Ben, Brad, and Nate aren't skipping a week this time! Not only are they back in the habit, but they've been seeing movies! Wow! Ben and Brad saw Furiosa, and our guest Luke Starkey also joined them!
But that's not all, because Luke has been watching some movies, like Abigail, which totally whips. Not to be outdone, Nate watched a fantastic little movie called Colossal. Plus, we watch the trailers for Moana 2 (YOU'RE NOT WELCOME!) and Wolfs (OCEAN'S DEAD BODY FIXERS!). Be sure to listen out for our subtle Woody Woodpecker impressions! Are you ready to get pecked? Bring out the wood!

[00:00:00] Hey everybody, it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself. My name is Ben Conowitz and with me as always is number four to my number one, Brad Ferdoman.
[00:00:26] Hey that's me. This sounds lazy.
[00:00:28] Number three to my number one is Nate Lauch.
[00:00:33] Number three on the podcast, number one in your heart.
[00:00:36] Number two to my number one is our special guest, Luke Starkey.
[00:00:39] Hey!
[00:00:40] But as I want to point out, the rankings can always change.
[00:00:43] Oh jeez. Here we go, Iron Claw.
[00:00:46] So Ben is piss, Luke is shit, Nate is vomit and I think I'm diarrhea? Is that how it works?
[00:00:52] That sounds about right.
[00:00:54] I watched The Iron Claw finally. Spoiler alert, it's only been a month and I was sad.
[00:01:00] Ben got to sign this movie a long time ago and it took him this long to get through it.
[00:01:06] Because it's very sad.
[00:01:07] It's very very sad.
[00:01:08] Guys, why does anybody assign me this movie?
[00:01:10] Yeah no seriously, I'm going to give it to you next time.
[00:01:13] I can't believe you haven't watched it already.
[00:01:15] No, I love a good sad movie.
[00:01:16] Oh dude, it's a heartbreaking movie.
[00:01:18] Good lord.
[00:01:19] Go Flix Yourself.
[00:01:20] Yeah, it's a movie podcast where we talk about the latest movies.
[00:01:23] Movies, TV shows.
[00:01:24] No, just movies.
[00:01:25] Don't talk about it at the same time.
[00:01:26] Just movies.
[00:01:27] What are you guys doing?
[00:01:28] Movies and TV shows.
[00:01:29] He's just trying to get TV shows in there but it's just movies.
[00:01:31] In honor of Luke's brother.
[00:01:33] Don't bring up Joe.
[00:01:34] Not right off the bat.
[00:01:35] Wow.
[00:01:36] Kiss the sky.
[00:01:37] Forgot him that quickly, huh?
[00:01:39] No you dirty motherfucker.
[00:01:41] Because he's using your dead brother to bring up TV shows on our stupid podcast and
[00:01:46] I will not stand for it.
[00:01:47] RIP joke.
[00:01:48] We love you.
[00:01:49] RIP joke.
[00:01:50] We miss you and love you.
[00:01:51] For sure.
[00:01:52] And Joe's memory.
[00:01:53] Just forget his memory then.
[00:01:54] Oh my god.
[00:01:55] I'm going to channel my inner Joe and that's what we're going to do.
[00:01:59] That's how I'm going to play today.
[00:02:01] Classic Ben Conowitz not caring about dead people.
[00:02:03] I got to say my dad also loved TV.
[00:02:05] Too bad.
[00:02:06] Too bad he's gone too.
[00:02:08] Nate, your mom loved TV too right?
[00:02:09] Yeah no she did.
[00:02:10] So did my mom.
[00:02:11] My mom too.
[00:02:12] Hey Ben, what's it like having both parents and everyone and siblings and everything?
[00:02:17] Luke wins though because he's got the brother and the mom.
[00:02:20] That is true.
[00:02:21] It's a double dose of sadness.
[00:02:23] And I still have my brother and both parents who are very happy and healthy.
[00:02:26] Knock on wood.
[00:02:28] And a dog with three legs.
[00:02:30] Yeah you did bury one leg from your dog.
[00:02:32] He did bury the leg.
[00:02:34] RIP right left or sorry rear left leg of Millie.
[00:02:38] We took the leg and gave it to Morty.
[00:02:40] He loves that's his favorite juice toy.
[00:02:42] Very favorite juice toy.
[00:02:44] Oh my goodness.
[00:02:45] Yeah we talk about movies, talk about movie trailers.
[00:02:47] Sometimes we talk about TV shows when we got to get a little freaky deaky.
[00:02:50] You know what I'm saying?
[00:02:52] That's what we like to do.
[00:02:54] Ben, what's your favorite going to a memorial for a deceased family member moment?
[00:02:59] Oh that's a loaded question.
[00:03:04] Meaning what's the sponsor buddy?
[00:03:06] That's a weird way to ask.
[00:03:08] Meaning.
[00:03:09] Hey Ben, what is the saddest you've ever been?
[00:03:12] Meaning.
[00:03:13] I'm good with all these fun summer memories.
[00:03:17] Hey speaking of fun summer memories Ben,
[00:03:19] Ben let me ask you what do you like to drink on a nice hot summer day?
[00:03:23] I actually do like a nice cold glass of lemonade.
[00:03:25] Now regular lemonade or?
[00:03:27] Anybody else think he was going to say,
[00:03:29] I really like on a hot summer day a cold glass of milk.
[00:03:32] Oh dude bro me too.
[00:03:34] Brad really needs that.
[00:03:36] Oh dude I will have milk on a hot summer day
[00:03:38] and it will quench my thirst like no other dude.
[00:03:40] I am not even joking.
[00:03:42] I love ice cold milk.
[00:03:44] Do you put ice in it?
[00:03:46] Fuck no.
[00:03:47] Once it hits your lips.
[00:03:49] Oh my god just delicious.
[00:03:50] On a hot day?
[00:03:53] On a hot day man.
[00:03:54] Listen listeners, you've heard me say it before
[00:03:56] but it's worth repeating.
[00:03:58] We went to Chicago, we went to go see the fourth Thor movie.
[00:04:01] Yeah.
[00:04:02] And it was a hot muggy August day or July day.
[00:04:05] And I got a bottle of milk from Walgreens.
[00:04:07] Wait chocolate milk?
[00:04:09] No.
[00:04:10] White milk?
[00:04:11] And he put it in his pocket and walked to the theater with it
[00:04:13] so it's not even like it was fresh out the cooler.
[00:04:15] It was like 10-15 minutes later it must have been a little bit.
[00:04:18] We didn't walk we took it to an Uber.
[00:04:20] So it was still a good 20 minutes later before you came.
[00:04:22] It was not 20 minutes.
[00:04:23] And he's drinking and it's just coming down the sides of his chest.
[00:04:26] Oh once it gets in your beard like it just cools your face.
[00:04:29] It's just like yes.
[00:04:31] You never had a cream stash?
[00:04:33] Disgusting thing ever.
[00:04:35] And the crazy part was he had it in his mouth.
[00:04:38] He was like this Thor movie is pretty good right?
[00:04:41] You want to drink? You want to sip?
[00:04:43] Yeah.
[00:04:44] You want a little of this 2%?
[00:04:46] Wait are you a 2% guy?
[00:04:48] No no I'm a 2% skim.
[00:04:49] He's whole.
[00:04:50] You're a skim guy?
[00:04:52] That's basically water.
[00:04:53] That's what people say but they're wrong.
[00:04:55] Why don't you go with like even just inch up to 1%?
[00:04:59] You should drink whole milk.
[00:05:00] I grow up. Sometimes I get 1% if they don't have skim.
[00:05:02] I like all kinds of milk.
[00:05:04] But skim is what I grew up on so it's just my default.
[00:05:06] I like to chew a good whole milk.
[00:05:08] For sure.
[00:05:09] Chocolate milk is thick.
[00:05:10] Oh yeah thick chocolate milk.
[00:05:12] Just bring it and put it in my mouth.
[00:05:14] I don't drink milk.
[00:05:15] Oh you like 100% milk?
[00:05:17] Straight from the utter baby.
[00:05:20] You don't drink an almond milk?
[00:05:21] Well Ben I'm happy to say that you...
[00:05:24] We all know Nate likes horse milk.
[00:05:26] I'm happy that you said...
[00:05:27] Maybe we did this in the last episode.
[00:05:28] I'm happy that you said lemonade.
[00:05:30] Yeah I'm happy I said it too because it's the truth.
[00:05:32] Yeah because today the sponsor is Pizz.
[00:05:36] No go ahead.
[00:05:37] That's a weird thing to say.
[00:05:38] Don't look at the label if you can avoid it.
[00:05:40] You'll see what it is when you look at the back but don't look at the front if you can avoid it.
[00:05:44] Stop looking at the label Ben.
[00:05:46] Stop looking at me swan.
[00:05:48] I'm trying to catch it.
[00:05:50] Luke I can actually make it so he doesn't see.
[00:05:51] So I can look at the back?
[00:05:52] You can look at the back.
[00:05:53] I'm not even going to look.
[00:05:54] Oh no don't look at the back.
[00:05:55] I just realized don't look at the back.
[00:05:57] Just open it and mow down.
[00:05:59] Just open it and mow down.
[00:06:00] I can feel that it's a Kit Kat.
[00:06:01] Also sex advice to live by.
[00:06:02] Spoiler.
[00:06:03] Yeah it's definitely a Kit Kat.
[00:06:04] You can know that, that's fine.
[00:06:05] I do know that.
[00:06:06] Can I just dive in?
[00:06:07] Yeah just dive in.
[00:06:08] For our listeners it's pink.
[00:06:10] It's a pink Kit Kat.
[00:06:11] Now you can smell it too if you want to.
[00:06:12] I didn't know I could look at it.
[00:06:13] It's a pink Kit Kat and this actually smells really good.
[00:06:17] Here can you hear it?
[00:06:19] I hate this.
[00:06:21] ASMR.
[00:06:23] Yeah you're wonderful.
[00:06:24] I like these.
[00:06:25] You know what these taste like?
[00:06:27] Candy.
[00:06:28] Yeah but do you remember those little cookies that had the frosting in the middle with
[00:06:32] the little wafers?
[00:06:33] The wafer cookie too.
[00:06:34] Well I mean it's essentially one of those but it's just.
[00:06:36] Yeah that's what I'm saying.
[00:06:37] This is what they say for strawberry wafer cookies.
[00:06:40] I like those.
[00:06:41] Do you think it's strawberry?
[00:06:42] I grew up on this.
[00:06:43] Well it's pink lemonade I'm sure.
[00:06:44] No it's definitely strawberry.
[00:06:46] No it's lemonade.
[00:06:48] I know what it's supposed to be.
[00:06:49] It's pink lemonade but it doesn't taste like pink lemonade.
[00:06:52] No way it tastes like pink lemonade.
[00:06:53] It has a slight lemonade tang at the very end but it's mostly a strawberry flavor.
[00:06:58] It tastes like the strawberry.
[00:06:59] That is 100% strawberry.
[00:07:00] It tastes like strawberry.
[00:07:01] Sugar wafers.
[00:07:02] That's what it tastes like.
[00:07:03] They're delicious.
[00:07:04] Those are really good.
[00:07:05] Yeah they don't taste like pink lemonade but they're fine.
[00:07:08] But yeah these are pink lemonade Kit Kats.
[00:07:09] They're available limited edition for the summer.
[00:07:11] You can find them at Walmart right now.
[00:07:13] They're only available in these little fun size packs that come in a case of 10 I think
[00:07:18] though.
[00:07:19] There's no tang to it.
[00:07:20] In order to be pink lemonade there needs to be a little tang to it.
[00:07:22] Yeah there needs to be a little tartness.
[00:07:23] It could also just not taste like strawberries.
[00:07:26] That's exactly what that is.
[00:07:28] Maybe that's what they're doing.
[00:07:30] They just made a whole batch and they're like well later we'll just see their leftover.
[00:07:34] Yeah that's true.
[00:07:35] We'll just rebrand it.
[00:07:37] Nobody will know.
[00:07:38] Nobody will care.
[00:07:39] They're just slight lemon.
[00:07:40] Very very slight though.
[00:07:41] It's super subtle.
[00:07:42] Yeah you get a little bit of it.
[00:07:43] I think you're convinced.
[00:07:45] Ben how about you?
[00:07:46] You're quiet.
[00:07:47] I said these are pink sugar cookies.
[00:07:49] But did you like them?
[00:07:50] I'm sorry sugar.
[00:07:51] Sugar wafers.
[00:07:52] I grew up on sugar wafers as you can tell.
[00:07:53] Did you like the vanilla or chocolate or strawberry?
[00:07:55] I liked the strawberries the best.
[00:07:56] Chocolate baby.
[00:07:57] These are really good.
[00:07:58] Yeah I enjoyed them.
[00:08:00] Brad you did a good job this one time.
[00:08:02] Thanks to the Mars candy company.
[00:08:04] Is that who makes those?
[00:08:05] No.
[00:08:06] Next week it's going to be like some jelly bean that tastes like diarrhea so.
[00:08:09] It'll be like.
[00:08:10] Fart nuggets.
[00:08:11] Limited edition Brrraaacks.
[00:08:13] Oh bro I got fart nuggets.
[00:08:14] You're going to love them.
[00:08:15] Who is it Hershey's?
[00:08:16] Nestle makes Kit Kat.
[00:08:18] It's going to be Brrraaacks oops all Hershey squirts.
[00:08:21] All Hershey squirts is my favorite Blizzard flavor at Derek Queen.
[00:08:27] You should bring us some ice cream sometime.
[00:08:30] Yeah you should.
[00:08:31] I want to but it's tough.
[00:08:32] We did ice cream on Ben Brad and Beyond once.
[00:08:36] Our radio show that we used to have.
[00:08:37] Nobody cares about that show though.
[00:08:38] Not anymore because it's gone.
[00:08:39] RIP Ben Brad and Beyond.
[00:08:41] And soon to be Ben and Brad.
[00:08:44] But yeah we did ice cream.
[00:08:46] Just nod slowly.
[00:08:47] We did pizza ice cream and we did Kraft macaroni and cheese ice cream.
[00:08:51] Oh no I want like a cookie dough.
[00:08:53] The Kraft mac and cheese one was weird.
[00:08:55] It tasted like cold like Kraft mac and cheese.
[00:08:58] Makes sense.
[00:08:59] And the pizza one was also weird because it tasted like cold mozzarella with like a pizza swirl.
[00:09:03] Those aren't supposed to be ice cream flavors.
[00:09:05] Yeah and it's like yeah bring ice cream but just you know chocolate.
[00:09:07] Yeah no I don't want chocolate because chocolate is too much for me.
[00:09:09] But like.
[00:09:10] Who the fuck.
[00:09:12] What?
[00:09:13] Too much what?
[00:09:14] This fucking guy just said he loved the pink lemon kick ass.
[00:09:15] No no no chocolate.
[00:09:16] It's too much for me.
[00:09:17] Too much.
[00:09:18] All chocolate.
[00:09:19] Motherfucker ate almost a whole can of ketchup and fries Pringles one time.
[00:09:24] And he's like no no chocolate is too much for me.
[00:09:27] What do you mean?
[00:09:28] Too much what?
[00:09:29] I like chocolate as an accent not as the dominating flavor.
[00:09:33] Wow.
[00:09:34] Well I can't argue with that.
[00:09:35] Fair.
[00:09:36] Yeah right thank you.
[00:09:37] Give me like.
[00:09:38] I was like me and milk.
[00:09:39] I hate milk but I'll use it as an ingredient.
[00:09:40] Yeah exactly that's what I'm talking about.
[00:09:41] Shut up Nate.
[00:09:42] Hey.
[00:09:43] Shut up.
[00:09:44] Maybe we should just.
[00:09:45] His brother died.
[00:09:46] Yeah.
[00:09:47] Yeah and he would be pissed too.
[00:09:48] No I think he would.
[00:09:49] Joe loves chocolate.
[00:09:50] In Brooklyn 99 there's the guy the vulture.
[00:09:51] You meet the vulture yet?
[00:09:52] Yes.
[00:09:53] The vulture talked about 2% milk remember that?
[00:09:54] No I didn't see that one.
[00:09:55] It's a TV show it's fun.
[00:09:56] Yeah.
[00:09:57] Yeah.
[00:09:58] I'm not sure if that's true or not.
[00:09:59] I don't know.
[00:10:00] I know that's why I wanted to bring it up.
[00:10:01] Son of a bitch.
[00:10:02] Andy Samberg does movies though.
[00:10:03] That's not the call fire at all.
[00:10:04] Ben what's the last movie you saw?
[00:10:05] Firo Moya?
[00:10:06] The last movie I saw was Furiosa.
[00:10:07] Furiosa.
[00:10:08] Furiosa.
[00:10:09] I'll never get tired of that joke by the way.
[00:10:10] Furiosa.
[00:10:11] It's the best.
[00:10:12] I will.
[00:10:13] I saw it with my friend.
[00:10:14] I know you I think you already are.
[00:10:15] I think you already are tired of me making the internet.
[00:10:16] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:17] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:18] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:19] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:20] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:21] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:22] I'm on a lot of TV shows.
[00:10:30] I'm on the line.
[00:10:31] It's still cute right now.
[00:10:32] But every time you bring it up I think it's great.
[00:10:35] I've never heard it so that's fantastic.
[00:10:36] Yeah see it looks not a listener of the show anymore.
[00:10:38] You stole my joke but go ahead.
[00:10:39] Furiosa.
[00:10:40] I saw it with my friend Luke and my friend Brad.
[00:10:43] That's me.
[00:10:44] And we got out to the theater about two hours ago.
[00:10:48] That's true.
[00:10:49] And it was too long.
