Episode 227 - Fats and the Pastor

Ben, Brad, and Nate are on a pretty good run. Well, a brisk walk, anyway. It's about time everyone watched their assignments and had a good time doing so. Ben got abducted by aliens (No One Will Save You) and argued with his girlfriend about how to watch movies, Nate went to the future and tried to capture Simon Phoenix (Demolition Man), and Brad broke out of prison and got revenge (The Count of Monte Cristo). Besides that, Brad is really the only one taking the art of movies (and TV) seriously, as you'll hear in this episode. But the good news is that we talk about the trailers for A Complete Unknown (CHALAMET GOES ELECTRIC!) and Moana 2 (HEI HEI IS BAY BAY).

Plus, Nate brought a game to complete the episode! Amazing! Let's make like an old breast implant and get popping!

[00:00:16] Hey everybody, it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself. My name is Ben Conowitz and with me as always is the screwdriver to my jungle juice, Bradford Omen.

[00:00:27] Hey that's me! Citrus and vodka!

[00:00:31] And the white Zinfandel to my jungle juice, Nate Lauchs.

[00:00:35] Oh hello Bradford.

[00:00:38] That's classy.

[00:00:38] That's classic Zinfandel. That's a classy Zinfandel talking.

[00:00:42] And especially when you compare it to jungle juice, that's like the dickhead's water.

[00:00:46] Jungle juice gets the party started, Brad. And that's why, and you're a screwdriver because you're a basic bitch.

[00:00:50] What can I say? I like a good flavorful vodka and delicious juice.

[00:00:54] What is your drink of choice when you go to the bar? Like for the first time you're gonna go there, you don't know the quality of their drinks, what are you gonna get?

[00:01:02] And how many fingers?

[00:01:04] That's none of your business. I'll usually get a Jack and Coke from any bar. I think testing the quality of the bar is I'll ask for a white Russian.

[00:01:14] Yeah, if you're gonna like get a drink to the, hey, does this bartender know what they're doing?

[00:01:18] Yeah. No, because Brad's like, I want milk in my drink.

[00:01:20] Exactly! That's the first thing I thought.

[00:01:22] I was like, hey bartender, what drinks with milk in them can you make?

[00:01:26] Hey, I'd like my stomach to be messed up. Can you put some milk in there please?

[00:01:31] Oh yeah, I'd like a nice milky mess please.

[00:01:33] Hey, can you pour some grenadine and vodka in some cottage cheese? I'd really just like to get that with a spoon all night.

[00:01:39] Actually, I'm not like you, I like cottage cheese.

[00:01:40] No, cottage cheese is gross. You like cottage cheese.

[00:01:42] Cottage cheese is amazing. You guys, it's my favorite food, you can go fuck yourself.

[00:01:45] It's disgusting.

[00:01:45] It's amazing. And if you put, if you're one of those people, though, sorry, Evelini is here and Ashley is here, they're at the peanut gallery tonight.

[00:01:52] So I, but I'm saying this and I'm getting like thumbs up and thumbs down from them. But I will say, this might, like she gave me a thumbs up Evelini about cottage cheese.

[00:01:59] However, I'm gonna maybe ruin it here because if you're one of those people that put something in your cottage cheese, like salt and pepper or pineapple, you can go fuck yourself.

[00:02:07] It's just, it's just cottage cheese. It's just by itself.

[00:02:10] I lost Evelini.

[00:02:11] I lost Evelini, I saw her. You can talk, say, is that what, you put both of those?

[00:02:16] Okay, you can have it plain or with. Okay, you know what? We're best friends again. It's totally fine.

[00:02:21] Cottage cheese is gross. But yes, I do love a good milky cocktail and that's like a few times Brad brings the sponsor on and I want to throw up.

[00:02:33] He's never really said a sentence that made me want to vomit, but like, I love a good milky cocktail.

[00:02:38] I do feel like that is our new motto. Go flick yourself the milky cocktail of podcasts.

[00:02:44] Put this milky cocktail in your ears.

[00:02:46] Absolutely.

[00:02:46] Oh!

[00:02:48] But no, so yeah, a white Russian is how I'll test them. We'll see how good they are at actually making a nice drink.

[00:02:52] If you're not disgusting and you want to test a bar, an old fashioned is usually the thing to test a bar on.

[00:02:59] I do love old fashions.

[00:03:00] Old fashioned or Manhattan is usually gonna be where I'm gonna try it first.

[00:03:04] And that's just cause we're whiskey men.

[00:03:06] Yeah.

[00:03:08] Got some hair on my chest.

[00:03:09] Brad?

[00:03:10] If we had a reality show it'd be called the Whiskey Men.

[00:03:12] No it would not.

[00:03:13] It'd be called the 100.

[00:03:15] Because Brad and Nate and I standing next to each other looks like the number 100.

[00:03:20] Or it'd be called Fats and the Pastor.

[00:03:23] Fats and the Pastor!

[00:03:24] And you think it's two people, but it's three.

[00:03:28] Like Jake and the Fat Men.

[00:03:31] Nate and the Fat Men.

[00:03:34] Oh shit.

[00:03:36] Brad went to a trunk or treat event tonight because it is the spooky dookie season.

[00:03:40] Yeah, that's true.

[00:03:41] It's spooky dookie season.

[00:03:43] Well yeah, if you take a poop in the month of October you call a spooky dookie.

[00:03:46] So how was it?

[00:03:48] How was it?

[00:03:48] Did you scare some children?

[00:03:49] No, I...

[00:03:50] Why do you assume my cousin was scary?

[00:03:52] I mean no, just like the other 364 days a year he means.

[00:03:56] Oh, that's...

[00:03:59] No, it was...

[00:04:01] The weather was trash.

[00:04:03] It was so cold that you went home and you actually did...

[00:04:05] You don't...

[00:04:05] You're not a big drinker honestly.

[00:04:07] You're really not.

[00:04:07] Yeah.

[00:04:07] But you went home and you said to me like, man I poured myself two fingers of whiskey

[00:04:11] to warm myself up.

[00:04:11] Yeah, because I knew I needed to warm up right away.

[00:04:13] So then he held his fingers up horizontally like you do because that's what fingers are

[00:04:17] and I said, oh I also used two fingers but then I put them in vertically and it fills

[00:04:22] the glass because I am me.

[00:04:24] Now Brad, can I ask you a quick question?

[00:04:27] You can do whatever you want all day buddy.

[00:04:28] What?

[00:04:29] What's your favorite spooky dookie memory?

[00:04:31] My favorite spooky dookie memory?

[00:04:33] Yeah.

[00:04:34] When I took a scary shit?

[00:04:35] Was it diarrhea?

[00:04:38] Uh, I mean there's plenty of those rough stories for sure.

[00:04:41] You guys have never seen a ghost have you?

[00:04:43] You can't love milk as much as I do.

[00:04:45] Hold on a second, did you just say, did you just say, hold on, you guys have never seen

[00:04:50] a ghost have you?

[00:04:51] Right, we're not talking about seeing ghosts right?

[00:04:53] I gotta know what I'm dealing with.

[00:04:55] I mean I've never seen a ghost.

[00:04:56] I've never seen a ghost.

[00:04:58] I mean I've heard some weird noises honestly in this house and this is a modular that was

[00:05:02] built two years ago so it's not like-

[00:05:04] It is haunted castle.

[00:05:06] Spooky sound.

[00:05:07] Yeah, it's not like, oh I can't believe who died here back in the day.

[00:05:10] Hey Ben, that is a house settling.

[00:05:12] Exactly.

[00:05:12] Exactly.

[00:05:12] But I will say, I was telling Ashley this, like whatever, right before her and the boys

[00:05:17] moved in, dead in the middle of the night, 2am, large crash.

[00:05:21] Like okay, something fell off a shelf, I'm gonna walk out into my living room and I'm

[00:05:25] gonna see this.

[00:05:26] It's pitch black, 2am.

[00:05:28] I scoured the house, nothing.

[00:05:30] I opened everything.

[00:05:30] And again, it's a modular, there's not a lot of storage space so every door is really accessible.

[00:05:34] You open the door, you're not going in, you're just looking because that's all the space there

[00:05:38] is.

[00:05:38] I checked absolutely everything and could never find something that fell.

[00:05:41] Did you lock your bedroom door?

[00:05:43] I did.

[00:05:43] I locked my bedroom door and I was alone.

[00:05:44] I'm 330 pounds, I'm 6'2".

[00:05:47] It's not, you know, I got about five seconds of fighting me but it's gonna be a hard fight

[00:05:51] for that five seconds.

[00:05:52] I still locked my door and I put my feet under the covers.

[00:05:55] Of course you do.

[00:05:56] I still tuck my covers in, I tuck my sheet in because I don't know for sure there's not

[00:06:02] monsters underneath.

[00:06:03] I'm a stomach sleeper because of that.

[00:06:05] I'm like a turtle.

[00:06:06] Like if you hit the back, it's fine.

[00:06:08] My soft underbelly, I don't think it's scritched up.

[00:06:11] See I tuck my blanket under my feet but then I also gotta put the other foot out because

[00:06:15] I gotta regulate my body temperature.

[00:06:16] Exactly, dude.

[00:06:18] 100%.

[00:06:18] That's risky.

[00:06:19] That's risky.

[00:06:20] Does it hang over?

[00:06:21] It does, doesn't it?

[00:06:22] Does it hang over the bed a little bit?

[00:06:23] Yes, absolutely.

[00:06:24] Little monsters grabbing it though?

[00:06:25] That's scary.

[00:06:26] Yeah.

[00:06:27] It's alright.

[00:06:29] Who legitimately and earnestly wrote a check for this week's episode?

[00:06:33] Somebody's gotta be paying these bills.

[00:06:35] Pay the matches on.

[00:06:38] What's your favorite soda flavor?

[00:06:42] This seems like a very lazy version of the question.

[00:06:44] Normally you're a little bit more inventive than this.

[00:06:46] Yeah.

[00:06:47] Can you hear what I'm trying?

[00:06:48] No, I want to lead in.

[00:06:49] Wait, what's your favorite autumnal memory?

[00:06:51] No, but I'm leaning into a more specific question.

[00:06:55] Alright, my favorite soda flavor?

[00:06:57] Yeah.

[00:06:57] Root beer.

[00:06:58] That's your favorite soda flavor?

[00:06:59] Yes.

[00:07:00] What about, like what's the strangest soda you've ever tasted?

[00:07:04] The strangest soda I've ever tasted?

[00:07:06] Yeah.

[00:07:06] I think that I was at one of those like rocket shops, the rocket fish shops that you can buy

[00:07:10] all those things.

[00:07:10] And I think that I had a mango habanero soda.

[00:07:14] Ugh.

[00:07:15] It was hard to drink.

[00:07:16] Yeah, I wouldn't even want to touch that with a 10 foot pole.

[00:07:20] Okay.

[00:07:21] That sounds nasty.

[00:07:22] It was, but I drank it.

[00:07:23] Was it hot?

[00:07:24] You drank the whole thing?

[00:07:25] No, I mean I drank it.

[00:07:26] Oh, you took a sip.

[00:07:27] Yeah, I tried it.

[00:07:27] Okay, I was gonna say you took a whole bottle of that.

[00:07:28] Like what's wrong with your body?

[00:07:30] Okay.

[00:07:31] Well, okay.

[00:07:33] Evergreen question.

[00:07:34] Hold on.

[00:07:34] You said that?

[00:07:35] Ashley's sitting right next to me and I hope the listener heard.

[00:07:38] Hold on.

[00:07:38] What's wrong with your body and juice?

[00:07:41] Like there's a lot.

[00:07:42] There's a lot.

[00:07:46] Like, I hope that they caught that too.

[00:07:49] Like you don't know, Ben.

[00:07:51] All right, you guys are gonna be excited about this.

[00:07:53] Oh boy.

[00:07:53] All right, because I got something that I'm gonna, I got four cups down here.

[00:07:57] All right, two fingers.

[00:07:58] And I'm ready to give you guys a little taste, a taste of something delicious.

[00:08:03] Hold on, you said that you had a bad, you said it was root beer and then you were gonna

[00:08:07] tell you another question.

[00:08:08] I did.

[00:08:09] What was the weirdest soda you ever, the flavor you ever had?

[00:08:12] Oh, that's not right.

[00:08:13] Okay.

[00:08:14] I popped this bottle open, I don't know if you heard that sweet hiss of soda.

[00:08:18] Yeah, you're gonna leave a bottle cap in my basement until I sell the place.

[00:08:20] Oh, I'm gonna leave more than a bottle cap here.

[00:08:24] Spooky dookie?

[00:08:24] I'm gonna leave a spooky dookie in your hookie.

[00:08:28] Okay.

[00:08:29] That's slang for house.

[00:08:31] All right, listeners, I'm looking at this.

[00:08:33] I'm looking at a Corona.

[00:08:34] Okay.

[00:08:35] He's pouring a Corona.

[00:08:36] Ben, come over.

[00:08:37] Actually, will you grab that please?

[00:08:38] Grab this, pass it down.

[00:08:39] Don't spill.

[00:08:40] It's got the color of a...

[00:08:42] Corona.

[00:08:43] We gotta pass that to Nate.

[00:08:45] Oh, here's what you're doing.

[00:08:45] Poorly vitamined urine.

[00:08:48] This is, well, that's a Ben pee right there.

[00:08:52] Ashley, this is for Ben.

[00:08:57] Obviously, you guys can get down on this too if you guys wanna try.

[00:09:00] Ev?

[00:09:00] Yeah, Evelyn, I'm gonna give you a little bit of this.

[00:09:02] Oh, wow.

[00:09:03] That smells like pure...

[00:09:05] Just like...

[00:09:05] That's tree sap.

[00:09:07] Oh.

[00:09:08] Oh, what is this?

[00:09:10] What is this sponsor of ours?

[00:09:12] What is this sponsor?

[00:09:14] Oh, this is chocolate of something.

[00:09:15] This is a chocolate something.

[00:09:17] Is it?

[00:09:18] Do you guys feel the chocolate?

[00:09:19] Chocolate rain.

[00:09:23] I haven't had this yet.

[00:09:24] Hold on.

[00:09:25] What, chocolate rain?

[00:09:26] Did you say it's good of?

[00:09:28] Oh.

[00:09:29] I don't know.

[00:09:30] You've got a Brazilian palate.

[00:09:31] I don't know if I can trust it.

[00:09:33] I'm surprised by this flavor, actually.

[00:09:35] I wasn't expecting this to taste this good.

[00:09:36] I know.

[00:09:37] The smell is worse than the taste.

[00:09:38] It tastes better.

[00:09:39] I will agree.

[00:09:39] It smells extremely saccharine.

[00:09:41] It smells sickeningly sweet.

[00:09:43] Holy crap.

[00:09:44] But then the taste is very palatable, so...

[00:09:46] Yeah, the taste actually isn't bad.

[00:09:47] It's almost like a...

[00:09:48] It tastes kind of like a butterscotch soda.

[00:09:50] Is it like a chocolate?

[00:09:53] It's s'mores.

[00:09:54] Oh.

[00:09:55] From Jones soda.

[00:09:56] S'mores flavored soda.

[00:09:58] I do like Jones.

[00:09:59] Jones makes a good soda.

[00:10:00] Jones does make a good soda.

[00:10:01] But it doesn't taste like s'mores, though.

[00:10:03] No, there's definitely...

[00:10:04] I can see what they're trying to get, like a marshmallow-y.

[00:10:06] A slight toasted marshmallow flavor to it.

[00:10:08] Yeah, but clearly...

[00:10:09] It smells more like it.

[00:10:10] But Nate got the chocolate, though.

[00:10:11] He tasted chocolate.

[00:10:11] Yeah.

[00:10:12] But I will tell you what, we didn't taste Graham Cracker.

[00:10:15] I mean, I did say it has kind of a butterscotch flavor, which is pretty close, but...

[00:10:18] Butterscotch and honey-made...

[00:10:22] No?

[00:10:23] A little bit.

[00:10:24] You know what?

[00:10:24] I rescind that remark.

[00:10:26] Yeah.

[00:10:26] But it's definitely not...

[00:10:27] I was expecting this to be worse, honestly.

[00:10:29] But it's not bad.

