Episode 197 - Lasagna Tastes Good in a Place Like This

Ben, Brad, and Nate are ready for Thanksgiving. In fact, Nate has been so busy cooking up turkey that he couldn't be bothered to watch his assigned movie, and instead, he watched a crappy Christmas movie on FreeVee. Meanwhile, Ben watched a lovely movie about a man and his robot, and Brad watched some sheep have fun in the city. Alex Pappas joins us again, and he's seen The Marvels! Plus, we talked about the trailers for Madame Web (FIFTY SHADES OF TIME!) and Garfield (MONDAYS, AMIRITE!?). Stick around for the game where Nate proves the internet doesn't know the difference between comic strips and comic book movies.

Listen to our podcast while you stuff your face!

[00:00:00] Hey everybody! Go Flix Yourself! Hey everybody it's another episode of Go Flix Yourself! My name is Ben Conowitz and with me as always is the Lasagna to my Garfield, Bradford Oman. Hey that's me! That's the sound Lasagna makes? That's not I make when I'm munching on some lasagna.

[00:00:32] And you know what, you feel like a normal. You're a normal to my Garfield. I honestly don't even remember what a normal sounds like but I'm offended. Yeah, you should be because Garfield's always trying to send Nermal to Abu Dhabi. Yeah, Nermals was not like a well-liked character.

[00:00:46] No, no, to the fan base, sure. Or to anybody. Yeah, but you just said that he's Nermal to your Garfield. So like, you hate me. You hate me. It doesn't necessarily mean that.

[00:00:55] I've told you in the last therapy session, I feel like you hate me and you said you don't. The John Arbuckle to my Garfield name. John Arbuckle sucks. Yeah, also Garfield isn't the biggest fan of John either. He kind of makes fun of him all the time.

[00:01:08] Uses him. When's the last time you read a Garfield comic by Jim Davis? Special guest, the Odie to my Garfield, Alex Pappas. Perf. See, he's committed to the bit. Yeah, but like, you're going to kick him off a table? I don't even know what you're talking about.

[00:01:23] In the Garfield comics, Garfield kicks Odie off the table nine times out of ten. You know I can't read. If you were to read anything, though, it would be comic strips. I actually do read a lot of comic strips.

[00:01:33] I go to my parents' house every once in a while and read Family Circus. I grab this Sunday paper that they still get and I only take the comics and then I read them when I'm eating over there. You know, it makes Fox Trot.

[00:01:43] Fox Trot was a failure. Fox Trot, oh my God, I bought the anthology. I have some of them. I've been trying to collect them all. And I've got the entirety of Gary Larson's The Far Side. Nice. It's a leatherbound book actually. Oh. It's the only leatherbound book.

[00:01:56] Yeah, I'll bet it is. It's The Far Side. Nerd. I fucking love that. And then Close to Home, remember that one? There's a single panel just kind of like Far Side. Really, really funny stuff. Good. Welcome to Comic Corner with Ben and Brad.

[00:02:08] So this is a movie podcast where we're talking about the latest movies that we've seen. We've got a couple real fun trailers coming up for you. Oh yeah. Yeah, it's going to be a good time. We just like to have a good time.

[00:02:18] We like that you're here listening to us. Thank you for taking the time out of your day. You could pause the podcast right now and you could rate and subscribe. Just give us five stars if you wanted. Or go write in your gratitude journal. It is Thanksgiving week.

[00:02:28] No, no, don't do that. Don't do that. Jesus. What the fuck is wrong with you? You know what, take some time and just meditate to yourself right now. Just get our NPR voices on the tube. Hey, turn off the podcast. Go for a walk. You know, yeah, just...

[00:02:41] Think about the things that you're thankful for and maybe, you know, put it into the universe. Thanks for listening to NPR. No, we love the Julas & Sponkests. Thanks a lot, guys. Please tell your friends, tell your family. Play one of our episodes before Thanksgiving dinner.

[00:02:56] Yeah, definitely make sure though that's like kids around. No, no, actually if they are then teach them some stuff. Brett, are we eating tonight? I mean every night, buddy. Well, who graciously... Papa's gotta keep his gut full. Who are we thankful for as the sponsor of...

[00:03:13] And keep in mind these people legitimately write us checks and they send us products to try. Yeah. Who is this week's sponsor? Ben, let me ask you something. You know what, it's Thanksgiving. I'm trying to turn a new leaf. Go ahead, Brett.

[00:03:26] You can ask me anything you want, buddy. We don't eat leaves for Thanksgiving. I'm trying so hard. Don't screw this up for yourself. You know, I know Thanksgiving is coming but it's tough to bring stuff here that is really tied to Thanksgiving.

[00:03:36] You know, because there aren't a lot of things that don't require cooking and stuff like that. Like I'm not gonna bring a fucking turkey down here. I'm not gonna bring on cornbread, gas roll or stuffing. I'm trying, buddy. Keep going.

[00:03:46] But you know what is coming up after Thanksgiving? Nate, tell me. It's Christmas. It's Christmas. You bet your ass it's Christmas. Jiggle, jangle. What's some of your favorite Christmas treats, Ben? Ooh. You know what, Brett? I really like, I'm trying to just not be mad.

[00:04:03] It's really clouding my judgment. Like I'm gonna, it's gray fog in my head. I can't think straight. Well, that's COVID. Uh, COVID? Yeah. Cloudy. Yeah, it's cloudy. Chance of meatballs. You know what? I probably, so this is something that is not... Jesus Christ, just fucking get to it.

[00:04:19] This is not a Christmas food but it's Christmas food because I only have it at Christmas. Does that make sense? Mm-hmm. Because my aunt makes party rice. What? You hear this? What is that?

[00:04:29] There are pieces of rye toast and it's a meat, like a sausage mixture with cheese and you put it on a piece of rye, like a little square of rye toast, rye bread, and you cook it in the oven and it's party rice. You can do that anytime.

[00:04:41] What the fuck is that? I've never even heard of that. I will bring some home from Thanksgiving. But I want fresh food. You can make some at Thanksgiving at Christmas. Oh, it's like a liverwurst? No, no, it's a meaty cheesy mixture on top of rye toast.

[00:04:53] And it is my favorite. Look, I love meat and cheese and I'm curious to know what this is. You will like it. You will love it. All right. I don't know how you could go wrong though. It's meat, cheese, and toast.

[00:05:03] I'm curious to try the party rice or whatever it's called. Rye, rye bread, party rice. Party rice. Party rice. So growing up we call it puppy food because it kind of doesn't look like puppy food. Oh no, I'm back out. That's a whole another thing.

[00:05:17] I wasn't going to say that part because it doesn't sound very appetizing but we call it out, Poe, and my family. My aunt made a Mary Jo. God bless her. She makes it so good. Honestly, I wouldn't care if you called it that. I would eat.

[00:05:29] I gained so much weight at Thanksgiving and Christmas because of that. I ate a full tray. You didn't have to have the second part of that sentence. Anyway. So what? Okay. You know what? Fuck you motherfucker.

[00:05:41] Bring out your stupid goddamn stupid fucking treat and we're going to have to do it. Oh, Christmas. Oh, you fucking put this in your mouth. Fucking asshole. Hey, well, hey, are you okay? Yeah, I was trying to be nice and he's just pushed my buttons.

[00:05:52] Well, Ben, I have a trick for you because I brought party rice for you. Thanks, Nate. Hey, we're at party rice for you. Party rice. Party rice. Is that R-I-C-E? Fucking idiot. I brought pretty rice for you.

[00:06:03] No, you know what I have because I know how much you like to stick to the elves for food groups as much as you can, which is Nate, what are they? Syrups. Candy, candy corn. Yeah, candy corn, candy cane, candy corn and maple syrup. Yeah.

