Ben, Brad, and Nate have arrived in 2024, and they come bearing movies they watched over the break! Actually, they ended up not watching very many movies, and Brad had a very measured reaction to this, especially since he didn't watch many movies himself, and he respects Ben and Nate deep in his bones. Nate still hasn't watched Looper, Ben caught a documentary about a bitcoin scam, and Brad watched stuff like BlackBerry and Disney's Treasure Planet. Come with us as we review the trailers for Kung Fu Panda (SKA-DOES NOT LOOK GREAT!) and Alex Garland's Civil War (MASS HYSTERIA!). Plus, listen to some of the movies coming in 2024 that we're really excited about! Pump your ears full of our sound gas!

[00:00:00] Hey everybody, go flix yourself Hey everybody it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself My name is Ben Conowitz and with me as always is the Oscar the Grouch to my big bird Bradford Oman Hey that's me, my Oscar the Grouch Scram That's what he says
[00:00:35] Does he say scram? Yeah he says scram a lot Oh yeah that's like the thing he says Is it? Also I love trash Yeah but he sings that too That's true And the snuffle up against my big bird Nate Laughes
[00:00:48] Hey guys I don't know what stuff a lupagus sounds like He doesn't sound that goofy, he's a little more like this A little more like falorn A little bit more eore Hi guys Yeah that's kinda Is it really coming down on that?
[00:01:01] Hey listen if you're gonna do Sesame Street impression just fucking get it right okay I mean your Oscar wasn't great Yeah fuck you Now there's the Grouch Yeah exactly That's what it is Elmo's gonna slit your throat Hey guys happy new year
[00:01:18] Did you guys make any new years resolutions? Fuck no Yes No no I did Did you really? What is it? I mean me and my fiance Brittany we did a thing on New Year's Eve because she was still in Texas
[00:01:37] So we didn't kiss but no we talked about stuff that we wanted to make happen this year and just things you know obviously we want to be able to live together soon and just work on certain relationship
[00:01:45] So your goal is to be living together permanently this year at some point Yeah hopefully that's what we would like to have happen Alright I mean we say hopefully tacked on the end doesn't really sound like a resolution
[00:01:55] Oh no it's because I'm logical and I just want to make sure that I don't leave any holes open to disappoint myself Alright I just want to make sure there's a way out so I don't have to do this Cause life is disappointing and awful
[00:02:04] Everyday life is a Going to it knowing Everyday is harder than the last We are on an eventual darkness walkthrough in pending doom I tell you what we live in Northwest Indiana and from like November to Let's just say from now from today from now
[00:02:21] Cause it's like a It's just a permanent cloud And it's been awful But here's the thing it was doing pretty well up until like just before Christmas And then all of a sudden it was like nope fuck off
[00:02:33] And then we had that one day with son and I'm like oh oh my depression is just lifting So what about you Benny did you make any resolution Yeah no I mean I always make too many you know and then some of mistake like for those
[00:02:45] of you that don't know this I from the years of when I was 19 up until I was 29 years old I chewed tobacco Oh really you're a you're a you're a chaw guy I was a chaw I was a can a day This is disgusting It is so gross
[00:03:03] Skoal mint Oh my gosh You are disgusting I know and then So you're just picking it back up That's the resolution is to start again I'm gonna get back to chewing tobacco I miss it And then like leaving bottles everywhere that you don't know has
[00:03:21] Spitting in a couple of paper towels in them Yep as we do in Indiana So yeah I made a I made a New Year's bet with my friend Keith Ross back when I was 29 years
[00:03:34] old which was now that's 13 years ago to the first one to break and start chewing again had to pay the other one $400 and so April 1st came and he said okay well we made it
[00:03:49] till April and I was like okay and he's like yeah that was the bet so I chewed today and I was like was there a date there no he remembers it differently he remembers that
[00:03:59] we bet that if by April 1st why would you do April 1st why just an arbitrary date exactly and that's why I said I think you're lying I think you just really miss it you want to
[00:04:07] go back and you don't want to pay me $400 I kept it up I just I never I never took a this when you're 29 when I was 29 I never took a dip ever again from that so that
[00:04:17] was a New Year's resolution and a bet but it worked and so now I ever since then I give myself a bunch of resolution as you bet this year to not chew again it's going really good no I want to I want to physically read 52 books this year
[00:04:34] did you know that they make them on tape now see I'm not gonna do that this time and I tried doing it last time also I actually don't think they do make them
[00:04:42] on tape I've been to the cracker bro I listened to one vinyl no I want to make a habit of sitting down and physically reading after work like I want to get home and crack open a book and read a chapter a day basically or
[00:04:56] something like that so I am I'm about halfway through Arnold Schwarzenegger's book be useful and I realized that it's already what is today the eighth seventh so today's my last day so maybe after this podcast I'll have to finish
[00:05:09] the book and ice but yeah that's the love in it the book yes great I love no you love the armled this is like wow I love it how about you Nate did you make any resolutions yeah I
[00:05:21] mean goals I mean like challenges things you want to do kind of like it's not like I'm trying to usually resolutions are like I want to lose weight well I did that last year like by the way of listener Nate Laux has lost and we did
[00:05:35] this beating Ben challenge which everybody did how much weight did you lose well in the challenge I lost close to 50 yeah 47 but since since since May I've lost 77 pounds so you're looking great yeah divorce and depression will do
[00:05:56] that yeah but see a lot of people get divorced and depressed or let's say breakup with a longtime girlfriend and they just turned to alcohol and dominoes some of us do that some of us like Nate Laux playing dominoes or ordering
[00:06:08] both and mahjong those mahjong wings from dominoes oh yeah what a great orange chicken I would try those right now so yeah no but I'm really proud of you man you crushed it thanks so this is a year of kind of reclaiming
[00:06:26] interests and my kids are getting older they don't like you know they're becoming teenagers so my involvement with them is is still obviously strong but like they don't want to hang out with me as much sure my daughter but now
[00:06:40] that you've lost weight they're like wow I can finally be seen in public seriously dead seven you're not embarrassed now wearing those belly t-shirts anymore I think I'm gonna try to maybe try out for a community theater project on the
[00:06:54] stage maybe we'll see I love it man good for you and listener you know hey if you get a resolution keep it to yourself this is our show and then you know we're not really doing these things Brad's really not gonna move in
[00:07:07] with you know Brittany oh yeah I don't know how to read I know I'm not doing that this is a new year's resolution podcast we do it once a year go change yourself thanks thanks for tuning in and we'll be back next year this is a
[00:07:23] movie podcast believe it or not where we talk about the latest movies we've seen and talk about trailers now I think the last episode Ben promised that the next episode would be a big game episode but as you can see he failed that
[00:07:35] was a resolution yeah and he did not go so we're going for the top no so what we're gonna do is we've decided that we do want to have some of our favorite
[00:07:45] guests all on the show at once so this will be a bit of a logistical thing where we'd have to reach out to we want to do it right we'll get a big deal so what we want to do is just kind of have a peanut gallery with
[00:07:55] everybody and then kind of bring in guest after guest and like play a game with each cast just kind of recap you know the latest the last hundred episodes yeah let's say if you've been on the show and you're sitting out of
[00:08:05] thinking man am I gonna be on thing stay to your phone because you're gonna get a phone call or not or you won't get a phone yeah so it's but yeah who knows just don't hold any grudges and you keep in mind this is all Brad has the
[00:08:16] final say do you know do they have cell phones in New Zealand yet Mitch we need you to come back to America Mitch if you don't come back for the 200 episode your debt don't ever call us don't don't telegraph but yeah so
[00:08:32] this is a podcast we're getting back into into the groove again you know it's it's 2024 and there it is yeah it's just yes I don't know why it's so funny it is yeah I know what are you chocolate at 21st 2024 yeah it's it's not like
[00:08:47] the first day of the year here people have been living this shit for a week yeah there were two dozen years into 20 what yeah 20 that's how it works I guess two dozen years into it that's what I'm saying anyway hey 2k plus 2 4 yeah