[00:10:50] Yes.
[00:10:51] Yeah it is a little too long.
[00:10:52] I will agree with that.
[00:10:53] It is one of the coolest action sequences I've ever seen on a film ever.
[00:10:57] That 10 minute chase?
[00:10:59] No it's like 15 minutes.
[00:11:00] 15 minutes in the middle.
[00:11:01] Incredible.
[00:11:02] They could have ended it after that.
[00:11:03] I would have been like that's a great movie.
[00:11:04] I kept thinking they were going to end it and then a new storyboard would pop up.
[00:11:08] It was just a little too long.
[00:11:09] Well that's not what a storyboard is.
[00:11:10] Whatever.
[00:11:11] I know what you're saying.
[00:11:12] Title card?
[00:11:13] Yeah there you go.
[00:11:14] There you go.
[00:11:15] Yeah it is a tad too long because it's like two hours and 20 minutes and I think
[00:11:18] that it should have been around two hours like Mad Max Fury Road was.
[00:11:22] And some of it is because of the storytelling style.
[00:11:24] It's an odyssey.
[00:11:25] It's more of an epic.
[00:11:26] It's not a two hour chase.
[00:11:28] And so you feel a little bit more.
[00:11:30] I was fine with it honestly.
[00:11:32] Normally when you say you can make a movie shorter it just means you could cut out a
[00:11:36] few scenes here and there.
[00:11:37] I think on this thing you could have chopped the last 20 minutes off.
[00:11:40] I didn't need the last 20 minutes of this movie.
[00:11:44] I'm fine with it though because it does fit.
[00:11:47] It feels like a Greek or a Roman myth the way the story plays out.
[00:11:50] I still like the ending.
[00:11:51] I appreciate what it does for Fury Heroes' story and for Mad Max as a saga.
[00:11:59] It feeds into the lore of it and it makes it feel like a myth rather than just an action
[00:12:03] movie in a way.
[00:12:06] Because I like the way it approaches the ending.
[00:12:08] I won't get into specifics.
[00:12:09] I don't want to spoil it for anybody.
[00:12:11] But I still think that they probably just could have trimmed a little bit of fat
[00:12:14] here and there.
[00:12:15] Sure.
[00:12:16] But oh great action.
[00:12:17] Incredible action.
[00:12:18] Worthy of the big screen.
[00:12:19] Did you like it very much?
[00:12:20] Oh yeah.
[00:12:21] I still really enjoyed it.
[00:12:22] Luke, you were with us.
[00:12:23] What did you think?
[00:12:26] I think I'm in the vast minority that does not really like those movies.
[00:12:30] I didn't really like...
[00:12:31] By those movies wouldn't you?
[00:12:32] I didn't like Fury Road all that much.
[00:12:33] What?
[00:12:34] Yep.
[00:12:35] It's okay.
[00:12:36] It's okay.
[00:12:37] And this one, oh my god.
[00:12:38] I'm like how long is this?
[00:12:40] It just dragged I thought.
[00:12:41] No you're a healthy guy.
[00:12:42] Did you not have snacks?
[00:12:43] Don't get me wrong.
[00:12:44] The action's cool but like...
[00:12:45] Ben and I are shaking our heads just like...
[00:12:47] You didn't need to be disappointed in me.
[00:12:48] I knew.
[00:12:49] No it's okay.
[00:12:51] You're fine.
[00:12:52] I don't know.
[00:12:53] I just...
[00:12:54] Yeah, I mean it happened.
[00:12:55] I won't watch it again.
[00:12:56] Hey, question for you.
[00:12:57] Chris Hemsworth, what did you think of him?
[00:12:58] Because I feel like he was doing something different in this.
[00:12:59] Ben, did you feel that way or no?
[00:13:00] Did you see it?
[00:13:01] No I haven't seen it yet.
[00:13:03] Oh.
[00:13:04] But I'm just saying like...
[00:13:05] How do you feel he's doing something different if you haven't seen it?
[00:13:06] Because the trailer, I did not know it was him in the trailer.
[00:13:07] Yeah he's got a nose.
[00:13:08] He's got a prosthetic nose on.
[00:13:09] Yeah and also just teeth.
[00:13:10] That was distracting.
[00:13:11] I love that.
[00:13:12] I love that.
[00:13:13] I love that.
[00:13:14] I love that.
[00:13:15] I love that.
[00:13:16] I love that.
[00:13:18] I thought he was good in it.
[00:13:25] He does, he's fantastic.
[00:13:28] Yeah.
[00:13:29] I don't know.
[00:13:30] It was weird.
[00:13:31] He doesn't do like a Jason Momoa outlandish drunk genie villain like he did in Fast 10.
[00:13:39] I don't think he was supposed to obviously.
[00:13:42] This was a different way to play it.
[00:13:44] He was...
[00:13:45] I have no problems with what he did.
[00:13:47] I just don't think of it as...
[00:13:48] Like in a year, I'm not going to be like, wow they have him.
[00:13:51] That performance by Chris Hemsworth was really something.
[00:13:54] I just agree.
[00:13:55] It was fine.
[00:13:56] I just agree.
[00:13:57] I like it a lot.
[00:13:58] I honestly think that he's channeling something similar to Heath Ledger's Joker, especially
[00:14:01] in the third act.
[00:14:02] I think that that final scene that he has with Furiosa is like...
[00:14:07] There's some Joker shit in that performance and I get that vibe throughout the entire
[00:14:10] movie.
[00:14:11] He's just being a maniac.
[00:14:12] You know?
[00:14:13] And he's crazy.
[00:14:14] He's unhinged.
[00:14:15] Can I ask you a question?
[00:14:16] Because we're talking about Chris Hemsworth and Finley asked me this question last night.
[00:14:20] Dad, in all the comic book movies you've seen, and this could be DC or Marvel, who
[00:14:25] is your favorite villain?
[00:14:28] You guys want to answer that?
[00:14:31] My favorite villain.
[00:14:32] My answer was...
[00:14:33] I know it's generic.
[00:14:34] I know Thanos is my favorite villain.
[00:14:37] I think Thanos is fantastic.
[00:14:38] You know why Thanos is my favorite?
[00:14:40] Is because there are times when I'm sympathetic to Thanos.
[00:14:44] And I like it complex.
[00:14:45] There's times when Nate would love to kill half of the population.
[00:14:48] No, I mean Thanos' point is you're not taking care of the worlds, right?
[00:14:51] And you guys are headed to destruction.
[00:14:54] And to save you, I'm going to take a painless way out for half of you.
[00:14:58] You will not feel pain.
[00:15:00] You will just not exist anymore.
[00:15:02] Now obviously, that's a villainous thing.
[00:15:04] That's terrible.
[00:15:05] But the whole idea is I'm doing this out of some distorted view of benevolence.
[00:15:11] And I like the complexity of it.
[00:15:12] Well, that's what the best villains do.
[00:15:14] It's like Killmonger.
[00:15:15] I know.
[00:15:16] But a lot of villains are just evil.
[00:15:17] They're the Joker, kind of.
[00:15:21] But that's what makes the best villains though is that they don't think that they're
[00:15:25] evil.
[00:15:26] That's what I'm saying.
[00:15:27] They think that what they're doing makes perfect sense.
[00:15:28] That's my favorite villain.
[00:15:29] But the Joker, at least Heath Ledger's version of the Joker does do that.
[00:15:32] What he is doing does make perfect sense because he's bringing chaos into some place
[00:15:38] where he feels like people don't recognize that there already is chaos.
[00:15:42] So why are you reacting to what I'm doing when this is happening around you every day?
[00:15:45] Yeah.
[00:15:46] I guess that doesn't seem like a benevolent view of like...
[00:15:51] That's just pointing out what he already sees as an issue, right?
[00:15:55] Whereas I think Thanos was saying...
[00:15:58] Hey, Thanos' point was this is going to be really hard for me and I'm probably
[00:16:02] going to pay the ultimate price but ultimately the world will be better because of it,
[00:16:06] right?
[00:16:07] And again, he's wrong.
[00:16:08] But I like that view of...
[00:16:09] I don't know.
[00:16:10] I didn't want to be wrong.
[00:16:12] So who would you guys pick as your favorite comic book villain?
[00:16:15] I mean, it's easy.
[00:16:16] My favorite performance is Heath Ledger's The Joker.
[00:16:19] Okay.
[00:16:20] But I love Alfred Molina as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2.
[00:16:23] Really?
[00:16:24] Yeah.
[00:16:25] Okay.
[00:16:26] Why is that?
[00:16:27] Just the performance or the character itself?
[00:16:28] Both.
[00:16:29] I mean, he's great as Doc Ock and I like the character too because I like the dynamic...
[00:16:34] He's complex.
[00:16:35] Yeah.
[00:16:36] And I like the dynamic he has with Peter before he becomes a villain and then even
[00:16:39] if he was a villain, if he wasn't...
[00:16:40] He's taken over by the chip that fries his brain and starts to control him with the
[00:16:47] arms, then he wouldn't be like that.
[00:16:50] He's a great part of the most recent Spider-Man.
[00:16:52] I like how they did his character there.
[00:16:55] Yeah.
[00:16:56] That was fantastic.
[00:16:57] What about you, Luke?
[00:16:58] I don't know.
[00:16:59] I'm thinking...
[00:17:00] If you think of a lot of the villain...
[00:17:02] I'm playing with that rapper.
[00:17:03] I don't know if you guys can hear it.
[00:17:04] No, you're good.
[00:17:05] I'm going to put that over there because I'm antsy.
[00:17:06] Don't be antsy or pampy.
[00:17:08] I've got too much caffeine.
[00:17:09] You sound like it.
[00:17:10] I know.
[00:17:11] This is me.
[00:17:12] Imagine if I wasn't.
[00:17:13] I don't know.
[00:17:14] Mad Max was fine.
[00:17:15] Thanos had the right idea, right?
[00:17:16] But you could say that for the guy from Black Panther.
[00:17:17] Was it Killmonger?
[00:17:18] Killmonger.
[00:17:19] Yeah, Jerry Billings.
[00:17:20] Fantastic villain.
[00:17:21] Or even Michael Keaton as the Vulture.
[00:17:22] The Vulture.
[00:17:23] He had legitimate reasons.
[00:17:24] Fantastic villain.
[00:17:25] Yep.
[00:17:26] So I don't know.
[00:17:27] I would have to think about it for a while and figure it out.
[00:17:28] My initial would be Killmonger.
[00:17:29] Yeah, that's a good choice.
[00:17:30] The one that actually popped into my head was Michael Keaton in the Spider-Man film
[00:17:34] because they take the time to explain why he becomes a villain.
[00:17:39] I love when they do that.
[00:17:40] Yes.
[00:17:41] Does Marvel do a better job with villains in DC?
[00:17:42] In recent years, yes, absolutely.
[00:17:43] I really like who is the guy who's the villain in the show?
[00:17:44] Yeah, I think he's the villain.
[00:17:45] I think he's the villain.
[00:17:46] I think he's the villain.
[00:17:47] I think he's the villain.
[00:17:48] I think he's the villain.
[00:17:49] He's the villain.
[00:17:50] He's the villain.
[00:17:51] He's the villain.
[00:17:52] He's the villain.
[00:17:53] He's the villain.
[00:17:54] He's the villain.
[00:17:55] He's the villain.
[00:17:56] I really like who is the guy, I cannot remember his name, character name or his actual name.
[00:18:03] This is a fun game.
[00:18:04] No, the Guardians of the Galaxy most recent one, that villain.
[00:18:06] Thanos.
[00:18:07] I liked him a lot.
[00:18:08] Oh, the high evolutionary.
[00:18:09] Yeah, I liked him a lot too.
[00:18:10] I thought he was a good villain.
[00:18:11] Who's that?
[00:18:12] From Guardians of the Galaxy 3, the one who messed with the animals?
[00:18:17] His whole point was I'm going to try to create the perfect society that doesn't fight
[00:18:21] with each other.
[00:18:22] That's because Guardians 3 isn't that good.
[00:18:24] Yeah, I forgot about that movie.
[00:18:25] I like Guardians 3.
[00:18:26] I know you do.
[00:18:27] I know.
[00:18:28] It wasn't terrible.
[00:18:29] No, it wasn't terrible.
[00:18:30] It's just not as good as it was in the first place.
[00:18:31] Especially as the latest Marvel movies have gone, it's one of the better ones.
[00:18:35] Who's the bad guy in the Eternals?
[00:18:36] I think my favorite thing to talk about the quality of a movie and determine whether
[00:18:39] or not it's really good is to measure it up against shit.
[00:18:44] Man.
[00:18:45] Hey, Ben, what else did you see?
[00:18:50] I saw, we talked about it in Inspector Gadget last time.
[00:18:55] Did you re-watch it?
[00:18:56] No, I watched Woody the Woodpecker.
[00:18:58] Oh my God.
[00:18:59] The animated Woody Woodpecker?
[00:19:01] Yep, watched Woody the Woodpecker Goes to Camp.
[00:19:04] Oh, that's the sequel.
[00:19:05] That's like the recent sequel that came out on, I think it was straight to Netflix.
[00:19:09] Oh boy, yeah.
[00:19:10] It was hard.
[00:19:11] Did you say Woody the Woodpecker?
[00:19:13] Sorry, whatever.
[00:19:15] Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp.
[00:19:16] Is that Woody the Woodpecker?
[00:19:18] No, it's not Bugs the Bunny.
[00:19:20] I love Elmer the Fudge.
[00:19:24] By the way, you picked the one that doesn't need this.
[00:19:28] Exactly.
[00:19:29] Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp.
[00:19:30] Funnily enough, it is Marvin the Martian.
[00:19:34] Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp, it just came out.
[00:19:38] Yeah, like literally I think this year, didn't it?
[00:19:40] Yeah, 2024.
[00:19:41] I like to stay recent with the stuff that I watch.
[00:19:44] I'm really a trendsetter.
[00:19:47] Starring Mary Louise Parker.
[00:19:49] Yeah, she's definitely getting up there.
[00:19:52] How is her Woody Woodpecker voice?
[00:19:55] It's pretty great.
[00:19:56] She's going to be 60 this year.
[00:19:58] I heard that over and over.
[00:20:00] What's your best Woody the Woodpecker?
[00:20:02] You sounded like a Furby that was doing an impression of Woody Woodpecker.
[00:20:06] I don't know that you can do a Woody the Woodpecker in a low register.
[00:20:10] It's got to be that way.
[00:20:13] Yeah, I'm a fucking Woody Woodpecker.
[00:20:15] I voiced Woody Woodpecker, guys.
[00:20:17] I got 10 bucks for it.
[00:20:18] I'm not happy about it.
[00:20:19] There you go.
[00:20:20] That's pretty good.
[00:20:21] I'm not going to try it.
[00:20:24] No, now I want to hear Nate try it.
[00:20:26] Come on, Nate.
[00:20:27] No, I'm not.
[00:20:28] Oh, come on.
[00:20:29] We're having fun here.
[00:20:31] He basically screamed into the mic.
[00:20:38] I didn't know that we asked him to do a deranged clown.
[00:20:44] Nate's joker laugh is his Woody Woodpecker impression.
[00:20:48] It was great.
[00:20:49] I imagine it had a strong metaphor at its core, probably, right?
[00:20:54] Yeah.
[00:20:55] Like probably against capitalism or...
[00:20:57] It has a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
[00:21:00] That's better than I thought.
[00:21:02] I'm going to have to go to the bathroom.
[00:21:04] I'm going to have to go to the bathroom.
[00:21:06] I'm going to have to go to the bathroom.
[00:21:08] I'm going to have to go to the bathroom.
[00:21:10] It's a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
[00:21:12] That's better than I thought.
[00:21:14] I've liked movies that were worse scored than that.
[00:21:20] It's just full of the same tropes.
[00:21:23] Did the kids like it?
[00:21:24] Oh, yeah.
[00:21:25] They were wrapped in it.
[00:21:26] There's a lot of visual effects in these types of movies.
[00:21:28] How are the visual effects?
[00:21:29] Does it work?
[00:21:30] Is it live action with CG Woody Woodpecker or is it animated?
[00:21:33] No, it's live action with CG.
[00:21:35] Anybody good in it?
[00:21:37] Mary Louise Parker.
[00:21:38] That's anybody good in it?
[00:21:40] It's Buzz Aldrin.
[00:21:43] He's dead.
[00:21:46] No, I don't think he is.
[00:21:48] Kevin Michael Richardson voices Buzz Buzzard.
[00:21:52] Yeah, he was one of those standouts.
[00:21:55] Great character name.
[00:21:56] It looked like the animation was something from a decade ago.
[00:22:00] That was the jarring thing.
[00:22:02] I think that's why it was straight to Netflix because they did a cheaper version.
[00:22:06] There's definitely not a lot of budget there.
[00:22:09] Woody Woodpecker is a psychopath.
[00:22:11] Oh, yeah.
[00:22:12] He is an absolute unhinged psycho and just no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
[00:22:18] I don't think you ever had them though.
[00:22:20] These days when you make a movie and it's aimed at kids,
[00:22:23] I thought that they were trying a little harder to make it as like a moral and stuff.
[00:22:27] I don't know.
[00:22:28] It was just a lot of rampant destruction and just riding power saws.
[00:22:32] Well, some kids do like to have fun.
[00:22:34] That was great.
[00:22:35] And then last night I watched The Departed.
[00:22:37] Okay, first time, man.
[00:22:39] Yeah, first timer.
[00:22:40] Never seen it before.
[00:22:41] Who'd you think?
[00:22:42] Of course not.
[00:22:43] It's like my fifth time I've seen it.
[00:22:44] I love it.
[00:22:45] Oh, yeah, it's so good.