[00:06:24] Well, because it's elf's 20th anniversary this year. Yeah. I brought maple syrup. There's a series of elf inspired treats that are out there. From Brox or something? From Brox? Wow, good call. Yes, Brox has new candy cane forest mellow cream candies.

[00:06:43] I don't even know what that all means, but I can't wait. It's basically like a different kind of candy corn. Nate, you love Christmas so much. I love it. I don't care. I want to eat this. I've watched seven awful movies already Christmas.

[00:06:58] So there are four different flavors with four- Have you still not seen plane streams and all the mobiles? Yeah, I thought that you hadn't seen them. No, I have. Sorry. No, it was Luke Starkey that hasn't seen them. Oh, that's right. Yeah, sorry. We're not- I'm not Luke.

[00:07:13] You're not- I lost him wait, but I'm not Luke. So there are four different pieces with four different flavors. I've already parsed them out so we didn't have to dig through the bag. I was driving over here.

[00:07:22] I was terrified we were going to have to eat some kind of Thanksgiving candy corn. No, fortunately- Like gravy. Don't worry, it's just Christmas. They didn't come out with that this year. Here Ben, go ahead and hand yours over to- I mean this is a lot of-

[00:07:34] No, he's already like handed it. Hold on. I'm coming over. I'm coming over to you. Let him get out of the bag. You're not in my hand. This is disgusting. There's some smells. You don't have to lick his hands to hand him things. No, but I-

[00:07:48] He's got like sweaty hands and he was kind of like- I'm also a little uncomfortable that you handed me these from your bear. Oh, I like- I like what's going on. I only like just smear my hand in my nuts earlier in the day.

[00:07:58] So this is like a candy corn texture. Here's the thing, Brad. Yes. You have these in your hands because you parcel them out. They've been sitting in your hand for five minutes. No, they weren't in my hands. They were sitting here on the couch.

[00:08:08] And then they were in your hand. Hey guys, for a split second, you cry baby bitch. Which one did you try first? I tried the- Tell us, hurry. Fast. The candy cane one is very good. I put the candy cane one in your mouth. Oh, jeez. Faster. Oh.

[00:08:24] I like it. Oh boy. I'm down. These guys aren't, but I'm down with it. You know what this one tastes like? Candy cane. Well, it's candy cane flavor. It tastes like those butter mints from weddings. Yeah, that's also part of it. I don't mind those.

[00:08:39] Ben is spitting his out. Stop. Stop. That's not worse than other things we've had and you've never spit them out before. No, I just really don't like peppermint. Oh really? I really don't. Wow. The peppermint's going to be the best one. There is no doubt. Great, great.

[00:08:54] That's shocking. Why don't you like peppermint? It just, it's just too overwhelming. So I ate the candy- Really? I ate the candy corn shaped one next. What is that one? Oh boy. The candy corn shaped one is Buddy's hat.

[00:09:05] Yeah, I don't know what the flavor is but it's fine. It tastes like a waffle. Is it a waffle? Yeah, it's maple syrup. Yeah, it's maple syrup. Yeah, of course maple syrup. I like that. Go ahead and do the white one next, the snowman.

[00:09:17] See what you think of that one? These are treats. I'm loving it. There's candies McDonald's. There's his guzz. X-beetles. After the maple one, it's difficult to kind of get a beat on them. Is that just candy? Sugar. Yeah, it's just sugar. It's toasted marshmallow.

[00:09:35] Okay yeah, but it's just sugar, but it's fine. I like it. It's all sugar baby. Yeah. All right so we're going to do the blue whale next. The narwhal. Mmm. Mmm. Oh, it's candy corn. Yeah, where's the flavor?

[00:09:48] You should have just waited, Ben, because it's frosted sugar cookie. So it's just sugar. Okay. Yeah, it's just sugar. What was the candy frosting? Tastes like frosting. Yeah. Candy corn. Those are good. Good. Good. It was maple syrup. No, that's not the L4 food groups.

[00:10:03] Candy Canes, Candy Corn, Candy and Maple Syrup. Yeah, so the one that was simply a candy corn was maple syrup. I didn't say they were all- That was just asking. That was another bit. What the fuck?

[00:10:12] No, you gave me four pieces of candy and you said the four food groups as well and I was expecting one to match up with each one. I'm not an idiot. Well, first of all, you should have been thrown off immediately then

[00:10:21] because the first one was peppermint and I don't recall hearing peppermint. Candy cane. That's candy cane. It doesn't matter. Oh my God, you gave me candy cane and I tasted candy cane. And they gave me maple syrup, the second food group, so I tasted it.

[00:10:33] Then the third one was candy, okay, so then I'm looking for candy corn and it never happened. Look. What the fuck is going on here? You're not wrong. Because I too think that they should have stuck to it.

[00:10:45] But at the same time, if candy corn was one of them, I'd be mad because fuck candy corn. Here's the fourth one, it's bacon. All right, well I guess- I'd love some bacon candy corn. I might have turned around on that one. Yeah.

[00:10:56] That's a nice little salty sweetness. All right, let's just talk, Alex. Yeah, buddy. How do you feel about these Ophmello cream treats? Fuck off. I did not like them. What is the last movie you saw? I didn't dislike them. You know what I guess is, congratulations,

[00:11:08] you get yourself a whole bag of candy corn. I will love them. Yeah. We have a new chili cheese Pringles. I have diabetes now. You had diabetes before? No, I have pre-diabetes. You have triabetes. You made the joke before? No, you made the joke before. Did I really?

[00:11:22] Yeah. Oh, nice. It's been a joke that's been said a couple times. Hey guys, I have quad-beaties. Alex, what's the last movie you saw, buddy? Son of a bitch. Yesterday, my oldest son, Alex, I was in the hospital and I was in the hospital.

[00:11:38] Yesterday, my oldest son and I went and saw the Marvels. Oh, let's talk about it because I saw it too. What did you think? Now that's Marvels the Marvels featuring Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel, right? That's Marvels the Marvels.

[00:11:50] And I would have been 100% behind Professor Marvel as well. Of course. Why wouldn't you? It's a joke from movie pages. I enjoyed it. I'm with you, buddy. I'm with you. There was some weird tonal stuff. Tone went awkward direction. There was a couple of disparate. Yeah.

[00:12:08] But it was fun and I'm also like, some Marvel movies have to be like comic books and like comic books are usually ridiculous and the more superheroes you add to them, the more ridiculous they kind of become. And so I enjoyed Quantimania. I even enjoyed this.

[00:12:28] I don't need everything to be super fantastic all the time. Like some things can be light and fun and the enthusiasm that the young woman who plays Kamala Khan has. Iman Vellani. Iman Vellani for the whole universe and everything it bleeds through.

[00:12:42] For the first time it felt like Brie Larson knew who Captain Marvel was and how she wanted to portray her. It felt a little more layered than it usually is. That was enjoyable. Across the board, I had a good time with it.

[00:12:55] I'm disappointed that people aren't going to the film. My friend Joe Ruiz just went today and he took a picture and posted it on his Twitter of just him and his son in the theater. It was just the two of them on a Sunday matinee.

[00:13:09] And I'm kind of sad about that because it is a good film and people should see this film. It had a steep drop second week. Something like 83% or something like that. Why is that? Because it's not a bad film, right?

[00:13:20] There are other Marvel films that have done much better. Is it just the burnout? It's better than Thor 2. I think it's a mix of... You watch your tongue. It's superhero burnout still. I think the Marvels has a little more of an uphill battle

[00:13:34] than some of the other Marvel stuff recently because two of the main characters were only prominently featured in TV shows on Disney+. So if people aren't watching them and they feel a little bit left out, maybe they're just like, I don't need to do that.

[00:13:47] And on top of that, Captain Marvel, even though it was very successful, she's not exactly the most popular character in the MCU. And then on top of that, you have the bad reviews going into it and people are just probably staying away because of that.