[00:10:30] I'm not upset with it.

[00:10:32] What?

[00:10:32] Do you want it?

[00:10:35] Nice little slurp there.

[00:10:37] Yeah.

[00:10:38] Uh, Nate.

[00:10:40] Yeah.

[00:10:41] What's the last movie you saw?

[00:10:44] Well, I'm gonna confess.

[00:10:45] I had a very busy week.

[00:10:46] I've been working a lot, and...

[00:10:48] Oh, that sounds like the start of an excuse.

[00:10:50] No, I did see one movie, and it was the movie I was assigned.

[00:10:52] Just one movie again?

[00:10:54] Yeah, I know.

[00:10:54] I know, guys.

[00:10:55] Okay, but can we say...

[00:10:56] Hey, hey, hey.

[00:10:58] Let me say something.

[00:10:59] You are a very busy person.

[00:11:02] Yeah, I got it.

[00:11:02] I got it.

[00:11:03] Things are going...

[00:11:04] And you watched the movie that was assigned to you.

[00:11:05] I did.

[00:11:06] So everything that was required of him has been done, Brad.

[00:11:08] What's your problem?

[00:11:09] I was going...

[00:11:10] Also, he brought his girlfriend, who we have never met.

[00:11:13] Yes.

[00:11:13] And she is just as lovely as I always thought she would be, and may I say, even better in

[00:11:19] person?

[00:11:21] Is she giving you a job later?

[00:11:23] Okay.

[00:11:24] I am hoping that she hires me.

[00:11:26] I am so tired.

[00:11:28] I am so tired of being a small business owner.

[00:11:30] Okay, but here's the thing.

[00:11:32] I was going to see another film.

[00:11:34] Oh!

[00:11:35] That is true.

[00:11:35] I was on my way to the theater to see a film.

[00:11:38] That is true.

[00:11:39] You fucked yourself here.

[00:11:40] My friend Brad.

[00:11:41] Yeah.

[00:11:41] Partially...

[00:11:42] Said, let's go see.

[00:11:43] It's pretty much my fault.

[00:11:44] And I was on my way.

[00:11:44] I'm so sorry.

[00:11:45] Is that the best we're going to get?

[00:11:47] It's pretty much my fault?

[00:11:48] In what way is this...

[00:11:50] And I'm not...

[00:11:50] This is not a bit.

[00:11:51] Tell me organically, in what way is this literally anyone else's fault?

[00:11:56] Like, what...

[00:11:57] How is this not exactly 100% your fault?

[00:12:00] It is my fault, however...

[00:12:02] What's the however?

[00:12:04] What's the however?

[00:12:05] No, no, no.

[00:12:07] Stop.

[00:12:07] However.

[00:12:08] As your therapist and friend, just stop there.

[00:12:11] It was your fault.

[00:12:12] This is your problem, right?

[00:12:13] You keep going.

[00:12:14] It is my fault.

[00:12:15] Period.

[00:12:16] And then wait for somebody else to fucking say something.

[00:12:18] But instead you're like, it was my fault.

[00:12:20] If I do that, no one's going to say anything.

[00:12:24] You guys also could have checked the times.

[00:12:26] Oh my God.

[00:12:28] Brad said, 9.30 AM, Cinemark, Valparaiso, Indiana, go Crusaders.

[00:12:33] Let's get in there and let's watch a movie.

[00:12:37] And turns out, no 9.30 showing of the movie Saturday night.

[00:12:40] It did not end up playing.

[00:12:41] It was at Cinemark in Mishawaka.

[00:12:43] And where were you when you found this information out of me?

[00:12:45] I was on my drive to the theater.

[00:12:47] I was in Westville, Indiana.

[00:12:48] But thankfully only he was in Westville.

[00:12:50] Yeah, he was 15 minutes from his home.

[00:12:51] Ben, let me ask you.

[00:12:52] Where were you?

[00:12:53] I was in...

[00:12:54] You said you were moving pinball machines.

[00:12:56] I was moving pinball machines to the blue chip casino, the lovely blue chip casino in

[00:12:59] Michigan City, Indiana.

[00:13:00] And that's not where you were supposed to be, right?

[00:13:01] That's not where you were supposed to be, right?

[00:13:02] That's not where you rented pinballs from Full Tilt Arcade and Pinball located in La Porta,

[00:13:06] Indiana.

[00:13:06] They rented pinballs for their wedding.

[00:13:08] They had a spooky themed wedding.

[00:13:10] That's fun.

[00:13:12] Spooky dooky?

[00:13:13] No, no.

[00:13:14] Because it was a great wedding.

[00:13:15] It was not shitty.

[00:13:16] We brought over Elvira and Iron Maiden.

[00:13:19] Mmm.

[00:13:20] And we were going to bring over Halloween, but it was broken.

[00:13:23] Is the Foo Fighters Halloween themed?

[00:13:25] No, it's a sci-fi theme.

[00:13:26] It's a sci-fi theme.

[00:13:27] So we also brought over...

[00:13:30] Here's the funny part.

[00:13:31] We accidentally brought over Dale Jr.

[00:13:34] The Dale Jr. Earnhardt, like the racing game.

[00:13:36] Oh, that's scary.

[00:13:37] We accidentally did.

[00:13:38] Well, depending on the wedding.

[00:13:41] But yeah, so we were like, oh, sorry about that.

[00:13:43] But no, we ended up bringing over Guns N' Roses.

[00:13:45] That's not really scary, but at least it's a fun band one.

[00:13:48] No, they were very happy, obviously.

[00:13:50] But, but, but, but, I made the mistake.

[00:13:52] And so I had to bring over Iron Maiden and Elvira on Saturday.

[00:13:55] So by myself, unloading two pinball machines and getting them into a casino on the second floor.

[00:13:59] How do you get them in by yourself?

[00:14:00] It was not easy.

[00:14:02] I'm not going to joke to you.

[00:14:03] I'm not going to joke to you.

[00:14:03] This part of the podcast is going down.

[00:14:06] He just said he's not joking.

[00:14:08] Okay.

[00:14:08] But now he's getting...

[00:14:09] You're getting the specifics of moving pinball machines now?

[00:14:12] Like we love the arcade, but come on, I'm going to shoot myself in the foot.

[00:14:15] I just want to know how somebody moves...

[00:14:17] There is a specific cart made for pinballs.

[00:14:18] Oh.

[00:14:18] You put it underneath, you jack it up with your foot.

[00:14:20] Okay.

[00:14:20] But you have to be, you have to...

[00:14:21] Thank God I'm, we just talked about, I'm a huge, huge fat guy.

[00:14:25] So like putting my foot down on it, it just, it's, it's leverage.

[00:14:28] You have to literally...

[00:14:28] So Oscar is our assistant manager at the arcade.

[00:14:31] He's 20 years old, 19 years old.

[00:14:33] Not the grouch.

[00:14:34] No.

[00:14:34] But he's probably 170 pounds, 160 pounds soaking wet.

[00:14:38] He struggles to like step down on it to raise a pinball machine because those are 250,

[00:14:42] 300 pounds.

[00:14:43] Yeah.

[00:14:43] And so you put it on the pinball cart and you roll it, which is fine, but it was in the

[00:14:47] back of a, like a Penske truck with a lift gate and I've got one hand on the lift gate

[00:14:51] button pushing it down while I'm holding this thing that's on wheels to try to not like make

[00:14:55] it roll off.

[00:14:55] I got one hand on the lift gate and the other hand is holding on to the thing.

[00:15:02] That pinball machine.

[00:15:04] Anyway, it got done, but I couldn't go to the movie.

[00:15:07] Yeah.

[00:15:08] It's a good thing he couldn't though, because as we established, I had the wrong time anyway.

[00:15:12] Uh, so no one except me got to see Saturday night for this podcast.

[00:15:17] Nate, what's your, what, what movie did you watch?

[00:15:19] And who assigned it to you?

[00:15:20] I was assigned a film by my buddy, Ben Garnowitz, uh, called Demolition Man.

[00:15:26] Don't have to say it like that.

[00:15:27] It was a movie from 1993.

[00:15:29] You know, you have to say it like that.

[00:15:32] Ben Garnowitz, I mean, come on, man.

[00:15:33] Ooh.

[00:15:34] It's like where you gotta make the vowels bounce too.

[00:15:36] I know, but I'm a Tartillist.

[00:15:38] Yeah, I don't like that.

[00:15:39] No, but that's how you like do the, the beginning, right?

[00:15:41] Yeah, I really don't like that.

[00:15:45] Hey friends!

[00:15:46] Yeah, like the morning shock jog.

[00:15:48] Hi, welcome to Burrito and Beans!

[00:15:51] Burrito and Beans?

[00:15:53] Welcome to the, welcome to the extremely racist podcast I have called Burrito and Beans?

[00:15:57] First of all, it was extremely racist if it would be called Burrito and Beans.

[00:16:00] Burrito and Beans.

[00:16:01] Now that sounds like me.

[00:16:03] Yeah, exactly.

[00:16:04] Damn it!

[00:16:04] I can't even walk into this.

[00:16:06] Uh, so...

[00:16:07] If I had a pass to do it, I would do the accent, but I don't.

[00:16:10] So what movie did Ben Garnowitz give you?

[00:16:12] Come on, man.

[00:16:14] Now you're just being shitty.

[00:16:16] Ben Garnowitz, come on.

[00:16:19] I really wanna do it.

[00:16:22] Assholes.

[00:16:23] All right, I saw a film made in 1993, set in 1996.

[00:16:30] Uh, starring...

[00:16:32] Set in 1996?

[00:16:33] Well, initially.

[00:16:34] Uh, so these characters...

[00:16:36] Okay.

[00:16:36] I was like, well...

[00:16:37] It's a time travel film.

[00:16:38] Yep.

[00:16:38] Um, and so this is a film called Demolition Man.

[00:16:42] It stars Sylvester Sloan, Wesley Snipes, Sandra Bullock, America's Sweetheart, and...

[00:16:48] Dennis Leary, America's Sweetheart, Dennis Leary.

[00:16:50] Who is America's other sweetheart as well.

[00:16:53] And Nigel Hawthorne, Britain's...

[00:16:56] America's Sweetheart.

[00:16:58] And so this film, um, is...

[00:17:00] So, let me ask you a couple questions here.

[00:17:02] Yeah.

[00:17:03] Demolition Man is an all-time, like, at least people know of it.

[00:17:07] Do you love this film?

[00:17:08] I do.

[00:17:09] I really do.

[00:17:10] Uh, I grew up on this film, and that's why.

[00:17:11] I was 13 when I saw it, maybe 12.

[00:17:14] Um, this movie, at least in the zeitgeist, people do know what this is.

[00:17:18] So this isn't some underrated weird film.

[00:17:20] This was like an A-list film at the time that came out.

[00:17:23] What did you know about this film going into it?

[00:17:26] That it existed.

[00:17:27] I knew it existed.

[00:17:28] Did you have any...

[00:17:29] Did you know any of the jokes in it?

[00:17:31] Did you know that any was, like, the premise at all?

[00:17:33] No, no, no, no.

[00:17:33] I didn't know any of it.

[00:17:34] Okay.

[00:17:35] So I knew it was kind of futuristic.

[00:17:37] Okay.

[00:17:38] Um, I knew that.

[00:17:39] But I didn't know the time travel element of it.

[00:17:41] I didn't know any of the premise.

[00:17:43] Sure, sure.

[00:17:44] Um...

[00:17:45] I see, and I love the idea that you could watch this through new eyes.

[00:17:48] Like, it's just funny to think about that.

[00:17:50] And so the whole idea is you've got this criminal and this police, FBI, what is this?

[00:17:59] I mean, his name's John Spartan and he is a police officer in the future.

[00:18:03] A police officer.

[00:18:03] I didn't know if he was, like, FBI or something.

[00:18:05] No, police officer.

[00:18:06] It's a police officer who are cryogenically frozen in 1996.

[00:18:09] They wake up, um, in the 2030s.

[00:18:13] Simon Phoenix is Wesley Snipes' character.

[00:18:15] Yeah.

[00:18:16] I don't know if people care about the names, but, um...

[00:18:19] No, I mean, that's one of the cooler names in...

[00:18:21] I was gonna say, it's really badass.

[00:18:22] Simon Phoenix is a great villain.

[00:18:24] Yeah, that's a badass.

[00:18:26] In the 2030s, they wake up, and guess what?

[00:18:30] Kamala Harris is president.

[00:18:32] And there's no more crime.

[00:18:34] Suck it, losers!

[00:18:36] We haven't had a...

[00:18:37] Do you remember what they call a homicide in the future in this movie?

[00:18:43] What?

[00:18:43] Murder, death, kill.

[00:18:44] A murder, death, kill.

[00:18:45] This...

[00:18:46] I'm struggling to find out that you actually watched the movie.

[00:18:49] Because you don't remember the names.

[00:18:51] You don't remember the murder, death, kill.

[00:18:52] I did watch this movie after you told me to watch it, and I've had a lot of life since then.

[00:18:56] Oh, damn.

[00:18:57] Brutal.

[00:18:58] Ouch.

[00:18:58] And you know, as well as I do, that I don't pause movies when I go pee.

[00:19:02] Oh, here we go.

[00:19:03] Oh, great.

[00:19:04] Here comes old pee pants.

[00:19:05] Shut up, Ashley.

[00:19:06] By the way.

[00:19:07] Ashley's over here pumping her fist.

[00:19:08] I'm like, shut up, Ashley.

[00:19:09] Hey, Ashley, real quick.

[00:19:10] Okay.

[00:19:11] I should not have called you down here for this.

[00:19:13] Real quick, Ashley.

[00:19:14] Oh, no.

[00:19:15] Does it drive you nuts sometimes when you get up and you're just like, I'm gonna go to

[00:19:18] the bathroom, or I'm gonna go wash my hands in the sink, and Ben's always like,

[00:19:21] let me pause it.

[00:19:23] And then he gets mad because he pauses the film all the time.

[00:19:25] He's like, go ahead, just watch it.

[00:19:26] It's fine.

[00:19:27] Does that ever happen to you?

[00:19:28] It's a fight every time I sit down.

[00:19:32] Why?

[00:19:32] Every single time I sit down on the couch.

[00:19:33] He's kind of annoying there, right?

[00:19:34] Because it makes...

[00:19:35] No, he makes perfect sense.

[00:19:36] It's an audio visual medium.

[00:19:38] I can do 12 things at once.

[00:19:40] No, you can't.

[00:19:41] Yes, I can.

[00:19:42] No, you can't.

[00:19:42] Yes, I can.

[00:19:42] Can you do 12 things at once?

[00:19:44] No, because then five minutes after you went to go fold the towels...

[00:19:47] Wait a minute.

[00:19:49] Why is his arm gone?

[00:19:50] I'm folding the towels on the floor watching the TV.

[00:19:53] No, you're not.

[00:19:54] No, no one's watching the TV and folding the towel.

[00:19:56] No, it's gone from...

[00:20:01] I used to say, Ashley, if we're going to commit to watching a film together, I want you to

[00:20:05] enjoy it.

[00:20:06] I want you to pay attention.

[00:20:07] And now I've lost that battle.

[00:20:09] So then I say, when I have to pause it, it ruins my enjoyment of the film.

[00:20:12] So I'm not doing that anymore.

[00:20:13] You get up, I'm pausing it because I want to watch this.

[00:20:16] I want to be...

[00:20:16] I don't want to be...

[00:20:17] Well, the light's on and I hear her on her phone from the bathroom like, what are we

[00:20:22] going to be for Halloween?

[00:20:23] I'm like, oh my God, I'm going to pause the movie.

[00:20:26] Don't pause it!

[00:20:28] Are we going to make soup?

[00:20:29] I'm not joking.

[00:20:30] I'm not joking.

[00:20:31] That's kind of what happens.

[00:20:32] And then is there like a real fight from that after?

[00:20:35] It's a...

[00:20:35] It's not...

[00:20:36] I'll say that it's not a real fight, but maybe I need to put the microphone over here.

[00:20:40] Is it a real fight?

[00:20:42] Is there real frustration?

[00:20:44] Yes.

[00:20:44] As I'm grabbing her leg, is there a real fight?

