Episode 223 - Jacky Dan and Pumpkin Spice Socks

Folks, Ben, Brad, and Nate are finally back. We know it's been a long delay, and all we can do is highlight how much we have to blame Ben's awful health. But the good news is that we've seen a bunch of movies, including our assignments, and Alex Pappas is here to join in the fun!

Ben has certainly been busy, watching the likes of Falling Down, The Birdcage, Mr. Deeds, and his long-assigned movie What If. Meanwhile, Nate re-watched 50/50 and checked off his assignment of Bad Words. Finally, Brad has been theater hopping to catch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Saturday Night. Also, all three hosts have seen Rebel Ridge on Netflix! Wow!

Would you believe we also have time for trailers? We watched the final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance (EDDIE!) and Minecraft (STEVE!) This is an extended episode, just as a treat, since we've been gone for so long, so we hope you enjoy this audio rodeo!

[00:00:17] Hey everybody it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself

[00:00:19] My name is Ben Conowitz and with me as always is the Keds to my Air Jordans, Brad Oman

[00:00:25] Hey that's me, I'm reliable

[00:00:28] Keds are known as being reliable

[00:00:30] One of the last time you saw Keds out of work

[00:00:33] That's not okay

[00:00:34] And the Reebok Pump basketball shoe to my Air Jordan, Nate Lauchs

[00:00:41] Which celebrity basketball player had Reeboks?

[00:00:44] This is not the time for this

[00:00:45] And the Converse All-Stars to my Air Jordans, the ever reliable classic, Starberry

[00:00:54] Alex Pappas

[00:00:55] That's the shoe that Will Smith wears in iRobot to prove that he's cooler than people

[00:01:02] who like robots

[00:01:03] I don't understand why I got such a bad shoe

[00:01:06] Yeah because you always get the worst thing

[00:01:09] You couldn't even give me a jib

[00:01:10] Adidas?

[00:01:11] No, because Adidas are great

[00:01:12] You couldn't even give me like, I don't know

[00:01:14] You're Keds and you need to love it

[00:01:16] What were you saying, Nate?

[00:01:17] Now we get into this, now you can start talking but when you do the introductions that's not

[00:01:21] We don't have a full conversation

[00:01:23] I say the things that I'm feeling at the time is I think I'm learning therapy

[00:01:27] And I wanted to know like which celebrity, like what famous basketball players had

[00:01:33] Reeboks

[00:01:33] I think, I think, didn't Charles Barkley do Reebok as well?

[00:01:36] Shaquille O'Neal

[00:01:37] Yeah Shaq did

[00:01:38] Anybody else?

[00:01:40] Charles Barkley right?

[00:01:42] That's what I just said

[00:01:43] Yeah but you don't matter

[00:01:45] I think in conjunction with Shaq probably am pretty hard away

[00:01:48] I'm sure a lot of

[00:01:49] Alan Iverson too

[00:01:51] Oh that's right

[00:01:52] Sean Kemp

[00:01:53] Of course

[00:01:54] The Rain Man himself

[00:01:55] D Brown

[00:01:56] Do you remember D Brown?

[00:01:58] He was a very short person that played basketball

[00:02:00] D Brown did?

[00:02:02] He was six foot, I mean he was now mugs and boges

[00:02:05] Yeah but six foot to be in the NBA that's pretty

[00:02:07] He was a very short person

[00:02:08] He was a short person

[00:02:09] Yeah

[00:02:11] He was the slam dunk champion in 1991, the golden years of basketball

[00:02:15] Well thanks for coming to Dunkin' Your Balls with Nate and Ben

[00:02:19] Did you guys

[00:02:20] It's better when Grandma Ma had the commercials

[00:02:21] Was Larry Johnson sponsored by Reebok?

[00:02:24] And the Grandma Ma

[00:02:25] I just, oh

[00:02:26] Was that Nike?

[00:02:27] No I feel like that would be like

[00:02:29] What podcast is this?

[00:02:30] Something else

[00:02:30] You know what we're just friends having a good time over here

[00:02:33] Who's having a good time?

[00:02:35] I didn't ask for this nonsense

[00:02:37] Anyway, shut up

[00:02:37] Shut up kids

[00:02:38] Did you guys have a starter jacket?

[00:02:40] Of course I had a starter jacket

[00:02:42] Toronto Raptors

[00:02:43] What?

[00:02:44] Oh yeah

[00:02:44] Yeah Charlotte Horitz

[00:02:45] I don't know if the Toronto Raptors were around when I was a kid

[00:02:48] No they were

[00:02:49] When I was in eighth grade they were

[00:02:51] They were pretty

[00:02:52] And an expansion team in 1992

[00:02:54] Yeah but along with the Vancouver Grizzlies

[00:02:56] No the Memphis Grizzlies

[00:02:57] No when they came out they were Vancouver

[00:02:59] Yeah oh he got you

[00:03:00] He got you on a sports point

[00:03:02] He literally said the Memphis Grizzlies now

[00:03:04] No you didn't

[00:03:05] You just said the Memphis Grizzlies

[00:03:07] Playback

[00:03:08] There's no point

[00:03:09] By the way Larry Johnson

[00:03:11] Larry Johnson had Converse

[00:03:13] Oh

[00:03:14] Grandma Ma were Converse

[00:03:16] There you go

[00:03:16] He had launched the Aero Jam Energy Wave

[00:03:19] So this is a basketball podcast

[00:03:22] Where we talk about basketball movies

[00:03:23] And basketball related trailers

[00:03:25] That would be fun

[00:03:26] Air Bud

[00:03:27] Watch our favorite basketball movies

[00:03:29] He got Gim

[00:03:30] I told you I watch Hoosiers Day

[00:03:32] Eddie

[00:03:33] Sixth Man

[00:03:36] Hustle

[00:03:36] Yeah in the 90s there was some

[00:03:38] Slam Dunk Ernest

[00:03:38] Basketball movies

[00:03:39] The Reff

[00:03:41] What was the one with

[00:03:42] My Giants

[00:03:44] Your Game Beers

[00:03:44] Yeah that's the one

[00:03:46] My Giants

[00:03:47] Yes

[00:03:47] The Air Up There

[00:03:49] Mm-hmm

[00:03:50] With Kevin Bacon

[00:03:51] Yes that's a good point

[00:03:52] Of course we know and love Air Bud

[00:03:55] Our listeners don't know this

[00:03:57] But we do have a poster of Air Bud

[00:03:58] Our listeners know that we have a poster

[00:04:01] They forget these things

[00:04:02] Details

[00:04:02] Also Forget Paris

[00:04:04] Yes

[00:04:05] Billy Crystal

[00:04:06] No he's a Reff

[00:04:07] I know but it's not really about basketball

[00:04:09] Shut up it is

[00:04:11] There's some basketball in there

[00:04:12] Not really about basketball

[00:04:14] Also Space Jam

[00:04:15] Space Jam

[00:04:16] A little movie called Space Jam

[00:04:18] Space Jam Legacy

[00:04:20] A New Legacy

[00:04:21] A New Lazy

[00:04:22] How G Rhythm

[00:04:23] Hustle

[00:04:24] It just came out with

[00:04:25] With Adam Sandler

[00:04:28] Oh yeah that was right

[00:04:30] I liked that movie a lot

[00:04:31] Did you?

[00:04:32] I did

[00:04:33] Basketball Man and the B Boys

[00:04:35] Basketball Man and the B Boys

[00:04:37] That's not NBA again

[00:04:38] We're talking about NBA basketball

[00:04:41] Movies not just basketball

[00:04:42] I remember setting that rule

[00:04:45] It's like not a rule

[00:04:47] That we made

[00:04:47] You're making that up right now

[00:04:49] Well again play the tape

[00:04:51] So Blue Chip doesn't count then

[00:04:52] No

[00:04:53] Oh it's exciting

[00:04:55] It's held Blue Chip though so I think it does count

[00:04:57] I mean Shaquille O'Neal was in it

[00:04:59] So was Anthony Hardaway

[00:05:00] He was

[00:05:02] Did you guys see Uncle Drew?

[00:05:04] No

[00:05:05] I actually heard it wasn't that bad

[00:05:06] I liked Uncle Drew

[00:05:07] I stopped caring about basketball and I just didn't care about that character

[00:05:10] What year do you think you stopped caring about basketball?

[00:05:13] No one cares

[00:05:15] So this is a movie about guys

[00:05:16] Believe it or not we talked about the latest movies

[00:05:18] We talked about some trailers

[00:05:20] It's been about three weeks

[00:05:21] It's been way too long

[00:05:23] We haven't recorded in a while and so we're gonna take our time

[00:05:25] I'd let the listeners determine if it's been too long or not

[00:05:27] Oh the listeners have been nothing but complaining

[00:05:30] We already had people like

[00:05:31] Oh we got an episode of the 10 to 1 podcast

[00:05:33] But we don't get any go-fixes

[00:05:34] You can hear my voice

[00:05:35] I cancelled the GoFlex yourself last time

[00:05:39] After we recorded the 10 to 1 because I was sick

[00:05:41] I literally pulled the plug on the podcast

[00:05:43] And then he stayed sick

[00:05:45] So I could not attend the world premiere

[00:05:47] At the Toronto International Film Festival

[00:05:48] Of a movie called Saturday Night

[00:05:50] Which is a movie about Saturday Night Live

[00:05:52] And the first episode that ever aired

[00:05:53] And I bought a hotel and flight

[00:05:55] And Brad and I were gonna go up there

[00:05:57] And I was sick and I stayed home and didn't do any of that

[00:05:59] And it was very sad everybody, pity party Ben

[00:06:02] I mean it was a real bummer

[00:06:03] It was weird being there and not having you there

[00:06:06] Did you get to like spread out in the bed though?

[00:06:09] Oh I spread out in the bed

[00:06:10] HARD

[00:06:10] Was the plan you were gonna share a bed if Ben was there?

[00:06:14] What do you think they're gonna go and

[00:06:15] Get separate beds, Alex?

[00:06:17] Yeah I got him his own hotel room

[00:06:19] And then I didn't stay in mine

[00:06:21] Because I was in La Porta Indiana

[00:06:23] Why would you get to the hotel rooms?

[00:06:24] Because there's two of us

[00:06:26] We're big belly boys

[00:06:28] When you and Ashley go to a hotel

[00:06:30] You don't share the same hotel room

[00:06:32] I don't cuddle with Brad in the middle of the night

[00:06:35] Why not?

[00:06:35] Well not with that attitude

[00:06:36] You might have been in Canada

[00:06:37] Have you tried?

[00:06:38] We're not in college anymore

[00:06:41] I'll sleep in the bathtub

[00:06:42] You sleep on the floor

[00:06:43] And you and Ronnie in the one double bed

[00:06:46] Yeah that's why we share the bed

[00:06:48] I'm not saying we're sleeping on the floor

[00:06:50] Just sleep on the same bed

[00:06:51] It was a big king size bed for snuggles

[00:06:54] Have you ever tried to snuggle with Brad?

[00:06:56] I'm just so sick of not talking to other adults

[00:06:58] I'm such a tender spoon

[00:06:59] And here's the thing about Brad

[00:07:02] This is what I love about Brad

[00:07:03] There's a lot to love about Brad

[00:07:05] But Brad genuinely doesn't care

[00:07:08] If he's the big spoon or the small spoon

[00:07:10] And I also will not give a shit about farts

[00:07:13] Like no

[00:07:14] You can even get a job

[00:07:16] I rest kind of my case

[00:07:17] And he's like great job man

[00:07:20] I get my own room because of all of these things

[00:07:23] If you feel some kind of crotch region bump

[00:07:26] Like from the snuggles

[00:07:27] Don't worry

[00:07:28] It's just a knee

[00:07:29] Brad won't make it awkward

[00:07:32] Trust me

[00:07:33] If you feel some kind of crotch region bump

[00:07:38] Well yeah

[00:07:38] Yeah no it's just like a

[00:07:40] Oh there it is

[00:07:43] It's a little joy

[00:07:44] Oh there it is

[00:07:46] Sorry about that

[00:07:48] That's my crotch

[00:07:49] No it's his knee he's saying

[00:07:51] Yeah it's my knee sorry

[00:07:53] He's very very thin knee

[00:07:56] What?

[00:07:58] It's thin but it's robust

[00:08:01] I don't think we're talking about knees

[00:08:02] And I want to move on

[00:08:03] Brad what's the three week sponsor?

[00:08:07] Oh well guys I got some good news

[00:08:09] Because it's such a double fun day

[00:08:11] And we're doing this double long episode

[00:08:14] We're not doing the double long episode

[00:08:15] We're gonna hard out in 40 minutes

[00:08:17] We're doing such a double long episode

[00:08:19] And

[00:08:20] We're doing a double sponsor

[00:08:23] I don't like his attitude tonight

[00:08:25] A double

[00:08:27] Sponsor

[00:08:27] He's got cups

[00:08:28] I got cups

[00:08:29] Oh did I bring cups

[00:08:32] Everyone get a cup

[00:08:33] Oh I need the cup back actually

[00:08:36] Brad just threw an empty cup

[00:08:38] And Alex

[00:08:39] And then oh should I have it put in the beginning

[00:08:41] Hold on everyone now

[00:08:43] Alright nobody look over here while I'm trying to pour this sweet sass

[00:08:46] By the way

[00:08:48] Don't throw it at me

[00:08:49] Yeah don't throw it when it's full

[00:08:50] Printed the pie at Alex what are you drinking?

[00:08:53] I'm drinking

[00:08:54] Pissing a job

[00:08:57] A rather warm

[00:08:59] Logany this IPA

[00:09:00] I got from a bad liquor store

[00:09:06] A bad liquor store

[00:09:07] A bad liquor store

[00:09:09] It has a warm fridge this is a warm beer

[00:09:10] Out of the cold fridge and then it was not cold

[00:09:13] And it's big beer

[00:09:15] You're always welcome to the lukewarm cold beer

[00:09:18] Is it lukewarm in our fridge now?

[00:09:19] No it depends on if we remember

[00:09:21] If we remember

[00:09:22] We?

[00:09:23] Or the only guy that goes into that fridge

[00:09:27] We succeed together we fail together

[00:09:28] You're a nerd

[00:09:30] You leave it open

[00:09:31] And that's why my electricity bills through the roof

[00:09:34] We're a team here

[00:09:35] And then byproduct is you have lukewarm soda

[00:09:38] Here comes a drink for you

[00:09:41] Ben

[00:09:42] Ben for you

[00:09:43] Don't finger it

[00:09:45] For the listener the cup is definitely

[00:09:48] At least 18 inches away from my head

[00:09:50] And I can smell it

[00:09:51] It is a robust smell

[00:09:55] Pungent

[00:09:57] Stings the nostrils

[00:09:59] Why are you pouring so much more

[00:10:02] In that one

[00:10:02] I didn't realize

[00:10:04] Oh my god

[00:10:05] What are you doing?

[00:10:09] Why are you pouring it all in there?

[00:10:10] It's just going to be easier hold on

[00:10:11] But how are you going to taste it?

[00:10:13] Hold on I'm not

[00:10:15] It's like a chris angel style magic trick

[00:10:18] Ba da na

[00:10:20] Ba da na

[00:10:23] This is such good audio

[00:10:26] He's just pouring one cup into another cup

[00:10:28] Oh this has less in it

[00:10:31] So I'm going to give Nate

[00:10:33] You must try this drink at all guys

[00:10:35] It's just a little treat for you

[00:10:37] To enjoy

[00:10:38] everyone take a sip of this

[00:10:41] nice brown liquid we got

[00:10:43] on this tiny bottle

[00:10:44] Brad, will you do a toast here?

[00:10:48] Ladies and gentlemen

[00:10:49] This is to all of you out there who said it couldn't be done.

[00:10:55] What is going on?

[00:10:56] Anybody that's ever listened to this podcast?

[00:10:58] Anybody who's ever listened to this podcast and thought,

[00:11:00] what are they doing?

[00:11:02] Well, we did it.

[00:11:03] So, you know, draw a gun.

[00:11:05] I'm sorry.

[00:11:05] Alright, take a sip of this, not a sip of real.

[00:11:11] Whoa.

[00:11:12] Is that leaded Dr. Pepper?

[00:11:15] Oh.

[00:11:16] Is that Oreo?

[00:11:17] It's like a...

[00:11:18] Is that Dr. Pepper Oreo?

[00:11:22] It finishes like an Oreo.

[00:11:23] It feels like cherry vanilla coke a little bit to me.

[00:11:26] Smell it.

[00:11:30] It's Pepsi.

[00:11:32] No, it's definitely...

[00:11:33] I'm on the Oreo train.

[00:11:35] No, it smells like Pepsi though, but it tastes like Oreo.

[00:11:37] It is new Oreo Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.

[00:11:42] Oh, wow.

[00:11:43] Zero sugar.

[00:11:44] Zero sugar.

[00:11:45] Flavored like an Oreo.

[00:11:46] There you go.

[00:11:47] Sweeter than pie.

[00:11:48] If you do want to put some of your Jackie Dan in there?

[00:11:51] No, I got my own Jackie Dan over here.

[00:11:54] Oh, you know what?

[00:11:55] I like that.

[00:11:55] I've never called it Jackie Dan before.

[00:11:57] Oh, Jackie Dan.

[00:11:57] Call it rush hour because then speed into the liquor store

[00:12:00] is a little Jackie Dan.

[00:12:02] Jackie Dan sounds like a guy named Dan who's constantly

[00:12:04] jacking off.

[00:12:05] No, it's a play on Jackie Chan.

[00:12:06] No, he's like, oh, Jackie Dan.

[00:12:08] He just can't get enough.

[00:12:11] Can't get enough rolling the dice.

[00:12:13] We were having a good time over here making Jackie Chan puns.

[00:12:15] Yeah, we were having fun.

[00:12:15] Oh, Jackie Dan.

[00:12:18] Like Tumblr in the Bronx.

[00:12:21] Super cock.

[00:12:22] No.

[00:12:24] Not the Jackie Dan thing.

[00:12:26] Super cock tail.

[00:12:28] Yes, yes.

[00:12:28] Super cock tail.

[00:12:29] No, I'm doing Jackie Dan.

[00:12:30] No, we're doing more like alcohol related puns.

[00:12:32] Bush hour.

[00:12:35] So that tastes like if you remove the sugar from an Oreo

[00:12:37] and then put it into a Coke?

[00:12:40] Yeah, it tastes like if you took the Oreo crystals.

[00:12:43] It doesn't taste good.

[00:12:44] It's not good.

[00:12:45] No, it's not great.

[00:12:46] That was a weird choice.

[00:12:47] I was genuinely surprised that the Oreo smell came through though,

[00:12:51] which is weird.

[00:12:52] But you're right, the flavor at the very end,

[00:12:54] like the aftertaste, that's what tastes more like an Oreo.

[00:12:56] To me, it honestly tasted like Dr. Pepper upfront

[00:12:58] and an Oreo in the back.

[00:13:00] OK, no one look over here.

[00:13:02] Let me guess, Pepsi Flavor and Oreos.

[00:13:04] Hold on, don't look over here.

[00:13:05] OK, great.

[00:13:06] Don't, no one.

[00:13:07] I have to look there because I'm producing the puns.

[00:13:09] Don't have a glance, don't.

[00:13:11] And don't look at the.

[00:13:12] Don't have a glance.

[00:13:13] Don't look at the red side of the cookie either.

[00:13:15] Oh my God.

[00:13:16] Oh, good.

[00:13:16] What are you?

[00:13:18] Don't look at the red side of the cookie.

[00:13:20] Just throw it.

[00:13:23] I'm just going to let it.

[00:13:24] Don't look at the red side of the cookie.

[00:13:25] It landed on my belly and I'm just going to let it sit there.

[00:13:28] Don't look at the red side of the cookie.

[00:13:30] Oh my God.

[00:13:30] So Pepsi would be partnered with Hydrox.

[00:13:33] True.

[00:13:34] All right, so everyone take a little bite.

[00:13:35] Brad, I looked at the red side of the cookie.

[00:13:37] No, you didn't.

[00:13:38] Hold on, I'm smelling this.

[00:13:42] That's much worse than the soda.

[00:13:47] I did look at the red side of the cookie.

[00:13:49] I cannot finish that.

[00:13:51] That's not good.

[00:13:52] Oh, it's like pop rocks.

[00:13:54] That's a bad cookie.

[00:13:55] They're really hard.

[00:13:56] They're like, let it just sit in your mouth.

[00:13:58] It's literally pop rocks.

[00:13:59] All right.

[00:13:59] I don't want to.

[00:14:00] It's like fizzing in my mouth.

[00:14:01] I don't want to fizz in my mouth.

[00:14:04] I don't want that.

[00:14:05] Make the Batman stop.

[00:14:06] I'm good.

[00:14:07] I'll drink more of that drink if I have to.

[00:14:10] I'm sorry, dad.

[00:14:11] Yeah, please don't make me eat any more of those cookies.

[00:14:14] It was just like a, I don't know.

[00:14:18] This is the kind of cookie you punish your kids with.

[00:14:21] This?

[00:14:21] Oh, you want a cookie?

[00:14:22] Huh?

[00:14:22] You want a cookie?

[00:14:23] Oh, didn't even finish your dinner.

[00:14:25] Have this.

[00:14:26] This cookie tastes like Hulk Hogan at the RNC.