[00:13:58] Can I interrupt Ben one more time? Probably. Do you also think that there is this thing where, well now we all know, oh, eventually that's just going to hit Disney+. That's part of it too for sure. That's part of it too for sure.

[00:14:09] That's part of it too for sure. That's part of it too for sure. That kind of happened with Elemental too. But Elemental worked out because the box office had long legs and it still ended up making a pretty decent chunk of cash.

[00:14:20] But that opening weekend was not as big as Pixar would have wanted as Disney would have wanted as any of the other movies. Because this is something where the company is technically cannibalizing their own audience. Oh, for sure. Well, I think that superhero fatigue definitely plays into it.

[00:14:35] I actually kind of think with Marvel specifically, it's not, it fatigues sure, but I think it's actually less fatigue and more there isn't a compelling reason to go put your butt in the seat. It's hard to always compare everything to the before-end game stuff, right?

[00:14:53] But it really did feel like I can't miss this Marvel movie because something about the greater Marvel story is going to happen in it. And now we're definitely in a period where no one knows the greater Marvel.

[00:15:02] I don't want to watch The Last Bride and have a whole. We've talked about this before, is that overall so far everything that's happened after Endgame has kind of lacked focus. Whether it's because of the multiverse making things maybe a little too big

[00:15:16] or because they've only just recently started to hone in on who like the big bad is supposed to be. I don't know who the big bad is right now. Well, I mean, so technically it's supposed to be Kang. That's what I'm saying, but it's not anymore, right?

[00:15:27] Right. Well, I mean they haven't officially changed that. They put like Thanos at the end of every film, it seemed like. Well, there was always talk about the Infinity Stones and stuff like that. So there was something that was always tied to you,

[00:15:38] but there hasn't really been much of anything tying these movies together other than characters appearing in each other's movies. So like it's lacks focus right now. Has the MCU thought about, has Fahy thought about just doing the thing

[00:15:47] where you know it's a brand new actor and it's yeah, it's me. Deal with it as Kang. I mean, so there was actually an article that came out a couple weeks ago, a week and a half ago or something like that about where Marvel is at right now

[00:15:58] and kind of like the trouble behind the scenes and like they're considering everything, you know, they're considering that there's been talk of them potentially pulling Kang and making Dr. Doom the big bad instead. Yeah. And if that's done well, fuck yeah. Yeah, that would be very cool.

[00:16:11] They haven't introduced Dr. Doom in the movie yet. No, not yet. Because they haven't introduced Fantastic Four yet. But that's coming. Is the Pedro Pascal thing real? Pedro Pascal thing is 100% true. So he's playing Reed Richards. He's playing Reed Richards. You guys like that? I'm fine with it.

[00:16:24] Is he has to shave? Yes, yeah. He does have to be clean. What if that's in his cartridge? I will not shave. Although to be fair, Reed Richards has had beards. Yeah, but John Krasinski. Not your first time on screen. That was like an older season, Reed Richards.

[00:16:37] Yeah, he's not seasoned yet. So do you like that better than the John Krasinski? Yeah, only because John Krasinski felt very safe and easy but partially I just also just have a bad taste in my mouth because they didn't do much with Reed Richards

[00:16:49] and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Oh, no, yeah, they just killed him. I was kind of hoping for John Krasinski in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm much happier... Does he look like him? I'm much happier with Krasinski doing other things elsewhere

[00:17:02] than getting tied up with Marvel for a decade. Yeah, that's true. Because that man, that's a long... He's a great filmmaker. Long gestation. One of the other potential castings was them making Jake Gyllenhaal, Reed Richards even though he was already Mysterio.

[00:17:17] And you guys like Gyllenhaal, you're Gyllenhaal Yaks, but... I think Gyllenhaal is very good. I'm not in love with him, but I think he's very good. I think he's very good. What's wrong with Jake Gyllenhaal? He would have been solid. You know this, I don't love Jake Gyllenhaal.

[00:17:27] Yeah, but I still don't know why. Pedro, I just don't love him. Is it because you don't look like Jake Gyllenhaal? I don't. Pedro Pascal feels maybe just a little too old to be introduced into the Marvel Universe as...

[00:17:42] I think it's just because he has an older face. I know. Obviously, they can do a lot of stuff with the movie. How old is he? Pedro Pascal is at least... How old is he? He's at least 50. He's right now, he's 48.

[00:17:53] So by the time they're going to make the film, he's going to be 50. It's going to be... If the argument is that Krasinski came in later... How old is Reed Richards in the comics, like 30-ish? Yeah, well when they get their powers, they're much younger.

[00:18:05] And then they age along with Marvel pretty well. But they're essentially like right out of college when they go to space and get their powers. Does it seem strange to bring Fantastic Four into the equation and have Reed Richards be that age? 50.

[00:18:19] Right, it feels like he's got a... When they make this film, he should be 50. Can I double-savocate a little bit? Honestly, I really do think though, you've had two chances to boot this. And they both sucked. So for my double-savocate position would be, well, you know what?

[00:18:35] Another origin story? What the fuck are we doing? Let's... Everybody knows who they are. They're pretty famous. Everybody knows what the thing looks like in The Invisible Woman and The Human Torture. It's in the Lexaclan and not just in comic book lore,

[00:18:45] but a lot of people generally know. So why not introduce them as age? That could be a move that... Because again, I don't want to sit through another goddamn reboot. The only reason... They can't be in the multiverse then.

[00:18:56] They can't be in the universe where Tony Stark just died because where was Reed Richards and everybody before? What were they doing? Oh come on, they did that shit all the time. That would be hard to do with this. Yeah, when you have such an inter-claim universe,

[00:19:10] it is really hard to be like, okay, so the Fantastic Four have been around by where have they been during all this stuff? No one ever mentioned it one time. That's right. But no, I do think that that's probably what they will do

[00:19:20] and that's probably the reason why he's older. And part of me wonders too is if maybe, you know, because I think that what they're going to end up doing with X-Men is giving a farewell to the original X-Men cast by doing multiverse stuff

[00:19:35] and then Secret Wars is going to be like, oh shit, everything is being reset and maybe we'll get a new version of Fantastic Four then because the other problem with him being older is that if he is... Yeah, you start there. Yeah, exactly.

[00:19:48] He's gonna be 16 when the third movie. Well, I cannot stretch as much as I used to stretch. That doesn't sound like Pedro Pascal at all. I know, because I don't want to do the voice. You can do the voice. No, I don't want to.

[00:19:59] So right now they've got, for the MCU, they've got Deadpool 3 coming out next year. Next year in July. Please? Just just a little bit. Like Old Reed Richards as Pedro Pascal. I am very old. Thank you, I appreciate that. And then Captain America, Brave New World coming out

[00:20:21] February 14th to 2025. Ooh, now do Captain America's voice. Almost got him, almost got him. Is anybody excited about that? Captain America's new iteration. I'm not sure I'm excited about anything happening right now. Honestly... So that's not excited about Deadpool? Yes, I'm very excited about it.

[00:20:41] I'm gonna say that about Deadpool. They gotta be hoping Deadpool is gonna do well, right? Oh, for sure. It will do well. Yeah, it'll do well for sure. Well, opening weekend would be great. If it's a good movie. Yeah, I don't know.

[00:20:52] I personally find myself in a surprising situation where there's not a lot happening with Marvel that I'm excited about right now unless they really start to write the ship and put their shit together because they've had some troubles, they need to pull back, they need to scale back

[00:21:04] both as far as how much they're putting out and the scale of which they're putting out stories and I just... Something's gotta change. How close are we? This is a real question, I'm not new to it. How close are we to them just digging deep into the pocketbooks

[00:21:17] and inflating a budget and saying we gotta find a way to bring Chris Evans back? It's funny you say that because that's one of the things that was mentioned in that Variety article. Is that one of the talks? How do you reset it

[00:21:27] as we could bring them back? Multiverse. You don't know, I mean, sorry. In the real world with like contracts and this and that. Yeah, throw money in them. Oh yeah, of course. Get it back because we need a reboot. We need to do this again.