[00:08:59] in the new year do we have a new sponsor but you know I'm glad you asked man you've been hustling you've been hustling lately trying to find the sponsor I have been doing door-to-door pitches trying to get the hottest
[00:09:11] snacks and drinks on this knock on people's doors daily what unique snack could you give me and also pay me it's not really knocking cuz a lot of people have like ring doorbells and stuff there so I'm going up and I'm
[00:09:22] pushing buttons yeah Brad pushes a lot of buttons well some of it is also just to going and standing outside of like the headquarters for like you know Nestle and General Mills and they're like we
[00:09:34] called security again but I got him okay what do we got well you know Ben let me ask you something you know what can this be the resolution can you just make a resolution not to open up the sponsor like that here's the
[00:09:47] thing as much as I love making resolutions I have no intention of keeping no where's gonna give a hard to know what's your favorite cold January memory first week of January memory but nice and snug in the winter time memory button knows memory what we do it
[00:10:20] life there's also like a slight Mike Myers character to it too well let me know this isn't my whole life is your favorite cheesy snack oh craft macaroni and cheese no cheesy snack that's a meal I'll just a whole box of craft macaroni and cheese
[00:10:46] okay well you get the small little the small little bowl easy Mac you go to hell with I don't know you know what I like the Ritz cracker thingies with the cheese in the middle oh okay fair enough how do you feel about those
[00:11:01] Nate they're fine but cheetos I like cheetos cheetos cheetos a top notch that is that is an excellent choice nacho cheese Doritos is also up there yep love Doritos yeah the fact you didn't pick those Ben you're fucking idiot do you
[00:11:12] like do you like the cheeto or the Dorito better it depends yeah it depends on what my mood is that day now are you a crunchy cheeto guy I like oh my god
[00:11:21] crunchy I want like the crunch I so I prefer not a huge puff fan I prefer the cheetos crunch for the most part but every now and then I'm in the mood for the cheetos puffs because though the way the cheese seasoning on the puffs it's
[00:11:35] a little bit different it's just there's a lot of air in those puffs it's true guys remember how I said I wasn't drinking tonight let's just put a drive to the liquor store Nate I got a treat that you I think actually requested
[00:11:49] yeah you saw it online I do I request things on Brad if I request things out of Brad Schunk yeah and you saw this before I had actually posted on Brad Schunk and I was like oh I haven't seen them yet but you know I brought them
[00:12:01] to you you you why so I had already seen them but I hadn't posted me because I hadn't personally seen them in the store okay but when I saw I was like oh yeah
[00:12:08] and so I I brought them here fascinating for you Nate I brought new goldfish crisps ooh these are the new version of the classic goldfish cracker but they're crisp they're basically been given like a little bit of a potato chip makeover
[00:12:23] not a full-on potato chip remix if you will but like they they have noticed this bag is open you've tried these yes I have they still have a little bit of the the cracker side to them but they do it they're more airy and they're
[00:12:37] lighter and they have a crisp to them that isn't found in the cracker these taste like baked lays and that's my review what do you think Nate they're very good but like I'm trying to figure out are they necessary yeah they're not
[00:12:52] remarkably different enough to be like oh this is like a game changer the cheese though is very good on yeah I think that the flavor on these is stronger than the traditional yes correct it's more along the lines of when you get
[00:13:04] the flavor blasted goldfish and I love that alright so would you would you get these yourself Nate would you get the new goldfish crisps I would eat these yes I would eat these I don't know if I'd buy them because I try not to eat too
[00:13:16] much junk right now because I'm still oh the thinnate but but they are very very good yeah the flavor this is the problem with a thing like this I would eat this whole bag yeah think anything of it I so there's two there's three
[00:13:29] flavors there's cheddar there's sour cream and onion like that and I like and there's salt and vinegar I love so really yeah I like sour cream and onion Doritos better than the there's no sour or no what it was ranch ranch
[00:13:40] ranch Doritos get on it so there is sour cream and onion Doritos overseas oh I would you know if you a Mitch you can just send those our way I'm not sure in New Zealand as I think it's Europe no I didn't ask you right I mean I
[00:13:54] mean it is essentially a form of Europe form of Europe no they have funny voices there oh wow voices he doesn't funny ways and oh oh boy go now what what is this boy that's not
[00:14:11] a knife oh boy from crocodile hundred a crocodile Dungee yeah good thing yeah okay yeah your new Nate anyway salt and vinegar not a fan don't do that flavor I like salt buddy yeah fucking why would you ever want nasty this is a movie
[00:14:26] I like taco flavored where we talk about it to the top of a Doritos top they're wonderful they're wonderful they're they're great gift from God ladies trailers what's the last movie saw Ben hey Ben what's the last movie so
[00:14:42] you sound like a balloon what's your favorite fuzzy type memory I watched a couple things I watched I watched the documentary it's been like three weeks since your court you watch two things watch your tone
[00:14:56] it was a holidays I didn't watch it tiny yeah I didn't I didn't oh shit you just turned into my great uncle who knocked his knee against a fence post oh what the fuck was that well you can't new guy came into
[00:15:27] get t-shirts I want that to be out there anyway no so I watched I think that we talked about the last time we were recorded I watched die hard I think that we did talk about that did how to go
[00:15:44] talk about it again since then I watched a documentary called a bit conned okay it's a it's fascinating bit conned yep bit c o n n I assume this is about the Iraq war nope this is a documentary on Netflix and it's a serious movie I assume about
[00:16:07] like cryptocurrency I'm gonna say what the movie is guys that's kind of what we do so you can keep guessing if you'd like just turn that gets about the beanie bubble oh that's a good one
[00:16:20] this is gonna be the hardest episode to get through do you sometimes wish you drink around yes I'm gonna start again anyway uh bit conned story uh it's a bitcoin documentary is but it's it's about in 2017 all of these like knockoff bitcoins ethereum and doge coin and
[00:16:38] all everybody had a coin yeah and it was the the get rich quick scheme you know whatever so these knuckleheads who are just just bros that they were in like they did high-end rental cars in
[00:16:54] miami and they were just douche bros they decide you know what we're gonna do we are gonna create a credit card a debit card that's linked to your bitcoin so you can use it in the real world
[00:17:03] that's what we're gonna do wow which is fantastic yeah yeah because I the thing about bitcoin that drives me crazy is it just not real yeah well money's not really real but but there's not an easy way
[00:17:15] to spend it right now yeah exactly the getting it out and using it you know for things so of course great idea but you know what else is a great idea a toaster that can fly and and also I don't
[00:17:27] know about that make love to you because the the like the currency is it's behind so many walls of security that it's like impossible right you can't tell me through the benefits of having a toaster
[00:17:37] that flies because it has sex with you the second part is good i'm on my mom i'm bored with that yeah i'm bored with a hot toaster that can jam my mind too exactly but i want to know why why flying
[00:17:45] makes it that much better what i'm saying is just because you can think about it doesn't make it a good idea uh and or just because it's a good idea doesn't mean that it's it's
[00:17:52] implementable like that you can do it toaster flying is not a good idea though but we'll move on i like that uh let's get into this i like let's say you're a trampoline right and you're and you're really hungry for breakfast toast
[00:18:06] you don't need to fly though you just need to you're bouncing yeah but you needed to bounce so you didn't know no the toaster would hit an awkward angle and just go rickshaw off the end it was so why don't you make a toaster that is perpetually balanced
[00:18:18] this is a movie podcast so anyway uh yes great idea it was called centricard and it was this gorgeous card that they made physically had had one made and then they they did like a round of
[00:18:34] funding and and people of course were like wow i can't believe that you've got visa and bank card are on your website like wow but they didn't your ceo is this guy brand i bet who has been
[00:18:45] and like you you went to harvard everybody in your team has gone to harvard but they didn't write none of it was it was so audacious they literally took that he he and the crazy part to me