[00:14:29] Like, this is what you slap you like.

[00:14:31] We know what you like.

[00:14:32] There are pop rocks in this.

[00:14:32] Aren't there?

[00:14:33] There are pop rocks in this.

[00:14:33] Oh, there are.

[00:14:34] I'm like, it's in my throat.

[00:14:36] Yeah, they're, I don't love this.

[00:14:38] No.

[00:14:38] Why did you do this to me?

[00:14:39] Why did you do this to me?

[00:14:41] Why did you do this to me?

[00:14:43] I mean, no one needed to do this.

[00:14:44] Coke and Oreos head bloody in my mouth.

[00:14:47] That's right.

[00:14:47] I don't like this.

[00:14:48] It's like going crazy in my mouth.

[00:14:50] Coke, Oreos?

[00:14:51] It's a Coca-Cola flavored Oreo, baby.

[00:14:53] Why the pop rocks?

[00:14:54] Brad, just stop.

[00:14:55] The soda, carbonation.

[00:14:57] Oh my God.

[00:14:58] What are you talking about?

[00:14:58] Why the pop rocks?

[00:14:59] No, it's for the fizz.

[00:15:00] I know that you heard me.

[00:15:02] Stop doing this.

[00:15:03] Stop.

[00:15:04] No, just, just me and you.

[00:15:06] But aren't you impressed?

[00:15:07] There's nobody else here right now.

[00:15:08] Just look at me.

[00:15:09] Just look at me in my eyes.

[00:15:09] Aren't you?

[00:15:10] Hey, hey, hey, hey.

[00:15:11] Family meeting.

[00:15:11] Family meeting.

[00:15:12] Nate, shut up.

[00:15:13] Brad, look at me in my eyes.

[00:15:14] Stop doing this.

[00:15:16] Stop, stop intentionally bringing shit that is like, oh, you know what's going to be?

[00:15:19] We're going to trick you.

[00:15:20] Now your throat is tingling for the whole rest of the podcast.

[00:15:22] Oh, don't worry.

[00:15:23] Wash it down with some Dr. Pepper Oreo.

[00:15:25] But when there's an Oreo cookie, go, go, go, go off.

[00:15:28] What are you doing?

[00:15:28] What are you doing?

[00:15:29] Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.

[00:15:32] Oreo, Oreo, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, cookies.

[00:15:34] Have some cookies.

[00:15:35] Oh, cookies.

[00:15:36] That's a good idea.

[00:15:36] Have some cookies.

[00:15:37] They should have done that.

[00:15:38] Go, cookies.

[00:15:39] Oh, my gosh.

[00:15:40] Well, that was none of this was good.

[00:15:43] None of this is even try to bring us something.

[00:15:45] But weren't you so excited to have like them tied to each other?

[00:15:49] You're so lucky.

[00:15:50] Like it's a flip flop fun.

[00:15:51] You're so lucky.

[00:15:52] I didn't scream no so loudly right there.

[00:15:55] I'm proud of myself right now.

[00:15:57] It was right there in my stupid sternum where I was like, and I just held it down

[00:16:03] like I'm holding down the taste of these fucking shitty cookies.

[00:16:06] But I almost yell at you.

[00:16:07] You didn't hate the cookies.

[00:16:08] I did.

[00:16:09] No, you didn't.

[00:16:10] You know what?

[00:16:10] You know what?

[00:16:10] It also just pisses me off.

[00:16:14] I love the, I love riled up Nate.

[00:16:16] That's what I love.

[00:16:16] I have a body that suggests I love cookies.

[00:16:20] And you brought me a terrible cookie.

[00:16:22] This is how I'm trying to help you, Nate.

[00:16:24] And like it takes a lot for me to not like a cookie.

[00:16:27] You know, that's a bite out of a cookie and that will remain uneaten the rest of that

[00:16:31] cookie.

[00:16:31] We're a bunch of guys that like cookies.

[00:16:33] Yeah, I'm a big fat person.

[00:16:33] We like we like the cheat.

[00:16:36] You know, we like cookies here.

[00:16:39] Oh yeah.

[00:16:40] Me we like cookies, man.

[00:16:42] Is that Mexican?

[00:16:45] I thought I sounded like.

[00:16:48] I didn't sound like cheat.

[00:16:49] Oh yeah, we like cookies, man.

[00:16:51] I thought it was a more aggressive cookie monster voice.

[00:16:54] Why would he be have to be more aggressive?

[00:16:55] He's Mexican.

[00:16:58] Wow.

[00:16:59] Really showing our true colors.

[00:17:00] Brad's the only one that can make these jokes.

[00:17:02] I know I can't because you know what in my head I was like I could probably do a

[00:17:05] Mexican cookie monster.

[00:17:05] Not going to do it.

[00:17:07] Do you want a cookie?

[00:17:08] No.

[00:17:12] I don't know.

[00:17:13] I didn't hate him honestly.

[00:17:15] I did.

[00:17:15] But do you so do you guys like gummy flavored colas or

[00:17:19] a couple of gummies?

[00:17:21] No, I don't like gummies at all.

[00:17:23] Well that's fine.

[00:17:24] You don't know.

[00:17:25] Have you ever had one?

[00:17:26] Oh really?

[00:17:27] Oh well that's weird too though.

[00:17:29] I think that's why it's like root beer and stuff like that.

[00:17:31] Oh, when your kids are shaped like little bottles?

[00:17:34] Yeah.

[00:17:35] Those are the wax.

[00:17:36] The wax?

[00:17:37] Yeah I thought that's weird.

[00:17:38] No this is they actually have gummies from Haribo that are shaped like coke

[00:17:42] bottles and they taste like coke essentially.

[00:17:45] Have you ever had those?

[00:17:46] Do you remember those wax things?

[00:17:47] I do.

[00:17:48] Yeah I hated those.

[00:17:49] Yeah no they weren't real candy.

[00:17:51] But no I felt like this has the same flavor as a Coca-Cola gummy just in

[00:17:55] cookie form.

[00:17:55] No I could.

[00:17:56] Yeah it does.

[00:17:57] So I didn't mind that.

[00:17:57] I have a headache now from all that.

[00:18:00] I don't like any of that.

[00:18:01] You're the one who just got upset.

[00:18:03] I'm really upset.

[00:18:04] But if they had a Jack and Coke Oreo.

[00:18:07] I'd try it.

[00:18:07] Okay there we go.

[00:18:09] First in line.

[00:18:10] So all we gotta do is just move one step forward.

[00:18:12] Does that taste like Jack Daniels?

[00:18:13] The Jackie D Oreo?

[00:18:15] Does it fuck me up like a fifth of a...

[00:18:16] Oh my god.

[00:18:18] Okay.

[00:18:19] Hey hey sir, sir you're driving how many cookies have you had?

[00:18:22] Exactly.

[00:18:22] Coca-Cola Oreos and Oreo flavored Coca-Cola Zero Sugar are out on shelves now.

[00:18:28] Should be at any store.

[00:18:29] Did you guys get mad when like when you were sugar treating when you were little and they'd

[00:18:34] put those orange and black...

[00:18:35] Orange and black.

[00:18:36] Peanut butter taffies.

[00:18:38] Oh yeah, piss me right off.

[00:18:39] You know the generic strawberry ones?

[00:18:41] Like just the strawberry wrapper?

[00:18:43] I love those.

[00:18:44] Really?

[00:18:44] Yeah those are good.

[00:18:45] I like the peanut butter taffies.

[00:18:46] They're just they don't have a brand on them.

[00:18:47] I like the peanut butter taffies.

[00:18:48] Oh oh but they're hard candies with the soft...

[00:18:52] Strawberry...

[00:18:52] Oh those are delicious.

[00:18:53] They're delicious.

[00:18:53] I don't know to this day who makes them.

[00:18:55] I don't know, I don't think anybody does.

[00:18:57] I think they just show up.

[00:18:57] They just show up?

[00:18:58] Hey Alex just said that he likes those little orange black peanut butter kiss things.

[00:19:02] What happened?

[00:19:03] Yeah I like the peanut butter taffies.

[00:19:04] Who hurt you when you were a child?

[00:19:05] Well first of all I never really liked Halloween in the first place but like you could

[00:19:09] only...

[00:19:10] Oh my...

[00:19:10] You could only get the black and orange peanut butter taffies and Halloween.

[00:19:15] All the other candy you could get year round.

[00:19:17] I don't like where this is going.

[00:19:19] I like them.

[00:19:19] Do you know who loves Halloween?

[00:19:21] Ben Connelly.

[00:19:22] Jack Skellington.

[00:19:23] I know you do.

[00:19:24] And we're right in the middle of Halloween right now boys.

[00:19:27] Are we though?

[00:19:28] We are.

[00:19:28] I don't know it's not officially fall yet.

[00:19:30] You know what I bought the boys?

[00:19:31] Pumpkin Spice socks.

[00:19:34] I love them.

[00:19:35] That's just the real guess.

[00:19:37] Pumpkin Spice socks?

[00:19:40] No!

[00:19:43] Oh just Jacking.

[00:19:47] No we're near what I did.

[00:19:49] Pecan Pie Shoes.

[00:19:50] No.

[00:19:51] Okay.

[00:19:53] I fell for one of those like Instagram ads and there's been this thing that has been

[00:19:59] popping on my feed.

[00:20:00] It's a chocolate coffin.

[00:20:02] Okay.

[00:20:03] That's full of candy.

[00:20:05] Yep.

[00:20:05] And the guy uses a little wooden hammer to break it open.

[00:20:08] Uh huh.

[00:20:08] And so I knew it was kind of large because it's a full-sized grown man's hand holding

[00:20:13] this little hammer and it's they were $40 a piece.

[00:20:16] Uh huh.

[00:20:17] And I bought two of them to kick off following.

[00:20:19] So they're up in the fridge right now.

[00:20:21] The boys haven't seen them yet but evidently I haven't, I haven't,

[00:20:24] but Ashley actually said what how do you know how big these things are?

[00:20:27] They're enormous.

[00:20:28] I didn't realize they're really that big.

[00:20:30] And I'm like yeah they're 40 bucks.

[00:20:31] It's a novelty.

[00:20:32] You know you smash it open and there's like candy inside of it.

[00:20:35] But these are these are like full grown ass like imagine like the size of

[00:20:39] a full full chocolate bunny for Easter.

[00:20:41] Yeah.

[00:20:42] But it's a coffin instead and it's full of all these awesome treats inside of it.

[00:20:45] That's awesome.

[00:20:45] Yeah I'm gonna break them and I'll record that.

[00:20:47] Do we all get one?

[00:20:48] No they were $40 a piece.

[00:20:49] I only gave them to the two boys that I love in my life which are my

[00:20:52] girlfriends kids.

[00:20:53] Nate did you hear that?

[00:20:57] I mean I like you guys a lot.

[00:20:59] I've never seen Nate stunned into silence before.

[00:21:01] For years.

[00:21:02] You've liked Brad and loved me.

[00:21:04] Well it's true.

[00:21:05] I mean but now I've got like a new level because they're like my

[00:21:08] kids now.

[00:21:09] Like I love you.

[00:21:10] You're like Nate you just got demoted.

[00:21:12] My mom's dead.

[00:21:14] And I hate when you do that because it makes it sound like she

[00:21:18] died last week.

[00:21:18] When did your mom die Nate?

[00:21:20] 1997.

[00:21:20] Okay so again I don't like this at all.

[00:21:23] Well to be fair though if I can say Brad somebody in your life

[00:21:27] died?

[00:21:28] Well and honestly my dad would be really disappointed in you

[00:21:31] Ben.

[00:21:32] Oh my god.

[00:21:34] When did your dad die?

[00:21:36] Three years ago while I come up before.

[00:21:38] Like fresh enough for him to visit you in a dream.

[00:21:41] What is happening to me right now?

[00:21:43] I just said I thought.

[00:21:44] Fresh enough that memories will bring a streaming tier to

[00:21:46] your face Ben.

[00:21:47] I bought candy for my boys.

[00:21:50] Oh so now we're not his boys.

[00:21:51] We're not even your boys?

[00:21:53] Oh my god Alex help me out here please.

[00:21:54] We used to be your boys.

[00:21:56] Yeah but now we don't get any chocolate coffins or treats

[00:21:57] inside.

[00:21:59] My co-host that's what he calls us.

[00:22:02] Hey I've got co-hosts of a podcast.

[00:22:04] Yeah exactly.

[00:22:05] Now we don't.

[00:22:05] You know I was hanging out with my podcast co-host the other

[00:22:07] day.

[00:22:08] Not my friends.

[00:22:09] No we don't even get coffins or chocolate inside.

[00:22:13] Son of a bitch.

[00:22:14] That's pretty good.

[00:22:15] Coca-Cola Oreos.

[00:22:16] Don't avoid them today.

[00:22:20] Guys it's been a long time since we talked about movies.

[00:22:22] How many movies did you guys watch?

[00:22:24] None.

[00:22:25] Honestly quite a few.

[00:22:26] Yeah we know.

[00:22:26] Okay but we gotta pick like just a couple.

[00:22:28] Alright.

[00:22:29] No this is a double episode.

[00:22:30] This is ridiculous.

[00:22:31] Brad we've not done this for three or four weeks.

[00:22:34] Brad's gonna get into the 17 films that he has

[00:22:37] not seen.

[00:22:37] No no I'm not gonna go that long.

[00:22:38] And then he's in bag.

[00:22:39] I actually I went to TIFF and I saw this one indie film.

[00:22:43] No I literally only saw one movie at TIFF.

[00:22:45] I went to TIFF and I saw this it's a movie well it's

[00:22:48] called Paper Bag and it's black and white and it's

[00:22:52] French but no subtitles.

[00:22:54] It's not available anywhere for you to see.

[00:22:56] And in France they play it it's Bulgarian with

[00:23:00] no subtitles.

[00:23:01] They purposely make sure that nobody can understand it.

[00:23:04] And what I love about this film, fuck you.

[00:23:06] That's the kind of shit that you do and I hate.

[00:23:08] Wow okay so we just got a little jealous party over

[00:23:11] here from Fraco and Bucko.

[00:23:14] Which one's which?

[00:23:15] You'll figure it out.

[00:23:17] Alex what's the last movie you saw buddy?

[00:23:19] Last night I watched the movie Hackers from 1995

[00:23:23] with Angelina Jolie and John Dan...

[00:23:27] Forsythe?

[00:23:28] Someone?

[00:23:29] Matthew Lillard as serial killer.

[00:23:30] I love Hackers.

[00:23:31] It's I think it...

[00:23:33] Hack the Planet.

[00:23:34] Hack the Planet baby.

[00:23:35] The day after I watch it it's my favorite movie of all time

[00:23:38] and it never really gets further away than like three.

[00:23:41] I just I love Hackers.

[00:23:42] The anti-corporate message is so great.

[00:23:44] There's the bad guys name the plague.

[00:23:45] Penn Gillette is in it.

[00:23:47] It's the costume design everything.

[00:23:50] The music it's so 90s it's just...

[00:23:53] Alex, Johnny Lee Miller.

[00:23:54] Johnny Lee Miller.

[00:23:56] Angelina Jolie's ex husband.

[00:23:58] Yeah sure I could totally after watching that movie.

[00:24:00] Yeah for sure so much.

[00:24:02] Maybe they got married because of that movie.

[00:24:03] Hot sexual chemistry there's a it's really it's just it's a great movie.

[00:24:07] Everyone should watch Hackers at least once.

[00:24:10] Before they die.

[00:24:11] You gonna show it to your kids?

[00:24:12] Hack the Planet.

[00:24:14] Yeah I don't know they don't they don't sit still

[00:24:17] things from the 90s yet.

[00:24:19] He just said everyone on the planet so...

[00:24:21] They got a lot of time left and like you know like

[00:24:25] they don't have to be there yet.

[00:24:27] Eventually.

[00:24:28] They're not ready.

[00:24:28] Okay that's fine.

[00:24:29] For serial killer and all of his friends.

[00:24:31] I still smell.

[00:24:34] The saccharin disgusting putrid coke Oreo scum bottom bullshit.

[00:24:46] And I can't stand it.

[00:24:48] It is fucking either drink it up or throw it away.

[00:24:54] We all drink it already.

[00:24:55] I think it's your cookie.

[00:24:56] It's starting to oxidize.

[00:24:58] It's staining with paper.

[00:24:59] It's starting to oxidize.

[00:25:00] Oh it is the cookie.

[00:25:02] Oh my god.

[00:25:03] Over there with the frogs?

[00:25:04] Through and over the dead frogs.

[00:25:05] I whipped it on the other side I'll pick it up later.

[00:25:08] There are two dead frogs.

[00:25:09] Okay there's two dead frogs in my basement.

[00:25:10] Calm down.

[00:25:11] What's weird is they died together.

[00:25:13] They did they were right next to each other.

[00:25:14] It is and once upside down and I don't know what that means.

[00:25:17] Yeah I think there was some real dramatic.

[00:25:19] Something happened here.

[00:25:20] Something happened here.

[00:25:21] Like they tried to pull off like some way like one of them

[00:25:23] tried to flip the other ones so you could like try and get away.

[00:25:25] Well they croaked.

[00:25:26] Oh fuck didn't eat to eat.

[00:25:30] Come on.

[00:25:30] No that's good.

[00:25:32] That was good.

[00:25:32] Don't worry about it.

[00:25:34] We were having such a good show and then he like comes in here

[00:25:36] with his like fucking attitude.

[00:25:38] What does that even mean?

[00:25:41] Like he thinks he can just come in here and say some shit like

[00:25:44] that.

[00:25:44] Is that the last movie you saw?

[00:25:45] I saw Alien Romulus two days ago.

[00:25:49] Was it terrifying?

[00:25:51] No.

[00:25:52] It was not terrifying.

[00:25:54] I bet it was.

[00:25:56] It wasn't.

[00:25:57] Nate's easily scared.

[00:25:59] You cannot convince Nate that it wasn't.

[00:26:00] Like space.

[00:26:02] It takes place in space.

[00:26:04] So that is true.

[00:26:05] No I enjoyed it though.

[00:26:06] A lot of practical effects really made it fun to watch.

[00:26:11] Where would you put it in the Alien film like saga?

[00:26:16] The most third.

[00:26:17] It's the most recent.

[00:26:20] I don't know.

[00:26:22] Yeah probably.

[00:26:23] I haven't seen Alien Covenant so I can't include that one.

[00:26:27] Is that any good or no Alien Covenant?

[00:26:29] I think it's alright.

[00:26:30] It's fine.

[00:26:31] But I'd probably go one, two Romulus.

[00:26:36] In mine it's Prometheus, then Alien.

[00:26:40] But.

[00:26:41] Alright.

[00:26:42] I remember that.

[00:26:42] But it was really fun.

[00:26:43] It was fun.

[00:26:44] I heard it's a pretty fun movie.

[00:26:46] Go see it.

[00:26:47] There's a lot of fun.

[00:26:49] Go tell them what to do.

[00:26:51] I have a lot on my plate right now.

[00:26:52] By the way that film did really well.

[00:26:54] $80 million budget.

[00:26:55] Yeah it feels like.

[00:26:56] $30 million.

[00:26:57] Movies for adults are kind of coming back.

[00:26:58] $330 million box office?

[00:27:00] Yeah.

[00:27:00] Nice job Ridley Scott.

[00:27:02] This second highest grossing R rated release this year.

[00:27:06] Was it really Scott?

[00:27:06] That's really good.

[00:27:07] He produced it.

[00:27:08] He didn't make it.

[00:27:09] Fita Alvarez.

[00:27:10] Yeah Fita.

[00:27:11] Yeah the person.

[00:27:12] Previously did.

[00:27:13] Evil Dead.

[00:27:14] Ah the new one.

[00:27:15] Yes.

[00:27:16] Rise.

[00:27:16] No no not Evil Dead Rise.

[00:27:18] Not Rise.

[00:27:18] And then he did a Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

[00:27:23] So wait what's the most recent one if it's not Evil Dead Rise?

[00:27:26] Alien Romulus.

[00:27:26] No Evil Dead Rise is the most recent one but he directed the one before that Evil Dead the

[00:27:30] first reboot.

[00:27:31] Oh I'm sorry I did not know that was a thing.

[00:27:33] Yeah.

[00:27:34] Weird.

[00:27:35] He also did.

[00:27:35] Did you guys see this girl in the spiders web?

[00:27:39] Nope.

[00:27:40] Now I never even heard of it but he did that film starring Claire Foy.

[00:27:45] Oh so that's the overseas there was a full trilogy of the girl with the dragon tattoo

[00:27:51] books and so that's the third one I think.

[00:27:55] Okay.

[00:27:55] Because it's the girl with the dragon tattoo, the girl who kicked the hornet's nest and

[00:27:58] then.

[00:27:58] The girl that was a spider.

[00:28:01] Yeah the girl.

[00:28:01] In the web.

[00:28:02] The madame web.

[00:28:02] The girl who sat on a teffan.

[00:28:04] Madame Tussauds wax spider.

[00:28:06] And then you did another one called Don't Breathe.

[00:28:07] Did you ever see that one with Jane Lee?

[00:28:09] Yeah yeah that's the one where the guy from Avatar the villain Stephen Lang plays

[00:28:16] a blind guy.

[00:28:17] So Don't Breathe the first one is good.