[00:21:37] No, well one of the things that they have talked about is bringing back Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downe Jr., Tony Stark and all that stuff to do like getting them back together to like kind of... Shepard the new whatever? Right, exactly. But I don't know,

[00:21:51] I think that's a bad idea personally and I think that just smells desperate. Yeah, I mean as much as we're talking about this though there's still commercially very successful, right? Up until this last week. Multiverse of Madness has done really well.

[00:22:03] The Thor Love and Thunder did really well. Black Panther were kind of forever. These are all 800 million or more movies. And a lot of them, like I said you guys in Infographics, did you guys study that at all? I didn't know it.

[00:22:14] But like most of the movies up until very recent, I mean like Captain Marvel very recently the opening weekend exceeded their budget. Most of them and that includes what kind of forever, that includes Quantum Media. Like even though these were not... Yeah, Quantum Media didn't do real well

[00:22:32] I think it only made like 4, 20 or something. But opening weekend still crushes its budget and then if you're in the positives by hundreds of millions of dollars of course the studio doesn't give a shit. It's getting now where it's like Captain Marvel didn't even breathe the air

[00:22:45] of covering its budget within the first weekend. I would also just very quickly strike stuff to you though. My son loved the Marvels and at the end when a certain other young character shows up in a cool callback to another scene during one of those uncredits

[00:23:03] he hooded and hollered when he saw that character because he really liked her because she was young and these are young ones. Maybe some of these movies are really not for us as much anymore. That's why I agree that like the Robert Downey Jr.

[00:23:22] and bringing them back thing is a bad idea because like the next generation of Marvel fans need to have Marvel movies too. And so if you can only get the nostalgia bucks in seat then you really aren't doing a good service in terms of like to your studio.

[00:23:37] It would be a terrible idea. It's the Star Wars problem. It would be a short term cash grab though and they could get a lot of money if they did one more. I think that there's real butter to be churned with the Young Avengers.

[00:23:47] I think that there really is a Marvel for that. I've been curious about that because that's something that like isn't super appealing to me. And so like I've been wondering if there if like the younger audiences are latching on to the younger characters coming together

[00:24:01] as a new sort of team but at the same time I you know I don't I don't know I think it's me Colossus. I'm seven. It's just tough to like imagine a world where like we're making movies prominently featuring these characters who have only ever existed on TV.

[00:24:19] You know and it just feels like I don't know it just feels like weird to do that. I took Finn former former guest of the show. Finn and Harry to the show and his thing is he's like I think they should pull back on some of the

[00:24:34] the TV shows on Disney Plus. That's where he thinks the over saturation is happening. Full disclosure I have not seen I did not watch the Marvel. Which which I actually really really like I thought it was a really well Loki seasons I'm just too busy.

[00:24:48] I didn't watch that one because again I saw the first season. It was good. It doesn't draw me in though to watch a series. I like movies for the second season is great. I'm not so but if I go

[00:24:59] if I go I guess maybe I'm classic case here if I go to this if I go to the cinema and sit down and there's things from TV that have been pulled in that I haven't seen. I'm maybe not even going to see that movie

[00:25:10] because like why would I don't know what's going on. Did you see the Marvel's here or no. No. Okay yeah there it did help seen Miss Marvel. You don't think you have to. So Brad and I talked about that. I'm going to go see it without watching the

[00:25:21] I'm so sorry. What is the Marvel. Miss Marvel. Miss Marvel's a TV show. The Marvel's. Is the movie. Yeah. So I'm going to see the Marvel's without seeing Miss Marvel and just to see in my opinion about like oh you know I didn't get this part.

[00:25:33] I didn't get that part whatever. You know I would be a good case. I think you'll still enjoy it but it is a much more full film in my opinion knowing Kamala Khan's background. Is it. But you don't want an origin story right.

[00:25:45] You're done with the origin stories. Is it funny. There's sick origin stories. Is it funnier if you. It's not that you get the jokes easier. I don't know. No I don't know about that. The Marvel's is funny on its own because you understand that Kamala Khan's character

[00:25:58] is just somebody who is fresh into the world of superheroes and she's just giddy about everything but it adds more depth to the character and like what she's experienced so far. You really understand her obsession with. And her family dynamic too. Right but her family's very choppy

[00:26:12] and so like you'll yes you're not going to be like Miss Marvel is the one that you have a brother like that. I don't understand natural family like I don't want my 16 year old to be as easy to diagnose. Miss Marvel is the least problem you

[00:26:22] have connecting dots. You saw Wanda vision so you so you won't necessarily be confused by photon. Paris's presence as photon yeah they didn't give her a name. That was to me too because they hung a lamp. Well to be fair they never referred

[00:26:34] to Captain Marvel by name until Miss Marvel so that's true but hi Captain Marvel. Right. Like they purposely hung a hung a hat on it so like it felt like like well that's that's the one thing that always kind of bugged me about sometimes Marvel sense of humor

[00:26:49] it's like they're too cool to like me earnest nods to the characters and the comic book details like the fact that they like in Spider-Man No Way Home make fun of like that his name is Doc Ock and it's like oh we have to poke fun at this

[00:27:00] like you can't just be a thing like your name's fucking Spider-Man like grow up. They're all made up names. Yep. All right well that's the last movie I saw. Now Brad what's the last movie you saw and give me 30 minutes on it. I saw Air Bud.

[00:27:15] Okay Nate what's the last movie you saw buddy. Well I'm going to have to admit early that I did not see my assigned film. Oh okay. I don't know first of all we're about 45 minutes in with that discussion so it's not early. What are we I did.

[00:27:27] What are we even doing anymore. I don't know I watched you know what Brad you'd be proud of me you assigned me a movie when like last Sunday I watched it Monday. I'm proud of you. Nate good for you. Good for you. I didn't.

[00:27:39] Wait wait you know what. Hey dad thanks. Nate how many other movies did you watch. A couple. Ah interesting. What'd you watch buddy. I watched Please Don't Destroy the Treasure of Foggy Mountain. It's a new film on Peacock. Peacock. Peacock. Peacock. It is kind of borrowing from

[00:27:58] our other podcasts that tend to one it is The Please Don't Destroy comedy group. Troop if you will. Triumvirate. Ensemble. That is now on SNL created a film and it is very very funny. Very funny I saw this one. You saw it. Yeah. Oh my god.

[00:28:17] Brad had seen it a couple of months ago. Alex did you see it. I'm not seeing it. Okay. It is. It reminds me. You're looking for some chuckles Alex. It reminds me of a film I would have watched as a teenager and just loved.

[00:28:29] I mean I loved it even as a 42 year old but it is silly. It is. And it's silly in the right way. Yes these guys doing what they do on SNL but there's certainly more layers to it. Dial up yeah. But it is they are masters

[00:28:43] of the absurd and I just love it so much and they actually do really well acting. So there's no major characters other than like John Goodman narrating it. They're so. Conan O'Brien. Conan yeah. They're so. But first acting gig for him. Good at two of them being

[00:29:00] absurd and one of them being grounded and it always switches. And that's the thing. And I love that. The straight guy is always the same. Exactly. It's like you know blah blah blah blah hot. Wait Jay hot like they're always bringing it back to

[00:29:12] reality so it doesn't ever get away from them. Yeah and that and pulling that. And the hawk bit was just maybe the whole movie is great. Observational stuff as well. They keep the jokes coming fast too. Like it's I was reminded kind of like of 30 rock as far

[00:29:25] as like the joke pacing and same with like and the movie has a vibe of hot rod too you know that's really like a lot of inspiration mixed with like adventure movies of the 90s that it comes from. But I just I love how quickly

[00:29:35] it moves like one of my favorite side bits that it's so fast is when early in the movie when Conan O'Brien asks wait a minute why are your lips red? Reading snow cones and then like. And Conan does so well in that by the way he does

[00:29:48] such a good job in that role. Yeah but he's just he's like wow you can guess that really fast. That's a really good guess. And then that same sequence too when they're talking about giving the alcohol to the kids is like they could have been from

[00:30:00] Europe I don't know it's like what made you think they were from Europe. One of them was eating pan or chocolate. Yeah a certain. You know it's a quite. But Conan O'Brien really surprised me. I was expecting him to be funny but he's a good actor

[00:30:13] like I was really surprised by how well he did here in his first first role. But yeah no that it's a really funny movie. You can watch it right now if you subscribe to Pocock what's the next thing you saw buddy or the last thing you saw.

