Ben, Brad, and Nate know they've been gone a tad longer than usual, so they made up for it with a beefier episode. This one is especially fun because we have a guest from out of town, a longtime listener of Go Flix Yourself all the way from Delaware, Ohio. (Hi, I'm in Delaware). It's Cyrus Kincaid, and he's got a name like a supervillain or a detective or something like that. He's here to talk about the intense double feature that was Garfuriosa, and he even brought us a sponsor with a surprising link to Ben's nips. Plus, we talk about the trailers for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (NICE FUCKIN' TRAILER!) and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (STILL COPPIN'!).
Turn up the heat and keep make it spicy!

[00:00:00] Hey everybody, it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself. My name is Ben Conowitzen.
[00:00:21] With me as always is a failed dirigible to my jet airplane Bradford Omen.
[00:00:25] Hey that's me! That does sound like a failed dirigible.
[00:00:30] Yep, not floating. The biplane to my jet plane, Nate Lauch.
[00:00:34] What's a failed diridu? A failed dirigible?
[00:00:38] I don't know, like pickled diridu? That would be a failed diru.
[00:00:42] Did they make a pickled diridu? I think they did make a dill pickled diridu.
[00:00:44] You would know, but what's the worst diridu you've ever had?
[00:00:47] Oh that's a good question. And the stealth bomber to my jet airplane,
[00:00:51] Sy. Pretty stealthy.
[00:00:55] It's a pretty stealthy name right there. So Nate, you fuck all kinds of planes then?
[00:00:59] We're back to that already? It's a biplane.
[00:01:04] And I'm sorry that you were here for this one, Sy. It's the last episode of Go
[00:01:07] Flicks Yourself. We will never ever be heard from again because I'm going to murder myself.
[00:01:12] That's just suicide. Bang!
[00:01:14] So we've got a guest on this part. Yes, we do have a guest. Sorry, we have a guest.
[00:01:17] Brad, you brought this guest. Brad, introduce the stranger you brought into my home.
[00:01:22] Hey Brad. Hey Brad. You brought this guest.
[00:01:24] Hey Brad, real quick. Hey Brad Brad. Tell me your favorite friendship that you just met. Memory.
[00:01:30] So his name is Cyrus Kinkade. Hello.
[00:01:33] Cyrus, what's your middle name? Cyrus Manzo Kinkade.
[00:01:36] That's the best name. That is either a super villain name or a superhero. I can't tell yet.
[00:01:41] We'll find out. We'll see. Could be both.
[00:01:44] Yeah, he's our hero. So Cyrus has been a long time listener of Slashfilm Daily,
[00:01:49] which is how he discovered Go Flicks Yourself and he's been listening to Go Flicks Yourself
[00:01:53] for a while. And I also got to actually meet him in person at Star Wars Celebration in
[00:01:58] Chicago in 2019. And we've been, you know, we always engage and talk to each other on
[00:02:02] social media and stuff like that. Pussy putting around for a while.
[00:02:04] And when he found out I was leaving Indiana relatively soon here and moving to Texas,
[00:02:09] he wanted to come out and visit and check out everything. Go to Ben's Arcade and be on the
[00:02:13] podcast and just hang out and see The Majesty of La Porte, Indiana.
[00:02:16] And what were your takeaways of The Majesty of La Porte, Indiana?
[00:02:20] Oh man, it's been a great day. I've seen a lot.
[00:02:24] Saw two ducks fucking. I saw duckings.
[00:02:27] I've seen so many lily pads. I didn't know that our links having lily pads was a thing.
[00:02:33] Yeah, this was when we were driving. He was like, he's like, he's like, are you guys growing
[00:02:35] crops on your legs? And I was like, I'm like, no, those are lily pads. He's like, like all over.
[00:02:40] I'm like, yeah, they're everywhere. And we can't get rid of them.
[00:02:43] And like we said, and then once he saw more, he was like, oh my God. He's like,
[00:02:45] I can't believe it. I can't believe I didn't take pictures of the crazy part is
[00:02:49] there in my driveway. There, there's some in the bathroom here. No frogs though.
[00:02:54] Yeah, no, just the glass ass one. Have you ever seen a frog on a lily pad?
[00:02:59] Yeah. Many times. Fuck off.
[00:03:01] Well, I lived on the lake. Oh, that's true. And you really did?
[00:03:04] Absolutely. I've never seen the frog in a lily pad in real life.
[00:03:07] I've also seen like multiple turtles on one log before.
[00:03:11] So that's like a cartoon. Did you see, did they have bandanas on
[00:03:15] over their eyes and were eating pizza? Nope, nope. No, there were no ninja turtles,
[00:03:19] but they were turtles, multiple turtles sunbathing on a log. No,
[00:03:23] that's real stuff guys. It's absolutely real. All right. Pretty cool. Yes.
[00:03:27] Well, you're in La Porte, Indiana where you can also play video games.
[00:03:30] Cy, what else did you see in the port? So I took in a lot of La Porte today.
[00:03:34] The arcade full tilt. Yes, full tilt.
[00:03:37] Holla. What a great place. Thanks, man.
[00:03:40] And honest to God, my arm hurts. He was whipping. So we have a major league
[00:03:45] baseball game and he was destroying it like playing it.
[00:03:50] The score is not so high. I was overplaying pinball and I just
[00:03:53] hear tap, tap, tap. And that was him just saying that.
[00:03:57] The one game where you, what was it called? Ball. Let's bounce. The ping pong.
[00:04:02] No, no, no. The ball smasher. Oh yeah. It's a ball buster.
[00:04:04] Ball buster. Yeah. I was like level four. Nice.
[00:04:09] No jokes though. But my God, I wanted to quit.
[00:04:11] No jokes for the ball buster. But I wanted to quit.
[00:04:12] I wanted to quit because that's what did me in. It was the ball buster.
[00:04:15] We're not going after low hanging fruit, Nate.
[00:04:17] Yeah, this is a professional podcast. I make dirigible jokes.
[00:04:21] Okay. And I make bi-line jokes.
[00:04:23] Did you play the basketball game? Because this is usually where Brad and I get
[00:04:27] sore is playing the basketball. Oh, I did. Yeah. So maybe that was.
[00:04:29] The smaller of the two have, that's the one that has four rounds to it.
[00:04:33] That one is like an exhausting one. But that's not my favorite one. I like the
[00:04:38] one that's normal pop a shot. Hoop fever. Hoop fever. Anyway.
[00:04:42] That was, I'm very impressed. The progression of pinball games over the years is quite
[00:04:47] fascinating. Yeah. It's crazy. If you don't ever
[00:04:50] play them and you go into an arcade that has new ones now compared to especially
[00:04:55] 60, 70s and 80s. Holy shit. They're full on computer LCD screens and there's a lot
[00:05:00] going on with them. John Wick is the latest one that they just announced.
[00:05:03] We bought one. The arcade will have that in a couple of weeks. So they did make one
[00:05:07] out of that intellectual property. People complain because the play field doesn't have
[00:05:14] any guns on it. And so that is kind of annoying.
[00:05:17] But again, it's not an issue with the game developer. It's a rights issue. They
[00:05:22] bought the rights and the guns itself. The guns can't be incorporated due to the
[00:05:26] studio won't allow that property because it's a good thing.
[00:05:30] The property is not famous for having any gun violence.
[00:05:32] So here's the thing. You can have the cut scenes that are on the modes that
[00:05:37] trigger. All of them have guns in them. You just can't physically have the
[00:05:40] guns in the play field. Isn't that weird? And it's because of rights.
[00:05:44] It's not the rights. It's the if the studio says or whoever the rights
[00:05:49] holder says, you can have the rights to make a pinball game. But my
[00:05:54] restrictions are you cannot use guns on the play field because it's aimed at kids.
[00:05:58] That's so fucking stupid because they just welcome to America.
[00:06:02] They look at it like it's made for kids.
[00:06:04] I'm going to talk to Lyons Gate and I'm going to see if I can get them to
[00:06:06] fake it because the Seth MacFarlane collectibles and things like that,
[00:06:08] those are not aimed at kids. So they have a full on guns and all that
[00:06:11] stuff because they're not like action.
[00:06:13] I'm really annoyed by especially if the clips have guns in that.
[00:06:16] It's that's a workaround, though.
[00:06:17] Two things. Two things before before we get first thing.
[00:06:20] You're the first listener we've had since Mitch.
[00:06:22] So shout out to Mitch because we try to give Mitch a shout out most
[00:06:25] podcasts. I was so jealous of Mitch.
[00:06:27] I had to come on. Really?
[00:06:29] Why? And again, you guys are fawning over that.
[00:06:31] Oh, I got to get Mitch is a whole nother level.
[00:06:37] And if you're listening, you want to be on the podcast.
[00:06:39] You contact Brad. Maybe he'll get you on as well.
[00:06:42] Secondly, that doesn't make me feel important.
[00:06:44] No, wow.
[00:06:47] We're now in the business.
[00:06:48] Real quick, do you want to just comment on maybe how he smells?
[00:06:50] No, no, no. I didn't notice that.
[00:06:53] But secondly, he smells like Rich Mahogany because at the end we're
[00:06:57] going to get to working people.
[00:06:58] Who's rich mahogany?
[00:06:59] But I want people to tell I want you to tell where people can
[00:07:02] find your podcast right now. What's it called?
[00:07:03] Oh, I have a podcast called Sitting with Si that I do with my buddy
[00:07:07] Billy Mount. He runs a podcast network called Loud Cat Podcast,
[00:07:11] and it's one of his podcasts.
[00:07:14] He and I basically doing weeks like we even did trailer reviews
[00:07:17] a couple of times ago.
[00:07:18] I'm like, you know what? This is just too too close.
[00:07:22] But yeah, we talk about everything going on in life.
[00:07:24] And sometimes we get special guests.
[00:07:26] We had a country singer on last week, so I got to ask him
[00:07:29] tons of questions about what country singer.
[00:07:31] His name is Wes Taylor. He's local to Columbus, Ohio.
[00:07:34] But he just came out with an album.
[00:07:36] So I want to know all the ins and outs of what does it mean
[00:07:38] to how do you produce an album?
[00:07:41] How do you build a career?
[00:07:42] Right. Yeah, yeah, that was very interesting.
[00:07:45] Yeah. Maybe you can get Ben's favorite country singer.
[00:07:47] What's his name? Boy Rowdy.
[00:07:49] What is it?
[00:07:50] It's Hardy.
[00:07:50] Hardy. Yeah, Hardy.
[00:07:52] Boy Hardy.
[00:07:53] Boy Hardy.
[00:07:53] I thought Toby Keith died.
[00:07:55] I made them listen to Truck Bed just to listen to it.
[00:07:59] Let's be honest. His first favorite is Lee Greenwood.
[00:08:02] Come on. You guys are Greenwood haters?
[00:08:05] Why? I stand with Lee Greenwood.
[00:08:08] Yeah, I stand with it.
[00:08:09] I'll bet.
[00:08:10] Oh, shit.
[00:08:11] I stand with it.
[00:08:12] That's going to be our thing.
[00:08:13] Yeah, exactly. Shit.
[00:08:16] But no, so Asai, you're from near Columbus, Ohio.
[00:08:19] Yeah, I'm from Marriott, Ohio, which is southeast Ohio.
[00:08:22] But I live in north of Columbus called Delaware, Ohio.
[00:08:25] Yep.
[00:08:26] Shout out to Delaware.
[00:08:28] What is Delaware, Ohio famous for?
[00:08:30] Probably the horse race, the brown jug.
[00:08:35] I do every year.
[00:08:36] Brad, tell us about the brown jug.
[00:08:37] Brown jug, Brad.
[00:08:38] In 30 seconds.
[00:08:39] The brown jug is famous because that's where they get the chocolate milk.
[00:08:43] And as you know, horses love chocolate milk.
[00:08:46] And so whenever whoever wins the chocolate milk,
[00:08:48] they get the brown jug.
[00:08:49] Do they get to drink it or they douse it in at like the M.E. 500?
[00:08:52] They douse all over the horse and the horse is just like shaking beautifully.
[00:08:54] Like the mains splashing everywhere.
[00:08:56] You guys ever had horse milk?
[00:09:02] Can you please title the episode that?
[00:09:07] Yep.
[00:09:08] That's the name of the episode.
[00:09:10] There you go.
[00:09:11] We got it.
[00:09:14] Oh, well, that's it.
[00:09:16] It's been fun.
[00:09:18] All right.
[00:09:18] Well, normally this is the time of the show where I would ask Brad.
[00:09:26] What's your favorite?
[00:09:27] Bullshit memory that you're going to make me come up with.
[00:09:29] Oh, thanks, Elmo.
[00:09:30] Cyrus, let me ask you a question.
[00:09:32] What do you got for the podcast?
[00:09:34] OK, so from where I'm from, there's a company called Mr. B.
[00:09:39] And they produce potato chips.
[00:09:41] Yeah.
[00:09:42] So I brought three variety of potato chips today.
[00:09:44] Oh, I like where this is going.
[00:09:47] One is regular.
[00:09:48] One is called 304, which I don't that's the area code.
[00:09:50] It's got to be the area code, right?
[00:09:52] Yeah.
[00:09:52] Yeah.
[00:09:53] Good job.
[00:09:53] And then I've got a mystery flavor.
[00:09:56] I'll have you try and you guess.
[00:09:59] We're going to do the mystery flavor.
[00:10:00] Do you love these chips?
[00:10:00] Are these like, are these great chips?
[00:10:02] No.
[00:10:05] But they're local.
[00:10:07] I wanted to bring something local.
[00:10:10] I'm glad you did.
[00:10:11] We'll judge because we've had a lot of chips here.
[00:10:13] Yeah, yeah.
[00:10:14] I'm not a huge chip fan.
[00:10:15] There is it.
[00:10:16] Brad's a connoisseur.
[00:10:17] Right.
[00:10:18] There's a chocolate, a chocolatier in that town and they're world famous.
[00:10:22] But I brought these chips.
[00:10:27] Of horse milk chocolate.
[00:10:28] Horse milk chocolate.
[00:10:29] All right.
[00:10:30] Let's see if we can figure out.
[00:10:31] Let's grab these mystery flavored chips out.
[00:10:34] I'm excited.
[00:10:35] From the Ohio State bag.
[00:10:37] No, that's not.
[00:10:38] Yes.
[00:10:38] This is the ASMR section.
[00:10:40] There we go.
[00:10:41] Don't look in case of the Irving.
[00:10:43] Yeah.
[00:10:43] What are you, Brad?
[00:10:44] Now don't look!
[00:10:44] Seriously.
[00:10:45] Don't look.
[00:10:45] Brad will literally put it in front of our face.