[00:20:47] Not necessarily.

[00:20:49] I don't...

[00:20:51] It is definitely real frustration.

[00:20:53] Oh yeah.

[00:20:53] Yes, because it's not my favorite thing to do.

[00:20:56] I'm a movie watcher, but I do it with him at the end of the night.

[00:20:58] Because he likes it.

[00:20:59] Because you care about him.

[00:21:00] But it's also my time to like relax and do the things that I needed to do.

[00:21:05] But...

[00:21:05] But also, here, let me defend Ashley real quick.

[00:21:08] Because if she doesn't do it then, that just means three hours later she's going to

[00:21:12] have to do it eventually.

[00:21:13] So what do you say if I say then, it's okay, I'll watch it by myself, you don't need to

[00:21:17] watch it.

[00:21:18] And she's like, no, no, I want to watch it with you.

[00:21:20] Because she wants to be...

[00:21:20] She wants to do something that you like to do.

[00:21:22] But I'm like, no, don't watch it with me.

[00:21:23] Go do the things you want to do.

[00:21:25] Now is Ashley...

[00:21:26] Can you like crochet?

[00:21:27] A lot of people like crochet.

[00:21:29] Yep.

[00:21:29] Or I like to read.

[00:21:30] I will read next to him.

[00:21:32] But...

[00:21:33] Yeah.

[00:21:33] But then you can't watch the movie and read.

[00:21:35] Yeah, but like you have to...

[00:21:36] If you're doing something, especially with your hands, something like that requires you

[00:21:39] to look down and keep track of something else, you're not paying attention to the movie.

[00:21:42] And there are cool shot compositions.

[00:21:44] There's like some...

[00:21:45] Yeah.

[00:21:46] The way something is shot and captured, you know, like you'll see certain details, you'll

[00:21:49] miss something visually that is part of the story because you're supposed to experience

[00:21:53] that part of a movie in addition to the sound.

[00:21:56] So the part is like...

[00:21:57] This is an ongoing conversation, by the way, with us because I do not pause when I go pee.

[00:22:01] But a very famous example...

[00:22:01] And I do pee every 15 minutes.

[00:22:03] A very famous example of this is something like The Usual Suspects, where the whole time

[00:22:09] it's going to be a big twist and all of the visual cues along the way have led up to

[00:22:14] this.

[00:22:14] And then it's like, well I don't know, that movie wasn't very good because like it turns

[00:22:17] out that guy was just that guy?

[00:22:18] Okay, whatever.

[00:22:19] Yeah.

[00:22:19] And I was like, no, you didn't even watch the film.

[00:22:21] Like how can we have the same experience?

[00:22:23] And it's like when people come away saying that's not a very good movie, I'm like, well

[00:22:27] did you watch it?

[00:22:28] Of course I did.

[00:22:28] Well you were dealing with this and you did this and you went to the bathroom.

[00:22:31] You physically watched half an hour of a two hour film.

[00:22:35] You heard 80% of it.

[00:22:37] I just don't know that that's watching a film.

[00:22:39] That's all.

[00:22:39] Yeah, exactly.

[00:22:40] That's all.

[00:22:41] I just feel like you often will watch films in 15 minute increments.

[00:22:48] But I'll commit to the entirety of it.

[00:22:51] I'm not watching them in 15 minute increments and doing something else.

[00:22:54] Yeah, but you're watching a film in like the first 27 minutes.

[00:22:57] But he's giving that movie its full attention in that time though.

[00:23:00] I would much rather watch a movie literally in 15 minute increments and pay attention the

[00:23:04] entire time.

[00:23:04] There's that time for it.

[00:23:05] Than watch a movie while I'm folding laundry or doing something else that would take me

[00:23:09] away from that film.

[00:23:10] Yeah.

[00:23:11] Anyway, chime in in the comments on Facebook and let us know.

[00:23:15] Do you like Demolition Man or not, Nate?

[00:23:17] It's fine!

[00:23:17] Right!

[00:23:18] Moving on!

[00:23:18] Are you pro or anti-paws?

[00:23:20] If you're pro-paws, you're like me.

[00:23:23] If you're anti-paws, you're like Nate and Ashley.

[00:23:25] Be like Ben.

[00:23:26] Be pro-paws.

[00:23:28] I'm making a t-shirt that says pro-paws.

[00:23:29] And if you're pro-paws, you're probably a veterinarian.

[00:23:32] Fuck you!

[00:23:34] Fuck you!

[00:23:36] I know we're...

[00:23:37] Shut up, hold on.

[00:23:38] I know we're on the same side here, but fuck you.

[00:23:40] That's a terrible joke.

[00:23:41] You're better than that.

[00:23:42] You know better.

[00:23:44] He loves it though.

[00:23:45] Look at his face around.

[00:23:46] If you're gonna be a new vet, you're gonna call yourself pro-paws.

[00:23:51] What the fuck is wrong with you?

[00:23:52] And you're gonna have a cartoon cat with one of those...

[00:23:55] The little doctor like...

[00:23:56] Civil thing.

[00:23:58] Oh, from back in the day?

[00:23:59] Yeah, like wrapped around your head.

[00:24:00] And he's gonna be like giving a thumbs up because that's pro-paws.

[00:24:04] By the way, for those listening, Brad's Edible has officially cooked it.

[00:24:09] Yeah, Brad's Edible has kicked in.

[00:24:11] There's no indication of that.

[00:24:13] I'm sorry.

[00:24:14] This is a perfectly sound advertising idea and someone's gonna take it and run with it.

[00:24:18] Anyway.

[00:24:19] Hey, I was...

[00:24:20] Here at All Creature Features, we're pro-paws.

[00:24:22] Exactly!

[00:24:22] It's coming!

[00:24:23] I was thinking this, I was thinking this as I was watching this film, because you guys

[00:24:27] know I...

[00:24:27] I wish I was folding laundry right now.

[00:24:30] I did fold laundry by the way.

[00:24:33] I had three kids.

[00:24:34] During this film?

[00:24:35] Well, I fold laundry all the time.

[00:24:36] Aren't your kids old enough to fold their own laundry now?

[00:24:38] Evelyn can confirm.

[00:24:39] I fold...

[00:24:39] Did I fold laundry last night?

[00:24:40] Yes.

[00:24:41] But why aren't your kids folding their own laundry, Nate?

[00:24:43] What's the real story here?

[00:24:45] Because I do.

[00:24:46] I don't...

[00:24:46] They don't fold it wrong.

[00:24:47] No, kids don't fold laundry.

[00:24:48] Brad, did you fold laundry when you were 11?

[00:24:50] Absolutely not, because I had a closet where I could hang them in.

[00:24:51] But does your mom still do your laundry today?

[00:24:53] Yes.

[00:24:54] No, of course not.

[00:24:55] No, 100% she does.

[00:24:56] I bet she does.

[00:24:57] I bet she does.

[00:24:57] That's not even close.

[00:24:58] Did she make you food today?

[00:24:59] Of course, today she did.

[00:25:03] It was cold, so we...

[00:25:05] Do you share in the meal making or no?

[00:25:07] Yeah, definitely.

[00:25:08] Mine's like an easier, like shittier version, but...

[00:25:11] I made a DiGiorno pizza mom, and she's like, I made five hour lasagna last night.

[00:25:16] Hey, I'll have you know that DiGiorno is a good pizza and she likes it.

[00:25:22] It's because she tells me, it's fine.

[00:25:24] Everything's fine.

[00:25:25] No, no.

[00:25:25] No, I do miss your dad.

[00:25:26] It's not delivery.

[00:25:27] It's DiGiorno.

[00:25:30] Anyway...

[00:25:30] So, I had a question though for you guys, because as I was, you know, I watch things

[00:25:34] and think of it, but who do you think is the better, because I think Sylvester Sloan's

[00:25:39] a fine actor.

[00:25:40] He's not great, but he's a fine actor.

[00:25:42] His best was...

[00:25:43] Copland.

[00:25:44] What's that?

[00:25:44] Copland.

[00:25:46] Or Rocky or Copland.

[00:25:47] You know, I wanted to ask you two specifically, because you guys are 90's action star fans.

[00:25:51] Who is the better actual actor?

[00:25:54] Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Sloan?

[00:25:58] I truly believe it's Schwarzenegger, and it's only because he has the additional hiccup

[00:26:03] of not being American.

[00:26:06] Like, to be able to actually pass off as anybody that isn't, like, is speaking English,

[00:26:14] it's so hard to get the language...

[00:26:16] Sylvester Sloan's not speaking English mostly.

[00:26:18] That's very fair.

[00:26:19] I think Schwarzenegger is a more versatile performer either.

[00:26:23] Like, Stallone can occasionally be funny, but Schwarzenegger knows how to be funny.

[00:26:27] Schwarzenegger has a great sense of humor in the first place, whereas, as written, the,

[00:26:32] you know, when he tried to do some comedies, and of course there's choices that are made

[00:26:37] here, right?

[00:26:38] Yeah.

[00:26:38] Stop or my mom will shoot whatever.

[00:26:39] But I would posit that Stallone's biggest attempt at comedy was a movie called Oscar,

[00:26:46] where he played Snaps Provolone.

[00:26:48] Yeah.

[00:26:48] It's like takeoff of mafia movies.

[00:26:50] Mm-hmm.

[00:26:50] I actually really like that.

[00:26:51] It's not a very...

[00:26:52] It's panned pretty critically.

[00:26:53] I really like that film because of how fast-paced it is and what Stallone's trying to do.

[00:26:58] I get it, but he's still not very funny in it.

[00:27:00] He's not a very great performer in it.

[00:27:02] He's just kind of doing what he would do to him, right?

[00:27:07] Schwarzenegger has some range.

[00:27:08] I don't know if you guys saw Maggie later on in his career.

[00:27:11] Yeah.

[00:27:12] Very, very good film.

[00:27:14] Collateral Damage was another one where it was less actiony and more just distraught father.

[00:27:20] Yeah.

[00:27:21] So as he got older, for sure, but also try to do what he did in Terminator 2.

[00:27:28] Just try to act like a robot like that.

[00:27:30] It's actually pretty hard to do.

[00:27:31] He pulls that off so well.

[00:27:34] He's a pretty good actor.

[00:27:35] And the other question I had too as I was thinking about this was because I want to know,

[00:27:41] what do you guys think of the action stars, current even, right?

[00:27:46] Because I was listening to an interview by Dave Bautista, right, who wants to become a serious actor.

[00:27:51] And he's said that for a long time.

[00:27:52] Yeah.

[00:27:53] But he's trying, right?

[00:27:54] Yeah.

[00:27:54] But I think he's frustrated because he doesn't always get the roles.

[00:27:57] Is there anybody that you can think of that really built a name for themselves in the action genre that ended up becoming a more serious actor that maybe won an award or something like that?

[00:28:09] That legitimately was maybe a little more renowned for being that.

[00:28:13] I think that you have to kind of not rephrase the question, but you have to remember what action stars were.

[00:28:20] So like for a fact, right, Bruce Willis was an action star in movies first and then maybe developed a few other roles and became more of a versatile actor, right?

[00:28:32] Clint Eastwood was Dirty Harry, which back in the 70s, that's an action star.

[00:28:37] And then as he moves forward in his career.

[00:28:39] Clint Eastwood is a legitimate actor.

[00:28:40] Pretty versatile actor, westerns and things like that.

[00:28:42] But he got his start for all intents and purposes as Dirty Harry, right?

[00:28:47] No, but that's actually a pretty good point.

[00:28:50] So to define what an action star is, I think that maybe what you're asking more of is in the genre of like the bulky kind of like silly action.

[00:28:58] Yeah, exactly.

[00:28:59] Meathead.

[00:28:59] Exactly.

[00:29:00] I think that the Batistas, right?

[00:29:01] I think The Rock, he was the bad guy in the Scorpion King was his breakout role.

[00:29:06] But what has he done that has been a legitimate, I guess, because he does some good comedy work now, right?

[00:29:12] Yeah.

[00:29:12] Pain and Gain is exceptional.

[00:29:15] Okay.

[00:29:15] He is, have you ever seen that movie?

[00:29:16] I don't think I have.

[00:29:17] So Brad, you're going to give that to him next because Pain and Gain is phenomenal.

[00:29:21] I love that movie.

[00:29:22] Yeah.

[00:29:22] But has he done anything else that's serious?

[00:29:24] Yeah, yeah.

[00:29:24] Southland Tales was pretty good.

[00:29:26] He was in Walking Tall.

[00:29:29] That's where he came from though, is what I'm saying.

[00:29:31] But like, again, his singing, his voice acting in Moana, there's range here.

[00:29:36] That's an actual performer.

[00:29:38] Yeah, I guess, yeah.

[00:29:39] So I'd say The Rock probably lately.

[00:29:40] I guess I look at him obviously different than like a Clint Eastwood who won awards.

[00:29:45] Exactly, but it's different than what an action star was, I think that what we're trying

[00:29:49] to...

[00:29:49] Or did Clint Eastwood win acting awards or was it more his directing awards?

[00:29:54] I don't know if he ever got any acting awards.

[00:29:55] Yeah, I guess maybe I'm thinking...

[00:29:56] Because again, he's a very heralded person, but more I guess his pride direction.

[00:30:01] Yeah.

[00:30:01] His acting.

[00:30:02] I would also say that maybe someone like Sean Connery could be a good example.

[00:30:06] Oh, yeah.

[00:30:06] Started off young as...

[00:30:08] James Bond.

[00:30:09] Jimmy Vind.

[00:30:10] Yeah, so if you call that an action role.

[00:30:12] Yeah, those were...

[00:30:13] Which it is.

[00:30:14] Yeah, James Bond or action roles, but like it's just action was different and you know...

[00:30:17] And it also...

[00:30:18] But like I would say like again, James Bond requires a suave person in the first place.

[00:30:22] Whereas, you know, Hercules in New York or The Terminator is just a very one note performance.

[00:30:28] Yeah, that's what I was saying.

[00:30:28] Yeah, exactly.

[00:30:29] It's a very clearly meathead type of role that they want.

[00:30:33] And so, Schwarzenegger like getting into...

[00:30:35] Again, I think like a movie like Last Action Hero is incredibly ahead of its time.

[00:30:39] I think it's super underrated.

[00:30:41] And again, it's his sensibility.

[00:30:43] Twins, Kindergarten Cop where he's playing...

[00:30:45] It's a comedy.

[00:30:46] Yeah.

[00:30:47] And he's fish out of water.

[00:30:48] He's doing so well.

[00:30:48] I think that he really is the one that like changed how maybe people see just the Austrian

[00:30:54] Oak bodybuilder.

[00:30:55] He was able to do that.

[00:30:56] And it's a very rare person that can come into our industry and do that.

[00:30:59] Jason Statham is gonna always be the transporter, expendables.

[00:31:05] Like, I don't see him taking on too many nuanced roles other than some Guy Ritchie films.

[00:31:09] Yeah.

[00:31:10] All right, moving on to Demolition Man.

[00:31:12] So this is actually a very good film.

[00:31:15] What I liked about this film a lot though is I didn't...

[00:31:20] I went into this film thinking that it was the fifth element.

[00:31:26] I don't know why.

[00:31:28] Like not that it was the fifth element.

[00:31:29] It's a fair comparison though.

[00:31:30] But it's...

[00:31:32] Futuristic 90s.

[00:31:33] Futuristic.

[00:31:34] But it's very different though.

[00:31:35] Of course, yeah.

[00:31:36] It's far more nuanced.

[00:31:37] Different kind of action tone, yeah.

[00:31:38] It's also just...

[00:31:39] It makes you think a little more I think and...

[00:31:42] Yeah, it's a little more serious.

[00:31:43] Yeah, exactly.

[00:31:44] And I just genuinely loved the dynamic that Wesley Snipes and Sylvester Stallone have.

[00:31:53] And this idea that the world can change in a way that we become unprepared for the change.

[00:32:01] And it's not that far away, right?

[00:32:03] This is set in 1996, 2032.

[00:32:08] Maybe because we're in 2024, gonna be 2025.

[00:32:12] In 1996 seems like a second ago for me a little bit, right?

[00:32:15] Right.

[00:32:16] That seemed that long ago.