[00:30:24] The other thing I saw was a film was your signed movie by the way it was the rock by me. So go on. I will watch it over the holidays. You haven't seen the rock. No. Most of the action films that Ben watched I have not seen.

[00:30:39] Oh I'm sorry that the rock is only actually because it's a bad movie. I did not say it was a bad film. I'm excited. No voice there. I did not. Why do you always like read into my voices. I'm just saying because my dad has a similar voice

[00:30:51] because of the implication because of the implication instead of. I was in the movie when I was in the movie when I was in the movie instead of. I have seen the stuff the fucking idiot scene you'll know. Hey wait wait wait you're gonna love this. Oh boy.

[00:31:06] Instead of the rock I watched I hate you so much. Ex-Miss on freebie. What the fuck are you doing to me. Is that an X-Men movie? It is the X-Men movie. God I would love to watch it. I know that you mentioned I'm like I would love

[00:31:23] that because I do love The Guardians of the Galaxy. It's a movie about minimalism. Oh boy. Jesus. It is a film starring. No I got it. Robbie Amel Amel Robbie Amel and Robbie Amel Leighton Meester. Yeah. Is that right? Is that how you pronounce it? Speaking of tongues.

[00:31:44] Okay and it's not very good so moving on. A movie on freebie wasn't very good. Crazy. Robbie Amel is the lesser Amel. Is there another. Yeah and Steven Amel is not necessarily great. But Robbie It's the lesser of two weevils when the person who looks kind of sucks.

[00:32:03] Robbie is in a show I love. I love the show upload on Amazon. That's where he's dead right? Yeah. I love that show. I watched the first season of that. He is surprisingly good in that. I feel like that show is probably his personality

[00:32:17] just he's able to do it. He's also in code 8. I don't know if anyone does anybody watch code 8. That has both Amel's in it if you need to. What? I'm surprised. Steven Amel was Casey Jones in the Ninja Turtles sequel. Oh. The shitty ones. I don't know.

[00:32:32] I don't think they were shitty. No they were shitty. I've watched them a couple of times. Those movies are fucking terrible. The second one especially is absolute dog shit. I don't know. Hey what's it like on your pedestal? The second one has Casey Jones. Yeah it's oozy. Terrible.

[00:32:47] It makes zero sense whatsoever. But code 8 also not very good but there's a sequel coming. Code 9. Now it's code 8 part 2. See they can't even fucking titles right? Even 8 or something. Even 8. Code 8 part 2. 9. Red what's the last word you said? Hold on a second. We gotta keep going.

[00:33:07] Nate I don't... You actively went out of your way to watch this stupid fucking Christmas movie when you could have watched an action masterpiece known as The Rock. Alright, right. Hold on let me... What are you doing? You could have sat down with Finn and watched The Rock

[00:33:27] and he would have had a hell of a good time and you would have been dad of the week. Yeah cause he didn't love X-Mas either. I did watch the shitty movie with him and he's like I don't like it here.

[00:33:41] Ben said we could have watched The Rock. He didn't know that. I'll go Ben's house. He didn't know that was on the table. But... I'm gonna find a way to get him. I'm gonna do carrier pigeon. Let him know like... We will watch it.

[00:33:55] We will watch it over the holidays. Finn and I will watch The Rock and he will give me his opinions and I will bring them back to you. But listen, hey what season is it? It's Christmas season and I wanted to watch Christmas movie

[00:34:05] and this was a new one out and I watched it. It was an hour and a half how long is The Rock? It's probably four hours. Yep it's four hours. Brad what's the last movie you said about it? It's Christ. The last movie I saw I actually...

[00:34:15] I took some advice that we had on the last podcast Okay. And I re-watched Office Christmas Party. Okay. Oh yeah. It's better than I remember. It is. I do think that the third act still... Sure, it's not perfect. Yeah it becomes a little too like

[00:34:29] oh okay it's getting away from the party and what not absurd in the best way. When that actor you know that plays the businessman that's trying to oppress does the coke and swings from the thing. It's fucking great. Yeah. No there's some really funny stuff there's...

[00:34:43] I honestly hadn't seen it since I saw it in theaters and I remember thinking that it was okay and so I never like went back to re-watch it. I love Jason Bateman. I'm glad I did and I'll probably like re-watch it at least once every Christmas

[00:34:52] because it's very funny and my mom watched it actually too and she enjoyed it so... Well your mom loves coke. Oh my god she does at least one eight ball a day. She's down to one. Yeah. Down to what? She's getting better

[00:35:05] but no I liked Office Christmas Party so... You know eight ball... It makes me happy. Eight ball two the sequel, nine ball. Part two. Nah I fucked that up sorry. I also watched a movie that was assigned to me by my good friend Nate Lauches

[00:35:20] and when my friends assigned me movies I always watch them. Because it is the season... You don't. You don't always watch them. You're lying. You don't always watch them. He's never missed one. He's missed many of them. Fred's never missed one. Thank you man.

[00:35:31] And yeah so I respect Nate and I watch the movie that he assigned to me. Wait a minute. I mean if we're going on... Wait a minute. Wait a minute. That feels like a thing on me. Go on. Son of a... No I'm... He doesn't respect me.

[00:35:44] Yeah but that's an insult to you. I know that's why I said it. No. No because you deserved to be respected. I know but you brought this in there so this is really... No but I'm insulting Nate for insulting you. Alex who got offended there?

[00:35:54] Who should be offended by it? Very sure it's Ben. I think it's Nate. I don't know how I'm offended by it but yeah I'll go with him. Anyway. I watched the Sean the Sheep movie. Yes. Which Ben surprisingly has seen. Yes but we actually had a whole conversation

[00:36:10] that Ben apparently loves Ardman Animation. This is the company that made the movie. They're a British based stop motion animation company responsible for Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, and Sean the Sheep. And Sean the Sheep was actually based on a TV

[00:36:23] show that it was also a stop motion animated comedy. One thing I didn't realize about this I heard the movie was good but I did not realize that it was a movie where the characters don't really talk. Yeah I'm sorry I knew you wouldn't like it.

[00:36:35] No no I actually really liked it because of that because it was... The fact that it is an hour and a half movie and it's very funny and very clever and it was able to sustain itself without having the characters talk. I actually really appreciate it.

[00:36:46] It's an achievement at that point. The human characters when you hear them talk they kind of say like they make sounds that sound like they could be real words but it's like Sims talk basically kind of like gibberish but it's... Hey you my hello. But it's in...

[00:37:00] Ben loves the Sims. Hey look at me boobies I'm female and British and you should love me. Oh no baby's voice is back I guess. Yes sir. He's doing his British voice again. British women. But no these... Oh Jesus. Blanket statement. Bring one up.

[00:37:18] Alex bring up your favorite British woman right now. Florence Pew. Don't like her. Florence Pew. Florence Pew? Don't like her. Yeah you do. I'm not like you want to do it with me. Anyway Florence Pew came in talking like that you wouldn't even know what to do.

[00:37:35] So this is... I really like the fact that the characters didn't really talk and the comedy comes from a lot of physical stuff, very clever things. It was a super enjoyable... I like this British style of humor especially in this form even their family friendly movies.