[00:10:47] He's like, don't look.
[00:10:48] Don't look.
[00:10:48] He comes over to the stupid podcast and he puts this shit on the counter,
[00:10:51] label facing out.
[00:10:52] And I glance that way.
[00:10:53] Don't look.
[00:10:54] And he goes, don't look.
[00:10:56] Yeah, cool.
[00:10:57] Does it say what the flavor is on the bag?
[00:10:59] Yeah, I bet it.
[00:11:00] Well, I'm sure it does.
[00:11:01] How would you know what the flavor is if it's not on the bag?
[00:11:04] No, because if it's a mystery flavor, then they don't put it on the bag.
[00:11:06] You have the idea that you don't know.
[00:11:08] There's three different.
[00:11:09] Well, I have two of these.
[00:11:10] This is the mystery.
[00:11:11] Oh, this is just the mystery.
[00:11:12] OK.
[00:11:13] Oh, it's a mystery to us.
[00:11:14] Gotcha.
[00:11:14] Oh.
[00:11:17] Sorry.
[00:11:17] I got it now.
[00:11:19] All right.
[00:11:20] And it's in just a regular Ziploc bag.
[00:11:23] That's not true.
[00:11:26] It smells savory and cheesy.
[00:11:28] Oh, like, Brad's doing a wine tasting thing.
[00:11:35] Brad just spit them out.
[00:11:36] I've never even had one.
[00:11:38] Oh, really?
[00:11:38] OK, these chips are a little thicker.
[00:11:41] They're a little thicker for a regular chip.
[00:11:43] They're not a ruffled, but they're a regular chip listeners.
[00:11:51] OK.
[00:11:51] All right.
[00:11:52] If you need more, let me know.
[00:11:54] No, I got a lot.
[00:11:58] Hey, Brad, are you getting any barbecue flavor out of this or no?
[00:12:01] No, it's almost like a cheesy horseradish.
[00:12:06] Is that the flavor you think?
[00:12:07] Cheesy horseradish?
[00:12:08] I'm going to go with cheesy horseradish.
[00:12:11] Are these brown jug chips?
[00:12:15] Made with Ohio's finest horse milk?
[00:12:18] This is made up of all the losers of the brown jug.
[00:12:21] I'm getting something cheesy, right?
[00:12:22] There's cheese in there.
[00:12:23] There's cheese in there.
[00:12:24] Yeah, there's cheese in there.
[00:12:24] This is a...
[00:12:27] I'd say there's probably cheese in there.
[00:12:29] It's a cheesy barbecue?
[00:12:31] Chili cheese, maybe?
[00:12:33] You're right, though.
[00:12:33] These aren't the best chips I've had.
[00:12:37] What are the best chips you've had, Nate?
[00:12:39] Munchos.
[00:12:40] It depends.
[00:12:42] A good muncho at the right time?
[00:12:44] It depends.
[00:12:45] What kind of food am I eating with it?
[00:12:47] A hot dog.
[00:12:50] I like a good ruffle, and there's nothing better than just a regular ruffles.
[00:12:55] Lay's makes a good ruffle.
[00:12:55] What if you're sitting and having just chips?
[00:12:57] Oops, all chips.
[00:12:59] You know what I've rediscovered lately that I really love?
[00:13:02] What?
[00:13:03] Just a regular Cheeto.
[00:13:05] Okay.
[00:13:05] I like a Cheeto.
[00:13:06] I got a hand sesh with Nate, oops, all chips.
[00:13:09] No, I do love...
[00:13:10] Can you just come over and there's nothing to do but eat chips?
[00:13:11] I've rediscovered them, and they're just wonderful.
[00:13:13] Cheetos are great.
[00:13:15] Obviously, they leave your fingers stained, which isn't good for your colon, I'm sure.
[00:13:20] My colon loves Cheetos.
[00:13:22] I think Cheetos by themselves, though.
[00:13:23] That's a little much.
[00:13:24] I got to have some with the Cheetos.
[00:13:25] Who's my colon?
[00:13:26] Like a hot dog.
[00:13:27] Okay.
[00:13:28] Okay, so what's your final guesses?
[00:13:32] This is cheddar barbecue.
[00:13:33] That's all I'm going to say.
[00:13:34] Cheddar barbecue, interesting.
[00:13:35] Okay.
[00:13:37] There's a spice in here.
[00:13:38] There's a spice in there.
[00:13:39] It's a little bit of...
[00:13:40] Yeah, I can taste that.
[00:13:41] Yeah, I'm going to say...
[00:13:41] I don't know what the spice is.
[00:13:42] I'm going to say, do you not know either?
[00:13:44] Did you have someone else pack these?
[00:13:46] It's in a zip-line bag.
[00:13:47] This is the first time I've ever had it.
[00:13:49] I'm going to say chili cheese.
[00:13:52] Okay.
[00:13:53] I said cheesy barbecue.
[00:13:54] Cheese barbecue.
[00:13:54] Yeah, I'm going to go somewhere in there.
[00:13:57] Jesus.
[00:13:58] It is...
[00:14:00] Pepperoni roll.
[00:14:02] Oh, interesting.
[00:14:03] Mr. B, you don't know what you're doing.
[00:14:05] I can...
[00:14:05] Yeah.
[00:14:06] That's not what that tastes like.
[00:14:07] You silly bastard.
[00:14:09] Now that you say pepperoni actually, I can...
[00:14:11] Yep, that's what the spice is.
[00:14:12] That's the spice.
[00:14:14] And the cheese is there.
[00:14:15] It's mozzarella cheese.
[00:14:15] I bet if you taste it now, you'd...
[00:14:17] Yeah, now...
[00:14:19] Okay.
[00:14:19] You know what?
[00:14:20] Not bad.
[00:14:22] Mr. B, what's his name?
[00:14:23] Mr. B's?
[00:14:24] Mr. B.
[00:14:26] Mr. B.
[00:14:26] I sincerely thank Mr. B for sponsoring the show.
[00:14:30] I didn't think that the chip was as crunchy as it should be.
[00:14:31] I mean, it was just crunchy as a Lay's chip.
[00:14:33] You know what?
[00:14:34] Lay's are a little crunchier.
[00:14:35] Yeah, it wasn't very crunchy.
[00:14:36] Because they're a little thinner.
[00:14:37] I'd be interested to try the regular to see how...
[00:14:39] Yeah, open those regulars up.
[00:14:41] No, no, no, no, no.
[00:14:44] We'll do it off-potty.
[00:14:45] We'll do a bonus Patreon episode.
[00:14:48] Did you say Patreon?
[00:14:50] How do you say it?
[00:14:51] Patreon.
[00:14:52] Everyone in the world says Patreon.
[00:14:53] That's how you say it.
[00:14:54] Well, not in Europe.
[00:14:55] Yeah.
[00:14:56] Hey, do you guys want to have some spaghetti?
[00:15:00] My mom makes a great spaghetti.
[00:15:01] First of all, it's spaghet.
[00:15:04] Spaghet.
[00:15:06] Oh man, I like a spaghetti and Mike ball.
[00:15:09] Cy, thank you for bringing these delicious pepperoni roll chips.
[00:15:13] Hey, no problem.
[00:15:14] I wouldn't say delicious.
[00:15:15] Well, you don't like anything good though.
[00:15:17] I like a lot of good things.
[00:15:19] Name one.
[00:15:20] I like...
[00:15:22] I rest my case.
[00:15:22] Oh, you're right.
[00:15:24] I really blanked there.
[00:15:25] Yep.
[00:15:26] Hey, Brad.
[00:15:27] What's the last movie you think Cy watched?
[00:15:29] Oh, I actually think...
[00:15:31] Oh, he's got crack and open one.
[00:15:32] Yeah, I go with that one.
[00:15:35] Open up.
[00:15:35] Yeah, go do it.
[00:15:37] That's a Coke by the way.
[00:15:39] So it's not drinking beers.
[00:15:41] Room temperature.
[00:15:42] I think I know what the last movie Cy saw.
[00:15:46] Why would they?
[00:15:46] Okay, guess.
[00:15:47] What is it?
[00:15:47] I don't care about that.
[00:15:48] Brad, what is it then?
[00:15:49] Tell me.
[00:15:50] You said the last movie Cy saw.
[00:15:51] I'm just fucking around.
[00:15:52] Yeah, what is it?
[00:15:53] I'm pretty sure it was a double feature of Furiosa and Garfield the movie.
[00:15:56] Is that true?
[00:15:57] It sure was.
[00:15:58] All right, let's talk about it.
[00:16:01] Let us in.
[00:16:02] What did you think?
[00:16:03] I watched Garfield so you guys wouldn't have to.
[00:16:05] Was it bad?
[00:16:06] Horrible.
[00:16:07] Oh, was it?
[00:16:08] It was so bad.
[00:16:09] Cy, I have bad news.
[00:16:10] Even if you hadn't watched Garfield, I wouldn't have seen it.
[00:16:13] Brad, still not going out of my way.
[00:16:16] My buddy Billy who...
[00:16:18] I'll tell you a little bit about Billy.
[00:16:19] He has a mission...
[00:16:20] He loves Garfield.
[00:16:22] He loves Garfield.
[00:16:23] This dude is a connoisseur of Garfield films.
[00:16:25] He hates Mondays.
[00:16:26] Fucking hates Monday.
[00:16:27] He mouths lasagna like you wouldn't fucking believe.
[00:16:30] We looked at each other.
[00:16:31] Loves kicking dogs off tables.
[00:16:34] He had a mission this year to see 50 movies in the theater.
[00:16:38] Wow, he's the only one going to the movie theater apparently.
[00:16:41] That was the 44th movie he's seen.
[00:16:43] Oh, he's getting close already.
[00:16:44] Wow, good for him.
[00:16:46] Wow.
[00:16:47] But he will see anything.
[00:16:48] Wait, has 44 movies?
[00:16:51] Well, you have to take this into account.
[00:16:54] At our local theater, the Strand Theater in Delaware,
[00:16:56] they come out with movies every Tuesday.
[00:16:59] There's theme months.
[00:17:01] Oh, that's great.
[00:17:02] I love that.
[00:17:03] Yeah.
[00:17:04] This month is...
[00:17:05] Furiosa and Garfield.
[00:17:07] It's only on Tuesdays.
[00:17:08] It's not open.
[00:17:09] The theaters are only open for the weekends but on Tuesdays they come out.
[00:17:12] This month was employee picks, their favorite movies.
[00:17:14] The next two months are sport movies.
[00:17:16] I actually get to introduce...
[00:17:17] I would love that.
[00:17:18] I would love that.
[00:17:19] You get to introduce?
[00:17:20] I get to introduce The Pride of the Yankees.
[00:17:22] Oh, nice.
[00:17:22] I've never seen it.
[00:17:25] So I got some research to do.
[00:17:26] But wouldn't you guys love that to have previously released films come to a little theater?
[00:17:31] I would love to be able to introduce them too.
[00:17:33] Well, nobody wants that.
[00:17:35] We don't want you to do that.
[00:17:36] Wouldn't it be great to have a little theater and you get to pick everything about it?
[00:17:40] We say it all the time.
[00:17:41] Oh man, if we could do this and show this.
[00:17:44] Nate and I are actually going to make sure we program the theater when Ben decides to open one.
[00:17:48] He's going to let us do that.
[00:17:49] I don't know when this is happening, but it's happening.
[00:17:51] The hardest part is coming up with what to play at your theater.
[00:17:54] It's definitely not building it.
[00:17:56] Every time we tell Ben this, he gets mad because he's like,
[00:17:59] That's the best part!
[00:18:00] That's the only reason that I would want to do this.
[00:18:02] And he's like, oh no, no.
[00:18:03] And Brad one time was like, I could do that for you.
[00:18:05] Like kind of in earnest.
[00:18:06] Like, oh yeah, but that's kind of stressful.
[00:18:08] Like I can totally do that for you.
[00:18:10] That's literally the fun part.
[00:18:11] I didn't want to do all the programming.
[00:18:13] I said I wanted to do some of it.
[00:18:15] That's a lot.
[00:18:16] Yeah.
[00:18:16] By the way, I just wanted to do it when I was available and I wanted to.
[00:18:20] Yeah, like every maybe once a month, I want to have like a program that's like just Bradford.
[00:18:24] You do the rest of the work.
[00:18:25] How selfish could you be?
[00:18:28] I mean, here's the thing.
[00:18:29] You don't know much about movies or businesses or talking.
[00:18:34] Hey, so I just want to say this raisin was not mine.
[00:18:39] There have been other guests that have brought things.
[00:18:42] Last time we had a rabbit on.
[00:18:45] And that's one of them.
[00:18:45] That's not a raise.
[00:18:46] That's a little poop that he left.
[00:18:48] So Garfield, how was Chris Pat's voice?
[00:18:54] Did it take you out of it?
[00:18:56] No, because I don't think his voice is that bad.
[00:18:59] It was everything else about it.
[00:19:01] I've heard the voice acting in the movie in general is terrible.
[00:19:03] Pretty bad, yeah.
[00:19:05] But let's say if you remember for Super Mario, people were like, oh, he's going to be
[00:19:09] terrible, but he wasn't terrible on Super Mario.
[00:19:12] But Garfield, though, it felt like this should still be Bill Murray.
[00:19:17] Right?
[00:19:18] Or Lorenzo.
[00:19:19] Lorenzo music.
[00:19:19] Yeah.
[00:19:20] Which if you look at...
[00:19:21] It's my favorite kind of music.
[00:19:23] Lorenzo's.
[00:19:25] You can see in the background...
[00:19:26] I prefer Lorenzo's oil.
[00:19:28] When they cross the street, there's Lorenzo's music store.
[00:19:31] Oh, that's pretty good.
[00:19:32] Okay.
[00:19:32] I like that.
[00:19:32] That's a good Easter egg.
[00:19:33] That was the only good part.
[00:19:35] And then Nermal's in it for a split second because we kept saying, where's Nermal?
[00:19:39] We're not going to sit through the post-credit scene just to get to Nermal.
[00:19:42] That's funny.
[00:19:43] But John Arbuckle's voice was horrible.
[00:19:46] It's Nicholas Holt, isn't it?
[00:19:47] Yeah.
[00:19:47] I couldn't believe it.
[00:19:48] That's so weird.
[00:19:48] It was very...
[00:19:49] I loved it.
[00:19:50] It was also Chris Pratt.
[00:19:53] Chris Pratt, Chris Pratt, Chris Pratt.
[00:19:56] Was there anything funny in it?
[00:20:00] You know, I can't recall.
[00:20:00] No, see, it's not even...
[00:20:02] Yeah, I know.
[00:20:03] It was very tough.
[00:20:04] I dozed a couple times.