[00:32:16] But like the whole world has changed and that we become unprepared for this utopia world that has been created to live in this world.

[00:32:30] But I really enjoyed the film.

[00:32:33] I lost my train of thought.

[00:32:35] Sorry, my kids are running around.

[00:32:36] I was just stomping like dinosaurs up there.

[00:32:38] I'm so sorry.

[00:32:39] But no, so one of the things like...

[00:32:41] One of the things I really like about this film, yes, 90s silly action, right?

[00:32:46] But now talk about...

[00:32:47] It's not that silly though.

[00:32:48] No, like, you know, it's very clearly good guy, bad guy, here's the premise, right?

[00:32:54] Yeah.

[00:32:54] But there's more nuance here than normal for a 90s kind of like movie.

[00:32:58] Because at the time, you gotta remember, the competition was like freaking, you know, March for Death with Steven Seagal.

[00:33:03] And, you know, they had a lot of 90s action films that were not this nuanced.

[00:33:09] Like the whole Dennis...

[00:33:12] Dennis the Menace.

[00:33:14] Oh my goodness.

[00:33:14] Dennis Farina.

[00:33:15] Yeah.

[00:33:15] No.

[00:33:17] Dennis Leary.

[00:33:18] Dennis Hopper.

[00:33:19] Dennis Leary's character from the underground and like the fighting back to steal the food, things like that.

[00:33:24] But also, the inside jokes that are never explained, like the three shells in the bathroom.

[00:33:30] Like he doesn't know how to use the three shells.

[00:33:32] Nope.

[00:33:32] That's really funny to me because they never explain it.

[00:33:35] And back then, a lot of stuff was just like hitting you over the head comedy wise.

[00:33:40] Yeah.

[00:33:41] And that was something that left to be determined.

[00:33:42] And I really liked that they did things like that.

[00:33:44] I have a cool piece of artwork that I got from like a pop culture gallery show that

[00:33:50] is just like a cool illustration of the three seashells.

[00:33:54] And I put it outside of my bathroom door so that if you know, you know.

[00:33:58] I will one up you.

[00:33:59] I have an action figure.

[00:34:01] I have the three seashells.

[00:34:02] No, I have an action figure of the three seashells.

[00:34:04] It was a custom made...

[00:34:06] I was buying custom made ones for a while.

[00:34:08] Yeah.

[00:34:08] And it says the three shells.

[00:34:10] And then in quotes it says, you'll know how to use them.

[00:34:12] Yeah.

[00:34:13] So you guys know that the director of this is Marco Brimbilla.

[00:34:20] Oh yeah, totally.

[00:34:21] I'm a huge...

[00:34:21] Oh yeah.

[00:34:21] I'm a brim head.

[00:34:23] Me and MB, we go way back.

[00:34:25] No, you...

[00:34:25] I'm almost 99% sure you don't because he's only done like four films and this is his, I

[00:34:30] think, last one that he did.

[00:34:32] Or no, he's only done four.

[00:34:34] This was the first one he did.

[00:34:36] Then he did a movie called Excess Baggage.

[00:34:37] Yeah, I was just gonna say Excess Baggage.

[00:34:39] Yeah, that's one of my favorite ones that he did.

[00:34:40] Dino-topia.

[00:34:41] Yeah.

[00:34:42] Well, Dino-topia is classic MB.

[00:34:43] Yeah, we love dino.

[00:34:45] I go hard for dinos.

[00:34:46] Oh yeah.

[00:34:48] And Destricted.

[00:34:48] Did you see that one?

[00:34:49] Yep.

[00:34:49] Oh, Destricted, that was...

[00:34:50] It was a good take on Restricted.

[00:34:52] Yeah, it had a solid...

[00:34:52] That came before but it was a legacy sequel.

[00:34:55] Before even later...

[00:34:55] No, and Destricted is an anthology film that explains the line where art and pornography intersect.

[00:35:01] So...

[00:35:02] Well, that's why I was a big hit with the...

[00:35:04] But me, I do know that actually...

[00:35:06] But I thought this was brilliantly directed and it surprised me that I thought I was gonna

[00:35:10] find somebody that was a bigger director.

[00:35:12] Like John McTiernan or something?

[00:35:14] Somebody that was like...

[00:35:15] Rennie Harlan.

[00:35:15] He's probably done some other bigger things but it's kind of a one note director on this.

[00:35:21] Excess Baggage stars Alicia Silverstone actually.

[00:35:23] I remember seeing that trailer on some VHS that I had that I watched all the time.

[00:35:26] Nice.

[00:35:28] So you liked Demolition Man?

[00:35:30] Yeah, I did.

[00:35:31] I'm glad I watched it.

[00:35:32] Brett, what movie did you watch?

[00:35:35] Uh...

[00:35:35] I'll leave my assignment for last since that's the last movie I watched.

[00:35:40] You do this...

[00:35:41] By the way, you do this every time.

[00:35:42] We love it.

[00:35:43] Where like I ask what's the last movie you saw and you take it as like a...

[00:35:46] I've got to think about the exact...

[00:35:47] That's not the point of this.

[00:35:49] But I like to be accurate with the way I speak.

[00:35:51] It's just...

[00:35:52] You know what?

[00:35:52] We're gonna change this.

[00:35:53] Words have meanings and I like to adhere to them.

[00:35:56] I'm no longer saying what's the last movie you saw.

[00:35:58] I'm gonna just say what movies have you seen lately?

[00:36:01] That's how we're gonna do it because you do this every time and it wastes my fucking time

[00:36:04] and I don't like it.

[00:36:04] You're the one who asked the question...

[00:36:06] Why don't we just change this?

[00:36:07] Give me the last two movies you've seen.

[00:36:09] Yeah, actually for Brad, that's what it's gonna be.

[00:36:10] But I'll...

[00:36:11] What two movies have you seen out of the all of them?

[00:36:12] But then I'll have to think about it in order though.

[00:36:14] So it's...

[00:36:14] Just tell me movies you've seen!

[00:36:15] Still the same problem.

[00:36:16] I started...

[00:36:17] So I've only ever seen the first Friday the 13th movie.

[00:36:22] I've never actually seen any of the other movies.

[00:36:26] So you've never seen anything with the masked Dacian Voorhees character.

[00:36:31] Yeah, I've seen clips.

[00:36:33] I'm familiar with the vibes and stuff like that and the look of Jason and everything.

[00:36:37] But yeah, I've never actually watched any of the full Friday the 13th movies.

[00:36:41] Okay.

[00:36:42] So since it's spooky season, I decided...

[00:36:44] Spooky dooky season.

[00:36:44] Spooky dooky season.

[00:36:45] I decided to start digging into them.

[00:36:47] So I re-watched the original Friday the 13th and it was just as I remember it.

[00:36:51] And then I started watching two and three and four.

[00:36:54] And so I'm basically where they thought maybe the franchise would quote unquote end.

[00:36:58] Because it is called Friday the 13th.

[00:37:00] The final part.

[00:37:01] Oh, they have tried to end this multiple times, of course.

[00:37:06] There's four more movies, of course.

[00:37:09] My favorite of which, Jason Takes Manhattan.

[00:37:11] I can't wait for you to get there.

[00:37:12] It's an all-time bonkers fest.

[00:37:14] Oh, I'm sure.

[00:37:15] I can't wait.

[00:37:15] It's insane.

[00:37:16] Yeah, I'm excited to see that.

[00:37:18] And then of course, there's Freddy vs. Jason.

[00:37:19] But before I do that, I'm going to go watch all the Nightmare on Elf movies.

[00:37:22] Yeah.

[00:37:22] Because I haven't seen anything after the original.

[00:37:24] Oh!

[00:37:25] Yeah.

[00:37:25] The Betty's Johnny Depp and then you're out.

[00:37:27] I'm familiar with that, with enough that like, I know the character gets weirder and

[00:37:31] stuff and I know New Nightmare is kind of like a reboot slash like meta, you know,

[00:37:35] kind of thing.

[00:37:35] Yeah, it's one of those, like both of these series are, we don't know what we are other

[00:37:41] than a slasher.

[00:37:42] Right.

[00:37:42] And then they get to a point where they go, oh, we know exactly what we are and they lean

[00:37:46] hard into it.

[00:37:47] Yeah.

[00:37:47] And you're like, oh, here we go.

[00:37:48] Right.

[00:37:48] And that's when they become really fun.

[00:37:50] Unfortunately for Friday the 13th, it takes a lot longer.

[00:37:54] Oh yeah.

[00:37:54] Freddy knows who he is, you know, by like the third movie, it starts to get really weird.

[00:37:59] Because even Friday the 13th part two, he doesn't have the mask yet.

[00:38:02] He's just wearing a hood on his head.

[00:38:04] They still lean into this as a straight up slasher flick where there's no real comedy

[00:38:08] in it other than like, you know, punching people's heads off and stuff.

[00:38:11] But like, Freddy gets there pretty quickly and I think you're going to enjoy that series

[00:38:15] a lot more.

[00:38:16] Also, one thing that was fun is that Friday the 13th part three was famously a 3D

[00:38:21] installment.

[00:38:22] And so there's like very obvious 3D things of like, they're playing, he's got like a

[00:38:26] yo-yo and like the angle is like, oh, it's coming at me.

[00:38:29] And like even the way Jason kills, like he throws stuff and like it's supposed to come

[00:38:33] out of the screen at you and everything.

[00:38:35] I do think that the soundtrack for that movie was a lot of fun because it had some like 80s

[00:38:40] like horror Sith like, oh yeah.

[00:38:43] And so it was...

[00:38:44] The Jason theme in and of itself is maybe the most classic other than Halloween.

[00:38:49] Yeah, for sure.

[00:38:52] That is horror.

[00:38:53] It's creepy.

[00:38:54] But they're just, these are just fun honestly because it's about the gory kills.

[00:38:59] They're silly.

[00:38:59] Yeah, they're silly.

[00:38:59] And of course it's about the flagrant nudity for no reason.

[00:39:02] Yeah, there's a lot of tits.

[00:39:04] The funniest thing is that every now and then horror movies that you can see them dipping

[00:39:08] into like slightly porn sensibility.

[00:39:11] It's like, oh, what do you mean they encountered two hot twins this time?

[00:39:15] Yeah.

[00:39:15] And of course both those twins end up topless in the movie.

[00:39:19] And of course the tropes become like if you have sex in the movie, you die, right?

[00:39:23] Oh, and everyone's having sex in the Friday the 13th movie by the way.

[00:39:26] Oh yeah.

[00:39:26] So many people.

[00:39:28] Even...

[00:39:29] Even Mrs. Voorhees, which is a really weird twist.

[00:39:31] Even Corey Feldman, who is like a 10, 11, 12 year old kid in this, he like gets excited

[00:39:37] because he sees a girl take her shirt off across like the house in the fourth one.

[00:39:42] So he's like, oh, fuck yeah.

[00:39:43] And so everyone's horny in these movies.

[00:39:46] Yeah.

[00:39:46] I mean, nothing much changes.

[00:39:48] That's true.

[00:39:48] The people are still horny as hell in horror movies.

[00:39:51] Oh, horror movies?

[00:39:52] Horny movies.

[00:39:53] Oh yeah, no, I was just talking about life.

[00:39:54] Oh, you are pretty horny in life.

[00:39:56] Yeah.

[00:39:57] Ugh.

[00:39:58] Yeah, that's gross.

[00:40:02] That's gross.

[00:40:03] You guys talking about being horny?

[00:40:05] So I watched those movies.

[00:40:06] That sounded like a Beale Juice, brother.

[00:40:09] Yeah, you guys talking about being horny.

[00:40:10] Yeah, you guys talking about being horny.

[00:40:12] Yeah.

[00:40:13] Save that for later.

[00:40:14] So...

[00:40:15] I was doing more of a...

[00:40:18] So Nick, you haven't really watched any TV lately?

[00:40:21] No, no, no.

[00:40:22] Brad, what else?

[00:40:23] We spent way too much time talking about other stuff.

[00:40:26] I'm just checking.

[00:40:27] What other movies did you watch?

[00:40:27] I'm just checking.

[00:40:27] Did you watch any other movies?

[00:40:29] Have you watched any other movies?

[00:40:30] I watched a full season of TV.

[00:40:32] Did you watch any other movie?

[00:40:33] A very cinematic series that's lovely and kind of has the vibe of romantic comedy that

[00:40:40] aren't made much anymore.

[00:40:43] But I watched the entire first season of Nobody Wants This.

[00:40:46] Have you heard about the show?

[00:40:47] No, I've not heard of this.

[00:40:48] It's a new romantic comedy series that has Adam Brody and Kristen Bell in the leads.

[00:40:53] And Adam Brody plays a guy who is a rabbi and kind of a cool rabbi.

[00:40:58] And Kristen Bell hosts this podcast where her and her sister talk about sex.

[00:41:03] And they meet and have a little meet cute and whatnot.

[00:41:07] And it's kind of complicated because Adam Brody's family is pretty hard into like he should probably

[00:41:14] be marrying someone Jewish.

[00:41:15] And Kristen Bell is this feisty person who has the sex podcast.

[00:41:19] So, you know, she's like this shiksa who's like a little probably a little inappropriate.

[00:41:23] And it's just really good that I am between them.

[00:41:26] They have a genuine spark and chemistry when it comes to the romance.

[00:41:29] But because they're Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, they're also very funny and they're great together.

[00:41:34] I love Adam Brody.

[00:41:35] Oh, yeah.

[00:41:35] And he's super charming and funny in the show too.

[00:41:38] But I dug this show so much.

[00:41:40] It's 10.

[00:41:40] Mindy Kaling feeling a little bit or?

[00:41:44] Not really.

[00:41:45] It leans less obviously like into the comedy.

[00:41:49] Like Mindy Kaling is very definitely making a comedy.

[00:41:52] This is more of like a romance that happens to also be pretty funny but in a very genuine kind of way.

[00:41:57] I would say it feels more like big sick territory or sleeping with other people, that kind of thing.

[00:42:04] But just really good.

[00:42:06] 10 episodes on Netflix.

[00:42:07] They're all under 30 minutes.

[00:42:10] And yeah, it's just fantastic.

[00:42:12] All right.

[00:42:13] I'll watch it.

[00:42:13] Yeah.

[00:42:14] Can't say enough good things about it.

[00:42:15] Ben, were you excited about that?

[00:42:18] Ben, we're podcast is back.

[00:42:19] Ben, we have a podcast that's going on.

[00:42:21] Were you excited about watching?

[00:42:24] Ben.

[00:42:25] Ben.

[00:42:26] Hey, Ben.

[00:42:27] Pop those.

[00:42:28] No, we're doing a podcast, buddy.

[00:42:32] Are you guys back to talking about movies?

[00:42:34] I really wasn't paying attention.

[00:42:35] I was texting.

[00:42:36] You're saying?

[00:42:36] I'm not joking.

[00:42:37] I was literally texting.

[00:42:38] I don't care.

[00:42:38] Who are you texting?

[00:42:39] I texted Jamie and Drew Buchanan for dropping off a care package at our house.

[00:42:44] Yeah, that was very nice of them.

[00:42:45] I texted Dan White, pinball Dan White.

[00:42:47] Love Mr. Dan White.

[00:42:49] Oscar Bernanke.

[00:42:50] You are a human chode.

[00:42:52] No, we don't.

[00:42:53] This is not a fucking TV podcast.

[00:42:55] And anytime you guys do it, I just, I shut, you saw it.

[00:42:57] I swung the mic away from me.

[00:42:58] I don't care.

[00:42:59] You know what?

[00:42:59] Ashley heard.

[00:43:00] Ashley heard what we were talking about and she's going to make you watch the show all

[00:43:04] bit.

[00:43:04] I hope she does.

[00:43:05] I'm not joking.

[00:43:06] I couldn't repeat a word you guys said.

[00:43:10] See?

[00:43:10] Yeah.

[00:43:11] Guess what?

[00:43:12] You're going to be folding towels and watching that show.

[00:43:14] And then you're going to get sucked into it and then you're going to be like,

[00:43:16] fuck man, I love TV.

[00:43:18] What?

[00:43:19] TV's great.

[00:43:20] What's the other movie you watched?

[00:43:22] Uh, I was assigned a movie by my thoughtful friend, Nate.