[00:37:51] It's not filled with the same kind of stupid childish humor that is typically found in US family films. US sucks. Like illumination entertainment. They're not doing a lot of super clever stuff in illumination entertainment movies and that's why I love art and animation is because their comedy

[00:38:07] like works for adults and kids. And yeah it's just really charming, super adorable, very funny and I like that a lot. Good. Yeah right it was very good. Hey Ben do your Emily Blunt impression. Oh my name's Emily Blunt and I love seeing the guy with the office.

[00:38:25] What? I love seeing the guy with the office. He's really good. He's got a soft cock. Are all the British women that you know old? It's a terrible accent. This is such a weird hill for him to die on. I know it really is because it's not a

[00:38:40] terrible accent. Interesting fun fact about artman entertainment. The clay that they use it's a specific kind of clay it's called Plasticine. It's made at only one place. And now they're running out of it because they come... That factory is closed. So now art and animation is kind of

[00:38:54] in trouble and they have to figure something out. They should make some more. I'm sure they'll figure out something. They should make some more. I would solve the problem. Okay. Wow. You know what? I would just solve that problem. Yeah, they gotta solve it. Just make some more.

[00:39:10] Just gotta make some more clay for artman animation. I also watched another movie earlier this week. I went to it was technically a press screening even though it was also a fan event screening for the Hunger Games the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This is...

[00:39:27] You put a thumbs down and you put it right back up because I was pleasantly surprised. Let me tell you. If there was one movie... He loves Jennifer Lawrence though. She's not in the movie. She's not in it. That's what I'm saying. Not at all.

[00:39:40] The one thing that would redeem the film is not in the film. Yeah. And so this is a movie where I didn't care because I was like, A, I don't think the Hunger Game needs a prequel and B, it certainly doesn't need one about President Snow.

[00:39:54] And I didn't read... I don't even know who that is. I didn't even read the book. I read the first four Hunger Games books or the first... or the 300 Games books. Three? Yeah, that's what the... I never saw the second movie though. Part two of the finale?

[00:40:08] Yeah, I never saw it. It's pretty good. There's a sequel coming soon. Mocking J3. I was not remotely excited or interested. Didn't care. I went to see it because I knew it was going to be big for a slash from the coverage just to be in the know.

[00:40:22] I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. This is a rare prequel that doesn't try and do a lot of like stupid winking and nodding like, hey, remember this? This talks about Hunger Games and there's some ties to it. It does such a great job.

[00:40:36] We got some games. They're pretty hungry. Of leaning into the relevancy that Hunger Games has fallen into a bit more because when Hunger Games first came out, things were a lot better and then things got worse. And then those movies and books kind of became

[00:40:51] a little more relevant for younger generations and things like that because there was a lot of ties to stuff that was happening in our society and government. And so this one kind of leans into that more because of how it focuses on snow

[00:41:05] and how this character who seems like he could have some redeeming qualities and maybe has some good about him is just a piece of shit. And he's played so well by Tom Blythe and Rachel Zegler is outstanding in this movie. My God, she was in the

[00:41:22] West Side Story we make directed by Spielberg. She's phenomenal in this movie. The production design in this movie is really cool. It has this retro-futurist style where it feels like it takes place in 1960s Berlin but it also has that dystopian feel about it as well.

[00:41:37] Jason Swartzman as Stanley Tucci's ancestor as one of the flickerman. That was the one thing that in the trailer I'm like, oh they really could be... He has some incredibly darkly comedic moments that had me laughing out loud in the movie.

[00:41:54] But no, if I had a big complaint about this movie is it's two and a half hours and you really feel it in the back half. After the first hour and a half I was like, oh we're wrapping things up and I looked at my thing

[00:42:04] and I was like nope, we got one more hour to go and it feels a little bit slower and some of that is because from what I understand the structure of the book and how the story plays out and so it's hard to adapt

[00:42:16] in a traditional three act kind of way. But it wouldn't have been enough where they could split it into two movies? No and honestly one of the things they talked about on the press tour director Francis Lawrence has said if he could do it over again

[00:42:26] he would not split Mockingjay into two parts because he thinks that it really kind of hurt the story and it wasn't a good idea. So he didn't want to do that this time. And honestly if they did the second movie would have been... Porn gets fucked.

[00:42:38] Yeah, it just wouldn't have worked. Oh there's a lot of walking? So this is just a standalone film they're not going to make a sequel or anything? There are no plans to a sequel and because this is based on a book there isn't another book yet.

[00:42:48] If Suzanne Collins wanted to write another book she easily could. There's enough space here between this movie and the Hunger Games that there's a lot more story they could tell. And honestly I would be interested in seeing what happens and what else there is to go on.

[00:43:01] But yeah, if this is all it is and what it turns out to be perfectly fine with that it was very satisfying. I think it's really really good. I liked it. There you go. So there you go. Alright. Ben? Hi. Did you see anything? I did.

[00:43:20] I watched the... I watched the... I'll just try the Foggy Mountain Boys. Foggy Mountain Boys. And the Sagi Banna Boys. This is very good. I am a man of constant treasure. I can see them doing that in that film too. I love it. Yeah, it was...

[00:43:38] Obviously we talked about it. But then my buddy Brad gave me a Brian and Charles. Yes. Which I had never heard of. I had never even... literally had to look up what the fuck you get. I thought, is this... Are you fucking with me?

[00:43:53] Is it a made up movie? But no, it's a real movie guys. And it was... You're the fourth person to see it. Exactly. I don't... People that I've never heard of that I've never been in anything else. No, I'm sure they have been.

[00:44:05] But it's a story of an inventor who is a bad inventor. He... For example, he's in a convenience store early on in the movie and he's just a doddering kind of silly guy and he takes himself seriously as an inventor and he's very optimistic.

[00:44:20] Well, the next one's going to be the thing. The next one's going to be the thing. And he wears... like... If you threw a net into the water to catch fish, he puts them on his shoes and now he's got shoe nets to catch things.

[00:44:35] Like it's just really bad things, right? But he accidentally invents AI. And this being with the body of a washing machine and a mannequin head Oh I've seen... Okay, yeah. It comes to life basically. And it basically becomes like father-son stuff because he doesn't have a family.

[00:44:53] He's a single guy. He's kind of a hermit. He lives alone. And he lives in a very small town and there are like local town bullies and he's ostracized. He's not very good with the ladies obviously. But he starts developing this relationship with trying to teach Charles

[00:45:09] how to behave and how to grow and how to learn. And then there's the typical adolescence like I want to travel. I want to do... I want to travel. I want to go. And he's like, no, you've got to stay here. But I want to go.

[00:45:22] I want to go. Why can't I go? And it's very much... Charles the robot talks in like a very speaking spell kind of way. Yeah. Oh, can I go to the market with you? And he's like, no, you can't see me. I would like to get some gum.

[00:45:33] Can I please have... Can I please have... Can we go? He's adorable. Charles is fantastic. But he is. He's basically... He turns into kind of a petulant child that runs away or wants to run away. Yeah. And he gets kidnapped by the town bullies.

[00:45:48] And then so Brian has to go save him. And there's a girl and it just... It's a beautiful, beautiful movie. It really is. I wish that they would have gotten there a little sooner. It was just slightly hard. Like the first I'd say 20 minutes

[00:46:03] like what am I watching? Like I know this is my sign movie. So I'm going to sit through it but not a lot happening. And it's just... It's not like British humor level of like dry enough where it's mockumentary style. And it's funny.

[00:46:16] What did the female character sound like? That's funny. But no, it was very much like this... What am I... What's the point of this? But then once Charles comes to life then that... Man, it picks up so much. Yeah. And it's just such a great...

[00:46:34] It's a feel good film. It's all the things you want it to be. I really appreciate you're designing me. I really enjoyed it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, because I really liked... This was a Sundance movie and I hadn't heard David Earl as the main guy.