[00:20:07] Just bad.
[00:20:07] Really?
[00:20:08] Okay.
[00:20:08] Yeah.
[00:20:10] So then...
[00:20:12] We did like a Gar...
[00:20:13] Trying to make like a Barbenheimer thing.
[00:20:15] So he made Garfieriosa.
[00:20:21] We had Garfieriosa shirts on.
[00:20:23] That's amazing.
[00:20:24] They went for it.
[00:20:25] We're going to burn them as soon as we have the first fire in this house.
[00:20:29] No, that's a memory.
[00:20:30] It's a great memory.
[00:20:31] Can I say this though?
[00:20:33] This film cost $60 million to make.
[00:20:36] 16?
[00:20:37] 60?
[00:20:39] And it's already made $100 million.
[00:20:41] So this film is profitable, right?
[00:20:43] And The Fall Guy, which I did see, we'll talk about that, is not profitable yet.
[00:20:49] What...
[00:20:50] The Travesty.
[00:20:51] Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying.
[00:20:52] That's the weird thing about film.
[00:20:53] Hollywood.
[00:20:53] Hollywood.
[00:20:54] We don't know what we're doing.
[00:20:56] No, it's right.
[00:20:56] Garfield is not a good film.
[00:20:58] Isn't it more like audiences?
[00:20:59] But we don't know what they want.
[00:21:01] People went to go see it though.
[00:21:03] People have kids.
[00:21:04] All right, so let's get to the meat and potatoes.
[00:21:06] What about Furioso?
[00:21:07] The better film.
[00:21:08] So I preface this with saying I don't really care for post-apocalyptic movies and war movies.
[00:21:13] What do you think about space movies?
[00:21:15] Space movies, all right.
[00:21:16] They terrify me.
[00:21:18] Gravity, yeah.
[00:21:19] Yeah, don't love them.
[00:21:20] Nate just wants to talk about gravity again.
[00:21:22] Go ahead.
[00:21:24] But I liked it.
[00:21:25] It was too long.
[00:21:26] I mean, Mad Max was...
[00:21:27] Furioso is two hours.
[00:21:29] No reason this couldn't have been two hours.
[00:21:31] I do think...
[00:21:32] I think it could have stand to be a little bit shorter,
[00:21:33] but I was also never bored though.
[00:21:36] But I also do...
[00:21:37] I'm a sucker for these kind of movies, so.
[00:21:39] Yeah, I can see that.
[00:21:40] But like I said, going into it, I knew...
[00:21:41] I was going in it more for the...
[00:21:44] For the double feature.
[00:21:44] The overall experience.
[00:21:45] The overall experience.
[00:21:47] I had good popcorn.
[00:21:48] By the way, it's Furioso.
[00:21:51] Not Furioso.
[00:21:52] Thanks for mining.
[00:21:56] But this film made $65 million this week.
[00:21:59] Did we figure out who won?
[00:22:00] No, no, I think it's...
[00:22:01] Oh, Garfield did, I think.
[00:22:02] For sure?
[00:22:02] Because it was close enough that we might have to wait for the final number.
[00:22:05] Back's Office Mojo, you're right.
[00:22:07] It's about equal right now.
[00:22:08] They've not...
[00:22:09] There's a chance that either...
[00:22:10] We'll see what happens today.
[00:22:10] Yeah, either one could pull ahead by the time...
[00:22:12] But they're roughly the same.
[00:22:13] But here's the problem is Furioso is a $170 million film.
[00:22:18] It needs a lot to recoup that money.
[00:22:20] It does.
[00:22:20] It does.
[00:22:21] I hope it has long legs.
[00:22:22] I mean, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes didn't have a huge box office debut,
[00:22:25] but it's been doing pretty decently in the week since.
[00:22:28] Yeah.
[00:22:28] So hopefully...
[00:22:29] I also saw Furioso and I'm somebody who loves Mad Max, Fury Road,
[00:22:34] and I wasn't sure if this one was going to work.
[00:22:37] And I will say, I don't think it's quite on the level of Mad Max Fury Road,
[00:22:42] but it's also a different kind of movie.
[00:22:44] It doesn't have the same speed as Fury Road,
[00:22:46] because Fury Road is basically just one long chase movie.
[00:22:48] And Furioso is an epic.
[00:22:50] It's a musical.
[00:22:52] It's really an odyssey because it begins with young Furioso
[00:22:56] and follows her story and the way it unfolds.
[00:22:58] And there's still incredible action and the characters are fantastic,
[00:23:02] soundtrack's amazing, visuals are just stunning.
[00:23:06] Chris Hemsworth is an incredible maniac.
[00:23:08] Bonnie Taylor-Joy is great as Furioso,
[00:23:11] but it does lack the speed and the smoother pacing of Fury Road.
[00:23:16] It's a very minor shortcoming, but I still absolutely love this movie.
[00:23:20] Right now it's definitely one of my favorites of the year.
[00:23:21] OK.
[00:23:22] I thought that Hemsworth was trying to do Heath Ledger.
[00:23:26] I said that on Slash from Daily,
[00:23:27] and I do think that his performance does feel like it's channeling
[00:23:31] Heath Ledger-Joker kind of chaos.
[00:23:34] But he does bring his own kind of flair to it, too.
[00:23:37] Well, I love that he's not doing the...
[00:23:40] I've not seen the film yet,
[00:23:41] but it sounds like he's not doing his comedic, funny, good-looking, strong guy.
[00:23:48] Which is what he did even in Ghostbusters.
[00:23:51] Yeah.
[00:23:52] Like he has this charm to him.
[00:23:54] He's trying to do something else.
[00:23:55] No, yeah.
[00:23:56] He is an Australian bastard and he's crazy.
[00:24:00] I appreciate that he's trying something.
[00:24:02] I want to see him in something though, like normalish now.
[00:24:04] He needs to dial it back and...
[00:24:06] No, I want to see him hit...
[00:24:07] Just full throttle?
[00:24:08] Yeah, just full throttle.
[00:24:09] Or just completely.
[00:24:11] I want to see more prosthetics, more insane performances.
[00:24:14] I want to see him voice Garfield.
[00:24:16] Has he ever done a rom-com?
[00:24:21] He's done a straight up comedy, but not a romantic comedy, I don't think.
[00:24:24] I think that one of the things he was famous for in Australia
[00:24:28] was their series, Neighbors, which is kind of like a romance, I think.
[00:24:33] Isn't it?
[00:24:33] It's kind of like a drama, romance kind of show.
[00:24:37] Sure.
[00:24:38] I think.
[00:24:39] Yeah, Dananda.
[00:24:40] Dananda.
[00:24:42] My neighbor.
[00:24:43] But yeah, you're right.
[00:24:44] He's not really done a rom-com or anything like that.
[00:24:48] Yeah, I reckon he hasn't.
[00:24:50] So I watched two other movies.
[00:24:52] Yeah, go on.
[00:24:52] Now what were they?
[00:24:54] Like I said, on Tuesday nights they do retro movies sometimes.
[00:24:56] I watched The Monster Squad.
[00:24:58] Have you guys ever seen The Monster Squad?
[00:24:59] I haven't actually.
[00:24:59] I have, yes.
[00:25:01] Oh, you have?
[00:25:03] What'd you think?
[00:25:04] Oh no, I thought, never mind.
[00:25:06] I was getting confused.
[00:25:07] Wow.
[00:25:08] I saw Monster.
[00:25:10] I got confused with Little Monsters.
[00:25:12] No, I'm joking.
[00:25:14] But which Little Monsters?
[00:25:15] Little Monsters was Fred Savage.
[00:25:16] Okay.
[00:25:17] That scared the crap out of me.
[00:25:20] So what is Monster Squad?
[00:25:22] So Monster Squad was a 1987 movie.
[00:25:24] Shane Black wrote it.
[00:25:26] Oh, that's right.
[00:25:28] You know Shane Black because he, I think he was in one of your,
[00:25:32] the movies that you like.
[00:25:34] The Nice Guys?
[00:25:34] Was that what it was?
[00:25:36] Yeah.
[00:25:37] Shane Black played Hawkins in Predator.
[00:25:41] We all know this.
[00:25:42] Why do you do this?
[00:25:44] I know you like Shane.
[00:25:45] Why are you just ruining, podcast to a halt?
[00:25:48] This film did not do well.
[00:25:50] 14 million dollar budget only made 3.8.
[00:25:52] What did you think of the film?
[00:25:52] I believe it's a cult favorite.
[00:25:53] It's a cult classic.
[00:25:54] There were more people seeing this movie than-
[00:25:57] Garfield.
[00:25:58] Garfield, Furiosa.
[00:26:04] Everything combined.
[00:26:05] It was packed.
[00:26:07] It's such a fun, breezy movie.
[00:26:10] It's about like these monsters that come to a small town.
[00:26:14] And it's like classic monster.
[00:26:15] Check it out.
[00:26:15] Like a dress of vampire wearables.
[00:26:17] You're not really starring anybody though.
[00:26:19] Not a soul.
[00:26:20] Yeah, exactly.
[00:26:20] No, not a soul.
[00:26:22] Shane Black wrote this with Fred Decker.
[00:26:28] Fred Decker I think also wrote one of your favorite movies too, right?
[00:26:33] Yes, he did.
[00:26:34] Do you know?
[00:26:37] Anyway.
[00:26:38] Film called The Predator Friends.
[00:26:40] Oh my god.
[00:26:41] Predator and Friends?
[00:26:43] The Predator Friends?
[00:26:44] A film called RoboCop 3 Friends.
[00:26:50] He wrote RoboCop 3.
[00:26:51] Did you like RoboCop 3?
[00:26:55] I feel like I'm on trial.
[00:26:57] Mr. Gunnars, did you like RoboCop 3?
[00:27:00] Did you like Furiosa?
[00:27:02] D.R.S. also wrote-
[00:27:04] Yes!
[00:27:04] I'm familiar with the man's work.
[00:27:05] So had you seen-
[00:27:06] No, no, no.
[00:27:07] Demolition Man.
[00:27:08] Did you like Demolition Man?
[00:27:09] I did.
[00:27:11] What about Leith of Weapon 4?
[00:27:12] Oh my god.
[00:27:14] Had you seen Monster Squad before?
[00:27:16] Yes, I had.
[00:27:17] It's been 30 years probably.
[00:27:18] 25 years but yeah.
[00:27:20] Does it hold up?
[00:27:21] Absolutely.
[00:27:22] I was very happy it was.
[00:27:23] There's a couple of cool scenes.
[00:27:25] Like yeah.
[00:27:26] Plus Stan Winston did the special effects.
[00:27:28] It's like the Wolf Man is cool.
[00:27:29] The Mummy is so cool.
[00:27:30] It's definitely check it out.
[00:27:31] Also only an hour and 22 minutes.
[00:27:33] Hey!
[00:27:33] Kudos to this film.
[00:27:37] I think there's a documentary about the movie's latest-
[00:27:40] Do Wolf Man's Got Nards?
[00:27:41] That's what it's called?
[00:27:42] Yeah.
[00:27:44] I haven't seen it but it's on 2B or something.
[00:27:45] I haven't either.
[00:27:46] Yeah, I just know about it.
[00:27:47] That's what I-
[00:27:48] By the way, you can also watch this film for free on Pluto TV.
[00:27:51] There you go.
[00:27:52] I do love Pluto TV.
[00:27:54] So this is a film if you're wanting to watch, I'm going to watch this.
[00:27:56] I've watched it.
[00:27:58] For everyone.
[00:27:58] Yeah.
[00:27:59] Last thing I watched, well I watched The Last Starfighter.
[00:28:01] Okay.
[00:28:02] Have you guys seen this movie?
[00:28:03] I haven't seen that one actually either.
[00:28:04] I have not actually.
[00:28:07] It does not hold up.
[00:28:07] I said yes.
[00:28:08] No, I've seen it.
[00:28:09] Oh wait, nope.
[00:28:09] I was thinking about Stargate.
[00:28:11] I saw Stargate.
[00:28:14] Emmanuel in Space.
[00:28:15] 1984 film.
[00:28:17] 1984.
[00:28:18] I held high regard and then I watched it again the other night.
[00:28:22] My daughter and wife went to bed when I turned it on.
[00:28:25] That should have been the first thing.
[00:28:26] It did not hold up.
[00:28:28] Another film that doesn't really star anybody.
[00:28:31] No, back in the day they didn't need to star people.
[00:28:33] Yeah, they just needed a star fighter.
[00:28:35] Monsters.
[00:28:35] Right.
[00:28:36] Yeah, but like-
[00:28:37] You got to get just a premise.
[00:28:38] The guy that carried this film was Lance Guest.
[00:28:42] Lance Guest wrote one of your favorite movies, right?
[00:28:45] Along with Fred Decker.
[00:28:48] You might remember Lance Guest from an off-Broadway musical,
[00:28:52] Million Dollar Quartet where he played-
[00:28:54] Hawkins.
[00:28:55] Third lead Johnny Cash.
[00:28:57] That was like recently kind of-
[00:28:58] Yes.
[00:28:59] In 2019.
[00:29:01] Yeah.
[00:29:03] But it was about a kid who plays a video game so well that
[00:29:08] people from outer space come and get him, recruit him to be the last star fighter.
[00:29:11] I don't know why they haven't remade this movie.
[00:29:13] Absolutely.
[00:29:14] Make it like Gran Turismo but like it fucking goes to space and like holy shit.
[00:29:19] Fix the film, make it better.
[00:29:21] Gran Turismo meets Ender's Game.
[00:29:23] There's your movie.
[00:29:24] I'd say watch it because there are some scenes that are kind of Spielbergian
[00:29:28] when you look at it just how it's set up but not as good as I remember.
[00:29:32] According to the Wikipedia that they're actually working on a sequel concept right now.
[00:29:39] The next star fighter.
[00:29:40] It says on March 25th, 2021 WIDA posted a sequel concept reel on YouTube called
[00:29:47] The Last Star Fighters with concept art by Matt Alisop and music by Chris Tilton
[00:29:53] and Craig Safin and featuring an audio clip from the original movie by Robert Preston.
[00:29:58] There you go.
[00:29:58] So apparently there's a big or there's a small probably not a big but a push to do
[00:30:04] a sequel to this film.
[00:30:05] All right.
[00:30:05] I've never seen it.
[00:30:07] Well now you have to watch it.
[00:30:08] But except it's not great.
[00:30:11] Maybe still watch it.
[00:30:12] Yeah there's plenty of bad movies you've watched Nate.
[00:30:14] You go out of your way to watch them sometimes.
[00:30:15] Again it's not very long either so.
[00:30:18] A breezy fiddler on the roof three hours and two minutes.
[00:30:23] Is it sad?
