.

[00:05:09] So actually, Brad's going to get one and Nate's going to get one.

[00:05:12] Good.

[00:05:12] All right.

[00:05:13] So I'm going to give you, I'm going to read the Christmas title of a Christmas movie here.

[00:05:17] Okay.

[00:05:17] And then based on that title, right?

[00:05:19] I'm going to tell you which word in that title is in another Christmas movie.

[00:05:26] Okay.

[00:05:26] And then I'm going to give you very obscure things about that movie to see if you can guess

[00:05:31] which movie it is.

[00:05:31] Okay.

[00:05:32] Okay.

[00:05:32] I genuinely don't know what we're doing, but go ahead.

[00:05:34] I'm going to figure this out.

[00:05:36] That's why.

[00:05:37] But on like the third or the fourth question, I'll figure this out.

[00:05:40] That's why you're going to go first, Nate.

[00:05:42] All right.

[00:05:43] So I start off with a Christmas story.

[00:05:46] Okay.

[00:05:46] Yeah.

[00:05:46] I know that one.

[00:05:47] All right.

[00:05:47] So the third word of that title, right?

[00:05:53] Is story.

[00:05:57] Point me.

[00:05:58] Point me.

[00:05:59] Brad.

[00:06:03] I just found out this won't work.

[00:06:08] It won't work?

[00:06:08] My game won't work.

[00:06:10] Okay.

[00:06:13] Wow.

[00:06:15] This is so stupid.

[00:06:17] What did you do?

[00:06:18] I fucked up so bad.

[00:06:19] The third word.

[00:06:21] Oh my goodness.

[00:06:21] Okay.

[00:06:22] I'm going to start with a Christmas story.

[00:06:23] All right.

[00:06:24] What is the third word of a Christmas story?

[00:06:29] Brad.

[00:06:30] Story.

[00:06:30] Brad, we're going to go to one point.

[00:06:32] No, we're going to do yours.

[00:06:34] The movie is a Christmas story.

[00:06:36] Yours is the only one that won't work.

[00:06:37] What is the third word?

[00:06:40] Hold on.

[00:06:42] This is the best game.

[00:06:44] It's a game.

[00:06:45] I'm so good at this game.

[00:06:46] It's a game for idiots.

[00:06:48] Shit.

[00:06:49] Finally found a game I can play.

[00:06:51] Shit.

[00:06:52] All right.

[00:06:52] All right.

[00:06:53] So I'm going to give you.

[00:06:54] Of this title.

[00:06:55] I'm going to give you.

[00:06:56] This is the only one that will work now.

[00:06:57] Okay.

[00:06:58] So that was somehow that was going to go to Die Hard.

[00:07:01] And I have no idea.

[00:07:03] So anyway, Die Hard, Brad.

[00:07:05] What is the first word?

[00:07:08] The second word.

[00:07:09] Oh, yeah.

[00:07:09] Right.

[00:07:10] This is a Netflix movie from 2021.

[00:07:13] Okay.

[00:07:13] Okay.

[00:07:14] And the pitch of this is after meeting her perfect match on a dating app, an LA writer learns

[00:07:19] she's been catfished when she flies 3,000 miles to surprise him for Christmas.

[00:07:24] It's called Love Hard.

[00:07:25] It is.

[00:07:26] So that was what I was supposed to be doing, right?

[00:07:28] I don't know why I wrote a Christmas story and then was like, die hard for that because

[00:07:32] they definitely share words.

[00:07:34] I wrote the whole fucking thing.

[00:07:35] Third word.

[00:07:36] Oh, that's why.

[00:07:38] Okay.

[00:07:38] I should have kept reading.

[00:07:39] Yeah.

[00:07:39] Yeah.

[00:07:39] What did you do?

[00:07:40] Okay.

[00:07:40] So there's a version of this game that will work.

[00:07:42] I just got to figure it out.

[00:07:43] The third word.

[00:07:44] This film has many of them.

[00:07:47] Many stories.

[00:07:48] Like in a building.

[00:07:49] Oh.

[00:07:50] So that's where I was going to go with it originally.

[00:07:52] And then I transitioned it to just the word from sharing words on the title.

[00:07:56] I got you.

[00:07:56] So yeah.

[00:07:57] I was brainstorming this about like a half an hour before you guys got here.

[00:07:59] I was like, yeah, this won't work.

[00:08:00] But I still want to bring it up on the show.

[00:08:01] Okay.

[00:08:01] So anyway, fuck it.

[00:08:02] That was fun.

[00:08:02] Well, thanks so much for listening to this, guys.

[00:08:04] Yeah.

[00:08:04] I know you guys come here for the quality, well thought out games.

[00:08:07] Hey, Nate.

[00:08:08] I got a third one for you.

[00:08:09] So love hard, right?

[00:08:11] That's the one that he just got.

[00:08:12] Now, Nate, first word.

[00:08:15] That's your only clue.

[00:08:19] Love hard.

[00:08:20] I just said love hard.

[00:08:22] That's the word.

[00:08:23] What's the next time?

[00:08:24] What's the next time?

[00:08:25] Last time you said a Christmas story, what's the third word?

[00:08:28] And I said story.

[00:08:29] And I got the point.

[00:08:30] Brad, love hard.

[00:08:33] Yeah.

[00:08:33] And that's your only clue.

[00:08:34] Love actually.

[00:08:35] And that's right.

[00:08:36] See?

[00:08:36] Love hard.

[00:08:39] Hey, buddy.

[00:08:40] Yeah.

[00:08:41] Who's our Christmas sponsor?

[00:08:43] Ben, let me ask you a minute.

[00:08:45] I'm all in this time, buddy.

[00:08:46] Your Christmas gift is no guff.

[00:08:49] Do you have a favorite holiday drink?

[00:08:51] I do.

[00:08:52] What is it?

[00:08:53] Better not be eggnog.

[00:08:54] It's not eggnog.

[00:08:55] I don't like eggnog.

[00:08:55] Who likes eggnog?

[00:08:56] That's disgusting.

[00:08:56] I like eggnog.

[00:08:57] No.

[00:08:57] Do you really not like eggnog?

[00:08:58] Eggnog.

[00:08:59] I can have like half of a cup.

[00:09:01] Well, yeah.

[00:09:01] It's just, it's not something.

[00:09:02] No, no.

[00:09:02] Of course.

[00:09:03] Why would you like something with nog in it?

[00:09:08] Nog.

[00:09:09] Go on.

[00:09:10] No, please continue.

[00:09:11] Yeah.

[00:09:12] Nog.

[00:09:12] Okay.

[00:09:13] He's just going to repeat nog.

[00:09:14] It's a good setup for your stand-up bit, Seinfeld.

[00:09:16] No, it just.

[00:09:17] What's the deal with nog?

[00:09:18] What?

[00:09:19] Who would you drink something called nog?

[00:09:22] You know what I'm going to say?

[00:09:24] Nog going to do it.

[00:09:25] It just sounds so disgusting.

[00:09:27] It just sounds eggnog.

[00:09:29] Like if you made it like something like sweet, right?

[00:09:32] Like egg treat.

[00:09:33] It has a little bit of sweetness to it.

[00:09:34] Like egg treat.

[00:09:35] I know, but like yeah.

[00:09:35] Egg treat.

[00:09:36] Egg treat.

[00:09:36] Egg treat.

[00:09:37] Honey, would you like some egg treat?

[00:09:38] Would you like another glass of egg treat?

[00:09:40] Okay.

[00:09:41] That's what they have in Britain.

[00:09:42] They have egg treat.

[00:09:43] Exactly.

[00:09:43] It's like, oh, maybe.

[00:09:45] Maybe.

[00:09:45] I like treats.

[00:09:46] You know what I don't like?

[00:09:47] It's nog.

[00:09:47] Do the thing that we say every night, children.

[00:09:50] Have the egg treat and then don't brush your teeth.

[00:09:54] I like eggnog.

[00:09:55] I like one of the things that my parents had that they introduced me to is putting a little

[00:10:00] bit of cinnamon schnapps in eggnog.

[00:10:02] It gives a little cinnamon kick.

[00:10:03] How old were you?

[00:10:04] I was 10.

[00:10:05] Seven years old.

[00:10:06] Seven years old.

[00:10:07] No.

[00:10:07] That was the year that got fired from work.

[00:10:09] There was actually.

[00:10:10] Hey, son.

[00:10:10] Hey, son.

[00:10:11] Try this.

[00:10:12] Here's a secret, Brad boy.

[00:10:14] Put some hair on your chest.

[00:10:15] Here's a secret.

[00:10:16] It's funny.

[00:10:16] There was a time when my parents did have holiday parties at our house.

[00:10:20] There was a time they had fights about him losing his job.

[00:10:23] And I would like eggnog when I was a kid.

[00:10:28] And so I had my own eggnog.

[00:10:29] But other adults had eggnog that had alcohol in it.

[00:10:31] Because you can put other alcohol in eggnog besides cinnamon schnapps.

[00:10:33] Some people like to put whiskey in it.

[00:10:35] Go on.

[00:10:35] It's very good.

[00:10:37] But I remember accidentally grabbing one and tasting it.

[00:10:40] I mean, like, oh, that's not my eggnog.

[00:10:43] And then I was like.

[00:10:44] And I had a little bit of a buzz afterwards.

[00:10:47] Like, I wasn't entirely sure what the deal was.

[00:10:50] But yeah, that was a fun memory.

[00:10:53] But no, I like eggnog.

[00:10:55] I'm surprised.

[00:10:56] Anyway, you don't have a favorite holiday drink?

[00:10:59] I said yes.

[00:11:00] And then you guys cut me off because you got a nine-hour conversation about eggnog.

[00:11:03] I do.

[00:11:03] I have a favorite holiday drink.

[00:11:05] Go on.

[00:11:06] I like hot chocolate.

[00:11:07] Oh.

[00:11:10] How about you, Ben?

[00:11:13] I also like peppermint.

[00:11:15] I like cinnamon schnapps.

[00:11:17] Do you?

[00:11:18] No.

[00:11:18] No, I like rumplemints.

[00:11:20] Rumplemints is pretty good.

[00:11:21] I wouldn't consider it a holiday drink.

[00:11:22] But it's minty.

[00:11:23] So that's fair.

[00:11:24] It's a Christmas in a glass, baby.

[00:11:25] So that's wonderful.

[00:11:27] I'm proud of you.

[00:11:29] Speaking of holiday drinks, I got something that I want you guys to try.

[00:11:32] I am immediately regretting his Christmas present where I said I'm not going to give you any guff.

[00:11:36] You know?

[00:11:37] Can I just like, just during this segment is the only time.

[00:11:40] A little bit of guffal?

[00:11:41] Like I'll give you no guff now but like a lot of guff in a little bit.

[00:11:44] No, no.

[00:11:44] There's no guff allowed.

[00:11:46] I don't like this.

[00:11:47] All right.

[00:11:47] So go ahead and grab.

[00:11:47] Don't look at the front of the bag.

[00:11:49] Don't look at the back of the bag.

[00:11:51] Just look at the side.

[00:11:52] Give me the thing.

[00:11:53] Oh, wait.

[00:11:53] I need mine.

[00:11:53] Hold on.

[00:11:54] Oh, my God.

[00:11:54] Whoopsie doodle.

[00:11:57] Nate, don't look.

[00:11:58] Close your eyes.

[00:11:59] Don't even look at the bag.

[00:12:01] Just take some of the pieces and put them in your mouth.

[00:12:05] I just got one piece.

[00:12:09] I'm not in my microphone.

[00:12:12] You nogged me.

[00:12:14] You nogged me, didn't you?

[00:12:16] Is that peppermint?

[00:12:17] Egg nog?

[00:12:18] Is that what it's supposed to be?

[00:12:19] What's wrong with your tongue?

[00:12:21] Is that peppermint?

[00:12:22] It's just nog, right?

[00:12:24] Yeah, baby.

[00:12:24] It's just egg nog.

[00:12:25] Oh.

[00:12:26] It's just egg nog flavored jelly beans, baby.

[00:12:27] You nogged me.

[00:12:28] Okay.

[00:12:29] Well, I got nogged.

[00:12:31] Do you like them?

[00:12:33] No.

[00:12:34] Do you?

[00:12:35] I like them.

[00:12:36] I like egg nog, and this captures the flavor of egg nog pretty well.

[00:12:39] No, why would you want that?

[00:12:40] I don't want to get nogged up.

[00:12:41] You don't want to get nogged up?

[00:12:42] No, I don't get nogged up.

[00:12:43] You want me to throg your nog?

[00:12:44] Don't throg my nog.

[00:12:47] What the fuck that means?

[00:12:49] But you know what?

[00:12:50] Guys, glad I said no.

[00:12:51] Not while I'm in the room.

[00:12:51] Glad I said no.

[00:12:52] It's smart.

[00:12:52] It's smart.

[00:12:53] Always say no throg to the nog.

[00:12:55] Man, that's a bummer.

[00:12:56] I thought you guys would be like my nog bros.

[00:12:58] Nah.

[00:13:01] Nog, bro.

[00:13:02] Nog.

[00:13:05] Yeah.

[00:13:05] Well, that's egg nog and a jelly bean.

[00:13:07] Don't you like custard?

[00:13:09] Yeah, it doesn't taste like custard.

[00:13:11] Egg nog does have a custard taste.

[00:13:12] It does, but that doesn't.

[00:13:13] No, this doesn't taste.

[00:13:15] No.

[00:13:15] Oh, there you go.

[00:13:15] This tastes like egg nog.

[00:13:18] Treat custard.

[00:13:19] I would probably drink treat custard.

[00:13:21] We've been talking about how we're not sure why we're pretty stagnant with listeners.

[00:13:27] Like kind of inside baseball here, off the air.

[00:13:30] We're like, man.

[00:13:30] We're stuck at this amount of listeners.

[00:13:32] We've been stuck here for a while, and honestly, it's not getting any better.

[00:13:35] I think I found out a lot.

[00:13:36] Our other podcast is growing.

[00:13:37] This one is not.

[00:13:39] And it's like.

[00:13:39] You don't think it's your dumb intros?

[00:13:41] No, I think it's the listener.

[00:13:43] You don't think it's being immediately turned off by some dumb chuggle fuck who just doesn't

[00:13:47] know what he's talking about?

[00:13:47] My theory is it's the dead air.

[00:13:50] I'm blaming the listener.

[00:13:51] There wouldn't be dead air if Ben wrote games.

[00:13:53] I did.

[00:13:54] That was a great game.

[00:13:55] Could have been.

[00:13:56] It was the bones.

[00:13:58] Good bones.

[00:13:59] Like an old house.

[00:13:59] Them bones.

[00:14:00] Them bones.

[00:14:01] Good game.

[00:14:02] Dry bones.

[00:14:03] Game could have had stories.

[00:14:05] Them bones.

[00:14:06] Them bones.

[00:14:07] Them dry bones.

[00:14:08] What's the last movie you saw, Chuckle Fuck?

[00:14:09] I saw them bones.

[00:14:11] By the way, I'm not.

[00:14:12] I was joking.

[00:14:13] I would never blame the listener for anything.

[00:14:15] By the way, I've only seen one movie since.

[00:14:17] Oh, let's start with you then.

[00:14:18] All right.

[00:14:18] Because I've actually seen quite a few.

[00:14:20] Did you?

[00:14:20] Well, you guys are all like not working right now.

[00:14:23] I am still working.

[00:14:25] Yeah, the gunner company shut down for the whole week.

[00:14:26] Well, that's kind of the beautiful thing.

[00:14:27] Even when I'm watching movies, I'm still working, baby.

[00:14:30] Yeah, because you have a fake job.

[00:14:32] All right.

[00:14:32] Your job doesn't exist.

[00:14:33] I'm just working for the weekend, baby.

[00:14:35] I watched a movie that we actually reviewed the trailer on this very podcast.

[00:14:40] What was it, Nate?

[00:14:41] A movie called Carry On.

[00:14:44] Did you watch it?