[00:43:27] Hey.

[00:43:27] He knows the movies that-

[00:43:29] Don't be all chummy chummy because you just talked about fucking TV for 20 minutes.

[00:43:32] He knows the movies that tickle my fancy.

[00:43:34] Hey buddy.

[00:43:34] He knows how to give me a movie that has a point, that touches-

[00:43:39] Oh, I cannot wait to assign you.

[00:43:40] Touches my heart.

[00:43:41] I'm going to assign you the worst piece of shit you've ever seen next time.

[00:43:44] It-

[00:43:44] Keep going.

[00:43:44] Keep going.

[00:43:45] Keep going.

[00:43:45] Captures my attention and keeps it.

[00:43:47] Fucking Brit.

[00:43:48] Here we go.

[00:43:48] And this is no exception.

[00:43:50] Uh, Nate assigned me the Count of Monte Cristo.

[00:43:53] Yeah.

[00:43:54] Uh, yeah.

[00:43:54] And my fiance Brittany was shocked when I told her that I hadn't seen this movie.

[00:43:59] I was shocked.

[00:44:00] Because she loves this movie.

[00:44:01] I do too.

[00:44:01] Who doesn't?

[00:44:02] How could you not like this movie?

[00:44:04] The funny thing is I've never really heard anybody like gush about it.

[00:44:07] I know it was mostly held like in decent favor, you know, like no one thought it was bad necessarily

[00:44:13] or anything.

[00:44:13] It's great.

[00:44:14] No, this is really good because it's-

[00:44:16] Is it great?

[00:44:17] Yeah, honestly.

[00:44:18] It's several movies in once, you know?

[00:44:21] Yeah.

[00:44:22] You have a little bit of swashbuckling.

[00:44:24] You have a little bit of-

[00:44:25] It's revenge.

[00:44:26] Betrayal drama.

[00:44:27] A little bit epic.

[00:44:27] It's revenge, Brad.

[00:44:29] You have a little bit of prison break.

[00:44:30] Yeah, you know, like, because an hour in, I'm like, oh, where is this going if we're

[00:44:34] already here?

[00:44:35] This movie walked so the rock could run.

[00:44:39] Yeah.

[00:44:40] And you get where Jim Caviezel, like, you're like, oh, this guy actually is pretty good

[00:44:44] at what he does.

[00:44:45] No, he was a good actor before he went cuckoo.

[00:44:48] Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

[00:44:48] Like, you get where like, oh, no, I get why people thought he was going to be a big thing.

[00:44:53] Yeah.

[00:44:53] He was very good in this.

[00:44:56] I'm not sure that I entirely buy that nobody recognizes him when he comes back.

[00:45:00] I know a beard and long hair can do a lot of heavy lifting.

[00:45:03] But also, how long was he gone in the movie?

[00:45:06] 13 years.

[00:45:07] And so, but he didn't really change his look.

[00:45:09] Again, 13 years and like as far as his like distinct facial features.

[00:45:14] People like a like if I'm pretty dumb back then.

[00:45:16] If I'm the person he just engaged, got engaged to before he left, I see and I'm like, Brian

[00:45:22] because she's skeptical.

[00:45:23] Holy shit, Brian.

[00:45:24] Like she thinks he looks a lot like him, but she's not like immediately.

[00:45:26] Oh, that's my husband.

[00:45:27] No, and he would definitely like if I if I didn't see Ashley for 13 years, I'd be like

[00:45:32] and she walked to the room and said, my name is the Countess Delacote.

[00:45:36] Right.

[00:45:36] And I'm like, Ashley?

[00:45:38] No, that's fucking Ashley.

[00:45:40] No, no, no, no.

[00:45:41] No, no.

[00:45:42] Stop.

[00:45:42] I'm sorry, sir.

[00:45:44] I beg your pardon.

[00:45:45] I'm the Countess.

[00:45:45] Ashley, what the fuck?

[00:45:47] How are we ruining Ender?

[00:45:47] And then you go, okay, Countess.

[00:45:50] Wah.

[00:45:50] Exactly.

[00:45:52] Smack her on the tush like you do.

[00:45:54] Hey, did you recognize the boy?

[00:45:56] Of course I recognize the boy.

[00:45:59] Henry Cavill.

[00:46:00] Yeah.

[00:46:00] As Guy Pearce's son.

[00:46:01] Yes.

[00:46:02] Was not expecting it.

[00:46:03] Guy Pearce playing.

[00:46:05] What a little dandy boy.

[00:46:06] All time prick as always.

[00:46:08] Oh, yeah.

[00:46:08] Guy Pearce is awful.

[00:46:09] He's awful.

[00:46:10] I mean, he's so good.

[00:46:10] He's great.

[00:46:12] He's probably because this was what?

[00:46:14] 2002?

[00:46:16] When this came out?

[00:46:17] 2001?

[00:46:18] 2002?

[00:46:19] Yeah, 2002.

[00:46:19] Was it 2002?

[00:46:20] You're killing it with the dates.

[00:46:22] That's been years.

[00:46:22] You're killing it with the dates.

[00:46:24] So back then, it was one of the first times that I would have been in my just graduating

[00:46:30] high school getting into college.

[00:46:32] It's when the first time I saw an actor and I was like, I fucking hate that guy because

[00:46:38] of how good of a villain he plays.

[00:46:40] Yeah.

[00:46:40] Because before that, you know, I didn't care enough about acting and actors to delineate.

[00:46:46] But I remember seeing him being like, he's so good.

[00:46:49] I don't like the person.

[00:46:51] Yeah.

[00:46:51] That's a great actor.

[00:46:52] And Richard Harris also is in this too.

[00:46:54] Yeah.

[00:46:54] Which is so good.

[00:46:55] RIP.

[00:46:56] But yeah, he's fantastic.

[00:46:58] Overall, very, very good movie.

[00:46:59] Overall, very good movie.

[00:46:59] Because it is one of those-

[00:47:00] A little long, but worth it.

[00:47:01] No, it didn't feel long either.

[00:47:03] It was-

[00:47:03] Because it's like two hours and 20 minutes.

[00:47:04] Yeah.

[00:47:05] But it's-

[00:47:05] And there's enough shift in the story that it's like, oh, where are we going now?

[00:47:08] Because they're telling a couple different stories.

[00:47:10] Yeah.

[00:47:10] No, and there's- for being as long as it is, it didn't feel like there was a lag point,

[00:47:14] which is really hard to do.

[00:47:15] It just keeps going.

[00:47:16] But maybe because it does have such different- not shifting genres, but there's almost,

[00:47:22] you know, you've got all these different elements.

[00:47:24] Yeah, you've got the-

[00:47:24] Okay, the betrayal, the lockup, the escape, the revenge, and the reveal.

[00:47:30] You know, all of these things.

[00:47:31] Like, it's a- so most movies have three acts, right?

[00:47:33] This felt like five acts.

[00:47:35] Yeah.

[00:47:35] But it all moved very well.

[00:47:36] I agree.

[00:47:37] Anything else?

[00:47:39] Uh, that is- no, that's it.

[00:47:40] That's all the movies that I watched.

[00:47:42] All right.

[00:47:42] Any other TV shows?

[00:47:43] Nope.

[00:47:43] I watched- I introduced the boys to Ghostbusters.

[00:47:47] Did I tell you this?

[00:47:47] No.

[00:47:48] I think we talked about it on the last episode, didn't we?

[00:47:50] I'm just trying to catch up to see where we were.

[00:47:52] Maybe we did.

[00:47:52] I introduced them to Gremlins.

[00:47:54] Oh.

[00:47:55] They've never seen that.

[00:47:57] Oh.

[00:47:57] And-

[00:47:57] How'd that go?

[00:47:58] They really liked it.

[00:47:59] I remember being scared of-

[00:48:01] No, here's the thing.

[00:48:02] Uh, it's 2024.

[00:48:04] Ender is seven, and he goes, oh, that's fake.

[00:48:07] Like, he knows that, so he's able to enjoy it, whereas we-

[00:48:10] Did you try and convince me it was real, though?

[00:48:11] No, God, no.

[00:48:12] Oh, that's what I would do.

[00:48:12] The-

[00:48:14] The reverse, so I want him to start watching less cartoons and more real movies, so I'm like,

[00:48:17] do it, buddy.

[00:48:18] You can see that it's a puppet, and this and that.

[00:48:20] We're explaining how movies are made to him, so he can just really catch up as far as

[00:48:24] that.

[00:48:24] Yeah.

[00:48:24] Um, but it's so nice to introduce older movies to this generation because they can actually

[00:48:31] skew a little bit.

[00:48:32] Like, you can show a little bit more aggressive 80s films to kids these days because it looks

[00:48:37] so fake to them.

[00:48:38] You mean like Fatal Attraction?

[00:48:41] I mean, he did not like Basic Instinct.

[00:48:44] Um, but it was because they all smoke.

[00:48:47] Oh, that makes sense, yeah.

[00:48:52] We did notice, though, obviously in Ghostbusters, if I didn't say it before, uh, the smoking

[00:48:57] was-

[00:48:58] Oh, yeah.

[00:48:58] It took us out of it.

[00:48:59] It was like, oh, wow.

[00:49:00] Cause they- Oh, yeah.

[00:49:01] No, cause I said, Ender, the first time you ever see Ray Stance smoke, he's working on

[00:49:05] the, uh, the car.

[00:49:07] And so it takes you from, uh, I don't know if I said this on the podcast or not, uh,

[00:49:11] remind me.

[00:49:12] They are very intellectual, they are scientists, and then when they become Ghostbusters, the

[00:49:17] first scene you see is Ray working on the car smoking a cigarette, meaning this is more

[00:49:20] blue collar work.

[00:49:21] Mm-hmm.

[00:49:22] So the, the, it's a, it's actually probably a, uh, kind of a plot device-

[00:49:26] Yeah.

[00:49:26] To like show you, oh, they're, they're not these nerds, they're now more blue collar.

[00:49:30] Do you agree with that?

[00:49:31] I think so, but I think it also just shows like how smart they are too, that like, it's

[00:49:35] not just science, like they can like engineer stuff.

[00:49:39] They don't have things-

[00:49:39] But I'm talking about the smoking part.

[00:49:40] Oh, I think-

[00:49:42] Because you never see them smoke as scientists when they become Ghostbusters, cigarettes, in

[00:49:46] every scene.

[00:49:46] I think that's, I think that's probably-

[00:49:48] That, that might be part of it, but I also think it's just one of the things too where

[00:49:51] like, they're, they're not scientists for long in the movie because you, the only time

[00:49:58] you ever see them before they're Ghostbusters-

[00:50:01] I choose to believe that it is a direct choice by the filmmakers to say-

[00:50:04] You can very well be right.

[00:50:05] To say, let's start having them smoke like real blue collar guys because now they're

[00:50:08] wearing jumpsuits instead of wearing lab coats.

[00:50:10] Yeah, I think, I think you're right that that could have been the impetus behind it

[00:50:13] for sure.

[00:50:13] So, that being said, we watched Gremlin, tons of smoking.

[00:50:17] Oh yeah.

[00:50:17] Tons of inappropriate behavior by these Gremlins.

[00:50:19] Even the Gremlins are smoking.

[00:50:20] The Gremlins are smoking a lot by the way.

[00:50:22] Oh yeah.

[00:50:23] So, I say that to say this, we then watched Gremlins 2.

[00:50:28] Yeah.

[00:50:31] Oh, what?

[00:50:32] So-

[00:50:32] What the absolute, I don't think I've ever seen it.

[00:50:35] Well, it's a new batch.

[00:50:36] Like I thought-

[00:50:42] He's not wrong.

[00:50:43] You're not wrong.

[00:50:44] It's Gremlins 2, a new batch.

[00:50:46] But what the fuck did we watch?

[00:50:49] We are like, even, even kids, seven and ten year olds, like, did that Stewie Griffin turn

[00:50:56] and looked at me very slowly.

[00:50:58] Like, what are we watching?

[00:50:59] It's so campy.

[00:51:00] But I love it in a completely different way.

[00:51:03] It's campy, it's hilarious.

[00:51:04] They break the fourth wall a bunch?

[00:51:05] It's basically a parody of Gremlins.

[00:51:08] Yes, it is.

[00:51:08] And it's a big swing.

[00:51:10] It's a huge swing.

[00:51:11] But I think it's so much fun though.

[00:51:12] It's a cult classic, but I see why it wasn't super well received when it came out.

[00:51:16] Hulk Hogan is in this movie and he threatens, like, they cut the actual film and now you're

[00:51:23] not watching the movie anymore and Hulk, like, then they go to the theater in which the movie

[00:51:28] is playing and the theater manager goes and bothers Hulk Hogan who is in full Hulkamania

[00:51:38] gear and he goes, hey, there's Gremlins up, they've interrupted the movie that we are all

[00:51:43] watching as the audience.

[00:51:44] Hulk Hogan looks in the camera and is like, I'll take care of this.

[00:51:47] Do you need me to come up there and have the Hulkster tear apart some Grimsters?

[00:51:51] And then they start the movie again.

[00:51:53] Yeah, of course.

[00:51:54] So it's crazy bonkers.

[00:51:56] It's an awesome cartoon.

[00:51:58] It's weird as fuck.

[00:51:59] Yeah.

[00:51:59] I don't know what we were watching.

[00:52:00] It was nuts.

[00:52:01] Yeah, it's the perfect horror live action cartoon.

[00:52:03] They loved it.

[00:52:04] We are actually, so we're like 10 minutes from the end because it was really bedtime.

[00:52:08] They had to go.

[00:52:09] So I was like, hey, buddy, we'll finish this the next day or whatever.

[00:52:12] But it is absolute bonkers.

[00:52:16] Who's the voice of Gizmo?

[00:52:19] Howie Mandel.

[00:52:19] Is that how we mandel?

[00:52:21] Yeah.

[00:52:21] That makes sense.

[00:52:23] Mawwaw!

[00:52:24] Mawwaw!

[00:52:25] Mawwaw!

[00:52:26] Also, I have my screensaver on my phone.

[00:52:30] I would laugh if it was just a non-segular.

[00:52:33] It's pornography.

[00:52:36] It's Ariana Grande.

[00:52:39] You see what that is?

[00:52:40] Oh yeah, the electric gremlin.

[00:52:41] That's great.

[00:52:42] Nice.

[00:52:42] So that is, they trap a gremlin who is an electric gremlin in a phone.

[00:52:46] And so I have that as my screensaver now.

[00:52:48] Yeah, I like that.

[00:52:50] I actually wish I thought of it.

[00:52:51] I commented to Ashley that if you go and look at the film, it is an incredibly well done graphic for 1990 when this film came out.

[00:53:00] I'm pretty sure it's just flat out animation.

[00:53:02] Oh yeah, but it is crisp.

[00:53:04] Yeah.

[00:53:04] It is awesome.

[00:53:05] It's very well done.

[00:53:06] So anyway, we really had a good time watching it.

[00:53:08] It's really weird.

[00:53:09] It's really out there, but it's a lot of fun.

[00:53:11] And then I watched my assigned movie, No One Will Save You.

[00:53:15] Mm-hmm.

[00:53:16] This is a 2021 sci-fi horror thriller movie.

[00:53:25] It's a 2023 film.

[00:53:26] Oh, is it 2023?

[00:53:27] I guess it was only that year.

[00:53:28] It's set maybe in 20...

[00:53:31] The one with Caitlin Deaver?

[00:53:32] Yeah.

[00:53:33] Deaver?

[00:53:33] Deaver?

[00:53:33] Deaver.

[00:53:34] Deaver.

[00:53:36] The character lives in a farmhouse by herself.

[00:53:39] Her mom has passed on in 2019.

[00:53:42] Her best friend has passed on as a little girl.

[00:53:44] They were little girls together and the little girl, the best friend passed on.

[00:53:48] We don't know why, but everyone in town hates this woman.

[00:53:52] By the way, are you impressed that I saw this film?

[00:53:54] You've seen this film?

[00:53:55] Yeah.

[00:53:55] Oh, wow.

[00:53:56] My daughter Nora wanted to watch it and I watched it with her.

[00:53:58] I was terrified she wasn't.