[00:18:56] is the three people that are in this documentary are the guys they're talking about it themselves do do they feel bad or no well are they narcissistic kind of they're insanely narcissistic
[00:19:07] and they're all blaming each other so they're all separate rooms and like he was such a douche bro and this one they're they're pointing fingers but he said we just typed in old white guy
[00:19:15] in google and like scroll down to like the page three or whatever and selected a guy his photo and said that's our ceo wow because we're all there just they're just oh my word yeah it's
[00:19:24] a scam wow how are they not in jail so that's the thing they all got arrested eventually because they raised but of course they were rich so and they didn't have pain in millions of
[00:19:33] dollars long america millions of dollars and they blew it all on drugs and coke and suckers and whatever sex drugs or alcohol it's crazy how i just outlandish yeah where's that netflix okay yeah netflix so just fascinating the the the temporary rise and subsequent in
[00:19:52] me i had not heard of this card either so yes such a card but you know of course they immediately get seasoned to sys letters was it sorry about everybody was it like a crowdfunded thing or
[00:20:01] were they getting like major investors into it it's it's i believe if memory serves they got actual seed funding from uh some people okay but then their big one came they got 20 million dollars
[00:20:11] from a company in south korea that like they flew to south korea and pitched them and they had these people i think in a different country like hungry or something make a fake app so that when they
[00:20:22] used the card they could press a button and it would look like it came off their phone wow fiber fiber it'll do it on fiber and it and the thing was a spoiler in the documentary
[00:20:31] they show it when they're in south korea it doesn't work like their fake app doesn't work and south korean company still goes we'll still invest that with the proprietary software is enough here we'll still invest so they they got 15 extra million they got five million dollar
[00:20:45] down payment 15 million later and then of course it's all got arrested one dude was facing 103 years in jail wow is he still in the like time served of course because you're rich
[00:20:58] because he he was the one that mainly uh i would corroborated or what it was like what's called complied with federal whatever so the out the other one oh yeah he threw him all onto the bus
[00:21:10] so yeah he walks away with time served what about there's other two one guy is in jail for eight years and the other one got like i think a monetary fine and like a like a one year in jail isn't
[00:21:20] like that but yeah it was and they made the main guy was the one that got off like pretty much scott free crazy we gotta find a scam like that guys yeah uh watch that i watched their creator
[00:21:32] what do you think i don't know it had potential didn't it i'm still kind of like working it through i just watched it two nights ago there's there's a lot to like about yes right it's so
[00:21:43] so it seems weird to say this but it's it's a full blown movie like every aspect of it it's well acted there is a decent plot that the budget is great it's all there the world they
[00:21:54] create is nice yeah yet something there's something missing yes i don't know what it is i think it's lacking a certain amount of depth that like after having so many movies that have already
[00:22:05] approached the like ai and apocalypse and technology taking over that kind of thing like it needed something a little bit more a little more to like more of an emotional level like the emotional
[00:22:15] core between him and the ai child or whatever yeah was there but i didn't necessarily think it was like all that i don't yeah yeah uh yeah so just just i'm still again it's too bad because i really
[00:22:26] wanted to like i really wanted to love that movie and i liked it i didn't think it was bad there were also probably it drug a little bit in a couple areas they could have tightened it up a little bit
[00:22:34] but that's like the case for every movie almost um so yeah no but overall i think i enjoyed it i definitely enjoyed it while i was watching it and then afterwards i was like ah man i
[00:22:42] there's some holes here i'm poking and they're not just in their ears yeah uh and then i rewatched uh last action hero yeah i haven't seen that movie in you know quite a long time i
[00:22:52] i love that movie i did too it's so good it was so ahead of its time in spite of all of its flaws because like it's you can tell like there's like studio notes all over and everything and
[00:23:01] there's other stuff i wish they would have dived into more and like especially when it comes to like you know like the what it means to like be like an action hero and like that kind of
[00:23:10] thing but there's a lot of cool stuff in it it's it's very obviously it's before it's time so this meta stuff didn't really exist and you're right the emotional there's no emotional core it's
[00:23:19] it really is just very surface level stuff that they're dealing with but so much fun to see you know jack slater our old source here is jack slater end of the real world and like he shoots
[00:23:28] the gun and like it just dings against the car instead of exploding yeah and then likewise in the actual movie realm you know a guy gets an ice cream cone through the back of his head and like
[00:23:37] just silly fun stuff and oh man i just had a great a great time with that great cameos yeah oh yeah dade de Vito plays the cat the the cartoon Sharon stone and Robert Patrick walk by
[00:23:48] yeah uh ian mckelin not really cameo but plays death that's cameo is it a cameo was well enough known i mean he was like uh yeah he's like a fairly well known actor at the time so
[00:23:59] so is that more of a bit rolled on cameo and i did like uh it it said in the in the credits for jack slater three or four whatever it was it says a film by franco colombo which i found
[00:24:13] interesting because that's arnold's horse here is one of his best friends and bodybuilder not an actor not a director yeah there you go clever little thing in the fictional world that's
[00:24:22] who directed the jack slater movie thanks buddy uh yeah so those are the three i think that i went i'll probably remember more because it has been a couple weeks i'll probably pop in with one
[00:24:29] more but those are the three that can remember off the top of my head uh uh uh uh how about you mr. Nate uh not a ton i did not watch a ton of films this uh this holiday break
[00:24:39] just been busy but i did go to the theater to see one film uh aquaman in the lost kingdom do you there do you see that no um yeah so again i have boys that are 11 and uh 13 and so even they
[00:24:55] weren't all that excited but we were looking for a film to go see the three of us and so we went took our uh took uh finn's best friend reagan with us and i wanted to like this film because i
[00:25:09] i knew what it was right i know what these films are and you just have to paint by numbers and i'm okay and i'm okay right i'm not happy but i'm okay yeah this film was not good now at all
[00:25:21] oh um not at all and and it's too bad um everything like there it was maybe the worst script for a superhero film that i've ever heard whoa like dialogue was awful just stodgy and just just
[00:25:40] tilted and i mean it's a comic movie but that doesn't mean no we've seen great comic book films with great very well written actually i quote certain philosophical you know i was actually we
[00:25:52] rewatched the boys and i um we watched all marvel films with thor in them uh because we were wanted to watch marvel films and we're like what what what let's give us a theme well let's watch
[00:26:02] all the ones with thor in them um and so we did and there is some great dialogue in those films about uh righteousness and right and wrong and you know things that we think are right but
[00:26:15] they're really not and you can they're just really well written i rewatch those films and i just appreciate them again this is just so bad and it just it didn't have to be bad there was
[00:26:28] the way that they did it or the the plot wasn't a bad plot it was just so poorly written is so poorly performed um i was so disappointed it i was just so overly disappointed
[00:26:41] at going out for the dc extended universe folks it is over baby uh how does this film doing by the way i don't think it's doing particularly well so would you guys say that it uh should the bed
[00:26:56] because of the because of the johnny dev ever heard no wait yeah we got it she doesn't have a huge huge part in it um and i don't know if they cut her out or like edit around her
[00:27:06] she's in it but i think that her role was reduced like uh before they started production hey opening weekend did it come in uh number two i got baby i got baby uh jason and moa um they're trying to do they're trying to do
[00:27:26] a thor ragnarok with him oh where he's becoming funny yeah or like leaning into the fact that he is funny yeah and also like a little bit of aloofness a little bit or like i mean he was kind