[00:14:44] Nate, do you know what?

[00:14:45] I also watched Carry On.

[00:14:47] Hey, good.

[00:14:47] Because I want you to talk about it.

[00:14:48] Did you watch it, Benny?

[00:14:49] I did.

[00:14:51] All three of us, we did it!

[00:14:53] Merry Christmas!

[00:14:55] Yeah, it's a try and back there because I kept on thinking, you know who's going to love

[00:14:58] this movie?

[00:14:58] Ben.

[00:14:59] Yeah.

[00:14:59] Did you think that too?

[00:15:00] Oh, yeah.

[00:15:01] Ben's going to love this movie.

[00:15:02] I knew he was going to love this movie.

[00:15:03] It was great.

[00:15:04] I loved it.

[00:15:04] Yeah.

[00:15:05] I honestly loved this film.

[00:15:07] This is right up my airplane alley.

[00:15:09] Such a great...

[00:15:10] Jason Bateman is so...

[00:15:11] Just the right amount of silly.

[00:15:13] Of silly.

[00:15:14] You know?

[00:15:14] It's that kind of action movie that you just love, like fun, wild turns.

[00:15:18] Oh, for sure.

[00:15:19] And things that don't quite make sense.

[00:15:20] And it's just...

[00:15:20] But not...

[00:15:20] Yeah.

[00:15:21] Not over the top there.

[00:15:22] Not so unbelievable.

[00:15:23] They're not egregiously breaking their own rules of the universe, but they are definitely

[00:15:27] flirting with the sides of them.

[00:15:28] Right.

[00:15:28] Where you're like, whoa, what'd that really happen?

[00:15:30] Like that...

[00:15:31] Like the...

[00:15:31] When the detective is driving, being driven to the airport by the guy who is actually

[00:15:37] not the agent, and like that whole one-er action sequence where they're driving on the highway

[00:15:42] at full speed.

[00:15:43] Real wild.

[00:15:43] I mean, they did that because like, we need to have this.

[00:15:45] Yeah.

[00:15:46] Because like...

[00:15:46] How do they do that camera?

[00:15:48] They were storyboarding it.

[00:15:49] They're like, too much is at the airport.

[00:15:50] Do you guys understand how you did the camera?

[00:15:52] I don't know how they did the camera.

[00:15:54] Well, I'm sure that they had...

[00:15:55] So I'm sure the car...

[00:15:56] Most of the car probably isn't there other than like the seats and maybe not even the

[00:16:00] dash, but they probably have the camera hooked up to a computerized system

[00:16:03] that is doing the motion all around them.

[00:16:05] Because it was really cool.

[00:16:06] Yeah.

[00:16:07] I mean, the way they did that, I will admit, like you said, it's certainly maybe not like

[00:16:13] essential to the plot.

[00:16:16] But the way they did that, I was watching it with Evelina and like, that was just really

[00:16:20] cool the way they did that.

[00:16:21] No, it was awesome.

[00:16:21] The way they turned around the car.

[00:16:23] They've done a few things.

[00:16:24] I mean, this isn't at the level of like a John Wick or Extraction or Extraction 2.

[00:16:29] Yeah.

[00:16:29] Where they kind of just have this one take where it's all shot to look like one take.

[00:16:33] The Extraction, those were one takes and so was John Wick, right?

[00:16:36] Like that was like what they were becoming famous for.

[00:16:39] Yes.

[00:16:39] Like these seven minute action scenes were all choreographed.

[00:16:42] This clearly was just made to look like that where obviously they edited the shit out of

[00:16:46] it.

[00:16:46] Yeah.

[00:16:46] But it's kind of that blending of, you know, inside the car, outside the car stuff.

[00:16:50] I love it though.

[00:16:50] I think it's a very modern, unique way to do it.

[00:16:52] Yeah.

[00:16:52] And it's a lot of fun.

[00:16:53] I thought it was done very well.

[00:16:54] But yeah.

[00:16:54] The director, John...

[00:16:57] Yaume Coletcero.

[00:16:59] Yeah.

[00:16:59] John Coletcero.

[00:17:02] I really like what he did in his film.

[00:17:06] Mechalikikaka.

[00:17:06] Oh yeah.

[00:17:07] That's what I was doing.

[00:17:08] Oh jeez.

[00:17:08] It's Mechalikikimaka is the place to be.

[00:17:11] Not even close.

[00:17:12] And Merry Christmas for you.

[00:17:15] Okay.

[00:17:16] Is that, that's from Christmas Occasion?

[00:17:18] Sure.

[00:17:19] Yeah.

[00:17:19] Sure.

[00:17:19] Sure is.

[00:17:20] I did it.

[00:17:24] We keep on talking about why we have no listeners.

[00:17:27] All right.

[00:17:28] So...

[00:17:28] Now guys, this, you can't blame the listenership on stuff like that.

[00:17:33] That's comedy gold.

[00:17:36] See?

[00:17:37] That's what people tune in for.

[00:17:40] You're telling me right now that people heard that and then went, turned it off?

[00:17:44] I highly doubt it.

[00:17:46] I don't think anyone's going, because no one owns an old fucking race.

[00:17:50] You know what I mean.

[00:17:53] You know what?

[00:17:53] I'm turning this podcast off.

[00:17:55] Hey, you know what?

[00:17:56] Roll your window down.

[00:17:57] And I know you can't see what I'm doing, listener, but I think you know what I'm doing right

[00:17:59] now.

[00:17:59] He's stroking his penis.

[00:18:02] Damn it.

[00:18:04] It's how I roll my window down.

[00:18:05] Ew.

[00:18:06] What?

[00:18:07] It's a push button.

[00:18:08] Yeah, it is.

[00:18:10] I don't know where...

[00:18:11] I'm sorry, Nate.

[00:18:12] So...

[00:18:12] What'd you think of Air Traffic Controller?

[00:18:13] What was the movie?

[00:18:14] Carry On.

[00:18:15] Carry On.

[00:18:15] What'd you think of Carry On?

[00:18:16] So I want to talk a little bit about this director, because he's had a couple flops,

[00:18:22] right?

[00:18:22] But he's made some of the better Liam Neeson action movies.

[00:18:25] I know.

[00:18:25] This is the crazy thing.

[00:18:26] Cold Pursuit?

[00:18:27] And I wonder, because he did Black Adam, which was not good.

[00:18:30] Yeah.

[00:18:31] But I wonder if that...

[00:18:32] I don't blame him for that, though.

[00:18:32] No, that's what I'm going to say.

[00:18:33] That was a director for hire situation.

[00:18:35] Was that Dwayne, Dwayne, Dwayne, Dwayne, Johnson, like saying this is the way this film's

[00:18:38] going to be?

[00:18:38] Yeah, I'm sure that's the most part of it.

[00:18:40] Because I felt like Dwayne had a vision for that film, and it was going to get made the

[00:18:44] way he wanted to do, because he was financing it, right?

[00:18:46] He wasn't much.

[00:18:47] 100% setting up so that Black Adam and Superman would fight each other.

[00:18:54] And that's not what was going to happen.

[00:18:56] He also did Jungle Cruise, which was fine.

[00:18:58] It wasn't great.

[00:18:59] But he is doing the upcoming remake of Cliffhanger.

[00:19:03] Ooh.

[00:19:04] And then what are the Liam Neeson movies that he directed, Nate?

[00:19:08] He did Unknown.

[00:19:10] Did you see that one?

[00:19:10] Yeah, Unknown's fun.

[00:19:13] He did Non-Stop.

[00:19:14] Yep, that's also fun.

[00:19:15] That's fun.

[00:19:16] Run All Night.

[00:19:17] I've seen that.

[00:19:18] Yeah, that was okay.

[00:19:19] The Commuter.

[00:19:20] I don't think that one's very good.

[00:19:22] No, that was not very good.

[00:19:23] And those are the ones he's done.

[00:19:25] I thought he did Cold Pursuit, because that's a fun one.

[00:19:27] No.

[00:19:28] And then he did one called The Shallows, which was with-

[00:19:33] Oh, that's great.

[00:19:34] Yeah, Shallows is great.

[00:19:35] It's a great movie.

[00:19:36] And so he's got another one coming out called The Woman in the Yard with Danielle Deadweiler,

[00:19:42] who's in this film.

[00:19:45] And the premise is, a woman in black appears on a family's front lawn and delivers a chilling

[00:19:50] warning.

[00:19:51] No one knows where she came from, what she wants, or when she will leave.

[00:19:54] It's a psychological horror film.

[00:19:56] So it should be fun.

[00:19:57] But I really enjoyed this film.

[00:19:59] I love what he did with it.

[00:20:00] I thought the-

[00:20:02] It's a blast.

[00:20:03] Jason Bateman was fantastic.

[00:20:06] Taron Egerton's great.

[00:20:07] Taron Egerton's great.

[00:20:09] This is on Netflix.

[00:20:12] Don't skip this just because it didn't get a full film release.

[00:20:15] It got pretty big.

[00:20:15] People have been watching it like crazy.

[00:20:18] As they should, because it's a very good film.

[00:20:20] I would have loved to actually have seen this in the theater.

[00:20:22] That's a Christmas movie.

[00:20:23] It is.

[00:20:24] I loved when we started watching, I'm like, is this a Christmas movie?

[00:20:27] Christmas film?

[00:20:28] Yeah.

[00:20:28] But that's the only film I got to watch this week.

[00:20:32] Ben, let's go over your films before we get to Brad.

[00:20:35] Yeah.

[00:20:36] Can't wait to hear what kind of art house stuff you got into this week.

[00:20:38] It's my favorite part of the film.

[00:20:39] I can't wait to hear the movies you watched that I don't understand because my brain is shut

[00:20:43] down like an old computer.

[00:20:47] Like an old computer.

[00:20:50] Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:20:51] I'm still using Netscape Navigator in my brain so I can't read subtitles.

[00:20:56] I don't know what this make fun of you characters, but this is what he does every single time.

[00:21:00] I shit myself.

[00:21:04] Oh, Brad making fun of a guy for having a normal opinion on things.

[00:21:09] It can't be 386 computer.

[00:21:11] Whenever I hear something's artistic, I get scared in my winky shrinkies.

[00:21:16] My winky shrinkies?

[00:21:17] Yeah.

[00:21:19] You know this winky has shrunk as far as it's going to shrinkie.

[00:21:24] I thinkie.

[00:21:26] It's about as big as a pinky.

[00:21:27] Yeah.

[00:21:29] Don't ruin pinkies for me.

[00:21:31] But it's like 12 inches.

[00:21:32] And sometimes when I put it there, it's a little stinky.

[00:21:34] Girth of a pinky.

[00:21:37] Anyway.

[00:21:38] No, no.

[00:21:39] I watched.

[00:21:39] I watched.

[00:21:40] You know what?

[00:21:40] I saw the Polar Express for the first time ever.

[00:21:42] You've never seen the Polar Express?

[00:21:44] Never seen the Polar Express.

[00:21:45] Well, now you're going to have nightmares.

[00:21:46] Yes, I will.

[00:21:46] I actually love the Polar Express, but the animation has not aged well.

[00:21:50] This movie is a horror film.

[00:21:52] The animation didn't start well.

[00:21:54] No, this is a horror film.

[00:21:55] It's like the first of like the, like one of the first computer generated films, right?

[00:22:01] No.

[00:22:01] No.

[00:22:02] That's the problem.

[00:22:02] The thing is, is like it was not.

[00:22:04] And also.

[00:22:05] It's not.

[00:22:06] It wasn't even close.

[00:22:07] And this was one of the first.

[00:22:09] Mocap.

[00:22:09] Computer animated motion capture films.

[00:22:11] Oh, that's what I'm thinking of.

[00:22:12] Yes.

[00:22:12] But it's that makes it worse because the.

[00:22:15] The uncanny valley of the eyes.

[00:22:17] It is terrifying.

[00:22:18] It's haunting.

[00:22:19] Yeah.

[00:22:20] And there's no way that they wrote this movie and they were like, you know what?

[00:22:23] We're going to do a scene where we put a child alone in a dark train car full of disgusting,

[00:22:33] haunted marionettes.

[00:22:34] Oh.

[00:22:35] Like with a Pinocchio with a split open nose.

[00:22:38] Yeah.

[00:22:38] Isn't that great?

[00:22:38] It's so jarringly horrific.

[00:22:41] Like Ender and Rune, they've seen this movie a couple times and they're like, we don't

[00:22:44] like this scene.

[00:22:45] Yeah, I get it.

[00:22:46] We don't like this scene.

[00:22:48] They said it before.

[00:22:49] They're like, they go to the train car and they open it up and they go, we don't like this

[00:22:52] scene.

[00:22:52] And I'm like, what's wrong?

[00:22:53] Oh, I don't like this scene immediately either.

[00:22:56] That's.

[00:22:57] Ben's like, Jesus Christ.

[00:22:58] I'm not joking.

[00:22:59] You look down, you look up, you're like, what?

[00:23:00] Oh.

[00:23:02] Why?

[00:23:03] Why?

[00:23:03] By the way, is this film universally not liked?

[00:23:06] I don't know.

[00:23:07] Because I like this film.

[00:23:08] I think there's people who like it, who have nostalgia for it and who just.

[00:23:11] Yeah, that's fine.

[00:23:11] I think there's a lot of kids that saw it when they were younger.

[00:23:14] But a lot of people, I think, acknowledge that it is A, just not a good movie and B, an

[00:23:20] awful adaptation of the book, which is just wonderful.

[00:23:23] Like, it's a classic.

[00:23:24] Who voices Santa Claus?

[00:23:26] Is that you?

[00:23:26] Tom Hanks.

[00:23:27] Tom Hanks does everything.

[00:23:29] Tom Hanks plays all the adult characters, basically.

[00:23:31] I mean, I knew that part of it.

[00:23:33] I just didn't think Santa Claus.

[00:23:34] He even played the boy.

[00:23:35] He didn't do the voice, but he did the motion capture.

[00:23:38] Yeah.

[00:23:38] What?

[00:23:39] Yeah.

[00:23:39] That's not real, is it?

[00:23:40] Dead serious.

[00:23:41] You're not doing a bit?

[00:23:41] Not doing a bit.

[00:23:42] He did the mocap for the little boy.

[00:23:44] Yeah.

[00:23:45] Why?

[00:23:46] Because Tom Hanks is everybody.

[00:23:48] Wow.

[00:23:48] That's strange, honestly.

[00:23:50] Okay.

[00:23:51] Anyway.

[00:23:51] No.

[00:23:52] So overall, it's a weird movie.

[00:23:56] It's just all over the place as far as what they're trying to make funny versus

[00:24:03] serious versus musical.

[00:24:04] Comedy is so weird.

[00:24:05] You know?

[00:24:06] It just is very strange.

[00:24:08] It's so weird to have such a, like they try for it to be photorealistic, but shoot it

[00:24:14] in such a fantastical way with camera shots that you would never be able to get in the

[00:24:18] real world where people look real like that.

[00:24:20] But also, it makes the fantastical elements of the movie feel even more fake than they

[00:24:25] would if they tried to do special effects with real people.

[00:24:28] It's just a big misfire on production there, but I mean, they went for whatever.

[00:24:32] I don't know.

[00:24:32] Zemeckis is trying a bunch of weird shit as always.

[00:24:35] Yeah.

[00:24:35] He would go on to do a Beowulf adaptation with this mocap and equally bad computer generated

[00:24:40] imagery.

[00:24:41] By the way, this was the last film appearance for Michael Jeter before his death.

[00:24:46] Who's Michael Jeter?

[00:24:47] Wow.

[00:24:47] Thanks, Nate.

[00:24:48] An actor, he...

[00:24:49] I want to talk to this guy.

[00:24:51] This is like the third person.

[00:24:53] In Off Air, he's talked about two actors that have died recently.

[00:24:55] He was in a film called Air Bud.

[00:24:56] He's like, well, I guess it's Merry Christmas, but I don't know if you heard that Margot

[00:24:59] Winget died.