[00:46:44] He plays Brian. And so what's cool about this is actually is the concept of Brian and Charles. So it was a short film before this but then in addition to that they actually did comedy shows where... Really? Yeah, where Charles was like a character on stage and they...

[00:47:00] Be a guy in the washing machine body and everything like that. Yeah, but on top of that they also did live robot voice stuff. Sure. And so like it was really cool. I actually... I want to go to Hawaii. Right. If you go to slashfilm.com

[00:47:12] or you go to Google and just type in Brian and Charles interview slashfilm you'll see I talked to the director of the movie and David Earl about the movie and like the history of the characters and that kind of stuff. There's a lot of surprising clever moments. There's...

[00:47:26] Especially towards the end. I was actually very surprised by a few things and I was very happy. Yeah, it's a very enjoyable movie. I haven't seen it. It's available on Amazon Prime right now and it's worth watching. And I feel like you can definitely watch it

[00:47:37] with your kids. Oh yeah, absolutely. There's nothing crass about it or anything like that. Yeah, no. It's a very family friendly. Yeah. Nate, I would suggest you watch it with fan. I think you guys would like it a lot. It is.

[00:47:47] I got a head on a washing machine. Honestly, it's exactly how it sounds. You made my body of a washing machine. I did. I did make your body of what? He just agrees with me the whole time. You hid. You hid. You did such a good job hiding.

[00:48:03] I did. I did. I did. So cool. Very cute. And with Finch, yeah. Did we bring this film? You bring us film up a little bit? You might have talked about this film when we talked about Finch. Let's get a chance.

[00:48:17] I remember you talking about this film before. I think, I don't know if we were podcasting when I saw Brian and Charles during Sunday. Finch would be the post-apocalypse sad version. It sounds like it. My version. This is the Nate Lauch's version. Finch.

[00:48:33] Brian and Charles is the Bern, is the Bancanox version for sure. Nobody dies. It's a few, no, not only that, nobody even almost dies except for maybe somebody that hasn't ever lived. I'm not gonna go for a walk and ponder my existence.

[00:48:47] I mean honestly after you watch Brian and Charles probably cause it's fucking you. Sad boy, just a sad boy. I'm a sad boy. I am a man that loves some trailers. And you watch them with your friends. And then record a fun podcast about them.

[00:49:11] I don't feel like they're on the song anymore. No, but he did it like he's on Netflix. But you did start it and I was really proud of you right there. Does anybody know that song Beyond the Refrain anyway?

[00:49:22] I'm a man of constant sorrow and then makes a fault. And then something else. And then something else. Good job Ben. You didn't even have to force me to do that. I'm so proud of you. Yeah, I tried my best. You are just a treasure.

[00:49:31] You're learning every day just like Charles. Yeah, foggy bottom. Here we go. So yeah, we did watch a couple trailers. Which one would you like to? Let's start with the Mabel web. Mabel. That's what the name was. Which one is it? Honestly, I never even...

[00:49:46] Maybe I didn't hear that they were making that. Hold on, Nate. You didn't hear about the fact that they're making a new movie based on an obscure Spider-Man character named Madame Web. Madame Web. I did not hear that but...

[00:49:58] Wait, are you saying this is from the same studio that brought you Morbius? Oh, it absolutely is. Not only the same studio, I think the same writer. I forget. I don't know. I'm not sure if anyone's writing these movies. I think it's computers.

[00:50:09] Well, it couldn't have been the exact same writer because they didn't have a scene where blood from a spider fell into her blood to give her spider powers. And as we know in the Sony universe, that's how all your powers come from.

[00:50:21] But you know what we were gifted with? We were gifted with this wonderful line of dialogue that I'm just going to read that the internet absolutely ran with and turned into the best new meme in a long time. And that line of dialogue is,

[00:50:32] he was with my mom in the Amazon when she was researching spiders right before she died. Yeah. A real sentence in this trailer. Good God. If you haven't watched the Madame Web trailer, please take the time to do it. It is a laugh riot.

[00:50:45] This is a movie that is based on a character who was found in Spider-Man comics. This character has the ability to see the future and then adjust whatever she does. Played by Dakota Johnson. The web. Survive that outcome and make it better.

[00:50:59] There's a very final destination vibe to this movie. And yet they chose a very sexual song. What's that song, Ben? I don't even know what the song is. But it's a very sexual song they went with which pulled like 50 shades of gray vibes. Just because Dakota Johnson said.

[00:51:14] Honestly, so I'm like, what are they doing here? Is this the fourth 50 shades of gray movie? All right, let me give you the list of films that the writer Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless have written and tell me if you've seen any of these films.

[00:51:29] Starting with 2014's Dracula Untold. Did you guys see that? I did not see it. Yeah, people love that movie. Some people do. I remember it. Did you see Dracula Untold? Hold on, I do remember in Dracula Untold there was a great line.

[00:51:44] He was with my mother in the Amazon right before she was bitten by that spider or whatever. In Transylvania. Oh, bats. Yeah, bats. She was the transylvania researching bats before she died. Dracula Untold is the prequel to Morbius. It explains how those bats get in that thing.

[00:51:58] I haven't even heard of this film. It stars Luca Vince Dominic Cooper, Sarah Goodong. Yeah. It's like... Have you really seen this film? Oh yeah. It's like superhero Dracula. If you wanted Dracula to be a superhero, this was how you would get there. Yeah.

[00:52:12] All right, then they also wrote, by the way it has a 25% of rotten tomatoes. No way. Generous. They also wrote The Last Witch Hunter. Have you heard of that? Vin Diesel. Vin Diesel. That's a Vin Diesel project. My boy. That's based on his D&D character

[00:52:28] for when he was in high school. That's true. Is that really? I'm gonna love all these movies I can already tell. I love it, man! What about the next film they wrote was Gods of Egypt? Ooh, yuck. Is that with Joel Edgerton? Yeah.

[00:52:41] Oh wait, is that was like a clash of the Titans rip off? No, this is with Chadwick Boseman, Brenton Thwaites and Nicolai Costa Waldo. What's the one I'm thinking about, Brad? The one that you're thinking of is... Alexander, no. No, that's the one with Angelina Jolie. Yeah.

[00:52:57] What's the one with Pechelow? No, shit, what is the one? This one though, just Christian Bales in it too. This one was made in 2016. Gods of Egypt. No, hold on. I didn't know Chadwick Boseman was in this. Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Gods of Egypt.

[00:53:11] I'm trying to find it now. Hold on. Brad and I know of a movie that I just said. Exodus, Gods and Kings. Okay, that's what I thought this was. Yeah, I think that's what I was thinking of too.

[00:53:19] So this is a different movie from Exodus, Gods and Kings. Yes, correct. Yeah, like I said it has like Nikolai... The guy from Game of Thrones. Nikolai Kosterwalda. Thank you. Nikolai Volkov. Oh, it has Jerry Butts in it. Breton Thwaites. Yeah, he plays... Chadwick Boseman.

[00:53:33] He plays one of the Gods of Egypt. Rufus Sule. Rufus Sule, yeah. Wow. Jeffrey Rush. It made... It had a budget of $140 million to make this film. Bet your ass it did. And it has it. And it was all on the screen. And it has 15% on Rotten Tomatoes.

[00:53:48] And then actually the 2017 Power Rangers, they wrote that one. Oh, that makes sense. Okay. Now we're getting into it was over, yeah. Yeah, and then they didn't really do much for that. No. Until 2022. Well I imagine it's because they've been

[00:54:02] biding their time waiting for Madame Web to rise up. They did a film before that. Morbius. Morbius, yeah. I saw Morbius in theater. Am I the only person here who saw Morbius in theater? I did not. You are. This reminds me of a family guy bit

[00:54:14] where Chris Griffin walks out of no way out and just says, how does he keep getting work? This movie looks like a silly goose. It really does. Much like Morbius, it feels like a movie they got lost in 2005.