[00:30:24] Is this film The Last Starfighters sad?
[00:30:25] Is it sad about the plight of the Jewish people?
[00:30:28] No it's not.
[00:30:29] It'll be right up fucking Nate's alley.
[00:30:31] Oh he'll if there was a star fighter and it was me and I was sad let's go.
[00:30:38] It's pretty good.
[00:30:39] It's okay.
[00:30:40] It's better than most of the trailer songs you can blow.
[00:30:43] Man fuck you guys.
[00:30:46] All right Nate what's the last movie you saw buddy?
[00:30:48] Thank you Cy by the way for bringing four movies that you've seen.
[00:30:51] Top that fucker.
[00:30:53] Sorry.
[00:30:53] Wow somebody's angry.
[00:30:56] By the way friends we haven't done an episode in a while.
[00:30:58] Lots of tension built up tension coming out.
[00:31:01] I thought that would come from Brad who's been more mad that we've not done a new
[00:31:05] episode.
[00:31:05] Especially since last time we were supposed to you guys were like I've
[00:31:07] watched anything literally haven't watched anything.
[00:31:09] We've been busy.
[00:31:11] Tired busy.
[00:31:12] Better than I have jobs.
[00:31:13] Employed.
[00:31:14] Gainfully employed.
[00:31:16] Brad's not he watches films for a living.
[00:31:17] Yep just watches movies.
[00:31:19] Paid to watch movies.
[00:31:19] I mean you're probably not far off honestly with the way the box office is going this summer.
[00:31:23] With the amount of talk last time about I think it was the last episode about Ben's nipples.
[00:31:31] We do like talking about Ben's nips.
[00:31:32] I'm hoping that the audience is coming back so.
[00:31:36] I mean why wouldn't you want more talk about Ben's icy pepperoni nipples.
[00:31:40] Here's the thing though is this the.
[00:31:42] Oh we call your nipples pepperoni rolls.
[00:31:46] This is the.
[00:31:47] Oh Mr. B's.
[00:31:49] Mr. B's pepperoni rolls.
[00:31:51] Holy shit that's Ben.
[00:31:53] Ben's nipples are now officially Mr. B's pepperoni rolls.
[00:31:56] I want to tell you guys something that I've noticed I've not said publicly yet.
[00:32:01] I love horse milk.
[00:32:03] And I tried it yet but in Ohio.
[00:32:06] Guys you guys had horse milk.
[00:32:09] But I've noticed with Ben with his nipples.
[00:32:16] I don't see them often like protruding in person but you take a picture and it's
[00:32:24] always in the picture.
[00:32:25] Yeah I mean I feel like you're not paying close enough attention because you can always
[00:32:27] see those.
[00:32:28] You do you notice them.
[00:32:29] Oh you notice them.
[00:32:30] It's like the northern lights.
[00:32:32] Why are you paying attention.
[00:32:33] They are.
[00:32:35] You can't miss them it's like walking up and they're just like popping.
[00:32:41] Seriously it's like a fire bell.
[00:32:42] Yeah see I thought they only appeared in pictures like when the cameras out there
[00:32:46] they are like ghosts.
[00:32:47] Yes.
[00:32:49] A nipple-rishon.
[00:32:52] He's got little little orbeez around his nips.
[00:32:56] All right I'm sorry.
[00:32:58] No no never apologize for bringing up Ben's nipples.
[00:33:03] Don't never apologize.
[00:33:05] Don't you never apologize.
[00:33:07] All right Nate for a drink.
[00:33:08] All right I went to the theater to see a film.
[00:33:10] I have not been to the theater in months and it was good to be back.
[00:33:13] Oh so it's your fault.
[00:33:16] No it's not my fault.
[00:33:16] I'm actually part of the solution.
[00:33:18] I went to go see The Fall Guy.
[00:33:19] Hell yeah.
[00:33:21] I went to go see The Fall Guy in theater and I thought you know what
[00:33:24] I'm probably going to be the only one there because this film did not do
[00:33:26] well in the theater but it is well reviewed.
[00:33:29] It's a good film.
[00:33:31] And so I went to go see with my girlfriend Eveline.
[00:33:34] We went to Valparaiso Indiana to see The Fall Guy and shockingly the theater was full.
[00:33:42] What day was it?
[00:33:44] Sunday.
[00:33:45] Monday morning.
[00:33:46] Well no it was Sunday.
[00:33:47] Okay that's surprising.
[00:33:48] Yeah it was and they told me I asked the person taking the tickets I said oh wow
[00:33:55] because you know they have you pick your seat.
[00:33:57] I'm like wow there's a lot of people here and she's like it's been packed all day.
[00:34:01] So that's good for the theater right.
[00:34:03] Hopefully they had a good time.
[00:34:04] Blossom over that he's got a girlfriend.
[00:34:07] You guys gave me a bunch of shit when I said my girlfriend Ashley.
[00:34:10] Nobody's really surprised that I have a girlfriend.
[00:34:13] Yeah I don't know like Nate's pulling it.
[00:34:17] Yeah that makes sense.
[00:34:19] It does make sense.
[00:34:20] Yeah like when you do it we're like we're kind of proud.
[00:34:22] Like it's like my answer like it's an answer to prayer for us right.
[00:34:28] Like good for you the Lord has delivered.
[00:34:31] With these nipples it's hard but you gotta find somebody who loves you for more than
[00:34:35] your horrible horrible pepperoni nipples.
[00:34:40] So The Fall Guy is a lot of fun.
[00:34:42] It's about 20 minutes too long I thought.
[00:34:44] Yeah I do think that it could use some trimming here and there.
[00:34:47] But Ryan Gosling that guy he's just the most charming person I think.
[00:34:53] The most charming actor in Hollywood right now.
[00:34:55] I'm not saying a lot.
[00:34:56] He's so much fun in this film.
[00:34:58] How far behind is Glenn Powell?
[00:35:00] I mean he's got a little ways to go because he hasn't quite proven like that he can
[00:35:04] like lead a movie yet.
[00:35:05] No and he's got a lot of charisma.
[00:35:07] He does he really does.
[00:35:09] Glenn Powell doesn't know how to do the affable silly funny guy like Ryan Gosling.
[00:35:16] There is something that Ryan Gosling feels a little more relatable than Glenn Powell so
[00:35:20] far.
[00:35:20] But I do think Glenn Powell has potential.
[00:35:22] No I agree and I love Glenn Powell.
[00:35:24] I do but like Ryan Gosling just does this thing where he's a good looking guy but
[00:35:30] somehow you relate to him in a way.
[00:35:32] And he does he's not canned in this right.
[00:35:36] But there's these ken-isms right in this film that he does.
[00:35:39] And they're just so funny.
[00:35:42] Emily Blunt's always charming she's fantastic.
[00:35:44] They're great together.
[00:35:45] Yeah they have great chemistry.
[00:35:47] Hannah Waddingham does fun.
[00:35:49] She does some fun things.
[00:35:50] Winston Duke I think is a secret MVP of this film.
[00:35:53] Yeah he's so much fun.
[00:35:54] It's just a fun film like I really enjoyed this film.
[00:35:57] You've seen the Fall Guy 2 right Sy?
[00:35:58] Yeah it's about 20 minutes too long I thought but I thought it was fun.
[00:36:02] But I don't know what people want like that movie can't.
[00:36:04] Yeah that's exactly what I'm saying.
[00:36:07] I walked out halfway through.
[00:36:08] He did because there was a tornado warning and they shut the movie down.
[00:36:11] Oh yeah.
[00:36:12] So what is especially fun about this is it's directed by a stunt guy right.
[00:36:17] So the stunts in this are fantastic.
[00:36:19] And it's really a love letter to stunt guys too.
[00:36:20] So it is a film to see in the cinema because there's big action in this film.
[00:36:26] It's funny.
[00:36:27] I had heard that for some whatever reason
[00:36:30] audiences didn't think the trailer looked particularly engaging.
[00:36:34] I thought the trailer was fantastic.
[00:36:35] I did too.
[00:36:35] The trailers actually got me excited to see it.
[00:36:37] Same here yeah on my podcast I watched this trailer.
[00:36:41] Oh which one?
[00:36:42] Go flicks yourself.
[00:36:43] That sounds fun what's that about?
[00:36:45] We talk we still worry about it I don't care.
[00:36:48] I watched the Fall Guy with Lee Majors.
[00:36:52] Oh the show?
[00:36:53] Growing up yeah the show.
[00:36:54] I think I do wonder I don't think a lot of people even knew that this movie was based on a TV show.
[00:36:58] No way.
[00:36:59] Well I think the people that were in the theater when I went because they're all 80 years and older did.
[00:37:05] Did they cheer when Lee Majors showed up in the credits?
[00:37:08] I sure as hell did.
[00:37:09] I'm like where the hell is he?
[00:37:12] But it was weird to look because we were later to the film.
[00:37:16] We got there during the credits and so our seats were a little front you know a little more in
[00:37:21] the front so I looked behind us when our theater was over I'm like oh there's only like 80
[00:37:24] year old people here which is too bad because like I said it is not an old person film.
[00:37:29] It is a fun film to see.
[00:37:31] And old people hate fun movies.
[00:37:33] They do they hate fun just in general.
[00:37:35] It's true.
[00:37:36] Yeah I think the Fall Guy is also great and I hope that you people go out of your way to see it.
[00:37:42] You people?
[00:37:44] What do you mean by you people?
[00:37:50] Fucking asshole.
[00:37:53] What did you want?
[00:37:54] You knew what you were doing.
[00:37:55] Yeah but you don't need to just like tee it up doesn't mean you have to swing.
[00:38:00] Yeah I'm pulling it up.
[00:38:02] Brad's racism.
[00:38:09] But to be fair I do want them to see it.
[00:38:13] I want everyone to see it.
[00:38:14] I want the blacks and Mexicans the Jews especially.
[00:38:21] They just stop counting their money for a minute go to the theater and save America.
[00:38:27] Are you ready?
[00:38:28] What was it they said three if you three and a half if you went to the movie three
[00:38:31] and a half times really four times everyone who said they were going to go to the movies
[00:38:35] we'd be in a lot better shape.
[00:38:37] Yeah I think that's probably true.
[00:38:38] All right I saw another film this is not in the theater but it was released to Amazon Prime
[00:38:45] called The Idea of You.
[00:38:46] Have you seen this yet?
[00:38:47] Yeah I think I talked about that on the podcast.
[00:38:50] Did you like this I can't remember.
[00:38:51] I did yeah.
[00:38:52] On a podcast?
[00:38:53] Yeah.
[00:38:53] What podcast?
[00:38:54] Which podcast?
[00:38:54] It's called Go Flix Yourself.
[00:38:55] Yeah well that was a fun bit to rehash.
[00:38:57] Okay.
[00:38:57] Is that Anne Hathaway?
[00:38:58] You chose to do this.
[00:38:59] I don't know what I'm doing we know I don't know what I'm doing.
[00:39:02] I am by far the worst part of this podcast and it's time we just admit it.
[00:39:07] It's um.
[00:39:08] Here we are.
[00:39:08] Starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas.
[00:39:11] Anne Hathaway or Anna Hathaway?
[00:39:12] Anne Hathaway.
[00:39:13] Okay just checking.
[00:39:15] Period Sa.
[00:39:16] Nicholas Period Sa.
[00:39:19] Galatine?
[00:39:20] Galitzen.
[00:39:21] Galitzen and.
[00:39:23] Gelatin.
[00:39:24] It's a romcom.
[00:39:25] It's fun.
[00:39:26] Anne Hathaway I don't know how old you are Anne Hathaway.
[00:39:29] She's probably 41.
[00:39:31] That is correct I just looked her up.
[00:39:33] Correct she's 41.
[00:39:34] Do them great for 41.
[00:39:36] Kudos to you.
[00:39:36] 100%.
[00:39:38] Doing great.
[00:39:40] You know right where I expect her to be.
[00:39:42] She's really just doing great.
[00:39:44] Really holding her own.
[00:39:45] Yeah you know I see her doing doing big things down there.
[00:39:48] Really happy for her.
[00:39:49] I'm not even talking about any kind of looks here.
[00:39:52] No no good for her.
[00:39:53] Yeah just good for her.
[00:39:54] Healthy and fun and just just wonderful.
[00:39:57] I like that for her.
[00:39:58] Good choices overall compounded by time.
[00:40:02] Good skin.
[00:40:03] Good skin.
[00:40:03] I don't know if you've seen her skin.
[00:40:05] Like this.
[00:40:05] Can of a horse milk.
[00:40:09] You couldn't do it.
[00:40:10] I couldn't do it.
[00:40:11] I couldn't get through it.
[00:40:12] But I get why a 25 year old would like Anne Hathaway
[00:40:14] because I would like Anne Hathaway when I was 25.
[00:40:16] I like her now.
[00:40:18] Well you're not 25.
[00:40:19] Like 20 years ago.
[00:40:20] Yeah so fun fun little romcom.
[00:40:24] It's not perfect.
[00:40:25] I think it's more rom than com honestly.
[00:40:27] It is there's not a ton of com in there but it is.
[00:40:31] It's categorized as romcom.
[00:40:32] Yeah I think I said this when we talked about on the podcast.
[00:40:35] I was impressed by how authentic it felt
[00:40:38] and how that's the story kind of sucked me in
[00:40:41] because I didn't think the trailer looked very good.
[00:40:45] No I remember thinking the trailer was also
[00:40:49] it wasn't as heavy as the trailer made it seem to be.
[00:40:51] No.
[00:40:52] Like it was a little lighter.
[00:40:53] Yeah.
[00:40:53] So I think that's where the com comes in.
[00:40:55] It's not comedy but it isn't as as heavy as just a romantic piece would be.
[00:41:02] Right.
[00:41:03] There's a little bit of levity to it.
[00:41:04] It's a little bit lighter than that.
[00:41:06] Yeah but it's fun.
[00:41:07] We can we can cut this if we need to for time
[00:41:09] because it's kind of a tangent that means nothing.
[00:41:12] I've been as you all know I watch a lot of animated shows
[00:41:16] and a lot of times of course there are celebrity voices
[00:41:18] that get thrown in there right.
[00:41:19] And so at the end of the show I always look for that name
[00:41:22] and be like because man that sounded really like Hugh Jackman.
[00:41:25] Was that really and on Family Guy a lot of times like it was
[00:41:29] it was really Hugh Jackman right.
[00:41:31] So on American Dad they have this this multiverse plot
[00:41:35] where in all of the multiverses the only consistent thing is Shaggy the rapper.
[00:41:40] Yeah.
[00:41:41] And and he in the show somebody that kind of sounds like Shaggy
[00:41:45] has kind of like a soliloquy almost like he just keeps going and going.