[00:25:01] And we're like, who's Margot Winget?

[00:25:02] Oh, well, she was the stand-in for Margot Kidder in this first Superman.

[00:25:05] Did you not know that?

[00:25:06] She was 89.

[00:25:07] She passed.

[00:25:09] So, anyway, I guess no moment of silence to go record.

[00:25:12] And I'm like, what are we doing right now?

[00:25:14] What else was Michael Jeter in?

[00:25:15] I'm not sure who he is.

[00:25:16] Green Mile.

[00:25:18] Oh, is that Mr. Noodle from Sesame Street?

[00:25:21] He is Mr. Noodle.

[00:25:22] Oh, yeah.

[00:25:23] Yep.

[00:25:23] Thanks, Nate.

[00:25:26] I thought you guys would know who Michael Jeter is.

[00:25:28] No, I really don't.

[00:25:28] No, I remember his name.

[00:25:29] Oh, wow.

[00:25:30] He won awards for acting and stuff.

[00:25:32] He is a legitimate actor.

[00:25:34] He was a good character actor, yeah.

[00:25:35] He was played by Tom Hanks in this film, though.

[00:25:38] That's true.

[00:25:39] Get one there.

[00:25:40] I also watched a Christmas story today with the boys.

[00:25:42] Yes.

[00:25:43] First time.

[00:25:44] They had seen it, but bits and pieces, because they would actually said that they would put

[00:25:48] it on at family gatherings and stuff, but they would just do stuff around it.

[00:25:52] This is the first time they've actively sat there, and it was fun.

[00:25:54] So, what did you think of the first time you saw it here?

[00:25:57] I've seen it plenty of times.

[00:26:00] Yeah, they really liked it.

[00:26:02] They really liked it.

[00:26:03] Do you always remember the first time you saw A Christmas Story?

[00:26:06] I was in college.

[00:26:07] Really?

[00:26:08] No.

[00:26:08] Because it was on TNT, on repeat.

[00:26:10] Oh, wow.

[00:26:10] I saw it early on.

[00:26:12] Yeah.

[00:26:12] I actually very specifically remember, because I remember thinking at the beginning, I thought

[00:26:18] this movie was going to be dumb, because they played it for us in school around Christmas

[00:26:22] time.

[00:26:23] And then, I remember-

[00:26:25] What school did you go to?

[00:26:26] I didn't get to see A Christmas Story at Christmas.

[00:26:27] Handly.

[00:26:29] And so, they played it for us.

[00:26:30] He's also 16 years younger than us.

[00:26:33] He's a young man.

[00:26:33] I remember watching this and thinking it was going to be dumb, because it looked old, and

[00:26:39] it felt like it was an old time movie, and then falling in love with it when it got

[00:26:42] funny.

[00:26:43] I do love this film.

[00:26:44] It's going to be so funny.

[00:26:45] How do you not like this film?

[00:26:46] It's great.

[00:26:47] The first thing I caught, because back then, anything that mentioned Indiana when I was

[00:26:53] a kid, I thought it was the coolest thing.

[00:26:55] Right?

[00:26:55] And so, this film was set in Indiana.

[00:26:58] It was set in the season that I love, Christmas.

[00:27:03] And so, I love this movie from the get-go.

[00:27:05] I don't think you get away with showing this movie in schools nowadays.

[00:27:09] No.

[00:27:09] Especially because I remember when seeing it for the first time and being surprised hearing

[00:27:14] Ralphie say the soft gleam of electric sex in the window, I was like, wait, what?

[00:27:18] We're allowed to watch this movie in school?

[00:27:21] Yeah.

[00:27:23] And the lesson was beat up your bullies.

[00:27:26] Yeah.

[00:27:27] And your mom will cover for you.

[00:27:28] Exactly.

[00:27:29] Because she did.

[00:27:30] Mm-hmm.

[00:27:31] No, I love this film.

[00:27:33] Speaking of when you heard Indiana in a film, I was at the LaPorte Theater.

[00:27:40] In high school, and the Sylvester Stallone movie, Daylight.

[00:27:44] Yep.

[00:27:46] Amy Burniman's character.

[00:27:47] They're just talking, and he goes, oh, where are you from?

[00:27:49] And she goes, ah, a little town called LaPorte, Indiana.

[00:27:52] And I was like, I thought, I was so convinced that there was a marketing ploy that after

[00:27:57] we got out, and that's all we could talk about.

[00:27:58] We didn't even think about the rest of the movie.

[00:27:59] And they just changed every kind of movie.

[00:28:01] We thought that they changed it to any theater.

[00:28:02] Oh, sure.

[00:28:03] Because why would they mention LaPorte, Indiana?

[00:28:04] They're like, oh, I bet you we need to go see it in Michigan City, and they're

[00:28:07] going to say, a little town, go, Michigan City, Indiana.

[00:28:09] But no, I remember that being the talk of the town.

[00:28:12] It was.

[00:28:12] I was like, have you seen Daylight?

[00:28:13] They say LaPorte in the movie.

[00:28:14] It's crazy.

[00:28:15] Yeah.

[00:28:16] Put that on your list.

[00:28:16] Have you ever seen Daylight?

[00:28:17] You ever seen Daylight?

[00:28:18] I don't think so.

[00:28:19] Oh, subscribe.

[00:28:20] Yeah.

[00:28:21] Boom.

[00:28:21] You're in.

[00:28:21] You got to see it.

[00:28:23] It's Sylvester Stallone 90s classic.

[00:28:24] Oh, yeah.

[00:28:25] Absolutely.

[00:28:26] Yeah.

[00:28:26] So good.

[00:28:27] How are we doing on the waves there, buddy?

[00:28:29] Good.

[00:28:29] Nate's our in-house technician.

[00:28:31] Go ahead and put that in the time code.

[00:28:32] No, no.

[00:28:32] I was going to talk about it a little bit.

[00:28:33] No, I don't want to do that.

[00:28:38] I was going to literally thank him for doing it all year long.

[00:28:42] It's like it's a Christmas thing.

[00:28:43] Don't make it sound like that.

[00:28:44] No, I was going to say something.

[00:28:45] I was going to say something.

[00:28:46] I don't want to do that.

[00:28:47] Hey, Ben.

[00:28:48] I do appreciate you.

[00:28:49] Thank you.

[00:28:50] Fuck me, man.

[00:28:51] It was really good.

[00:28:52] We're getting you to take a minute and be like, hey, man.

[00:28:53] Thank you.

[00:28:54] Thank you.

[00:28:55] You didn't say you were going to thank Nate in the last week.

[00:28:58] I'm not saying I don't want to thank Nate.

[00:28:59] I appreciate you, Ben.

[00:29:00] I appreciate you, Ben.

[00:29:01] Jesus.

[00:29:03] I don't want to do that.

[00:29:04] I don't want to do that.

[00:29:05] And it's so on point for you.

[00:29:07] And I was very insulted.

[00:29:09] No.

[00:29:11] Imagine that.

[00:29:12] Being the responsible.

[00:29:13] I want to thank Nate.

[00:29:14] No, I don't want to do that.

[00:29:15] And being serious.

[00:29:16] No.

[00:29:17] What?

[00:29:17] For pressing a couple of fucking buttons?

[00:29:20] Jesus.

[00:29:21] Yeah, we all got a computer.

[00:29:25] Wow.

[00:29:25] Harsh.

[00:29:26] What was the movie called again?

[00:29:28] Daylight.

[00:29:29] Daylight is the film that you're going to want to see.

[00:29:32] I also watched last night.

[00:29:33] I was doing some stuff, waiting to get tired.

[00:29:38] And I watched Major League.

[00:29:41] Okay.

[00:29:42] The classic 80s baseball movie.

[00:29:45] And you know what?

[00:29:46] It's one of those that I can just turn on anytime, at any moment, and just start watching.

[00:29:49] What about during a funeral?

[00:29:50] It's probably the best time to do it.

[00:29:53] What about at the hospital?

[00:29:54] Even better.

[00:29:55] What about right after a cancer diagnosis?

[00:29:58] That's probably the best time to do it.

[00:29:59] You want to keep going with these weird bits?

[00:30:01] What about right before Coitus?

[00:30:03] I don't know.

[00:30:04] You called it Coitus?

[00:30:10] Anyway.

[00:30:12] It's a very good movie.

[00:30:14] It still holds up.

[00:30:15] There's a lot of fun to be had with Major League.

[00:30:17] Bob Euchre is absolutely a delight.

[00:30:20] And he, I think he's still alive, but he might be in his 90s now.

[00:30:25] Great voice.

[00:30:25] But my God, he was an actual, he's a baseball player, but then he was an actual sportscaster

[00:30:29] for many years and a voiceover guy.

[00:30:32] And he plays-

[00:30:33] Bob Euchre was 90 when they made the films, it felt like.

[00:30:36] He wasn't.

[00:30:36] No.

[00:30:37] I thought you were looking at him.

[00:30:39] Bob Euchre was 90 when they made the films.

[00:30:42] I mean, I immediately thought about him in the film.

[00:30:45] I was like, well, he's got gray hair, but no, he wasn't 90.

[00:30:47] I always thought he looked like Paul Hogan.

[00:30:50] Oh yeah, a little bit.

[00:30:51] A little bit, yeah.

[00:30:52] The American Paul Hogan.

[00:30:52] Yeah, like Paul Hogan's dad or something.

[00:30:54] By the way.

[00:30:55] He's amazing.

[00:30:55] He is going to be 91 in January.

[00:30:58] Oh.

[00:30:58] Just amazing.

[00:31:01] Just a bit outside.

[00:31:02] Like just, oh, perfect.

[00:31:03] Anyway, love him so much in this film.

[00:31:06] And I guess that maybe sums up why I love this film so much.

[00:31:09] Yeah.

[00:31:09] There are so many characters in this film that are, like, you can play the play-by-play

[00:31:14] guy.

[00:31:15] You can be the color announcer and just read it as written.

[00:31:18] And then you can hire somebody like Bob Euchre to do it his way.

[00:31:21] And, like, you know, you've got a young Don Cousin Hasbert playing Pedro Serrano who believes

[00:31:29] in voodoo.

[00:31:30] You know, and you've got Corbin Bernson playing a yuppie.

[00:31:32] And Tom Berenger playing, obviously, a beaten down old catcher.

[00:31:36] I mean, everybody did so well.

[00:31:38] But, of course, this movie is most famous because Charlie Sheen plays the wild thing.

[00:31:41] And he's got a hundred-

[00:31:43] He means everything.

[00:31:43] A hundred mile an hour fastball, can't control it, blah, blah, blah.

[00:31:45] This movie is great.

[00:31:47] It still holds up.

[00:31:48] Go see it.

[00:31:49] Is it better than Rookie of the Year?

[00:31:50] It's way different humor.

[00:31:52] But I say no.

[00:31:53] I say yes.

[00:31:54] Absolutely.

[00:31:55] Rookie of the Year is a family-friendly film that is, like, oh, that's cute and fun.

[00:32:00] Oh, Major League.

[00:32:01] Major League is hilarious.

[00:32:02] Yeah, you're right.

[00:32:02] Rookie of the Year is probably top notch.

[00:32:05] You know what I like about it better?

[00:32:06] Little Giants.

[00:32:08] I love Little Giants.

[00:32:09] I don't know what the problem is.

[00:32:10] Major League is a better comedy than Rick Moranis.

[00:32:12] I don't know.

[00:32:13] Rick Moranis versus Ed O'Neill?

[00:32:15] Like, we're talking, come on.

[00:32:17] The annexation of Puerto Rico.

[00:32:18] That's, like, gold.

[00:32:19] We are talking about Major League and how good of a movie it is.

[00:32:22] I'm talking about Little Giants and how good of a movie it is.

[00:32:24] Don't besmirch Major League's name.

[00:32:26] Wow.

[00:32:28] Anyway, those are the movies.

[00:32:30] Those are the facts.

[00:32:31] That's it?

[00:32:31] Yeah.

[00:32:32] I watched four movies.

[00:32:33] You don't watch anything more?

[00:32:35] I watched four movies.

[00:32:36] What is a better movie?

[00:32:39] Moneyball or Rookie of the Year?

[00:32:40] Moneyball.

[00:32:42] Moneyball, yeah.

[00:32:43] Major League?

[00:32:45] Or The Rookie?

[00:32:47] I haven't seen The Rookie.

[00:32:50] Wait, The Rookie starring Robert Redford?

[00:32:52] Robert Redford?

[00:32:54] Yeah.

[00:32:55] Which is not the natural.

[00:32:56] Yeah, no, that's a different movie.

[00:32:58] Major League?

[00:32:59] For the Love of the Game?

[00:33:02] Or 42?

[00:33:03] 42.

[00:33:05] I've never seen 42, but I'm going to say 42.

[00:33:08] It's not surprising.

[00:33:09] Field of Dreams?

[00:33:10] Or The Sandlot?

[00:33:13] Sandlot?

[00:33:14] Yeah, The Sandlot means more to me.

[00:33:16] Me too.

[00:33:17] And that's the only reason.

[00:33:18] Angels in the Outfield?

[00:33:19] Or Mr. 3000?

[00:33:21] Angels in the Outfield.

[00:33:23] Although Bernie Mac was hilarious.

[00:33:25] Bull Durham?

[00:33:27] Or The Natural?

[00:33:29] Bull Durham.

[00:33:31] That's classic.

[00:33:32] Nuke?

[00:33:35] I don't know.

[00:33:36] That's like the epitome of a baseball movie comedy,

[00:33:38] other than Major League, in my opinion.

[00:33:40] Yeah, but The Natural is like a good baseball movie.

[00:33:43] It's a good baseball movie, sure.

[00:33:44] Like a good baseball movie.

[00:33:46] Easy there, chubby boy.

[00:33:48] What is that?

[00:33:50] Easy there, chubby boy.

[00:33:53] Easy there, fat ass.

[00:33:56] I meant it to talk about your penis,

[00:33:58] but then I realized I was going to call you chubby.

[00:34:00] I was like, easy, you're going to chubby boy?

[00:34:02] But he kind of just left it there.

[00:34:04] Like, is it going to work?

[00:34:05] I was going to go.

[00:34:06] Is it going to be too mean?

[00:34:07] What is that?

[00:34:09] Whoa, Ben, come out of the gate.

[00:34:11] It's like when you criticize somebody

[00:34:13] that has nothing to do with it.

[00:34:15] Easy there, bad breath.

[00:34:21] It's like, that seems personal.

[00:34:23] Honestly, let's start doing that.

[00:34:24] Can we just start making fun of people

[00:34:25] for things that they don't know about?

[00:34:27] But they're not necessarily horrible.

[00:34:30] Like, you're like, all right, close talker.

[00:34:31] And it's like, what?

[00:34:32] Did he call me a close talker?

[00:34:33] Yeah, you're always up in the air.

[00:34:35] And you don't explain it,

[00:34:36] but you just give him the complex of like,

[00:34:38] am I a close talker?

[00:34:40] All right, hey, sloppy eater.

[00:34:41] Have a great day.

[00:34:42] Easy there, stinky feet.

[00:34:45] Anyway, Dandruff, I'll talk to you later.

[00:34:48] Call me chubby.

[00:34:50] A couple more, though.

[00:34:51] Yeah, I like this.

[00:34:52] This is fun.

[00:34:53] Fever pitch or Major League Two?

[00:34:59] Fever pitch.

[00:35:00] Fever pitch.

[00:35:01] All right.

[00:35:02] Did we do?

[00:35:03] However, Major League Two has the best line

[00:35:07] that the manager, Lou, says.

[00:35:10] Someone came in my shoes.

[00:35:12] What?

[00:35:14] What?

[00:35:18] This is just you making yourself laugh.

[00:35:20] There's nothing.

[00:35:21] You remember that famous line of Major League Two?

[00:35:24] Oh, somebody came in my shoes.

[00:35:27] And he said it like,

[00:35:28] he talks like this.

[00:35:31] God damn it.