[00:27:37] of like that in the first one already yeah but he's just cocky in the first one yeah he was more cocky i thought like yeah but there was a little bit of like comedy that came with that too yeah no
[00:27:45] the comedy was around his cockiness but now it's like even in justice league aquaman was like he was clearly the thor of the team you know i don't know clearly because he's just you know
[00:27:53] he's just kind of like a bad he's not as good he's not as charming as thor is or is funny or is funny yeah so not great i rewatched a film starring jason bateman and rachel mcadams
[00:28:07] lamorn harris you guys know lamorn from new girl um jesse pleamon plemons or pleamons pleamons pleamons called game night and i have not seen this film you lucky son of a bitch a couple years
[00:28:21] and because it came out in 2018 and i haven't seen it since 2020 and it was a delightful rewatch movie so much love this film so much have we had a good comedy like this in a while like
[00:28:35] this is just a perfect comedy yeah in my opinion this is a high concept it is yeah and is the comedy you want to go to the theater to see i don't think i did see it in the theater but
[00:28:43] this is such a good film yeah so well acted so well performed and i'm a big fan of jason bateman's podcast uh and so i've gotten to know him fairly well through smartness but it was fun to rewatch
[00:28:57] him in here and hear some of his personality come out in this role as well and um more than most actors jason bateman's organic and original personality comes through uh he's acting for sure but it's it's
[00:29:12] always a version of jason bateman i mean i've never seen ozark's i can't speak to that but like in his comedic roles yeah the kind of smarmy better than you dry sorry dry dickish that's who
[00:29:22] he is and those are just amped up versions of him i would love to see uh not a sequel to this but i would just love to see more comedies like this actually the guy that made this or that wrote
[00:29:35] this is the same guy that wrote denzins your dragons honor among thieves jonathan goldstein and john frances daily which i really loved denzins dragons it did not do all that well but
[00:29:47] it's very good if you've not seen it you should see it's it's very funny yes absolutely no this this movie game night reminds me a lot of like we're the millers as far as the level of comedy
[00:29:58] like love where the millers as well how much i laughed out loud at something and and honestly very well made very well written very well acted you know and just really really fucking funny
[00:30:08] which is what you need out of out of a comedy obviously good stuff yep uh so it's real quick did you watch looper i watched the first half of lupor i've not fucking hell man you had three weeks
[00:30:22] yeah to watch this movie i was i've been giving you a gift yeah this is a ryan johnson movie with joseph gordon levit playing a young bruce willis okay joseph gordon levit and you don't
[00:30:33] talk to me i will end up at my door let me let me this is a time travel movie it is it is a a thriller it is an action movie yeah we know i don't know what are you doing what what have you
[00:30:47] been doing i was depressed around the holiday yeah we are all depressed nate every day yeah no no it's no i was no i was watching the film i'm like this seems like a really good film and
[00:30:59] i'm not into it i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna hold it i'm not gonna re i'm not gonna finish it because i know this is a good film how many days have you had since then and i just forgot to
[00:31:07] go back to it oh there it is but this looks like i watched so i thought the movie looks so i watched it so you never got about it let me say this it is weird to see joseph gordon levit in that
[00:31:17] role yeah um and so that that's what was throwing me off a little bit is joseph gordon levit is in like almost an action star role um and he is not that guy to me um and you should watch
[00:31:29] you should watch the second half yeah or inception inception but yeah he's different in this than inception he's like an action movie role i know but premium rush premium rush another example i don't
[00:31:39] know if i've seen premium rush it's fine it's okay i think if joseph gordon levit is 50 days of summer that's a movie that's the role i see him in that's not a movie what is it what 500 days of
[00:31:50] summer okay same one not uh i'm saying 50 days of summer yeah it's the same film it's not it is not even no it's just close it's 50 days of thunder it's 10 times less than i would
[00:32:02] watch 50 days of thunder to borrow like sign me up so i will watch the other half of it before next back in february probably no before next time yeah we'll see all right we'll see hey bretti did
[00:32:14] you watch anything no yeah but this is what you this is what you do better than i have busy lives right we've got who the fuck do you think you are we got no we got we got live right your job
[00:32:25] is literally watching films that's what you do for living right how dare you you are super correct i agree with everything you said i have no leg to stand on here but how dare you sir but here's the
[00:32:41] thing how dare you say it i still have to carve the same amount of time into my life to watch movies it's not my fault that it works in my favor oh you know you don't that's the whole oh my god i do
[00:32:51] no you don't it takes me the same amount of time to watch a movie as it does you yeah but you have the time to do it it's part of your job no but i'm not watching
[00:32:59] movies during my work hours at times you are if i go to a press screening but but that's not the same thing i mean you talk about press screening films here but i'm not but
[00:33:08] i'm not at home like it was taking a break at two o'clock saying sorry guys i gotta go watch dumbo you actually that was an i could pull the text that says that no but i don't i don't
[00:33:18] watch them during work hours just to watch the weird part made as he was talking about friends kid he's a fucking idiot big ears McGee over there i gave him legos and he stuck him up his ass
[00:33:31] what is wrong with you ask him all right so let's go from least favorite film that you watch your most favorite uh what no of all time go no it's just like you you probably have a long
[00:33:44] list let's go to least he had he had to watch a bunch because of the year and so actually i covered a lot of that stuff already in the last podcast before but uh and i haven't i had 17 films as much
[00:33:54] as i wanted to give you guys a hard time for not watching all over the holidays i didn't watch a ton either because wait wait wait no no no no back the fucking truck up as i believe the quote was
[00:34:05] as much as i wanted to like you didn't like you know what i was pretty measured and reserved because i could have given you guys a quite a hefty carriage of of of shit quite a large load of BS named in your general vicinity but i didn't watch
[00:34:26] i held off the restraint honestly you should be thanking me uh no i was in as much as i would i was in texas for a week with britney's family for christmas good time so and it wasn't
[00:34:41] sure and it wasn't conducive to uh watching stuff uh like i literally now i didn't why i literally because there's a hundred kids i have a hundred kids no no you don't have a hundred kids like this but like they there's some of them are always screaming
[00:34:58] um and uh no i i did not watch a single movie uh while i was in texas and so just didn't i actually take them back we went to the theater to see migration with all the kids
[00:35:10] which oh yeah how was that it's fine honestly it's uh it's it's not nearly better than you think or no better than you'd expect or no i imagine all the kids sitting there just like kind of like
[00:35:20] eating the popcorn and be like oh and brad's just like arms crossed like brad likes a good ending i don't know about that every time the kids laugh to leader i said don't
[00:35:29] laugh at that but no but no uh dream works or no no it's uh illumination entertainment who they're not really you know uh no because i love minions i love me oh i love the first despicable me is
[00:35:40] fantastic everything else is no that is not true that is not true everything else is dog shit disagree um but anyway so it's illumination entertainment uh it's that's the movie with the ducks camille non jianny and lisbeth banks play parents and they decide that they're
[00:35:50] gonna migrate south for the winter but then the trip kind of goes crazy i was anticipate the trailer and like the vibe kind of felt like it was going to be almost like national ampoune's vacation
[00:36:00] for kids but with you know ducks going on this trip like an adventure story yeah i don't want to i know that that's being very serious yeah but just like just replay that say that again
[00:36:10] just say that there's a vacation but with ducks and for kids but as you said i got i'm like yeah no that's exactly what i got is i mean it's called migration i mean it's a vacation right there
[00:36:21] you know what it's like die hard full of a family of spider man people uh but made up of groundhogs uh i mean the first half that sounds like across the spider verse and i i'm in for it but no so