[00:28:20] Yes.

[00:28:21] The second one is.

[00:28:22] Dog shit.

[00:28:22] One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

[00:28:24] I would posit that.

[00:28:27] Well I wouldn't so here's the thing.

[00:28:28] It's terrible Brad.

[00:28:29] No no but there's one reason why it's terrible and if they got rid of that reason then it

[00:28:33] wouldn't then that would be a cool premise still.

[00:28:35] Again that didn't happen though did it.

[00:28:37] No I know.

[00:28:37] So this is terrible.

[00:28:39] This is the only time that I think that I found a movie that is worse than the

[00:28:44] original more so than Jack Reacher because Jack Reacher never go back is atrocious

[00:28:52] compared to.

[00:28:53] But I think that.

[00:28:54] But I think the gap between how good Jack Reacher is and how bad.

[00:28:59] I really thought that Don't Breathe was a good movie.

[00:29:01] I think it's decent but I don't think it's like.

[00:29:03] Like Jack Reacher is a great movie.

[00:29:04] Yeah exactly.

[00:29:05] Okay that's fair.

[00:29:06] But don't.

[00:29:07] But Reacher the show.

[00:29:09] My guilty pleasure.

[00:29:11] And that's all we're gonna say about that because we have so many movies to talk about.

[00:29:14] Do you want to talk about any other movies Alex?

[00:29:16] No those are my recent movies.

[00:29:18] Okay.

[00:29:19] I'm gonna watch Asteroid City tonight.

[00:29:21] Okay.

[00:29:22] Wes Anderson.

[00:29:23] Yeah.

[00:29:23] Good flick.

[00:29:24] Brett how many movies do you have?

[00:29:27] And they don't want you to tell me the same.

[00:29:29] How many movies do you have?

[00:29:30] I chose two.

[00:29:33] Have you really only seen two since the last time we recorded?

[00:29:35] No I've seen more but I've chose two.

[00:29:37] How many do you think that you've seen?

[00:29:39] I'm watching more TV shows right now so.

[00:29:41] So that's not the answer to my question.

[00:29:43] Yeah that's what I'm saying so I think probably only three.

[00:29:45] So you cut it down to.

[00:29:47] From three.

[00:29:48] Three?

[00:29:49] But I couldn't think of, I know there was a third one that I watched but I cannot remember

[00:29:52] what it was and I've been trying to think about it.

[00:29:54] Brett how many movies do you think you have?

[00:29:56] But do you guys ever think about when you watch a film you're like I should remember this

[00:29:59] film make a mental note or just put it in my notes app on the and I never do and

[00:30:04] I should.

[00:30:04] Yeah.

[00:30:06] 12.

[00:30:07] I have 22.

[00:30:08] Yeah so you watched a lot.

[00:30:09] I did.

[00:30:10] Did you really?

[00:30:11] Well it's been like three and a half weeks.

[00:30:12] Yeah but still.

[00:30:14] But still.

[00:30:15] I stay up late because the boys go to bed at 8.30 and now I've got like time.

[00:30:18] You're time now.

[00:30:19] You need your special time.

[00:30:20] I do.

[00:30:21] The boys.

[00:30:22] The boys.

[00:30:22] Non-bad time.

[00:30:24] Yeah the boys go to sleep.

[00:30:26] And you know I will admit there are times where it's like 8.19 and I'm like bed time

[00:30:31] and they're like come on they know.

[00:30:33] You can be in your room quietly.

[00:30:35] I'm like you could read.

[00:30:36] Yeah.

[00:30:36] You could read all you want buddy.

[00:30:37] Yeah here's a flashlight.

[00:30:38] Time for probably get some sleep.

[00:30:40] What movies did you watch Brad?

[00:30:42] Alright well first I wanted to reach back into our collective minds and ask you if you remember

[00:30:50] the feeling you had when you were a young boy.

[00:30:55] Remember that feeling?

[00:30:56] You have to continue talking.

[00:30:58] Now I saw a movie called Strange Darling.

[00:31:02] Have you heard of this?

[00:31:03] Have you heard of this?

[00:31:04] No J.

[00:31:05] I haven't.

[00:31:06] Cool.

[00:31:07] What uh.

[00:31:08] No you really haven't though.

[00:31:09] What hyphenated name was in this one?

[00:31:13] Which of a becoming director of a hundred and fifty thousand dollar film?

[00:31:17] John Claude Gaultier Spindar.

[00:31:21] Oh wait John Claude Gaultier isn't that a designer?

[00:31:23] That's the same guy who made Peter back.

[00:31:24] I thought it was John Paul Gaultier.

[00:31:26] Oh yeah there we go.

[00:31:27] Anyway what's-

[00:31:28] It's Gaultier.

[00:31:29] No that's somebody I used to know.

[00:31:31] Yeah.

[00:31:32] Uh no so it's it's directed by this guy named J.T.

[00:31:35] Molnir and he's known for doing these indie thrillers.

[00:31:39] But this is a like a great indie like suspenseful thriller that puts a spin on like the slasher

[00:31:49] like movies a little bit.

[00:31:51] Uh the lead performance by this girl Willis Fitzgerald is fantastic.

[00:31:54] It's the kind of movie like just go in like without watching like the trailer or anything

[00:31:59] like that and just because it's a lot more fun if you don't know what's going to happen.

[00:32:04] And what is it called honestly?

[00:32:05] Strange Darling.

[00:32:06] Strange Darling's.

[00:32:07] Okay.

[00:32:07] Weird thing about this.

[00:32:08] Singular Strange Darling.

[00:32:09] Strange Darling.

[00:32:09] I obviously look to stuff up what everyone's talking on Wikipedia but weird thing about

[00:32:14] this film is famous actors typically-

[00:32:17] Hey Nate go back to not doing that.

[00:32:19] Go back to not saying that you look things up.

[00:32:21] I want people to just think that you're just coming with this.

[00:32:23] I'm really smart yeah.

[00:32:24] I really do because you used to not do this.

[00:32:25] Um but I just go back to that.

[00:32:27] Because I didn't know this but usually famous actors become directors.

[00:32:31] This was a famous or a famous actor that became a cinematographer who is it?

[00:32:36] Oh Giovanni Robisi.

[00:32:37] Yeah isn't that weird?

[00:32:39] You don't see that a lot where famous actors become-

[00:32:41] That track?

[00:32:42] Where they would be like yeah you know what I'm a camera operator.

[00:32:45] Yeah.

[00:32:45] Yeah that was I thought that was really interesting.

[00:32:47] And the way color and stuff is used in the movie is like the way the way it is shot

[00:32:52] is like it is partly well done cinematography.

[00:32:54] Did you see that camera operator?

[00:32:57] Was that Mark Paul Gossler?

[00:32:59] Yeah.

[00:33:00] Well actually he's just looking for work.

[00:33:03] He's the continuity script you know what I mean.

[00:33:09] Intinuity I got there.

[00:33:11] Yeah he got fired from Game of Thrones.

[00:33:14] Eric Roberts is catering.

[00:33:16] That's so mean.

[00:33:18] That's good.

[00:33:18] But it's so mean.

[00:33:19] But it's a funny guy.

[00:33:21] Oh I'm sorry Eric Roberts.

[00:33:22] He's probably a nice guy.

[00:33:23] He is a big fan of this.

[00:33:25] I love the park.

[00:33:27] I also watched both the original and 1970s remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

[00:33:32] I had never seen them before.

[00:33:34] When did the remake come out?

[00:33:36] 78.

[00:33:36] That's the remake?

[00:33:37] Yeah.

[00:33:38] Didn't they do a new one?

[00:33:39] I'm sure there's another one but there's not like a new one that was like a big blockbuster movie or anything like that.

[00:33:43] What's the one that they tried to do in like the mid 2000s with Keanu Reeves that's in a very similar vein?

[00:33:50] Oh that is-

[00:33:51] The day of the year is still-

[00:33:52] Yes the day of the year is still-

[00:33:53] Yes yes same kind of premise right where-

[00:33:56] Is it really not?

[00:33:57] No because the day of the year still is like a robot comes from like space basically and like it's-

[00:34:04] I thought it was like to take over humanity though.

[00:34:06] No.

[00:34:07] It's like to like judge humanity.

[00:34:09] Oh sorry.

[00:34:09] I'm sorry.

[00:34:10] I said I'm sorry.

[00:34:11] No that's embarrassing.

[00:34:13] Invasion of the Body Snatchers is more like a sci-fi zombie movie basically.

[00:34:18] I said I was sorry.

[00:34:20] It's just so embarrassing.

[00:34:22] But no they're both great.

[00:34:23] The 56 one has like a great score.

[00:34:26] Cool.

[00:34:26] And then the 78 one actually it's interesting to watch in the aftermath of COVID because

[00:34:35] it feels like there's really a good like metaphor there as far as like plague and disease and

[00:34:40] stuff like that especially when because it's set in like the late 70s but yeah Donald Sutherland

[00:34:45] is in it.

[00:34:46] That's a good movie.

[00:34:48] Oh Donny S.

[00:34:49] Oh what's next?

[00:34:51] Donny S.

[00:34:53] You have 11 more to get through.

[00:34:55] No I'm not going to go through all of them.

[00:34:56] I'm going to mention one that I know that you've seen.

[00:34:59] I saw a blink twice.

[00:35:02] And twice.

[00:35:04] You don't want to say anything?

[00:35:05] No I mean I want to see your opinion of it.

[00:35:07] So blink twice is a movie.

[00:35:09] It might still be in theaters but I think it's already gone because it wasn't like a-

[00:35:12] 23 movies.

[00:35:13] A huge box office job but directed by Zoey Kravitz and it follows these girls who

[00:35:19] go to an island with like who's like-

[00:35:23] Yeah, Chane Tatum.

[00:35:23] Yeah, Chane Tatum who's kind of like-

[00:35:25] A billionaire tech guy.

[00:35:26] Mark Zuckerberg.

[00:35:27] Yeah, like a Zuckerberger and Elon Musk you know and he's already like been like kind

[00:35:32] of-

[00:35:32] Chastised for being a bro.

[00:35:34] Cancelled and come back and now he like has this like new image and everything and

[00:35:38] so he invites them to come to his island to party where like they kind of just

[00:35:41] relax and drink and do drugs and stuff like that.

[00:35:44] And then it takes a much more sinister turn as time goes on and they're on this

[00:35:48] island with them.

[00:35:50] Pretty dark.

[00:35:51] Pretty bleak.

[00:35:51] There is a trigger warning at the beginning of this film and I saw it with

[00:35:56] friend of the pod Luke Starkey and even though we say we are pretty fucking

[00:36:02] liberal people and I really identify with everything that you know is good

[00:36:07] about cancel culture and-

[00:36:09] Whatever.

[00:36:10] I really do.

[00:36:11] We looked at each other like we're doing this now like you gotta have-

[00:36:14] And then after the movie we were like yeah that's a good idea.

[00:36:17] They should definitely have had that trigger because there's some horrible

[00:36:20] shit that I would feel very bad.

[00:36:22] Yeah.

[00:36:23] Somebody who had gone through an experience had to see this movie.

[00:36:25] They could definitely pull a lot of trauma out of someone-

[00:36:27] Fucking horrible in that way so if you have any sort of trauma like that

[00:36:31] avoid this movie or at least know what you're going to.

[00:36:35] It's dark as shit.

[00:36:37] Yeah but it is fantastic.

[00:36:38] It's fantastic though it's very well done.

[00:36:40] Yeah I liked it a lot I thought it was really good.

[00:36:42] You know who I really liked in that?

[00:36:43] Is it what's his name?

[00:36:44] Simon Rex?

[00:36:45] Yes.

[00:36:46] He is underrated.

[00:36:47] Yes.

[00:36:47] He's great in so many things that now that I've like looked back at his IMDB.

[00:36:51] He's great.

[00:36:52] Yeah absolutely.

[00:36:53] I like it a lot.

[00:36:54] He also has two first names which is-

[00:36:56] And they're both animal they're all pet names.

[00:36:59] That's true.

[00:37:00] Hey Simon, Simon come here Rex come here.

[00:37:03] Yeah it's true.

[00:37:04] Come here Simon.

[00:37:05] Come here Simon Rex.

[00:37:06] Come here.

[00:37:07] Come here Simon.

[00:37:08] Okay what's next?

[00:37:10] Anything else?

[00:37:10] Yes I watched a little action movie that you might have heard of.

[00:37:15] Oh my god.

[00:37:15] Yeah.

[00:37:16] Called Haywire.

[00:37:17] Have you never seen it?

[00:37:18] I had never seen Haywire.

[00:37:20] Was it called Gea Carano?

[00:37:22] Yeah Gea Carano.

[00:37:23] The now cancelled Gea Carano.

[00:37:27] She stars in it and it's a Steven Soderbergh Spine movie.

[00:37:30] Michael Fassbender is also in it.

[00:37:32] I liked it when it came out.

[00:37:33] I don't remember much of it but I just remember liking it when it came out.

[00:37:36] No no it's solid for sure.

[00:37:40] What's interesting is I had forgotten about this until I started watching it and I

[00:37:43] was like that's not her voice.

[00:37:47] You don't hear Gea Carano's voice in this movie.

[00:37:50] They dubbed her?

[00:37:51] Her entire performance was dubbed by Laura San Giacomo.

[00:37:55] Wow.

[00:37:56] Yeah and if you watch...

[00:37:58] If you watch very closely you can see?

[00:38:00] You can tell.

[00:38:01] Once you know it's Laura San Giacomo.

[00:38:04] You can't unsee it.

[00:38:04] Yeah you know.

[00:38:05] You're like yep that's her voice.

[00:38:07] I genuinely think it's because...

[00:38:09] All the anti-Semitic comments she made.

[00:38:12] Wow.

[00:38:14] Hey Steven I'm going to do a little re-write here.

[00:38:16] I think that honestly Hitler has some good points.

[00:38:18] Soderbergh huh?

[00:38:20] Knowing how she delivered her lines in stuff like The Mandalorian and the Fast and Furious movies.

[00:38:26] Very terribly.

[00:38:27] Yeah I think that they dubbed because they wanted a better performance but they didn't want to be mean.

[00:38:33] That's weird.

[00:38:34] Well no because she was aware of it.

[00:38:35] And like it was the explanation that was given was that the...

[00:38:41] The mics were always off.

[00:38:43] No they just wanted her voice to sound completely different from her actual voice for whatever reason.

[00:38:49] I mean that's what...

[00:38:51] Like imagine if you got that line you know told you hey the reason we dubbed your voice completely and utterly and took you completely

[00:38:58] like your performance half done is because we didn't want it to sound like you.

[00:39:03] And then you went that's that makes sense.

[00:39:06] That's a good thing.

[00:39:07] I also agree.

[00:39:08] But she gave a great physical performance though.

[00:39:10] Oh no yeah she's a badass.

[00:39:11] She's phenomenal at the action.

[00:39:13] It was weird when I saw a cut of the film before they dubbed it and she was like...

[00:39:25] She made some choices.

[00:39:27] I can see why.

[00:39:27] He's Adam Sandler.

[00:39:28] Well no I mean she was and then she actually said I was channeling my best Sandler.

[00:39:35] It was a choice.

[00:39:37] Yeah it was definitely a choice but I'm glad we made it there.

[00:39:41] The destination arrived just as we did.

[00:39:43] Anything else?

[00:39:44] And you arrived.

[00:39:46] And your destination.

[00:39:50] I also saw Beetlejuice.

[00:39:52] Have anybody else see this?

[00:39:53] Don't say the third one.

[00:39:55] Anybody else see this movie?

[00:39:58] I have no idea.

[00:40:00] He's Tracy Morgan.

[00:40:03] Killed Ben.

[00:40:04] The last thing he ate was a Coke Oreo.

[00:40:09] This is going to be like that uh...

[00:40:12] That would be like headed.

[00:40:13] That would be significant.

[00:40:14] That urban legend about the Pop Rocks and Coke but Ben's going to die because he had Coke and a Coke Oreo.

[00:40:20] As long as my funeral guys say that I OD on Coke so it's a cool story I'm good with that.

[00:40:26] Sorry.

[00:40:28] Here's what you see.

[00:40:31] Dumbo too?

[00:40:32] Yeah.

[00:40:33] Dumbo too.

[00:40:34] Dumboo.

[00:40:36] No.

[00:40:37] No.

[00:40:38] No.

[00:40:40] Nope.

[00:40:41] That wasn't it.

[00:40:42] Dumbo too.

[00:40:43] Dumboo.

[00:40:44] That wasn't it.

[00:40:45] That's not the win.

[00:40:47] That's not the win you thought it was.

[00:40:49] You saw my dumb face just just just confounded by that and you thought oh god I'm no.

[00:40:57] Still left.

[00:40:57] That's me.

[00:40:58] What the fuck are you doing?

[00:40:59] Still got that chuckle.

[00:41:01] Got that chuckle.

[00:41:03] Dumbo too.

[00:41:04] Even more ears.

[00:41:06] That's not good.

[00:41:08] That's not as good as Dumboo.

[00:41:12] Yeah so I saw this movie and it is for it really is.

[00:41:17] Wait what movie?

[00:41:19] I'm not joking.

[00:41:20] People just people joking.

[00:41:20] Oh yeah sorry I forgot what we were talking about.

[00:41:21] It really is the definition of a movie that is just okay.

[00:41:27] Michael Keaton having a blast in it like it's incredible how easily he fits back into Beetle

[00:41:33] Deuce so he doesn't feel like he's missed a step at all.

[00:41:35] Sometimes when you have someone coming back to a role after it's been so long it doesn't

[00:41:39] quite feel right but it works for the most part.

[00:41:42] This is not a bit I'm asking a real question.

[00:41:44] Do you think that is because in the original he did put on a voice that was like a

[00:41:49] little scratchy.

[00:41:51] Usually when it's 20 years later the voice is the problem because they can no longer hit

[00:41:56] that higher register or sound useful.

[00:41:57] Their vocal chords change.

[00:41:59] But because he was always doing it like come on that it's easier for him.

[00:42:03] It's possible.

[00:42:04] It might just be a voice that's easy to replicate even when you're older but even

[00:42:08] sometimes when you don't have to worry about the pitch of the voice changing

[00:42:12] because of age there's just something about the delivery that doesn't feel quite right.

[00:42:16] They're not doing some of the same things with their intonations and stuff like that.

[00:42:20] But like Keaton just crushes it.

[00:42:22] He's fantastic and they didn't increase his screen time.

[00:42:24] He's still only in the movie for like 20 minutes just like the first one partially

[00:42:28] to the movies detriment maybe but I just don't know what the threshold would be

[00:42:31] for like how much would be too much Beetlejuice you know because you want

[00:42:34] to use them sparingly.

[00:42:35] But for me I think the biggest problem with the movie is that unlike the first

[00:42:39] one where you have this great grounded like normal emotional core in the

[00:42:45] Maitlands to contrast the weirdness of the Deets's and Beetlejuice's world

[00:42:49] you're missing that in this movie.

[00:42:51] And even though they try to give that job to Jenna Ortega who she's Lydia's

[00:42:55] daughter but she's not really any like weird or anything like that.

[00:42:59] She's just kind of a normal kid but it's not enough because the movie

[00:43:03] around them is so weird and I appreciate that.

[00:43:05] I'm glad it's a big swing honestly.

[00:43:07] It's the most interesting thing Tim Burton done in like 15 years

[00:43:10] but there's a you know it's not necessarily a high bar to cross either

[00:43:14] and so it's fun.

[00:43:16] It's enjoyable enough but since it's been 36 years since Beetle the first

[00:43:20] Beetlejuice it's like oh this is all we could get out.

[00:43:22] All right I guess you know it's not I wasn't in love with it.

[00:43:28] Are you gonna see it Nate.

[00:43:30] When it comes out on beauty I was going to go to the theater and now

[00:43:33] I'm not because of that review I'll just wait.

[00:43:35] Why would I go thanks.

[00:43:36] Thanks Brad.

[00:43:37] I mean Brad is it is like it's got like a 78% on rotten tomatoes so

[00:43:41] it's better than Brad says it is.

[00:43:43] That's well that's not how rotten tomatoes works but most people like

[00:43:47] it and you don't so you're right.

[00:43:49] Most people liked it and you said it wasn't good.

[00:43:51] You're one of the 22 people that didn't like it compared to the

[00:43:54] that's not what it that's kind of what it is anyway but yeah

[00:44:00] that was I thought Beetlejuice was just OK.

[00:44:03] Wow just OK.

[00:44:05] I watched another movie that my good buddy Nate assigned to me

[00:44:10] and Nate if you can name this movie that you gave Brad I will

[00:44:14] legitimately buy you a dinner at a steakhouse.

[00:44:18] Definitely forgot what movie did you assign Brad.

[00:44:23] OK I'm genuinely not lying.

[00:44:27] I have no recollection.

[00:44:31] Are you sure it was me that gave 100% I mean at least guess

[00:44:35] we're talking about a steak dinner.

[00:44:37] What movie. Yeah so what movie do you think you would give Brad.

[00:44:43] Harold and Kumar's Christmas special.

[00:44:45] He's not far off.

[00:44:48] When you hear the when you hear the title you'd be like the

[00:44:50] title sounds similar in a certain way.

[00:44:52] Harold the Purple Crayon.

[00:44:53] No no good mod.