[00:35:32] Someone came in my shoes.

[00:35:35] Well, we got to switch Sandusky over

[00:35:37] from third to first.

[00:35:38] Oh, somebody came in my shoes.

[00:35:41] Anyway, we're going to get,

[00:35:42] and we're going to win the pennant.

[00:35:47] Anyway, somebody come and get my shoes,

[00:35:48] and I'll be right back.

[00:35:50] I was getting like a little Adam Sandler.

[00:35:52] Yeah, that's a little bit.

[00:35:53] Cody, here we are.

[00:35:54] Somebody came in my shoes.

[00:35:56] No, he's in the hospital in the second movie,

[00:35:58] and he's listening to the game

[00:36:01] when he shouldn't be,

[00:36:02] and he's watching some English soap opera

[00:36:04] that they've put on for him,

[00:36:05] and he's in a gown and everything in the bed,

[00:36:07] and he's like,

[00:36:09] all right, here we go.

[00:36:10] And he's all excited,

[00:36:11] and the nurse comes in,

[00:36:11] and he's like,

[00:36:12] sure, what is going on?

[00:36:13] And he points to the TV and goes,

[00:36:14] I love this shit,

[00:36:15] and I may move to England.

[00:36:19] And I think about that once a week.

[00:36:22] Somebody shit in my penny notice.

[00:36:23] Okay.

[00:36:24] Good little, goodness gracious.

[00:36:26] We can't have nice things.

[00:36:28] All right.

[00:36:29] What about this one?

[00:36:30] The Babe or League of Their Own?

[00:36:34] League of Their Own.

[00:36:34] Did you watch The Babe?

[00:36:36] Yeah, with John Goodman.

[00:36:37] John Goodman, yeah.

[00:36:38] That's what he plays, Babe Ruth.

[00:36:41] Correct.

[00:36:45] Bonus point for Brad.

[00:36:46] He knew what the movie was about.

[00:36:48] All right.

[00:36:49] Talent for the game.

[00:36:50] I don't even know what that is.

[00:36:51] Yeah, what the fuck is that?

[00:36:53] Talent for the game?

[00:36:54] Yeah.

[00:36:55] Now you're just getting to the B-list stuff.

[00:36:57] Talent for the game was a film made in 1991,

[00:37:03] starring Edward James Olmos,

[00:37:06] Lorraine Bracco,

[00:37:07] and Jeff Corbett.

[00:37:08] You remember that one.

[00:37:09] Oh, yeah.

[00:37:10] Famously.

[00:37:13] Or everyone's...

[00:37:14] Oh, I know another one.

[00:37:15] The Scout.

[00:37:16] The Scout.

[00:37:17] That's great.

[00:37:18] Brendan Fraser,

[00:37:19] Alan Brooks.

[00:37:20] Fantastic movie.

[00:37:22] Hardball.

[00:37:23] That's Keanu Reeves.

[00:37:24] Yeah.

[00:37:25] Versus the Bad News Bears.

[00:37:26] The original?

[00:37:27] Yeah.

[00:37:28] Yeah, the original.

[00:37:28] Yeah.

[00:37:31] I don't think we have any more.

[00:37:32] I mean, we've got some,

[00:37:34] but like,

[00:37:34] did we do Rookie of the Year yet?

[00:37:36] Baseball movies are fun.

[00:37:38] They are just a lot of fun.

[00:37:39] Trouble with the Curve.

[00:37:40] Yeah, Trouble with the Curve.

[00:37:41] In the Line of Fire.

[00:37:42] The Benchwarmers.

[00:37:44] Oh, Benchwarmers.

[00:37:45] Benchwarmers.

[00:37:45] Classic Rob Schneider.

[00:37:47] Yeah.

[00:37:47] Nick Swartzen.

[00:37:48] Classic Rob Schneider.

[00:37:49] That's where Nick Swartzen really started to take off,

[00:37:51] I think.

[00:37:54] Classic Rob Schneider.

[00:37:56] Beer League.

[00:37:58] Oh, my God.

[00:37:59] That's insane.

[00:38:00] What a way to wrap this up, guys.

[00:38:02] I watched Beer League last night.

[00:38:04] Did you really?

[00:38:04] No, you didn't.

[00:38:05] I'm not joking.

[00:38:06] How would you forget that?

[00:38:06] I totally forgot.

[00:38:07] Ashley had never seen it,

[00:38:08] and why would you?

[00:38:10] It's a throwaway movie from,

[00:38:11] what is it,

[00:38:12] 90...

[00:38:12] Not even.

[00:38:13] Like 2004 or something.

[00:38:15] 2006.

[00:38:16] Yeah.

[00:38:16] It's, in my opinion,

[00:38:18] it flies so far under the radar,

[00:38:19] but I love...

[00:38:20] the name is Artie Lang's Beer League.

[00:38:22] I love that movie so much.

[00:38:24] I really want to see

[00:38:24] Katie Lang's Beer League.

[00:38:29] Yeah, it is a new nose piercing.

[00:38:31] Thanks for noticing.

[00:38:32] Did you want to go play softball?

[00:38:35] Katie Lang's Beer League.

[00:38:39] Anyway,

[00:38:40] Artie Lang,

[00:38:40] it's basically,

[00:38:41] it's a who's who of improvisers

[00:38:43] that are on this...

[00:38:44] Like Ralph Macchio.

[00:38:49] You remember when Ralph Macchio

[00:38:50] was on Whose Line?

[00:38:50] You know what?

[00:38:51] I will take that back.

[00:38:52] It is definitely not a who's who.

[00:38:55] It's not.

[00:38:56] When someone asks you

[00:38:57] who your favorite improviser is,

[00:38:58] I know Ralph Macchio

[00:38:59] is at the top of my fucking list.

[00:39:00] Top of my list.

[00:39:02] Oh, no.

[00:39:03] But like certain people pop up.

[00:39:04] Tina Fey plays a receptionist,

[00:39:06] and she's in that film

[00:39:07] for 20 seconds.

[00:39:09] Oh, crazy.

[00:39:09] Just like these little things

[00:39:10] like that.

[00:39:10] Jim Brewer.

[00:39:12] Oh, you love Jim Brewer, Ben.

[00:39:15] Damn it.

[00:39:16] I'm just putting myself

[00:39:18] into the ground here.

[00:39:18] There's nothing I do.

[00:39:20] But Artie League,

[00:39:21] Artie League,

[00:39:22] Beer League,

[00:39:23] Artie Lang is definitely

[00:39:24] doing a lot of improv

[00:39:25] with his buddies on set here,

[00:39:28] and they just decided

[00:39:29] to record probably

[00:39:30] the funniest versions

[00:39:31] of these things.

[00:39:33] So anyway,

[00:39:33] they're having a good time

[00:39:34] improvising here,

[00:39:35] but there's a line

[00:39:36] in this film.

[00:39:37] There's a really old guy

[00:39:38] that's a pitcher,

[00:39:39] and his name's Dirt.

[00:39:40] And he's the oldest guy

[00:39:42] on the team by far,

[00:39:43] and they get in a big brawl,

[00:39:45] and they all end up

[00:39:46] in jail together.

[00:39:47] And the two teams

[00:39:48] that are in the fight

[00:39:49] are still arguing

[00:39:50] in the prison,

[00:39:51] or in the jail,

[00:39:52] and this Dirt guy

[00:39:53] looks at this huge,

[00:39:54] massive six foot five,

[00:39:55] like beast of a dude,

[00:39:56] he goes,

[00:39:56] don't eyeball me, Junior.

[00:39:58] I used to fuck guys

[00:39:59] bigger than you in the joint.

[00:40:00] And it cuts to Artie,

[00:40:01] and that's a,

[00:40:02] okay, it's a fine joke, right?

[00:40:03] But then it cuts to Artie Lang,

[00:40:04] he's like,

[00:40:04] guys, we gotta stop.

[00:40:05] Did Dirt just say

[00:40:06] you used to fuck guys in prison?

[00:40:07] Like, that's the kind of humor

[00:40:08] that I love,

[00:40:09] where it's like,

[00:40:09] they're calling it out

[00:40:10] in the moment,

[00:40:11] rather than just letting

[00:40:12] that be the joke.

[00:40:13] Artie Lang's very good at that,

[00:40:14] about like,

[00:40:15] this would be silly

[00:40:16] if we didn't,

[00:40:16] like if the character didn't,

[00:40:17] you know,

[00:40:18] bring that to everybody's attention,

[00:40:19] that this is weird.

[00:40:20] Yeah.

[00:40:20] I love humor like that,

[00:40:21] and I think that's why

[00:40:21] this movie really speaks to me

[00:40:23] in that way,

[00:40:24] because I just fucking love it.

[00:40:25] Is Beer League better

[00:40:26] than Basketball?

[00:40:27] No.

[00:40:28] No.

[00:40:29] Basketball is still

[00:40:30] a very, very good movie.

[00:40:31] Okay.

[00:40:32] Like,

[00:40:32] Beer League's a movie,

[00:40:35] it's a vehicle for jokes,

[00:40:36] right?

[00:40:36] Basketball actually has a plot,

[00:40:38] and there's stuff going on.

[00:40:39] This one is just like,

[00:40:40] how many jokes

[00:40:41] can we try to fit in here,

[00:40:42] you know,

[00:40:42] in this hour and a half,

[00:40:44] or whatever.

[00:40:44] Yeah.

[00:40:44] But yeah.

[00:40:45] He does that thing too,

[00:40:46] where he narrates for himself

[00:40:47] as he's like walking up to the mountain,

[00:40:49] he's like,

[00:40:49] his name's Artie Devanzo

[00:40:50] in the movie,

[00:40:51] Devanzo walks in,

[00:40:53] bronze tan from the gods,

[00:40:55] he does that kind of

[00:40:56] announcement voice the whole time,

[00:40:57] he's hitting 355 this season,

[00:40:59] and the ladies,

[00:41:00] they love to get on him,

[00:41:01] like it's,

[00:41:02] he does all that

[00:41:02] false bravado stuff,

[00:41:03] it's so good.

[00:41:04] And that's enough about Beer League,

[00:41:05] that's the most anybody's ever

[00:41:06] talked about Beer League.

[00:41:08] He might be right.

[00:41:09] I don't think Artie Lang's

[00:41:10] talked that much about Beer League.

[00:41:11] It's so,

[00:41:11] it's so fun.

[00:41:13] And you know,

[00:41:14] the classic improviser,

[00:41:15] Ralph Macchio,

[00:41:15] was in that film as well,

[00:41:16] you're right.

[00:41:17] Nate,

[00:41:17] do you like Beer League?

[00:41:19] I don't think I've seen it

[00:41:20] since 2004,

[00:41:21] and I don't remember.

[00:41:23] You have seen it?

[00:41:23] I know I've seen it,

[00:41:24] but I don't remember

[00:41:26] remembering it.

[00:41:27] Gotcha.

[00:41:27] I don't remember

[00:41:28] remembering it.

[00:41:29] I remember watching it going,

[00:41:31] okay.

[00:41:33] Good.

[00:41:34] Well,

[00:41:34] not every movie

[00:41:35] can speak to everybody.

[00:41:36] Top notch comedy advice

[00:41:37] from Ben,

[00:41:38] yet again.

[00:41:38] Yeah.

[00:41:39] I love that the movies

[00:41:40] that speak to me

[00:41:41] are Beer League.

[00:41:42] Beer League.

[00:41:42] And the movies

[00:41:43] that speak to you

[00:41:43] are like,

[00:41:44] I can't wait to hear

[00:41:45] La Fontaine

[00:41:45] Grand Bonfemousar,

[00:41:47] or whatever.

[00:41:47] I haven't seen that one yet.

[00:41:48] You're gonna see.

[00:41:49] It's got a lot of talk though.

[00:41:52] All right.

[00:41:52] The Grand Nipplé,

[00:41:53] our friends.

[00:41:54] There you go.

[00:41:54] Cool.

[00:41:56] Whatever mangly toes

[00:41:57] Conowitz.

[00:42:00] Mangly toes Conowitz.

[00:42:01] That's what you've been

[00:42:02] sitting on this whole time?

[00:42:03] No,

[00:42:03] that one just came to me.

[00:42:05] All right, fair enough.

[00:42:05] I looked at your toes,

[00:42:06] and I'm like,

[00:42:07] You look like you

[00:42:08] shoved your toes

[00:42:09] into bricks.

[00:42:10] I have fine toes.

[00:42:12] They're fine.

[00:42:12] I don't have weird toes.

[00:42:14] Why do you have

[00:42:15] socks on all the time?

[00:42:16] It's cold down here.

[00:42:17] Why do your socks

[00:42:18] look like they have

[00:42:18] mashed up erasers?

[00:42:20] Did you say

[00:42:21] mashed up erasers?

[00:42:22] Raises.

[00:42:23] It's like

[00:42:24] mashed up erasers.

[00:42:25] It's like

[00:42:25] God ate raisins

[00:42:27] and chewed them up

[00:42:28] and stuck them on your toes.

[00:42:29] That's not what

[00:42:30] my feet look like.

[00:42:31] Don't spread that narrative.

[00:42:32] You look like you have

[00:42:32] a black sock

[00:42:33] full of soggy grapes.

[00:42:34] I don't, though.

[00:42:35] They're real human toes.

[00:42:36] But why does it look like it

[00:42:37] if you don't?

[00:42:38] Yeah, why does it look like that?

[00:42:39] I'm wiggling them right now.

[00:42:40] They're fine.

[00:42:41] Oh, they just look lumpy.

[00:42:42] What that is?

[00:42:42] A wiggle?

[00:42:42] It's not lumpy.

[00:42:43] Those are toes.

[00:42:44] It looks like porridge.

[00:42:45] What toes look like?

[00:42:46] Porridge in your feet.

[00:42:47] What?

[00:42:48] Feet porridge.

[00:42:49] Something came in my shoes.

[00:42:52] Go to classic wine.

[00:42:54] We love Major League.

[00:42:57] Major League 2.

[00:42:58] Yeah, of course.

[00:42:59] Just the franchise.

[00:43:01] It's a baseball joke.

[00:43:04] Well, so

[00:43:05] I think it's fully appropriate

[00:43:06] that Ben is making fun of me

[00:43:08] for watching

[00:43:08] arthouse movies

[00:43:09] or movies that have subtitles

[00:43:10] or things that make him think.

[00:43:13] When the first movie

[00:43:14] that I'm going to talk about

[00:43:15] on this list

[00:43:15] that I watched

[00:43:16] is Hot Frosty.

[00:43:18] Nate,

[00:43:18] have you seen Hot Frosty?

[00:43:20] I don't know

[00:43:21] if I did or not.

[00:43:23] how have you watched

[00:43:24] a bunch of Christmas movies

[00:43:25] and Hot Frosty

[00:43:26] has escaped your radar?

[00:43:27] What?

[00:43:27] Is it with the

[00:43:28] Nom de Plume

[00:43:29] and Bascale France?

[00:43:31] Okay, yeah.

[00:43:31] So I'm going to admit to you

[00:43:33] this is on my list to see.

[00:43:34] I am sadly

[00:43:37] very behind

[00:43:37] on Christmas movies

[00:43:39] because I've been so busy.

[00:43:40] Wow.

[00:43:40] Hot Frosty

[00:43:41] has the guy

[00:43:42] from Schitt's Creek,

[00:43:43] right?

[00:43:43] Yes.

[00:43:44] I have not seen

[00:43:45] Schitt's Creek yet.

[00:43:47] How have you not seen

[00:43:48] Schitt's Creek?

[00:43:48] I just haven't taken

[00:43:49] the time to do it

[00:43:50] and six seasons

[00:43:50] feels very daunting.

[00:43:52] It's not.

[00:43:54] I have heard

[00:43:54] it's very funny.

[00:43:55] You will get done with it

[00:43:55] and go,

[00:43:56] I'm just going to watch it again.

[00:43:57] But it has Lacey Shabert

[00:43:58] in it as well.