[00:41:51] And then at the end it's absolutely Shaggy
[00:41:53] and it blew my fucking mind and I was thinking
[00:41:56] does that ever happen in in real movies that are not
[00:41:58] because obviously in makeup and things like that you know Matt Damon
[00:42:01] and in the in Thor or whatever.
[00:42:04] But like is there about a time where you're like why is that really him
[00:42:06] and then you see it in the credits fuck that really was so and so.
[00:42:09] You did anything like this.
[00:42:11] No because like you can you speak out to you.
[00:42:13] You can usually like you can tell.
[00:42:15] Tell yeah because like because that's the thing with animation
[00:42:18] is like if they're doing the voice you know if it kind of sounds like him
[00:42:20] then what will go on.
[00:42:21] What brought this up.
[00:42:22] I was so bored listening to you about your romcom shit.
[00:42:24] Okay all right.
[00:42:25] She's going to make sure that's right.
[00:42:26] That's right.
[00:42:27] I was fading fast.
[00:42:28] Okay the other film I saw was a film I've seen before so moving on.
[00:42:35] What was it.
[00:42:36] In the Heights.
[00:42:38] In the Heights.
[00:42:39] In the Heights is one of the first movies after the pandemic well really
[00:42:43] kind of during it that I saw in the theater because they had like a special
[00:42:47] screening for Mother's Day I think.
[00:42:49] Yeah they started kind of bringing movies back after.
[00:42:52] Yeah and it didn't it didn't do terribly well.
[00:42:55] Was it double feature bad boys for life.
[00:42:58] This film is because that was the other movie I saw during the pandemic.
[00:43:01] This film is fun.
[00:43:02] You should see this film.
[00:43:03] It's it's it's phenomenal.
[00:43:06] The choreography is fantastic.
[00:43:07] I do think it's a tad too long as well though.
[00:43:09] Well this is the problem with any movie that's not too long.
[00:43:13] No but no this is a problem.
[00:43:16] Any musical adapted to a film or you do what Wicked is doing and turn it into two films.
[00:43:22] Yeah because there's one thing I want it's definitely two movies.
[00:43:25] Yeah but but this is the problem is Wicked is a three hour musical.
[00:43:28] How do you turn it into an hour and 45 minutes.
[00:43:31] It won't.
[00:43:31] It was very weird though that they chose to call the first one Wicked and the second one Ed.
[00:43:35] Yeah.
[00:43:36] I thought that's a misstep.
[00:43:38] Okay they count as winners guys these jokes they're free.
[00:43:42] This podcast has always been fucking free and if you don't like it turn it don't turn it off.
[00:43:46] The weird thing is is Wicked was actually originally supposed to be a John Wick origin
[00:43:51] story and Ed was just a reboot of the Matt LeBlanc baseball movie where he plays baseball with a gorilla.
[00:43:57] It's an orangutan.
[00:43:58] All right well but good for it.
[00:43:59] It's not an orangutan it's actually a gorilla.
[00:44:03] It's a chimpanzee.
[00:44:04] It's not.
[00:44:05] Ed is a chimpanzee.
[00:44:06] You're thinking of Dunstan chicks.
[00:44:08] No that's a chimpanzee no that's an orangutan what are the monkeys.
[00:44:12] You you changed so quickly.
[00:44:18] You're like no that's a oh no that's an orangutan.
[00:44:23] Everything I know is wrong.
[00:44:24] You know it's an orangutan right not with a G on the end.
[00:44:26] I don't know you've been saying tan for a while.
[00:44:27] No I said I said an orangutan.
[00:44:29] Is it really.
[00:44:31] Well I hope Kevin Costner doesn't listen to this and get like scared.
[00:44:34] He does.
[00:44:34] He's a big listener.
[00:44:36] Honestly Ben is right Ed it is a chimp.
[00:44:39] I know I'm right.
[00:44:41] All you have to say is thank you.
[00:44:44] Even when I'm right I'm wrong.
[00:44:47] Are you really looking at what what the monkey is in Dunstan checks in.
[00:44:53] Brad does not do wrong well.
[00:44:56] Yeah I think it is but it's like it's not it's not.
[00:44:58] I think it is.
[00:44:59] It's a good little board.
[00:44:59] He bought it.
[00:45:00] Is that part of the poster?
[00:45:01] I think it could be both.
[00:45:03] I mean really.
[00:45:04] But it's not like a typical.
[00:45:06] That's actually no you know what actually it was Marissa Tome.
[00:45:10] That's mean.
[00:45:10] That is mean.
[00:45:11] Marissa Tome is beautiful.
[00:45:12] That's a joke.
[00:45:13] Yeah exactly.
[00:45:13] No but he's also attracted to orangutans.
[00:45:16] Well yeah if it looks like Marissa Tome.
[00:45:18] That's a good point.
[00:45:20] I met her last year.
[00:45:22] Well that tops everything.
[00:45:25] Yeah I did it on purpose.
[00:45:26] I had this conversation off air.
[00:45:28] Wink wink.
[00:45:29] Was she very nice.
[00:45:30] She was very nice.
[00:45:31] Was she very soft spoken.
[00:45:33] Very oh very yeah.
[00:45:35] Did she check into a hotel.
[00:45:36] We get an answer Brad on that or are we just gonna.
[00:45:39] It is an orangutan.
[00:45:40] Okay well just not an orangutan like you thought.
[00:45:45] That's all I've seen.
[00:45:46] Brad what about you buddy.
[00:45:47] Have you seen any films.
[00:45:49] Well have I seen some films.
[00:45:51] You don't remember do you.
[00:45:52] Let me check my list.
[00:45:55] Oh this is gonna be hey listeners 30 minutes.
[00:45:58] Give us 30 minutes.
[00:45:59] Buckle up get ready to hear nine movies you'll never see.
[00:46:04] Four that will make you cry if you do.
[00:46:05] And five that are from 824.
[00:46:08] I saw a distant kiss in the desert.
[00:46:12] Now this is Polanski's latest and.
[00:46:15] And let me tell you it is raw.
[00:46:18] And when I say raw it is seven hours long black and black.
[00:46:22] And just gets me going.
[00:46:24] It's just black screen with noises.
[00:46:27] So I saw if John Krasinski's if.
[00:46:31] I know you probably didn't.
[00:46:32] Or imagine it.
[00:46:33] Well you know that because we already had a conversation about it.
[00:46:35] We've been podcasting for three weeks.
[00:46:36] Smart ass.
[00:46:38] So yes this is John Krasinski's if or imaginary friends.
[00:46:41] They didn't want to call it imaginary friends I guess because you know if just better for SEO results.
[00:46:48] And it's not great.
[00:46:50] I was only a 50 percenter on run yeah I was disappointed and I really did want to like this movie.
[00:46:55] We saw the trailer.
[00:46:55] I don't think you did.
[00:46:56] No I disagree.
[00:46:57] I don't think you did.
[00:46:58] You're saying this based on the fact that I didn't think the trailer looked very good and I didn't.
[00:47:01] And you were dead.
[00:47:02] And I was and I was fucking right.
[00:47:04] But no I even when I see a trailer where I don't think it looks particularly good.
[00:47:08] And I quote Brad Oman if looks like a piece of shit and I'm not giving it a chance.
[00:47:12] No.
[00:47:12] When I and I quote and I end quote and and I quote I'm going to go to this film and hate it.
[00:47:18] That's what you said before you went to the film and what happened.
[00:47:21] I went to the film.
[00:47:22] I'm already writing my negative review after I see the film I will send Brad Oman.
[00:47:27] All right well you heard it here first.
[00:47:28] Ethan Anderton.
[00:47:30] The title of this if this was a good movie.
[00:47:31] I always want a movie to be good because A.
[00:47:36] I don't want to waste my time B.
[00:47:37] I want to be entertained and so I was hoping this one could pull it off and like every
[00:47:42] time I felt like it was getting to a point where like oh OK yeah this is this has some
[00:47:45] charm too I like it.
[00:47:46] It would just kind of like lose steam.
[00:47:50] It would like it just it isn't neither there are two movies working here one of them is
[00:47:53] a tearjerker one of them is a fun fantastical adventure whimsical whimsical and the two
[00:47:59] don't blend very well together.
[00:48:00] Krasinski has a really hard time balancing the tone of the seriousness with the fun.
[00:48:04] And Chris is talented.
[00:48:05] He is he is and but yeah and it's just didn't work for me like the funniest stuff is in
[00:48:09] the trailer there's nothing surprising the movie Ryan Reynolds isn't given a lot to do.
[00:48:13] It feels like he's John Krasinski is really pushing like look how charming and like fun
[00:48:18] this movie is and it's like but it's but it's not really like you know like he
[00:48:22] he it feels like he really wants it to be that and it just does not doesn't ever
[00:48:27] he wanted to do something other than yeah the whole story kind of lacks focus like it's
[00:48:32] it never really like digs into anything enough to make you care about it's about
[00:48:36] imagine your friends but there's there's a fun plot there I think there is and I
[00:48:41] think if he would have focused more on one side he might have been able to pull
[00:48:43] some something off but like he I feel like he's dealing with some stuff like
[00:48:47] about it with his kids growing up and wanting them to like appreciate life and
[00:48:51] not lose sight of like their childhood and that kind of thing.
[00:48:54] Do you think maybe that's why you didn't like it as much as you know how
[00:48:58] I actually think that one of the movie's biggest problems is that it kind of leans too
[00:49:02] much in this idea of like wasn't life so much better when you were a kid and like
[00:49:06] it tries to like make you feel like nostalgia but like for things that like you're not
[00:49:11] really nostalgic about you know.
[00:49:13] It's I got plenty of friends.
[00:49:15] I don't need this fucking imaginary bullshit.
[00:49:17] Oh cool big purple hairy thing awesome.
[00:49:19] Yeah I got a big hairy Ben in my closet.
[00:49:21] Yeah I got a nice flashlight in my bed.
[00:49:24] You know oh no.
[00:49:25] I just thought I just take umbrage with the fact that you you want to like every film.
[00:49:30] No because I don't think you do.
[00:49:33] Okay I got a new pull from Brad this summer from 2024 from executive producer Harvey
[00:49:39] Weinstein and Brad's like oh I hope this is a good movie.
[00:49:42] Yeah I mean wouldn't it be great if he had a comeback.
[00:49:46] Well I didn't believe in cancer culture until just now.
[00:49:50] Hey put Travis Gossie in a film you think he's gonna like it.
[00:49:53] He wants to you want it to be you want to like that.
[00:49:57] You want like that film I would love it to succeed.
[00:49:59] Oh you couldn't even say that you couldn't I heard it in your voice.
[00:50:04] You fought vomit to say those words.
[00:50:06] Travis Kelsey oh boy is a piece of shit.
[00:50:11] People that don't listen to our Saturday Night Live podcast don't would not understand
[00:50:17] that they just think that you really love Taylor Swift or something but that's not why.
[00:50:21] Does not like.
[00:50:21] Don't get me wrong I do like Taylor Swift but I fucking hate Travis Kelsey.
[00:50:25] Whereas Ben and I don't dislike Travis Kelsey.
[00:50:26] Not at all he's charming.
[00:50:27] Oh I am so charming look at me and my beard.
[00:50:31] That's a pretty good Kelsey.
[00:50:32] I got such a great podcast with my brother who's way more talented than me.
[00:50:36] It's still pretty spot on he does sound like that.
[00:50:37] It's exactly what it sounds like.
[00:50:38] Fucking Travis Kelsey.
[00:50:39] What else did you notice in IF how the one the older ladies the grandma's
[00:50:47] IF looked just like the one of those masks from the Strangers movie.
[00:50:51] Oh wow you're right.
[00:50:53] It's a horror film.
[00:50:55] So you saw it what did you think?
[00:50:57] I did same thing.
[00:50:59] I really liked it.
[00:51:00] Oh good that's good.
[00:51:02] Yeah I got into it and you know.
[00:51:04] I want to hear more.
[00:51:05] I really want to like this film like and I actually do unlike Brad.
[00:51:09] Brad says he wants to like the film he didn't he didn't like the film he
[00:51:11] didn't like the trailer.
[00:51:13] I went with you know 12 year old my.
[00:51:15] Was it win enough for you.
[00:51:17] Right yeah.
[00:51:17] Yeah all right I'll go see it then.
[00:51:20] You were gonna see it anyway.
[00:51:21] No actually I didn't because I went to go see the ball.
[00:51:24] You're going to see it anyway.
[00:51:26] I'm gonna see it but I might go see it in the theater now.
[00:51:29] You would have seen what else you watch.
[00:51:31] What why are you so angry?
[00:51:33] What else you watch?
[00:51:34] Because this is going to be a 30 minute segment of Brad's film.
[00:51:36] This is my least favorite part of my day.
[00:51:37] He's so angry.
[00:51:39] He's got anger issues you know this.
[00:51:41] Yeah he's got problems.
[00:51:42] I just am so impatient with this part.
[00:51:44] I also saw the strangers chapter one.
[00:51:46] Finally.
[00:51:46] Two movies just two two to the nine.
[00:51:48] I saw the strangers chapter one.
[00:51:50] Oh I didn't know that was out.
[00:51:51] Yeah it is out go to a theater.
[00:51:54] See you see what we're dealing with audience.
[00:51:57] I saw you're here person you see now what it is.
[00:52:00] It's hard it's really hard it's hard for us.
[00:52:01] It's hard I hear from him.
[00:52:04] This is has been touted as a prequel to the strangers and it is not.
[00:52:11] It is the first chapter of a whole new trilogy in case you didn't know that.
[00:52:16] They have shot all three of the movies.
[00:52:17] They are going to be coming out over the next couple years.
[00:52:21] And this is basically just a new story with the strangers characters and like tormenting a new couple.
[00:52:28] The trailer has made it seem like like see how the strangers began.
[00:52:31] It's like but it's not the same.
[00:52:32] Not really.
[00:52:32] Yeah and they're not giving you like an origin story like saying this is where the strangers came from.
[00:52:37] They're just there and they're terrorizing a couple like they did in the first movie and the second.
[00:52:41] Is it good though?
[00:52:42] It's fine.
[00:52:43] It was not reviewed very well.
[00:52:44] It it suffers from the fact that it came after two movies including the original strangers which
[00:52:50] already did what this movie tries to accomplish again and it doesn't really do anything special
[00:52:54] with it.
[00:52:55] There are moments of suspense there you know there as there are with any thriller of its kind.
[00:53:00] How many plague doctor costumes none.
[00:53:05] Yeah none.
[00:53:06] Okay do you know what a plague doctor looks like.
[00:53:08] Nope.
[00:53:10] It's the black like elongated crow mask.
[00:53:15] Oh none.