[00:44:55] Willys Wonderland.

[00:44:57] Yeah I forgot I gave it.

[00:44:59] I mean by the way we did assign films like six weeks a year

[00:45:02] and a half ago yeah it's been at least 17 years.

[00:45:05] It was pre pandemic.

[00:45:06] I went back and checked.

[00:45:08] I'm like was there a more recent film that I've been in

[00:45:10] science is the one that Brad or that Ben gave me.

[00:45:13] I'm like nope no that's the one I watched four weeks ago.

[00:45:16] The one I watched four weeks ago four weeks ago.

[00:45:20] OK.

[00:45:21] That's not a song.

[00:45:22] The one I watched four weeks ago.

[00:45:23] What did you watch.

[00:45:24] Willys Wonderland.

[00:45:25] And what do you think.

[00:45:26] Oh how wonderful this movie was.

[00:45:29] It was a miracle.

[00:45:31] No this movie was pretty fun.

[00:45:33] It's definitely a very cheap movie.

[00:45:37] To the point where I was kind of frustrated and felt like

[00:45:39] they should have just spent a little more money to get a

[00:45:42] better supporting cast.

[00:45:43] It's what you can get for five million dollars.

[00:45:45] OK it's basically.

[00:45:46] I still think that's five million dollars.

[00:45:49] Nick Cage took four and a half of that.

[00:45:51] This movie is basically like Scott Pilgrim meets

[00:45:56] Five Nights at Freddy's at least with like.

[00:45:59] But this came out before Five Nights at Freddy's.

[00:46:01] Yeah actually but it's very similar story wise.

[00:46:04] Nicholas Cage plays this guy who's just driving his cool car

[00:46:08] through the small town and he's just tired flattened by

[00:46:12] what you think is a weird stray.

[00:46:15] Tire thing that the cops use to like pop your tires when

[00:46:18] it's a chase or something like that.

[00:46:20] So he's stuck there and he doesn't have enough money

[00:46:22] to pay off the repairs to his car.

[00:46:26] And so they tell him he can work it off at this

[00:46:28] fucking like.

[00:46:29] Like Spike Strip.

[00:46:30] Spike Strip that's the words I was looking for.

[00:46:32] They tell him he can work off with labor by cleaning up

[00:46:36] and being security at this like Chuck E. Cheese place

[00:46:40] called Willy's Wonderland.

[00:46:42] But it turns out there were some crazy cult people

[00:46:45] there and the spirits of those people who killed

[00:46:48] themselves are imbued into the animatronic creatures

[00:46:51] that populate Willy's Wonderland.

[00:46:54] And they keep coming to life and trying to kill

[00:46:56] Nicholas Cage and Nicholas Cage just tears the fuck out of

[00:46:59] him.

[00:47:01] What was not in the budget Brad?

[00:47:04] Good special effects for.

[00:47:06] How about dialogue?

[00:47:09] Well you know that's the fun that's kind of fun

[00:47:11] actually is I know but like that's kind of a gimmicky

[00:47:14] but like also no it adds to it.

[00:47:15] Nicholas Cage's character does not talk in this movie.

[00:47:18] You know he expresses in other ways but he's

[00:47:21] basically just drinking energy drinks that he brought

[00:47:25] with him.

[00:47:25] Playing pinball and tearing apart robots with his bare hands.

[00:47:30] And they use oil to act as blood which is kind of fun.

[00:47:33] I felt like this is kind of campy right?

[00:47:36] They're going for a campiness and I thought that worked

[00:47:37] for me so the cheapness of it felt like an 80s horror film.

[00:47:41] No it didn't have a fun like charming appeal to it.

[00:47:44] I still wish the supporting cast around him was better

[00:47:46] because they really did feel like they sucked

[00:47:49] even if they're trying for a B movie thing.

[00:47:51] Just not great actors.

[00:47:51] Yeah but they did not pay for anybody other than a cage.

[00:47:55] Clearly.

[00:47:56] But it is it's a fun movie I enjoyed watching it.

[00:47:59] You think they just had act that like extras

[00:48:00] and they're like oh shit these are actually speaking rules.

[00:48:02] You know what come on.

[00:48:04] Oh no.

[00:48:05] Brian is it yeah go ahead and give that line.

[00:48:07] Hey man you should clean up better.

[00:48:10] Hey man do you want to kiss.

[00:48:12] Hey I heard the old quote people were here.

[00:48:16] I'm gonna talk about another movie that I know

[00:48:18] at least two of the three of you.

[00:48:20] In future times there will be a coke that is cookies.

[00:48:26] Anyway gotta go.

[00:48:29] Love Ben.

[00:48:29] I'm Brian.

[00:48:32] I know two out of three of you have seen this movie

[00:48:36] that's recently came out on Netflix and why do you do this

[00:48:38] by the way you just there's always a bullshit lead up.

[00:48:42] I want you guys to get excited.

[00:48:43] I know at least two or the three of you have seen it.

[00:48:47] Just say the movie.

[00:48:48] Are you telling me how to talk.

[00:48:49] Kind of.

[00:48:50] You don't even know how to live your life without being sick

[00:48:53] by the bones but Alex has seen this film.

[00:48:55] Oh my God.

[00:48:56] You're doing it too and I find out.

[00:48:57] It came out pretty recently.

[00:48:59] I'm really sorry listener on Netflix.

[00:49:02] The hit man.

[00:49:03] It's called Rebel Ridge.

[00:49:05] Do you see it.

[00:49:06] No I haven't seen it.

[00:49:07] Oh buddy.

[00:49:08] You're missing out buddy.

[00:49:09] So this is a new thriller from Jeremy Solnir

[00:49:12] who previously directed Blue Ruin and Green Room

[00:49:15] two more outstanding thrillers.

[00:49:18] What's this one Red Ridge Rebel Ridge.

[00:49:20] Should have been Red Ridge.

[00:49:22] I'm actually I'm curious as to why he didn't maybe he doesn't

[00:49:25] didn't consider this part of like what could be like a color

[00:49:28] trilogy.

[00:49:28] Maybe.

[00:49:29] Yeah maybe.

[00:49:30] Fucking awesome.

[00:49:31] Maybe he's saving it though.

[00:49:32] No no Rebel Ridge is based on a book that was written.

[00:49:34] No I know but that's what I mean is I wonder if that's

[00:49:36] why this doesn't have the color because the other two

[00:49:39] movies are original movies and this is.

[00:49:41] No this is based on a book right in the 90s.

[00:49:43] Yeah exactly.

[00:49:44] No well I also Rebel Ridge is a Sherman Williams color.

[00:49:48] Yeah I like that.

[00:49:49] I just lied.

[00:49:50] I like the red.

[00:49:52] You lied.

[00:49:52] Yeah it's not really I just like their full full bread.

[00:49:55] They changed the name I want to.

[00:49:57] It's not an adaptation.

[00:49:58] No it's a Sherman Williams color we just talked about this.

[00:50:01] No Rebel Ridge is it was written by Jeremy Solnir.

[00:50:04] Elk blood yeah.

[00:50:05] What you guys know outside of the United States.

[00:50:07] The they don't have books.

[00:50:09] Formula 51 is called the 51st state.

[00:50:12] Isn't that weird.

[00:50:12] The 51st date.

[00:50:15] First state.

[00:50:16] The 51st state.

[00:50:18] Yeah that's the name of the film Formula 51 outside of the

[00:50:20] United States.

[00:50:22] That's weird.

[00:50:23] Huh.

[00:50:24] So.

[00:50:27] Rebel Ridge this is.

[00:50:29] It's great.

[00:50:30] It's awesome as follows a guy who's he's going to bail

[00:50:32] his brother or cousin.

[00:50:34] Cousin yep.

[00:50:35] So you can get him out of jail because if he gets

[00:50:37] transferred to this other jail he's probably going to

[00:50:39] get beat up at the very least because he's got a

[00:50:42] lot of money on him because he testified against some

[00:50:44] people.

[00:50:45] But this guy really get into why he knows that or

[00:50:49] anything like that right there's not a ton of

[00:50:51] backstory yeah but the movie is set into motion

[00:50:53] when this guy he's riding his bike to in order to

[00:50:57] get to the place to put up Bond or bail and he

[00:51:01] gets ran off the road by some small town cops

[00:51:04] and turns into a very uncomfortable racial

[00:51:08] issue because you have these white cops

[00:51:09] who are upstream this guy like shit because he's a

[00:51:11] black dude and there's just fishes of him and

[00:51:14] the disagreement and trouble that ensues escalates

[00:51:18] from there in a very Rambo first blood kind of

[00:51:22] situation and this is very much a movie as like

[00:51:25] a contemporary version of first blood as the

[00:51:27] confrontation between this guy and the cops

[00:51:29] grows and becomes something a lot bigger than

[00:51:32] it needed to be.

[00:51:33] And it comes with the racial undertones that

[00:51:36] kind of like help fuel it that have been some

[00:51:39] much more prominent in recent years for obvious

[00:51:41] reasons but Aaron Pierre is the guy who's the lead

[00:51:45] in this and he's fantastic.

[00:51:47] Don't know this guy love this guy yeah I don't

[00:51:50] know anything about him but it was like immediately

[00:51:52] going I want to see more of this guy like he

[00:51:55] was he is an action star.

[00:51:57] Yeah utterly believable from the first word that

[00:52:00] comes out of my gosh just looks the part acts

[00:52:03] the part in just a very fucking good performance

[00:52:07] and then Don Johnson as the shitty chief of

[00:52:10] police in a small town who's crooked you really

[00:52:13] don't get any better casting than that.

[00:52:15] He's just so good at being a smarmy fucking asshole.