[00:43:59] And the thing that's fun about it

[00:44:00] is...

[00:44:00] Do you still have a crush

[00:44:01] on Lacey Chabert?

[00:44:03] Isn't she the one

[00:44:04] that had to turn down

[00:44:05] the family guy role

[00:44:06] because she was too

[00:44:08] religious?

[00:44:08] Well, this is back

[00:44:09] in like 1994.

[00:44:11] Yeah, and granted

[00:44:12] she still could be religious.

[00:44:13] I mean,

[00:44:14] she hasn't done movies

[00:44:14] that really go against

[00:44:15] that idea.

[00:44:16] All right.

[00:44:18] But no,

[00:44:19] I don't have the same crush

[00:44:20] on Lacey Shabert

[00:44:20] as I did when I was younger.

[00:44:22] I first noticed

[00:44:22] Lacey Shabert

[00:44:23] when I was just a teen

[00:44:25] and getting into

[00:44:26] the Lost in Space movie

[00:44:27] and I thought...

[00:44:28] Getting into it

[00:44:29] like it's a series?

[00:44:30] No.

[00:44:31] I was just getting into

[00:44:31] the Lost in Space movie

[00:44:32] and I watched it

[00:44:33] over and over and over.

[00:44:33] I really did.

[00:44:34] I loved that movie so much

[00:44:35] even though it's bad.

[00:44:37] I loved it when I was a kid

[00:44:38] and I had a crush

[00:44:39] on Lacey Shabert

[00:44:39] for a little while.

[00:44:40] And Matt LeBlanc.

[00:44:40] And Matt LeBlanc.

[00:44:42] Handsome, chiseled chin.

[00:44:44] Anyway...

[00:44:45] By the way,

[00:44:45] there is a connection

[00:44:46] between Artie Lang's

[00:44:47] Beer League

[00:44:48] and Hot Frosty.

[00:44:49] Who is it?

[00:44:50] Is it Joe Latrugla?

[00:44:52] It is Joe Latrugla

[00:44:53] who plays an amazing

[00:44:55] character in Beer League.

[00:44:56] Nice.

[00:44:57] So Hot Frosty

[00:44:58] is kind of similar

[00:45:00] to Christmas with the Campbells.

[00:45:02] A fully hallmark

[00:45:04] Christmas style movie

[00:45:06] that follows

[00:45:07] the very silly premise

[00:45:08] of this scarf

[00:45:09] bringing a chiseled

[00:45:11] man, snowman

[00:45:13] to life as a real person.

[00:45:15] And Lacey Shabert

[00:45:16] being in a difficult situation

[00:45:17] where she's still mourning

[00:45:18] the death of her husband

[00:45:19] isn't really ready

[00:45:20] to fall in love yet

[00:45:21] but of course

[00:45:22] is very attracted

[00:45:23] to this snowman

[00:45:23] that has come to life.

[00:45:25] Who hasn't?

[00:45:26] Who among us?

[00:45:27] That old chestnut

[00:45:29] resting by an open fire.

[00:45:30] But what's great

[00:45:30] is the movie

[00:45:31] is self-aware enough

[00:45:32] to know what it's doing

[00:45:34] and it has some actual

[00:45:36] other...

[00:45:36] So is this a

[00:45:40] David Wayne type parody?

[00:45:41] No, that's the thing.

[00:45:42] That's why I compare it

[00:45:43] to Christmas with the Campbells

[00:45:44] because Christmas with the Campbells

[00:45:45] also has...

[00:45:46] Isn't it a parody film?

[00:45:47] No, it has a genuine

[00:45:48] hallmark heart and center

[00:45:50] to it

[00:45:50] but it sprinkles out

[00:45:53] contemporary R-rated comedy

[00:45:54] that you wouldn't expect

[00:45:55] that kind of movie to have.

[00:45:56] It's kind of hard

[00:45:57] to describe honestly

[00:45:58] like these types of films.

[00:45:59] It's very unique.

[00:46:00] This one doesn't go

[00:46:01] for R-rated laughs

[00:46:03] but it does have

[00:46:04] good comedy in it

[00:46:04] and it's self-aware enough

[00:46:06] that it leans

[00:46:06] into the silliness

[00:46:07] without...

[00:46:08] This shockingly has

[00:46:08] an 85% of the channels.

[00:46:09] Yeah, people have been

[00:46:10] loving this.

[00:46:10] What's the one you saw

[00:46:11] that you said this was

[00:46:12] Hallmark writers wrote it

[00:46:14] and then comedians...

[00:46:14] That's what I'm talking about

[00:46:15] Christmas with the Campbells.

[00:46:16] Yeah, I couldn't remember.

[00:46:17] I watched that last year

[00:46:18] and you're absolutely right

[00:46:19] that that had...

[00:46:20] It was like somebody gave

[00:46:22] Hallmark writers permission

[00:46:23] to make an R-rated movie.

[00:46:24] Yeah, basically they had

[00:46:25] a Hallmark script

[00:46:26] and then they handed it over

[00:46:28] to Vince Vaughn or whoever

[00:46:29] and they added R-rated humor

[00:46:30] to it.

[00:46:31] That's hilarious.

[00:46:32] So yeah, so this doesn't

[00:46:33] go R-rated but it does have

[00:46:34] some good comedy in it.

[00:46:35] It has a solid ensemble cast.

[00:46:37] It's charming.

[00:46:38] It's fun.

[00:46:38] It knows it's silly.

[00:46:40] Here's a consensus review

[00:46:42] on Rotten Tomatoes.

[00:46:44] The first two words

[00:46:45] maybe describe it well.

[00:46:47] Knowingly goofy.

[00:46:48] Yes, 100%.

[00:46:49] Craig Robinson and Joe

[00:46:51] Latruglio are in it

[00:46:52] and they play two cops

[00:46:53] and they're very funny.

[00:46:53] Oh, cool.

[00:46:54] But it knows what it is.

[00:46:55] Is this a streaming?

[00:46:56] It's on Netflix.

[00:46:57] It's a Netflix original.

[00:46:58] Sweet.

[00:46:58] I will check that out tonight.

[00:46:59] I'll watch that tonight, Nate.

[00:47:01] Yeah, I should.

[00:47:01] I'll beat you to it.

[00:47:02] Watch it tonight.

[00:47:03] I watched...

[00:47:04] Now when I say this title,

[00:47:06] Ben's going to be like,

[00:47:06] oh, this is one of

[00:47:07] the birth movies.

[00:47:08] Here we go.

[00:47:09] The Remarkable Life of Ebelin.

[00:47:11] It's a documentary

[00:47:12] and it tells the story

[00:47:14] of this teen

[00:47:15] who had this debilitating disease

[00:47:17] where his body

[00:47:18] is just slowly

[00:47:20] losing the ability

[00:47:22] to control itself.

[00:47:22] It's a musculature...

[00:47:25] musculatory disease

[00:47:27] and it follows his parents

[00:47:28] talking about him

[00:47:29] and saying, you know,

[00:47:30] that he didn't seem like

[00:47:31] that he had a lot of friends

[00:47:33] or anything like that

[00:47:33] and he found solace

[00:47:35] in playing video games online.

[00:47:37] And he passed away

[00:47:39] and they knew

[00:47:40] that he kept a blog

[00:47:41] and so they decided

[00:47:42] to put a post out there,

[00:47:43] just anybody who might have

[00:47:44] been reading his blog

[00:47:45] because he was online so much,

[00:47:46] to let them know

[00:47:47] that he had passed.

[00:47:48] And so they put out

[00:47:49] a blog post saying

[00:47:50] that this kid had passed

[00:47:51] and they start getting

[00:47:52] all these emails

[00:47:53] from people

[00:47:54] and the documentary shows

[00:47:56] how they found out

[00:47:57] that he had this

[00:47:58] huge community

[00:47:59] of friends

[00:48:00] through World of Warcraft

[00:48:01] whose lives he had

[00:48:03] like touched

[00:48:04] and like helped

[00:48:05] and like was a real

[00:48:05] genuine friend to

[00:48:06] and they had no idea

[00:48:08] about these connections.

[00:48:09] And so the whole documentary

[00:48:10] uses animation

[00:48:12] using the actual game models

[00:48:14] from World of Warcraft

[00:48:14] to represent his character

[00:48:16] and all the other people

[00:48:17] who had characters

[00:48:18] in the game.

[00:48:19] So they got,

[00:48:19] so the World of Warcraft people

[00:48:21] gave them the license

[00:48:22] to do it?

[00:48:23] That's awesome.

[00:48:23] Yeah, and so part of it's animated

[00:48:25] and it has,

[00:48:26] it like recounts the story

[00:48:27] of like what happened

[00:48:28] with him

[00:48:28] and these other friends

[00:48:29] that he had.

[00:48:29] They actually talked

[00:48:30] to the friends

[00:48:31] like who they were online

[00:48:32] and like do interviews

[00:48:33] with them and everything.

[00:48:34] It's just a beautiful

[00:48:35] touching movie

[00:48:36] and it just shows

[00:48:37] that like what some

[00:48:39] thing that people

[00:48:39] have often like

[00:48:41] easily dismissed

[00:48:42] as like being bad

[00:48:43] for kids

[00:48:43] or stuff like that.

[00:48:44] How like a video game

[00:48:46] can create such a strong

[00:48:47] community where people

[00:48:47] who have difficulty

[00:48:49] or don't even have

[00:48:50] the ability to communicate

[00:48:51] normally are able

[00:48:52] to make these strong

[00:48:53] connections with people

[00:48:54] and even change

[00:48:55] their lives

[00:48:56] without even meeting

[00:48:56] them in person.

[00:48:58] You know,

[00:48:58] it's just,

[00:48:58] it's a beautiful,

[00:48:59] beautiful documentary

[00:49:00] and it's really well done.

[00:49:08] All right,

[00:49:09] man,

[00:49:10] when my nipples

[00:49:10] get warm,

[00:49:11] they do look like

[00:49:11] crispy pepperonis.

[00:49:15] How's it feel?

[00:49:18] I,

[00:49:19] you know,

[00:49:19] I mean,

[00:49:19] I don't,

[00:49:20] I don't know.

[00:49:20] I hope so

[00:49:21] because like,

[00:49:21] you know,

[00:49:22] definitely not on this

[00:49:23] podcast,

[00:49:25] but no,

[00:49:26] like I will say

[00:49:26] that I know

[00:49:27] that when,

[00:49:28] when my dad died,

[00:49:30] I talked about it

[00:49:31] on Slash Film Daily

[00:49:32] and I got pretty

[00:49:33] emotional about it

[00:49:33] and I received a lot

[00:49:34] of emails from people

[00:49:35] about that

[00:49:36] and I talked to some

[00:49:37] people who,

[00:49:38] after like years later,

[00:49:40] they were like,

[00:49:40] they're like,

[00:49:40] I still remember

[00:49:41] when you talked

[00:49:41] about your dad,

[00:49:42] you know,

[00:49:42] on Slash Film Daily

[00:49:43] and like just that,

[00:49:44] you know,

[00:49:44] it meant a lot to them

[00:49:45] and it made them feel,

[00:49:46] you know,

[00:49:46] sad and everything.

[00:49:47] So,

[00:49:47] yeah,

[00:49:48] I mean,

[00:49:48] I hope so.

[00:49:48] I know,

[00:49:49] I think that it's a little

[00:49:49] more,

[00:49:50] usually more tied to like

[00:49:52] introducing people to

[00:49:53] movies they might not

[00:49:54] have seen every now

[00:49:54] and then I get somebody

[00:49:55] who's like,

[00:49:55] thanks for recommending,

[00:49:56] you know,

[00:49:57] this.

[00:49:58] It was so good.

[00:49:59] I loved it.

[00:50:00] Someone thanked me

[00:50:01] about Snack Shack

[00:50:02] the other day online

[00:50:03] and I was like,

[00:50:04] oh,

[00:50:04] that's great,

[00:50:04] you know?

[00:50:05] Thanks for Particles

[00:50:06] of Sands of Time.

[00:50:08] Really,

[00:50:09] you know,

[00:50:10] once I got through

[00:50:10] the Sanskrit

[00:50:12] subtitles,

[00:50:13] it was pretty good.

[00:50:13] You can't read Sanskrit?

[00:50:16] The Sanskrit subtitles.

[00:50:19] Shifting back

[00:50:19] into Christmas mode,

[00:50:20] Nate,

[00:50:21] I have a bit

[00:50:21] of a differing opinion

[00:50:22] than you offered

[00:50:23] on a recent episode

[00:50:24] of Go Flicks Yourself.

[00:50:26] I watched Red One.

[00:50:29] Breaking news.

[00:50:30] I watched Red One.

[00:50:31] It wasn't good.

[00:50:32] I liked it.

[00:50:33] I haven't seen it yet.

[00:50:34] You're dumb.

[00:50:35] No,

[00:50:36] here's,

[00:50:36] I will,

[00:50:39] I will,

[00:50:39] I love that this isn't

[00:50:40] even going to be a debate.

[00:50:42] You're dumb.

[00:50:43] Nate is like,

[00:50:43] I'm not even going

[00:50:44] to talk about the film.

[00:50:45] I will attack you

[00:50:45] as a person.

[00:50:46] You're dumb.

[00:50:47] I do.

[00:50:48] I'm sorry,

[00:50:49] Sasquatch nose.

[00:50:50] I do.

[00:50:51] We've got to work

[00:50:52] on these,

[00:50:52] buddy.

[00:50:53] I do agree

[00:50:54] with your critiques.

[00:50:55] I do think

[00:50:56] Chris Evans

[00:50:56] is not as good

[00:50:58] as someone

[00:50:58] who is a bona fide

[00:50:59] comedian would have

[00:51:00] been in the role.

[00:51:00] Thank you.

[00:51:01] And I do think

[00:51:01] that the plot

[00:51:02] is silly

[00:51:03] and that Kiernan Shipka

[00:51:04] does not work

[00:51:05] as the villain.

[00:51:05] And The Rock

[00:51:06] doesn't work.

[00:51:07] They needed somebody

[00:51:07] older in Kiernan Shipka's role.

[00:51:09] Thank you.

[00:51:10] Yes.

[00:51:10] Okay,

[00:51:10] that's all I said.

[00:51:12] However,

[00:51:12] I do think The Rock

[00:51:13] works because

[00:51:15] what I like about

[00:51:16] this movie actually

[00:51:18] sometimes to a detriment

[00:51:19] not all the time

[00:51:20] but there are some times

[00:51:21] where it takes itself

[00:51:22] so seriously

[00:51:23] that I can't help

[00:51:24] but laugh

[00:51:24] that they made

[00:51:25] a Christmas version

[00:51:26] of Air Force One.

[00:51:28] That's a lot of fun.

[00:51:29] There's a couple lines

[00:51:30] where Dwayne Johnson

[00:51:31] says something

[00:51:32] and I just laugh

[00:51:32] because he says it

[00:51:33] in such a deadly

[00:51:34] serious way.

[00:51:34] I was like,

[00:51:34] I can't believe

[00:51:35] this is a Christmas movie.

[00:51:36] That's what I'm saying though.

[00:51:37] It's like,

[00:51:37] come on.

[00:51:38] It brought me joy

[00:51:39] but I don't

[00:51:40] It brought me joy?

[00:51:41] Then again,

[00:51:41] I'm not dead inside.

[00:51:42] I don't think it fully

[00:51:44] It's not the kind of movie

[00:51:45] where it knows what it is

[00:51:46] and I wish

[00:51:46] That's what my point is.

[00:51:48] I wish they would have

[00:51:48] been able to lean more

[00:51:49] into that.

[00:51:50] Yes.

[00:51:50] But it still entertained me

[00:51:52] on that same level.

[00:51:54] I did say

[00:51:54] there's a lot to like.

[00:51:55] There's a world they created.

[00:51:57] I like the world they created.

[00:51:58] That's what I was going to say.