[00:22:46] It's awesome.
[00:22:47] Talk about your assignment.
[00:22:48] Oh, sorry, Iron Claw.
[00:22:50] Yes, I finished the Iron Claw.
[00:22:51] It is...I had to look it up afterwards because I thought that Zac Efron would have been up for something.
[00:22:57] I was so mad that he wasn't.
[00:22:58] He was incredible.
[00:23:00] Do you think because he's so connected to High School Musical and his like teen acting that people can't take him seriously?
[00:23:07] No, that's not what it was.
[00:23:08] He's fantastic.
[00:23:09] A24 didn't really do...
[00:23:11] They didn't submit it?
[00:23:12] No, it's submitted.
[00:23:14] Any movie that comes out in theaters is submitted.
[00:23:16] They just didn't do a big campaign for it.
[00:23:18] And I think mostly because it costs money to do something like that.
[00:23:21] And they just don't have that kind of money to spend, you know,
[00:23:23] because it essentially would be part of the marketing budget, you know?
[00:23:27] And so they didn't make a big push to campaign for him for it.
[00:23:30] And so he didn't get it.
[00:23:31] I mean, this is a character study about real events.
[00:23:34] And so it's haunting.
[00:23:37] It's tragic.
[00:23:39] It's sad.
[00:23:40] I mean, it's all of those things.
[00:23:41] But the whole time I didn't want to turn it off because it was too sad.
[00:23:45] You just kept wanting it to get better.
[00:23:47] Not like the movie, but like for them.
[00:23:50] It's just every time that you seem like they're going to turn a corner or something good is going to happen,
[00:23:54] it's just like wham slamming your head in a car door again.
[00:23:57] And I will say, too, if you if you don't know the story before you watch the movie the first time,
[00:24:02] I'm not a wrestling guy, so I didn't.
[00:24:04] Yeah, I didn't know the story.
[00:24:05] I knew it was going to be a sad story because I had heard I didn't know what happened.
[00:24:09] But having seen it a couple of times since seeing it the first time,
[00:24:12] it hits even harder the second time because you know what's coming
[00:24:16] and it makes those good moments where you're like really enjoying seeing the brothers together and stuff like that.
[00:24:21] It makes it that much worse because you're like, fuck, like hell is coming for this family.
[00:24:25] And the whole thing like where like he misses having brothers, you know,
[00:24:32] and it's kind of too spoilery.
[00:24:35] But I want you to see it if you you can't you just got to press play, though.
[00:24:40] You can't just think about I'm not in a good enough mood because there's nothing that's going to prepare you to have a bad time,
[00:24:47] you know, watching this family destroy itself and have the father for the record loves his boy.
[00:24:53] I don't know. This is a movie about a wrestling pan.
[00:24:55] Yeah, sorry. I apologize. It's a real life story about a guy who sports who had the the world world championship something.
[00:25:04] WCCW not the WCW or the WWEF, which we can the real wrestling or this is like late 70s.
[00:25:13] It's real wrestling in the sense of like their stuff that's scripted and like they're doing it.
[00:25:18] So it's WWEF. Yeah, it's WWEF type of stuff.
[00:25:21] Olympic wrestling. No, no, not Olympic wrestling.
[00:25:23] But like, yeah, no. And so they have a very powerful father figure who is that's why I did the rankings at the beginning because he does that.
[00:25:31] He ranks his kids. He pins them against each other.
[00:25:33] And says like you have but remember, you can always change the rankings.
[00:25:36] And it's like any justice really hard, really hard on him.
[00:25:39] And, you know, one of them is trying to be a musician.
[00:25:41] One of them is in the is an Olympian.
[00:25:44] I've seen this movie and I don't know a ton about it.
[00:25:47] But don't the boys come from a it's like a wrestling dynasty type of family.
[00:25:52] Yes, because of the father. Yeah.
[00:25:53] The father was it was an original wrestler and he pushed pushed pushed the boys into wrestling.
[00:25:57] And so Zac Efron is the one who's kind of like the lead.
[00:26:01] He wants the one of the other brothers to get into wrestling as well.
[00:26:06] And then another brother is he's supposed to go to the Olympics as a discus.
[00:26:10] Yeah. But then it's the year that they decide that U.S.
[00:26:14] Decided not to go to the Olympics because of Russia.
[00:26:18] Yeah, the Cold War.
[00:26:20] And then another one was very musically inclined, but that didn't matter to the dead.
[00:26:24] You know, of course, he didn't care about that.
[00:26:26] And if it wasn't so well acted and it wasn't so well written, then this could be a very trope filled movie.
[00:26:33] But the things that would normally just be like, here's the beats of a travesty.
[00:26:37] And this is it's the way that shot.
[00:26:39] It's the way that it's the way that they act together.
[00:26:42] All the brothers are unbelievable when the brothers are sharing scenes together is incredible.
[00:26:47] But and you feel you feel so bad for them.
[00:26:50] Yeah, I know. Right. Gosh.
[00:26:51] All right. I just I can't say enough about like see this movie, but you're going to be really sad the whole time, you know,
[00:26:55] because it's a real gut punch every single time something happens.
[00:26:58] I don't want to spoil anything, but there's a scene I'll talk to you later about it after the show.
[00:27:02] Where something happens to one of them physically.
[00:27:05] And it's just like, holy shit.
[00:27:07] Jeremy Allen White, though, too, is fantastic.
[00:27:10] I don't know if he's great in this, but he's becoming one of my favorite actors.
[00:27:13] He's so good.
[00:27:14] Hundred percent.
[00:27:15] The guy from the bear.
[00:27:16] Yes.
[00:27:17] This TV show.
[00:27:18] Yeah.
[00:27:19] All right.
[00:27:20] The Iron Claw is on Max right now if you want to watch it.
[00:27:23] So I recommend checking it out.
[00:27:24] And I think Ben does, too.
[00:27:25] Yeah. For sure.
[00:27:26] It's a story about fathers and sons.
[00:27:31] So, yeah, that those are.
[00:27:33] But actually, hey, I watched a couple of things, guys.
[00:27:35] Time for you, buddy.
[00:27:36] Right. Glad we did it.
[00:27:37] Yeah.
[00:27:38] How about you, buddy?
[00:27:39] What's the movie you watched?
[00:27:40] I've watched I watched two movies this last week.
[00:27:43] First one was a film assigned to me by Brad called Colossal.
[00:27:47] And it released what?
[00:27:49] 2018, 2019, maybe 18.
[00:27:51] No, 16, 16, 18.
[00:27:54] It stars Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis and Dan Stevens as the three major kind of main
[00:27:59] actors that you've heard of.
[00:28:00] And it's such an interesting movie this was.
[00:28:04] And everything I knew about this film and why I didn't watch it is I didn't like the
[00:28:09] poster.
[00:28:11] It's hard to convey what the movie is about in a poster.
[00:28:15] So that's probably the worst way to like.
[00:28:17] And the poster does not convey at all the feeling of this.
[00:28:21] No idea.
[00:28:22] Nate, tell Luke what this is.
[00:28:23] So this is a film about.
[00:28:25] Nate, tell Luke what this is.
[00:28:26] Anne Hathaway plays a woman who is an alcoholic whose life is a little bit in disarray and
[00:28:33] she moves back home because of her alcoholism, essentially.
[00:28:37] She's in a relationship with Dan Stevens.
[00:28:39] It does not work out because of, again, her addiction.
[00:28:42] She goes home and she connects with Jason Sudeikis at the same time.
[00:28:46] There's a monster that appears in South Korea.
[00:28:51] Like a real Godzilla type.
[00:28:52] Like a Kaiju.
[00:28:53] And she finds out that she can control this monster.
[00:28:58] And so, yeah, it sounds.
[00:29:00] Here's the crazy thing.
[00:29:01] It sounds weird.
[00:29:02] It sounds super sci-fi, but it almost has this.
[00:29:04] And, Badd, I get why you like this.
[00:29:06] It almost has this indie movie feel to it.
[00:29:09] And it is because it played festivals and stuff.
[00:29:12] Almost like a Zach Braffy type of film to it in its exposition of like the
[00:29:19] relationship between her and Jason Sudeikis.
[00:29:22] And so, Jason Sudeikis is a friend from high school who ends up owning the bar that his dad.
[00:29:28] She's an alcoholic.
[00:29:30] So it's just an interesting film about addiction, about.
[00:29:38] Monsters are part of it, but the monster is the addiction, right?
[00:29:42] And so the monster is the desire.
[00:29:44] The monster is all these kind of things.
[00:29:46] And so it's kind of a master class in manipulation and in relationships.
[00:29:51] And Hathaway is fantastic in this.
[00:29:53] She's so good.
[00:29:54] I don't want to give anything away, but all I will say is that Jason Sudeikis is particularly fantastic.
[00:29:59] I thought so too.
[00:30:00] Because it doesn't mean you don't expect.
[00:30:02] If you look at the movie poster, it is.
[00:30:04] This film is so much more heart, honestly, or just like more complex than the.
[00:30:11] Because this came out at the same time.
[00:30:13] There was a film that came out roughly at the same time about a kid and a monster.
[00:30:18] And I cannot remember the film.
[00:30:20] Mack and me.
[00:30:21] Yes, that's exactly right.
[00:30:23] Paul Rudd told me about it.
[00:30:26] And I cannot remember.
[00:30:28] I'll think of it later.
[00:30:29] But you're talking about a monster calls, right?
[00:30:31] Maybe.
[00:30:32] Right. Is it a monster cause?
[00:30:33] Well, you love that movie.
[00:30:34] But did you come out at the same time though?
[00:30:36] Maybe.
[00:30:37] The BFG.
[00:30:38] And so I end up seeing a monster cause.
[00:30:40] Yep.
[00:30:41] And the monster cause came out in 2016 as well.
[00:30:43] You forgot about a movie that he assigned to me that he loves so much.
[00:30:46] I just forgot the name.
[00:30:47] But I saw that and I liked that.
[00:30:49] And I saw the previews for this.
[00:30:51] I'm like, I saw my monster film.
[00:30:53] No.
[00:30:54] Totally different.
[00:30:55] Very, very different.
[00:30:56] Because this isn't necessarily a monster film.
[00:30:58] What I like about this is that it is a high concept sci-fi movie on its own.
[00:31:03] That would work.
[00:31:05] But it does blend it with what you would normally expect from an indie romantic comedy.
[00:31:10] And it bridges them together in a really cool way.
[00:31:12] So this was a great suggestion.
[00:31:14] I really enjoyed this film.
[00:31:15] I'm glad you did.
[00:31:16] It's only like an hour and a half.
[00:31:17] It's not real long.
[00:31:18] Yeah, it's a breeze.
[00:31:19] Yep.
[00:31:20] Another one I saw was a documentary on Disney Plus.
[00:31:24] I'm a huge fan of music documentaries.
[00:31:28] I just love them.
[00:31:29] And a couple years ago, maybe it was last year, two years ago, there was a documentary called The Beatles Get Back.
[00:31:38] Do you remember that?
[00:31:39] And directed by Peter Jackson.
[00:31:41] It was really good.
[00:31:42] And it talked about in 1970, the Beatles made this album called Let It Be.
[00:31:47] And it's all great songs.
[00:31:49] It's wonderful.
[00:31:50] Especially when you find yourself in times of trouble.
[00:31:52] Yeah.
[00:31:53] If you're not seeing it, see it.
[00:31:54] But I watched the new one that's out, a new music documentary called The Beach Boys.
[00:31:58] I loved The Beach Boys.
[00:32:00] It's funny that you brought this up because in a completely different direction, I thought you were going to talk about that you watched the recently re-released Let It Be documentary.
[00:32:06] No.
[00:32:07] I'm just saying Disney Plus is releasing these music documentaries.
[00:32:11] Yeah, they have a very cool collection of music documentaries.
[00:32:13] So their latest one is The Beach Boys.
[00:32:14] Especially when everybody's going surfing.
[00:32:16] But this actually is connected to-
[00:32:19] Well, at least everybody's learning how.
[00:32:21] What Ben talked about with Dad.
[00:32:24] This is a Dad movie.
[00:32:25] The Beach Boys, obviously three brothers, a cousin and a neighbor friend.
[00:32:30] I like how you said obviously.
[00:32:33] Well, I assume that people know that the Wilson Brothers are part of The Beach Boys.
[00:32:37] I knew that the Wilson Brothers were.
[00:32:38] I didn't know that there was a cousin and a best friend.
[00:32:40] Mike Love is the cousin.
[00:32:43] He's the cousin of the band.
[00:32:44] More importantly, they're all from the same town surfing US.
[00:32:48] Fun fact.
[00:32:50] Fun fact.
[00:32:51] None of The Beach Boys could surf.
[00:32:53] When I found that out in the documentary, I felt hoodwinked.
[00:32:56] That sounds like such a fucking wool over your eyes.
[00:32:59] Like, fuck you, Beach Boys.
[00:33:01] You can't even surf.
[00:33:02] It was like, and they're like, no, we tried it.
[00:33:04] And I almost drowned.
[00:33:05] I didn't like it.
[00:33:06] Fun fact.
[00:33:07] The Beach Boys never been to the beach.
[00:33:09] Also formed the band when they were men.
[00:33:12] So this story's really interesting because Brian Wilson, who is the chief songwriter for-
[00:33:17] He writes most of the music for The Beach Boys.
[00:33:21] I didn't know this bipolar has a lot of mental health issues.
[00:33:25] I did know that.
[00:33:27] Yeah.
[00:33:28] I mean, I knew he had some of that, but I didn't know that-
[00:33:29] Pretty famously.
[00:33:30] Even from the beginning he had it, he would write the songs and they would travel without him.
[00:33:36] Like even as 20 year olds, right?
[00:33:38] He did not go on tour.
[00:33:39] I thought he had like a breakdown 10 years into the band or something, right?
[00:33:42] Well, I guess it wasn't really that everybody was going surfing then.
[00:33:46] No, we established none of them, boy.
[00:33:48] Such an asshole.
[00:33:51] He would write all the music and they would go on tour and then he'd be like, guys, you got to come home.
[00:33:55] I got to record more.
[00:33:56] And I love the album Pet Sounds.
[00:33:58] It's just a fantastic album.
[00:33:59] If you've never listened to it, it's one of the greatest albums of all time.
[00:34:02] It's really good.
[00:34:03] Did they actually own pets?
[00:34:05] I think they did.
[00:34:07] They probably didn't.
[00:34:09] It's all a lie.
[00:34:10] The Beach Boys are just posers.
[00:34:12] But it's just wonderful and the dad was a put-
[00:34:15] Like what is it with musical artists, especially in the 60s and 70s, you've got Jackson 5, you've got all these family bands.
[00:34:23] The dads pushed them so hard.
[00:34:25] I'm not even sure that's just a trait in music in general.
[00:34:28] I think it was just dads in the 60s and 70s who went to World War II and took it out on their kids.
[00:34:33] Yeah, that could be it, right?
[00:34:35] So Murray Wilson is their dad and they end up firing him and they have like a breakdown because of it.
[00:34:40] Like it's really hard for them because their dad is so controlling and he's so dominating.
[00:34:46] Murray is such a good domineering dad name.
[00:34:49] You can just hear the moms scream, Murray, you leave him alone.
[00:34:53] I mean Murray is the name of the dad in the Goldbergs.
[00:34:56] So I don't know.
[00:34:58] It was fun.
[00:34:59] I didn't like it as much as the Beatles get back out our documentary because that focused on a specific moment in time.
[00:35:06] This is the whole kind of life of the Beach Boys.
[00:35:09] But a lot of fun.
[00:35:10] I love the Beach Boys.
[00:35:12] Even if you don't actually fin wash it with me, he enjoyed it.
[00:35:15] It was a good little documentary.
[00:35:16] Disney Plus is doing some good stuff with those music documentaries.
[00:35:20] They are.
[00:35:21] So watch anything else?
[00:35:22] Lucas.
[00:35:23] Yes, sir.
[00:35:24] Is that your real name?
[00:35:25] No.
[00:35:26] Just Luke.
[00:35:27] It's Lukeford.
[00:35:28] Lukeford.
[00:35:29] Lucca the.
[00:35:30] Well, Lucca the.
[00:35:32] What have you seen lately?
[00:35:34] My wife and I went and saw Fall Guy.
[00:35:36] I really liked it.
[00:35:38] She didn't like it as much as I did.
[00:35:41] Same thing.
[00:35:42] It was kind of a little too long.
[00:35:44] 20 minutes.
[00:35:45] Yeah.
[00:35:46] But I really liked it.
[00:35:47] It's really fun.
[00:35:48] And before that, I saw Abigail, which I absolutely loved.
[00:35:54] Hell yeah, Luke.
[00:35:55] Loved it like 10 out of 10.
[00:35:58] I highly recommend it to everybody.
[00:36:00] So much fun.
[00:36:01] It's unbelievable.
[00:36:02] No, Nate, you would even like this movie because even though it is a horror movie.
[00:36:10] So here, it's billed as a horror movie.
[00:36:12] But it's a horror heist comedy.
[00:36:14] Basically, it's hysterical.
[00:36:16] Yeah, it's really funny.
[00:36:17] What are you?
[00:36:18] You don't like scary movies?
[00:36:19] He hates scary movies.
[00:36:20] It's not scary though.
[00:36:21] Yeah, it's not really scary.
[00:36:22] I mean, it's a young girl who.
[00:36:24] It does have Melissa Barrara in it.
[00:36:26] And I.
[00:36:27] I don't know who that is.
[00:36:28] She's from the new Scream movies.
[00:36:29] She's Abigail.
[00:36:30] She's the main girl.
[00:36:31] She's also from the Heights.
[00:36:32] She's not Abigail.