[00:52:18] One of the other main asshole cops is played by

[00:52:21] this actor named Emery Cohen and I didn't

[00:52:23] recognize him because he obviously gained some

[00:52:26] weight and grew this like fucking stupid

[00:52:28] cop beard to be this character and he's in

[00:52:31] this movie called Brooklyn with the Sherasha

[00:52:33] Ronan which is this wonderful like period set

[00:52:36] romance like a drama and he's this charming

[00:52:41] like New York guy you know who like he

[00:52:43] she knows just playing a pudgy yeah and

[00:52:45] like it really is such a transformation

[00:52:47] I also looked at some of the roles he's taken

[00:52:49] and there was a couple of things where I

[00:52:50] didn't realize it was him so he's kind

[00:52:52] of got this like chameleon you know

[00:52:54] feature about him or he can really just fit

[00:52:56] into a lot of a variety of supporting roles

[00:52:59] because yeah I didn't I didn't recognize him

[00:53:00] at all in the role until I looked at the credits

[00:53:02] but yeah this the cast is great he just

[00:53:05] Aaron Peer has this really great vibe about him

[00:53:08] where he can be quietly intimidating but

[00:53:10] without trying to feel like he's trying

[00:53:12] to intimidate you he just has like a

[00:53:14] really strong presence that presence

[00:53:16] exactly yeah no what I loved about him

[00:53:18] too is he reminded me of that of the

[00:53:21] action stars from the 90s that he's

[00:53:23] certainly caught he's a he's a you

[00:53:25] know he's a beast but but he's

[00:53:28] not like the guy from Reacher he's not

[00:53:31] like you know they're not portraying him as

[00:53:33] he's a Hulk yeah it's just a very very

[00:53:36] in-shape person real is not like flexing

[00:53:39] or anything you know it was and that's the thing

[00:53:41] that and the other thing about this is

[00:53:43] even though it is a really large there's a

[00:53:47] lot of large action scenes in this movie

[00:53:49] and there's a lot of close-up hand-in-hand

[00:53:50] combat stuff nothing about this is

[00:53:53] bombastic or over the top as far as

[00:53:55] unbelievable yeah it is very grounded

[00:53:57] yeah absolutely and I really respect

[00:54:00] that about it as well the whole thing

[00:54:02] front to back though like it's one of

[00:54:04] those ways it's like two hours and seven

[00:54:06] minutes long sometimes I sit down and I go

[00:54:07] action movie to oh not at all I almost

[00:54:10] didn't watch it because I saw the

[00:54:12] runtime on Saturday night but no it

[00:54:15] kept going though there's not one

[00:54:17] boring part there's not one part that

[00:54:19] I was like they could escape like

[00:54:20] normally I'll say you can cut this

[00:54:22] this this I didn't want them to know

[00:54:23] it has enough turns in it where you're

[00:54:25] going oh wow I wanted to know more yeah

[00:54:27] and this has like a 95% on rotten

[00:54:29] tomatoes well earned yeah it's getting

[00:54:31] great really really well done I think a

[00:54:34] ton of people watch it on Netflix I think

[00:54:36] it's got a lot of minutes you know

[00:54:38] Netflix judges by like minutes viewed

[00:54:40] right and so it's really high up there

[00:54:43] I think people are loving this for good

[00:54:44] reason it's just it's it's a rare

[00:54:47] thing where it's got paying homage

[00:54:48] to first blood but it's doing its own

[00:54:50] thing well worth your time Alex do you

[00:54:52] think you'll watch it now that you've

[00:54:53] heard a sketch about it

[00:54:55] yeah probably it really is worth your

[00:54:57] time I think you like it it's got

[00:54:59] reach your vibes it does it's got very

[00:55:02] much reach your meets Rambo yeah yeah

[00:55:05] reach around Rambo no Rambo round

[00:55:07] Rambo round all black Betty Rambo round

[00:55:10] all black Betty second round that

[00:55:13] better job and Rambo and anything

[00:55:15] else I'm a lamb well I have one

[00:55:17] more movie but maybe you want me to

[00:55:19] talk about after you guys talked about

[00:55:20] your movies because it'll spark a

[00:55:22] lot of money

[00:55:24] Nate what are the two movies you saw

[00:55:26] yeah grandpa one of them was literally

[00:55:29] rebel rich okay okay but I did I did

[00:55:32] watch I'll give two more words to my

[00:55:34] movies that I watched one of them I've

[00:55:35] seen before but I'll give it because I

[00:55:37] really like this film and I was reminded

[00:55:39] why I like this film a film called

[00:55:41] 5050 oh yeah yeah did you guys see this

[00:55:44] one love that movie yeah I actually only

[00:55:47] saw it in 2016 no way yeah it's first

[00:55:49] time ever saw it yeah this is a great

[00:55:51] movie it's a film directed by Jonathan

[00:55:53] Levine and written by Will riser and it

[00:55:57] is it is a film about survival cancer

[00:56:00] comedy friendship starring Joseph Gordon

[00:56:04] Levitt South Rogan Anna Kendrick

[00:56:07] Bryce Dallas Howard I love this film I

[00:56:11] love and I've got a love hate thing

[00:56:13] with Jennifer or sorry Joseph Gordon

[00:56:15] Levitt I mostly love him I don't what

[00:56:18] do you hate him yeah why would you

[00:56:19] hate him I don't like when he does

[00:56:20] action what what was the film that you

[00:56:24] gave me a looper which you're just

[00:56:26] yeah what's wrong with you you're a

[00:56:28] man such a good movie there's broken

[00:56:30] man I like to looper I didn't like I

[00:56:31] think you were just in a bad mood when

[00:56:33] you watch there's very good

[00:56:34] possibility why are you so broken

[00:56:37] so many reasons did you watch premium

[00:56:40] Rush no it's a bicycle movie I

[00:56:44] like that I wouldn't use it as the

[00:56:45] best example but I like it I like it

[00:56:47] okay it's fine but I'm just struggling

[00:56:50] to think of other action movies starring

[00:56:52] this is a film of course love it I'm

[00:56:53] sorry this is a film that really

[00:56:55] Hills Cop actual inception he's great

[00:56:57] but inception he's more thinking like

[00:56:59] he's a thinking man and such he's

[00:57:01] not an action he does he does the

[00:57:02] steer the elevator rotating I buy

[00:57:06] that though he's not action enough

[00:57:09] like I just I don't buy him as the

[00:57:11] alright that wasn't too much action

[00:57:12] for me here we go alright Nate

[00:57:15] the name one more action movie that you

[00:57:17] seen him in just just just go ahead

[00:57:21] when you said you said out loud on

[00:57:23] he's got to bring up his IMDB hate him

[00:57:25] when he's an action those yeah Joe

[00:57:27] rise over the cold you know even you

[00:57:29] didn't know it was him in that yeah I

[00:57:31] Joe who did you play who did you play

[00:57:33] don't look who's he play Rex Lewis

[00:57:36] no he lays Cobra Rex Lewis no Cobra

[00:57:39] commander also is literally Rex

[00:57:41] Lewis also it's a wreck Lewis G. G. I. Joe

[00:57:45] right now the Cobra commander that's

[00:57:48] Rex Lewis he said G. I. Joe rise of the

[00:57:52] Cobra yeah there's a gun there's no

[00:57:55] the rise of the Cobra the rise of the

[00:58:01] also dressing what doesn't even do

[00:58:03] action in that movie he's just standing

[00:58:04] around being intimidating with the

[00:58:06] man I had a second to look at the

[00:58:08] Wikipedia page I had to pick some

[00:58:10] of the trash panda so 5050 if not seen

[00:58:15] it is a film that makes me cry it may

[00:58:18] might make you emotional it is about

[00:58:20] friendship it is about how to

[00:58:23] navigate hardships with friendships I

[00:58:25] thought Seth Brogan was fantastic in

[00:58:27] this also don't let that deter you

[00:58:29] there's there's a very short list of

[00:58:31] movies that don't make Nate cry

[00:58:33] that's true but this also has comedy

[00:58:35] it is it is everything I love about

[00:58:37] film and TV where it will give you

[00:58:40] every bit of emotion this film and it

[00:58:44] culminates in I don't know there's

[00:58:48] just a there's just a real heart

[00:58:50] break around this film came out in

[00:58:53] 2011 right before I had my lung

[00:58:56] removed I they thought I had cancer

[00:58:58] and I remember this film really

[00:59:00] touching me then like as a as a kind

[00:59:02] of a way to navigate sadness and

[00:59:04] and it just does such a good job

[00:59:06] and I so I'm watching it 10 12 13

[00:59:08] years later and it still just hits

[00:59:11] right yeah I really love this film

[00:59:12] very good movie I like it a lot and

[00:59:15] then the other film I saw was given

[00:59:17] to me by my friend Ben Conowitz and

[00:59:22] Ben knows that I love Jason Bateman

[00:59:25] because I do I love Jason he a son

[00:59:28] and this is a film directed by

[00:59:31] Jason Bateman starring Jason

[00:59:33] Bateman produced by Jason Bateman

[00:59:35] and I saw this movie in Chicago with

[00:59:37] Jason Bateman in the audience that

[00:59:39] Q&A afterwards it's true Teen Wolf

[00:59:41] to know this movie so Jason Bateman

[00:59:44] is stars is this middle-aged we call

[00:59:47] eighth grader it's called Bad Words

[00:59:49] and he drops out of eighth grade

[00:59:52] right was the eighth grade I think

[00:59:54] right yeah so the premises that he

[00:59:56] and he enters this spelling being

[00:59:58] and as a grown man as a grown man

[01:00:02] so that's funny enough right but

[01:00:04] the premises he's got eligibility

[01:00:06] left because he dropped out of school

[01:00:08] at eighth grade even at 30 something

[01:00:10] he can join back none says there's

[01:00:12] something can't be in a spelling

[01:00:13] being yeah air but rules right of

[01:00:15] course I love because he was Teen Wolf

[01:00:19] to yeah it applies yeah this film

[01:00:22] has the perfect tone for me

[01:00:24] it's wonderful this film so Jason

[01:00:28] Bateman character filthy an asshole

[01:00:32] just a jerk filthy jerk he befriends

[01:00:36] kind of you know again because the

[01:00:38] much of the cast or much of the scenes

[01:00:41] is around these eighth graders right

[01:00:43] all twelve and thirteen year old boys

[01:00:44] and girls and so competing in the

[01:00:46] national scholastic spelling be

[01:00:48] championship so there is a kid a kid

[01:00:53] that is essentially his number one

[01:00:54] competitor that also wants to use

[01:00:56] other things going on Indian American

[01:00:59] as his parents are clearly very strict

[01:01:01] yep and he wants to win this as well

[01:01:04] course they become friends and they're

[01:01:05] not sure if their friends are for

[01:01:06] competitors anyway there's a lot of

[01:01:09] dynamic around that in relationship

[01:01:10] it's like a there is a lot of the

[01:01:12] keep your enemies close type thing

[01:01:15] let me give you one of the things I

[01:01:17] love about this film because it was

[01:01:19] a reminder because I say this

[01:01:21] because I watch fifty fifty because

[01:01:23] of this film in this film is Phillip

[01:01:26] Baker Hall who died I think last

[01:01:28] year I think Phillip Baker Hall is

[01:01:32] a character I would say character

[01:01:35] actor yeah I think he was I mean I

[01:01:38] don't think he was ever a main leading

[01:01:40] guy but he was a character actor and I

[01:01:43] loved Phillip Baker Hall and fifty fifty

[01:01:45] and I've seen him in so many different

[01:01:46] things throughout his you know he died

[01:01:48] at ninety like last year the year

[01:01:50] before yeah yeah and so he had been

[01:01:52] working for a long time and he is in

[01:01:53] this film and he's just great in this

[01:01:55] film like I he's not like great

[01:01:58] because he's affable and lovable but like

[01:02:00] I just love every time he's on on

[01:02:03] screen because he has for me a

[01:02:06] connection to the camera that I really

[01:02:08] really love and so from top to bottom

[01:02:12] I genuinely am embarrassed I didn't see

[01:02:16] this film because I loved it it was

[01:02:17] it was perfectly me it's a really

[01:02:21] funny but also heartfelt there's a

[01:02:24] lot of complicated I love the

[01:02:26] complicated nature of it it there's

[01:02:28] of course parental dynamics there right

[01:02:31] actually much of the film is about

[01:02:32] parental dynamics not just about Jason

[01:02:34] Bateman's character but also about the

[01:02:36] kids expectations and anytime you

[01:02:39] talk about parental dynamics I'm gonna

[01:02:40] love it and so just really really

[01:02:43] lovely film good man I'm glad you

[01:02:44] loved it does it does it crossover

[01:02:46] with any of the other bad universe

[01:02:47] movies go on bad boy or bad Santa

[01:02:52] bad company yeah they're all moms

[01:02:54] they're all the same universe Cameron

[01:02:57] that's a shared universe is the

[01:02:59] connection bad boys for life mm-hmm

[01:03:02] wouldn't that be funny no the Phillip

[01:03:03] Picker Hall was in all of those

[01:03:06] ties them all together exactly

[01:03:09] Catherine Hahn is in this yes Catherine

[01:03:11] is I love you Catherine Hahn we do

[01:03:14] you really love Catherine I really

[01:03:15] do she's just a sweet angel

[01:03:18] she's fantastic yeah if you haven't

[01:03:20] seen the visit that's a that's a nice

[01:03:23] horror movie and like Shyamalan kind of

[01:03:26] a resurgence for him and she's in that

[01:03:27] she's wonderful in it as the mom mm-hmm

[01:03:30] so although definitely I loved her I know

[01:03:33] definitely see bad words is on Netflix

[01:03:34] you can watch it there yes tada

[01:03:38] right Betty bear what did you see

[01:03:40] alright well let's just take our time

[01:03:43] bend the bear here he comes he's

[01:03:46] got movies for everyone bend the bear

[01:03:50] what has he seen he's seen more than

[01:03:53] your uncle Jean

[01:04:04] I'm losing I'm gonna run down I'm just real quick buddy

[01:04:07] well don't just like be like I love the run down

[01:04:10] to run down pretty quick and then I'll go back

[01:04:12] and talk about a couple of rock interrupt you

[01:04:15] when we want to watch Mr. D's okay now

[01:04:17] let's talk about this the original or

[01:04:20] that I'm saying now watch the other one

[01:04:22] Mr. D's goes to Washington yeah I

[01:04:24] watched I watched Mr. D's with why no no

[01:04:27] writer I tell you this I don't hate Mr. D's

[01:04:29] no neither do I not the biggest fan oh I

[01:04:32] actually kind of like this is a little

[01:04:33] charm to this for me was when he started

[01:04:35] to go down yeah this is definitely a

[01:04:37] I didn't hate it yeah I watched hustle

[01:04:41] again I've seen that previously but I

[01:04:42] did hustle and flow nope just hustle

[01:04:44] this just the Adam Sandler basketball

[01:04:46] one hey did you want you guys watch his

[01:04:48] newest special I did was a good it is

[01:04:51] it is it's also weird it's so yeah

[01:04:54] directed by one of the safety brothers yeah

[01:04:55] and actually and so and like I think what

[01:04:57] I appreciate about it though is that

[01:04:58] because they have these bookends and they

[01:05:00] shot it very cinematically so that it

[01:05:01] feels kind of like a safety brothers movie

[01:05:03] which is like uncut gems that and

[01:05:05] Sam there was in and they kind of

[01:05:07] play out this like scenario where like

[01:05:09] it's Adam Sandler playing himself but

[01:05:11] like there's clearly some like actors

[01:05:12] in the scenes creating like it's

[01:05:15] tension very very it's it's what I

[01:05:17] don't like Nate it's the kids chaos it's

[01:05:19] chaos and it's like uncomfortable yeah

[01:05:20] making it uncomfortable on purpose

[01:05:22] our graph see

[01:05:24] trying to sign and it's like you know

[01:05:27] there's they're like using kids to like

[01:05:29] get the autograph and he's uncomfortable

[01:05:31] and then it's like the you try to

[01:05:33] go on stage and then so much trying to

[01:05:35] give him the science stuff for like a

[01:05:36] charity auction he's got to go and

[01:05:37] it's like and it doesn't have a

[01:05:39] sweatshirt that he needs it just very

[01:05:40] uncomfortable the whole time I'm like

[01:05:42] but it's not so but I just want

[01:05:44] to laugh but at the whole time that's

[01:05:45] just the book and this but but the

[01:05:47] special itself what they did is and

[01:05:50] Adam knew that they were going to do

[01:05:51] some stuff he's didn't know what they were

[01:05:52] gonna do but they created these

[01:05:54] mishaps to happen during the show

[01:05:56] that Adam Sandler had to kind of roll

[01:05:59] with so like the the main monitor

[01:06:01] wasn't working on stage so they couldn't

[01:06:02] show graphics that were supposed to

[01:06:03] go along with some of the songs or

[01:06:05] that's what they portrayed anyway

[01:06:06] the dog ran in on the stage

[01:06:09] and like into the audience is like

[01:06:11] what the fuck's an argument in the

[01:06:12] audience where that people

[01:06:13] told each other fuck off so guess what

[01:06:15] though that actually was a real thing

[01:06:18] that happened that they did not stage

[01:06:20] really yeah and and and the safety

[01:06:23] said he was like I was thinking to

[01:06:24] myself oh my god he's gonna think that

[01:06:25] I did this but in an interview it was

[01:06:28] a Q&A after the thing Adam said that

[01:06:30] he's like oh no there was a different

[01:06:31] energy about that that it that felt

[01:06:33] real because in the audience like

[01:06:35] they were basically like somebody was

[01:06:37] laughing you know and then hey man

[01:06:39] shut the fuck up yeah and they

[01:06:41] man I'm just laughing you shut the

[01:06:42] fuck up and it escalated and I'm

[01:06:45] thinking oh Jesus this is all scripted

[01:06:47] bullshit no like oh that's the one that

[01:06:49] was the one I was scripted and Adam

[01:06:50] said there's on on stage going hey guys

[01:06:53] hey we're all just here having a good

[01:06:55] time and then he even made a callback

[01:06:56] to it later a joke about yeah but if

[01:07:01] you like the hundred percent fresh this

[01:07:02] is very much it like just as good

[01:07:05] you know he does original songs he

[01:07:06] does weird absurd abstract bits where

[01:07:09] he like makes up stories that are

[01:07:11] like fantastical and weird but he also

[01:07:13] tells them in a funny way I personally

[01:07:15] didn't need the chaos aspect of it

[01:07:19] sure because for me I enjoy his comedy

[01:07:24] enough where I don't need and I know

[01:07:26] what they were doing right you're your

[01:07:28] play with the format you're winding up

[01:07:30] tension a little bit yeah you get a

[01:07:31] laugh and it's a release and so you're

[01:07:33] playing that valve and I get that I

[01:07:35] don't need that though no there was

[01:07:36] way too much of it I don't disagree I

[01:07:37] don't think that ever really

[01:07:38] overshadowed the special itself

[01:07:40] I just every time I was doing I was like

[01:07:41] what after the first two things that

[01:07:43] went bad I'm like okay well what else is

[01:07:45] gonna go bad but yeah I just I didn't

[01:07:46] need necessarily after like the second

[01:07:49] time they did it I just kept waiting

[01:07:50] for like the next bad thing to happen

[01:07:51] rather than being able to focus really

[01:07:53] on his comedy and so I'm smart enough

[01:07:55] to understand what they were doing also

[01:07:56] I didn't need it yeah I guess that's

[01:07:57] my I think it's just you know them

[01:08:00] wanting to do something a little bit

[01:08:01] different and I respect both of

[01:08:03] them enough to like let them do that

[01:08:05] and be that be fine with it I just

[01:08:06] wish there was a version of it where

[01:08:07] I could just watch his set because I

[01:08:09] say the comedy I guess that in my

[01:08:11] defense the comedy is good enough to

[01:08:13] stand on its own it doesn't necessarily

[01:08:15] need the the shock no for sure I get

[01:08:17] that you know that's all he's he's a

[01:08:19] hundred percent fresh didn't have any

[01:08:20] of that it was wonderful yeah and

[01:08:21] nobody of that the sandwich material

[01:08:23] here is great no yeah cuz let's focus

[01:08:25] on that it for a second it's really

[01:08:27] fun yeah it was really really funny

[01:08:29] I could have done without the Rob

[01:08:30] Schneider cameo oh wow that was so

[01:08:32] weird because the thing is Rob

[01:08:34] Schneider just comes up and he just

[01:08:35] does a honest to God Elvis impersonation

[01:08:38] like that like and that's it yeah like

[01:08:39] he's being an earnest about it like

[01:08:41] there's nothing really funny about it

[01:08:42] like they people laugh at me yeah he's

[01:08:44] very sweaty people laugh at him when

[01:08:46] like he shakes his ass and stuff but it

[01:08:47] is an earnest and if I must if I will

[01:08:49] say I'm not bad but I don't need to

[01:08:53] see Rob Schneider doing that on this

[01:08:54] especially because I know who he is

[01:08:55] yeah it doesn't add anything and like

[01:08:57] at least when he popped up in a

[01:08:58] hundred percent fresh it was like

[01:08:59] part of Adam Sandler's song and he

[01:09:01] wasn't around for very long but

[01:09:02] this is goes on for too long it's

[01:09:04] not funny and it serves no purpose and

[01:09:06] also Rob Schneider is a horrible human

[01:09:08] being right yeah I just don't understand

[01:09:10] why he chooses to be so loyal to like

[01:09:13] fine you want to still be friends with

[01:09:14] the Mof camera but like right you know

[01:09:16] that bringing him I mean he's got

[01:09:17] people around him he's got a team around

[01:09:19] him yeah to be able to somebody's

[01:09:21] telling them dude did Rob Schneider

[01:09:24] save Adam Sandler's life at a certain

[01:09:25] point is that what this is probably

[01:09:27] like give me a kidney so there are

[01:09:29] certainly people that are on the

[01:09:31] edge of some of that that you could

[01:09:32] include right like we still hang out with

[01:09:34] Brad yeah I mean Alex is here

[01:09:37] right now on the show why that's true

[01:09:38] you know but we have just we know

[01:09:41] what your skills feels weird I am friends

[01:09:42] that I'm loyal to even though like if I

[01:09:46] like met them today and we had like a

[01:09:48] brief conversation about current events

[01:09:50] then I would just walk away from them

[01:09:52] so everybody has a Rob Schneider

[01:09:58] in their life that's true yeah Tim

[01:09:59] Gust

[01:10:02] but joking Tim I love you

[01:10:04] yeah so anyway I'll keep going

[01:10:06] so I watched American Psycho

[01:10:08] good for the first time in a long time

[01:10:09] okay and I saw yourself picked up

[01:10:12] a little bit

[01:10:14] now I picked up on quite a few things

[01:10:15] that obviously I didn't see 20 years ago when I first saw it

[01:10:17] yeah I really did enjoy

[01:10:20] his performance more yeah Christian

[01:10:22] Bell is wonderful of course

[01:10:25] saw inside out too yeah what do you think

[01:10:27] I like that one I like it a lot

[01:10:29] it's okay shut up Alex it's good it's

[01:10:32] I don't think there's a debate though I think the first one's

[01:10:34] still way oh no of course infinitely better yeah

[01:10:36] so not infinite I just heard that like maybe

[01:10:39] it was very very good the second one is

[01:10:41] almost as good as the and I don't believe

[01:10:43] that I think that the first one is like

[01:10:45] it's a 90 no no I mean I think the first

[01:10:48] one is when I think the first one is

[01:10:49] Pixar's best movie and I think that this

[01:10:51] is doesn't come necessarily close but I

[01:10:54] don't think it's like far worse than

[01:10:56] the first it's just it's just a different

[01:10:58] movie it's just I is for as much as it's

[01:11:01] sorry is first much it's the same idea

[01:11:03] right there's just so much more going on

[01:11:06] in this one with all of the channeling

[01:11:09] of the so much more going on in Riley's

[01:11:11] life been complicated teenage

[01:11:13] reversing to the back of the mind and

[01:11:15] all that like a lot more I like that

[01:11:17] it's but it's just a different movie

[01:11:19] it's just like I think that the idea

[01:11:21] that you had more of a more of a

[01:11:25] limited cast of characters in the first

[01:11:26] one actually was a benefit for the movie

[01:11:28] because you got to really delve into

[01:11:30] those so you have a hard time keeping track

[01:11:32] of things I will say I'll go back to my

[01:11:35] initial critique the only thing that

[01:11:38] didn't happen in this film that happened

[01:11:40] in the first one is they didn't have

[01:11:42] that gut-wrenching being wrong type

[01:11:44] of scene yeah right I was expecting

[01:11:46] something to really make me cry and

[01:11:48] this is not this didn't have that

[01:11:50] maybe it's I heard it was going to

[01:11:51] make me cry it was still emotionally

[01:11:52] resonant for me but it didn't have

[01:11:54] that one scene where it's like God

[01:11:56] I'm gonna cry because I think and maybe

[01:11:58] that's my fault for watching a little too

[01:11:59] late because I had heard that oh my god