[00:36:31] i haven't seen that it's not uh the trick i thought it might be pretty funny uh but it's just the script didn't really have anything super clever in it and that's what i was afraid of
[00:36:39] is yeah there was no thing there right honestly there's uh you know there there's some fun characters and like the story is is solid uh but they just don't really do anything particularly
[00:36:50] interesting with it it's not memorable yeah do you think that camille you know was like i'm being paid a lot of money here so i'm just gonna take the money and read i think he's probably a decent
[00:36:58] voice actor is he no he is he's no but like he couldn't punch up the script i mean i mean probably paid to punch up yeah that's the thing is like that wasn't his job you know he was
[00:37:05] hired to be an actor and so like but he still had read the script really yes i'm on board yeah but sure and maybe he liked it for for what it was 20 million but i would i would guess
[00:37:13] there's a lot of a lot of actors that also write that they know that their role is not to punch up the script right yeah it's like i don't know well especially on i'm sorry but on an animated
[00:37:21] film the script it's already done yeah like we've hired you to come in and read yeah exactly you know i get it but if they're and plus if you're already animating like there's only so much you
[00:37:29] can do in the writing process no it sounds like too but it's fine it's fine yeah there's enough to it is a service a little family movie the kids enjoyed it uh we went north the adults the
[00:37:40] adults were were split my my fiancee britney didn't think he was particularly great her brother daniel who has a big presence on tiktok and as a comedian he didn't think he was
[00:37:50] particularly clever either uh so yeah it was it was just it was fine it was what it was did you may look at elizabeth vancels character and say you really quack me up
[00:38:00] no but i wish that they would have taken some of your notes about that i did write kind of a lot that's why you can't go to illumination or shame anymore minions illumination
[00:38:11] illumination f*** off minions what i like the minions the minions are fart jokes they're great no i i'm i'm not joking i like the minions i don't not a fan i love the minions i know if there's anything
[00:38:23] that the minion is mainly minions release i'm there for it's really i do love it i i think it's hilarious awful they're awful no it's it's heartwarming it's wonderful no minions is great
[00:38:34] girl heart minions is the mcdonalds of animated movie that is not true that is not true that is their yellow and their shit nope so you didn't even like to speak with me too no oh it's great
[00:38:44] the first to speak with me is fantastic it is great it's great yeah wonderful but so is the second one it's not it is uh i also watched uh they cloned tyrone oh on netflix what do you
[00:38:54] think it's pretty fun it's not bad it's um i i wasn't expecting it to get quite so serious with its uh cultural commentary and whatnot but i but i didn't uh oh yeah i wasn't
[00:39:08] upset about it john boye gives a particularly great performance jayme fox is great he's he's very funny tyona perris is also in it and she's she's very good i can't forget
[00:39:18] about this film yeah it has it has a little bit of a grindhouse style to it which which i liked has some attack the block vibes in in a way though not not quite as cool feels feels like a black
[00:39:28] exploitation in sci-fi movie with like some contemporary edge to it and so there's some cool things there's some surprising twists and turns and stuff like that um i don't feel like
[00:39:37] it ever like truly peaked necessarily like there was never a time where i was like oh my god like i'm so like caught up in everything but it was you know it was intriguing enough and i like
[00:39:45] the i like the story and i like the style of the the visual storytelling and everything like that let's take a look at the reviews are praising the performances good acting though yeah performances
[00:39:54] all around are very good yeah it's uh it was it was decent i didn't i didn't love it but i uh i didn't you know really have anything to dislike that is not as good as uh a black clansman or
[00:40:05] anything like no definitely not black i mean that movie's operating on like a whole other level like yeah that's black clansman amazing good stuff i also watched uh treasure planet the disney movie gsc treasure planet i love the one that was out in like 2000 yeah i really
[00:40:20] liked that movie i don't love it so what so here's the thing uh i i have great i have shit talk treasure planet for years because when i saw it i was in high school i remember not
[00:40:29] really caring about it i think it was the time i was kind of being quote-unquote too cool for disney joseph gordon love it right you're right uh so i wanted to rewatch it because i'd i'd heard
[00:40:39] some reappraisal uh in recent years and that it was actually from ben connell with pretty good so i decided to watch it and this movie is fucking cool as hell thank you this movie is awesome
[00:40:50] it has it's pired to the caribbean meets star wars it has this great blend of classic 2d disney animation with what was then rising computer animation uh the way the world is created and
[00:41:02] designed it looks so cool it has like a little bit of a steampunk edge to it there's so many cool alien characters the voice cast is outstanding uh you got emma tomson you get david high pierce
[00:41:13] you've got joseph gordon levitt um it is it's so good there's just i i was really taken aback by how much like this movie and if this movie wasn't such a box office flop because it didn't
[00:41:23] it notoriously did not do well for disney at all i think that they would be doing a live action remake of it today because it would be so cool to see them do live action treasure
[00:41:33] planet sure uh yeah it's it is awesome if you have not seen treasure planet if you or if you remember it not being very good i would go give it a give it a watch on disney plus because
[00:41:42] it is very very cool same guy that created this is doing a film for disney i think it's for disney anyway on the metalman comic books on the what the metal men i don't know what that
[00:41:55] is yeah i don't know it well either but you're talking about musker and clements no it's like uh no like the filmmakers oh yeah yeah sorry sorry yeah i didn't know if that was
[00:42:07] like the metalman um so there's these sets of characters for dc that so it must not be for disney because dc wouldn't be disney right i mean there's a chance that like a dc comic could
[00:42:18] end up in the hands some i know some of these kind of especially these smaller characters but anyway they're writing a film for that and they also wrote and directed moana which i loved they did
[00:42:27] yeah musker musker and clements have done a lot of good stuff for disney actually so um and treasure treasure planet was actually uh a one that they had wanted to do for a long time because they
[00:42:36] musker and clements they also did a lad in and stuff like that and they'd want hercules do you like hercules you know her so there's a there's a phase of disney from like 1997 to like
[00:42:47] early to mid 2000s where like i just didn't really care and some of it is because that's when pixar really was like dominating the scene that's when computer animation rose up and it didn't feel
[00:42:56] like disney was doing the greatest 2d animation stuff i know a lot of people after the some of the greatest disney films ever right and i know that a lot of people do have an affinity for
[00:43:04] mulan and hercules and emperors new grove and those kinds of things but like they didn't work for me necessarily i had a meaning to go back and i i like them more as i watch them with my
[00:43:12] kids i've rewatched mulan mulan is fantastic i will absolutely say that i have i haven't rewatched hercules i haven't rewatched emperors new grove hercules is good i've heard it's very funny it's funny but emperors new grove is hilarious yeah i need to i need to go back and
[00:43:25] and because that's that's patcher warburton and um david spade david spade and they're they're back and forth yeah it's very good so yeah so yeah i need to go back and revisit those but
[00:43:33] yeah so there's like a period there where i wasn't really just into what disney was cooking uh so yeah i probably need to go back and revisit some of those but treasure planet fantastic i would
[00:43:41] i would totally recommend it may if you haven't watched it you should watch it with your kids i know i've watched it and i didn't love it but it's been a while i'll rewatch your kids would dig it i think
[00:43:48] all right i'll rewatch it i also watched blackberry oh that was a movie that came out it it did and you know what it's fantastic i heard it's very good it is very good it is about the
[00:44:00] creation of the blackberry uh the the famous smartphone uh glenn howerton stars in it um as one of the people who is the uh the key people that uh founded blackberry along with jay barochelle