[00:36:33] Oh, I'm sorry.
[00:36:34] She's from the Heights and she's wonderful.
[00:36:35] So it's.
[00:36:36] I feel like they have to bill it as a horror movie because it.
[00:36:40] Spoiler.
[00:36:41] She's a vampire.
[00:36:42] Yeah.
[00:36:43] I know, right?
[00:36:44] But I actually wish there was a way to see this movie without knowing that going in.
[00:36:48] Because that would have been a really cool like reveal.
[00:36:51] But there's no like it's not a scary movie.
[00:36:54] There's a couple of jump scenes, but that's it.
[00:36:56] Yeah, it's dispensable.
[00:36:57] It's not scary.
[00:36:58] Yeah.
[00:36:59] I absolutely loved every second of it.
[00:37:01] Do you want to come over and watch it sometime?
[00:37:03] Me and you.
[00:37:04] That's fine.
[00:37:05] I'll watch it.
[00:37:06] Actually, that sounded less like the movie and more like.
[00:37:10] I tell you right now.
[00:37:11] I don't really just want to hang out with you.
[00:37:12] He's more likely to watch it by himself.
[00:37:13] Exactly.
[00:37:14] Is there anything funny in this film?
[00:37:16] We just say.
[00:37:17] Make it off your computer.
[00:37:18] But no, like really funny.
[00:37:19] No, seriously.
[00:37:20] There were numerous.
[00:37:21] Numerous parts.
[00:37:22] That's kind of cute funny.
[00:37:23] No, no.
[00:37:24] It's laugh out loud funny.
[00:37:25] OK, yeah.
[00:37:26] I laughed.
[00:37:27] There are two or three characters in it are just funny characters.
[00:37:30] Dan Stevens.
[00:37:31] Some people are like it's funny if they kill people.
[00:37:33] No, Dan Stevens in particular has two or three lines that will like make you laugh super hard.
[00:37:38] Who is he?
[00:37:39] Which guy is he?
[00:37:40] He's the ex cop.
[00:37:41] Gaston.
[00:37:42] That doesn't help me.
[00:37:43] That's also true.
[00:37:44] No, no, he's not Gaston.
[00:37:45] That's Luke Evans.
[00:37:46] He drinks.
[00:37:47] Oh, he's the beast.
[00:37:48] Yeah.
[00:37:49] He drinks a couple of blood in the movie and he goes, what's this decaf?
[00:37:54] And it's super funny.
[00:37:55] You have seen it.
[00:37:56] Yeah.
[00:37:57] And then Kevin Durant is in it and he plays like a big dumb dumb and he's funny
[00:38:00] too.
[00:38:01] There are numerous parts where I was laughing out loud.
[00:38:03] Decaf.
[00:38:04] Kevin Durant kind of scares you.
[00:38:05] Like if I saw him in real life he would scare me.
[00:38:07] Oh no, he's the guy that's in the movie.
[00:38:09] If I saw him in real life he would scare me.
[00:38:10] Oh no, he's a big guy.
[00:38:11] Yeah.
[00:38:12] I tried to do a better joke for editing.
[00:38:13] What else did I see?
[00:38:14] It wasn't good to begin with so don't worry about it.
[00:38:15] What else have I seen since the last time I was on the podcast?
[00:38:17] Any good TV shows?
[00:38:18] No.
[00:38:19] I saw Late Night with the Devil.
[00:38:20] Oh, I haven't seen that yet.
[00:38:21] Oh, how is that?
[00:38:22] But I heard it's really good.
[00:38:23] How is that?
[00:38:24] It's not as scary as I thought it was going to be.
[00:38:26] It's weird.
[00:38:29] I enjoyed it though.
[00:38:30] Like it's just weird.
[00:38:32] Tell people what it's about, Luke.
[00:38:36] Basically it's 1970s-ish.
[00:38:39] Late 70s, early 80s and it's a good late night talk show host.
[00:38:43] He's competing with Johnny Carson and he wants to get higher ratings.
[00:38:46] So on Halloween night one year he brings on a medium and then he also brings on
[00:38:53] a girl who claims to be possessed by a demon.
[00:38:57] And so he brings her and the therapist she's working with on and they do a live
[00:39:03] interview and I'm assuming you can figure things kind of go off the rails from there.
[00:39:09] Things take a turn.
[00:39:10] They do.
[00:39:11] But it's really good.
[00:39:13] I enjoyed it.
[00:39:14] It stars David Desmeltian who you might know as Polka Dot Man from Suicide Squad
[00:39:18] or one of the Ant Man crew people from the first two Ant Man movies.
[00:39:22] Kurt.
[00:39:23] His name is Kurt.
[00:39:24] There you go.
[00:39:25] OK.
[00:39:26] Oh, he is in the Ant Man crew.
[00:39:27] He is in the Ant Man crew.
[00:39:28] He's from Dark Knight.
[00:39:31] That's true.
[00:39:32] That was like his first kind of like quote unquote breakout.
[00:39:35] He plays though.
[00:39:36] DC Marvel.
[00:39:37] He does it all.
[00:39:38] He does.
[00:39:39] He does.
[00:39:40] Thomas Schiff is his name in Dark Knight.
[00:39:41] Yeah.
[00:39:42] Cool.
[00:39:43] He plays the guy that they think is Joker but then and then Harvey Dent
[00:39:46] kidnaps him and squawdye tortures them.
[00:39:49] Yeah.
[00:39:50] Fun.
[00:39:51] You like this Ben?
[00:39:52] I don't at all.
[00:39:53] This is so boring.
[00:39:54] He's also in Weirdo Al Yankovich story.
[00:39:56] That's true.
[00:39:57] And he's John Deacon.
[00:39:58] Yeah.
[00:39:59] Did you know that?
[00:40:00] I just wish Nate didn't have his computer.
[00:40:02] I'm just saying.
[00:40:03] But then we couldn't record the podcast.
[00:40:04] Also, I didn't know this.
[00:40:05] He was in Oppenheimer.
[00:40:06] Yeah.
[00:40:07] He actually has a key role in Oppenheimer.
[00:40:09] He plays the bomb.
[00:40:10] I saw Oppenheimer.
[00:40:11] That was a long time ago.
[00:40:14] That's been a minute.
[00:40:17] Oh, that's anything else Luke you want to talk about?
[00:40:20] Oh, I have plenty of things I can talk about.
[00:40:22] Let's do one more.
[00:40:23] Another movie that I've seen?
[00:40:24] Yeah.
[00:40:25] Or TV show.
[00:40:26] No.
[00:40:27] No.
[00:40:29] I can't think of any movies off the top of my head.
[00:40:33] I normally go during breaks.
[00:40:35] So summer hit, I'm going to be going to the movies a whole bunch.
[00:40:38] What are you excited to see?
[00:40:40] Anything this summer?
[00:40:41] Coming up.
[00:40:42] What were some previews?
[00:40:43] I'll probably end up going to see Bad Boys even though I'm not excited about it.
[00:40:46] Bad Boys for Life.
[00:40:47] Did you guys see that Martin Lawrence, like Will Smith was helping him?
[00:40:51] Like he can barely walk kind of thing.
[00:40:53] Yeah, I could buy it from that.
[00:40:54] Yeah, he looks old.
[00:40:55] He does.
[00:40:56] Inside out.
[00:40:57] That'll be good.
[00:40:58] Inside out too.
[00:40:59] Twisters?
[00:41:00] Twisters, I might go see them.
[00:41:01] Oh, I'll see Twisters.
[00:41:02] I will tell you this.
[00:41:03] I'll see the fuck out of Twisters in the theater.
[00:41:04] I will see them in the theater.
[00:41:05] My mom hated Twister.
[00:41:08] What?
[00:41:09] Simply because Helen Hunt.
[00:41:11] I remember this.
[00:41:12] I've told you this?
[00:41:13] Tell the story though because it's actually so funny like this is the reason.
[00:41:16] Helen Hunt because she wore that white tank top and she said that's not realistic
[00:41:22] because it was bad weather and there was no way that she would be running around in that shirt.
[00:41:25] So I would call.
[00:41:26] That's fine, right?
[00:41:27] That's fine.
[00:41:28] You can have an opinion and you're a mom so I get it.
[00:41:30] But you got to say like for years after.
[00:41:34] Oh yeah, till her dying day.
[00:41:36] Hey mom, I'm watching a movie.
[00:41:37] Oh yeah, what are you watching?
[00:41:38] I'll give you a guess.
[00:41:40] It's Helen Hunt.
[00:41:41] Oh my God.
[00:41:42] Just like had disdain for Helen Hunt.
[00:41:45] That stupid tornado movie.
[00:41:46] For the rest of her life.
[00:41:48] Where she's running around trying to steal that poor woman.
[00:41:52] She just wanted to get those papers signed and that she was running around in the rain
[00:41:57] with that white tank top.
[00:41:58] She knew what she was doing that whole time.
[00:42:00] She knew my God.
[00:42:01] Helen Hunt knew.
[00:42:02] Helen Hunt knew what she was doing in that white tank top.
[00:42:05] I called one time and I put her on speaker phone because I told my wife.
[00:42:08] I said she hates this movie because of her.
[00:42:11] Well, she can't be that bad.
[00:42:13] I guarantee she brings it up and I say hey we're watching Twister.
[00:42:17] Oh my God.
[00:42:18] She got that white tank top on you.
[00:42:20] She does.
[00:42:21] I love that so much.
[00:42:23] Which is cool because it looks like Twister's, the guys wearing the white tank top kind
[00:42:27] of flipping it now.
[00:42:28] Okay.
[00:42:29] Yeah.
[00:42:30] I'll go see it.
[00:42:31] I'll watch Glenn Paul and that.
[00:42:32] That's his name.
[00:42:33] I couldn't remember.
[00:42:34] Hope that tank top gets wet.
[00:42:35] Oh it will.
[00:42:36] Easy buddy.
[00:42:37] I have a question for you Luke.
[00:42:38] You said maybe Inside Out 2 you might go see.
[00:42:41] So I take it you see some cartoons.
[00:42:43] Yeah.
[00:42:44] Have you seen the Despicable Me franchise?
[00:42:46] Not one.
[00:42:47] Why?
[00:42:48] The Minions annoy me as well they should.
[00:42:53] You can go Dynifier both of you.
[00:42:56] I love the Minions.
[00:42:57] I'm with them.
[00:42:58] I do too.
[00:42:59] I think they're adorable.
[00:43:00] Adorable, fun and funny.
[00:43:02] Did you know that because I watched a couple shorts with the boys.
[00:43:05] Were they hilarious?
[00:43:06] Which by the way just sounds like I hang out with my friends.
[00:43:08] We watched a couple shorts with the boys.
[00:43:10] We got together crack open a six pack.
[00:43:13] We watched Minions.
[00:43:14] Watch Kevin just fuck shit up.
[00:43:16] When you put on closed captioning it says in Minionese.
[00:43:19] That's cute.
[00:43:20] Isn't it adorable?
[00:43:21] What about Deadpool and Wolverine?
[00:43:24] Oh yeah that's probably number one.
[00:43:26] I'm looking forward to that.
[00:43:27] Number one?
[00:43:28] Yeah that will be definitely I'm definitely seeing that.
[00:43:30] What about A Quiet Place day one?
[00:43:32] I don't go to the theater for A Quiet Place movies because I don't trust the people in the crowd.
[00:43:37] What about the bike riders?
[00:43:39] I will not see that.
[00:43:40] Tom Hattie?
[00:43:41] Why?
[00:43:42] I'm super sure.
[00:43:43] I have no desire.
[00:43:44] You just don't like bikes?
[00:43:45] Yeah.
[00:43:46] Bikes!
[00:43:47] They're fine.
[00:43:48] Bikes!
[00:43:49] You don't like bikes.
[00:43:50] What about Borderlands?
[00:43:51] Did that look good to you?
[00:43:52] What's that?
[00:43:53] Borderlands based on the video game.
[00:43:54] Is that one we just watched?
[00:43:55] No it's with big ensemble cast Kate Blanchett, Kevin Hart.
[00:43:59] Oh I haven't actually seen that preview.
[00:44:02] I've seen the poster.
[00:44:03] Imagine a preview that is trying to be Guardians of the Galaxy and you're like
[00:44:07] oh I'm not going to watch that.
[00:44:08] I'm going to watch that.
[00:44:09] I've seen the poster.
[00:44:10] Imagine a preview that is trying to be Guardians of the Galaxy and you got it.
[00:44:14] Then no, I'll pass.
[00:44:15] Keep them coming.
[00:44:16] Alien Romulus.
[00:44:17] I like this game.
[00:44:18] Alien Romulus.
[00:44:19] We saw the trailer for that today?
[00:44:20] No, I'll pass.
[00:44:21] What?
[00:44:22] I like where Luke's all over the place.
[00:44:25] He's a mad man.
[00:44:26] He's like the Dementus of movie trailers.
[00:44:29] The Crow?
[00:44:30] I saw it years ago.
[00:44:32] Let me say something.
[00:44:33] No, no, no, no.
[00:44:34] For the first time ever, no.
[00:44:36] You shut the fuck up.
[00:44:37] Is that a new one coming out?
[00:44:38] I didn't give a shit about the original Crow and I'm not going to start caring about a new
[00:44:42] Crow.
[00:44:43] Who's in it?
[00:44:44] Bill Skarsgard is Eric Draven and FK Twigs is...
[00:44:49] That's not a real name.
[00:44:50] FK Twigs is not a real name.
[00:44:51] FK Twigs.
[00:44:52] It's called, it's fucka Twigs.
[00:44:53] That'd be funny.
[00:44:54] What about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?
[00:44:55] Yeah, I'll probably see that.
[00:44:56] I have to go by myself.
[00:44:57] My wife hates that, hates Beetlejuice.
[00:44:58] What?
[00:44:59] She says he's too gross.
[00:45:00] He's supposed to be.
[00:45:01] I'm not going to watch that.
[00:45:02] I'm going to watch that.
[00:45:03] I'm going to watch that.
[00:45:04] I'm going to watch that.
[00:45:05] I'm going to watch that.
[00:45:06] I'm going to watch that.
[00:45:07] He's supposed to be.
[00:45:08] That's what I was thinking.
[00:45:09] I get it.
[00:45:10] I get it.
[00:45:11] I agree.
[00:45:12] Keep on coming.
[00:45:13] Let's go.
[00:45:14] What else am I going to see?
[00:45:15] We're getting into September though.
[00:45:16] Welcome to...
[00:45:17] Are you going to see this, Luke?
[00:45:19] Transformers 1?
[00:45:20] No.
[00:45:21] It looks like shit.
[00:45:22] The wild robot.
[00:45:23] You better see the wild robot.
[00:45:24] It looks fantastic.
[00:45:25] You'll cry.
[00:45:26] I don't even know what that is.
[00:45:27] It's an animated movie.
[00:45:28] Say I'm going to cry.
[00:45:29] I'll cry.
[00:45:30] It's an animated movie.
[00:45:31] It looks good.
[00:45:32] Is it anime or animated?
[00:45:33] Animated.
[00:45:34] They should have called that one the Iron Claw then.
[00:45:35] Oh, that's it.
[00:45:36] Wolves.
[00:45:37] Wolves?
[00:45:38] Wolves.
[00:45:39] No, it's called Wolves.
[00:45:40] I know, but that's not how you say the plural of wolf.
[00:45:43] That's not how you say it.
[00:45:44] I will see that.
[00:45:45] We'll talk about that later, Nate.
[00:45:46] I just didn't know if he was going to see it.
[00:45:49] Piece of shit.
[00:45:50] Before I go...
[00:45:51] Are you going to leave the podcast in the middle of it?
[00:45:55] Yeah, my part's over.
[00:45:56] I know I'm not going to get to talk too much.
[00:45:57] I'm going to get to hear it.
[00:45:58] The new yearly segment, what is Luke going to see?
[00:45:59] Exactly.
[00:46:00] That's why you come on so we can read through the films and you make a mental
[00:46:05] list.
[00:46:06] Thanks, guys.
[00:46:07] Now I know what I'm going to do up until September.
[00:46:08] My summer's set.
[00:46:09] It's always right when you get out of school.
[00:46:11] Absolutely.
[00:46:12] It's usually right after I get out that week and then the week before I go back.
[00:46:15] Yep.
[00:46:16] We'll let you know every tickle time.
[00:46:17] My niece loves anime and she texted, hey, can we go see...
[00:46:21] What's that one where...
[00:46:22] I don't remember.
[00:46:23] Oh, Spirited Away.
[00:46:24] I'm like...
[00:46:25] Oh yeah, they're doing a Studio Jibri thing where they're playing all the movies
[00:46:27] and theaters this year.
[00:46:28] No thanks.
[00:46:29] Didn't we see that already?
[00:46:30] And she's like, did we?
[00:46:31] I said, yeah, I think there's a part where the ghost is on a train or something.
[00:46:35] Oh yeah.
[00:46:36] Can we go anyway?
[00:46:37] There's a ghost on a train in every anime.
[00:46:40] Yeah, so we went and it was just as long as the first time I saw it.
[00:46:45] She really likes it.
[00:46:46] It's fine.
[00:46:47] Good music.
[00:46:48] People love Studio Jibri.
[00:46:49] Here's your new one, Puri Luke.
[00:46:50] Yes they do.
[00:46:51] Here's your new one, Puri Luke.
[00:46:52] Yeah, bring it.
[00:46:53] Beverly Hills Cop Axel AF.
[00:46:54] I kind of have to.
[00:46:55] I know but I like Axel AF.
[00:46:56] It really should be Axel AF though.
[00:46:59] Axel is fuck.
[00:47:00] Yeah, I have to.