[01:12:01] kids are gonna love it and adults are

[01:12:03] gonna cry and I was like I didn't it

[01:12:05] wasn't not as as emotionally poignant

[01:12:07] as the first one it's fine I will say

[01:12:09] this where it was poignant was talking

[01:12:11] about the human and child

[01:12:14] adolescent psychological experiment right

[01:12:15] where kids are going through these

[01:12:18] experiments yeah and I thought it did a

[01:12:19] great job of personifying this idea

[01:12:22] I think maybe Alex and Ben just haven't

[01:12:25] really reconciled their childhood trauma

[01:12:27] and they're just really like bearing it

[01:12:29] down like likely yeah I'm just kind of

[01:12:32] over picks our color blobs teaching me

[01:12:34] about basic human emotions like I

[01:12:36] feel the emotions like I've seen a lot

[01:12:40] of color blobs have you tried Jackie

[01:12:42] Dan last year because let me tell you

[01:12:45] it pushes them way down last year I

[01:12:48] watched him now I will a whole force

[01:12:50] metaphor about an element they come out

[01:12:52] and some violent tendencies

[01:12:53] also now Alex isn't into elemental

[01:12:56] relationship I'm not in good

[01:12:59] like I have not seen it doesn't like

[01:13:01] interracial relationships was it not good

[01:13:03] Alex and like no elementary you wouldn't

[01:13:05] you wouldn't like to be you wouldn't

[01:13:07] like it because we still do you have

[01:13:09] you don't have a romantic heart I'm

[01:13:11] racist against fire elementary was

[01:13:13] fine it was way inside out to was

[01:13:15] far better but elementary was this

[01:13:18] coming from a guy that loves utopia

[01:13:20] though so I think that I love to do

[01:13:22] I'm pretty sure so what it was what's it

[01:13:24] say to me Nate's elemental when he was

[01:13:25] going through a divorce yeah I'm the one

[01:13:28] that cried in Barbie because Barbie

[01:13:29] wouldn't love Ken oh boy okay well also

[01:13:32] I saw record again the boys wanted to

[01:13:36] watch that nice watch record Ralph

[01:13:38] movie you know what movie we watched

[01:13:40] as a family Atlantis the Disney's

[01:13:43] Atlantis it is but it's no treasure

[01:13:48] planet it's not treasure planet is

[01:13:49] badass yeah that's definitely the

[01:13:52] the better of the two Atlantis has

[01:13:54] some interesting moving parts and cool

[01:13:56] animation but the story is like not

[01:13:58] quite it's kind of held together yeah

[01:14:00] flimsily I will say the cast of

[01:14:02] characters is fun yes for sure I agree

[01:14:05] with the guy that has the TNT in the

[01:14:07] dynamite yeah just these are fun

[01:14:09] characters yep I watched nobody again

[01:14:11] for like the fifth time I just love

[01:14:13] that movie what's falling down oh okay

[01:14:16] you know what that is guys that's with

[01:14:19] Mike Mikey D Michael Douglas yeah

[01:14:21] social he plays the angry dude in the

[01:14:24] tie right well yeah when he basically

[01:14:25] loses his mind and says fuck it and then

[01:14:28] takes a bag of oozees that he gets

[01:14:29] yeah and goes into it. This is a very good movie

[01:14:35] it's it's very different than anything

[01:14:38] relief that I've seen since the main

[01:14:42] character the protagonist of the film is

[01:14:45] also the antagonist of the film yeah so

[01:14:47] it's a very nuanced thing it's honestly

[01:14:49] this is hard for an actor to do Michael

[01:14:52] Douglas does a brilliant job of

[01:14:54] technically being the bad guy and he's

[01:14:56] not like a venom anti-hero yeah he's a

[01:14:59] bad guy but it's he thinks he's the

[01:15:02] good guy right and wow what a

[01:15:03] performance and Robert DeVolple is great

[01:15:06] it's and then there is there's a bit

[01:15:08] of like when you're watching it some

[01:15:10] of the sit you're like yeah I just

[01:15:12] wish somebody would like it's 1020 it's

[01:15:16] 1031 yeah I can't get breakfast at

[01:15:18] McDonald's are you fucking kidding like

[01:15:19] you just see his his rage so one of the

[01:15:23] things about the film that I didn't

[01:15:25] recognize when I watched the first

[01:15:26] time that I watched it this time is how

[01:15:28] much they really make the heat of the

[01:15:32] day a character in the film they

[01:15:34] really they do that wavy yeah you know

[01:15:38] whatever you want to call that for

[01:15:39] the cinematography and it and the

[01:15:41] sweat and everything you it everybody

[01:15:43] is pushed to their limit because of

[01:15:45] this yeah everybody's already raw with

[01:15:47] emotion because of it and now he is

[01:15:49] just losing his fucking shit with this

[01:15:51] that choice to make the heat a real part

[01:15:54] of it I didn't notice that the first

[01:15:55] time I saw the movie and it was great

[01:15:57] it's almost like the heat was a character

[01:15:59] it's almost like the heat is on the

[01:16:01] heat is on I knew you're gonna do

[01:16:03] that movie we're talking about again

[01:16:04] falling down for the listener we just

[01:16:08] took like a ten minute break so the

[01:16:09] make could be right speed I thought

[01:16:13] we're talking about the lion there's two

[01:16:14] piece of the heat played a main character

[01:16:16] famously famously hot yeah it was very

[01:16:20] hot the African Savannah is really hot

[01:16:24] the BC y good anyway I watched men in

[01:16:28] black good I watch a zombie land the

[01:16:31] first all right I watch a zombie land

[01:16:33] double tap sure I watched major pain

[01:16:35] wait what major pain that's a classic

[01:16:39] honestly comedy they don't really make

[01:16:41] anymore it's it's got like an 11% of

[01:16:43] rotten tomatoes yeah it's a very silly

[01:16:45] movie but I love it there are a lot of

[01:16:48] lines I'm not joking I haven't laughed

[01:16:50] that hard in years which works and I'm

[01:16:53] really wrecking my brain right now

[01:16:55] but it's it's I think one of the

[01:16:57] times where he he basically a little

[01:17:00] kid is scared with the littlest boy is

[01:17:03] scared about something and he goes on

[01:17:05] and on about how he's killing Charlie

[01:17:07] yeah and just ripping their skulls out

[01:17:10] and of course I had a grenade and I put

[01:17:12] it in his ass exploded and he's like

[01:17:14] yelling at this kid who's having

[01:17:16] nightmares and the love interest walks

[01:17:18] in the room was like major pain no

[01:17:19] and he's like what he needs to know

[01:17:23] fucking psycho right yeah it's pretty

[01:17:25] funny Hillary yeah is beautiful

[01:17:29] calm down she is gorgeous yes also

[01:17:33] she is so full of red flags if she's

[01:17:36] interested in a guy like nature

[01:17:38] killing is my I'm sorry he's business

[01:17:41] is good it is good

[01:17:49] I love it really really laughs so if

[01:17:53] you haven't watched major pain in a

[01:17:54] while do yourself a favorite I used to

[01:17:58] watch that movie a lot when I was a

[01:17:59] kid I would rent the tape a lot from

[01:18:01] the library was one of the ones that I

[01:18:02] we didn't own but I kept repeatedly

[01:18:04] getting into our darn it's so freaking

[01:18:06] good I mean it good as a it's so funny

[01:18:10] yeah put it that way I have the same

[01:18:13] feeling about Sergeant Bilko actually

[01:18:15] oh sure I don't think it's particularly

[01:18:16] good but I enjoy watching sure maybe

[01:18:20] just something about military

[01:18:21] companies like is that like a little

[01:18:23] periscope same thing for renaissance

[01:18:24] man I love down periscope do you

[01:18:26] really I really do is that cozy

[01:18:27] karma yes yeah and Rob Schneider

[01:18:31] oh boy that's why yeah so you give

[01:18:33] him I'm sorry I watch it for French

[01:18:35] Stewart mm-hmm and that's it yeah and

[01:18:39] then I watched payback with Mel Gibson

[01:18:41] yeah okay it's terrible is it really

[01:18:46] actually I remember liking it when I

[01:18:48] was like it's not good it's way too

[01:18:51] long it's boring there's not a lot

[01:18:53] going on to rain 90 minutes and that

[01:18:56] that's saying something then it's just

[01:18:58] well the problem for that movie

[01:18:59] honestly is that kind of like falling

[01:19:01] down the protagonist is almost the

[01:19:04] antagonist he's not a good guy right

[01:19:05] but there's there's legitimately no they

[01:19:08] don't give him any redeeming qualities

[01:19:09] at all it's just that he's kind of

[01:19:12] defending I mean literally a hooker

[01:19:14] that he used to hook up with a little

[01:19:16] bit that's maybe a little so good that

[01:19:17] he used to know my god the tagline

[01:19:20] on the poster for the film is get

[01:19:23] ready to root for the bad guy and

[01:19:25] you don't who fed as an age well

[01:19:30] still not root for the bad guy

[01:19:33] because the whole premise is everybody

[01:19:35] keeps thinking that they owe him a hundred

[01:19:38] and thirty thousand dollars and he keeps

[01:19:39] corrected them to seventy thousand

[01:19:40] yeah and he keeps saying what's wrong

[01:19:42] with you guys seventy thousand dollars

[01:19:44] and it's they beat it so over the

[01:19:47] head there it's just so stupid I

[01:19:50] don't if there's no redeeming

[01:19:51] qualities about this movie I didn't

[01:19:52] like it at all wow same thing with

[01:19:54] the get Carter oh remake of the

[01:19:57] 1961 I actually haven't seen it don't

[01:20:00] it's horrible and the lone one terrible

[01:20:02] that's not that terrible do they get

[01:20:04] him though they do I think I like

[01:20:06] payback more than I like it Carter I

[01:20:08] think payback technically is the

[01:20:09] better film and that's not saying

[01:20:11] much yeah get Carter has an 11%

[01:20:13] terrible rebel Ridge of course I

[01:20:16] watched the original Beetle Beetle

[01:20:17] Juice on the way because I want to

[01:20:18] watch the Beatles Beetle Juice I

[01:20:20] watched the bird cage oh I've seen

[01:20:23] it 20 years oh man so good it's

[01:20:26] really holds up here's the weird

[01:20:28] thing about the bird cage in my

[01:20:29] opinion at the end of the movie do

[01:20:31] you remember what happens right at

[01:20:32] the end of the movie Brad yeah

[01:20:34] Gene Hackman comes out in drag and

[01:20:37] they leaving the club and then he

[01:20:38] tells his driver to meet him at the

[01:20:40] corner and the driver is like never

[01:20:42] million dollars and then what

[01:20:43] happens and then the camera pans

[01:20:45] away and the movie ends that's it

[01:20:47] yeah so oh and then there's a

[01:20:49] wedding during the credits the

[01:20:50] whole premise of this film is I

[01:20:54] so here's what I thought they were

[01:20:56] gonna do versus what they did do I

[01:20:57] thought that the conservative

[01:21:00] senator would finally come around

[01:21:02] and be like oh gay people aren't bad

[01:21:03] they don't have that ending and it's

[01:21:06] not good or bad I'm just saying they

[01:21:07] don't do that where normally that's

[01:21:10] the point of a movie like that is like

[01:21:11] to show that people can grow nope

[01:21:13] they just kind of end the film with

[01:21:14] that yeah we help the guy who hates

[01:21:16] us alright he's good 1996 don't

[01:21:19] ask don't tell was still well it's

[01:21:20] what actually I kind of it was a

[01:21:22] weird ending to me I kind of think

[01:21:23] it's better to not like have leaned

[01:21:24] into that and like had that

[01:21:25] reconciliation because like it's even

[01:21:28] though it's not explicitly said

[01:21:29] having the wedding during the

[01:21:31] credits means they did allow it

[01:21:32] to happen and there is some kind of

[01:21:34] understanding there that's fair I

[01:21:36] just I think that there maybe could

[01:21:38] have been a little bit more of a

[01:21:39] lot of grown yeah sometimes I think

[01:21:41] people forget in 30 years how much

[01:21:43] things have changed but I mean you

[01:21:45] get your credit where credits do

[01:21:48] even though you know it's is it

[01:21:50] even I don't even know if it's

[01:21:51] even appropriate for you know a

[01:21:52] straight person to play gay and I

[01:21:54] don't know what the what the rule is

[01:21:55] now but but Robin Williams is

[01:21:57] tremendous no he's great because

[01:21:59] Lane is good I know but Hank

[01:22:02] is area is picture perfect oh he's

[01:22:04] hilarious in this movie and he's

[01:22:06] not gay but like he plays it so

[01:22:08] well he's fun he's phenomenal

[01:22:09] smooth as well I love the

[01:22:10] burkeige I think cage is good

[01:22:12] it's it's yeah it's a fantastic

[01:22:14] comedy from that era it really is

[01:22:16] Nathan Lane Nathan Lane trying to

[01:22:18] be straight and like walking and

[01:22:20] just the stuff of the restaurant is

[01:22:22] is better than some of the stuff

[01:22:24] from Williams is doing the part of

[01:22:25] it's so good one part that always

[01:22:27] makes me laugh out loud is when

[01:22:29] Nathan Lane gets upset because he

[01:22:30] thinks Robin Williams has kind of

[01:22:32] like maybe hooking back up with the

[01:22:35] woman who was pregnant with his

[01:22:36] son and when Nathan Lane leaves

[01:22:38] and he gets in the car and he

[01:22:39] accidentally honks the horn and

[01:22:41] the way he screams is amazing

[01:22:43] it's hilarious it's awesome

[01:22:46] Nathan Lane's career you think I

[01:22:48] mean a lion king in that I think

[01:22:50] he was a lion king

[01:22:52] lion king 90s mid 90s man

[01:22:54] he was pretty famous around this time

[01:22:56] I think that this I mean I think that

[01:22:58] he's still Stuart Little as I mean

[01:23:00] equally as famous but I think yeah at

[01:23:01] the time like that everyone like suddenly

[01:23:03] knew who Nathan Lane was I would say

[01:23:05] that Nathan Lane in them in the

[01:23:07] mid 90s like the 94 through 97

[01:23:09] era he would have been probably

[01:23:12] 10 times as famous as he is now

[01:23:14] I mean people know who he is Brad

[01:23:16] but he's not super famous and he's

[01:23:18] they know who he is too because he is a

[01:23:20] Broadway legend as well I think he's

[01:23:22] still pretty but mainstream he's not

[01:23:23] really doing a ton right now but I

[01:23:26] think that's murders in the building

[01:23:27] maybe but I think that's just because

[01:23:28] that's the time when he made a name for

[01:23:30] himself and it's okay to say that he

[01:23:32] was more famous but he's still as famous

[01:23:34] now no he's not it was more famous than

[01:23:35] I disagree and I was saying the height

[01:23:37] of his career like that's when he was

[01:23:39] producing some incredible stuff I was

[01:23:42] I watched Free Fire with

[01:23:46] Middleston on Army Hammer it's a good

[01:23:48] movie it's good movie it said 90

[01:23:50] minute shootout based in this in the

[01:23:51] 1970s all it is is a shootout the whole

[01:23:53] time all right lots of great

[01:23:56] characters in that one I watched Sonic

[01:23:58] Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time

[01:23:59] hey there you go I like Sonic the Hedgehog

[01:24:01] I liked it is it fun to watch

[01:24:03] with the boys yeah but it's for

[01:24:06] kids film it's fun I like and Jim

[01:24:08] Kerry is obviously pulling out all the

[01:24:09] stops as what's his name Eggman

[01:24:12] Eggman it's Robotic

[01:24:14] just Mars is great right

[01:24:16] he's just not bad

[01:24:18] Ben Schwartz is a great job for the voice

[01:24:20] of the oh absolutely I love Ben Schwartz

[01:24:22] is great as the voice and I like

[01:24:24] that Jim Kerry is going over but I think

[01:24:25] the second one is better than the first one

[01:24:27] but my biggest frustration is

[01:24:30] that they couldn't really have a real

[01:24:32] hedgehog no they couldn't really figure

[01:24:33] out a way to like make the story make

[01:24:35] sense for Sonic as a character because

[01:24:37] like he spends too much time sitting in

[01:24:38] the car with James Marsden when he can run

[01:24:41] this fucking as fast as the wind yeah but

[01:24:43] he doesn't know how to get San Francisco

[01:24:44] this isn't making any sense you know so is it

[01:24:46] film let's let it be

[01:24:49] films films can make sense they have

[01:24:51] the donut Lord you just gotta hang out

[01:24:53] don't learn I just I was the woman I

[01:24:56] wasn't expecting

[01:24:56] any more than but come on don't

[01:24:58] you got that one I got that one

[01:25:00] don't learn who's the lady what's he

[01:25:02] called a lady don't lady no

[01:25:05] don't anyway the rings but I wasn't

[01:25:07] expecting anything from that film so

[01:25:09] going into it like oh this isn't bad at all

[01:25:11] like I enjoyed it I rewatched

[01:25:13] the flash for the second time

[01:25:16] oh okay okay

[01:25:17] I know you're

[01:25:19] I enjoyed the

[01:25:21] the

[01:25:22] Barry and Barry Barry and Barry

[01:25:25] you're still hate the chrono

[01:25:27] credible famous defender of Ezra Miller

[01:25:29] oh yeah no what he can do

[01:25:31] wrong personal why what did you do

[01:25:33] no but it's

[01:25:35] Michael Keaton is great as Batman

[01:25:37] obviously um George

[01:25:39] Clinton

[01:25:41] okay I

[01:25:42] watched wet hot American summer for the first

[01:25:44] time you've never seen what had American

[01:25:46] summer never seen it we're going to

[01:25:48] judge you so bad right now no wow

[01:25:51] wow it's good

[01:25:53] oh

[01:25:55] calm down

[01:25:56] what the fuck man it's good

[01:25:58] what it's like why don't you like comedy

[01:26:01] yeah this is like it's good this

[01:26:03] movie so good you're an asshole

[01:26:04] no no it's good is it because of Paul

[01:26:06] Rudd you hate Paul Rudd only a couple

[01:26:08] did you get it oh my god

[01:26:10] you didn't get it oh that's that that's

[01:26:12] why have you ever seen they came together

[01:26:14] I don't think you're in on the joke buddy

[01:26:15] it's alright it's alright you don't you don't get it

[01:26:18] I don't think I'm a Reno you don't

[01:26:20] I don't think Ben I don't think Ben saw a

[01:26:22] lot of the like 80s like

[01:26:24] camp comedies that like this is emulating

[01:26:26] he would yeah watching like you know

[01:26:28] John Claude Van Dampe

[01:26:29] bro is beating up bro

[01:26:32] come on let's watch the bro

[01:26:34] let's watch blood kick

[01:26:37] blood kick yeah

[01:26:38] it's blood sport and you know it no

[01:26:40] that's not in this universe

[01:26:42] it's kickboxer and you know it kick

[01:26:44] blood kick blood yeah it's

[01:26:46] it's kick punker the blood fist yeah

[01:26:48] anyway it's it's good

[01:26:50] I laughed a lot

[01:26:51] I think that I think that

[01:26:54] it just stop just stop there it's good

[01:26:56] a little bit it's embarrassing

[01:26:58] because

[01:27:00] even if you're doing a parody

[01:27:02] there are

[01:27:03] there are moments in that movie

[01:27:05] where they go it's just

[01:27:07] against the same type of movie they're making

[01:27:09] for example

[01:27:11] there is a way they did a good solid

[01:27:13] parody of a lot of it like

[01:27:14] this scene on the dock where Paul Rudd's not

[01:27:17] paying attention to the kid who died yeah that's

[01:27:19] a great scene yeah right and then they

[01:27:20] the other kid that complains they throw him on the side of the road

[01:27:23] yeah that running bit that's great yeah

[01:27:25] the scene where they go into the city and go

[01:27:27] crazy on Harold that's fucking hilarious

[01:27:29] that sequence is amazing

[01:27:30] I think though that

[01:27:33] they've built the universe and then

[01:27:34] that's the one scene that takes it even too far

[01:27:37] no I don't disagree I think it's exactly

[01:27:38] in the spirit of like they came together

[01:27:41] yeah but see

[01:27:42] they only do that one time

[01:27:44] no they came together several times

[01:27:46] I'm talking about in wet hot American summer

[01:27:48] they do that one time where it's that crazy

[01:27:50] and then they don't really reach that again

[01:27:52] I disagree because you have the cook

[01:27:54] who's talking to fucking food

[01:27:57] yeah that's not like

[01:27:58] a parody thing like that's

[01:28:01] equally as absurd if not more so it's absurd

[01:28:03] sure but that's one character

[01:28:04] who's a crazy person talking to a Ken so I'm

[01:28:06] fine with that but I think that it'd be

[01:28:08] different if the Ken was talking to multiple characters

[01:28:10] and I'd be like okay this is insane but no the hero

[01:28:12] in thing still acts as a parody

[01:28:14] because there were always scenes in those kinds

[01:28:16] of movies where the kids went into town and like

[01:28:18] we're having fun and like sneaking into liquor stores

[01:28:21] to get alcohol and that takes to a new level

[01:28:23] by having them get addicted to heroin

[01:28:24] I just think that that one scene is

[01:28:27] this way off kilter compared to the rest

[01:28:29] of the parody you're so wrong it's just

[01:28:30] right in there and like even just the scene

[01:28:33] where Paul Rudd is getting exasperated by having

[01:28:35] to pick up the plate on the floor and everything

[01:28:37] oh my god no that's great

[01:28:39] the whole movie is great the whole movie is hilarious

[01:28:41] there's a bunch of that stuff works

[01:28:42] and then there's a few things that don't I'm just saying

[01:28:44] the whole movie it's brilliant Nate can you do something about

[01:28:46] this like I've been up on him

[01:28:48] you know that I watch that

[01:28:50] listen it's good

[01:28:52] you know it's fine

[01:28:54] just what I think like is Brad gonna leave

[01:28:57] just when I think he did get up

[01:28:58] just when I think you have like respect for

[01:29:00] cinema like you do something like this

[01:29:02] you drop the ball anyway I watched

[01:29:04] uh uh

[01:29:06] The Quick and the Dead

[01:29:08] great fucking movie last night did you get that one

[01:29:10] last movie I watched

[01:29:12] yeah no I don't really get I think that

[01:29:14] you know Gene Hackman's not very good in it

[01:29:16] it was great it's a great movie

[01:29:18] Sam Raimi directed that

[01:29:20] and there are so many

[01:29:22] now that I've seen it a couple times

[01:29:23] but this most recent rewatch

[01:29:25] you can really see

[01:29:28] the Sam Raimi touches in that film

[01:29:29] the visual styles all over it

[01:29:31] the close ups and the turning of the camera

[01:29:33] and the over the top like

[01:29:35] when he you know he shoots the guy and then he flips over backwards

[01:29:38] too far it's very Sam Raimi

[01:29:40] and I love it yeah it's an awesome movie

[01:29:41] but Brad I did I watched one more film

[01:29:43] what movie did you watch Ben?

[01:29:44] I watched the one that you gave me buddy

[01:29:46] like five weeks ago?

[01:29:47] like five weeks ago and Nate if he can name

[01:29:50] the movie that Brad gave me five weeks ago

[01:29:52] I will buy you two steak dinners

[01:29:54] whoa two

[01:29:56] uh yeah this film

[01:29:58] is reindeer game

[01:30:02] it is reindeer games damn it

[01:30:04] movie called what if

[01:30:06] with Daniel Radcliffe

[01:30:08] and it's very good yeah I will give that

[01:30:10] it's very good

[01:30:11] um

[01:30:14] very paint by numbers

[01:30:15] you see it coming from a mile away

[01:30:17] oh my god it's a movie about

[01:30:19] a guy that meets a girl who is in a relationship

[01:30:21] and it's basically can you be a platonic friend

[01:30:24] with a girl who has a boyfriend

[01:30:26] and the thing to do right

[01:30:29] in this movie in my opinion

[01:30:30] is the boyfriend

[01:30:32] is not this out and out

[01:30:34] you know

[01:30:35] old school style Craig Kilborn

[01:30:38] no he's not an asshole

[01:30:40] he's just a boyfriend

[01:30:41] and I love that they did that

[01:30:43] because in most of these right

[01:30:44] you have it up and you want to just hate that guy

[01:30:46] he's just a normal kind of weird

[01:30:48] not weird but just kind of elitist

[01:30:50] well you need to do something with your life

[01:30:53] type boyfriend there's really nothing wrong

[01:30:55] with him and also they do something great

[01:30:57] where within the first act

[01:30:59] the boyfriend asks

[01:31:01] Daniel Radcliffe character are you trying to

[01:31:03] fuck my girlfriend like kind of as an aside

[01:31:04] and you don't see that coming

[01:31:06] I love things like that

[01:31:08] it was very realistic

[01:31:10] at the same time you can easily

[01:31:12] see this coming the whole time

[01:31:13] where of course Daniel Radcliffe is already smitten

[01:31:16] with this girl tells her that he's not

[01:31:18] and then it takes a very long

[01:31:20] a very long time for the movie to resolve

[01:31:22] I really wish they would have

[01:31:24] come to the conclusion maybe at the halfway point

[01:31:26] rather than when the movie is like four fifths

[01:31:28] the way over that's my only complaint

[01:31:30] because I was getting a little okay let's get to

[01:31:32] the point where they had the confrontation

[01:31:33] because I know it's coming but overall

[01:31:35] really really solid for those of you who don't know if you haven't seen this movie