[00:53:59] Did you ever talk about it on the podcast?

[00:54:01] I don't remember.

[00:54:02] Probably not.

[00:54:02] Probably not.

[00:54:04] Uh, this film is...

[00:54:06] I think it did though, but I don't know.

[00:54:08] It's...

[00:54:08] So let me just say, I liked it.

[00:54:10] I liked it a lot.

[00:54:10] There's a lot going on here.

[00:54:12] It's short, you know, hour 33, it's a quick hitter.

[00:54:16] It's...

[00:54:17] They do the right amount of buildup.

[00:54:20] Uh, they don't do the thing where they try to come up with a new style of alien.

[00:54:25] Yeah.

[00:54:26] So it's an alien invasion film, but they...

[00:54:30] If everybody's seen the movie Paul, with that kind of caricature of an alien...

[00:54:35] Yeah.

[00:54:36] That's what these are.

[00:54:36] They're little green men with big eyes.

[00:54:39] With varying levels.

[00:54:40] Like, yeah, yeah.

[00:54:41] It's like at the arcade, we've got the small plushie, the medium, and the giant.

[00:54:45] Yeah, yeah.

[00:54:45] That's exactly what this is.

[00:54:47] Flying saucers, literally.

[00:54:48] Mm-hmm.

[00:54:49] Um, the only nuance or difference is their feet are these like...

[00:54:55] Tripod lyrics.

[00:54:56] Well, there are like five of them.

[00:54:57] Yeah, yeah.

[00:54:57] Like, do the move from Adam's family with the thing?

[00:55:02] Yeah.

[00:55:03] That's what their feet do.

[00:55:04] Right.

[00:55:04] And it's...

[00:55:05] But then also, the last digit of like your last knuckle, that splays out flat.

[00:55:11] Yeah.

[00:55:11] So it's this weird look.

[00:55:13] For effect, it was awesome in the film.

[00:55:15] Yeah.

[00:55:16] Um, crittering and chittering were things that happened in the subtitles.

[00:55:22] Oh, interesting.

[00:55:23] Chittering, chittering.

[00:55:24] Animal, creature, chittering.

[00:55:26] Yeah.

[00:55:26] And it's a very good example of what a chittering is.

[00:55:28] It's very...

[00:55:29] Yeah.

[00:55:30] A lot of good noises in this film.

[00:55:32] Um, but overall, it's a story almost less about alien invasion and more about this woman

[00:55:39] and why people hate her.

[00:55:40] Yeah.

[00:55:41] So much of what did you do?

[00:55:42] And I will not spoil this, honestly, even though it only came out in 2020 or it came

[00:55:46] out two years ago.

[00:55:47] Uh, last year.

[00:55:48] Whatever.

[00:55:49] Watch it.

[00:55:49] Yeah.

[00:55:49] It's really worth your time to find out what that reveal is because it happens at the

[00:55:53] end of the film.

[00:55:54] You finally find out why.

[00:55:55] I love this movie so much.

[00:55:57] First, also the one thing you didn't mention that is incredibly cool about it is it is dialogue

[00:56:02] No dialogue.

[00:56:02] Well, except they say a few things.

[00:56:05] Yeah, but this is...

[00:56:06] But mostly.

[00:56:06] Funnily enough, this is a prime example of the kind of movie you want someone to watch

[00:56:10] because of the lack of dialogue and things that are being explained for you unless you're

[00:56:15] watching visually.

[00:56:17] This was the last one, actually, that we argued about because she said, don't pause it.

[00:56:21] I'm just going to get up and do stuff.

[00:56:22] I'm like...

[00:56:22] You can't do that with this movie.

[00:56:23] Everything that is on screen is important.

[00:56:25] And that's the case with every movie, but even more so with a movie like this.

[00:56:28] I would like to say that from his bathroom, with the door open, I can see the entire TV.

[00:56:34] Uh huh.

[00:56:35] I'm still watching it.

[00:56:36] I don't bring my phone into the bathroom.

[00:56:38] When you go to the movie theater, do you go stand just outside the...

[00:56:41] I don't go to the movie theater.

[00:56:41] I am gone or care to go to the theater.

[00:56:41] If you were to go to the movie theater, would you stand just outside the door and think

[00:56:45] you were still watching the movie?

[00:56:46] And then go to the bathroom?

[00:56:48] I don't...

[00:56:52] Why not, right?

[00:56:54] It's a very good film.

[00:56:56] One...

[00:56:57] One...

[00:56:57] I think...

[00:56:58] I didn't look this up, but I think there's a continuity error.

[00:57:01] Okay, well...

[00:57:02] So, one of the aliens...

[00:57:04] And I won't...

[00:57:05] Again, I really do want to keep this spoiler free because if you're...

[00:57:07] It's spooky season.

[00:57:08] If you're hemming and hawing about a film to watch, this is very good.

[00:57:12] So, it's called No One Will Save You.

[00:57:15] It's on Hulu, I believe.

[00:57:17] It's worth a watch.

[00:57:18] It's an hour and a half long.

[00:57:19] It's a breeze.

[00:57:20] There's no nudity.

[00:57:22] There's alien death, but not really any...

[00:57:24] It's not jump scary.

[00:57:26] It's a thriller, really, more than a horror.

[00:57:28] It's not...

[00:57:30] There's some scary moments.

[00:57:31] It's scary, but I don't...

[00:57:33] I'm not saying watch this with your kids, but I...

[00:57:34] It's suspenseful more than scary.

[00:57:35] Yeah, it's way more suspenseful than scary.

[00:57:37] It's not grotesque.

[00:57:39] No, no, no.

[00:57:40] You guys know I don't like slasher films.

[00:57:41] It's not like The Descent or something weird where there's broken bones and people dying like

[00:57:46] that.

[00:57:47] The weird thing that happened was in...

[00:57:50] I'll just say in the film, one of the aliens gets stabbed in the head with an object and

[00:57:58] the alien dies.

[00:58:00] And then the lady covers him up with a towel or whatever, a blanket.

[00:58:06] And then to check to see if the aliens did, like a day later or whatever, she removes

[00:58:11] the blanket and there is an open hole where that thing used to be.

[00:58:15] Mm-hmm.

[00:58:16] Right?

[00:58:16] And then cut to like maybe a day later, she's moving the body and the thing is back in its

[00:58:24] head.

[00:58:25] Like still stabbed in there.

[00:58:27] And we rewound it and we rewound it and we fast forward it and I just think it's an

[00:58:31] honest to God continuity error.

[00:58:33] I was thinking, oh, well they probably explained what...

[00:58:35] Nope.

[00:58:36] I think they just screwed up.

[00:58:37] Hmm.

[00:58:38] Interesting.

[00:58:38] So that was the only thing that I can say that was like, what?

[00:58:40] What?

[00:58:41] Because I love movies like this, but when something like that happens, I think it's purposeful.

[00:58:45] So I'm waiting for the explanation of why that happened.

[00:58:48] And I can't find one.

[00:58:50] To sell this film a little bit more and why I was wanting to watch this as well is it

[00:58:55] is written and directed by Brian Duffield who wrote two other really fantastic movies.

[00:59:01] I really liked The Babysitter.

[00:59:02] Did you guys see The Babysitter?

[00:59:03] I haven't seen The Babysitter.

[00:59:04] What?

[00:59:05] I've heard it's good though.

[00:59:06] Rad!

[00:59:07] And Love and Monsters.

[00:59:08] There's the movie I'm going to give you next time.

[00:59:09] Yeah, Love and Monsters is fantastic.

[00:59:11] Oh, Love and Monsters is awesome.

[00:59:11] So both of those films, great films.

[00:59:13] This is the third.

[00:59:14] I mean, he's done more than that, but I really love those films.

[00:59:16] Much like I don't think that you should show your kids The Babysitter or Love and Monsters

[00:59:21] maybe even because it's a little too much.

[00:59:23] These are still not grotesque, breaking bones movies that are horror.

[00:59:28] These are definitely just more suspenseful and fun, honestly.

[00:59:31] It was kind of like a whodunit.

[00:59:33] I'm waiting to see why do they hate her so much?

[00:59:35] Yeah.

[00:59:36] We kept focusing on that aspect of it the whole time.

[00:59:39] Thanks, man.

[00:59:39] It was a good movie.

[00:59:40] I'm glad you enjoyed it.

[00:59:42] I also watched The Expendables 2.

[00:59:46] Just to make sure that I wasn't watching good movies.

[00:59:48] I interviewed Brian Duffield after this movie, around the time the movie came out.

[00:59:52] So if you haven't seen it yet and you watch it-

[00:59:54] He's only 38.

[00:59:54] The dude-

[00:59:55] No, he's great.

[00:59:57] He's got a great career.

[00:59:58] Feel free to go seek out my interview with him on slashfilm.com because it's a solid one.

[01:00:04] Okay.

[01:00:04] All right.

[01:00:05] I think it's time.

[01:00:08] For what?

[01:00:10] What's the time for?

[01:00:12] I don't know what part of the show we're in.

[01:00:14] Hmm.

[01:00:15] What are you guys looking at me for?

[01:00:16] Mm-hmm.

[01:00:17] You know what time it is.

[01:00:24] You just saw so many movies and why don't you sing a song, you know?

[01:00:28] It's trailer time.

[01:00:29] Yeah.

[01:00:30] I don't want to do it this time.

[01:00:33] I just met Eleni.

[01:00:34] I don't want her to judge me.

[01:00:35] Like, she's never heard the podcast.

[01:00:37] She doesn't know how bad this is.

[01:00:38] If you think the judging isn't already done, I don't know what to tell you.

[01:00:40] No, she's formed such hard opinions about you by now, I'm sure.

[01:00:43] Just let it go.

[01:00:45] Just let it fly, buddy.

[01:00:48] Let this song move.

[01:00:50] Sorry, Emily.

[01:00:51] What was that?

[01:00:58] We had a conversation off air-

[01:00:59] She's being kind to you.

[01:01:00] Where she's being very-

[01:01:01] Well, she's being very kind all night.

[01:01:02] But she said, don't let that thing happen, you know, where you're just doubting yourself.

[01:01:07] Yeah.

[01:01:07] You just gotta believe in yourself.

[01:01:10] It's a fact fly.

[01:01:10] What was that, Brad?

[01:01:11] Don't worry about it.

[01:01:12] I'm not ashamed.

[01:01:14] Believe in yourself.

[01:01:16] That's the way to start.

[01:01:20] I believe in watching some trailers.

[01:01:25] I believe in watching some trailers.

[01:01:28] Do you believe in watching trailers with me and Ben and Brad?

[01:01:32] What the heck is happening?

[01:01:33] What song is this?

[01:01:35] Share.

[01:01:38] Oh, okay.

[01:01:40] Do you believe in her voice?

[01:01:41] Do you believe in her voice?

[01:01:42] I thought you were doing kind of a hip hop song.

[01:01:45] Like an R. Kelly ballad or something.

[01:01:50] You'd be doing R. Kelly fits.

[01:01:52] Yeah.

[01:01:52] You didn't give Cher enough like depth or like presence in her voice.

[01:01:57] I'm not good at this.

[01:01:59] We've talked about-

[01:02:00] You make me do it and then when I do it, you're like, that was pretty shitty actually.

[01:02:03] Why do you think I don't like doing it?

[01:02:06] He's not wrong.

[01:02:06] I'm not sure if you're doing it next to trailer mission with puppets straight out the kitchen watching trailers with Brad and Nate and Ben is so great.

[01:02:14] Fucking bad.

[01:02:15] Like what the fuck?

[01:02:17] There you go.

[01:02:17] That was good though.

[01:02:18] That was a good start if you hadn't bailed on it.

[01:02:20] I'm gonna tell you what your dad never has.

[01:02:22] I'm proud of you.

[01:02:24] I do it and then you're like, fuck you.

[01:02:26] I mean-

[01:02:27] That was terrible.

[01:02:28] But like Cher requires so much more of you.

[01:02:30] Do you believe in watching some trailers?

[01:02:32] There you go.

[01:02:33] There it is.

[01:02:34] Which you were doing like, do you believe in watching some trailers?

[01:02:38] So if I organically would have said, do you believe in watching some trailers?

[01:02:43] Like it just sounds like I'm deaf.

[01:02:44] It's almost like an Aaron Neville.

[01:02:45] It just sounds like I'm doing a deaf impression and I don't want to be that person.

[01:02:50] I don't know much, but I know some trailers.

[01:02:54] There you go.

[01:02:55] That may be all I've seen this week.

[01:02:58] That became Kermit at the end, I think.

[01:03:00] Kermit the Frog here.

[01:03:02] Hey, welcome to the Muppet Show.

[01:03:04] That's Lorne Michaels as Kermit.

[01:03:08] These impressions keep evolving.

[01:03:11] It's a weird array we've got here.

[01:03:13] Laughing pretty hard, Ashley.

[01:03:16] Oh my gosh.

[01:03:17] You believe in life after a frog.

[01:03:21] Hiya.

[01:03:21] I'll give it to you.

[01:03:22] I'll give it to you.

[01:03:23] Do you want to hear my Miss Piggy?

[01:03:25] Oh, please.

[01:03:26] Hiya!

[01:03:26] Yeah, that's pretty good.

[01:03:28] Karate Piggy.

[01:03:29] That's all I get.

[01:03:30] Anyway.

[01:03:30] Do you do a snuffleupagus?

[01:03:33] A snuffleupagus?

[01:03:34] Hey bird.

[01:03:35] That's Dave Chappelle as a snuffleupagus.

[01:03:38] Bird I'm sick, I need some snuff, bird.

[01:03:41] It's just me doing Chappelle doing snuffleupagus snuffy.

[01:03:44] That's what that is.

[01:03:44] Hey bird.

[01:03:45] Bird.

[01:03:46] Uh, it's trailer time.

[01:03:47] We're gonna talk about a couple trailers that we watched.

[01:03:50] One of them, did we watch the first trailer for this on this podcast or did we bail on

[01:03:55] it?

[01:03:55] We've watched both of the-

[01:03:58] I know we watched a teaser from Moana 2 before.

[01:04:00] No, we- I think we did watch-

[01:04:02] Have we talked about both of these though?

[01:04:03] These are both-

[01:04:04] No matter, let's do it.

[01:04:04] We watched two trailers, here they are.

[01:04:06] The first one's about Bob Dylan.

[01:04:07] These are both new trailers.

[01:04:08] I don't know if we watched the first teaser for-

[01:04:11] I think we did this.

[01:04:11] There's a chance we did.

[01:04:13] Uh, but yeah, these are new full trailers for these movies.

[01:04:15] Uh, well the first one is A Complete Unknown, which is a-

[01:04:19] Well no, it's- I mean, it's pretty well known.

[01:04:20] It's- It's Timothee Chalamet.

[01:04:22] It's fucking-

[01:04:22] It's a movie about Bob Dylan.

[01:04:23] The interest he knows about it.

[01:04:24] This is a music biopic with Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan.

[01:04:29] And, uh, I gotta say, as somebody who isn't like in love with Timothee Chalamet-

[01:04:38] Yeah.

[01:04:38] I mean, he's a movie as Dylan too, which is even more impressive because he does sound

[01:04:41] very much like Bob Dylan.

[01:04:42] I have to say, like, again, I'm also in that camp with like, in the right role-

[01:04:47] Yeah.

[01:04:47] But like, a lot of times like, that's Timothee Chalamet.

[01:04:50] Yeah.

[01:04:51] And this one, he- man, he sounds pretty-

[01:04:53] Is it because a little bit like he was elevated maybe a bit too-

[01:04:58] Too soon?

[01:04:59] Prematurely.

[01:05:00] Yeah, I wonder if he just-

[01:05:00] And now he's growing into actually being-

[01:05:02] I mean, the dude's not that old, right?

[01:05:04] No, of course.

[01:05:04] 28.

[01:05:05] Also, I didn't know they were doing a biopic of Bob Dylan when he was 13.

[01:05:09] So, this is good.

[01:05:11] I mean, Bob Dylan was only like 17 or 18.

[01:05:13] He was young when he became pretty famous.

[01:05:16] Elle Fanning is also in this.

[01:05:18] She's been great as she's grown up.