[00:47:03] I like the first one a lot and then they made the next two.
[00:47:07] They sure did.
[00:47:08] They did.
[00:47:10] That third one was something.
[00:47:12] I love that they're probably just totally blowing off the TV show even though they
[00:47:15] made Brandon T. Jackson's character canonically Axel Foley's son in the show.
[00:47:20] I didn't even know there was a show.
[00:47:21] I didn't either.
[00:47:22] Yeah.
[00:47:23] When is that?
[00:47:24] Axel AF comes out in July on Netflix.
[00:47:26] On Netflix.
[00:47:27] Never mind, I won't see it.
[00:47:28] I don't have Netflix.
[00:47:29] Huh.
[00:47:30] I guess I could get Netflix.
[00:47:32] I wouldn't worry about it.
[00:47:33] No, just do what I do.
[00:47:36] When Ben goes away, just come over to his house and watch it.
[00:47:39] It's true.
[00:47:40] We know how to get in the house.
[00:47:41] Easy.
[00:47:42] If you want the code, let me know.
[00:47:45] Easy.
[00:47:46] You want to come over and hang out with Ben and he's gone.
[00:47:47] Me and A are going to be here.
[00:47:48] Oh my God, how often do you do this?
[00:47:50] How often don't we do it?
[00:47:51] I mean if you're gone, why would we?
[00:47:52] How often do you go out of town?
[00:47:53] Kind of a lot.
[00:47:54] And it's a little jarring right now because I'm thinking about all the times I go out
[00:47:57] of town.
[00:47:58] Why do you think we're so annoyed that you put too many pinball machines?
[00:48:00] We can't have as many people over.
[00:48:01] Oh God.
[00:48:02] Brad, what's the last movie you saw?
[00:48:04] Thanks for asking.
[00:48:08] I watched a couple of new movies.
[00:48:10] One of them...
[00:48:11] That's funny.
[00:48:12] That's funny, guy.
[00:48:14] I watched In A Violent Nature, which is a new horror movie.
[00:48:19] That looks interesting.
[00:48:20] That is, it's in theaters now and it's also going to be on Shutter at some point.
[00:48:25] This is a slasher movie, but it's quote unquote, told from the perspective of the killer.
[00:48:31] And I say that because not everything is necessarily from the point of view of the
[00:48:34] killer, but the movie does unfold in such a way it does feel like you're following
[00:48:38] the killer as the main character essentially.
[00:48:40] So are you rooting for him?
[00:48:41] No, not...
[00:48:42] I mean in a way, in the same way you're rooting for Michael Myers or Jason because
[00:48:46] you want to see him kill people.
[00:48:47] Okay, what?
[00:48:49] I don't know.
[00:48:50] No, no, no.
[00:48:51] I don't watch those movies.
[00:48:53] You don't go to Halloween or like Friday the 13th and want to see...
[00:48:56] Killer, Michael.
[00:48:57] Kill her.
[00:48:58] No, I want to watch the protagonist cleverly outwit the killer.
[00:49:02] No, no, I definitely want to see some good kills on a slasher movie.
[00:49:05] Get fucked.
[00:49:06] Some of them deserve it.
[00:49:07] That's fine.
[00:49:08] If the characters are having unprotected premarital sex, they need to be murdered
[00:49:13] for sure.
[00:49:14] But no, so it plays out very much like a Friday the 13th kind of movie, but there's
[00:49:22] some really creative kills.
[00:49:23] One in particular is fucking just gruesome and it keeps getting worse and you're like,
[00:49:28] oh my God, what is going on?
[00:49:31] I do think it kind of sputters out in the end.
[00:49:34] I get what it's going for and I appreciate the effort.
[00:49:38] It's a big swing, but it doesn't quite stick the landing.
[00:49:42] You'll understand what I'm talking about when you see it.
[00:49:44] If you're a more general horror moviegoer than the third act, you'll probably be
[00:49:48] like, what the fuck's going on?
[00:49:50] It's a very intentional decision what they're doing and I get it.
[00:49:55] I didn't necessarily love it.
[00:49:57] Is it a twist that it's an avatar and somebody's actually controlling him?
[00:50:02] No.
[00:50:03] And it's a computer program that you're watching live streaming?
[00:50:06] No, it's not a twist.
[00:50:07] It's just a decision of how the story unfolds.
[00:50:11] Is it a woman?
[00:50:13] I know you hate women in movies, Ben, but no, it's not a woman.
[00:50:17] Is she British?
[00:50:18] Oh, God.
[00:50:20] Hello, Ben.
[00:50:22] Hello, it's me the killer.
[00:50:23] I've been slashing people since Tuesday.
[00:50:27] Get out of here.
[00:50:27] Let me get a good look at you before I put this northings on you.
[00:50:33] I also watched another low key release called Hundreds of Beavers.
[00:50:38] Whoa.
[00:50:41] Only available at night.
[00:50:44] I got this one in the backroom of Family Video.
[00:50:45] You want to come back this way and watch Hundreds of Beavers?
[00:50:50] Ben has definitely seen this.
[00:50:51] I've seen Hundreds of Beavers.
[00:50:53] This is another name for my sticky wicket.
[00:50:58] Have you seen this, Ben?
[00:50:59] No, I don't know what this is.
[00:51:01] So this is a movie that it was touring around.
[00:51:04] To sequel to 99 Beaver.
[00:51:07] It was touring around the United States for a little bit,
[00:51:09] and now it's available on digital and VOD.
[00:51:13] And so it's actually basically a live action Looney Tunes movie,
[00:51:18] essentially.
[00:51:18] It follows this guy who loses his cider business.
[00:51:24] They'll release this, but we can't get an actual live action
[00:51:27] Looney Tunes movie?
[00:51:28] I know, right?
[00:51:29] No, but this is a low budget indie kind of thing
[00:51:31] to where it's very hokey special effects and animation.
[00:51:36] Yeah, on purpose.
[00:51:37] Is it good?
[00:51:38] Yes.
[00:51:39] It overstates its welcome a little bit
[00:51:41] because it's like an hour and 45 minutes
[00:51:43] and it should have been an hour and a half clean.
[00:51:45] But it's very, very funny.
[00:51:47] It's very slap sticky.
[00:51:48] It has an adult edge to it, so there's some blood stuff.
[00:51:51] You heard it here first.
[00:51:52] Brad Omen needs one hour of clean beaver.
[00:51:56] So this guy loses his cider business
[00:51:59] because some beavers fuck it up.
[00:52:03] But it's beavers in a beaver furry costume, basically.
[00:52:07] So there's no effort to make it real beavers or anything
[00:52:09] like that.
[00:52:11] So he's down on his luck.
[00:52:13] How many beavers are there?
[00:52:14] Hundreds.
[00:52:16] But then this is not a bit.
[00:52:18] Do they show hundreds for real?
[00:52:20] Yeah.
[00:52:20] And are they all kind of furry, like people dressed up as?
[00:52:22] No, so that's the thing is the way they did it
[00:52:24] is the VFX, I'm sure they only had a few.
[00:52:27] Two guys?
[00:52:27] No, seriously.
[00:52:28] I'm sure they only had a few beaver suits.
[00:52:30] But so they literally.
[00:52:31] The budget of this film is $150,000.
[00:52:33] No, so they literally used the effects
[00:52:35] to duplicate the same beaver suit over and over again.
[00:52:39] But there's tons of really funny Looney Tunes-esque
[00:52:43] sequences involving the beavers.
[00:52:45] He's also constantly trying to catch rabbits.
[00:52:46] And he's just terrible at it, and he keeps fucking up.
[00:52:50] But it's very, very funny.
[00:52:52] Where can people watch this if they want to watch this?
[00:52:54] It's available on VOD right now.
[00:52:56] You can pay to rent it online.
[00:52:57] People are comparing this to old school Charlie Chaplin
[00:53:00] type of slapsticky funny.
[00:53:04] This is a movie that has tapped in so well
[00:53:06] to old school classic comedy, like Three Stooges,
[00:53:09] Looney Tunes, Chaplin, Buster Keaton, all that stuff.
[00:53:13] It feels like it all mixed together.
[00:53:14] It really has that vibe to it.
[00:53:16] And this is just somebody that had this idea,
[00:53:19] and Kevin Smith did?
[00:53:20] Like they came up with the money and did it?
[00:53:22] Yeah.
[00:53:22] Yeah, this budget is $150,000,
[00:53:24] and they've made $400,000 on it.
[00:53:26] Oh, well, I'm going to watch this movie.
[00:53:27] Yeah, no, it's fun.
[00:53:28] Like I said, it overstates welcome,
[00:53:30] but it's just a lot of fun.
[00:53:31] So all you're going to do is go in and open up
[00:53:34] Incognito browser and type in hundreds of beavers.
[00:53:36] Yeah, don't do that at work.
[00:53:38] Or do.
[00:53:41] We like to live life on the edge.
[00:53:43] Anyway.
[00:53:44] I'll probably go see that The Watchers.
[00:53:50] Oh, yeah.
[00:53:50] The M. Night Shyamalan.
[00:53:51] Well, that's M. Night Shyamalan's daughter
[00:53:53] that directed that one.
[00:53:54] Whatever, it's all the same.
[00:53:55] And then there's another one.
[00:53:56] It's a new Shyamalan picture.
[00:53:57] There's another guy with Josh Hartnett.
[00:53:59] That's an actual M. Night Shyamalan.
[00:54:01] That's right.
[00:54:01] I'll see that too.
[00:54:02] Yeah, I will see that one.
[00:54:03] We talked about that on the podcast, Trap.
[00:54:05] Trap.
[00:54:06] And then I also re-watched Killers of the Flower Moon
[00:54:10] because I haven't seen it.
[00:54:11] Because you didn't know what to do with it
[00:54:12] for like seven hours of your life?
[00:54:14] My mom hadn't seen it, and I wanted her to see it.
[00:54:15] And she had to split it up over two days
[00:54:17] because she had to go to sleep.
[00:54:19] How long is it?
[00:54:20] It's six hours.
[00:54:20] It's three hours and 40 minutes.
[00:54:21] Oh my goodness.
[00:54:22] It's a Martin Scorsese movie.
[00:54:23] It's very good though.
[00:54:24] And feel free to split it up.
[00:54:25] I feel like I could read it faster than that.
[00:54:27] There is a book.
[00:54:28] It should have been a miniseries.
[00:54:29] I know.
[00:54:30] No, no, it shouldn't have.
[00:54:31] Because honestly the way it's paced
[00:54:32] is it's better as a movie.
[00:54:33] It was a miniseries.
[00:54:33] I'll go see that Kevin Costner double movie.
[00:54:37] Horizon.
[00:54:37] Oh, it's four movies, buddy.
[00:54:39] What?
[00:54:39] Yeah, it's going to be four movies.
[00:54:40] Never mind.
[00:54:42] No, we'll see if it gets to four movies.
[00:54:44] Hey, Brad.
[00:54:44] It will.
[00:54:45] They're already done.
[00:54:45] Oh, they're done?
[00:54:46] We'll see if it gets to four.
[00:54:48] No, they're already wrapped.
[00:54:49] It did not do well, right?
[00:54:50] It hasn't come out yet.
[00:54:51] It dipped shit.
[00:54:52] Oh my god.
[00:54:52] I thought it was reviewed.
[00:54:54] Yeah, it can.
[00:54:55] And it will.
[00:54:57] What does that mean, it can?
[00:54:59] No, at Cannes Film Festival.
[00:55:00] At Cannes.
[00:55:00] But he released it at Cannes?
[00:55:02] Yes, it got released at Cannes.
[00:55:04] Why are you making that face?
[00:55:05] It doesn't seem like a film that I'd want to release at Cannes.
[00:55:09] They played Shrek at Cannes.
[00:55:10] I know, but this seems like when you would want to release.
[00:55:12] They played hundreds of Beavers at Cannes.
[00:55:14] Like right before Trump's trial.
[00:55:18] It's not a MAGA movie.
[00:55:20] It's a Western.
[00:55:21] Jesus Christ.
[00:55:22] What is he doing?
[00:55:23] Come on.
[00:55:24] I'm not quite sure what Nate's talking about.
[00:55:25] I don't know what he's doing.
[00:55:26] But I like it.
[00:55:27] I feel like this is a film for Joe Rogan.
[00:55:30] I feel like this is a film for Joe Rogan fans.
[00:55:33] No, it's not.
[00:55:34] It looks like a-
[00:55:35] Kevin Costner has never made a Western for Joe Rogan
[00:55:38] fan.
[00:55:39] Yellowstone?
[00:55:39] Yellowstone?
[00:55:40] He doesn't make that.
[00:55:41] He stars in it.
[00:55:42] That's a Taylor Sheridan series.
[00:55:44] This is a Taylor Sheridan type of film.
[00:55:46] It's a Kevin Costner movie.
[00:55:48] It looks like Dancers with Wolves.
[00:55:50] Yes!
[00:55:51] It's not.
[00:55:52] Dancers with horses.
[00:55:54] This is what it is.
[00:55:55] There's a lot of kicking people.
[00:55:56] You know what I know it is not?
[00:55:57] It's not Killers of the Fire Moon.
[00:55:59] Well, that's the fucking truth.
[00:56:01] Killers of the Fire Moon's amazing.
[00:56:03] Full circle there, Nate.
[00:56:04] Way to go.
[00:56:05] What else did you watch, Brad?
[00:56:06] No, that's it actually.
[00:56:08] You want to talk about some trailers?
[00:56:09] No.
[00:56:10] OK.
[00:56:10] We need a trailer song.
[00:56:12] Yeah, Ben.
[00:56:14] Trailer time.
[00:56:15] Oh, old school.
[00:56:18] Throwing it back.
[00:56:18] It's a deep cut off of Ben's EP.
[00:56:21] Yeah.
[00:56:22] Hanging myself.
[00:56:23] It's the greatest hits.
[00:56:25] It's the greatest shit.
[00:56:26] Aw.
[00:56:27] Yeah.
[00:56:27] Come on, man.
[00:56:28] Dumps.
[00:56:29] Dumps?
[00:56:30] Dumps in my trunk.
[00:56:32] Trailer.
[00:56:33] There you go.
[00:56:33] There's your-
[00:56:34] Trailer's in my trunk.
[00:56:35] Trunk.
[00:56:35] Trunk.
[00:56:37] I got nothing there.
[00:56:38] Guys, like what?
[00:56:39] What?
[00:56:39] What?
[00:56:39] I watched the movie again.
[00:56:43] We watched the trailer for let's start with Moana 2
[00:56:46] because who cares?
[00:56:47] Moana 2, Electric Boogaloo.
[00:56:50] He did it.
[00:56:50] He did it.
[00:56:51] Electric Eel Boogaloo.
[00:56:52] Here's a movie no one asked for.
[00:56:54] Nice.
[00:56:54] Thank you.
[00:56:55] I love Moana though.
[00:56:56] I love Moana.
[00:56:57] Moana is fantastic.
[00:56:58] I actually think Moana is better than Frozen.
[00:57:00] I agree.
[00:57:01] But no one-
[00:57:02] Is that hot of a take?
[00:57:04] It's really hot take.
[00:57:06] Oh, awesome.
[00:57:07] I feel like Moana is far and away better than Frozen.
[00:57:09] I think it's fairly hot take.
[00:57:10] Some people probably wouldn't agree.
[00:57:11] I think just because Frozen is the more popular,
[00:57:15] because it's princesses and little girls
[00:57:17] love to dress up as Elsa.
[00:57:18] We've had Frozen weekend at the arcade
[00:57:20] because of the popularity of the characters.
[00:57:22] Kids are pissing themselves.
[00:57:23] They just love pissing themselves.
[00:57:25] I mean, Moana is the daughter of a chief,
[00:57:27] so she's technically a princess.
[00:57:29] I mean, right?
[00:57:30] She would be a chieftess.
[00:57:31] Yeah, chieftess.
[00:57:33] Is that a real word?
[00:57:34] I don't think so.
[00:57:35] You just made that up?
[00:57:36] He's educated.
[00:57:37] That's true.
[00:57:37] I educate also.
[00:57:38] Yeah, he's educated and he educates.
[00:57:40] Actually, that is a word.
[00:57:41] She's chieftess of-
[00:57:43] What you were saying?
[00:57:44] The title is Chieftess of Motunui.
[00:57:47] Motunui, yeah.
[00:57:48] But yeah, so the-
[00:57:49] Chieftess of Monotui.
[00:57:50] Monotui.
[00:57:51] Yep.
[00:57:52] Motunui.
[00:57:54] Monotui to you.
[00:57:56] No one was asking for Moana to-
[00:57:57] I don't think anybody is still asking for Moana to-
[00:58:00] even though apparently this teaser trailer recently
[00:58:02] broke a record for the most watched teaser trailer
[00:58:05] in Disney's history.
[00:58:06] So lots of people are asking for this film.
[00:58:08] I was going to say-
[00:58:08] Yeah.
[00:58:09] Just not us.
[00:58:10] Yeah, apparently.
[00:58:10] I don't know.
[00:58:11] Here's the thing.
[00:58:12] There's a chance it could turn out great.
[00:58:14] I'm skeptical because this was supposed
[00:58:16] to be an animated show on Disney Plus that they felt
[00:58:19] like they could turn into a movie.
[00:58:21] Some of that, I think, is because of the strikes
[00:58:23] and because they needed to rework it
[00:58:25] and release a new movie.
[00:58:27] So I'm concerned about that because when
[00:58:29] they announced the sequel was coming out,
[00:58:31] they didn't announce the voice cast.
[00:58:33] And I think it's because they were still finalizing
[00:58:34] the deals for the voice cast because they wouldn't have had
[00:58:37] the original voice for the animated series otherwise.