[00:51:59] That's my favorite thing

[00:52:00] is the way that they treated

[00:52:02] the mythology

[00:52:03] around Santa Claus

[00:52:04] especially when they show

[00:52:06] how Santa Claus

[00:52:06] does what he does

[00:52:07] on Christmas.

[00:52:08] That was fun.

[00:52:09] It was new.

[00:52:10] It was like a way to do it.

[00:52:11] Very new,

[00:52:11] very refreshing.

[00:52:12] And I told you

[00:52:13] I really like J.K. Simmons

[00:52:15] as Santa.

[00:52:15] I thought he plays

[00:52:16] a really fun

[00:52:17] re-imaging of Santa.

[00:52:20] Yeah,

[00:52:21] Nate off-brand

[00:52:21] Apple watch wearer.

[00:52:23] And I did want more

[00:52:24] of Nick Kroll.

[00:52:26] Nick Kroll's role

[00:52:26] randomly hilarious.

[00:52:29] That's an off-brand.

[00:52:30] He's got a pair watch.

[00:52:36] He flared his eyes

[00:52:37] at me like

[00:52:37] I swear to fucking God

[00:52:38] if you fucking do this.

[00:52:40] We're not going down that road.

[00:52:41] By the way,

[00:52:42] I told you though

[00:52:43] Nick Kroll

[00:52:43] We're not doing

[00:52:43] iFruit comedy.

[00:52:46] Nick Kroll does great.

[00:52:47] Peach?

[00:52:48] You know

[00:52:48] Peach in your bucket?

[00:52:49] Their computers are called

[00:52:49] Mock Books.

[00:52:50] Fuck you.

[00:52:55] That one's not that bad.

[00:52:55] I'm still going to give it to you though.

[00:52:58] Okay, go ahead.

[00:52:59] Nick Kroll?

[00:52:59] Nick Kroll.

[00:53:00] He's fantastic in this.

[00:53:02] In the little bit he does.

[00:53:03] It's really good.

[00:53:04] I wanted more.

[00:53:05] But yeah, I mean

[00:53:06] Chris Evans just took me out of it

[00:53:08] a little bit.

[00:53:08] Not because I genuinely do love

[00:53:10] Chris Evans.

[00:53:10] I just didn't think this was his role.

[00:53:12] I didn't think it was perfect in this.

[00:53:14] I agree.

[00:53:14] But I also appreciate that

[00:53:15] the action sequences

[00:53:16] were genuinely cool action sequences.

[00:53:18] They actually had some

[00:53:19] really cool set pieces

[00:53:20] that they did in this movie

[00:53:21] and I had fun with it.

[00:53:23] I did not dislike it

[00:53:25] and it was not nearly as dumb

[00:53:26] as I thought it would be.

[00:53:27] Well, you're stupid.

[00:53:28] Well, you're stupid.

[00:53:32] That's funny.

[00:53:32] I watched one more Christmas movie

[00:53:34] that's new this year

[00:53:36] that I hadn't seen yet.

[00:53:37] Nate, have you heard of

[00:53:38] That Christmas?

[00:53:39] No.

[00:53:41] Buckle up, my friend.

[00:53:43] Oh boy.

[00:53:43] No.

[00:53:44] This is an animated movie

[00:53:45] for the whole family.

[00:53:46] Oh, no, Ryan.

[00:53:46] I did watch this.

[00:53:47] I watched this on Netflix.

[00:53:49] Dick shit.

[00:53:50] He watches so many.

[00:53:51] It's British.

[00:53:52] The titles get lost

[00:53:53] to the sands of time.

[00:53:54] I forgot about that.

[00:53:55] Oh, This Christmas,

[00:53:56] That Christmas,

[00:53:57] I've seen them all.

[00:53:58] This is directed by Richard Curtis

[00:53:59] who previously directed

[00:54:00] Love Actually.

[00:54:01] Yep.

[00:54:01] Hey.

[00:54:02] This is a movie.

[00:54:03] I thought this was

[00:54:03] beautiful animation,

[00:54:05] really loved it,

[00:54:05] but I didn't love

[00:54:06] the film itself.

[00:54:07] Oh, no, I did.

[00:54:07] I thought it was really charming.

[00:54:09] It was fine.

[00:54:09] It honestly feels like

[00:54:10] a family-friendly version

[00:54:11] of Love Actually

[00:54:12] because it has these

[00:54:13] interconnected storylines

[00:54:15] and what they actually did

[00:54:16] is I guess Richard Curtis

[00:54:17] wrote three kids books

[00:54:19] based around Christmas

[00:54:20] and so they took

[00:54:20] all three of those books

[00:54:21] and just linked them together

[00:54:22] into one story

[00:54:23] set in the same town.

[00:54:25] But Brian Cox plays

[00:54:26] Santa Claus,

[00:54:27] which I love.

[00:54:28] That was very fun.

[00:54:29] Really cool animation.

[00:54:30] I thought it was

[00:54:31] a very touching story.

[00:54:32] I particularly like the story

[00:54:33] about the kids

[00:54:33] making their own Christmas.

[00:54:34] That felt like a lot of fun

[00:54:35] to me of them

[00:54:36] establishing new traditions

[00:54:38] and I've never seen

[00:54:40] a Christmas movie

[00:54:42] reconcile with the idea

[00:54:43] of new traditions

[00:54:45] and pulling away

[00:54:46] from old ones

[00:54:46] just because of their traditions

[00:54:47] and they did it

[00:54:48] in a really fun way

[00:54:49] with kids

[00:54:50] and giving them

[00:54:51] the leeway to

[00:54:51] yeah, you can do new things.

[00:54:53] You don't have to just follow

[00:54:54] old Christmas traditions.

[00:54:56] Everyone can do

[00:54:57] whatever they want to.

[00:54:58] It's Christmas.

[00:54:59] So yeah, it's a lot of fun

[00:55:00] and everyone can watch it.

[00:55:02] It's PG

[00:55:03] so it's literally

[00:55:03] for the whole family.

[00:55:04] I like the animation

[00:55:05] of this one a lot.

[00:55:07] I didn't think it was

[00:55:08] it didn't have the magic

[00:55:09] for me

[00:55:10] because I watched this

[00:55:11] maybe two weeks ago.

[00:55:12] I forgot to bring it up

[00:55:13] but it didn't have

[00:55:15] the magic for me

[00:55:16] that I watched.

[00:55:16] He's forgotten

[00:55:17] more Christmas movies

[00:55:18] than you'll ever see.

[00:55:18] Oh, I don't doubt it.

[00:55:22] Whatever.

[00:55:23] Fake meth mouth.

[00:55:24] Oh, Jesus Christ.

[00:55:27] Now, wait a minute.

[00:55:28] That's almost double insulting

[00:55:29] because A, your mouth

[00:55:30] looks terrible

[00:55:31] but B, you're doing it

[00:55:32] to make yourself seem cool.

[00:55:33] Well, because he doesn't

[00:55:34] actually do meth

[00:55:35] so I don't know

[00:55:36] how he's got meth mouth.

[00:55:37] He knows I don't do meth

[00:55:39] but I still have meth mouth.

[00:55:41] Good guy.

[00:55:42] And that's actually

[00:55:42] the second teeth comment

[00:55:44] that you've said tonight

[00:55:45] which makes me think

[00:55:46] there's something going on here.

[00:55:48] Maybe you'll start

[00:55:49] going to the death.

[00:55:50] Thank God.

[00:55:52] For as much as you

[00:55:53] hate the Brits

[00:55:54] I hate them so much.

[00:55:56] I've seen Dirty Keys

[00:55:57] with better teeth than you.

[00:55:59] What's that character?

[00:56:01] You dropped into

[00:56:02] a southern accent?

[00:56:03] I've seen Dirty Keys

[00:56:04] I've seen Dirty Keys

[00:56:05] with more yellow on them

[00:56:07] than the back of a coonhound.

[00:56:09] A what?

[00:56:10] A coonhound.

[00:56:11] What's that?

[00:56:12] There's a dog

[00:56:13] that hunts raccoons.

[00:56:14] A dog that hunts.

[00:56:15] I've seen worse

[00:56:18] white walls

[00:56:19] on a Studebaker.

[00:56:21] I've seen fences

[00:56:23] half painted

[00:56:24] that are worse teeth than that.

[00:56:26] I've seen

[00:56:27] I've seen some things.

[00:56:30] A Vietnam flashback?

[00:56:32] Oh, Desert Storm

[00:56:34] I'm a young man.

[00:56:35] Are you?

[00:56:36] Yeah, I'm only 50.

[00:56:37] Oh, okay.

[00:56:38] Desert Storm

[00:56:39] was technically

[00:56:40] a long time ago.

[00:56:42] That's our new Vietnam.

[00:56:43] By the way

[00:56:44] you're like working

[00:56:44] into a George W.

[00:56:47] Well, not long ago.

[00:56:48] I'm going to get into

[00:56:48] a little southern drawl now

[00:56:50] and calm down a little bit.

[00:56:52] He got excited

[00:56:53] and then he turned

[00:56:53] into a southern gentleman.

[00:56:55] I do say so.

[00:56:56] I do declare

[00:56:58] that your teeth

[00:56:59] are not as off-white

[00:57:00] as I would like them to be.

[00:57:03] Anyway.

[00:57:04] Any other films?

[00:57:05] No, that's it.

[00:57:05] That's all I've seen.

[00:57:06] I still need to see Wicked, man.

[00:57:09] I haven't either.

[00:57:09] I need to go to the theaters.

[00:57:11] I think we're going to go

[00:57:11] after Christmas probably.

[00:57:13] Hey, did you start

[00:57:13] watching Shrinking yet?

[00:57:14] No, I'm waiting

[00:57:15] until Brittany gets back

[00:57:16] so we can watch it together.

[00:57:18] You're going to love it

[00:57:19] if you're not.

[00:57:20] Hey, listeners.

[00:57:21] I know this is a film podcast

[00:57:22] but Ben will allow me

[00:57:23] to talk about Shrinking.

[00:57:24] It's one of the few shows

[00:57:25] he allows me to talk about.

[00:57:26] That's true.

[00:57:27] The other one is

[00:57:27] Big Tits on Sunset.

[00:57:29] What the fuck?

[00:57:31] That's Ben's favorite

[00:57:33] Shrinking show.

[00:57:34] Big Tits on Sunset.

[00:57:35] Yeah.

[00:57:35] It's not what you think.

[00:57:36] It's girls showing their

[00:57:37] tits on Sunset.

[00:57:38] Oh my God.

[00:57:39] All right.

[00:57:40] All right.

[00:57:41] But watch the second season

[00:57:42] I told you that in confidence.

[00:57:44] No, you told it to me

[00:57:45] confidently.

[00:57:45] Yeah.

[00:57:47] Yeah, it's a great show.

[00:57:48] Ben goes,

[00:57:48] I love Big Tits on Sunset.

[00:57:50] Oh my God.

[00:57:50] He was so excited.

[00:57:51] What's wrong with you?

[00:57:52] What's wrong with me?

[00:57:53] What's wrong with you?

[00:57:53] You're watching streaming porn shows.

[00:57:54] I'm not watching any of that.

[00:57:56] You told me you even watched

[00:57:57] the opening credit sequence

[00:57:58] so you won't skip it.

[00:57:59] I said that about Ted Lasso.

[00:58:01] No, you were definitely

[00:58:02] talking about Big Tits on Sunset.

[00:58:08] Previously on

[00:58:08] Big Tits on Sunset.

[00:58:09] What about these?

[00:58:11] Holy shit.

[00:58:11] Those are Big Tits.

[00:58:14] Anyway,

[00:58:15] back to Sunset Boulevard.

[00:58:17] I don't know what we're doing anymore.

[00:58:19] Merry Christmas, I guess.

[00:58:22] Merry Christmas.

[00:58:23] This is your Christmas episode.

[00:58:24] We did it.

[00:58:25] Shrinking is incredible.

[00:58:26] If you're not watching it,

[00:58:27] it should be.

[00:58:27] It's just as good,

[00:58:29] if not sometimes more fun

[00:58:31] to watch than Ted Lasso.

[00:58:33] I mean,

[00:58:33] I love it.

[00:58:34] All of the guest stars

[00:58:36] and all of the,

[00:58:37] you know,

[00:58:39] cast that they brought in

[00:58:40] this year

[00:58:41] has just been a crazy mission.

[00:58:42] Amazing.

[00:58:43] It's time though.

[00:58:44] It is time for

[00:58:45] the thing that everyone

[00:58:46] is waiting for.

[00:58:47] Kissing.

[00:58:48] The show to end.

[00:58:49] It's trailer time.

[00:58:50] We're gonna,

[00:58:50] oh yeah, man.

[00:58:51] Shit.

[00:58:52] You know what time it is.

[00:58:53] What time is it?

[00:58:56] Game time.

[00:58:56] Game time.

[00:58:58] Have yourself a merry little trailer.

[00:59:02] Let the trailer come to you.

[00:59:05] Sit around and watch

[00:59:07] this little trailer

[00:59:08] with me and you.

[00:59:11] And I rhymed you

[00:59:12] with you again.

[00:59:13] You should have done two.

[00:59:14] I always do.

[00:59:15] You should have done

[00:59:15] watch this little trailer two.

[00:59:16] Yeah, sorry.

[00:59:18] Have yourself a merry

[00:59:20] little Christmas.

[00:59:22] You'll watch a trailer

[00:59:23] or two.

[00:59:25] Have yourself

[00:59:26] the best little Christmas

[00:59:28] from Go Flix Yourself

[00:59:29] to you.

[00:59:31] He still has that problem

[00:59:31] where he knows

[00:59:32] like the very first part

[00:59:33] and then just wanders off

[00:59:34] into nowhere.

[00:59:35] That's a nice little message

[00:59:35] for the listener.

[00:59:36] Sure.

[00:59:37] Have a merry little Christmas

[00:59:38] from Go Flix Yourself

[00:59:38] to you.

[00:59:39] Wow.

[00:59:39] Cute.

[00:59:41] It would be a lot better

[00:59:42] if it actually fit

[00:59:44] the structure of the song though.

[00:59:45] So interested in making fun of me.

[00:59:46] A lot better if you knew music.

[00:59:47] You're just so interested

[00:59:48] in making fun of me

[00:59:49] that you didn't even hear

[00:59:50] what I was saying

[00:59:50] to the listener.

[00:59:51] You know,

[00:59:52] I know what your priorities are.

[00:59:53] I get it.

[00:59:54] Is there a Christmas episode

[00:59:55] of Big Tits on Sunset?

[01:00:00] Yeah, booby tinsel.

[01:00:02] What?

[01:00:02] Booby tinsel.

[01:00:03] Booby tinsel.

[01:00:04] I don't believe that's a product.

[01:00:05] It's like booby tassels

[01:00:06] but they're made of tinsel.

[01:00:07] I kind of got that

[01:00:09] but we can move on from that.

[01:00:12] We watched some trailers

[01:00:13] for some upcoming films

[01:00:15] that we are excited about.

[01:00:17] Yeah.

[01:00:17] Neither of them come out

[01:00:18] until 2025 though.

[01:00:20] I mean,

[01:00:21] well,

[01:00:21] we're like almost there.

[01:00:23] It was like a week from now.

[01:00:24] Oh,

[01:00:24] is that funny to you?

[01:00:26] Yeah.

[01:00:26] Is that funny to you,

[01:00:27] Chucklefuck?

[01:00:27] No,

[01:00:27] no,

[01:00:28] go on until 2025.

[01:00:29] It's like we watched the trailers

[01:00:30] that come out for two weeks.

[01:00:31] Oh,

[01:00:32] wow.

[01:00:32] We're always like six months ahead

[01:00:34] of films.

[01:00:34] Yeah,

[01:00:35] but these don't come out

[01:00:35] until like summer of 2025.

[01:00:37] That's fine.

[01:00:38] Most of the films

[01:00:39] we've been talking about

[01:00:40] the last two months

[01:00:40] come out in summer.

[01:00:41] Come out six months from now.

[01:00:41] But these are longer away.