[01:31:38] Zoe Kazan

[01:31:39] is the girl in this movie she's from

[01:31:42] The Big Sick with Camille Nanjia

[01:31:44] yes she's great and she's wonderful

[01:31:46] Adam Driver is in this movie

[01:31:48] oh my god I totally forgot

[01:31:49] so if you've ever seen any just

[01:31:51] seen in the zeitgeist on YouTube just randomly

[01:31:54] he goes I just had nachos

[01:31:56] no I just had sex and I'm about to have nachos

[01:31:58] that's from this movie

[01:32:00] and it's wonderful it's one of the best

[01:32:02] line deliveries I've ever

[01:32:04] and Adam Driver the fact that it comes from Adam Driver

[01:32:06] makes it that much better especially

[01:32:07] if you watch this movie after

[01:32:10] seeing what Adam Driver became

[01:32:11] like it's crazy to watch the

[01:32:13] scene after he's become Kylo Ren

[01:32:15] he lays just like

[01:32:17] a kind of ass holy best friend

[01:32:20] but not in like a not a dick

[01:32:21] but just like a he's obnoxious

[01:32:24] I'm gonna push your boundaries because I need

[01:32:26] you need your boundaries pushed yeah but yeah

[01:32:28] I just had sex and I'm about to have nachos

[01:32:31] yeah and then he the line

[01:32:33] beyond that is like unless you're gonna ruin

[01:32:35] this not post sex nacho

[01:32:37] moment for me with whatever you're about to tell me

[01:32:39] and of course he tells him bad news

[01:32:41] and it does ruin it and that scene

[01:32:43] just plays out and it's really fun we gotta get some nachos

[01:32:45] I think nachos good

[01:32:47] so yeah those are 23

[01:32:49] I couldn't have nachos

[01:32:50] I don't really like nachos all that much

[01:32:52] really I'm not joking I really don't

[01:32:54] hey do you put tomatoes on your nachos

[01:32:56] I don't like tomatoes good man

[01:32:57] did you put cilantro on your nachos

[01:33:00] typically I don't

[01:33:02] I don't mind

[01:33:03] I'll put some lettuce

[01:33:04] I don't mind do you like guac on your nachos

[01:33:07] I don't like guacamole

[01:33:09] I don't like guacamole

[01:33:11] I like guac

[01:33:12] you like guac alec yes I like guac yeah

[01:33:16] and tomatoes

[01:33:16] you say white people

[01:33:19] what are you

[01:33:21] he's Greek

[01:33:22] I eat tomatoes in guacamole

[01:33:25] I can tell you that much

[01:33:27] hold on there's nothing that's like an ethnic about tomatoes

[01:33:30] exactly I just say he can defend

[01:33:32] excuse me I eat tomatoes

[01:33:35] yeah the whitest person ever

[01:33:36] I don't know

[01:33:38] tomatoes are just like soggy

[01:33:41] bitter apples

[01:33:42] yeah

[01:33:44] sure they suck

[01:33:46] and they are flavorless but also with flavor

[01:33:48] oh you know who really made the sandwich great

[01:33:50] red goop

[01:33:53] can I have

[01:33:54] can I have a slimy lips

[01:33:56] with seeds in them

[01:33:57] that would sound good

[01:33:58] this would be better if it tasted like a cookie or a soda

[01:34:02] exactly

[01:34:02] he's got my number

[01:34:04] what if this tomato tasted like an apple

[01:34:07] yeah that'd be fucking great

[01:34:09] I would love it if tomato tasted like an apple

[01:34:11] I'd put it on cheeseburgers probably

[01:34:12] not on my nachos

[01:34:13] not on my fucking nachos

[01:34:16] guys I saw another movie

[01:34:18] oh

[01:34:20] and uh

[01:34:22] will field some questions

[01:34:23] you said you were gonna do this sorry

[01:34:25] I thought it was one of those things

[01:34:26] hey guys real quick

[01:34:29] unfortunately Ben couldn't go as we mentioned

[01:34:32] he chose not to

[01:34:33] I did see

[01:34:34] I'm sick

[01:34:38] Saturday night

[01:34:40] the Saturday Night Live movie

[01:34:41] not only did I see Saturday Night but I have seen this movie twice

[01:34:45] yeah you're a real

[01:34:46] jerk about it

[01:34:48] on the X

[01:34:50] you're like hey this film is so good

[01:34:52] I've seen it twice

[01:34:53] I'm not gonna be able to shut up about it

[01:34:54] I'm not gonna be able to shut up and I'm like I did the rolling eyes

[01:34:58] cause that's just dumb

[01:34:59] guys this movie is outstanding

[01:35:02] uh I

[01:35:03] this is the SNL movie that I've dreamed of

[01:35:05] like having a movie about

[01:35:08] the premiere of SNL and how it came together

[01:35:10] the energy

[01:35:11] how funny it is

[01:35:13] the performances

[01:35:14] the way like they move

[01:35:16] the camera through studio 8H just

[01:35:18] all of it the way the story unfolds

[01:35:21] it is intense

[01:35:22] it's really funny the performances are outstanding

[01:35:25] everybody in it is great

[01:35:26] I fucking love this movie

[01:35:28] I can't wait for everybody to see it

[01:35:29] it's just it's really really good

[01:35:32] can we do a takedown of a film critic

[01:35:35] can you do a takedown of a film critic right now

[01:35:38] can I

[01:35:38] what do you mean

[01:35:39] I'm gonna give you what this film critic says

[01:35:41] and you take it down

[01:35:41] tell them why they're wrong

[01:35:44] so takedown

[01:35:45] I'm sorry

[01:35:47] funny thing is I bet you I know who this reviewer is

[01:35:50] who do you think it is

[01:35:52] no

[01:35:54] Benjamin Lee of the Guardian gave the movie

[01:35:56] an extremely negative review summarizing it with the title

[01:36:00] TDS

[01:36:00] SNL Origins Tale

[01:36:02] is an unfunny misfire

[01:36:04] with a sub-headlight in the reading

[01:36:06] Jason Reitman's

[01:36:08] 70's set comedy detailing

[01:36:10] the first episode of Saturday Night Live

[01:36:12] is a dull

[01:36:13] and self-indulgent mess

[01:36:15] he awarded the film only one star out of five

[01:36:19] takedown

[01:36:19] he's an idiot obviously because if he's at the Guardian

[01:36:21] he's probably just some stuck up British T-sucker

[01:36:24] and he doesn't

[01:36:25] do his impression Ben

[01:36:27] I want to go see this movie

[01:36:30] I'm starting to know it

[01:36:32] fucking teeth fall out

[01:36:34] what he's talking about

[01:36:35] this movie right is on a Tuesday

[01:36:38] is when they had the screening

[01:36:39] I bet the movie was about how Monty Python came to you

[01:36:42] he probably jizzed all over himself

[01:36:44] what the hell you go movie on Saturday Night

[01:36:46] the premiere is on a Tuesday

[01:36:49] my goodness

[01:36:50] the queen would roll over I won't even talk about it

[01:36:52] oh my god I wanted to kill a person

[01:36:54] who made that joke in Canada

[01:36:56] that's why you reference that

[01:36:57] fucking asshole

[01:36:58] this film looks so good and I'm so happy

[01:37:01] because again we host the

[01:37:02] SNL review and recap podcast called the 10 to 1

[01:37:05] we love SNL

[01:37:07] and it works

[01:37:08] and when the time comes I will direct you guys

[01:37:11] to the interviews that I conducted with

[01:37:13] director Jason Reitman, co-writer Gil Keenan

[01:37:15] Gabriel LeBell

[01:37:17] who plays Lorne Michaels, Rachel Senate

[01:37:19] who plays Roger Schuster and Dylan O'Brien

[01:37:20] who plays Dan Aykroyd

[01:37:22] give me something in this film that you thought

[01:37:25] surprised you

[01:37:26] or how much

[01:37:27] like that you didn't expect in the film

[01:37:30] maybe

[01:37:32] J.K. Simmons as Milton Burl

[01:37:34] is just a real

[01:37:35] scene stealer

[01:37:36] the scenes he's in are great

[01:37:38] I think he's got a future

[01:37:41] there are some really fun

[01:37:43] runners in this movie that I just

[01:37:45] wasn't thinking about or expecting

[01:37:47] that work really well because they keep popping in and out of the movie

[01:37:50] but honestly just

[01:37:51] it's this movie moves so fast

[01:37:53] and just like keeping up with it

[01:37:55] it's a lot of fun to watch

[01:37:56] and look around and see things

[01:37:58] there are some future SNL Easter eggs

[01:38:01] that I even caught while watching

[01:38:03] and it's just the way the camera

[01:38:05] weaves in and out of all the space and rooms

[01:38:07] there's like Paul Thomas Anderson-esque

[01:38:09] one takes or it's just constantly

[01:38:11] moving around

[01:38:12] I wish I knew what that meant

[01:38:13] okay this is a weird question

[01:38:16] but I hope you get it

[01:38:18] why are raspberries red?

[01:38:19] how is the music in the film?

[01:38:21] oh so the music I love John Batiste

[01:38:24] so here's what's really cool about it

[01:38:25] is they recorded

[01:38:28] the score for the movie

[01:38:29] live on the studio

[01:38:32] 8H stage

[01:38:33] that they built where they

[01:38:35] shot the movie and

[01:38:37] Batiste didn't

[01:38:38] probably one of the most talented humans in the world

[01:38:41] he didn't formally compose

[01:38:43] a score for this movie

[01:38:44] what they did is they brought

[01:38:47] John Batiste the daily

[01:38:48] the footage after they

[01:38:50] put a certain cuts together of scenes

[01:38:53] and him and his band

[01:38:55] improvised music

[01:38:56] like they watched it and they're like

[01:38:58] give us a second and they wrote stuff

[01:39:00] and they performed this score

[01:39:02] that goes it's unbelievable

[01:39:04] and that level of talent is just unbelievable

[01:39:06] I don't even know how you do but the score

[01:39:08] is literally like a ticking clock

[01:39:09] and it just keeps the momentum of the movie going non-stop

[01:39:12] it's just yeah this movie is incredible

[01:39:14] I can't wait to see this film

[01:39:16] when's it come out?

[01:39:17] so it's going to be New York LA for September 27th

[01:39:20] limited release October 4th

[01:39:22] wide October 11th

[01:39:24] Nate do you want to go see this in a theater with me?

[01:39:26] yeah should we rent it out

[01:39:27] yeah this is one of those that I'll rent a theater

[01:39:30] because I do not want

[01:39:31] no I don't want kids running around

[01:39:34] I don't want any of that

[01:39:35] I mean no kids are going to go to this

[01:39:36] but like still I just really want kids love 1970s television

[01:39:40] it's very true

[01:39:41] I mean Bob Newhart get out of here

[01:39:43] I know you didn't

[01:39:44] this is the first time at TIFF

[01:39:46] I know you didn't spend a ton of time there

[01:39:47] any thoughts of going to the Toronto International Film Festival?

[01:39:50] no unfortunately I only got to see one movie

[01:39:52] I did try to pop into a couple others

[01:39:53] but it just didn't work with the schedule

[01:39:55] or they didn't have tickets readily available

[01:39:56] they wouldn't let them in

[01:39:58] yeah I walked up one

[01:39:59] and like I had my pants half off

[01:40:01] and I was like kids look at megalopolis

[01:40:04] and they were like

[01:40:05] was megalopolis playing?

[01:40:06] yeah

[01:40:07] and they were like sir this is a Wendy's

[01:40:09] and it was just

[01:40:11] it was a rough day

[01:40:12] I was in a Wendy's with my pants half off

[01:40:16] and I thought there was a movie playing there

[01:40:19] megalopolis is a week long

[01:40:21] so it was just that one showing

[01:40:23] but no

[01:40:23] I wish I got to see more at TIFF

[01:40:25] but you know I've been to Sundance a lot

[01:40:27] and TIFF just feels like if Sundance

[01:40:30] unfolded in like a major city

[01:40:31] Canada?

[01:40:31] yeah

[01:40:33] but Canada was great I had stuff

[01:40:35] at McDonald's you can only get in Canada

[01:40:37] I did have some poutine

[01:40:39] I had some fucking great poutine with bacon

[01:40:41] and gravy

[01:40:43] he got a quesadilla

[01:40:45] I also

[01:40:46] you got a little horny for that

[01:40:49] let me tell you I had this fucking hot dog

[01:40:51] it was deep fried

[01:40:53] had bacon and onions on it

[01:40:55] oh Toronto style

[01:40:56] and it was a garlic aioli mayo

[01:40:59] on it

[01:41:00] why don't you ever bring poutine to the podcast

[01:41:03] yeah bring that home next time

[01:41:04] we're not in Canada

[01:41:06] you can bring cookies but you don't have any

[01:41:09] I'll get Oreos that flavor like poutine

[01:41:11] there you go

[01:41:12] I bet you wouldn't

[01:41:14] I wouldn't

[01:41:19] I wouldn't

[01:41:20] that just sounds like a not a good flavor

[01:41:22] palette

[01:41:22] you're gonna love it

[01:41:23] hey do you think

[01:41:27] this is the second

[01:41:28] or kind of the second major film

[01:41:30] Gabriel LaBella's been in

[01:41:32] do you think he's got it

[01:41:33] especially after talking to him

[01:41:35] he just seems like he's gonna be around for it

[01:41:37] 21, 22

[01:41:38] I get Leonardo DiCaprio vibes from him

[01:41:41] honestly

[01:41:43] who did he play?