[00:58:40] They wouldn't have paid Dwayne Johnson and Alil Corvallo
[00:58:43] and anybody else to come back and do the voices.
[00:58:45] But since it's a big screen movie now,
[00:58:47] they did get them back.
[00:58:49] There's nothing in this trailer
[00:58:50] that gets me excited for it.
[00:58:51] Is it the same person doing the chicken's voice?
[00:58:53] Yeah.
[00:58:54] Alan Tudyk.
[00:58:55] It is Alan Tudyk.
[00:58:56] Of course it is.
[00:58:57] Yeah.
[00:58:58] He's at Disney.
[00:58:59] Good luck.
[00:58:59] Steve the Pirate.
[00:59:01] Oh, I know.
[00:59:01] I don't know if you know.
[00:59:02] K2SO in Rogue One.
[00:59:04] No one cares.
[00:59:04] I don't know what that is.
[00:59:05] Everyone loves K2SO in Rogue One.
[00:59:07] If you're talking to the general public, Steve the Pirate.
[00:59:10] People love K2SO.
[00:59:12] The number of people that know it's Steve the Pirate
[00:59:14] compared to K2SO is 10 to 1.
[00:59:16] Why do you say it like a Mexican immigrant?
[00:59:18] Because I don't know what you said in the first place.
[00:59:20] K2SO.
[00:59:21] What is that?
[00:59:21] That sounds delicious.
[00:59:22] It means what happened in Spanish.
[00:59:25] KSO?
[00:59:26] K2?
[00:59:27] Keitao.
[00:59:27] Keitao, you too.
[00:59:30] What do you guys think?
[00:59:30] Are you guys excited about Tuanas?
[00:59:32] Oh my god, no.
[00:59:33] I've got thoughts.
[00:59:34] The trailer's not good.
[00:59:36] I don't even know if it's a trailer.
[00:59:37] Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
[00:59:38] It's a teaser.
[00:59:39] It's not great.
[00:59:40] Also, one of the things I loved most about Moana
[00:59:43] was the soundtrack.
[00:59:43] I think it's a fantastic soundtrack.
[00:59:45] The songs are catchy.
[00:59:47] It captures Disney cartoons really well.
[00:59:52] Disney cartoons of the 90s that all had great soundtracks.
[00:59:54] You knew all the songs.
[00:59:56] Frozen does the same thing.
[00:59:57] Frozen 2 did not.
[00:59:58] Frozen 2's soundtrack was great.
[01:00:00] I disagree.
[01:00:02] It's empirical.
[01:00:03] Frozen 2 soundtrack isn't great.
[01:00:04] No, no.
[01:00:05] The Frozen 2 soundtrack, I think, has more bangers
[01:00:08] per mileage.
[01:00:09] Not even close to being true.
[01:00:11] Bangers.
[01:00:12] Not even close to being true.
[01:00:12] It is.
[01:00:13] No, come on now.
[01:00:14] Frozen 2 and I'm here with you.
[01:00:16] I'm here in the igloo.
[01:00:19] Frozen 2 and I'm here with friends.
[01:00:21] Sometimes we have a dark on my face.
[01:00:23] That's better than most songs in Frozen 2.
[01:00:25] That's not even true.
[01:00:26] The songs in Frozen 2, for the most part,
[01:00:28] I think are better than Frozen 1.
[01:00:30] Which just really takes your credibility down.
[01:00:32] No, it's true.
[01:00:34] Name four.
[01:00:35] What?
[01:00:36] I don't know the title.
[01:00:37] I couldn't tell you the titles of the Frozen songs
[01:00:39] beyond Let It Go.
[01:00:40] So let it snow.
[01:00:43] What's the?
[01:00:44] It's not.
[01:00:46] What's the one with the snowman?
[01:00:47] Yeah, see?
[01:00:48] That's fucked up.
[01:00:48] Do you want to build a snowman?
[01:00:49] Yeah, do you want to build a snowman?
[01:00:50] No.
[01:00:51] Cool.
[01:00:51] No, I don't.
[01:00:53] No.
[01:00:53] That's it, right?
[01:00:55] So in the first film, Moana, Lin-Manuel Miranda,
[01:00:58] great songwriter, does all the music.
[01:01:01] He's not doing it in this film.
[01:01:02] No, but also I don't care because I've
[01:01:04] had Lin-Manuel Miranda exposure.
[01:01:06] OK, that's fine.
[01:01:07] He did what?
[01:01:09] He's an incredible songwriter.
[01:01:11] Sure, but also he doesn't have to do it all the time.
[01:01:13] It's like, hey, I don't need Aquafina in every animated
[01:01:15] movie either.
[01:01:16] But he does do it all the time.
[01:01:17] He has been for a while.
[01:01:19] Give me five Disney cartoons that he's done in the film.
[01:01:23] Give me five Disney cartoons.
[01:01:24] He can't just keep asking for things.
[01:01:26] Well, because you said he does it all the time.
[01:01:28] What is he doing all the time?
[01:01:29] Not just Disney.
[01:01:30] He's done the soundtracks for a lot of movies.
[01:01:31] He did Hamilton.
[01:01:33] Have you heard of Hamilton?
[01:01:34] In the Hamiltons.
[01:01:36] Hamilton, too.
[01:01:38] That was definitely in the Hamiltonian.
[01:01:41] He did In the Hamptons with Colin Jost.
[01:01:42] Hamilton, the prequel.
[01:01:44] Hamilton, the prequel.
[01:01:45] That was good.
[01:01:45] No, no.
[01:01:46] I do want to look up the other movies
[01:01:47] because he has been doing it a lot,
[01:01:49] and to the point where people just kind of roll
[01:01:51] their eyes whenever he.
[01:01:51] No, but I think he's become a little bit like.
[01:01:54] Overexposed.
[01:01:55] No, Twitter's just idiots.
[01:01:57] This isn't just Twitter.
[01:01:58] No, this is what you do though, Brad.
[01:01:59] You buy into the Twitter hype.
[01:02:01] You buy into the Twitter hype.
[01:02:03] And whatever Twitter says, you go along with it.
[01:02:05] And Kanto, Vivo.
[01:02:07] And Kanto's great.
[01:02:07] The Little Mermaid.
[01:02:08] Wait, did you not like and Kanto?
[01:02:09] No, no.
[01:02:10] I like and Kanto.
[01:02:11] The music's great, don't you think?
[01:02:12] For the most part.
[01:02:14] And Kanto's great, and the music's fantastic.
[01:02:16] The Little Mermaid.
[01:02:18] The Little Mermaid wasn't great.
[01:02:19] Let's see.
[01:02:20] There we go.
[01:02:21] Rest my case.
[01:02:24] Tic Tac Boom was fantastic.
[01:02:26] It was really good.
[01:02:26] He didn't do the music for that though.
[01:02:28] I know, but he directed it.
[01:02:30] He didn't do the music though.
[01:02:31] I know, but I'm just saying he directed that.
[01:02:32] So why not give him some credit for that?
[01:02:35] Vivo is actually the music.
[01:02:36] Vivo's really good.
[01:02:38] Did he do the same kind of cadence style music?
[01:02:39] Is that what you're getting sick of?
[01:02:41] Yeah, honestly, he does whenever he.
[01:02:43] He doesn't like hip hop.
[01:02:44] It's like the sing rapping.
[01:02:46] I don't like the rap music.
[01:02:48] No, no, he.
[01:02:49] He's under the see me be he.
[01:02:51] Yeah.
[01:02:52] That kind of stuff?
[01:02:53] That kind of stuff is getting old.
[01:02:55] If you're going to do a musical, fucking do a musical, man.
[01:02:57] I think that's what he's doing right now.
[01:02:58] That's why he's not doing anything in film right now,
[01:03:00] is he's working on his next musical.
[01:03:03] What is it?
[01:03:05] Yeah, I can't remember.
[01:03:06] 8 Mile?
[01:03:07] No, it's something.
[01:03:11] I looked it up the other day.
[01:03:13] Ribbida, ribbida, rap-tastic.
[01:03:14] He's working on it, but it's going to be a big deal,
[01:03:16] I'm sure, when it comes out.
[01:03:18] Cool.
[01:03:19] All right, so more like to.
[01:03:20] What has Lin-Manuel Miranda done to you?
[01:03:24] What has he done to you?
[01:03:25] Why do you not like him, other than Twitter doesn't like him?
[01:03:28] I don't dislike him.
[01:03:29] I'm just sick of how often he's doing music in movies
[01:03:32] these days.
[01:03:33] Like there's other composers out there.
[01:03:35] There's other songwriters out there.
[01:03:36] Name five.
[01:03:37] Who would you pick for good songwriters?
[01:03:39] For good songwriters?
[01:03:41] Steven Sondheim.
[01:03:44] But there's not a ton of great songwriters.
[01:03:46] No, because they don't give them a chance.
[01:03:47] Because Lin-Manuel Miranda is taking their job.
[01:03:49] No, they do.
[01:03:49] Like Frozen 2 songwriters suck.
[01:03:52] Frozen 2 songwriters are the same songwriters for Frozen 1.
[01:03:54] Yeah, and they suck.
[01:03:55] They just suck.
[01:03:56] They don't.
[01:03:57] It's terrible.
[01:03:58] The songs in Frozen 2 are very good.
[01:04:00] Awful, awful, awful.
[01:04:02] You know what, Nate?
[01:04:03] Fixer Upper in the first Frozen
[01:04:05] is one of the worst fucking Disney songs ever.
[01:04:07] It brings the entire Frozen soundtrack down
[01:04:10] like four letter grades.
[01:04:11] It's fucking trash.
[01:04:13] So wait a minute.
[01:04:14] Does this mean the whole time you have known
[01:04:15] the titles of the songs?
[01:04:17] And you just went home?
[01:04:18] No, no, no.
[01:04:19] You pulled that one out immediately.
[01:04:21] That's the first real Frozen 2.
[01:04:23] I don't know the song titles.
[01:04:25] Frozen 1, I know Fixer Upper because it's a shitty song.
[01:04:28] It's not that bad.
[01:04:29] Which part is that?
[01:04:30] It's the one where the fucking stone trolls sing about.
[01:04:33] Yeah, thank you, Luke.
[01:04:34] That's Luke, a general audience member saying,
[01:04:36] oh god, to a shit song in the first Frozen.
[01:04:39] What about what an incredibly crappy song is
[01:04:42] Into the Unknown?
[01:04:43] What a terrible song.
[01:04:44] Into the Unknown is a banger!
[01:04:46] What's that from?
[01:04:46] That's the main song in Frozen 2!
[01:04:49] It's just terrible.
[01:04:50] It's just terrible.
[01:04:50] You're a fucking jagaloon.
[01:04:52] Nope, it's a terrible song.
[01:04:53] You are drunk on your own supply.
[01:04:55] What does that even mean?
[01:04:57] I don't know.
[01:04:58] Nate's like, oh, I know so much about music
[01:05:00] because I praise the Lord every Sunday.
[01:05:03] That's exactly what I was saying.
[01:05:05] Go sing your hymns.
[01:05:06] Oh, in Frozen it's called Hers.
[01:05:09] He did it.
[01:05:09] Do you know what Let It Go did?
[01:05:11] It won all the awards.
[01:05:12] It did.
[01:05:12] Let It Go is a fantastic, incredible song.
[01:05:14] You know what Into the Unknown did?
[01:05:15] Didn't win any awards.
[01:05:16] Hey, you know what did win awards though?
[01:05:17] The Beach Boys.
[01:05:20] Back to where we were, correct?
[01:05:23] So anyway, you guys going to see Moana 2?
[01:05:26] Yes.
[01:05:26] Yeah, probably.
[01:05:27] Yeah, probably.
[01:05:29] We also watched a trailer for Wolves,
[01:05:31] a movie that looks a lot better than Moana 2.
[01:05:34] Wolves.
[01:05:34] Yes.
[01:05:35] And normally I'd say you can't really compare them,
[01:05:36] but yeah, I'm going to let you.
[01:05:38] So this is a new movie starring
[01:05:39] Brad Pitt and George Clooney,
[01:05:41] and it's not an Ocean's movie.
[01:05:43] And if you've seen Pulp Fiction,
[01:05:46] then you'll know that The Wolf was played
[01:05:49] by Harvey Keitel, and he's a fixer.
[01:05:52] And so the name.
[01:05:54] Not a fixer upper.
[01:05:55] Nope.
[01:05:56] The wolf caricature in movies is the person that comes in
[01:06:00] and fixes a situation after like a dead body happens.
[01:06:04] And so.
[01:06:05] I like that Ben's not assigning blame
[01:06:07] after a dead body happens.
[01:06:09] You're right for the name.
[01:06:10] Sometimes you need a fixer.
[01:06:11] If you've seen it.
[01:06:13] That's not a good job, Luke.
[01:06:15] Fuck you.
[01:06:17] So Brad Pitt and George Clooney both play
[01:06:21] the titular wolf characters.
[01:06:23] So there's two of them.
[01:06:24] So wolves instead of wolves,
[01:06:26] because they're not a team.
[01:06:27] They're not partners.
[01:06:27] And they'll let you know it twice,
[01:06:29] maybe three times in the trailer.
[01:06:31] But it's very this is very charming, very smooth.
[01:06:33] You know, it's Clooney and Pitt, of course.
[01:06:36] It looks it looks like a great
[01:06:38] not only a buddy comedy,
[01:06:39] but like a dark comedy with some good character actors.
[01:06:43] Yeah, it seems like Brad Pitt and George Clooney
[01:06:45] have the same kind of
[01:06:46] because they don't really have like a rivalry
[01:06:47] in Ocean Eleven, but they have a playful friendship
[01:06:49] where they kind of bust each other's chops.
[01:06:50] And this one, their characters
[01:06:52] really don't like working together,
[01:06:54] don't like each other and they're forced to like.
[01:06:56] Hey Brad, on the count of three say,
[01:06:57] we're not partners.
[01:06:58] One, two, three.
[01:06:59] We're not partners.
[01:07:00] That was a fun line.
[01:07:03] But so this is written and directed by John Watts
[01:07:06] of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy fame.
[01:07:09] So a nice change of pace for him, I think.
[01:07:12] John Watts knows how to do comedy very well.
[01:07:14] And he knows how to do action pretty well.
[01:07:15] Will you see this movie, Luke?
[01:07:17] Yeah, I'll see this one.
[01:07:18] Nate, will you see this movie?
[01:07:19] Yes, but I've got some limitations.
[01:07:24] You're gonna turn into Brad with all your nitpicks now.
[01:07:27] I wanna say a few things.
[01:07:30] I've got some complicated feelings about Brad Pitt lately.
[01:07:33] Oh, that's 100% true.
[01:07:35] That's why.
[01:07:35] And so he's an asshole.
[01:07:37] Yeah, and so it's kind of like one of those things
[01:07:40] where I see Brad Pitt now I'm like.
[01:07:41] Yeah, I agree.
[01:07:42] Don't know if I'm gonna support that guy.
[01:07:43] So Luke, if you don't know,
[01:07:45] and for those who may not know,
[01:07:46] there are a lot of stories out there,
[01:07:48] mostly in the tabloids.
[01:07:49] Whatever happened on that plane was not good.
[01:07:50] But there does seem to be some creeds about it
[01:07:52] that Brad Pitt is maybe not a very good dad
[01:07:54] and he's kind of a bit of an asshole to his family.
[01:07:56] That's why.
[01:07:57] That's putting it lightly.
[01:07:57] I think that there's allegations
[01:07:59] that he put his hands on his kids while drunk.
[01:08:01] At one point apparently he dumped a beer
[01:08:03] on one of his kids out of just like anger.
[01:08:05] Yeah, no, I don't like that.
[01:08:06] Apparently they're.
[01:08:08] We have to say allegedly
[01:08:09] because we don't wanna get sued by Brad Pitt.
[01:08:11] Because he listens.
[01:08:12] He's a listener.
[01:08:13] But with their divorce,
[01:08:15] some of this stuff comes out.
[01:08:17] And also apparently there was a scene
[01:08:19] where they were all on a plane, a private plane,
[01:08:22] and that's when things really blew up
[01:08:24] between him and Angelina Jolie.
[01:08:26] And it was after that the kids,
[01:08:28] whatever they saw on that plane with their dad,
[01:08:30] they said I want nothing to do with him.
[01:08:33] That we're gonna side with mom on everything.
[01:08:34] And everything.
[01:08:35] So like Shiloh, his daughter with Angelina Jolie,
[01:08:38] is now changing her name
[01:08:40] just like Angelina Jolie did with John Voight, right?
[01:08:43] Who she can't stand.
[01:08:44] Yeah, Shiloh.
[01:08:45] She was married to John Voight.
[01:08:46] No.
[01:08:47] John Voight is her father.
[01:08:48] Oh, I didn't know that.
[01:08:49] That is hilarious.
[01:08:53] But yeah, Shiloh just recently turned 18
[01:08:57] and yeah, she wants to drop his name from her.
[01:08:58] She wants nothing to do with Brad Pitt.
[01:08:59] So it's weird, right?
[01:09:01] Because I don't assume that a lot of people
[01:09:03] in Hollywood are great people, right?
[01:09:05] I know that there's a lot of really narcissistic,
[01:09:07] terrible people in Hollywood.
[01:09:09] So if I made it a call to not see any film
[01:09:12] that had a terrible person in it,
[01:09:13] I wouldn't see a lot of films.
[01:09:15] But the Brad Pitt thing as a dad just drives me crazy.
[01:09:18] And so I'm gonna see this film.
[01:09:20] Cause if you're gonna dump alcohol on your kid,
[01:09:21] like at least do hard liquor.