[00:53:15] Okay.
[00:53:18] No it's actually the same masks from the I assumed but I just thought I'd ask.
[00:53:23] Did you like the first one?
[00:53:24] I did.
[00:53:24] I liked the original stranger.
[00:53:25] I like pray at night too actually.
[00:53:27] I think I think pray nights a fun sequel.
[00:53:28] Oh there's a sequel.
[00:53:29] What's that?
[00:53:29] Yeah you ever seen the strangers pray at night.
[00:53:30] No.
[00:53:31] Better than better than the crazies.
[00:53:35] I think that I like the crazies better than the strangers.
[00:53:38] I don't like the crazies better than the strangers but I like the crazies and I don't think that
[00:53:41] this is as good as the crazies because it's basically doing the exact same thing that
[00:53:45] the strangers did and so it's kind of just treading water essentially.
[00:53:50] Think about these films though a lot of these horror films are they're so cheap to make
[00:53:54] right they're 20 million dollar budget so if they make 50 million dollars.
[00:53:58] Si big horror guy?
[00:54:01] No.
[00:54:02] Hey Si good for you.
[00:54:03] What's the last one he saw?
[00:54:04] Last horror movie?
[00:54:05] Yeah.
[00:54:08] The six cents.
[00:54:08] Gosh I can't even remember the last one.
[00:54:09] Garfield the movie.
[00:54:11] It's been that one.
[00:54:12] Furiosa.
[00:54:13] It's been that one.
[00:54:13] Yeah.
[00:54:14] Furiosa.
[00:54:15] Halloween 3.
[00:54:16] Halloween ends or Halloween 3?
[00:54:18] Halloween 3.
[00:54:20] Really?
[00:54:20] Like 19...
[00:54:20] Season of the Witch?
[00:54:21] Season of the Witch.
[00:54:22] Oh wow.
[00:54:23] Season of the Witch.
[00:54:23] Okay okay.
[00:54:24] I was very enamored by it.
[00:54:25] I like the cut of your chip buddy.
[00:54:27] Good.
[00:54:28] Ask Nate what's the last horror movie he saw.
[00:54:31] Gravity.
[00:54:32] It's scary.
[00:54:33] Is it a letter screen?
[00:54:34] I'm giving you open water next.
[00:54:38] We saw open water was for sale at the...
[00:54:42] Coach Mantis, LePort, Indiana.
[00:54:44] You can get open water on DVD for the low low price of 20% on $5.99.
[00:54:49] Nobody buys DVDs anymore.
[00:54:51] Shut up Nate!
[00:54:53] First of all...
[00:54:54] Physical media is dead.
[00:54:55] That's not right because it was the lesser one across the street.
[00:55:00] Yeah.
[00:55:01] It wasn't even a Coachman's?
[00:55:02] No not Coachman's.
[00:55:03] I don't think it even has a name.
[00:55:04] Yeah.
[00:55:05] It's just called...
[00:55:06] It's just called Store.
[00:55:07] Get the junk.
[00:55:08] It's called...
[00:55:09] Get the junk!
[00:55:09] I don't know how you make a living...
[00:55:12] Yeah they have way too many tonic bottles in that store.
[00:55:16] That store is called...
[00:55:18] Hello?
[00:55:21] There's no one in the store.
[00:55:22] But you know what?
[00:55:23] Two nice guys were in there just hanging out and when we left they said have an antique of a day.
[00:55:29] That's not a thing.
[00:55:30] But it was because he said it.
[00:55:32] We both kind of looked at each other like is that a good thing or...
[00:55:35] What is that thing?
[00:55:37] Then you guys leave and they look at each other like I think it's catching on.
[00:55:43] Alright Brad's done his two films.
[00:55:46] Ben what did you see?
[00:55:48] I saw half of Fall Guy.
[00:55:50] You saw more than half.
[00:55:51] Yeah I saw about 66% of Fall Guy.
[00:55:53] What'd you think?
[00:55:55] I didn't love it.
[00:55:58] I think that I had bought way into the hype train because of the trailer
[00:56:01] and I was so pumped to see it and I think I was just expecting more.
[00:56:04] They marketed the crap on it.
[00:56:05] I really do think I was...
[00:56:06] I think it's your fault.
[00:56:07] I do.
[00:56:08] I'm not joking.
[00:56:08] I blame myself.
[00:56:09] I think that my expectations were extremely high for this.
[00:56:12] While it was fine I just didn't just love love it.
[00:56:16] But again I haven't seen the third act so I can't even speak to that part.
[00:56:20] So I will watch it again on VOD.
[00:56:22] You didn't love it after the second act.
[00:56:23] You're not going to like the third act either.
[00:56:25] I mean the third act has some fun things.
[00:56:26] What's the last thing that happened that you saw?
[00:56:29] The credits roll.
[00:56:30] No.
[00:56:32] I saw the dumpster in the street spinning.
[00:56:35] Oh so you got a pretty big chunk left.
[00:56:37] Yeah honestly.
[00:56:39] Because when you thought it was almost over it really wasn't.
[00:56:43] Yeah it really did and you do kind of feel it.
[00:56:45] And honestly I don't remember how much of the film...
[00:56:47] I'm saying half but it might have been 40 minutes.
[00:56:50] I think you saw I want to say a little over half.
[00:56:53] So here's my question about...
[00:56:56] This is not a bit.
[00:56:57] Did you guys enjoy...
[00:57:01] Like I just I didn't see a lot of Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling interacting.
[00:57:05] Okay she doesn't do a lot in this film.
[00:57:07] Actually I was talking to one of my friends about this actually.
[00:57:11] Me?
[00:57:12] No.
[00:57:13] And I said friends.
[00:57:14] Oh okay not imaginary friends either.
[00:57:18] Not intimate lovers.
[00:57:20] We think that the movie could have benefited by
[00:57:24] keeping Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling together.
[00:57:26] Yes so he goes off on his own looking for...
[00:57:28] Because they have great chemistry.
[00:57:29] Yeah looking for Fuckleby.
[00:57:31] Right.
[00:57:31] And that part was honestly a little boring to me.
[00:57:33] Yeah.
[00:57:34] Like he's like sleuthing around the apartment and doing something.
[00:57:35] I'm like what is...
[00:57:37] There's some great physical comedy that he does.
[00:57:39] No there's some good stuff that comes with the action but it does...
[00:57:41] But then like...
[00:57:42] Especially Winston Duke in the apartment together.
[00:57:44] But then I love when they have like that phone call you know and like they're...
[00:57:47] They do the split screen thing.
[00:57:48] That's a fun scene.
[00:57:49] Very very fun yeah.
[00:57:50] No I agree.
[00:57:52] I didn't hate it.
[00:57:52] Yeah.
[00:57:53] But I was just like there's something missing about the chemistry because I went to go see
[00:57:57] these two interact and I wasn't...
[00:57:58] And again maybe I'm only halfway through the phone.
[00:58:00] Okay so I will say that in the third act that's where their chemistry I think really
[00:58:04] does ignite.
[00:58:04] So let's yeah we're gonna do this for now and I'm gonna watch half the movie
[00:58:07] and we'll talk about why I don't like it.
[00:58:09] And then what?
[00:58:09] And then I'll watch the rest of it.
[00:58:10] Oh you know what?
[00:58:11] You guys are right.
[00:58:11] It really does pay off.
[00:58:12] Don't you guys think the...
[00:58:13] The movie Memento makes a lot more sense now that I've seen the third act.
[00:58:16] The last act is where their chemistry really comes together.
[00:58:18] I would agree with...
[00:58:19] I at least it enhances it for sure.
[00:58:21] Fair enough.
[00:58:21] Can we spoil something for you or are you totally...
[00:58:24] I'm fine so I...
[00:58:26] You drove all the way here I guess.
[00:58:27] It's just one of the scenes in the trailer of him like talking to her about
[00:58:32] what are you doing after this whatever.
[00:58:33] It's like literally was the end of the movie and like I knew watching it I'm like
[00:58:37] that's gonna be like at the end of the movie and that totally kind of ticked me off.
[00:58:43] So I'm like why would they give away that?
[00:58:45] It's not like they're giving away anything but like you could tell like
[00:58:48] I'm watching movies long enough to know.
[00:58:50] Ryan Gosling doesn't die in this film?
[00:58:52] Not yet.
[00:58:53] I thought he would.
[00:58:53] That wasn't the end in.
[00:58:54] Oh gotcha.
[00:58:55] So it's too bad though.
[00:58:57] Again I'm gonna go back to this one.
[00:58:59] I wish it would have done better because this universe this...
[00:59:02] I just don't trust Brad anymore after he loved Argyle.
[00:59:05] I just I hated that film.
[00:59:06] I liked Argyle.
[00:59:07] I hated it and also I didn't love...
[00:59:09] He didn't like it.
[00:59:09] He said it's the best movie of the year.
[00:59:13] But you had a good time.
[00:59:14] Terrible right?
[00:59:16] I hated it.
[00:59:16] Here's the thing that you don't get.
[00:59:19] Dua Lipa is in Argyle.
[00:59:20] Oh boy.
[00:59:21] Yeah and also...
[00:59:23] Do a better job of making a movie.
[00:59:28] Anyway.
[00:59:29] Well what did you watch?
[00:59:30] Dumb fuck?
[00:59:32] I watched Inspector Gadget.
[00:59:34] I'm not even kidding.
[00:59:34] Okay well you know it's been a fun podcast.
[00:59:38] Thanks guys.
[00:59:38] Ben's not even taking this seriously anymore.
[00:59:40] Ashley's kids were over like Ashley was in the internet plus 500.
[00:59:42] Who's Ashley?
[00:59:43] My girlfriend Ashley.
[00:59:44] Did you even watch your assignment from three weeks ago?
[00:59:47] No!
[00:59:48] You put you watch Inspector fucking Gadget?
[00:59:50] Because I'm with the kids.
[00:59:52] Wait the...
[00:59:53] The Matthew Broderick live action adaptation.
[00:59:56] You know why Brad?
[00:59:56] Because a seven and a ten year old don't want to watch the Iron Claw.
[00:59:59] Hey you know what then at least let them watch the Iron Fucking Giant you idiot.
[01:00:03] Don't let them watch Inspector Gadget.
[01:00:05] They both got to pick a show and that's what he picked.
[01:00:07] Then you tell those fucking kids to shut up.
[01:00:11] Ashley's gonna punch you in the face.
[01:00:13] Oh she's gonna be so mad.
[01:00:14] I'm so afraid of her.
[01:00:15] I can't wait.
[01:00:16] You know what?
[01:00:16] I can't wait.
[01:00:17] I'm so scared.
[01:00:18] Play the clip for it.
[01:00:19] Yeah because I met her today.
[01:00:20] She's a lovely woman and she will fucking hurt you.
[01:00:22] Play the clip for it again because she's gonna be like he's not wrong.
[01:00:24] No.
[01:00:24] Also also rest in peace Dabney Coleman who's in that film.
[01:00:28] Which one's that?
[01:00:30] You know who Dabney Coleman is?
[01:00:32] Are you kidding me?
[01:00:33] I just forgot.
[01:00:34] He's Chief Frank Quimby in that film.
[01:00:37] Oh yeah!
[01:00:38] The guy from 9 to 5.
[01:00:39] Yes.
[01:00:40] Yes.
[01:00:40] Sorry I didn't know his last name.
[01:00:42] You know who Dabney Coleman is?
[01:00:43] He's a big actor that you'd know.
[01:00:45] He's like a famous like 80s sleazebag.
[01:00:48] I know him but I don't know his name.
[01:00:50] Why do you not know his name?
[01:00:52] He's very famous.
[01:00:52] He's one of Goldthrobe's
[01:00:54] First of all his name is Dabney Coleman which is fucking hard to remember.
[01:00:57] Yeah it's such a simple name to forget.
[01:00:59] Yeah and I was just saying you would know it because his name's Dabney.
[01:01:02] Yeah it's not Josh Farts.
[01:01:04] You'd remember that.
[01:01:04] I would.
[01:01:06] If we got to say it was Josh Farts and he spelled it F-A-R-R-T-T-S.
[01:01:10] I'm like yeah that's fucking awesome.
[01:01:11] That's a weird way to spell it.
[01:01:13] It's memorable.
[01:01:14] You know who else did that film?
[01:01:16] 10 to 1 reference Sherri O'Tary.
[01:01:19] Yeah I saw her running from Bad Gadget.
[01:01:21] Badget.
[01:01:24] She's got some veneers that bad Inspector Gadget.
[01:01:26] He's got real chompers.
[01:01:27] Yeah that was pretty.
[01:01:28] Like chiclet chompers.
[01:01:29] So that movie's bad.
[01:01:31] You love this film.
[01:01:32] Oh boy yeah there's a lot going on there.
[01:01:34] You know what was very impressive about this film honestly?
[01:01:37] Nothing.
[01:01:38] The amount of money that they wasted.
[01:01:40] Oh it's a big Disney movie.
[01:01:41] It's insane.
[01:01:43] It was in 1909 this film released a 90 million dollar budget.
[01:01:47] In 1999 dollars that's six billion dollars.
[01:01:50] How much did it make?
[01:01:52] It made it made money.
[01:01:54] 135.
[01:01:55] See I mean they made a sequel starting French Stewart.
[01:01:58] But it went straight to video.
[01:01:59] Had to be yeah straight to video.
[01:02:00] But so like for example in this film at the end of it you know Inspector Gadget's
[01:02:06] flying through the air or whatever and he's got a woman in his arms and they're going
[01:02:10] she's like oh my gosh.
[01:02:11] And she goes watch out for the face and it's a big statue and he hits it and that would
[01:02:14] be enough where like he hits the statue and they fall into some water.
[01:02:17] But instead this huge real set piece he bumps into it and the whole scene is just
[01:02:23] this 30 foot statue crumbling to the ground and the head pops off and goes rolling
[01:02:29] and that's it.
[01:02:30] There's no more action with it but just to build that set piece and destroy that
[01:02:34] that's.
[01:02:35] Was it a real?
[01:02:36] A hundred thousand dollars.
[01:02:37] Was it an actual big statue or was it a miniature?
[01:02:41] Oh that's a good question.
[01:02:43] Yeah because they could have done that with a miniature.
[01:02:44] No and that's fair if they did they did a great job.
[01:02:47] Yeah.
[01:02:47] Because it looked real to me.
[01:02:48] Did you guys did you guys like did you guys like Inspector Gadget as a kid?
[01:02:51] I loved it.
[01:02:52] I love the cartoon.
[01:02:52] I love the cartoon.
[01:02:53] I love seeing the cartoon yeah.
[01:02:55] I would love to see them reimagine this today.
[01:02:58] Like I'd love to see them do something.