[00:44:11] who plays one of the other person uh other persons other people responsible for creating it a filmmaker named matt johnson is in it and he plays kind of like a secondary lead as well who's like one of
[00:44:22] the people who is also responsible for being behind the creation of it and uh you know it has a better social network vibe than dumb money does which is another movie that i watch but
[00:44:35] you watch it okay i'll talk about that in a second but um yeah but it's just the performances are great glenn howerton especially man i hope after this that like see that's the thing that's a
[00:44:44] comedian that you know can do yeah you know much more yeah he's he's fantastic but yeah the movie is just very well done it's great great story telling me about how blackberry you know kind of
[00:44:55] rose up and created and became big and then got completely torn down by the iphone um they were on top right they were it was massive yeah it was if you had a blackberry when
[00:45:05] blackberry was popular you were somebody to oh they there must be important yeah i had a big swing and dick seriously i would like to see a movie on or a story on or documentary on um next
[00:45:16] tell what happened did you because my my dad's a construction guy and he owned a construction company the the the beepin's uh walkie talkie everyone talked to text everyone had those and
[00:45:27] they were fantastic i i had one like they were fantastic and they just went away really quickly but they were everywhere yeah one of the things i have i had forgotten that blackberry did that was
[00:45:36] so cool at the time is that they basically created their own uh server and network so that you could text for free across blackberries like circumventing back then what was like five cents a text which was fucking ridiculous um and so it was so they invented sexting
[00:45:53] it's a good point no one really talks about that no they didn't cover the documentary no or the the drum they didn't uh but yeah so uh blackberry is fantastic you should watch it if you haven't
[00:46:02] uh and i watched a money which on the other end of the spectrum uh so desperately wants to be the social network and i thought that wanted to be the big short yeah that's a good comparison
[00:46:12] to it's it wanted to be like the social network meets the big short and it wasn't at all yeah it doesn't feel like it digs into anything substantial about what happened it's just like oh here's what
[00:46:21] happened here are some characters who are involved and rich people are bad just telling you the story essentially it's not really that is the rise and fall of the gme stock like i like this stock time
[00:46:30] in hands you know uh don't sell blah blah blah and i remember what i i said about the ending of that film was the filmmakers seemed to think that by putting some words on the screen at the end
[00:46:41] like wow look at what we accomplished here like this is really the glue the gravitas that we're leaving you all with and yet nothing changed like people lost yeah and i don't and i
[00:46:52] wonder if some of that is just like because the real story didn't result in any big change and some of that is like that's the idea it's like look at what happened and nothing has changed
[00:47:01] it's like yeah we get it that frame that story telling framework though doesn't work yeah because they're they're giving you like look at this impactful thing and it's not impactful right yeah and also an answer can talks about this i've heard him talk about this when he creates
[00:47:14] scripts for films is he comes at it with a point of view right he's got a unique point of view that's very fair because in this that it it definitely was like the the overarkers that the
[00:47:25] big companies are bad but it wasn't it wasn't really pointed they weren't telling that story necessary it was it didn't have any teeth yeah it's just like it's like hey look what happened what do you think about p davidson he's p davidson he's probably p davidson this movie
[00:47:39] you know i mean paul does he play p davidson in the film pretty much yeah he's basically just being a slacker yeah so yeah paul dano great i do i was not that i dislike them necessarily the
[00:47:52] casting of both nick offerman and seth rogan felt kind of weird i part of me wondered if it felt like they were trying to like send up rich people by giving them like a comedic somewhat comedic
[00:48:03] performance even though they weren't leaning into like the comedy i like seth rogan a little bit more than i don't think that nick offerman needed to be that that was i don't think that
[00:48:11] was good casting yeah because they didn't really give him much to do other than just like what any normal old like i would do yeah at least with seth rogan's character
[00:48:19] like the panic in his face and like the stuff that he was trying to do there was a performance there and at least i got i had an enjoyable time watching i like the casting this film is pretty
[00:48:28] not so the cast of america for erin the bastion stan is really good oh yeah he's great he ramos is in this shaleen woodley clancy i love clancy brown um libya thoroughb you so there's
[00:48:40] there's a ton of vincent donovry i don't think clancy brown is in this movie he plays steven gill keith and kevin's father i don't even remember clancy brown in the movie i don't know oh yeah
[00:48:53] no sorry never mind yep nine it's paul day knows dad i for yeah yeah which i'm sure it's not a huge part but i do love and i like clancy brown a lot though he's a great character actor he is
[00:49:02] good um vincent donovry was in it too yeah yeah there's i'm saying that's a that's a that's a serious cast there and the crazy part is like you put that cast in there and there's like they're reading
[00:49:11] their lines and that's it it's it's not really like about the performance is necessarily it's like these are real people and you know but you're right subashina stan puts in a performance
[00:49:21] rogan does try to put it in a performance other than that it's just it's honestly even even baldo he's doing a pretty good job but that guy probably was that guy like he probably watched
[00:49:31] a bunch of interviews oh of course so he's just doing that right but oh but that's acting still i don't know but like i don't know it just like when the when the when the story is this larger than
[00:49:39] like thing that that goes nowhere yeah that's really hard to tell that story yeah i do i think we talked about a while back of whether or not like it was maybe too soon too adept it but at the same
[00:49:50] time i also don't know we said this to you forgettable yeah with like with hindsight like would would there really be any like change as far as how you would approach the story you know
[00:49:58] yeah you can tell the big short 10 years later you couldn't do this network is in 2010 that's still fairly early i mean that's only five years after you know but the difference is that it changed
[00:50:08] the world and sort sorkin had a point of view yeah like that's i'm saying is like you could do it quickly you just need to have a point of view on i also like our unique point of view i also want
[00:50:16] to point out that again the facebook changed the entire world yeah gme's game stock was a was a footnote yeah it was a very online it didn't really change anything it was a very online
[00:50:25] except now stock brokers pay a little more attention to reddit like yeah exactly like if i was like hey mom and dad you know about uh game stop stock and my dad's like the is that a video game like he would he
[00:50:36] would never even known what it was yeah and to be fair to the characters in the social network we knew before the film we didn't die these characters i don't i mean i did because i'm uh i'm on wall
[00:50:45] street bets ben was so into stonks oh i remember i was yeah he was rock hard for stonks i was amc baby amc baby diamond haze so that's uh those are the movies all right movies that i saw
[00:51:01] lots of things i'm interested in seeing oh have you seen any trailers i'm quite a stupid fucking he said it genuinely he threw his hands up there like what am i doing yeah like as he says
[00:51:15] he knows i know how like you know there's a lot of movies i'm interesting so if there been any trip fuck you oh fuck you let's talk about these stupid fucking trip now because
[00:51:28] of that you can do the trailer song oh fuck my life you earned it you know you did he's getting ready well for a second there he looked like he was in like he did yeah he was like oh i
[00:51:40] feeling the inspiration i was just trying to remember that the sesame street theme song but i can't remember it can you tell me how yeah that's it why don't you go ahead
[00:51:55] fuck you you did a great job you were doing it right there you you earned this you you already started this your punishment my what your punishment for doing what being a fuck up trailer time time to watch some trailers and talk about them with my friends
[00:52:14] trailer time you don't have to like them but you can have the end i know that i want to watch some trailers i know that i want to watch some trailers i know that i want to watch them
[00:52:33] but watch them trailers with ben aiden's brand that is a classic high school song for me great choice bringing that back out i will never be sad when that song is sung well i mean except if