[01:09:23] I'm gonna see this film and I'm gonna love Brad Pitt
[01:09:25] cause I love Brad Pitt.
[01:09:26] But like I love his performances.
[01:09:28] But like it does temper it.
[01:09:30] Does it not temper it a little bit for you
[01:09:31] when you see him in film style?
[01:09:32] But have we thought about blaming Angelina Jolie
[01:09:34] and what responsibility she really has in this
[01:09:37] as the wife and mother?
[01:09:39] Have we thought about that?
[01:09:40] No?
[01:09:41] Well, thanks so much for listening.
[01:09:42] This is the last episode of the Joe Rogan podcast.
[01:09:46] It's the Joe Rogan experience.
[01:09:48] Oh, it's an experience already.
[01:09:51] Next week's guest, Harrison Butker.
[01:09:55] Fresh off a challenging commencement speech.
[01:09:58] I understood that reference.
[01:09:59] Nice.
[01:10:00] Yeah, no, I mean, to your point, Nate,
[01:10:03] it is hard when you know there's a piece,
[01:10:05] like I'm not gonna,
[01:10:06] if Jonathan Majors had a new movie coming out
[01:10:08] that he had already shot, I wouldn't watch it, right?
[01:10:10] Cause we know that guy's a piece of shit.
[01:10:11] Or Kevin Spacey.
[01:10:12] But hold on cause there is a movie
[01:10:14] that Jonathan Majors was in
[01:10:15] that hasn't been released yet
[01:10:17] and you should see it cause he's very good in it.
[01:10:19] Wow!
[01:10:21] Now I gotta see it, what is it?
[01:10:22] No, no, no.
[01:10:23] Directed by Woody Allen.
[01:10:24] No, no, it is.
[01:10:25] With Kevin Spacey.
[01:10:26] No, no, it is true because it came out at Sundance
[01:10:29] before the allegations came out.
[01:10:30] So I have seen it already.
[01:10:31] What is it?
[01:10:32] It's called Magazine Dreams.
[01:10:33] But releasing it now would be...
[01:10:36] They're never going to?
[01:10:37] No, there's no way because of what he's been sued for
[01:10:41] and what the loss is.
[01:10:42] What is that, his performance?
[01:10:43] He basically is playing a bodybuilder in cell
[01:10:46] and he's a fucking psychopath.
[01:10:48] So yeah, so you released that movie,
[01:10:50] no one's gonna wanna see that movie.
[01:10:51] So he's playing himself.
[01:10:52] Pretty much, yeah.
[01:10:53] Okay, cool.
[01:10:54] Yeah, after seeing Magazine Dreams
[01:10:56] and then when that came out I was like,
[01:10:57] well, yeah, I guess that makes sense.
[01:11:01] Tough.
[01:11:01] But yeah.
[01:11:03] I struggle with hearing news.
[01:11:05] Tom Cruise?
[01:11:06] Yeah, hearing news about actors
[01:11:08] that I think do harmful things.
[01:11:09] Tom Cruise and what he says about psychology,
[01:11:11] these kind of things.
[01:11:13] I have a hard time enjoying films
[01:11:15] with people that I know just aren't,
[01:11:17] I don't align with in a lot of ways.
[01:11:19] I trust Zinu though, so.
[01:11:20] I know.
[01:11:21] How is that working for you?
[01:11:22] I mean, I feel great.
[01:11:24] Good.
[01:11:25] My Theatons are off the charts.
[01:11:26] You look great.
[01:11:27] Yeah, well that's because I have all new Theatons.
[01:11:29] Okay, that makes sense.
[01:11:33] Thank you, Tom.
[01:11:35] But as an aside, this film looks fantastic.
[01:11:39] It does.
[01:11:40] So Brad Pitt, whatever you're doing is worth it.
[01:11:42] Keep it up, buddy.
[01:11:42] Dang you, Brad Pitt.
[01:11:45] Oh my goodness.
[01:11:46] But yeah.
[01:11:47] If he gets on a private plane in the pilot
[01:11:48] so you think they just talked to you,
[01:11:49] you're like oh boy.
[01:11:51] Hide the beer.
[01:11:52] And then Pickett's like, don't worry,
[01:11:55] I brought my own.
[01:11:57] George Clooney and Brad Pitt
[01:11:58] have such great chemistry. Kids!
[01:11:59] Get on the plane.
[01:12:01] Fun, Brad Pitt.
[01:12:03] No, that's the problem is it's so easy to watch them.
[01:12:06] And so yeah, when people like Tom Cruise are in a movie,
[01:12:10] like Maverick 2 or Tom Clinton 2, Maverick,
[01:12:15] it's so fun to watch that.
[01:12:17] And then you forget a little bit about
[01:12:19] how bad of a person they are.
[01:12:21] Bad peoples.
[01:12:22] They're bad peoples.
[01:12:23] I'm not even drinking.
[01:12:25] Yet.
[01:12:26] Not yet.
[01:12:26] Nah, he's been drinking.
[01:12:27] No, I haven't had a sip of this.
[01:12:29] Really?
[01:12:30] You've just been holding it?
[01:12:30] I don't know why.
[01:12:31] I'm like your dad at Pizza Hut.
[01:12:34] It's been 45 minutes and I have had this drink
[01:12:36] in my hand the entire time and I have not taken a sip.
[01:12:38] And the funny thing is it's probably not any warmer
[01:12:41] than it was when you poured it.
[01:12:43] I like warm drinks.
[01:12:44] Have I ever told you that Brad likes warm milk?
[01:12:47] I don't know.
[01:12:48] I literally do not like warm milk.
[01:12:50] No, no, no, no.
[01:12:51] Yuck.
[01:12:53] There's only a few things in this world
[01:12:54] that I have to hang around.
[01:12:56] Hot milk?
[01:12:57] You like cottage cheese.
[01:12:59] I love cottage cheese.
[01:13:00] Yeah, but cottage cheese is cold and chunky.
[01:13:02] Yeah, the warm milk is automatically chunky either.
[01:13:04] It's on its way.
[01:13:05] It's on its way.
[01:13:07] Like we're talking about like warm milk
[01:13:09] like in a cup that's been sitting out all day.
[01:13:11] So it's not even like warmed up.
[01:13:13] It's just like room temperature.
[01:13:14] Yeah, it's like having-
[01:13:16] I feel like room temperature milk
[01:13:17] would be worse than hot milk.
[01:13:18] It's like having warm lotion in your mouth.
[01:13:20] It's like slightly sour, not real sour.
[01:13:22] Just like-
[01:13:24] It's starting to get chunky.
[01:13:26] You ever had hot pudding?
[01:13:31] We've got to-
[01:13:33] Ben can't breathe.
[01:13:35] That's disgusting.
[01:13:36] Ben, don't you have a game?
[01:13:40] I do.
[01:13:41] Let's just focus on that.
[01:13:43] Oh my god.
[01:13:44] I'm gonna warm up some milk after this.
[01:13:45] I don't want to talk about that.
[01:13:46] All you gotta do is toss in the microwave
[01:13:47] for 30 seconds and it is top-notch milk.
[01:13:50] No, see that doesn't bother me.
[01:13:51] It's the whole sitting out and like turning it.
[01:13:53] Well, it's slightly warm.
[01:13:54] It's not like warm warm, but it's slightly warm.
[01:13:56] It's not like curdled or sour.
[01:13:58] It's just almost.
[01:13:59] Yeah, it's just warm.
[01:14:00] I've been sitting out for like an hour.
[01:14:01] I wrote a movie game.
[01:14:06] You know how when you have a candy bar in your hand
[01:14:08] and it just gets warm in your hand?
[01:14:09] Yeah, yeah.
[01:14:10] This game is called Furiosa.
[01:14:12] Furiosa.
[01:14:15] Furiosa.
[01:14:18] Furiosa.
[01:14:20] Oh, I can't.
[01:14:21] I'm literally swallowing.
[01:14:23] Drink on your drink, ugly.
[01:14:24] Hold on, hold on.
[01:14:26] Slurp.
[01:14:31] Drink some of your drink.
[01:14:33] Papa loves his sauce.
[01:14:34] He's still going.
[01:14:39] Okay.
[01:14:40] And we're back.
[01:14:42] This game is called Furiosa,
[01:14:45] revenge films starring A-list actresses.
[01:14:48] I'll give you the year it came out,
[01:14:51] the Rotten Tomatoes score,
[01:14:53] and then hopefully third build and second build
[01:14:57] actor or actress.
[01:14:58] And then of course,
[01:14:59] you just gotta give me the lead actress.
[01:15:01] I'm gonna need a...
[01:15:02] You know what?
[01:15:03] We normally do the buzz in thing,
[01:15:04] but then Brad wins.
[01:15:05] So we're just gonna go to each person individually.
[01:15:07] We're gonna start with Nate
[01:15:08] and then go to Brad. Oh, sorry.
[01:15:09] Don't let, don't, we don't like when Brad wins.
[01:15:10] God forbid Brad wins.
[01:15:12] Yeah, tell me about it.
[01:15:13] All right, everybody make a buzzing sound.
[01:15:15] Get ready to be destroyed.
[01:15:19] Gobbley goop.
[01:15:20] One more time.
[01:15:21] Gobbley goop.
[01:15:22] Bzz, bzz, bzz, bzz.
[01:15:25] All right, here we go.
[01:15:28] What's the game?
[01:15:29] Bzz.
[01:15:31] Furiousay.
[01:15:32] Furiousay.
[01:15:34] Revenge films starring A-list actresses.
[01:15:36] Okay.
[01:15:37] All right?
[01:15:38] I'll give you the year and the Rotten Tomatoes.
[01:15:40] This film was...
[01:15:41] Hey, hey, I don't think we're gonna win.
[01:15:42] Oh, I got this, I got this.
[01:15:43] This film came out in 2020.
[01:15:45] Yeah.
[01:15:46] 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
[01:15:48] Yeah.
[01:15:49] Uh-huh, yeah, yeah.
[01:15:49] Alison Brie.
[01:15:51] Yeah, it's a good one.
[01:15:52] Bo Burnham.
[01:15:53] Like them.
[01:15:54] Don't know who that is.
[01:15:55] Yep, it's a comedian.
[01:15:55] He sings piano songs.
[01:15:56] Yep, correct.
[01:15:58] Who is the actress?
[01:15:59] That's all you're giving us?
[01:16:01] Give us...
[01:16:01] Directed by Emerald Fennell.
[01:16:03] That doesn't have to be.
[01:16:04] Legasse, not Legasse.
[01:16:07] Promising young woman.
[01:16:08] It is promising young woman.
[01:16:08] Oh!
[01:16:09] Good job, buddy.
[01:16:10] Yeah, but you didn't say who the lead character is.
[01:16:13] Not the lead character.
[01:16:14] The lead actress?
[01:16:15] Yeah.
[01:16:16] What's her face?
[01:16:17] It's Kareem Hulligan.
[01:16:18] Oh, sorry, I mean, I guess that is the game.
[01:16:19] It's who?
[01:16:20] No.
[01:16:21] Kareem Hulligan.
[01:16:21] Who is that?
[01:16:22] She's a British actress?
[01:16:23] She's married to Mumford.
[01:16:25] Martha Mumford.
[01:16:26] That is true.
[01:16:27] From Mumford and Sons?
[01:16:28] Yeah, but what else has she been in?
[01:16:29] Other movies.
[01:16:30] She's in Drive, she's in Education.
[01:16:33] That's not an A-list actress.
[01:16:35] We're talking Charlize Theron.
[01:16:36] Kareem Hulligan is an A-list actress.
[01:16:38] She's been Oscar nominated.
[01:16:39] She's a big deal.
[01:16:40] She's soaking.
[01:16:41] See?
[01:16:42] I love Kareem Hulligan.
[01:16:43] Has she been in any movies
[01:16:44] that Lin-Manuel Miranda made music for?
[01:16:47] No, she's made good decisions.
[01:16:50] Like Twitter thinks it and Brad Parrott thinks it.
[01:16:52] Twitter thinks it and Brad Parrott thinks it every time.
[01:16:55] Twitter thinks it.
[01:16:55] Oh, that's why it's called a retweet.
[01:16:57] Hey!
[01:16:58] All right.
[01:16:59] Guys, it's called X.
[01:17:00] Is it repost now?
[01:17:03] It's reposted.
[01:17:03] It's re-X'd.
[01:17:06] Okay, number two, I'm ready.
[01:17:08] Movie came out.
[01:17:08] Since I did so good with that first one.
[01:17:10] 2003.
[01:17:11] Oh, okay.
[01:17:12] Rotten Tomatoes scores 85%.
[01:17:16] Oh, almost there, almost there.
[01:17:17] Let's go.
[01:17:18] The second, third-build actor-actress, David Carradine.
[01:17:24] Okay, yep, yep.
[01:17:26] What's the movie and the actress, Brad?
[01:17:30] Kill Bill Volume Two, Uma Thurman.
[01:17:34] So this says, well now this says that
[01:17:37] this 2003 was Kill Bill Volume One.
[01:17:39] So he missed it.
[01:17:40] That's what I was gonna say, Kill Bill Volume One.
[01:17:41] Why did you give the answer?
[01:17:42] Why didn't you give us
[01:17:43] kill Bill Volume One?
[01:17:45] And Nate gets the point. Uma Thurman.
[01:17:46] Uma Thurman.
[01:17:47] Nate gets the point.
[01:17:48] And now you both get a point.
[01:17:49] I'm gonna share with Luke.
[01:17:50] Yeah, two points.
[01:17:51] Okay, good job.
[01:17:51] Gosh.
[01:17:52] Way to go.
[01:17:53] We're beating Brad.
[01:17:54] The movie came out in 1976.
[01:17:56] Okay, yep.
[01:17:57] 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
[01:18:00] Almost there, yep.
[01:18:01] Keep giving a couple more hints.
[01:18:03] Piper Laurie.
[01:18:04] Yes.
[01:18:05] John Travolta.
[01:18:06] Okay.
[01:18:11] What do you, Luke, I'm gonna pretend
[01:18:13] that that's the same buzzer that you had before.
[01:18:15] Kirsty Alley.
[01:18:17] Look who's talking to.
[01:18:18] Not a revenge film, but very close.
[01:18:21] But I wish it was.
[01:18:22] Now I wanna see that film.
[01:18:24] Bzz, bzz, bzz.
[01:18:25] Kirsty Alley.
[01:18:26] Look who's talking now.
[01:18:28] In that movie, in a world where babies can talk,
[01:18:34] what do they have to say when there's a murder?
[01:18:38] Brad?
[01:18:39] The movie is Carrie and the actress is Sissy Spacek.
[01:18:43] Correct on both accounts.
[01:18:43] Dang it.
[01:18:44] That was so close.
[01:18:45] Oh, you were almost there.
[01:18:46] Oh man, same concept.
[01:18:48] This movie.
[01:18:49] Carrie Mulligan was talked about in The Answer before
[01:18:52] and that threw you off.
[01:18:53] In 2014.
[01:18:54] Okay, yep.
[01:18:55] Rotten Tomatoes score 87%.
[01:18:57] Okay.
[01:18:59] Almost there.
[01:19:00] Carrie Coon.
[01:19:01] Oh yeah, yep.
[01:19:02] Ben Affleck.
[01:19:03] Ha ha.
[01:19:05] Brad?
[01:19:06] The movie is Gone Girl
[01:19:08] and the actress is Rosamund Pike.
[01:19:11] Correct.
[01:19:12] That's what I'm gonna say.
[01:19:13] Ha ha ha.
[01:19:17] I've seen it.
[01:19:18] But you don't believe Rosamund Pike's an actress.
[01:19:21] I know that the person in the movie was an actress
[01:19:23] but I had no idea that was her name.
[01:19:25] Good job, Luke.
[01:19:25] 2021.
[01:19:27] Not an A-lister though.
[01:19:28] Agreed.
[01:19:29] I would contend that that might be true.
[01:19:31] Yeah, that's fair.
[01:19:33] What else has she been in?
[01:19:33] She was in The World's End.
[01:19:35] She was in...
[01:19:36] Twilight.
[01:19:37] She was in Twilight?
[01:19:38] She was not in Twilight.
[01:19:38] Who's that?
[01:19:39] She's in Twilight!
[01:19:40] Rosamund Pike's in Twilight!
[01:19:42] I've seen those movies numerous times.
[01:19:43] She's A-list?
[01:19:44] That's A-list?
[01:19:46] These actors are just on a list.
[01:19:48] Okay.
[01:19:49] Ah, that makes sense.
[01:19:49] He misread it.
[01:19:50] You read it wrong.
[01:19:51] My bad.
[01:19:52] 2021 movie.
[01:19:54] Okay.
[01:19:55] 46% on the RT score.
[01:19:58] Little rough.
[01:20:02] The actors listed up to the lead.
[01:20:07] I don't know how to say that name.
[01:20:09] Well, this is helpful.
[01:20:12] So I'm gonna say,
[01:20:12] I'm just gonna sound it out.
[01:20:14] Tadanobu Asano.
[01:20:16] Okay, yep.
[01:20:17] Tadanobu Asano.
[01:20:19] Miko Martindou.
[01:20:24] Okay, good choices.
[01:20:25] And the second build, Woody Harrelson.
[01:20:30] White Man Can't Jump.
[01:20:32] He said 2021.
[01:20:34] That's when the second one came out.
[01:20:35] It came out last year.
[01:20:37] White Man Can't Jump 2.
[01:20:39] Parasite.
[01:20:41] Okay.
[01:20:43] You guys remember Woody Harrelson, Parasite, right?
[01:20:48] Woody Harrelson was my favorite part of Parasite.
[01:20:52] Beyond Yang.
[01:20:53] After Yang?
[01:20:54] Nope.