[01:02:58] I don't know if I would honestly.
[01:03:00] Really?
[01:03:00] Yeah.
[01:03:01] I just love to see them do something where.
[01:03:03] I just don't know if you can translate what's fun about the cartoon into live
[01:03:06] action and not have it feel silly.
[01:03:08] With the right director I think you could but it needs to be something because my kids
[01:03:12] know nothing about Inspector Gadget and I love that for them all the more reason
[01:03:15] to just let him be in the past.
[01:03:17] No but it's a character that I think needs to live again.
[01:03:19] It's great.
[01:03:20] I loved it.
[01:03:21] Do you do a Dr.
[01:03:22] Claude?
[01:03:22] I'll get you Gadget next time.
[01:03:25] Oh that's pretty good.
[01:03:26] That's good.
[01:03:26] Do you think that Inspector Gadget 2 was the of the end of French Storch movie
[01:03:31] career?
[01:03:32] I'm not sure it ever started.
[01:03:33] The best thing French ever Stewart did was let Chris Catan do a great impression of him
[01:03:42] on Celebrity Jeopardy Saturday Night Live.
[01:03:44] Do you think he's been in anything since?
[01:03:47] I haven't seen him.
[01:03:48] I haven't seen him.
[01:03:49] He was in a movie.
[01:03:53] What is French?
[01:03:54] Here welcome to the corner of the podcast called What is French Stewart Up To These
[01:03:58] Days?
[01:03:59] School days.
[01:03:59] He was in four episodes of the middle.
[01:04:02] He was in two episodes of NCIS.
[01:04:05] Yeah but everyone's on NCIS.
[01:04:07] I was on NCIS.
[01:04:09] I did a four episode arc as a serial killer on NCIS.
[01:04:13] Touchy the serial killer.
[01:04:14] He's not doing anything.
[01:04:15] Mr. B's celebrity roles.
[01:04:19] He's not doing anything.
[01:04:20] What's the last time he acted?
[01:04:22] The middle sounds like.
[01:04:23] No he was in Bob Trevino Likes It.
[01:04:28] That's an Ace Hardware commercial.
[01:04:30] That's an Ace Hardware commercial where he's a riding lawn mower and he goes I'm Bob
[01:04:34] Trevino and I like it.
[01:04:35] That's a soft core porn.
[01:04:37] It's an independent comedy drama starring Barbie Ferrera and John Leguizamo.
[01:04:43] And Jessica Stewart, French Stewart's mom.
[01:04:46] Those are real people though.
[01:04:47] Barbie Ferrera.
[01:04:48] Those are real people.
[01:04:50] Directed by Tracy Layman.
[01:04:54] She directed.
[01:04:55] Waves World.
[01:04:57] No stuff you haven't heard of.
[01:04:58] Ghosted, mixed signals, goodnight Burbank.
[01:05:01] Love goodnight Burbank.
[01:05:02] No you don't.
[01:05:03] Timeless.
[01:05:04] And then he was in a film called Queen Bee's.
[01:05:08] Which is.
[01:05:08] Was it the sequel to the Beeblebee?
[01:05:10] Starring Ellen Bernstein, James Cahn and Margaret.
[01:05:13] So a young cast.
[01:05:15] Christopher Lloyd.
[01:05:17] I'm still a young cast.
[01:05:20] James Cahn post mortem.
[01:05:23] And then this is in 2021.
[01:05:25] And then in.
[01:05:27] Geez Louise, he is not in a lot.
[01:05:32] Bob Terwilliger does what?
[01:05:33] A show called Will Trent.
[01:05:34] Have you heard of this?
[01:05:35] Yeah that's new isn't it?
[01:05:37] Yeah he did three episodes.
[01:05:41] I'm French Stewart.
[01:05:42] But yeah no he's not doing a lot.
[01:05:44] He had his height in the 90s.
[01:05:46] Well he was never very tall but.
[01:05:48] He's living off that third rock from the third rock from the sun money.
[01:05:51] Yeah.
[01:05:51] So when are you gonna watch The Iron Claw Ben?
[01:05:54] I guess I'll watch it this week.
[01:05:55] Honestly you know we onboarded a new general manager at the arcade.
[01:05:58] And that has been taking up about the last two months of my life.
[01:06:01] And so I'm very, very happy.
[01:06:02] And I am excited to get back to my having my weekends.
[01:06:06] Oh cool we're done talking about business?
[01:06:09] You know can I talk to you over here real quick?
[01:06:11] Yeah go ahead.
[01:06:12] No the side cam on the show.
[01:06:13] Hey guys what's going on?
[01:06:14] Oh wait wake up I'm talking to you.
[01:06:16] What are you guys talking about?
[01:06:18] Hey we'll be with you in a minute.
[01:06:19] Okay.
[01:06:19] So I came on the show and you gave him a really
[01:06:22] pizza for whatever reason.
[01:06:24] Hold on one second.
[01:06:25] Syed did you love the Orellios pizza?
[01:06:27] Yes yes I did.
[01:06:28] All thirty two dollars for one large single topping.
[01:06:31] Having said that.
[01:06:32] Thirty three outrageously priced but we're all pretty full.
[01:06:36] And we have a pizza and there's more of that.
[01:06:38] Thirty two dollars.
[01:06:40] You know why because you pay for quality.
[01:06:42] Cheese and pepperoni pizza.
[01:06:43] You pay for top quality.
[01:06:44] I am and you know me I'm not one to argue price.
[01:06:47] I think that things should cost money because you need people pay people a living wage.
[01:06:51] It's just because you're used to getting like five pizzas from Domino's.
[01:06:55] They're a nickel apiece.
[01:06:57] Fun fact.
[01:06:58] Orellios pizza made from horse milk.
[01:07:02] That's why it's so expensive.
[01:07:03] And that's why it's so good.
[01:07:04] So actual fact mare milk.
[01:07:08] Okay.
[01:07:08] Is known as mares to feed the foals is rich in protein, poly unsaturated fatty acids and
[01:07:16] vitamin C.
[01:07:17] Yep if there's one thing we knew was in horse milk it was protein.
[01:07:21] Several European countries including Germany it is sold powdered.
[01:07:25] It's sometimes chosen over cow milk for its health benefits.
[01:07:29] Nate you're onto something here.
[01:07:30] Mare milk.
[01:07:31] Yeah it can be used as cosmetics to make cosmetics and can form cheese with camel
[01:07:37] rennet but not bovine.
[01:07:39] No it's going too far I think.
[01:07:40] So that's yeah.
[01:07:41] Yeah a little down the horse hole.
[01:07:44] By the way my girlfriend Eveline told me.
[01:07:48] Oh boy.
[01:07:49] This is almost almost worse than my girlfriend Brittany right now because I'm already annoyed
[01:07:54] by this.
[01:07:55] But the difference is I think like Nate's going to have his way to stay in my girlfriend
[01:07:58] to make sure everyone knows he has a girlfriend.
[01:08:00] And she's resilient.
[01:08:01] But then but here's the thing is she's told me that they're now selling like
[01:08:09] human breast milk ice cream.
[01:08:12] Would you eat that?
[01:08:13] No.
[01:08:15] And I love milk and I love breast.
[01:08:19] And you like ice cream.
[01:08:20] Yeah so it's a weird position for me to take but hard path.
[01:08:25] Nature's own vanilla.
[01:08:27] That is a weird three things.
[01:08:31] I love ice cream.
[01:08:32] I love titties and I love milk and I ain't no way I'm having that ice cream.
[01:08:38] I would much rather have Mare's milk ice cream for sure.
[01:08:42] Mare's milk is the new French Stewart movie actually.
[01:08:45] That's so funny because I would not have that either.
[01:08:46] I would not.
[01:08:47] I know how much Brad loves boobs.
[01:08:52] I thought you were going to say milk because I know how much this idiot fucking truly loves
[01:08:57] milk.
[01:08:57] That's true too.
[01:08:59] Have you ever watched anything else Ben?
[01:09:03] Fuck you no.
[01:09:07] We're going to get back on track people we promise.
[01:09:09] No actually I watched the Bourne Ultimatum.
[01:09:12] I did yeah I watched that and then I also watched the first half of John Wick because
[01:09:20] Ashley's never seen it so we actually had about an hour together and I threw it on.
[01:09:25] So we're going to finish that one too.
[01:09:28] I have a couple questions about Ryan Gosling if you guys want to answer these.
[01:09:32] Okay.
[01:09:33] Yes.
[01:09:33] Are these trivia questions or things you're curious about?
[01:09:38] Are these trivia questions?
[01:09:40] Are you curious about trivia questions?
[01:09:42] Yeah I got a game.
[01:09:44] They're not a ton.
[01:09:44] I've got like seven or eight.
[01:09:46] Did you just write a game right now?
[01:09:49] While you were listening to our dumb stories?
[01:09:51] I wasn't listening.
[01:09:53] So let's do a buzzer okay Ben give me a buzzer.
[01:09:58] Fleeble.
[01:10:00] Brad.
[01:10:01] Tongue.
[01:10:02] Si.
[01:10:03] Oh that's a good one okay all right these are questions about Ryan Gosling because I'm
[01:10:07] he doesn't have to do a song though I'm kind of a it's not really a proper game either
[01:10:11] no it's just kind of just a question I feel I feel uncomfortable
[01:10:15] your nipples are again can you do like just a quick song just a real quick one
[01:10:18] no it's nice size here no but you do the songs
[01:10:21] like when you come out of the game you know but our listeners don't want me to
[01:10:24] do something they want you to do so I think if he's here it's a guest you're part of the
[01:10:28] the background of our podcast as well you know our listeners won't bend to the songs
[01:10:33] correct yeah and if you're pushing hard then you're going to be the one to do it
[01:10:36] yep all right what's the first question
[01:10:41] just create a song about Ryan Gosling
[01:10:45] oh baby goose you are my Gosling oh baby goose my one desire
[01:10:54] oh baby goose I would love to lay next to you in Antarctica or by the fire
[01:11:02] it's a weird erection you have right now yeah my nipples my pepperoni nipples have
[01:11:05] turned into hard sausages he didn't really get into like just a deep ballad there though
[01:11:09] pretty sexy you're welcome all you all you listeners that are not wet while driving
[01:11:13] all right if you know the answers to these questions spilled your coffee
[01:11:17] as you wrecked your car if you know the answers to these questions then you do your
[01:11:22] flea bowl yep all right here we go in which disney channel show did Ryan Gosling

[01:12:12] yeah yeah I thought even Mendez was in there with him no no she doesn't act in it like they had
[01:12:16] kids yeah she's been movies oh excuse me excuse me I don't know when the stop date on even
[01:12:22] Mendez's career was I heard I women can do anything even if they have kids guys I'm not
[01:12:27] gonna lie I have a big crush on Eva Mendez she's she's a babe does do people want you to
[01:12:33] lie about that no just have you been asked to lie about I've been lying a lot in this

[01:13:09] what the fuck is this movie a lot of people that's how spicy you don't know this film
[01:13:16] and then I'll give you the rating rotten tomatoes because that'll give you the
[01:13:20] perfect yeah um this had a 78 percent of rotten tomatoes oh yep you know this film who directed
[01:13:27] this um Derek Cian Prince oh it's too fast too furious Tong yep the place beyond the pines
[01:13:36] yeah did you see this yeah was it good yeah it's pretty good okay sounds like a ringing
[01:13:41] endorsement that's he started with Eva Mendez and then she had one more film and she quit
[01:13:47] and raised her family and she quit and she quit what was Ryan Gosling's first film role
[01:14:02] go ahead buddy gun was it remember the titans no close that was a good guess
[01:14:07] that's the guess I had it's a good guess yeah I don't know what it is
[01:14:13] I got no idea Ben no go ahead guess north
[01:14:15] um he's not a bad guess he's not Elijah Wood no you played Elijah was friend south there's
[01:14:21] a lot of kids in north um he no the film was the believer oh it's a jesus movie is that right
[01:14:30] I don't know no it's a uh I'm pretty sure it's a uh a nazi movie actually yeah actually
[01:14:35] you're right uh not like in support of okay I was gonna say rank as his first film role
[01:14:40] was as a jewish neo-nazi and the believer this role marks his transition from child actor to
[01:14:45] adult roles it's a hell of a movie that's a pretty big launch pad all right which film
[01:14:51] was Ryan Gosling first nominated for the academy award for best actor flea bowl yeah wait are you
[01:15:00] asking me oh are you telling me oh drive no I don't think drive got a single listen I don't
[01:15:08] know movies I don't know movies it's time to put myself out there to fill time so that you guys
[01:15:15] can actually think about a real answer yeah that's why you did not because you just got an itchy
[01:15:19] trigger finger it's which is um Tong yep uh lala land no shit wait let me let me give you
[01:15:34] uh sigh let me give you an extra hint for this one yeah um he played a teacher who befriends
[01:15:39] a student as a teacher who befriended students oh I know what this is no come on sigh gosh
[01:15:46] you're a teacher who's I know plenty of students I don't know that's that's bad okay
[01:15:52] right it's called half nelson correct I didn't realize you get that many friends asking for
[01:15:55] that yeah did you like that film or no uh I honestly don't remember a lot about it
[01:16:00] well he plays a teacher who befriends a student oh it's a 2006 film uh directed by ryan fleck
[01:16:06] starring ryan gosselin and anthony mackie uh anything like he plays a local drug dealer
[01:16:15] and I don't remember this film but I know I saw it but it's 91% on yeah I don't I haven't
[01:16:20] seen it since I saw it so um Anthony Mackay eyes I saw him at a con once it was a long
[01:16:26] time ago I said so what's the deal are you just gonna be captain america he's like that's the
[01:16:30] plan I was like years before it that's nice yeah by the way that sounds very much like an
[01:16:35] anthony mackie response like that's the plan that's all he would say he doesn't seem like
[01:16:39] a guy with a lot of responses all right um like a lot of response summed up a whole human being
[01:16:49] in his entire outlook on life and who he is as a person I've got strong opinions on
[01:16:53] Anthony Mackie all right wow what did Anthony Mackie do to you did he run over your dog did
[01:16:58] you want to be captain america another podcast all right what rank which podcast are you
[01:17:03] talking about it on you can come online we can what uh falcon in the winter of my discontent
[01:17:09] starring nate laux more like fuck him in the winter soldier what movie had ryan gosselin playing
[01:17:16] michelle williams husband are you asking or telling me that's my buzzer I know but
[01:17:29] he's wondering about the inflection blue valentine yeah did you guys see this film
[01:17:32] yes it is depressing as fuck would I like this oh yeah it'll rip your fucking heart out
[01:17:41] I did not say this one have you seen this no I have not is it a good film
[01:17:45] yeah it's a very good the both the both their performances are amazing in it is it uh which
[01:17:49] is sadder this or manchester I think it's all I think it's also directed by derek c in France
[01:17:53] they're sad for different it is correct yeah what it is like a 90 percent of rotten tomatoes
[01:17:58] as well it's a sadder or after yang oh also two different kinds of sad um is this a third
[01:18:06] kind of sad sorry what is the saddest film you've seen like what are what are some really
[01:18:10] sad films that you maybe get emotional during for me every film is an emotional
[01:18:16] film for me wow this is just an opportunity for him to talk about how sad he gets so
[01:18:20] so are we talking sad or like emotional or like or like just like it's just painful sad