[01:05:21] I honestly think that she's kind of eclipsed Dakota Fanning in a lot of ways.

[01:05:25] I agree.

[01:05:26] Well, kind of like a little bit of the Karen Culkin.

[01:05:29] Yeah, yeah, I think that's fair.

[01:05:30] Yeah, that's a good point.

[01:05:31] Edward Norton's in this-

[01:05:33] Mm-hmm.

[01:05:34] That's Woody Guthrie.

[01:05:36] Let's see who-

[01:05:37] Finally, a movie about somebody not giving a white guy a chance.

[01:05:40] You know, we've been waiting and waiting and now we're finally here.

[01:05:44] Oh, that's who plays Johnny Cash.

[01:05:45] Boyd Holbrook.

[01:05:46] I didn't notice.

[01:05:47] I knew-

[01:05:48] Boyd Holbrook from The Predator.

[01:05:50] That's true.

[01:05:51] Yeah, 100%.

[01:05:52] So, I knew there was somebody- Dan Fogler's in this-

[01:05:56] Also, for those of you that were not in the audience with me to see The Predator, you haven't seen it.

[01:06:01] Boyd Holbrook was the villain in Logan.

[01:06:04] Yes, that's true.

[01:06:04] Which maybe you actually would recognize him from.

[01:06:06] Mm-hmm.

[01:06:06] No, I'm excited about this film.

[01:06:08] It looks very good.

[01:06:09] Bob Dylan had an-

[01:06:11] Well, he's still alive, but-

[01:06:13] He had a great life.

[01:06:15] Bob Dylan, RIP.

[01:06:17] Great songwriter.

[01:06:17] He's still alive to get to where he is.

[01:06:19] Yeah.

[01:06:20] He's actually a guy that has a decent amount of social anxiety.

[01:06:23] I think-

[01:06:24] He's got all these weird-

[01:06:24] There's a lot of reasons for him to not be the incredible artist that he is.

[01:06:29] Brad, do your best Bob Dylan.

[01:06:31] Oh, well, maybe I'll go down to the market and I sing about my drugs.

[01:06:40] Nate?

[01:06:42] How does it feel?

[01:06:44] Oh, not bad, dude.

[01:06:46] Yeah.

[01:06:46] Very nice.

[01:06:47] I like that a lot, actually.

[01:06:48] So-

[01:06:49] I listen to Bob Dylan.

[01:06:50] Even though this feels like it's going to be a pretty traditional rock biopic, I think

[01:06:55] Bob Dylan's story is interesting enough and at the very least, this looks good.

[01:07:00] Like, I'm not expecting-

[01:07:02] It's a good production value.

[01:07:03] It doesn't feel like a Bohemian Rhapsody or, you know, even though I feel like it will

[01:07:08] hit a lot of the same, you know, tropes in a certain way.

[01:07:11] I think the story is different.

[01:07:12] It's a love triangle.

[01:07:13] Yeah.

[01:07:13] I want you to explain that a little bit for the listener because I know exactly what

[01:07:17] you mean, but this is a movie about Bob Dylan, maybe and less about Bob Dylan's music.

[01:07:25] Yeah, maybe.

[01:07:25] Because when I look at it as like the Elton John biopic and-

[01:07:29] Well, I wouldn't lump the Elton John biopic in though because-

[01:07:32] Yeah, yeah.

[01:07:33] Yeah.

[01:07:37] They filled in some gaps.

[01:07:39] Yeah.

[01:07:39] It was a showcase where like, here's the songs you love.

[01:07:42] Yeah.

[01:07:42] And this seems to be like, we're going to tell a story about Bob Dylan's career.

[01:07:45] Yeah.

[01:07:45] But like, I also think some of it too comes from like, there was ever since Walk the Line

[01:07:51] and Ray were released, there's-

[01:07:53] And Walk Hard.

[01:07:54] You will know.

[01:07:55] So I'm going to get to that.

[01:07:56] Those two biopics kind of defined a certain genre of like rock biopic.

[01:08:02] And a lot of biopics now follow that formula of like, oh, this person's famous and like

[01:08:07] flashing back to like all the things that helped define who they are.

[01:08:10] Like this is why they are.

[01:08:11] And this is where that song came from.

[01:08:13] I never saw Ray, but is that the same-

[01:08:14] Yeah.

[01:08:15] And so Walk Hard is the parody of Walk the Line and Ray and movies of that ilk where

[01:08:20] John C. Reilly plays a Johnny Cash-esque performer who goes through all the different

[01:08:25] eras of music.

[01:08:27] All the tough times to make him who he is.

[01:08:27] Yeah.

[01:08:27] And it's all the cliche stuff that biopics have become.

[01:08:30] And Bohemian Rhapsody really felt like it hit that on the head really hard along with

[01:08:35] just being kind of like a jukebox showcase for all the Queen songs that you love.

[01:08:39] And also that was because some of the members of the band helped produce it.

[01:08:44] Right.

[01:08:44] So anytime you get somebody to be like, hey, I'm going to allow you to make a movie about

[01:08:47] my life.

[01:08:49] Also, here's all the shit you can't do.

[01:08:50] Yeah.

[01:08:51] Right?

[01:08:51] It's not gritty at all.

[01:08:52] But then you have something like the Elton John thing.

[01:08:54] I never saw it so I can't really-

[01:08:55] So that's particularly interesting because even though it does follow the same narrative

[01:08:59] trajectory as your normal biopic, because it's a full-blown musical style fantasy in

[01:09:05] the same style of Elton John's artistic style as far as his wardrobe and music videos and

[01:09:12] just general vibe, because of that, it turns the story into something that has a lot more

[01:09:16] life.

[01:09:17] It feels like if they turned a Broadway musical into a movie about Elton John.

[01:09:22] Like an actual movie rather than just a showcase for the songs.

[01:09:25] Yeah.

[01:09:26] Not just a dramatized version of his life.

[01:09:28] It still has those dramatized moments, but the musical sequences where his songs come

[01:09:32] to life are completely different.

[01:09:35] And according to what I can find about this movie, this is about a very specific time

[01:09:40] in his life where-

[01:09:42] But also not just in his life, in the evolution of-

[01:09:47] Folk music.

[01:09:47] Folk music where they went from acoustic guitar to electric guitar.

[01:09:51] Yeah, which was a big deal.

[01:09:52] That seems like a nothing kind of, but it was a huge deal.

[01:09:56] And he-

[01:09:57] Because there's a moment in the trailer where he's going to do an electric and they're

[01:10:00] like, not on my show.

[01:10:01] Yeah.

[01:10:01] What?

[01:10:02] The fuck he is!

[01:10:03] That's so weird to me.

[01:10:04] It's like, what?

[01:10:05] He's not going to wear a collared shirt on this show.

[01:10:07] We're t-shirts only, damn it.

[01:10:10] But yeah, I think this looks good, even though I'm sure it'll fall into some of those

[01:10:14] same tropes, but I-

[01:10:15] No, I actually, for the first time in a long time, I'm in for something like this.

[01:10:19] Yeah.

[01:10:19] Because I realized after watching this, of course, I know his songs, but I know nothing,

[01:10:25] literally nothing about the man.

[01:10:27] Yeah.

[01:10:27] I just know he's revered.

[01:10:29] But I know more about Bruce Springsteen than I know about Bob Dylan.

[01:10:32] And as somebody who is 43, I feel like I should know more about this guy.

[01:10:38] You don't read books though.

[01:10:40] I listen to them.

[01:10:43] I listen to them.

[01:10:43] We also watched-

[01:10:44] That's a lie, I don't listen to them either.

[01:10:45] We watched a trailer for another musical movie of a different kind.

[01:10:49] This is-

[01:10:50] Speaking of The Rock from earlier.

[01:10:52] A full trailer, which they call The Special Look.

[01:10:55] I'm not sure why, but it's basically a full trailer for Moana 2.

[01:10:59] It's a way to get you to watch the trailer, calling it something other than a trailer.

[01:11:02] The sequel to Moana, the Disney movie.

[01:11:05] I love the first Moana.

[01:11:08] Let it go, let it go.

[01:11:11] We're rowing our boats and coming back.

[01:11:13] Let it go, let it row.

[01:11:16] Row harder than you've ever done.

[01:11:19] Yeah, he always knows one part of the song and then totally loses the melody.

[01:11:24] Is that not Moana?

[01:11:25] Not quite.

[01:11:27] So-

[01:11:27] Hey, I tried my best.

[01:11:28] This-

[01:11:30] Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's the seas we row.

[01:11:35] It's a-

[01:11:36] This is a sequel and I think Moana, the original movie, is better than the Frozen movies.

[01:11:42] Yes.

[01:11:43] I love Moana.

[01:11:44] I'm unsure of how the sequel will turn out because the way this kind of came together

[01:11:49] was they were intending to do like a limited animated series and for some reason-

[01:11:54] They just cut it together in an hour and 40 minute movie.

[01:11:56] Well, no, so they took it and they did like shape it into a movie.

[01:12:00] So I don't know how much it changed from what it would have looked like if it were a series

[01:12:04] to being a movie.

[01:12:05] Hey, they used to do this all the time and I have the clamshells to prove it.

[01:12:09] Lion King 2.

[01:12:10] I know, but those were not very good though.

[01:12:12] They were amazing.

[01:12:12] Oh, they're so good.

[01:12:13] I'm a little concerned that maybe-

[01:12:14] The quality doesn't dip at all.

[01:12:15] I'm a little concerned that maybe the story quality won't be there because of how they've adapted it.

[01:12:20] But I will say this trailer does look pretty good.

[01:12:23] I like the story that's there.

[01:12:25] I like what's developing with Moana's family.

[01:12:28] Nate furrowed his brow.

[01:12:29] What's he complaining about?

[01:12:31] There's just what I think made part of this first film magical was the soundtrack.

[01:12:37] Yes.

[01:12:38] It's fantastic.

[01:12:38] And part of that was Lin-Manuel Miranda.

[01:12:41] Absolutely.

[01:12:42] And he's not back on this one.

[01:12:43] It makes me a little nervous.

[01:12:44] Right.

[01:12:44] Yes, that was the second thing I was going to say.

[01:12:46] That missing those key components, I worry that it won't have the same snappiness that

[01:12:53] that first one did.

[01:12:54] Because that first one, that soundtrack's incredible.

[01:12:56] It's funny.

[01:12:57] It's fun.

[01:12:57] Frozen 2 is not as good as Frozen 1, I don't think.

[01:12:59] Well, I'll disagree on that all day, but-

[01:13:02] We've had this conversation on this podcast.

[01:13:03] The soundtrack isn't clearly as good.

[01:13:04] But what-

[01:13:05] This is the same argument you've done before.

[01:13:06] We're not rehashing it.

[01:13:07] If you want to hear this argument, find the episode we talked about for like half a

[01:13:11] half an hour and I had to shut you guys both up.

[01:13:13] The only reason Ben had to shut us up is because he doesn't have anything to participate.

[01:13:18] You legitimately droned on in real detail about these fucking songs.

[01:13:23] Ben only just recently got kids, so he doesn't really have the kind of-

[01:13:27] Want to repeat that, Ashley?

[01:13:29] Respect for-

[01:13:31] Yeah, I get it.

[01:13:32] He doesn't have the respect for animated movies that they deserve, and so that argument

[01:13:36] is an important one and we're going to keep it going.

[01:13:38] Yeah.

[01:13:38] We'll see.

[01:13:40] I'm hopeful.

[01:13:41] Me too.

[01:13:41] But I'm skeptical.

[01:13:42] I'm not, yeah.

[01:13:43] I'm not expecting much of what I'm hoping.

[01:13:45] All I'm doing is I want to have time for the game.

[01:13:47] Do you like Moana?

[01:13:48] I love Moana.

[01:13:49] And are you interested in Moana?

[01:13:50] I love the rooster.

[01:13:52] Hey, hey.

[01:13:53] Whatever.

[01:13:54] He's a cock.

[01:13:56] Are you-

[01:13:57] Got him.

[01:13:58] Got a little naked giggle.

[01:13:59] Are you excited, interested will you watch Moana 2?

[01:14:04] I mean, honestly, every new movie that is kids-related that comes out we watch now.

[01:14:09] Yeah.

[01:14:09] All of them.

[01:14:10] I watched Despicable Me 4.

[01:14:12] I watched Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp.

[01:14:14] I watched Sonic 5.

[01:14:16] I don't know.

[01:14:17] Whatever.

[01:14:17] We watch them all.

[01:14:18] Sonic 3 isn't out yet.

[01:14:19] We saw in the future.

[01:14:20] Did you watch the Knuckles series on Paramount Plus?

[01:14:23] No, we don't watch TV.

[01:14:24] That makes sense.

[01:14:25] We watch movies.

[01:14:25] Yeah.

[01:14:26] Listen, I'm down to being able to watch like two movies a week now, so we're not watching-

[01:14:30] I've got four hours for entertainment on TV.

[01:14:32] Yeah, don't we know?

[01:14:32] It's not gonna be TV.

[01:14:34] It's gonna be movies.

[01:14:35] It's HBO.

[01:14:36] It's not TV.

[01:14:36] It's HBO.

[01:14:38] Um-

[01:14:38] Bum-bum-bum.

[01:14:40] Bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum.

[01:14:43] So you got a better voice than I do.

[01:14:45] So, Nate, you got a game for us?

[01:14:47] I did.

[01:14:47] I created a game here.

[01:14:48] Yeah.

[01:14:49] Nope.

[01:14:51] My girlfriend Evelini is here in the room.

[01:14:54] Woo!

[01:14:55] She is so much better than you.

[01:14:58] Yeah.

[01:14:58] Wow.

[01:14:59] She is better than you.

[01:15:00] Alyssa, I love you, but I met her and I'm like, wow, there's something here.

[01:15:04] Like, you gotta do better, buddy.

[01:15:06] Step it up.

[01:15:07] Literally what my dad said.

[01:15:10] But-

[01:15:11] So I created a game about films that are set in or have as a key character in Brazil.

[01:15:20] Ah, nice.

[01:15:20] She is Brazilian.

[01:15:21] And so-

[01:15:22] I'm gonna be real good at this game.

[01:15:24] They are English language films.

[01:15:26] Oh.

[01:15:27] Yeah, but-

[01:15:28] It's actually-

[01:15:28] American language.

[01:15:29] It's pronounced Br-a-sil.

[01:15:32] Br-a-sil.

[01:15:33] Br-a-sil.

[01:15:34] All right.

[01:15:34] So, um, this is going to be a game with buzzers.

[01:15:41] I'll give you a second to think of your buzzer and then I will call on you and you have

[01:15:45] to tell me your buzzer so that people know what your buzzer is going to be when you buzz in.

[01:15:49] Ben, go ahead.

[01:15:50] Brazil.

[01:15:51] All right.

[01:15:52] Uh, Brett.

[01:15:54] All right.

[01:15:55] That's-

[01:15:57] That's it?

[01:15:58] Okay.

[01:15:58] All right.

[01:15:59] All right.

[01:16:00] So if you know the answer to this film, do your buzzer.

[01:16:03] I don't know the answer to the film?

[01:16:05] What?

[01:16:05] If you know the answer to this-

[01:16:06] The question per the film.

[01:16:08] Oh, gotcha, gotcha.

[01:16:09] Sorry.

[01:16:09] All right.

[01:16:10] All right.

[01:16:10] This 1984 romantic comedy is directed by Stanley Donan.

[01:16:17] The film follows two best friends who take their families on vacation to Rio de Janeiro.

[01:16:23] However, their vacation takes a complicated turn when Matthew begins a romantic relationship

[01:16:32] with Victor's teenage daughter, Jennifer.

[01:16:35] The situation becomes even more complicated as they try to keep their affairs secret while

[01:16:41] navigating through comedic misunderstandings and emotional confrontation.

[01:16:46] The film stars Michael Caine, Demi Moore, and Michelle Johnson.

[01:16:53] I have no fucking idea what this movie is.

[01:16:56] Michael Caine and Demi Moore from 1994.

[01:16:58] 84.

[01:16:59] 1984?

[01:17:01] Oh, 84.

[01:17:02] My goodness.

[01:17:02] Yeah.

[01:17:02] I have no idea whatsoever.

[01:17:06] Yeah, buddy.