[01:00:43] They're not though.

[01:00:44] They're not.

[01:00:45] Let's talk about the first one.

[01:00:46] Historically,

[01:00:47] Karate Kid Legends.

[01:00:49] It comes out in May.

[01:00:50] May 2025.

[01:00:51] That's blockbuster season,

[01:00:53] baby.

[01:00:53] There's no difference

[01:00:54] between this

[01:00:55] and any other trailer

[01:00:55] we talk about.

[01:00:56] It comes out six months from now.

[01:00:58] Yay.

[01:00:58] By the way,

[01:00:59] starring noted improv artist

[01:01:01] Ralph Macchio.

[01:01:02] Ralph Macchio,

[01:01:03] yes.

[01:01:03] He's back

[01:01:04] and it's hilarious.

[01:01:05] Ralph Macchio

[01:01:06] is the Karate Kid.

[01:01:07] He's doing a lot of improvising

[01:01:08] in this trailer for sure.

[01:01:09] Yep.

[01:01:09] No,

[01:01:10] this is bridging the world

[01:01:11] of the original

[01:01:12] Karate Kid franchise

[01:01:13] and the reboot franchise

[01:01:14] that Jackie Chan starred in

[01:01:16] with Will Smith's son,

[01:01:19] Jaden Smith.

[01:01:20] Miyagi.

[01:01:21] More like you,

[01:01:22] Yagi.

[01:01:22] And Cobra Kai.

[01:01:24] Well,

[01:01:24] so I'm not sure.

[01:01:25] Cobra Kai?

[01:01:26] More like Cobra.

[01:01:27] Oh my.

[01:01:28] I am curious.

[01:01:28] I'm Ralph Macchio.

[01:01:29] As far as I can tell,

[01:01:30] I don't think that there's going to be

[01:01:32] a lot of crossover

[01:01:33] or things you need to know

[01:01:36] from the Cobra Kai series

[01:01:37] to enjoy this movie.

[01:01:38] I think it's more so

[01:01:39] just capitalizing on the legacy

[01:01:41] of the Karate Kid franchise

[01:01:43] and trying to do something

[01:01:44] that brings them together

[01:01:46] and captures the interest

[01:01:48] at a time when people

[01:01:49] are into Cobra Kai still.

[01:01:50] It is in the same universe

[01:01:51] it says on the release

[01:01:52] as Cobra Kai.

[01:01:53] It has to be

[01:01:54] because Ralph Macchio is in it.

[01:01:55] Yeah,

[01:01:55] I know,

[01:01:56] but they're not just,

[01:01:56] yeah,

[01:01:56] suspending.

[01:01:57] I just don't think

[01:01:58] you're not going to have to

[01:01:59] watch Cobra Kai

[01:02:00] to enjoy Karate Kid Legends.

[01:02:02] For sure.

[01:02:02] I would never.

[01:02:03] This doesn't look half bad.

[01:02:05] I'm kind of intrigued.

[01:02:07] I didn't care for the Karate Kid reboot

[01:02:09] very much

[01:02:10] just because it didn't seem necessary

[01:02:12] and it just wasn't,

[01:02:13] it just wasn't that great.

[01:02:14] When I first heard about

[01:02:17] the reboot or whatever,

[01:02:18] I thought,

[01:02:19] oh,

[01:02:19] that's a kid's movie.

[01:02:20] Yeah.

[01:02:20] Now,

[01:02:21] I wonder,

[01:02:21] was the original,

[01:02:23] was that a kid's movie?

[01:02:24] The original is less of a kid's movie.

[01:02:25] It's more of just like

[01:02:26] a teen drama.

[01:02:28] I wonder marketing wise,

[01:02:29] were they trying to market it

[01:02:30] to teens and kids

[01:02:31] or was it more like

[01:02:32] just this is a drama that...

[01:02:34] I feel like that movies back then

[01:02:38] that...

[01:02:38] The marketing engine wasn't like that?

[01:02:39] Yeah,

[01:02:40] they weren't really gearing movies

[01:02:41] specifically towards kids

[01:02:42] unless they were just animated movies.

[01:02:44] Because this felt like

[01:02:45] when I remember when this came out

[01:02:46] I was like,

[01:02:46] oh,

[01:02:47] this definitely is made for kids

[01:02:48] is what I thought

[01:02:48] because Jaden Smith was what,

[01:02:50] like eight or nine at the time?

[01:02:52] He wasn't a teenager,

[01:02:53] was he?

[01:02:53] Yeah,

[01:02:53] I think it was like 10 or 11.

[01:02:55] But Daniel-san was in...

[01:02:56] He was in high school.

[01:02:58] I think that it's more so...

[01:03:00] The movie itself was like,

[01:03:02] it hit that spot of like,

[01:03:04] in the 80s they kind of made movies

[01:03:05] that like kids could enjoy

[01:03:07] with their parents

[01:03:07] but they weren't explicitly made for them.

[01:03:09] You know?

[01:03:09] Yeah.

[01:03:10] I know.

[01:03:10] It did fit that weird,

[01:03:12] like there was like

[01:03:13] more of a teen genre.

[01:03:15] Yeah.

[01:03:16] I did watch another film by the way.

[01:03:17] Oh.

[01:03:18] American Pie.

[01:03:20] Ah.

[01:03:20] All right.

[01:03:21] That's a teen film.

[01:03:23] Yeah.

[01:03:23] Yeah.

[01:03:23] But that genre of teen film

[01:03:25] you don't see right now

[01:03:27] all that much,

[01:03:28] do you?

[01:03:28] American Pie?

[01:03:29] No,

[01:03:30] just,

[01:03:30] I mean like in the 80s,

[01:03:31] 90s today.

[01:03:32] Oh yeah.

[01:03:33] You have them now

[01:03:34] but they are book smart and...

[01:03:36] More often than not,

[01:03:37] those kinds of movies

[01:03:38] are now coming of age movies

[01:03:39] but like,

[01:03:40] because they don't...

[01:03:40] No,

[01:03:40] but I'm not saying

[01:03:41] book smart,

[01:03:42] the title of the movie

[01:03:44] is book smart.

[01:03:45] Like that's the kind of movie...

[01:03:46] Oh,

[01:03:46] gotcha.

[01:03:46] Yeah,

[01:03:47] sorry.

[01:03:47] So those are the...

[01:03:48] Those are the teen movies

[01:03:49] of our age now.

[01:03:50] Yeah,

[01:03:50] yeah.

[01:03:50] Even Cockblockers,

[01:03:51] or Blockers,

[01:03:52] sorry,

[01:03:53] was it still,

[01:03:53] that's got more of an adult theme to it

[01:03:55] because they...

[01:03:55] Blockers is more along the lines

[01:03:56] of like an American Pie

[01:03:57] or super bad.

[01:03:58] But there is a mix there

[01:03:59] of adult...

[01:03:59] But what's the...

[01:04:00] Karate Kid,

[01:04:01] like we're talking about movies

[01:04:02] I guess that would be like

[01:04:04] Ferris Bueller's Day Off,

[01:04:05] you know?

[01:04:05] Yeah,

[01:04:05] exactly.

[01:04:06] Not made for kids

[01:04:07] but also not fully adults

[01:04:09] but adults that can enjoy them,

[01:04:10] right?

[01:04:11] Like,

[01:04:11] I don't know,

[01:04:11] it just seems in my head

[01:04:13] it's a subgenre

[01:04:14] that doesn't exist all that much.

[01:04:16] They used to make a lot more

[01:04:17] live action movies for kids

[01:04:18] that weren't explicitly like

[01:04:20] goofy family comedies

[01:04:21] like Alexander and the Terrible,

[01:04:23] Horrible,

[01:04:24] No Good,

[01:04:24] Very Bad Day

[01:04:25] and stuff like that,

[01:04:25] you know?

[01:04:26] Like,

[01:04:26] it seems like there's no more

[01:04:27] middle ground

[01:04:28] where family movies

[01:04:29] can be taken seriously.

[01:04:30] They have to be like

[01:04:32] goofy over the top movies.

[01:04:33] When I was a kid,

[01:04:33] you watched My Girl

[01:04:34] and you cried.

[01:04:35] No,

[01:04:35] for real.

[01:04:36] You know,

[01:04:36] even something like

[01:04:37] The Sandlot

[01:04:38] is,

[01:04:39] you know,

[01:04:39] not like your typical

[01:04:40] kids movie.

[01:04:41] Because these are

[01:04:43] My Girl and Sandlot,

[01:04:45] those are quote unquote

[01:04:47] real movies,

[01:04:47] right?

[01:04:48] They build a universe,

[01:04:49] they stay in it,

[01:04:50] nothing's too fantastical

[01:04:51] about it

[01:04:51] when the beast

[01:04:53] in Sandlot

[01:04:53] is not an actual

[01:04:54] monster dog,

[01:04:55] it's how they perceive

[01:04:56] the dog,

[01:04:56] right?

[01:04:57] So,

[01:04:57] they're really smart

[01:04:58] about making those movies

[01:05:00] because they're still

[01:05:01] accessible to adults.

[01:05:02] Yeah.

[01:05:02] Yeah.

[01:05:03] But I feel like we've lost

[01:05:05] like the kids sports movie too,

[01:05:07] you know?

[01:05:07] We don't get Mighty Ducks anymore,

[01:05:09] we don't get The Sandlot.

[01:05:10] I mean,

[01:05:10] there's so many of them,

[01:05:11] especially from the era

[01:05:12] that we all grew up in.

[01:05:14] It's a bummer.

[01:05:15] Yeah.

[01:05:16] Well,

[01:05:16] let's add on that sad note.

[01:05:19] What were we talking about

[01:05:19] just before that though?

[01:05:20] Just sad,

[01:05:21] before American Pie.

[01:05:21] Just being real sad.

[01:05:22] Well,

[01:05:22] that was Nate's movie

[01:05:23] that he saw.

[01:05:24] I don't know.

[01:05:24] He forgot about it,

[01:05:25] he wanted to tell us all about it.

[01:05:26] He forgot about something

[01:05:27] that we were talking about

[01:05:27] before that though.

[01:05:28] Oh,

[01:05:28] I was talking about Beer League

[01:05:29] and how...

[01:05:29] Oh no,

[01:05:30] we were doing trailer time,

[01:05:31] whoops.

[01:05:32] God damn.

[01:05:34] Oh,

[01:05:34] we were talking about

[01:05:35] Karate Kid Legends,

[01:05:35] that's how we got on that tangent.

[01:05:37] So Karate Kid Legends

[01:05:38] comes out in May.

[01:05:39] Because we're talking about

[01:05:39] that genre of...

[01:05:40] Yeah.

[01:05:41] This looks like it has

[01:05:42] every chance to be good.

[01:05:44] Yeah,

[01:05:44] the martial arts looks solid,

[01:05:46] you know?

[01:05:46] Yeah,

[01:05:47] anytime you do a legacy sequel

[01:05:48] like this,

[01:05:49] you've got an opportunity,

[01:05:50] you know,

[01:05:51] to make it nostalgic

[01:05:52] and hit all the right beats,

[01:05:53] but it can still be a good movie

[01:05:54] that stands on its own,

[01:05:55] but we'll see.

[01:05:56] It'll be interesting

[01:05:56] because it also has this,

[01:05:59] like my sons

[01:06:00] will want to go see this,

[01:06:01] or at least my youngest son will,

[01:06:03] because of Cobra Kai.

[01:06:04] He loves Cobra Kai.

[01:06:05] Nice.

[01:06:05] And so like,

[01:06:07] they're gonna have,

[01:06:08] I think,

[01:06:08] a following for this film

[01:06:09] because they don't have

[01:06:10] to reinvent the Karate Kid.

[01:06:12] Oh,

[01:06:12] is Pat Morita in it?

[01:06:15] What?

[01:06:17] Pat Morita's dead?

[01:06:18] Yeah.

[01:06:19] When did he die?

[01:06:20] I don't know.

[01:06:21] Has it been like a few years?

[01:06:23] It's been a while.

[01:06:24] Oh.

[01:06:25] Oh.

[01:06:26] Probably not gonna be making

[01:06:28] Collision Course 2

[01:06:28] with Jay Leno and him?

[01:06:31] Doubtful.

[01:06:31] Okay.

[01:06:32] Just put another.

[01:06:33] He died recently in 2005.

[01:06:35] Oh.

[01:06:37] Almost 20 years ago.

[01:06:39] Jesus.

[01:06:42] RIP Pat Morita.

[01:06:43] Wow,

[01:06:44] you suck.

[01:06:47] Yeah.

[01:06:48] Well,

[01:06:48] Karate Kid Legends

[01:06:49] is coming at you.

[01:06:50] Hey,

[01:06:50] what about Superman?

[01:06:51] What about Superman?

[01:06:53] We'll watch the trailer.

[01:06:54] Superman is back,

[01:06:55] guys.

[01:06:56] They hyped this trailer

[01:06:57] event up quite a bit

[01:06:58] and it racked up the views

[01:06:59] to over 250 million,

[01:07:01] I believe.

[01:07:02] Is it technically a teaser?

[01:07:03] So,

[01:07:04] the first trailer

[01:07:05] is always called a teaser

[01:07:06] but it is a two-minute trailer.

[01:07:08] Yeah.

[01:07:08] But they don't give

[01:07:09] a ton of plot in this.

[01:07:10] No,

[01:07:11] we have no idea

[01:07:12] what the story is

[01:07:12] other than just that

[01:07:13] Superman exists.

[01:07:14] Has a dog.

[01:07:15] And there's other characters

[01:07:16] in the DC universe

[01:07:17] and he has a dog named Crypto.

[01:07:18] Yes.

[01:07:18] There's a dog.

[01:07:19] I'm in.

[01:07:20] No,

[01:07:20] I think this looks cool.

[01:07:21] I wouldn't say

[01:07:22] that I'm excited yet.

[01:07:24] I have,

[01:07:24] there was no wow moment

[01:07:26] in this trailer for me.

[01:07:27] There's some cool shots.

[01:07:28] I think the shot of Superman

[01:07:29] fighting that big kaiju

[01:07:30] is cool.

[01:07:31] I think that there's

[01:07:32] some interesting elements

[01:07:33] in here.

[01:07:34] My biggest concern

[01:07:35] is that they're still

[01:07:37] trying to bite off

[01:07:38] more than they can chew

[01:07:38] by including all these

[01:07:40] other DC Comics characters

[01:07:41] to set up this universe.

[01:07:43] And I know James Gunn

[01:07:44] isn't going to spend

[01:07:45] a lot of time

[01:07:45] doing that stuff.

[01:07:46] Yeah,

[01:07:47] because he's not afraid

[01:07:48] to use somebody

[01:07:49] for a scene

[01:07:49] Yeah,

[01:07:49] exactly.

[01:07:50] But he knows,

[01:07:51] and he also knows

[01:07:52] that he needs to deliver

[01:07:53] a good first Superman movie.

[01:07:54] So like,

[01:07:55] I do trust him

[01:07:55] to a certain extent

[01:07:56] but that is my biggest concern.

[01:07:58] I do think this looks solid.

[01:07:59] I think the cast looks great.

[01:08:00] I like the visual style.

[01:08:02] I like that it feels

[01:08:03] like something different

[01:08:03] for Superman.

[01:08:04] That's the hard thing,

[01:08:06] right?

[01:08:06] Is,

[01:08:06] especially with DC fans

[01:08:08] because they are

[01:08:09] some of the worst fans

[01:08:10] in the universe.

[01:08:11] Yes.

[01:08:11] Specifically,

[01:08:12] I'm not kidding you.

[01:08:13] I'm not kidding you.

[01:08:14] Specifically those

[01:08:15] who love Zack Snyder's movies.

[01:08:16] They are some of the worst fans

[01:08:17] in the universe

[01:08:20] and they're not going

[01:08:21] to let James Gunn

[01:08:22] have a chance,

[01:08:23] right?