[00:52:47] some place is actually closing and you have to go home i mean i i i did it did take a second to figure that song out yeah no i'm not i'm not great at carrying a melody anything
[00:52:58] but i hope we don't have to pay semi sonic for that song but they're not around i'm not paying anybody for anything ever again we did watch some trailers a couple trailers we're catching up on
[00:53:09] some stuff that was released over the whole of days the first trailer we watched is a sequel that is coming out of nowhere that nobody asked for and that is kung fu panda four
[00:53:19] and that's not to say that i dislike the kung fu panda movies i actually love the kung fu panda movies it is a you like kung fu panda better than minions i'm so fucking lute not even close
[00:53:30] you are wrong in the head ben uh i i have not seen them that'll tell the story yeah the kung fu well i know what ben's getting assigned next oh boy this is the kung fu panda one is very good
[00:53:45] this is how to train your dragon all over again yeah and yeah how'd that turn out these are not how to train your dragon no they're not even close well i don't know i don't know because i the first
[00:53:55] kung fu panda is fantastic yeah it's very good and the third one does pack a heart some heart as well but there how about the fourth one though no i i wish they would have stopped at three because
[00:54:06] three puts a perfect bow on it's a great trilogy this really feels like they're digging back into like the vault they're like oh we gotta get something out here guys uh it feels like toy
[00:54:15] story four you know like we just we don't need this but toys for four i didn't hate toys for you i didn't hate to it wasn't it wasn't great no but it was a it was it was fine when pixar is gonna do
[00:54:25] anything like it's gonna be mostly better than a lot of animated yeah but toy story four is nothing compared to toy story three i mean if you did if they'd ended in toy story three like that's a
[00:54:33] perfect ending for those characters this looks like dog shit i don't want to say dog shit it is it bad it looks boring as hell it just doesn't look like it's worth bringing back kung fu panda for
[00:54:43] especially since like they already had a series out there and it's an eminominated series it's not like it was bad uh jack black was even doing the voice on the series you know maybe that's why
[00:54:50] though because there's still interest in that's that's perfectly possible but i at the same time like at least have a story that like feels like it's worth telling panda three had a budget of
[00:54:59] 150 million and made 500 million so yeah they're big hits i mean so i i mean right i mean why not put a piece of crap out there and just make the money why not why not milk Hollywood right
[00:55:09] that golden goose he's a panda milk that golden panda that sounds gross i know that's why i said okay i don't know but yeah kung fu panda for i mean fine yeah it's directed by mike michael uh who
[00:55:26] did the lego movie two trolls the sponge i have movie alvin and chip monks chip wrecked yeah that sounds about right yeah that's exactly right shrek forever after yeah that one sucked
[00:55:38] yep so yeah that's i'm saying that's the inshack forever after it's awful and i love i love shrek no i don't think i saw it's awful do you like shrek as a whole like i like the first two i think
[00:55:49] shrek the third really took a downturn and the fourth one is just unwatchable awful he also did puss in shoes not a very good sequel i don't know why they have puss in shoes
[00:56:09] he's i'm very sneaky oh i guess uh jiffy catzenberg in 2010 said that they would like to do three more movies to make two different um you know so four five six oh yeah but that was
[00:56:23] back like i mean that was when kung fu panda was like hot hot hot it still is evident because you know why they're making a fourth one yeah they make a fourth of a lot let's talk about a good movie
[00:56:32] oh hopefully a good movie you know what looks good from the trailer all easy baby don't call your shot so soon uh there's a a trailer for a movie called civil war this is the latest film from
[00:56:41] alex garland uh most famous for movies like x mac and uh and annihilation and uh just try to put on your like best white guy voice there x mac and i i guess it was weird i'm half white so maybe it's
[00:56:56] how it sounds in wisconsin it's called x mac and it's x mac and uh uh but this is uh i'm very excited about it it's an a24 film it's an a24 film uh this the trailer kind of created a little bit of
[00:57:08] like an uproar on the internet because they a lot of people like felt like they were like tapping into like i mean the premise is a civil war in america yeah and and basically like the idea
[00:57:17] of like certain states seceding from the union based on similar concepts that are uh very much permeating texas and calphor yeah today uh and so like it feels like maybe like on the surface level
[00:57:27] it's like oh this is a ridiculous premise but like when you see all the bulls that's happening out there is it really though um but like it's a very very high concept movie where there's a lot
[00:57:35] of military action on american citizens for because states have seceded from the union and whatnot um it just i i like what kind of american are you i love that jesse plemmons man dude he
[00:57:47] also is is uh you know is nick offerman cast as the president here is that okay i don't know if he's the president or if he is the president according to the way he did yeah then they yeah
[00:57:56] he's the president i don't i love nick oh i love it very much but i don't love him in this role yeah i'm fine with that because i honestly do think he does he easily has the persona for
[00:58:05] being a politician like if you if you wipe away the ron swanson i don't know if you can rip away that's my hard thing is it's really hard for me to wipe away the ron swanson
[00:58:13] i don't think it's as hard to wipe away ron swanson as it has been for rain wilson to wipe away dwight from the office i don't know i i feel fairly similar honestly now it is hard
[00:58:21] for me it's not for me so that's that that i don't know i just well you just talked about nick offerman not being that's exactly like i feel like a little similarity there where it's
[00:58:33] like is that the best choice for that because we just do that because i do love nick offerman other than jesse plemmons i don't sound like you do i don't know i genuinely it sounds like
[00:58:41] you're betting against him i don't know any other actors other than jesse plemmons i think in this person dunce oh sorry sorry it just feels like that's a that's a name and it doesn't necessarily
[00:58:53] fit with the rest of the cast i don't know no i think he fits perfectly fine i'm i am very interested in seeing this movie i think it looks like steve mckinley henderson you know oh he's your favorite
[00:59:01] okay no he's the bit actor i told you i really like him the uh the older black guy i thought he was clinton thomas nope steven mckinley henderson yeah he's been in a bunch of oh yeah you've seen
[00:59:13] yeah um but yeah no i'm i'm very intrigued by this movie i think it looks great and alex garland i mean when he does sci-fi he delivers like i mean the production value looks excellent x mac and
[00:59:23] annihilation are stellar films so and it sounds like uh are based on the trailer christen dunce is a journalist maybe or something yeah it looks like she's a photo journalist that she's covered a
[00:59:32] lot of wars before and so she's covering this so we're gonna see different parts of and then maybe that girl is a stowaway or something i don't know yeah uh have you seen x mac and annihilation no
[00:59:43] oh see we're gonna have to fix an eight up two we're gonna get well we're we're trying we're trying but like he forgets about him he watches half of them he goes and watches it's a wonderful life for
[00:59:51] the hundredth time ah it's a great film have you seen it i don't know a couple times all right uh well since this is the first uh episode of 2024 why don't we wrap things up by talking about
[01:00:02] some of the movies that we're super excited to see this year it's a whole new slate of films it's a whole new world don't you dare close your eyes a big old screen of movies for you
[01:00:16] ben's gonna watch him at home because he doesn't go to the movie okay all right good lord also they again disappointed i sing and just know back up and then bregg gets two words out of
[01:00:30] stupid mouth and you're right there back well to be fair when i sing a song he knows the melody immediately it takes a little while with you but i figured out eventually yeah he got it what are
[01:00:40] you guys looking forward to watching nat what are you excited about hey what are you what are you what are you what are you what's giving you what's giving you a cinematic hard on okay i've got i got
[01:00:48] about five films that i want to talk oh snap he's a hungry boy um first one that i'm excited about is uh let's go in order of the film like when it comes out uh comes out here i think next
[01:01:00] week called the beekeeper yeah i'm excited about this i'm absolutely are you really excited about this dumb film i know i know ben's said i didn't think i know i don't know why i am but i'm just