[01:18:26] painful oh like just it wrecks your heart well like I mean field of dreams for me is my
[01:18:32] my favorite is that gets you emotionally oh yeah it gets me emotionally yeah what is it
[01:18:37] it's like just like the you know the nostalgia of the film nostalgia at the end yeah playing
[01:18:42] catch with your dad yeah any other films that get you oh man I'm sure I'll have to think about
[01:18:49] it yeah but yeah we'll talk about most things I think once I had a child I think everything
[01:18:54] became more emotional yeah everything is ratcheted up yeah I feel you yeah
[01:18:59] yeah Brad got a cat and he feels the same way but he's my child all right uh here we go
[01:19:07] what Ryan Gosling film had him as a playboy helping a divorced friend back yep
[01:19:17] hold on shit tong damn it I know this one I know I actually know this one
[01:19:26] so it's the I can see the title hold on hold on hold on let's be let's be
[01:19:33] let's not even close let's let's say it's so no no crazy stupid love shit correct do you
[01:19:38] guys like that film yes love it how long has he been half of it yeah how many tornado tornado
[01:19:44] got me I love that film it's so funny it's so good it is Steve Carrell and him have such
[01:19:49] great chemistry Emma Stone yeah what are you photoshopped it's a great life I know it's a
[01:19:55] wonderful rom-com if you've not seen this film see the film it's so good yeah and it's often
[01:19:59] on like netflix and stuff yeah it's on services now so it's often on netflix all right uh I think
[01:20:08] this is the final one um in which movie often on which ryan gosselin film was set in the 1970s
[01:20:17] Tom the nice guy one of my favorite ryan gosselin films yes you know who wrote that
[01:20:24] that's the movie if you haven't seen the nice guys go out of your way and enjoy it I showed my mom
[01:20:29] that movie and she loved it it is the film when people say oh you like to watch films what films
[01:20:34] should I watch it is almost always at the top of the list of the films I think people should
[01:20:37] watch because it's accessible like it is anybody could watch this film and have fun it's also
[01:20:43] it's so good it's so good it's so good it's so good it's so good it's so good it's so
[01:20:49] like it is anybody could watch this film and have fun it's also there's there's a little bit of
[01:20:55] artsyness to it's just a fun film there's like there's like stakes but it's not
[01:21:00] it's not super dramatic stakes it's definitely funny you know this film is fantastic what it
[01:21:07] is in my top 25 films oh wow okay it is so much fun for me I love I genuinely love this
[01:21:14] film yeah it's great Russell Crowe is also great in this a chubby Russell Crowe is really fun in
[01:21:20] this chubby Russell Crowe is my favorite uh and also uh the girl from spider-man's in this what
[01:21:25] she's really young in this but uh Andri Rice yeah plays Ryan Gosling's daughter um really good
[01:21:31] so Margaret Qualey is also yes she is you're right so good eye um fun film so um I'm gonna
[01:21:38] give Brad this game you did well actually I'm gonna give you to your side because you're
[01:21:42] thank you good job not to you Ben you're a piece of shit it's the reverse fair enough uh Ben would
[01:21:47] you like to do a trailer song no I did the game song no but I've earned the right to sit this
[01:21:52] one out I've earned the right I've earned the right and I am I am following our lives don't
[01:21:59] push the microwave because you might want to join in on this one I'll I'll say yeah all
[01:22:03] right here come the trailers we're watching trailers here come the trailers
[01:22:20] next time next time you know what's the dr claw is venom I am
[01:22:27] Eddie Eddie let's eat some people uh it's trailer time yeah we're gonna talk about two new trailers
[01:22:35] that just came out last week we're fresh on the scene with these trailers uh the first one we're
[01:22:41] going to talk about is the second trailer for a movie that we have talked about the teaser
[01:22:45] trailer for and that is beetle juice beetle juice twice the beetle juice twice the fun um
[01:22:51] and what do you guys think about this trailer
[01:22:54] sigh we'll start with you so I watched it a few times I think I liked it better each time
[01:23:00] because at first I'm like this movie does not look great I do like the practical effects
[01:23:07] but I just don't know Justin Thro's character kind of it's it's so hard to read sigh I just
[01:23:13] realized this I thought he was gonna say I watched his trailer a couple times and every
[01:23:17] time I watched it it just got better and better I think I'm on board now I'm not putting a lot
[01:23:24] of money into this one that it's gonna be great but I'm excited I am I'm gonna say this
[01:23:30] 100% with sigh um because wait now I can't tell are you excited about it or no I'm not
[01:23:36] excited about this I'm hopeful kind of excited I know I'm coming around what is going on right
[01:23:41] now I'm more hopeful than excited I don't know if you like it or not I'm hopeful for
[01:23:45] it but I'm not excited about it because I just this doesn't look as enticing to me there's
[01:23:49] nothing that this film seems to be doing other than revisiting a universe that was really well
[01:23:55] done in the first film that doesn't seem to be adding to it so if you're revisiting the
[01:24:00] universe that's fine but what are you going to do is this going to be like the all-female
[01:24:04] version of Ghostbusters right where you're revisiting the Ghostbusters universe but you're
[01:24:09] not really adding to it it'll be fine but it won't be great I just have one question where
[01:24:13] is Jeffrey Jones dead oh the character oh Jeffrey Jones still alive how's the actor
[01:24:20] the one thing I really what no way on what I don't want to ruin it you can oh what happened
[01:24:26] to him after Ferris Bueller's day off he uh nine times they never said how many times but
[01:24:33] he oh yeah I did some stuff with the kids nine times just in the movie no no no listen
[01:24:40] if you want to know okay where Jeffrey Jones is yep I do check the California Department of
[01:24:45] Justice National Sex Offender database did you know that Sy yeah yeah oh yeah oh yeah um so I
[01:24:57] I think this is a very poorly cut trailer first of all um for for a theatrical trailer it
[01:25:03] doesn't really give you a sense of the story it kind of just says hey Beetlejuice is back
[01:25:07] member all the things yeah okay and then like it introduces new characters without really giving
[01:25:12] you any context like I love seeing Monica Bellucci looking like Sally from Night Before
[01:25:16] Christmas freaking sexy Sally from Night Before Christmas I like seeing Willem Dafoe with like
[01:25:21] that weird face exposed makeup on I didn't know that Monica Bellucci almost 60 years old
[01:25:26] I did not I didn't know that I had a thing for women with zippers on their faces and
[01:25:30] their stitches um yeah I I like the stop motion style effects I like the I like the look of Tim
[01:25:38] Burns universe coming back but I haven't seen anything that like makes this movie feel like
[01:25:42] necessary or gets me interested that's a that's the right word yeah what is what is necessary
[01:25:47] about this so uh what's the young lady's name Jenna Ortega Jenna Ortega uh so do you think in
[01:25:53] this version when uh Wynonna Ryder's character says don't say his name because this is 2024 and
[01:26:02] this is kind of how kids are yeah Beetlejuice Beetlejuice like I'm gonna like I'm not gonna
[01:26:06] listen to my mom I'm just gonna say it like I just don't think she believes yeah it leaves
[01:26:09] it at all and so she does it just because like yeah define my mom and whatever yeah kids
[01:26:14] today man they don't they don't understand this hair at Beetlejuice they'll listen I guarantee
[01:26:18] you a bunch of tiktokers would do it I will say Michael Michael Keaton looks great he'll be
[01:26:23] I'll have fun oh yeah oh he's gonna be the best part for sure but it just doesn't seem to be
[01:26:28] necessary to me yet there's nothing about this trailer that made me think that this film's
[01:26:32] necessary yeah I didn't see Dick Cavett either I think that's he's dead yeah he's not dead
[01:26:39] oh I hate to be the one to break this oh he's not dead Robert Goulet is definitely dead
[01:26:52] but yeah I don't uh yeah I just I don't know we'll see like I'm I would love for this to
[01:26:56] turn out to be fun of course yeah yeah but yeah I haven't seen anything that came into
[01:26:59] I think it's gonna be great well you won't go see in theaters anyway so yeah I can't wait
[01:27:05] for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice there'll be a third one I do love Catherine O'Hara
[01:27:20] speaking of sequels that I'm betting we're not excited about I would actually say I'm more
[01:27:27] excited about this than I am for Beetlejuice honestly and because this trailer convinced me
[01:27:30] it looks like an action movie yeah Beverly Hills Cop Axl F which first of all terrible
[01:27:35] fucking title and Eddie Murphy is back as Axl Foley and he's back in Beverly Hills
[01:27:40] and he's getting into shenanigans this isn't his first rodeo drive shut the fuck up what you
[01:27:46] try to make that joke while we watch the trailer was bad then it's bad now it's not
[01:27:50] it's not bad would you would you prefer like a Axl AF like an Axl like what could they
[01:27:57] Beverly Hills Cop Axl AF Beverly Beverly Hills Cop here we come fam yeah what yeah let's just
[01:28:03] give it a cool uh cool like title for the kids today at Beverly Hills Cop no cap
[01:28:12] Beverly Hills Cop the Rizzler yeah there you go I do think there a couple of scenes I feel
[01:28:18] like are going to be in the very end of the movie oh really from that yeah like what
[01:28:22] um when they're in the snowplow in LA and like Judge Reinhold's obviously been rescued and
[01:28:31] because he's all beat up yeah yeah that's fair I think that's the opening scene the thing that
[01:28:34] I think we all need to be celebrating though in this film is Judge Reinhold the return of
[01:28:39] Joseph Gordon-Levitt the return of Thomas Ian Nichols no no no no no Nicholas the return
[01:28:44] just like he does yeah you're right actually it doesn't look like Thomas the return of
[01:28:48] Bronson Pinchot yeah this is a Bronson Pinchot movie this is a yeah a Bronson Pinchot well
[01:28:54] ah well uh no I I was actually impressed by the trailer I think it looks like a fun action comedy
[01:29:01] as somebody who doesn't necessarily have like a strong affinity for the Beverly Hills Cop movies
[01:29:05] like this it just looks like fun to me we talked about this previously where you know I
[01:29:10] thought that the Beverly Hills Cop the series was funnier than than the lethal weapon series
[01:29:15] I retract that did you re-watch recently I saw I just I retract it's just you know no no no
[01:29:22] go on why you need to start listening to Brad and I oh I watched a few clips online of Beverly
[01:29:29] Hills Cop or Lethal Weapon Beverly Hills Cop okay and I just I because I was just on YouTube
[01:29:33] and I was like fuck it and so I just let up like you know funniest scenes yeah yeah there's
[01:29:38] there's really not many there's really not many yeah it's just it's the first one there's
[01:29:42] it's the fish out all our stuff and it's amusing because Eddie Murphy and he's very good
[01:29:46] at it yeah he's being you know a smart alec and entertaining but yeah it's not laugh a lot funny
[01:29:50] and the chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover really brings like some genuine laughs
[01:29:56] yeah honest question where's Joseph Gordon love it been I mean he was kind of almost
[01:30:03] he's a jv leading man right like he's almost the leading man and he was really building
[01:30:08] a career to be a leading man I feel like he kind of diminished a little bit I think
[01:30:12] he took a step back for whatever reason I don't know if it's because of like family stuff or if
[01:30:16] he felt you didn't get me to you sure and I feel like he kind of like took a little bit of a
[01:30:21] break but have you seen the the Apple TV plus movie flora and son no I saw him has seen that
[01:30:26] but I want to you should you would love it a lot um it's very good he's in that I might
[01:30:30] assign it to you um but yeah it's very very good we don't watch movies by assignment anymore
[01:30:34] he has well you don't um he has a key role in that and it's very good from the door and he
[01:30:39] also has it seems like he's starting to rebuild some things he's in this he's in a film called
[01:30:45] greedy people which is uh uh upcoming comedy mystery film starring him Lily James uh Himmish
[01:30:53] Patel Tim Blake Nelson lots of people and then um he's also in another film called Killer Heat
[01:31:00] how do you feel about Beverly Hills Club Cy are you on board are you interested I'm on board
[01:31:04] a lot I got covered this year and I sat in bed and watched like 25 movies or something in a few
[01:31:09] days so I watched I'm just jealous of that I don't care if you were almost dead man just
[01:31:19] being able to watch 25 fucking films like get out of here it was amazing I mean that's lucky
[01:31:23] too because like when I had COVID I couldn't even stay awake to watch movies yeah it was
[01:31:27] very good for you so I watched all three actually I like three wow wow I know right
[01:31:33] third one is like almost universally hated I know I think maybe that's why I'm like okay
[01:31:37] such low expectations is it because you're such a big Brett Ratner fan absolutely Ben loves Brett
[01:31:44] Ratner I was just saying who's Bert Ratner that's that's Rhett Butler's friend hey getting
[01:31:51] back to Bronson Pinchot I said no one ever Bronson Pinchot's agent hasn't said that let
[01:31:59] me tell you I met him last year oh it was the year before this but yeah he and Marklin Baker stars
[01:32:04] of Perfect Strangers yeah yeah Bronson Pinchot he was something else wasn't unique yeah he's
[01:32:13] unique yeah he was like he looked fantastic like he he was seeing everything yeah he didn't look
[01:32:18] fantastic in the trailer he looks like Bronson Pinchot ate Bronson Pinchot really that's it
[01:32:23] yeah he gained some weight I'm telling you that's not I'm telling that he's he's 65
[01:32:29] he's one of the best 65 year olds I've ever seen I'm telling you what happened in this
[01:32:33] trailer I'll show you a picture later here's the thing you think you're as fit as you were
[01:32:37] 20 years ago I'm better he's 65 you're butter yeah that's what I'm saying so
[01:32:43] looks great right yeah for 65 he looks awesome okay okay
[01:32:48] okay good god you were just so fucking defensive about Bronson Pinchot yeah you know what he looks
[01:32:55] fucking great yeah great what'd he do to you nothing I don't care so leave him alone good
[01:33:03] now listen I know it's a movie podcast but Perfect Strangers was based in Chicago so yeah
[01:33:09] cool was it highly revered like around here I love it I mean yeah I was more of a