[01:08:24] Some of them will,

[01:08:25] I think,

[01:08:25] but others are still

[01:08:26] going to be hammering,

[01:08:27] you know,

[01:08:28] restore the Snyderverse.

[01:08:30] I don't want,

[01:08:31] I'm sorry,

[01:08:31] I don't want the Snyderverse

[01:08:32] anymore.

[01:08:33] So move on.

[01:08:33] Trust me,

[01:08:34] the box office proved

[01:08:35] that no one else did.

[01:08:35] Exactly.

[01:08:36] And so I'm ready

[01:08:36] to move on.

[01:08:37] I'm ready for reimagining.

[01:08:39] I'm ready for a new world

[01:08:41] to be brought forward

[01:08:42] that is exciting

[01:08:43] and I'm excited about this.

[01:08:44] In this Superman film,

[01:08:45] what will be

[01:08:47] the small alien race

[01:08:48] that takes over

[01:08:50] larger people

[01:08:51] and makes them

[01:08:52] do their bidding

[01:08:54] as imposters?

[01:08:55] Lemons.

[01:08:56] Okay.

[01:08:56] Good to know.

[01:08:57] Yeah.

[01:08:57] But you're right though.

[01:08:58] Can James Gunn

[01:08:59] write something different?

[01:09:01] Is it possible?

[01:09:04] No?

[01:09:05] Then what?

[01:09:06] Then that.

[01:09:06] The plot of Peacemaker,

[01:09:10] Suicide Squad,

[01:09:11] Zod,

[01:09:12] he just has this narrative

[01:09:14] that ever since he did,

[01:09:15] what was it,

[01:09:16] the horror movie?

[01:09:17] Teeth?

[01:09:17] Slither.

[01:09:18] Slither.

[01:09:19] He's had this fixation

[01:09:20] with these small

[01:09:21] amoeba type things

[01:09:22] that like attach to you

[01:09:23] and then change you

[01:09:24] as a person

[01:09:25] and it's pretty thematic

[01:09:27] for him.

[01:09:27] So do you think

[01:09:28] he'll incorporate

[01:09:28] any of that?

[01:09:29] I'm being serious.

[01:09:31] No.

[01:09:32] I think you're gonna

[01:09:32] eat your words.

[01:09:33] I think you're gonna see

[01:09:36] that Zod probably

[01:09:37] just controls

[01:09:37] a bunch of aliens.

[01:09:38] Zod's not in this movie.

[01:09:39] He could be.

[01:09:40] He's not.

[01:09:41] Rod?

[01:09:42] How about Rod?

[01:09:43] Rod Stewart.

[01:09:44] Is Rod Stewart

[01:09:45] in this film?

[01:09:46] Yeah, Rod Stewart's

[01:09:46] in this movie.

[01:09:47] You know who is

[01:09:48] in this movie?

[01:09:49] Beck Bennett.

[01:09:50] He is.

[01:09:51] He's got a big

[01:09:51] bushy mustache.

[01:09:55] There's a ton in this.

[01:09:56] I trust James Gunn.

[01:09:59] It's certainly,

[01:09:59] it's gonna be a big deal.

[01:10:01] People love Superman.

[01:10:02] Yeah.

[01:10:03] You know,

[01:10:04] there's already been

[01:10:05] some criticism

[01:10:05] of David Korn Sweat

[01:10:07] because again,

[01:10:09] you know,

[01:10:09] people-

[01:10:09] This is the first time

[01:10:10] that I've seen someone

[01:10:11] play Superman

[01:10:12] where their Clark Kent

[01:10:13] actually legitimately

[01:10:15] looks much different

[01:10:16] than Superman.

[01:10:16] And I love that.

[01:10:17] Yeah, I agree.

[01:10:18] Like,

[01:10:18] I hate the idea

[01:10:19] that like,

[01:10:20] oh,

[01:10:20] you put on glasses

[01:10:21] and now all of a sudden

[01:10:22] we can't tell it's you.

[01:10:23] Yeah.

[01:10:24] Right?

[01:10:24] But the hair

[01:10:24] is decidedly different.

[01:10:25] Yeah.

[01:10:26] Like,

[01:10:26] you could easily see

[01:10:27] people being fooled

[01:10:28] and thinking like,

[01:10:28] oh yeah,

[01:10:28] that's not Superman.

[01:10:30] No,

[01:10:30] I agree.

[01:10:31] So,

[01:10:31] I'm excited about this.

[01:10:32] I love another one.

[01:10:33] I love is

[01:10:34] Nicholas Holt.

[01:10:35] Love Nicholas Holt.

[01:10:37] My curiosity

[01:10:37] has been tickled.

[01:10:38] I'm not excited yet.

[01:10:40] No.

[01:10:40] I want,

[01:10:40] you know,

[01:10:41] I want to see more.

[01:10:41] Do you think there's times

[01:10:43] in this movie

[01:10:44] that he has to watch

[01:10:46] someone die

[01:10:47] as Clark Kent

[01:10:48] because he,

[01:10:49] too many people would see

[01:10:50] and that he would be Superman?

[01:10:52] I don't think,

[01:10:52] I don't think,

[01:10:53] I don't think Superman

[01:10:54] ever does that.

[01:10:54] I don't think he has to watch.

[01:10:56] You know,

[01:10:56] like,

[01:10:56] because you spoil your secret identity

[01:10:58] because there's a car accident

[01:10:59] that you can clearly see happening

[01:11:00] and he just,

[01:11:01] he just,

[01:11:01] he just,

[01:11:02] he just has to let it happen?

[01:11:03] No,

[01:11:03] because he's fast enough

[01:11:04] that he can just change

[01:11:05] into Superman

[01:11:06] and be there

[01:11:07] to stop it.

[01:11:09] Okay.

[01:11:09] Yeah,

[01:11:09] because he can literally

[01:11:10] leave in this,

[01:11:11] yeah,

[01:11:12] he's faster than a speeding bullet.

[01:11:13] Yeah,

[01:11:14] so,

[01:11:14] you wouldn't even see him leap.

[01:11:16] Yeah,

[01:11:16] you would just all of a sudden

[01:11:17] be next to you

[01:11:18] in full Supes outfit.

[01:11:19] I don't know,

[01:11:20] because like a lot of times

[01:11:20] he's like,

[01:11:21] he does this thing

[01:11:21] where he grabs at his collar

[01:11:24] and he exposes

[01:11:25] that he's wearing the Superman

[01:11:26] and he's not doing that very fast.

[01:11:27] I think a lot of people

[01:11:28] could see that.

[01:11:29] No,

[01:11:29] that's not for them.

[01:11:30] That's,

[01:11:31] that's not for them.

[01:11:32] Who's it for?

[01:11:32] For the audience.

[01:11:34] Oh,

[01:11:35] well,

[01:11:35] that doesn't sound very grounded.

[01:11:37] So this film comes out

[01:11:38] July 11th.

[01:11:40] This is Ben's oblivious

[01:11:41] movie character.

[01:11:42] Just,

[01:11:43] I'm so obsessed

[01:11:44] with pragmatism.

[01:11:45] Like,

[01:11:46] well,

[01:11:46] that doesn't make any sense.

[01:11:47] Why didn't you just tell him

[01:11:48] that he lied?

[01:11:49] Weird.

[01:11:50] And this is,

[01:11:51] spin the world backwards

[01:11:51] and go back in time

[01:11:52] and stop that from happening?

[01:11:54] Hmm.

[01:11:55] By the way,

[01:11:55] this is the first,

[01:11:56] is this the first

[01:11:57] of the James Gunn DCU?

[01:12:00] For movies it will be,

[01:12:02] but Creature Commandos

[01:12:03] is an animated series

[01:12:04] on Max right now

[01:12:05] that this establishes

[01:12:07] and takes place

[01:12:08] in James Gunn's DC Universe.

[01:12:09] Is this the Gunderverse?

[01:12:11] Sure.

[01:12:12] Thanks.

[01:12:14] We'll go with that.

[01:12:15] Okay.

[01:12:16] I like it.

[01:12:17] First Superman film

[01:12:18] in 12 years.

[01:12:20] Yeah.

[01:12:21] We'll see.

[01:12:22] I'm in.

[01:12:23] You're in?

[01:12:24] Yeah,

[01:12:24] I want to see this.

[01:12:25] Are you excited?

[01:12:26] I really am actually.

[01:12:27] Yeah.

[01:12:27] I trust you.

[01:12:28] As much shit as I'm talking about,

[01:12:29] Amiibo's taking over brains.

[01:12:30] What was your favorite thing

[01:12:31] in this trailer?

[01:12:33] Not the dog.

[01:12:34] I didn't really like that.

[01:12:35] I love the dog.

[01:12:36] I loved it.

[01:12:37] The CGI needs to be finished,

[01:12:38] but it still looked shitty.

[01:12:40] I like crypto.

[01:12:41] I loved crypto.

[01:12:42] Looks like a good boy.

[01:12:43] Looks like a good boy.

[01:12:44] Oh, yeah.

[01:12:45] I'm not saying

[01:12:46] he's not a good boy.

[01:12:47] Hey, you know what?

[01:12:48] What, am I an animal?

[01:12:49] You know who needs somebody

[01:12:49] to take you home

[01:12:50] after a hard night?

[01:12:51] Crypto?

[01:12:52] You do.

[01:12:53] Yeah, you're fucking drunk.

[01:12:55] What the fuck?

[01:12:58] Too real.

[01:13:00] Too real.

[01:13:02] That reminds me

[01:13:03] of the Scrubs episode.

[01:13:04] If you had a crypto,

[01:13:05] you'd call it all the time

[01:13:06] to drag you home.

[01:13:07] Scrubs episode.

[01:13:08] He just slowly drags him

[01:13:10] on the road.

[01:13:12] He just makes him suffer for it.

[01:13:15] My skin is just shaved off my face

[01:13:18] because my dog is dragging me

[01:13:20] across the pavement.

[01:13:20] He's not a super dog.

[01:13:22] He's just a regular dog.

[01:13:23] It's just a dirty train

[01:13:24] to drag him home.

[01:13:27] There's a scene

[01:13:27] in the Scrubs episode

[01:13:28] where they're playing basketball,

[01:13:29] pick up basketball

[01:13:30] and JD doesn't know

[01:13:31] how to talk shit.

[01:13:32] And so it cuts away

[01:13:33] and the guy's crying

[01:13:34] and he goes,

[01:13:35] you can't call his mom

[01:13:36] an alcoholic.

[01:13:36] That's a real thing.

[01:13:39] That's pretty good.

[01:13:40] I thought he was going

[01:13:41] to say a racial slur.

[01:13:42] No, just about his mom's

[01:13:44] alcoholism.

[01:13:46] Anyway, well, guys.

[01:13:48] Well, I love-

[01:13:49] I think we did it.

[01:13:49] You know, guys,

[01:13:50] I just want you to know

[01:13:51] that I love movies.

[01:13:52] Oh, God.

[01:13:52] And I love you.

[01:13:54] I just want to say, Nate,

[01:13:55] thanks so much

[01:13:56] for this whole year

[01:13:57] you've been manning

[01:13:58] the podcast equipment

[01:14:00] and making us sound

[01:14:01] as best that we can.

[01:14:02] So thank you so much.

[01:14:03] I love you very much.

[01:14:04] Thank you.

[01:14:04] And I don't know

[01:14:05] if you're looking at me

[01:14:06] with your cross eyes.

[01:14:08] Jesus Christ.

[01:14:10] And by the way,

[01:14:11] after all this stuff tonight,

[01:14:12] I've been angling

[01:14:13] everything at Brad.

[01:14:14] I've not said one thing

[01:14:15] about you.

[01:14:15] I've just avoided you

[01:14:17] and I've been like,

[01:14:18] because too tall.

[01:14:20] What are you expecting

[01:14:20] to do with them?

[01:14:21] Too tall.

[01:14:21] By the way,

[01:14:22] you know how guilty

[01:14:23] I felt after every one

[01:14:24] of these insults.

[01:14:26] I'm like,

[01:14:26] I feel so guilty.

[01:14:28] Skim on your teeth.

[01:14:30] The funny thing is,

[01:14:30] like,

[01:14:30] you can't avoid it,

[01:14:31] though,

[01:14:31] because you got some,

[01:14:32] like,

[01:14:32] some stupid cross-ass eyes.

[01:14:35] I do love this idea

[01:14:40] of just bringing insults

[01:14:42] to people that have

[01:14:42] nothing to do with them

[01:14:43] just to give them

[01:14:44] the complex.

[01:14:46] Man,

[01:14:47] it's the guy

[01:14:47] that always wears

[01:14:47] a bunched up shirt.

[01:14:49] What?

[01:14:50] Oh,

[01:14:50] hey,

[01:14:50] crooked tits.

[01:14:53] Crooked tits.

[01:14:54] But you say it to a guy.

[01:15:00] Oh,

[01:15:01] man.

[01:15:01] Fake meth mouth.

[01:15:04] Fake meth mouth.

[01:15:05] That should be

[01:15:05] your aim handle.

[01:15:07] Be right back,

[01:15:08] not doing meth.

[01:15:09] We got to bring back

[01:15:10] aim,

[01:15:10] I think.

[01:15:11] I think we're good.

[01:15:12] You don't think so?

[01:15:12] It's all right.

[01:15:13] That's what Blue Sky is now.

[01:15:14] We're missing out.

[01:15:15] That's not what Blue Sky is.

[01:15:16] You don't even know

[01:15:16] what Blue Sky is.

[01:15:18] Hey,

[01:15:19] do you guys think

[01:15:20] we'll do another episode

[01:15:21] before the end of the year?

[01:15:21] No.

[01:15:22] Yeah,

[01:15:22] of course.

[01:15:22] We were planning on it.

[01:15:23] I'm not.

[01:15:25] You were planning on it.

[01:15:26] You're planning on it,

[01:15:27] buddy.

[01:15:27] I got plans.

[01:15:28] No,

[01:15:28] you don't.

[01:15:30] By the way,

[01:15:31] we planned this last week.

[01:15:33] Beyonce,

[01:15:33] Britney gets here.

[01:15:34] He's not going to be as,

[01:15:35] Oh,

[01:15:35] absolutely.

[01:15:36] He's going to be like,

[01:15:37] guys,

[01:15:37] I got stuff to do.

[01:15:39] I'll go buzz again.

[01:15:40] I'll go buzz again.

[01:15:42] I got the computer.

[01:15:43] Good job.

[01:15:43] I got my laptop computer.

[01:15:45] Good job.

[01:15:46] Time for the internet.

[01:15:47] And then I go see my girlfriend

[01:15:48] Britney.

[01:15:49] Britney,

[01:15:49] my fiance says I can't.

[01:15:51] With my pepperoni nibbles.

[01:15:54] Oh,

[01:15:54] strong man.

[01:15:56] What's Nate doing?

[01:15:58] He's doing a Homestar Runner character.

[01:16:00] Strong man.

[01:16:02] You have a gout.

[01:16:03] I do.

[01:16:04] Come on.

[01:16:04] This is real things.

[01:16:05] This is real.

[01:16:06] Damn.

[01:16:07] Again,

[01:16:08] guys,

[01:16:08] that's fucking hard.

[01:16:08] Really?

[01:16:09] All I'm saying,

[01:16:10] hey,

[01:16:10] you got a high LDL.

[01:16:12] As far as I know,

[01:16:13] we're going to be back one more time before the end of the year.

[01:16:16] I mean,

[01:16:16] maybe my health is going to kill me before then.

[01:16:19] Well,

[01:16:20] just take care of yourself then.

[01:16:21] Shit bag.

[01:16:22] I mean,

[01:16:22] you did call him chubby.

[01:16:27] Bye everybody.

[01:16:28] Bye.

[01:16:34] Bye.

[01:16:35] Nah,

[01:16:35] cheat saying,

[01:16:36] eh?

[01:16:36] żeby to be happy.

[01:16:37] Bye.

[01:16:37] Bye.

[01:16:37] Bye.

[01:16:37] Bye.

[01:16:37] Thank you.