[01:01:11] excited about this i wish that lizard could have seen me because i had my hand looking at looking at brother what the fuck you know that i'm excited for this film it's gotta be almost
[01:01:21] at the top of ben's list right dumb ass ben is yeah i know uh are you excited to see this ben guys am i like i got a serious with am i dumb is that dumb the harsh okay all right well you
[01:01:34] know what i'm so ben how long has been since you've been to the theater i went to go see teenage mutant ninja turtles that's what i thought and i saw oppenheimer so and that was
[01:01:43] october sure something like that uh maybe even august september september yeah i will i will now that i know that be keepers coming out next week i might actually go to the theater to see
[01:01:54] it let's go boys let's have a boys night and be fun yeah i i i'm i'm not even kind of joking i cannot wait to see this film it's so stupidly fun yeah i think it's gonna be a lot of fun too uh another
[01:02:05] one uh argile very excited about our girl i'm on the fence very excited about our yeah i'm excited about our i'm curious but i'm getting a little cat man from uncle vibes and i know it's
[01:02:17] cavills in it and maybe that's why but it just i there's something about it i'm like i don't know yet yeah i'm excited about i'm skeptical but it looks like a fun premise i'm not saying it's the
[01:02:26] one that probably the one that i i want to see most is the fall guy yeah fall guy is one of mine for sure i'm very excited to see the fall guy that trailer was great i love ryan gosselin
[01:02:37] i love emily blunt i love action i love comedy i love fun i'm assuming then oh sorry are you done with yours i got some more but go ahead what we're obviously i'm leaning into like you
[01:02:46] you want to see ghost busters of course you know here's the thing i'm is that on the top of your list it's not though i'm excited i'm gonna see it i'm i'm i'm more curious than anything because i
[01:02:54] think i think now that we have afterlife out of the way and they did the thing where like they paid tribute to herald ramus which you hated they brought back the original ghost
[01:03:01] busters which you hated i didn't hate that aspect everything um i had some issues with the third had some issues with third act i think this movie though it really looks like they're tapping into a different vibe they're kind of leaning into like a movie kind of like
[01:03:16] like a gremlins or a goonies where you have a a kid centric cast and they're dealing with some genuinely scary things so like come like i feel like they're making like a tent pole
[01:03:27] for families that doesn't really get made much anymore you know uh and so i'm i'm curious to see what that's like because i i did think the trailer looked cool i'm always going to be
[01:03:36] curious about anything ghost busters i love having paul rudd in this franchise so i'm i'm curious and i'm hopeful but i'm gonna see it it's not one of my most anticipated though i'm anticipating
[01:03:45] but it's not at the top of my list yeah well what is that the top of your list then brad i would say that the top of my list is probably furiosa uh yeah i am so jazzed for free rsa
[01:03:55] because of just how much i love mad max free road i trust george miller implicitly and yeah i just i can't wait to return to that world and see see what it's what it's about because it
[01:04:05] just it looks cool as hell and i love i love me some mad max fury road so you got another one up there no i would say if there's one that i'm i'm super excited about it's probably kingdom of the
[01:04:15] planet of the apes um you would i like that trailer i think it looks fantastic i'm very curious to see how they uh continue the story of like the evolving that world and like bringing us closer
[01:04:26] to the original planet of the apes uh so yeah i would say i would say that's probably up there as well betty what do you got uh i looking through the films that were that are coming out
[01:04:37] deadpool three i have that's a good one as well too i'm very excited about especially with all the rumors that are out there about like how they're going to cross over stuff and bring
[01:04:45] certain x-men back and do all these wild things yes i mean i'm definitely on board for that a lot of potential there yeah uh i'm also excited about uh beetle juice too i'm cautiously optimistic
[01:04:59] i just i'm not seeing a trailer right but like i i'm excited i'm i'm just i'm i'm very much worried that's going to be one of those sequels where it's like well it's too late you know we had you
[01:05:08] should have done this a long time ago and also tim burden hasn't done anything to impress me in over a decade you know and you and i have very different opinions of michael keaton i like
[01:05:16] michael keaton you don't know what is this bullshit bread is famously called my green the worst batman yeah yep and i once told michael keaton where the bathroom is what about um i'm serious are you
[01:05:29] guys i know i know we don't whoa let me tell you a little story i don't i don't let me let me tell you a little story i showed my nobody fucking thinks you're lying about that let me tell you
[01:05:40] a little story there i am working in hollywood michael keaton gave me a hand job is a story that i'm like you're fucking lying you know what one time i told michael keaton where the bed oh
[01:05:50] fucking bravo on the story buddy hey if no one told him he would piss his pants so what about uh the joker sequel excited about that fuck no did you not like the original joker it's not that
[01:06:01] i didn't like it i just hated it oh my god you really hate it no i didn't hate it i think walking phoenix it gave a fantastic performance i don't love it either i yeah i think i think that
[01:06:11] it has a very muddled message of what it's trying to do and i think it's taught phillips trying to like as a bro filmmaker trying to be like i'm gonna make something so deep and so fucking wild i'm
[01:06:20] gonna blow you away uh and it's just like i don't understand what he was trying to say like it feels like he was trying to be audacious and all that came off was that oh you're trying
[01:06:30] to be audacious and do something that no one expected you to do walking phoenix performance is incredible i'm curious to see what lady gaga's take on harley quinn might be like otherwise i'm not excited for that movie i'm just i'm i'm interested to see what happens what about
[01:06:44] what about oh god let's talk about uh roadhouse now jake jillamall is gonna be in a remake roadhouse yeah so it's number two my list wow number two just joking
[01:06:58] but i i think it's i mean i'm curious about no i'm super because it's not it's an a-list actor it's jake jillamall you know so yeah what what's wrong with you you guys know i'm not a jill in
[01:07:14] hollyak no you and i need we we like a little movie called if i'm actually very excited about it and it's on my list red hates it i'm just not impressed yet yeah i'm excited about it i think
[01:07:26] it can be whimsical real awesome real awesome a grouch um what about ballerina we'll see uh you know i'm i'm skeptical of any movie trying to ride the coattails of john wick and i
[01:07:38] know that it's going to be really hard for any spin off to live up to the potential of a proper john wick movie i do like the fact that anna de armors is in it i'm never going to be mad
[01:07:46] about looking at her so we'll see and i'm i'm also very curious about inside out too i would say that's one that i'm probably pretty highly anticipating then what about this one this
[01:07:55] seems that it's not titled the hour we don't know the title yet comes out in august you know fort knockers three yeah i get i'm dumb no i was good the dancing cat the dancing cat comes alive
[01:08:10] that's carfield but um but there's an alien untitled alien film coming out there is directed by feed alvarez yeah coming out in in august i was gonna ask you because i felt like you like the
[01:08:20] alien films but do you not no idea i like the alien film this is directed by the guy who did the remake of evil dead so could be could be pretty good sorry for asking uh it's pretty grumpy
[01:08:32] do you go to the rink's film coming out this year so like that yeah we'll see we'll see how that works yeah man man what about uh i am i'm interested to see uh what they're going to do with
[01:08:43] beaver leal's cop uh axle that does come out sometime i i am i'm interested you know again it's a it's what about gladiator two uh i don't know i don't know much about it you know really
[01:08:54] scott is back baby no palmy scowls in it okay all right well those are the movies that we're pretty major ones coming out yeah uh so you can see the beekeeper starting next week folks so
[01:09:07] actually technically this week it is when it comes out that movie called alien romulus so that's do they that's the rumor title it hasn't been confirmed yet mean girls comes out soon too
[01:09:15] right mean girls i'm gonna see that i think comes out the same day actually january 12th probably mean girls yeah musical movie with singing and dancing and high school action yeah it's not my