[01:20:55] Beyond Yang is the sequel.
[01:20:57] That is the revenge film.
[01:20:58] Brad, you gotta take a guess here.
[01:21:02] Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
[01:21:05] Oh, can you at least do the first name again?
[01:21:08] Catherine?
[01:21:09] Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
[01:21:11] Oh no, it's Gunpowder Milkshake.
[01:21:12] No, that's the one with What's Her Face
[01:21:14] from Guardians of the Galaxy.
[01:21:15] What's it called?
[01:21:16] It's a name.
[01:21:17] Karen Gillian.
[01:21:18] Karen Gillian is in Gunpowder Milkshake.
[01:21:20] But that's not this movie.
[01:21:22] Point me.
[01:21:23] Luke, you get a point.
[01:21:24] Yep.
[01:21:25] I forget what the name of this movie is.
[01:21:26] It's called Kate.
[01:21:27] Kate.
[01:21:28] Kate, yes.
[01:21:29] See, I just went with the formula in Catherine.
[01:21:33] Who's the lead in that?
[01:21:34] Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
[01:21:36] Who's married to
[01:21:39] Ewan McGregor.
[01:21:39] Obi Wan.
[01:21:41] A-List for sure.
[01:21:42] Sure.
[01:21:43] He is.
[01:21:44] Obi Wan.
[01:21:45] He is A-List.
[01:21:46] Obi Wan.
[01:21:47] Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
[01:21:50] Oh my God.
[01:21:51] All right.
[01:21:52] This movie came out in
[01:21:53] It's a Star Wars movie.
[01:21:54] That's Jar Jar Binks.
[01:21:55] No, no, that's actually from Fifth Element.
[01:21:57] They named another character Obi Wan.
[01:21:58] Hey, hey, Brett.
[01:22:00] Is that a Star Wars?
[01:22:02] 1995.
[01:22:05] That was just my impression of Luke.
[01:22:06] Hey, Brett.
[01:22:07] Is that a Star Wars?
[01:22:08] Let me crunch some ice.
[01:22:10] Who crunched?
[01:22:11] Hey, I still.
[01:22:12] 55% on Rotten Tomatoes.
[01:22:14] 1995.
[01:22:15] Okay.
[01:22:16] Predator.
[01:22:17] Predator got me to you.
[01:22:18] Just shut the fuck up, Nate.
[01:22:20] Russell Crowe.
[01:22:22] Go to the group.
[01:22:24] Gladiator.
[01:22:24] No.
[01:22:25] What, what?
[01:22:26] It's a female-led revenge films you fuck with.
[01:22:30] Also that he's the third build actor in Gladiator.
[01:22:34] Thank you, Luke.
[01:22:35] That's the more impressive faux pas.
[01:22:38] Thank you.
[01:22:40] I thought it was funny.
[01:22:41] Luke got it.
[01:22:43] Luke got it on being a dipshit.
[01:22:44] I know.
[01:22:45] Luke gets me.
[01:22:46] Luke gets me.
[01:22:51] Gene Hackman.
[01:22:55] Used my guess.
[01:22:57] Welcome to Mooseport.
[01:22:59] 1995's Welcome to Mooseport.
[01:23:02] Oh, that was 2003, buddy.
[01:23:04] Was it that late?
[01:23:05] It was.
[01:23:06] That was Gene Hackman's last acting role with
[01:23:08] Gene Hackman and Russell Crowe.
[01:23:09] Ray Romano.
[01:23:11] That you're done listing, right?
[01:23:13] Yeah, so now it's time to guess the movie
[01:23:14] and the lead actress.
[01:23:15] In what year, 1995?
[01:23:17] It was directed by Sam Raimi.
[01:23:19] Oh, it's a Sam Raimi film.
[01:23:20] You got it.
[01:23:21] I don't.
[01:23:23] I don't know.
[01:23:24] I don't know.
[01:23:25] 95, 55% on Rotten Tomatoes, directed by Sam Raimi.
[01:23:28] Third build, Russell Crowe.
[01:23:30] Gene Hackman.
[01:23:31] Second build, Gene Hackman.
[01:23:32] First build, Hoosiers.
[01:23:32] Oh, the Quick and the Dead, Sharon Stone.
[01:23:37] It is the Quick and the Dead, starring Sharon Stone.
[01:23:40] If you haven't seen The Quick and the Dead,
[01:23:41] great fucking movie.
[01:23:42] It's really fun.
[01:23:43] All right, here we go.
[01:23:44] Last one.
[01:23:45] 2018, 12% on Rotten Tomatoes.
[01:23:51] Uh.
[01:23:52] That's lower than Woody the Woodpecker.
[01:23:54] Ah!
[01:23:55] Now that's a callback.
[01:23:57] That's fucking saying something, bro.
[01:24:00] Bro.
[01:24:01] John Ortiz, John Gallagher Jr.
[01:24:06] I know John Gallagher Jr.
[01:24:07] He's a great actor.
[01:24:08] Yeah, that's all you're going to get.
[01:24:10] What year again?
[01:24:11] 2018, 12% on the Arma RT.
[01:24:19] Carrie 2.
[01:24:21] I'll give you a couple hints.
[01:24:22] This actress is not really acting all that much anymore,
[01:24:24] probably because of this movie.
[01:24:27] She's more famous now for commercials.
[01:24:31] Is this Flo from Progressive?
[01:24:32] No.
[01:24:33] That's a lot of stuff.
[01:24:34] She has a very famous A-list ex-husband.
[01:24:38] She starred in a comic book movie with him
[01:24:42] in the early 2000s.
[01:24:44] What the fuck?
[01:24:45] Not really with him, more of a franchise.
[01:24:47] Oh, um, a couple of them.
[01:24:50] Electra?
[01:24:51] No, but that's the actress.
[01:24:54] I mean, that is the actress though.
[01:24:56] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:24:57] Sorry, dang it.
[01:24:58] Carmen Electra?
[01:25:01] That was not a joke.
[01:25:03] That's why it's so funny.
[01:25:05] 2018.
[01:25:06] 2018?
[01:25:07] Obviously, Electra wasn't in 2018.
[01:25:08] With the actress from Electra who was?
[01:25:11] Kate Beckinsale.
[01:25:13] Do you really not know the person that
[01:25:14] played Electra Beckinsale?
[01:25:15] I do, but I don't know what movie this is.
[01:25:17] What's her name?
[01:25:18] What's her name?
[01:25:19] Her name's Jennifer Garner.
[01:25:20] Oh, that's the game.
[01:25:21] Yeah.
[01:25:22] But I don't remember the movie title though.
[01:25:25] Peppermint.
[01:25:25] Peppermint.
[01:25:26] Peppermint.
[01:25:26] Oh my god.
[01:25:28] Peppermint Patty.
[01:25:29] No, just Peppermint.
[01:25:30] Well she is in those.
[01:25:32] More like Peppermint Batty.
[01:25:33] She's in those commercials.
[01:25:34] They're terrible.
[01:25:37] That's me hitting the same thing.
[01:25:38] I'm not sure that most credit card commercials are
[01:25:41] like high quality advertising.
[01:25:42] Yeah, but those are bad.
[01:25:43] But you're getting paid a lot of money to do them.
[01:25:45] There's no crying in credit cards.
[01:25:48] That was my impersonation of Kate Beckinsale.
[01:25:51] This is all over the map.
[01:25:53] The wrong map.
[01:25:54] I got to say, I do love the credit card commercial
[01:25:56] with John Travolta playing Santa Claus.
[01:25:57] I loved it too.
[01:25:58] Not going to lie.
[01:25:59] Is that a real thing?
[01:26:00] Yeah, absolutely.
[01:26:00] I don't think I've ever seen it.
[01:26:01] OK, me neither.
[01:26:02] Oh, it was fantastic.
[01:26:03] The most recent round did a Saturday Night Fever bit.
[01:26:06] Yeah, it was awesome.
[01:26:07] I don't think I watch commercials.
[01:26:09] Was he kissing a male elf?
[01:26:10] He might have.
[01:26:11] He got a massage from one though.
[01:26:12] Yeah, I bet he did.
[01:26:13] I bet.
[01:26:15] Let's come out with it, John.
[01:26:16] John Travolta might be gay.
[01:26:18] Might be.
[01:26:19] Allegedly.
[01:26:20] It's OK, John.
[01:26:21] Yeah, especially when your wife's dead now.
[01:26:24] Who's his wife?
[01:26:24] Kelly Preston.
[01:26:25] She died?
[01:26:26] Well, yeah, she was his wife.
[01:26:28] I had a big crush on her in Jerry Maguire.
[01:26:31] You know who didn't?
[01:26:32] John Travolta.
[01:26:32] Let's clarify this.
[01:26:33] Jerry Maguire?
[01:26:33] Nate didn't have a crush on her in Jerry Maguire.
[01:26:35] He just liked seeing her titties bounce around.
[01:26:37] Oh, that was her.
[01:26:39] What?
[01:26:39] It's hard to know the difference.
[01:26:42] No, that's true.
[01:26:44] Also, I honestly don't even think
[01:26:46] that that was Kelly Preston nude in that scene anyway,
[01:26:48] because you only see her from the back.
[01:26:50] Ew.
[01:26:50] Brad will know.
[01:26:51] Somehow you made it, honestly, jarringly disgusting.
[01:26:56] Brad has thought about it.
[01:26:59] Everything that you just said right there was just so like,
[01:27:02] No, he's thought about it.
[01:27:03] No, no, just like he's written this down.
[01:27:06] Well actually, you only see it from the back at the 17
[01:27:09] minute and 34 second mark.
[01:27:11] No, because that's what you're really clearly a body double
[01:27:13] because Kelly Preston has a mole on her left buttock
[01:27:15] and then this actress to have the mole on the right buttock.
[01:27:17] No, but it's because you start to realize after a while
[01:27:18] that if there is a nude scene but you
[01:27:20] don't see the actress face, it's
[01:27:21] because the actress isn't really
[01:27:22] doing the nude scene because that actress typically
[01:27:24] doesn't do nude scenes.
[01:27:25] That's such misleading.
[01:27:28] It's like Beach Boys not surfing.
[01:27:29] And Luke's mad about it.
[01:27:30] So we're doing the Lord's work here, right, Nate?
[01:27:33] By putting this information out there.
[01:27:36] So yeah, sometimes if you see a movie
[01:27:38] and there's a nude scene and you don't see the actress
[01:27:40] face, that's probably not the actress doing the nude scene.
[01:27:43] So don't get too excited, boys.
[01:27:44] Brad is just over here besmirching the dead.
[01:27:46] And ladies, he's thought about it a lot.
[01:27:48] He's thought about it a lot.
[01:27:49] She was in some would say too much.
[01:27:50] I don't want to be misled.
[01:27:52] She was in a
[01:27:53] If I'm at home
[01:27:56] Whoa, whoa, whoa.
[01:27:58] You are getting worked up.
[01:28:00] If 11 year old Brad open his home
[01:28:03] and he wants to churn hog to Kelly Preston riding
[01:28:06] Jerry Maguire, he should be able to trust
[01:28:09] that that's Kelly Preston in the movie and not be deceived by Hollywood.
[01:28:13] This is America.
[01:28:14] 11 year old Bradford Oman wants to fire off some knuckle children
[01:28:18] to Kelly Preston.
[01:28:20] It better be.
[01:28:21] Yeah, exactly. Seriously, if I'm going to fucking play my banjo,
[01:28:24] then I better be twanging for a reason.
[01:28:28] Because this is America.
[01:28:29] Yeah, this is America.
[01:28:30] We do not lie, especially when it comes to splurting the yogurt.
[01:28:35] What else was she in?
[01:28:36] She was in For Love of the Game.
[01:28:38] That's true.
[01:28:39] She was also in other sports movies.
[01:28:42] Mystery, Alaska.
[01:28:45] I don't know. That's Russell Crowe.
[01:28:46] That is Russell Crowe.
[01:28:47] No, but she's not in mystery.
[01:28:48] No, I came out in the year 1999.
[01:28:50] I do love Mr. I like that movie.
[01:28:52] I like that movie a lot.
[01:28:54] No. So this has been go listen to go
[01:28:57] go watch Mystery Alaska, please.
[01:28:59] She was in a movie called Battlefield Earth.
[01:29:02] That she was that she was Joe Starkey
[01:29:05] loved Battlefield Earth.
[01:29:08] Don't now we're now we're searching the dead.
[01:29:09] Joe, come on where he insisted.
[01:29:13] No, no, you guys are wrong.
[01:29:14] That's true. Joe wasn't a Scientologist.
[01:29:16] I'm not guaranteed every again till his dying day.
[01:29:21] That movie. No great movie. Great movie.
[01:29:23] I have a fun. No, no, no.
[01:29:24] There's a difference between a bad movie that you like,
[01:29:27] which would be that.
[01:29:28] And you're saying it's a great movie.
[01:29:30] No, that's a great movie.
[01:29:32] John Travolta. He's fantastic in it.
[01:29:34] Oh, my God, dude.
[01:29:35] So when I was a kid,
[01:29:36] I really liked getting the novelizations of movies as books.
[01:29:41] Like that way he could watch Kelly Preston.
[01:29:44] You read it in your own way.
[01:29:47] Well, to be fair, because they did always put
[01:29:48] like the pictures in the middle of the book
[01:29:50] and from the movie.
[01:29:51] But no, I really did like getting books
[01:29:54] that were the novelizations of movies when I was a kid.
[01:29:56] Brad, when you were 11, you climaxed.
[01:29:58] Did you do you yell? Show me the money.
[01:30:01] No, no, I just went.
[01:30:04] But I wanted to get Battlefield Earth, the book.
[01:30:08] I literally remember this.
[01:30:09] It was at Kroger and it was a big book.
[01:30:12] And I asked my parents if I could get it.
[01:30:14] And for some reason, and this rarely happened
[01:30:16] because they like me reading and stuff like that.
[01:30:18] But I very specifically remember my dad being like,
[01:30:21] no, I don't think so this time.
[01:30:23] And I was like, oh, why?
[01:30:24] And my mom seemed perplexed as well.
[01:30:26] She was like, is there something wrong with the book?
[01:30:28] And my dad had like a little aside with her.
[01:30:30] And I didn't realize until years later, I was like,
[01:30:32] oh, because it's a fucking Scientology book.
[01:30:34] My dad was probably like, no,
[01:30:36] he doesn't need to be fucking reading Battlefield Earth.
[01:30:40] This is propaganda.
[01:30:42] Yeah, so that's pretty funny.
[01:30:44] Oh my God, yeah.
[01:30:46] All right, guys, that's the podcast.
[01:30:48] Yeah, we did it.
[01:30:49] We went through a whole show.
[01:30:50] Thanks for coming back again and again.
[01:30:52] I almost vomited for real on the show.
[01:30:56] Warm milk, you love the warm milk.
[01:30:57] The second time in the history.
[01:30:59] How about we go back to the past?
[01:31:01] How about warm goat's milk?
[01:31:02] I'm over it now, I'm fine.
[01:31:03] Okay.
[01:31:04] Luke, thanks for being here, buddy.
[01:31:05] Thanks for having me as always.
[01:31:07] Man, I love you so much.
[01:31:07] Thanks for coming with your hot takes.
[01:31:09] Yeah, always hot takes, Luke.
[01:31:09] And your excitement for future movies.
[01:31:11] Yeah, Deadpool and Wolverine.
[01:31:13] I do have some, yeah.
[01:31:14] Yeah, and we're gonna watch Abigail.
[01:31:16] And yes.
[01:31:17] And hundreds of Beavers.
[01:31:18] And Mystery Alaska.
[01:31:19] And Mystery Alaska.
[01:31:21] Brad, where can the people find you on the online?
[01:31:23] Always on slashfilm.com.
[01:31:25] You can also find me at Ethan underscore Anderton
[01:31:27] on Twitter and the website by no other name.
[01:31:31] Whatever Joe Rogan's saying.
[01:31:32] Yeah, you guys know how Joe Rogan loves the soundtrack
[01:31:35] for Frozen 2, because he's such a guy
[01:31:37] who's very confident in his masculinity.
[01:31:39] He's just asking questions.
[01:31:40] Yeah, exactly.
[01:31:40] He's just asking questions.
[01:31:41] I just think it's really interesting.
[01:31:42] I'm not saying I agree,
[01:31:43] I'm just saying it's really interesting.
[01:31:45] It's just interesting.
[01:31:45] It's just interesting.
[01:31:47] And that's pretty much it.
[01:31:48] Luke, do you have an online presence?
[01:31:50] I am on the Twitter, the X, whatever you wanna call it.
[01:31:53] It's coach double underscore Starkey.
[01:31:57] And if you really like hot takes,
[01:31:58] Luke's got some hot takes on Twitter as well.
[01:31:59] He had to get the double underscore
[01:32:00] because coach underscore Starkey was taken.
[01:32:02] It was taken.
[01:32:02] 12 years ago when I signed up
[01:32:04] for this stupid health web sky, I hate this.
[01:32:08] I was actively rooting for Elon Musk
[01:32:10] to drive it into the ground so I could quit
[01:32:12] because I can't quit it on my own.
[01:32:13] I'm really addicted.
[01:32:16] And as long as he's not in it,
[01:32:17] soon enough it's gonna crash.
[01:32:18] I need a megalomaniac trillionaire
[01:32:21] to wreck something so that I can stop.
[01:32:23] Yes, that's what I need.
[01:32:24] Nate, how about you?
[01:32:25] Are you online?
[01:32:26] No.
[01:32:27] Me too.
[01:32:27] All right, this has been fun.
[01:32:29] Bye everybody.
[01:32:30] Bye.
[01:32:36] Nah, cheats ain't no.