[01:41:45] he plays Lord Michael

[01:41:45] he just has that caliber

[01:41:50] of talent and you can tell

[01:41:52] he's gonna be on the cusp

[01:41:53] right of like he's gonna get a role soon

[01:41:55] that's gonna like kind of

[01:41:57] or we're gonna find out a bunch of domestic violence stuff

[01:41:59] and he'll be gone forever because that's what happens

[01:42:00] I get excited about somebody and they're gone forever

[01:42:02] yeah it's gonna be a cool marble

[01:42:04] I was excited about you

[01:42:07] Kevin Spacey

[01:42:10] but uh yeah

[01:42:11] Saturday night I cannot wait for you guys to see it

[01:42:13] I'm so so so pumped

[01:42:15] I really am excited

[01:42:16] I don't

[01:42:19] typically get too disappointed when I have to miss out

[01:42:21] on things I really don't

[01:42:22] so I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I can do

[01:42:25] this really bunk me out

[01:42:26] it was such a bummer not to have you there buddy

[01:42:28] I really not doing a bit I was really sad

[01:42:30] and I want to give another plug again

[01:42:32] the next season the 50th season

[01:42:34] is gonna be huge season of SNL

[01:42:36] Saturday Night Live is coming up soon

[01:42:38] it's gonna start in the next month I think

[01:42:40] the end of September

[01:42:41] and so if you're a fan of a Saturday Night Live

[01:42:43] do subscribe and listen to our 10 to 1 podcast

[01:42:47] and we go through every new episode

[01:42:48] and recap

[01:42:50] review have a lot of fun talking about that episode

[01:42:53] so um

[01:42:54] and even if you don't like that we just went through all

[01:42:56] 110 digital shorts that the Lonely Island did

[01:42:59] yeah exactly

[01:43:00] we also talk about SNL films and stuff like that

[01:43:03] on times where the season

[01:43:04] is either taking a break

[01:43:06] or during the summer hiatus

[01:43:08] and so again if you like that stuff

[01:43:11] or if you've never listened

[01:43:12] a new season is starting

[01:43:14] and SNL coming up soon is a great time to give us a chance over there

[01:43:17] do we have time to talk about a couple of trailers

[01:43:19] I mean it's a long episode not only do we have time but yeah

[01:43:21] this is a double double episode buddy

[01:43:23] you keep saying that and I don't know what

[01:43:25] that means it's double the trouble

[01:43:27] double the trouble double the fun that's the statement of the podcast

[01:43:29] better than double min gum

[01:43:32] well you heard it here third

[01:43:33] so there you go

[01:43:35] alright well trailer uh what would you watch

[01:43:36] let's trailer it up feel like there's a song coming from Ben

[01:43:40] oh Ben's got a trailer song

[01:43:42] here comes old Ben

[01:43:44] with a trailer song everybody

[01:43:45] go on hire refire steen give us a song

[01:43:48] yeeha

[01:43:49] come on Harvey fire steen

[01:43:51] yeah that's your voice right now

[01:43:52] listen don't worry about what I gotta do

[01:43:55] I'd sing a trailer song for ya

[01:43:57] come on let's go

[01:43:59] with the trailer song

[01:44:02] sing it to the tune of something we know

[01:44:08] what was that boy

[01:44:10] it's my encouraging

[01:44:11] MC

[01:44:13] sing it to the kind of

[01:44:14] a runny danger feel

[01:44:16] but also a little bit of

[01:44:18] Barty from the Flintstone

[01:44:19] and Andrew Dice Clay

[01:44:22] oh

[01:44:25] uh

[01:44:26] hmm

[01:44:27] what do you think

[01:44:29] we just gave you time to do

[01:44:30] we vamped for you to think

[01:44:33] seriously that's the whole point of us doing the funny tricks

[01:44:35] we do

[01:44:36] we can't just keep on thinking of funny bits all the time

[01:44:39] oh Jackie D

[01:44:41] and the weekly top 40s

[01:44:46] why don't you

[01:44:47] sing it

[01:44:48] why don't you sing something else I'll join in

[01:44:50] no that's not how this works buddy

[01:44:51] you've had six weeks to recover

[01:44:54] by the way you also know you can't join

[01:44:56] and I join in that's the thing that Brad made

[01:44:58] yeah Nate's the mix master

[01:45:00] I don't like this

[01:45:02] let's just do the song nobody has to feel like it

[01:45:05] and you know what I think that's kind of the problem

[01:45:07] nobody ever asked me

[01:45:08] hey do you actually really

[01:45:10] mind because I do

[01:45:11] I do mind

[01:45:12] oh about the songs? yeah no we know

[01:45:14] we don't care we know that

[01:45:17] no all the listeners know

[01:45:18] so you know and you don't care

[01:45:20] nobody cares

[01:45:23] no we

[01:45:25] very aggressive space

[01:45:26] seriously Jesus Pete

[01:45:28] I don't know what song to sing

[01:45:30] any song about a trailer

[01:45:35] you're so mad at me I was literally just gonna do the

[01:45:37] trailer

[01:45:40] he piece of shit

[01:45:41] cause he's so panicked

[01:45:43] it's like it's like an abuse

[01:45:45] I really had some triggering there

[01:45:47] I don't know what you're doing

[01:45:48] it's trailer time with Brad and Nate

[01:45:51] summer good and summer great

[01:45:53] we have good times watching

[01:45:55] movie films please let me off

[01:45:58] so I don't have to do this anymore

[01:46:01] it's really sad

[01:46:03] this is the worst jazz club

[01:46:05] I've ever been to

[01:46:06] I don't know what to say or

[01:46:09] do please let's move along

[01:46:12] for you

[01:46:14] my voice keeps cracking

[01:46:15] cause I'm still sick

[01:46:16] you guys are really mean

[01:46:18] and it makes me feel like Ick

[01:46:21] oh I thought he was gonna get you really

[01:46:22] I just said Ick was right there

[01:46:25] yeah I'm not good at this

[01:46:26] this feels like a lost Chris Farley character

[01:46:30] alright well we have

[01:46:31] a couple trailers

[01:46:32] yes we're gonna talk about a couple fun trailers

[01:46:36] have you ever had fun with the movies

[01:46:38] you don't even remember what they are

[01:46:39] that's what this is

[01:46:40] Venom the last dance

[01:46:44] oh where oh where

[01:46:46] can my venom be

[01:46:50] this movie looks bonkers

[01:46:51] this movie looks every bit as silly

[01:46:54] as what you've come to expect from venom

[01:46:55] I love seeing Eddie and Venom

[01:46:58] just going on trips

[01:46:59] and having disagreements

[01:47:00] Alex what do you think about the first two Venoms

[01:47:03] and are you excited to see the third

[01:47:04] I'm very excited to see

[01:47:06] the third Venom and I enjoyed the first two

[01:47:09] they were surprisingly funny

[01:47:11] the first one I think blew everybody away with

[01:47:13] like

[01:47:14] I can remember I think on this podcast

[01:47:17] talking about like well if they can be that funny

[01:47:19] again and like that's the tone

[01:47:21] they're going for them they might have like

[01:47:22] done a good deed with Venom

[01:47:24] and it looks like it's gonna work out right

[01:47:26] that trailer is batched

[01:47:28] they've at least learned to really lean into it

[01:47:30] they're really into the bromance side of things

[01:47:32] and like just having this like interesting

[01:47:34] at the end yeah exactly

[01:47:36] like they have the fact that they have a

[01:47:38] quick couple quick little like foggy flashbacks

[01:47:41] while they're having their bro moment

[01:47:42] we've really been together for a long time

[01:47:45] we've been together through thick and thin

[01:47:46] Eddie do you remember when you ate cereal

[01:47:49] so do you think this

[01:47:50] film is going to connect

[01:47:52] to no way home at all I don't know if it'll

[01:47:54] connect to no way home but I

[01:47:56] part of me wonders if they're

[01:47:58] they might eventually lean

[01:48:00] into having Tom Hardy's

[01:48:02] Venom meet Tom Holland Spider-Man

[01:48:04] I think would be a lot of fun because Tom

[01:48:06] Hardy just signed up for the fourth Spider-Man right

[01:48:09] what like didn't

[01:48:10] he just Tom Holland did what did I say Tom

[01:48:12] hardy Tom Holland

[01:48:14] breaking news yeah what Tom Holland

[01:48:16] just signed up to be Spider-Man again yeah

[01:48:18] by Dustin Daniel Cretan who did

[01:48:20] Shang Chi so we'll see

[01:48:22] you know I mean Tom Holland's

[01:48:24] great as Spider-Man I don't know what their story is

[01:48:26] necessarily but yeah it'd be cool if they could

[01:48:28] end up tying venom into it having to be part of

[01:48:30] the MCU even if it's just as a quick

[01:48:32] little gimmick be honest it's gonna be

[01:48:34] extremely difficult to

[01:48:36] beat what was

[01:48:38] ostensibly one of the greatest Marvel

[01:48:40] movies ever yeah of course no way home

[01:48:42] is incredible no way home is fantastic

[01:48:44] and I yeah I would

[01:48:46] I'm looking forward to seeing what they do

[01:48:48] with Spider-Man it would be cool if it was

[01:48:50] venom but either way the last dance looks

[01:48:52] like it's just gonna be fun a fun trilogy

[01:48:54] a rock us ride yeah crystal Fernandez

[01:48:57] is in is the bartender

[01:48:59] in no way home where he beers

[01:49:01] and he is credited already

[01:49:03] in this next

[01:49:04] and you use a quick shot of what happens

[01:49:06] in the first trailer you can see him in the bar because

[01:49:08] yeah so there's gonna be some

[01:49:10] connection but whether or not

[01:49:12] yeah it's it's that scene where they show

[01:49:14] they're not ignoring it part of the symbiote

[01:49:16] got left behind in the one of the dimensions

[01:49:18] that he jumped into

[01:49:20] and that's but that's where like

[01:49:22] you know it ends but it doesn't really seem like

[01:49:24] it's gonna lead is this the is this the

[01:49:26] final part of a trilogy

[01:49:28] so I think that they're they're gonna wrap it up

[01:49:30] this is Tom Hardy saying goodbye

[01:49:32] this character and yeah I mean

[01:49:33] as far as like for his own movies I think

[01:49:36] that they could still utilize venom elsewhere maybe

[01:49:38] but okay yeah he's gotta

[01:49:40] go back to the bush there's always a dump truck

[01:49:42] you can fill with money that's

[01:49:43] I agree like people love money

[01:49:46] I do I mean right you put

[01:49:48] 30 million dollars in front of me I can

[01:49:50] I'll be venom as many times as you'd like

[01:49:52] maybe you can put 50,000 in front of me

[01:49:55] and I'll play venom right now

[01:49:56] you play venom for free that's a good point

[01:49:59] yeah I'm not I just I'm

[01:50:00] worthless you know what

[01:50:02] you know what I liked in that trailer

[01:50:04] I like the flapping noises

[01:50:06] of Venom's lips while he was

[01:50:08] attached to the side of the plane yeah

[01:50:10] and like he looks in the window and you can

[01:50:13] yeah like that was that's some good

[01:50:15] Foley work let me say that's why I go

[01:50:16] to the movies interesting part about this

[01:50:18] film is the budget is 110 million

[01:50:20] still a lot of money but it's not the 200

[01:50:23] to 250 million dollar budgets we've

[01:50:24] been talking about yeah exactly

[01:50:26] that actually seems and I'm not joking

[01:50:28] it's kind of rained in yeah no that's

[01:50:30] what I'm saying so you could do

[01:50:32] three to 350 million dollars

[01:50:34] on this film and still make money right

[01:50:37] and so I

[01:50:38] am hoping that's the way things are

[01:50:40] going a little bit that they can

[01:50:42] rain some of those in so that people aren't

[01:50:44] expecting you know they're making

[01:50:46] these 200 million dollar films and they're

[01:50:48] going to remember even a hundred million

[01:50:49] dollar film has probably another 50 to

[01:50:51] 100 million in marketing they're really

[01:50:53] that much but it's a lot though yeah a

[01:50:55] lot of times it is it is about the budget

[01:50:57] of the film on these huge temple films

[01:50:58] to get it out there it's nuts yeah it's

[01:51:01] a lot of marketing money but yeah

[01:51:03] I'm down to see this silliness as soon

[01:51:05] as it's out are you more excited about

[01:51:06] this or Craven the Hunter oh this for

[01:51:08] sure I'm Craven some Craven

[01:51:11] it's when is Craven the Hunter coming

[01:51:13] out and why has it come out November

[01:51:15] is it October I think it's

[01:51:17] November but December they've

[01:51:19] moved it so many times now at one time

[01:51:21] it's a Christmas day at one

[01:51:23] time at one time they pushed it because

[01:51:25] they swapped the release date with something else

[01:51:27] that I think was going to be ready sooner

[01:51:29] that they wanted to strike while the iron was hot

[01:51:30] then it got pushed back again because they needed

[01:51:33] to shift things because of the strike

[01:51:35] borderlands yeah okay so this is

[01:51:37] the release schedule it was

[01:51:38] initially scheduled to release on January

[01:51:41] 13 2023

[01:51:42] yeah then October 6 2023

[01:51:45] yeah then August 30th

[01:51:48] 2024 yeah

[01:51:49] and as of now

[01:51:51] December 13th 2027

[01:51:53] oh Aaron Taylor Johnson

[01:51:55] was a teenager when they made this film

[01:51:57] yeah that's not true

[01:52:01] that's really funny

[01:52:03] but yeah I don't

[01:52:05] I don't really have much more than a passing interest

[01:52:07] in Craven the Hunter like I'll see

[01:52:08] it must not be any good

[01:52:09] right I mean honestly

[01:52:11] no I don't think it's been

[01:52:13] I don't think it's been delayed because it's bad

[01:52:15] necessarily two years but it's not

[01:52:17] the movie's fault though a big part of the delays was

[01:52:19] because of the strike that lasted for almost a year

[01:52:22] I mean there's been a lot of time

[01:52:23] to release I mean we've had months where

[01:52:25] like there's nothing really releasing this

[01:52:27] no I know but like but they swap things around because

[01:52:29] of what the strike did to the schedule

[01:52:32] they're thinking listen we got something so good

[01:52:34] here we gotta just make sure that it's

[01:52:35] kind of go out it just feels like Craven

[01:52:37] with a good run up

[01:52:39] you know we don't marketing budget

[01:52:41] we have to have billboards for months

[01:52:43] listen if you do Craven right

[01:52:45] Donald's tie-in

[01:52:46] I'm Craven it

[01:52:50] that's pretty good

[01:52:51] it's a white castle tie-in

[01:52:52] it's a white castle tie-in

[01:52:55] it's a Craven case

[01:52:56] why don't I do what more

[01:52:57] what the fuck leave that in

[01:53:02] we're leaving that in

[01:53:03] I don't know you looked like you were

[01:53:05] a drift at sea

[01:53:06] and you were waving your arms

[01:53:08] like you were looking for a life vest that was

[01:53:11] never gonna I raised my hands I was going hold on

[01:53:13] wait

[01:53:13] like you fell off a cruise ship

[01:53:16] that's all I feel I felt the drift

[01:53:18] whoa whoa

[01:53:20] we're leaving that in I'm not joking that's hilarious

[01:53:22] you don't get to decide you haven't edited an episode since 82

[01:53:24] it's true you're not wrong

[01:53:26] episode 82 was the last edit and it was bad

[01:53:29] he left in all the coughs

[01:53:31] yep he like added more

[01:53:32] he let it run while he went to the bathroom

[01:53:34] I coughed and then put that in

[01:53:36] he recorded new

[01:53:37] sounds of him snoring

[01:53:39] I recorded myself sleeping

[01:53:41] it was a real shit show

[01:53:43] episode 82 check it out where you can

[01:53:46] hey speaking of shit show

[01:53:47] real low point for us

[01:53:49] well we watched another trailer

[01:53:51] oh we did watch another trailer

[01:53:52] hey Alex good you're here by the way

[01:53:56] no I thought he had something else to say

[01:53:57] the children they yearn for the minds

[01:54:00] they do they yearn

[01:54:02] not since the days of child labor

[01:54:04] have they yearn for the minds

[01:54:05] my girlfriend's children

[01:54:08] are 7 years old and 10 years old

[01:54:10] all they want to do every day

[01:54:12] all day is play Minecraft

[01:54:13] that's all they want to do

[01:54:14] every conversation is about Minecraft

[01:54:17] I know what a freaking

[01:54:18] nether thing it is

[01:54:21] I would hope so

[01:54:24] creeper

[01:54:25] creeper oh yeah

[01:54:26] Alex and Steve are things

[01:54:28] that are not what it is

[01:54:30] I don't get it

[01:54:32] but they seem to enjoy it

[01:54:34] well it takes place in a world that is pixelated

[01:54:36] and comprised of blocks

[01:54:37] and they just love breaking those blocks

[01:54:40] this isn't for us right it's very clearly

[01:54:42] 100% not for us

[01:54:45] it doesn't even feel like they're trying

[01:54:46] maybe the presence of Jason Momoa

[01:54:49] kind of pushes that

[01:54:50] look I don't know what that is

[01:54:52] I don't know what his character is

[01:54:54] and he doesn't feel like something like

[01:54:56] a movie where there's an entry point for everybody

[01:54:59] in some kind of way

[01:55:00] the humor itself doesn't seem like it's working

[01:55:03] the Minecraft movie does not care about me

[01:55:05] it does not care about you

[01:55:06] do you

[01:55:07] so Jack Black and Jason Momoa being in this film

[01:55:11] is that just so that adults know

[01:55:12] that it's a real movie and not just some kind of knockoff

[01:55:15] well I mean that

[01:55:16] those are the kind of actors that do have some star power

[01:55:19] and might get adults to turn their heads

[01:55:21] and be like oh they're in this so maybe this

[01:55:22] was worth watching

[01:55:23] and kids like them like kids

[01:55:25] can identify Jack Black

[01:55:26] and Jason Momoa

[01:55:28] we watched this trailer with Rune

[01:55:31] and when

[01:55:34] Jack Black appeared

[01:55:35] before they said oh that Steve

[01:55:37] they both whisper oh that's Steve

[01:55:39] cause of the blue shirt

[01:55:40] then they were curious whereas Alex

[01:55:43] the second most popular character

[01:55:44] no where to be found in the trailer

[01:55:46] she'll probably be in that later

[01:55:47] I still think it's gonna be Chris Pratt

[01:55:52] does Alex have

[01:55:53] huge block boobs

[01:55:54] yeah it's what

[01:55:56] it's what Minecraft is known for

[01:55:59] it's those square titties

[01:56:02] like Lura Croft level

[01:56:04] block titties

[01:56:07] that's exactly

[01:56:09] cause I remember

[01:56:10] when that first thing about

[01:56:12] Tomb Raider you popped

[01:56:13] yeah I popped it in and you're like oh man

[01:56:16] oh you popped it in already

[01:56:17] she's so hot

[01:56:19] there's eight biddy titties

[01:56:21] eight biddy titties

[01:56:23] what are we doing here

[01:56:24] it was so terrible

[01:56:26] what's interesting about this film is

[01:56:28] it's directed by Jared Hess

[01:56:30] who like you know

[01:56:32] him and his brother

[01:56:33] huge hit with Dumbbelly Dynamite

[01:56:35] but they haven't like you know

[01:56:37] they did natural Libra right

[01:56:39] another decent film but like

[01:56:41] last ten years

[01:56:43] they haven't really done it

[01:56:45] they've been doing some TV stuff

[01:56:47] what'd they do

[01:56:49] some TV stuff

[01:56:50] Muscles in Mayhem

[01:56:51] Mr. Woodcock the TV series

[01:56:54] no they were the ones behind the American Gladiators

[01:56:57] documentary series

[01:56:59] one of them anyway

[01:57:01] that's what they've done

[01:57:03] so now we're gonna give them Minecraft

[01:57:06] like it just seems like

[01:57:07] it was a kind of movie where they just needed the director

[01:57:09] who was gonna do what they wanted

[01:57:10] I think that's what it is

[01:57:11] they have an idea

[01:57:13] or maybe Hess is just a big Minecraft fan

[01:57:16] maybe he gets it

[01:57:18] here I'm looking at Wikipedia

[01:57:20] it says they had other directors of mine

[01:57:23] Sean Levi

[01:57:24] Sean Levy

[01:57:25] I'm sure they did

[01:57:27] we really wanted Guillermo del Toro

[01:57:29] but he passed for some reason

[01:57:31] Rob McElhaney

[01:57:32] and then Peter Salah

[01:57:37] were initially hired to direct

[01:57:40] and then

[01:57:43] they all backed out eventually

[01:57:44] yeah I wonder why

[01:57:46] well it's a tough nut to crack

[01:57:48] well not really you use a pickaxe

[01:57:51] you fucked you

[01:57:52] similar to Lego

[01:57:54] I wonder what the story is because

[01:57:56] there isn't like a big narrative in Minecraft

[01:57:58] is there Alex? that's why I didn't

[01:58:00] no I don't play more Minecraft

[01:58:01] but I thought you would know cause you're kids

[01:58:04] they like it but it doesn't seem to

[01:58:06] have a narrative

[01:58:08] Mike is like it because they hang out with their friends

[01:58:10] on Minecraft

[01:58:11] everyone builds their own things

[01:58:13] and they attack each other

[01:58:15] my kids graduated to Fortnite

[01:58:18] they haven't really been in the Minecraft space for a long time

[01:58:21] we don't allow them to go online

[01:58:23] with the Minecraft stuff

[01:58:24] because we're scared that they're gonna be like

[01:58:26] hey look boy let me talk to you

[01:58:28] I don't think one of my stuff is not

[01:58:29] my name is Sticky LaFluorz

[01:58:31] Ben tells him we have pedophiles at home

[01:58:35] you don't have to go to the internet for that

[01:58:37] you don't have to go to the internet for that

[01:58:39] let me cut your hair again

[01:58:40] we're an American family

[01:58:43] I hope you die in your sleep

[01:58:44] I hope you don't wake up tomorrow

[01:58:46] I love you cut your hair

[01:58:48] shitty thing to say

[01:58:50] I love those boys you can go fuck yourself

[01:58:53] yeah we know

[01:58:54] I do think though

[01:58:57] that like

[01:58:59] the kids are still really into it even though they don't have an online presence

[01:59:01] so they love the idea of

[01:59:03] it's the rarity

[01:59:04] they mine things and every once in a while

[01:59:07] something happens and they're like oh that's a rare thing that I got

[01:59:09] and that's what kind of

[01:59:10] it's a variable payout

[01:59:12] what's a rare thing in Minecraft?

[01:59:15] diamonds and other like rare gems

[01:59:17] and things like that

[01:59:18] could come up with something a little more clever

[01:59:19] they don't need to

[01:59:20] they don't have a lot of redstone

[01:59:23] is that work for you

[01:59:24] minecraft is not interesting

[01:59:26] it's a terrible basis for a movie

[01:59:29] you build things

[01:59:30] so they build these things

[01:59:32] and then Rune will be like

[01:59:33] look what I built

[01:59:34] it's this kind of blocky looking house

[01:59:38] and you put a bed in there

[01:59:41] and like a lockable chest

[01:59:43] of drawer

[01:59:44] what happens to take a lady in there

[01:59:46] it's like the Sims I guess

[01:59:49] but the Sims is better

[01:59:51] I'm just saying this

[01:59:52] but I'll say this though

[01:59:55] the day it came out

[01:59:57] my son Finn

[01:59:59] texted me hey did you see the Minecraft trailer

[02:00:01] so I mean

[02:00:02] they're talking about it

[02:00:03] well Ashley yeah

[02:00:05] anything that gets kids to pay attention and stop jerking off

[02:00:08] we were in the living room jerking off

[02:00:10] and we said hey

[02:00:13] so like Ashley went

[02:00:14] and got the boys and said hey do you want to

[02:00:17] did you guys know there's a Minecraft

[02:00:18] they both stopped whatever they were doing

[02:00:21] they were like what and they ran out to watch it

[02:00:23] with us clearly

[02:00:24] they were they're going to want to see this

[02:00:26] no matter what oh yeah

[02:00:27] they finally found a way to get these kids to put

[02:00:30] their screens down to watch a big

[02:00:31] attention to a big family

[02:00:34] here's the Warner Brothers

[02:00:36] pictures premise they've released

[02:00:38] a premise for the film is as four

[02:00:40] misfits Garrett the garbage man

[02:00:41] Garrison Henry Natalie

[02:00:44] and Dawn

[02:00:46] find themselves struggling with ordinary

[02:00:48] problems when they are

[02:00:49] suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal

[02:00:51] into the overworld a bizarre

[02:00:53] cubic wonderland that thrives

[02:00:55] on imagination to get back

[02:00:57] home they'll have to master this

[02:00:59] world and protect it from evil things

[02:01:01] like piglins and zombies

[02:01:04] while embarking on a magical quest

[02:01:06] with an unexpected

[02:01:07] expert crafter Steve

[02:01:09] together their adventure will

[02:01:11] challenge all five to be bold

[02:01:13] and reconnect with their qualities that make each

[02:01:16] of them uniquely creative the very skills

[02:01:18] they need to thrive back

[02:01:20] in the real world that does not

[02:01:21] sound

[02:01:25] the title

[02:01:26] for Minecraft was inspired by mine comp

[02:01:28] oh wow

[02:01:30] now that sounds

[02:01:32] good

[02:01:33] I want to watch that movie

[02:01:37] I will say

[02:01:38] so like the boys draw

[02:01:40] the Minecraft characters all the time just on

[02:01:42] the do and of course

[02:01:44] their favorite game is like hey Ben

[02:01:45] what do you think this one's called and it just it looks like a skeleton

[02:01:48] yeah so I'm like oh is it skeleton

[02:01:51] no

[02:01:52] it's ether skeleton good

[02:01:54] zombie skill they're all just versions

[02:01:56] of a skeleton it's an ender dragon they all have

[02:01:58] like very nuanced little differences and of course

[02:02:00] this is a seven year old drawing it

[02:02:02] yeah so I'm like why I don't know that that's

[02:02:04] a hat it just it looks like

[02:02:06] a fucking spike and or what do you want from me here

[02:02:08] well no it's it's got a hat on now it doesn't

[02:02:11] you draw have dropped her hat

[02:02:12] man what is this I'm gonna bet black

[02:02:14] tits

[02:02:15] where the black tits

[02:02:17] hey who's the hot lady you draw

[02:02:20] got Laura Croft in there

[02:02:23] I'll read that to

[02:02:25] that's enough

[02:02:27] being gross yeah

[02:02:28] way to ruin minecraft

[02:02:31] way to ruin minecraft

[02:02:33] well those are the trailers we want

[02:02:35] and I don't know about you guys but these movies

[02:02:37] sound like a real hoot I'm pumped

[02:02:38] real hooting any I'm ready for crafting

[02:02:40] minds and dancing with venom

[02:02:42] hooting holler all the way to the theater

[02:02:44] gonna hooting holler to the theater

[02:02:47] we're gonna hop

[02:02:48] in her trucks and hit the road

[02:02:51] we got her popcorn

[02:02:52] in her butter too

[02:02:54] and we're gonna see a movie with

[02:02:56] our friends too

[02:02:57] you just let your own popcorn in butter

[02:03:00] yeah you ride the two and two and it makes

[02:03:02] fun of me for my stupid thoughts look at your face

[02:03:05] what does that even mean

[02:03:08] we're gonna do two to two

[02:03:10] and coming down three with two

[02:03:13] and two you can't even create your own melody

[02:03:16] all you do is just

[02:03:18] coffee shop rap

[02:03:22] trailer time

[02:03:23] see Alex knows

[02:03:25] I will say that song does stick in your head

[02:03:28] how's your big cappuccino chat

[02:03:30] trailer time with Ben and Nate

[02:03:33] trailer time and it's gonna be great

[02:03:37] there's nothing wrong with that

[02:03:39] I'm not gonna lie I've had that song

[02:03:40] stuck in my head at times and there it is

[02:03:43] you're all fucking welcome

[02:03:45] for what thanks for being here Alex

[02:03:47] sorry we know it's great to sleep halfway

[02:03:49] through guys were sorry that took us so long to get this episode

[02:03:51] out Ben's body is just crippled

[02:03:53] it really is not good

[02:03:55] bad piece of the go you should not even

[02:03:57] look at it at this point

[02:03:58] yeah it's burnt your eyes if you see me in public

[02:04:01] it's it'll well you'll something will get sick on

[02:04:02] yeah basically the reason Ben has a family now

[02:04:05] is because he needs the support yeah yeah he

[02:04:07] can't get from the bed to the bathroom

[02:04:08] I do finally have people that will watch

[02:04:11] my deathbed which will be in about two weeks

[02:04:13] yeah built-in hospice care

[02:04:15] we should be back with another episode

[02:04:17] in October some point

[02:04:19] come on man

[02:04:20] no no we should be back in a good groove now

[02:04:23] we'll be back next week with another episode

[02:04:25] we'll see

[02:04:25] you fucker

[02:04:28] we're gonna be assigning some movies here

[02:04:30] we're gonna get back on track

[02:04:32] I need that movie I'm gonna watch it tonight

[02:04:34] should all watch hackers so I need that

[02:04:37] you're not gonna watch tonight you worthless

[02:04:38] well no it's only 9 30 I don't care

[02:04:40] you're going 30 you're going to bed yeah

[02:04:42] that's enough time for you to watch one third of a movie

[02:04:45] you'll watch the thank you Alex

[02:04:46] he'll give you the opening credits no fall asleep

[02:04:48] he's like I'm almost done with this film

[02:04:50] not their exciting credits Alex has got my back

[02:04:52] why don't you have my back you know I hate

[02:04:54] the way you watch movies

[02:04:56] for the record I just know that's how you do it

[02:05:00] wait well let's say they watch this on his phone

[02:05:04] yeah TV

[02:05:05] I got TV

[02:05:06] we used to say that about him and you would

[02:05:08] we would make fun of him yeah but no we're all tired of that

[02:05:11] alright yeah we'll see

[02:05:12] what is going on right now

[02:05:14] he eventually got a television

[02:05:16] you still watch the movies right

[02:05:18] you still have gout

[02:05:20] that's the second reference to my gout you made tonight

[02:05:23] I don't think that's appropriate

[02:05:25] do something about it

[02:05:26] I do I take aliparion all 400 milligrams every day

[02:05:28] maybe you should cut back on the soda flavored cookies though

[02:05:31] and you know that's not my fault

[02:05:34] you know that's not my fault

[02:05:35] I carry around this

[02:05:37] vat of green liquid

[02:05:39] as per the commercial

[02:05:40] to indicate that I have gout

[02:05:42] and you all know this

[02:05:44] there was a commercial

[02:05:45] I've seen it

[02:05:48] do you guys do your best impression

[02:05:50] of a vat of green liquid putting your hand to it

[02:05:53] would be like

[02:05:55] that's more goopy

[02:05:57] I think you're probably asking

[02:06:00] what is this

[02:06:01] I was thinking about goopy

[02:06:05] yeah it's the goopy

[02:06:05] that's pretty good

[02:06:06] the vat is full of uric acid

[02:06:08] Alex you got one for us

[02:06:09] acid

[02:06:10] you pissed in the jaw

[02:06:11] what is that

[02:06:15] I said it's acid so it's more like

[02:06:18] you said you carry around a vat of green goop

[02:06:20] that's what gout is

[02:06:21] gout is acid right

[02:06:22] it's uric acid

[02:06:23] goo has to be at least more viscous

[02:06:24] welcome to medical corner where you guys are all fucking morons

[02:06:27] it's uric acid

[02:06:28] you feel like goo needs to be more

[02:06:30] goo needs to have a chunk sound

[02:06:33] not goo

[02:06:35] it's an ectoplasm

[02:06:37] it's a liquid acid

[02:06:39] well it's not gonna make a sound when you put your hand in it

[02:06:42] like it's burning your skin off

[02:06:43] but that's not the sound it makes

[02:06:44] we're talking about the sound of the

[02:06:46] the material

[02:06:48] like the gel that you used

[02:06:51] in like seventh grade

[02:06:53] well for other purposes

[02:06:55] yeah you know the

[02:06:56] don't use the gel for that

[02:06:58] I learned that lesson one time

[02:07:00] I had styled pubes for like a week and a half

[02:07:06] dumbest thing I've ever said

[02:07:08] I've said dumb shit

[02:07:10] and that's the dumbest shit I've ever said

[02:07:12] I had styled pubes for a week and a half

[02:07:15] cause I did it with hair gel

[02:07:17] yeah that makes sense though

[02:07:18] that fits

[02:07:20] your sticky dick

[02:07:23] your sticky dick

[02:07:25] this is off the rails

[02:07:27] at least it took this long to get this far

[02:07:29] yeah alright

[02:07:30] and this thing