[01:17:07] This is a film called Blame It on Rio.

[01:17:10] Yeah, never- I couldn't have pulled out my ass in 100 years.

[01:17:13] Not even close.

[01:17:14] Good start.

[01:17:15] Here we go.

[01:17:16] Here we go.

[01:17:16] This is a 2011 film that follows Blue, a domesticated Spixis McCall from Minnesota.

[01:17:24] I don't know if you can say that.

[01:17:28] I'm not sure if that's a mispronunciation or like something's coming out.

[01:17:32] As he travels to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

[01:17:35] What is going on with Rio de Janeiro in 2011?

[01:17:38] Yeah, we get it, buddy.

[01:17:40] You got a car that you're backing up and you're letting go?

[01:17:41] I'm a robot.

[01:17:42] Brad, what is this film?

[01:17:44] Rio.

[01:17:45] Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.

[01:17:45] Oh, yeah.

[01:17:47] Because it's the animated one.

[01:17:49] Yes.

[01:17:51] Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway.

[01:17:53] Two very famous Brazilian actors.

[01:17:56] Rodrigo Santoro.

[01:17:57] All right.

[01:17:58] This 1979 film has the protagonist investigating the theft of a space shuttle leading him to-

[01:18:06] Brazil?

[01:18:07] Yep.

[01:18:07] Brazil.

[01:18:10] The movie's called Brazil.

[01:18:11] No.

[01:18:12] Oh.

[01:18:12] Leading him to confront the villain Hugo Drax.

[01:18:17] Drax plans to use a-

[01:18:18] It's pronounced Hugo, but that's fine.

[01:18:20] Space to use a-

[01:18:21] Oh, sorry.

[01:18:22] Drax plans to use a space-borne toxin to wipe out the Earth's population and repopulate the planet with his own ideal individuals.

[01:18:30] The Amazon plays an important element in the plot of this film.

[01:18:34] The movie combines espionage, action, and science fiction elements.

[01:18:39] It stars Roger Moore, Lois Giles, and Michael Lonsdale.

[01:18:49] It's called Never Say Brazil Again.

[01:18:52] Because Roger Moore played James Bond.

[01:18:54] Hmm.

[01:18:57] Yeah, I don't know.

[01:18:58] I don't know what this is.

[01:18:59] Moonraker.

[01:19:00] Moonraker.

[01:19:00] Is that James Bond film?

[01:19:01] Yeah.

[01:19:02] I thought it was James Bond, but I had no idea which one.

[01:19:04] I've never seen that one.

[01:19:05] Moonraker!

[01:19:06] We rake you over the moon.

[01:19:09] Moonraker.

[01:19:10] Be careful there's a man in the moon.

[01:19:12] Don't rake over him.

[01:19:15] Moonraker.

[01:19:16] Pretty good.

[01:19:17] Yeah, fine.

[01:19:19] Fine!

[01:19:20] That's more of a Junk Bond song.

[01:19:23] What?

[01:19:24] Junk Bond?

[01:19:25] Can you get it?

[01:19:26] It's like a-

[01:19:26] Oh, instead of James Bond?

[01:19:28] Uh-huh.

[01:19:29] Okay.

[01:19:30] Funny Boy over here.

[01:19:32] Instead of funny.

[01:19:34] This is a high-octane action film that follows a team of people as they plan a daring heist

[01:19:40] in Rio de Janeiro to gain their freedom.

[01:19:43] What year?

[01:19:44] While being pursued by a relentless federal agent.

[01:19:48] Brazil.

[01:19:49] Yep.

[01:19:50] Fast Five.

[01:19:51] Correct.

[01:19:52] Ooh!

[01:19:54] Is that why you didn't want to give the year?

[01:19:56] Yeah.

[01:19:56] Check out the big hog on bear.

[01:19:58] Yeah, it's really-

[01:20:00] Pequeño.

[01:20:00] Ha-ha.

[01:20:01] Ha-ha-ha.

[01:20:02] I heard that means huge.

[01:20:03] I hooked up with a Spanish-speaking person in college and she was like, it's-

[01:20:08] Este es pequeño.

[01:20:09] And I was like, yeah, man.

[01:20:10] I get it.

[01:20:10] Yeah.

[01:20:11] Yeah, I get it.

[01:20:11] Yeah, you know how it is.

[01:20:12] Yeah.

[01:20:13] This 1997 film sees the two primary characters struggling to keep their partnership together

[01:20:22] while facing challenges, aiming to save their city from freezing and destruction.

[01:20:27] What?

[01:20:28] It features a character who works in a Brazilian lab.

[01:20:31] Voot!

[01:20:31] Voot!

[01:20:32] Voot!

[01:20:33] I like that.

[01:20:36] Batman and Robin.

[01:20:38] Correct.

[01:20:39] That took place in Brazil?

[01:20:40] No, Uma Thurman's lab is in Brazil.

[01:20:42] Yeah.

[01:20:43] Oh, I thought the whole movie had to take place in Brazil.

[01:20:45] No, I said it has to have a part of it.

[01:20:47] Oh, I've been holding out for like Brazilian movies.

[01:20:51] You know how many Brazilian movies Ben has seen?

[01:20:53] Yeah, internationally?

[01:20:55] Seven.

[01:20:56] Hmm.

[01:20:57] This 2021 adventure film is based on a theme park attraction of the same name.

[01:21:03] The main character set out on a dangerous journey through the Amazon jungle to-

[01:21:07] Voot!

[01:21:07] Oh, fuck, I forgot what I was in my buzzer.

[01:21:09] Jungle Cruise.

[01:21:10] Correct.

[01:21:10] It's Disney's Jungle Cruise.

[01:21:12] It's actually just Jungle Cruise.

[01:21:13] Yeah, suck on that.

[01:21:15] Alright.

[01:21:16] This 2016 film is a biographical adventure drama that tells the story of a British explorer.

[01:21:22] In the early 20th century, this explorer journeyed into the Amazon and became consumed with the idea of finding an ancient city.

[01:21:30] What?

[01:21:31] The Lost City of Z.

[01:21:32] Correct.

[01:21:33] What?

[01:21:33] Pow!

[01:21:34] What movie is that?

[01:21:36] It's exactly what you just said it is.

[01:21:39] I get it.

[01:21:40] It's an explorer-

[01:21:41] And tells the exact fucking title of the movie.

[01:21:44] You know, I'm telling you to do it.

[01:21:46] I asked you to come down here and it was just to support me.

[01:21:49] Ben, is there a problem?

[01:21:50] Is there a problem?

[01:21:50] No, no, buddy.

[01:21:51] We're just having a real quick sidebar.

[01:21:52] Oh, okay.

[01:21:52] Alright, yeah.

[01:21:53] You're down here and all you're doing is-

[01:21:55] I'm wearing my legs!

[01:21:57] Oh, damn it.

[01:22:01] Yeah, I'm just aware of this movie.

[01:22:03] The Lost City of Z.

[01:22:05] Yeah.

[01:22:05] Okay.

[01:22:06] Alright, this 1992 film stars a scientist working in the Amazon rainforest to find a cure for cancer.

[01:22:14] Z?

[01:22:15] Yep.

[01:22:18] Congo?

[01:22:19] Nope.

[01:22:19] Brazil.

[01:22:21] Congo?

[01:22:22] Don't worry about it.

[01:22:23] That's in Africa.

[01:22:24] Yeah, I know.

[01:22:24] I realized my mistake when I was thinking about it.

[01:22:26] Brazil?

[01:22:27] The medicine man.

[01:22:29] Or medicine man.

[01:22:30] Correct.

[01:22:31] Yep.

[01:22:32] And Sean Connery.

[01:22:34] This 2003 action comedy film features a bounty hunter.

[01:22:39] Brazil?

[01:22:40] Yep.

[01:22:41] The Rundown.

[01:22:42] Yeah.

[01:22:43] I don't like that.

[01:22:44] Yeah.

[01:22:45] Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

[01:22:47] 2003, Bounty-er.

[01:22:49] This is like Ben's-

[01:22:50] By the way, full disclosure, I've had two and a half drinks now and I will say-

[01:22:55] Two and a half?

[01:22:57] Well, I mean, a gentleman's two and a half.

[01:22:59] Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, which means a normal person's 19.

[01:23:03] So, I will say, you kept repeating the Amazon and I kept going, that's not in Brazil.

[01:23:07] In my head.

[01:23:09] And I was like, why did he bring up the Amazon?

[01:23:11] And I go, oh, shit, no.

[01:23:12] I finally realized the Amazon is absolutely in Brazil.

[01:23:15] I'm not joking.

[01:23:16] I'm like, why?

[01:23:16] Like, I get it.

[01:23:17] Like, cause you were saying, you know, these movies take place partially in Brazil.

[01:23:20] And then also the Amazon is what I was thinking.

[01:23:23] Yeah, I'm not smart.

[01:23:25] Ha ha ha ha ha.

[01:23:26] All right, last one.

[01:23:29] I think this is pretty much the winner takes all here.

[01:23:32] I love it.

[01:23:32] This is a high octane action film that features the return of a daredevil agent.

[01:23:36] After coming out of self-imposed exile, he goes on a mission to retrieve a powerful weapon known as Pandora's box, all while facing off against a group of deadly mercenaries.

[01:23:46] This film is packed with intense stunts, espionage, and global adventures.

[01:23:53] Yes.

[01:23:56] Yes.

[01:23:57] Fast and the Furious 7.

[01:23:58] Really?

[01:23:59] That's my guess.

[01:24:00] What's the year again?

[01:24:01] He didn't say it.

[01:24:03] It is.

[01:24:03] He didn't say it.

[01:24:04] No, you can't say it now because I've already buzzed in, so he's all the information.

[01:24:07] I thought he did say the year.

[01:24:08] No, he didn't.

[01:24:09] Did you?

[01:24:10] Hmm.

[01:24:10] You didn't say the year.

[01:24:11] I did not.

[01:24:12] But I will say it.

[01:24:13] 2017.

[01:24:17] Hmm.

[01:24:19] Tricky.

[01:24:22] I don't know.

[01:24:24] It starts, the film starts with an NSA agent trying to do something.

[01:24:30] Unsuccessfully to recruit footballer Neymar for the Triple X program.

[01:24:38] Oh.

[01:24:39] Triple X State of the Union.

[01:24:40] Nope.

[01:24:40] No, it's...

[01:24:41] Triple X Reborn.

[01:24:43] Rebirth.

[01:24:43] Triple X.

[01:24:44] What's the name of the fucking third movie?

[01:24:45] I can't remember.

[01:24:46] Triple X.

[01:24:47] Triple X The Return of Xander Cage.

[01:24:49] Correct!

[01:24:50] Yeah, there it is.

[01:24:51] Yeah.

[01:24:52] I had to remember what his stupid fucking name was.

[01:24:53] I was gonna say like, actually, I said that and I was like, yeah!

[01:24:56] And I'm like, aww.

[01:24:57] Aw, Seth.

[01:24:58] It's sad you know that.

[01:25:01] Well, that's it guys.

[01:25:02] Well, Brad is the winner.

[01:25:03] Good job buddy.

[01:25:04] I could've given you more.

[01:25:05] That was close though.

[01:25:05] That was great buddy.

[01:25:07] That was a great game.

[01:25:07] I love that game.

[01:25:08] I've got another game for...

[01:25:10] Not now.

[01:25:11] We'll play this next time.

[01:25:12] I got so excited.

[01:25:13] Evelyn is on.

[01:25:14] We'll do another...

[01:25:15] Put your pants back on.

[01:25:16] Yeah.

[01:25:17] Yeah.

[01:25:18] Brazil game for...

[01:25:20] Hold on.

[01:25:20] You don't make that sound, right?

[01:25:22] Only when I'm getting it started.

[01:25:24] Yeah.

[01:25:25] Yeah.

[01:25:25] Okay.

[01:25:26] I guess I...

[01:25:27] Let me answer that.

[01:25:29] What'd you say?

[01:25:30] Let me answer that.

[01:25:32] No, no, no.

[01:25:33] This is like what he does by himself.

[01:25:38] He's like...

[01:25:39] You couldn't hear it, but Ashley got up and left.

[01:25:41] Yeah.

[01:25:42] All right.

[01:25:42] That's all we got guys.

[01:25:45] Thanks, Nate.

[01:25:48] See you later.

[01:25:49] I said Ashley got up and left, and Nate goes, that's how we got you?

[01:25:52] He got up as well.

[01:25:54] Yep.

[01:25:54] All right.

[01:25:55] Well, I guess I know.

[01:25:55] If Ashley's done, I'm done.

[01:25:56] I'll come over and press pause on the fucking show.

[01:25:58] I don't even know how it works.

[01:25:59] I guess we're ending the podcast.

[01:26:01] Bye, everybody.

[01:26:02] Bye.

[01:26:03] Well, Evelyn, I'm sorry, Ashley.

[01:26:05] I'm sorry.

[01:26:06] You guys had to be here and listen to this chuckle.

[01:26:08] You know what?

[01:26:08] I'm not sorry.

[01:26:09] You're high.

[01:26:10] And I'm a little tipsy.

[01:26:12] Ooh, buddy.

[01:26:13] And Nate was here as well.

[01:26:14] We all love a good hoedown.

[01:26:16] What?

[01:26:17] Listen.

[01:26:17] That's what we call the podcast recording.

[01:26:19] Don't say that when there are two very wonderful women on the couches.

[01:26:23] You and I have very different ideas of what a hoedown is.

[01:26:26] Is it the Toby Keith song?

[01:26:27] No, it's your mom.

[01:26:28] Boom!

[01:26:29] What the fuck?

[01:26:30] My mom listens to the-

[01:26:32] She doesn't listen.

[01:26:33] No.

[01:26:34] I almost got you, but I didn't because they don't listen.

[01:26:37] Nate, I love you, buddy.

[01:26:38] I love you too, buddy.

[01:26:39] Brad, I love you, buddy.

[01:26:40] I love you guys.

[01:26:41] Evelini, honestly, I know you don't have a microphone, but it's so nice to meet you.

[01:26:44] You're wonderful.

[01:26:45] We love it.

[01:26:46] I love you so much.

[01:26:48] So yeah, make sure that you comment and let us know, have you seen Demolition Man?

[01:26:55] Mm-hmm.

[01:26:56] Will you see No One Will Save You?

[01:27:00] Yeah, and what's your favorite hostess cake?

[01:27:03] And your favorite hostess cake!

[01:27:06] Mine is, I just really like mini donuts.

[01:27:09] Oh no, it's a ho-ho.

[01:27:11] Wait, the chocolate covered ones or the powdered ones?

[01:27:12] Yeah, the chocolate covered ones.

[01:27:13] Oh, okay.

[01:27:13] Get the fuck outta here!

[01:27:14] Powdered ones are delicious, buddy.

[01:27:15] Oh, go fuck yourself.

[01:27:16] You know, you're such an old man.

[01:27:18] I love the mini donuts.

[01:27:19] Oh, I need chocolate on my donuts.

[01:27:21] Actually, I just, I really like the cinnamon bun.

[01:27:25] The honey bun?

[01:27:25] The frosted honey bun.

[01:27:26] Yeah, yeah.

[01:27:27] Not the OG, like, woo.

[01:27:28] No, no, the frosted honey bun.

[01:27:29] Get the fuck outta here.

[01:27:30] Yeah, not even fucking.

[01:27:31] The thing I don't like about that though is you take the plastic off.

[01:27:34] Sticky.

[01:27:34] Some of the frosting always comes with the plastic.

[01:27:36] Also sticky hands.

[01:27:37] And then, well I don't care about that, but like you peel the plastic off and like,

[01:27:40] honestly, like half of the frosting comes, it's on the package.

[01:27:44] Yeah.

[01:27:44] And so then you're awkward in public, I'm licking the plastic, and it's just, people

[01:27:49] look at you.

[01:27:49] Yeah, you gotta be better about the wrapper.

[01:27:52] Well, so P. Diddy should have been as well.

[01:27:54] Wow.

[01:27:54] Wow.

[01:27:55] Topical and gross.

[01:27:56] The Ben Conowitz story.

[01:27:58] Bye everybody, bye!

[01:28:07] Nah, cheat saying, eh?