[00:54:30] And they found it and are like, oh, let's put this out. We don't have to do much to finish this. We have a universe where we don't get to see what Batgirl. But we get to see this. Yeah, exactly. Not to show this one. Yeah.

[00:54:43] There's two different spider women in this. I'm pretty sure there's three. The third one has a different spider name. What a tangled web weave. When first we practiced two, three of you. Yeah, because Dakota Johnson is Madam Webb. She doesn't go by Spider Woman.

[00:55:00] Yeah, Sidney Sweeney, who is fine. I forget what her alternate name was. She's Julia Carpenter, Spider Woman. No, no, no. It's two Spider Women. And then Ben didn't know her name. So he called it like Sugar Bottom or something. I don't remember what it was.

[00:55:12] And then Celeste O'Connor is also Spider Woman. Celeste O'Connor of Ghostbusters Afterlife. And then Isabella Merced. Yeah, she's from Transformers The Last Night and then Dora the Explorer. From Merced. It is also a Spider Man, but she is the spider woman. It's also a Spider Man.

[00:55:28] Yeah, Spider Woman. Ariana Huffington. Ariana Grande. Also a spider. Who was the bad guy in this? That was like a knockoff Oscar Isaacs. That was when Ezekiel Sims is the bad guy. He's got all sorts of spider stuff going on. Yeah, but he does.

[00:55:46] But he doesn't have a bad guy suit. And he had a bad guy suit in this one. Yeah, his bad guy suit is like Murder Spider Man. Well, it was like somebody found a Spider Man suit and off the lot. Yeah, and then hot topic it up.

[00:56:00] Like we put Nisgulis Cage in this in the late 90s because he was almost Spider Man. And now we found it again. Like the low rent Pedro Pescal. I go by Pedro Pescal. I don't get that. What you just did? I don't know. Are they? Piss.

[00:56:16] So are they going to pull all the threads on this? The web, do you mean? Yeah, all the threads of the web together into like a Sony Super There's No Spider Man or a Sprappist Gansa. I mean, I think that the idea that Sony has

[00:56:30] is that they would like all this stuff to be connected to where Tom Holland Spider Man can exist in the MCU but also has a place in their Spider Man universe. And I don't necessarily know how. If I was Tom Holland, I would not

[00:56:42] want to space in that universe. No, no, definitely not. Please keep me out of your Dakota Fanning universe. That'd be great. Dakota Johnson. Either one. Either one. But yeah, I just don't know. Craven the Hunter get pushed back? It did. OK, as you say. Because of the strike.

[00:56:57] OK, so this comes out before Craven the Hunter now. I found Morbius to be good bad. I expect Craven the Hunter to be good bad as well. Like it was bad but it was enjoyable to watch at the time. I did not enjoy anything about Morbius at all.

[00:57:09] I saw it with Jack and we had a lot of fun and he paid for it. That was the caveat. I'll go. I suppose if I was, I don't know. Highest fuck. Having sexual intercourse with the hottest woman in the world

[00:57:21] while watching Morbius, I might enjoy it as well. I don't know. You'd last longer. That's probably true because I would just be sitting there thinking what the fuck's going on in this movie? Oh, that's right. I'm having sex. Oh my god.

[00:57:33] Why is Jared Leto climbing the entire state building? No, no, wait. Stop it. You're having sex. That wasn't even to promote Morbius. I just want Jared Leto to not get cast in anything else ever again. I'd be fine with that. Yeah. I'm going to Neil Hirsch.

[00:57:48] Does Neil Hirsch get cast in anything? He just hasn't done much lately, I don't think. I feel like he does like popsicle commercials. I don't like it. What's your problem with him? I don't know. I saw him early on in a couple of things

[00:58:02] that I just don't like him. Neil Hirsch, I don't have strong opinions about him because he's got just a forgettable face. Yeah. But good. Apparently, he's kind of a dickhead. But Jared Leto, I'm pretty sure, might be leading a cult. No, he definitely is. Yeah.

[00:58:16] But more power to him. Good for him. It's hard to get people organized to do anything these days. Have you seen these union strikes? All right. Well, that's fun. This movie does come out February. Oh, it's a Valentine's movie. Yeah, it's 50 Shades of Grey again.

[00:58:32] It's for the lovers out there. We also watched the first trailer for a new movie that's coming out by the name of Garfield. And this is about President Garfield. And his. I would see a movie on President Garfield. I'd love it.

[00:58:46] I would see a movie where Garfield was president. OK, yeah. Garfield for president? Yeah, Garfield the Cat. No taxation without lasagna. This is a new, now we're talking. This is a new animated movie about Garfield, The Orange Cat. Now who did they get to do the voice?

[00:59:04] Because honestly, you got to get somebody that just is just a disappears into the role. And I'm glad you said that because they got somebody who is very well known for doing outstanding voice acting. OK. They're a chameleon in this art form. Holy shit.

[00:59:20] Yeah, you never would have recognized those voice. I mean, Bill Murray, it was an indelible Garfield. Absolutely. That's the voice that I think of when I think of Garfield now. Yeah, as well you should. So they brought in a heavy hitter by the name of Chris Pratt. What?

[00:59:36] Yeah, to play Garfield. Wow. I know. You live in a world where not only it's a me, Mario, and now hi, I'm Garfield. And that's my Chris Pratt. Hate it all you want? My kids love the Mario movie. Cool. I had no problems with the Mario movie.

[00:59:54] I mean, I had problems with it. But I'll sit through it again in about a week. His voice acting board didn't take me out of the movie or anything. It was fine. That wasn't my problem with the movie. I just saw the trailers where he was like.

[01:00:03] I think his voice acting was actually better than I thought it would be. In Garfield or Super Mario? Super Mario. His voice acting was definitely better than just from this trailer. But I hated everything about this trailer, so I probably shouldn't. I'm sorry.

[01:00:13] You hated everything about this trailer? Pretty much. Did you see the part where he ate lasagna? No, they teased it. But then he ate pizza instead of food he's not known for. You must have blacked out for part of it. Because he definitely ate lasagna.

[01:00:26] He had a whole tray of lasagna. Garfield's a dick. Garfield? He's a rascal. No, he's a dick. He's a rascal. He's a selfish asshole. And John Arkobel, he deserves love. That's all he wants. And just Garfield constantly just being a little asshole. How did this happen?

[01:00:43] Like no seriously. Who needed a like there are Garfield movies. This will make money. I know how. That's what I'm saying. Like who? I think it's mostly because who is going to see it? Jim Davis have a cult. Right. They haven't made a Garfield movie in almost 20 years.

[01:01:04] And there are still people driving around with Garfield stuck to their windows. So it's like it is a universal brand. No, it is. People love Garfield. I mean I like Garfield fine. I just am shocked. The only thing that's bringing me maybe that this film might come together

[01:01:19] is the writer and directors are the same ones that did. Morbius. Nope. Wouldn't that be great? They did the Emperor's New Groove, which I think is great. Impossible. And they did Chicken Little, which I think is another good film. And so you like Chicken Little?

[01:01:36] Yeah, I like Chicken Little. Fuck. Chicken Little bitch. I mean the music from the beginning when he was a kitten like that whole scene was so weird and the music was really strange. And then like strange Garfield origins

[01:01:53] because if there was the one question we need to answer where did Garfield come from? Make me sad about Garfield. I was and it was so long of a build up. And then it goes from that. He turns it from zero to a thousand.

[01:02:06] It was like the whole pizza. I'm going to eat everything. What the fuck just happened? Well Garfield's very hungry. Oh my god. His dad's the size of a refrigerator. Like the proportions were really off. And that what? He has an absentee dad like what mythology for Garfield

[01:02:23] is this? That why would there was no normal and like. Well they're saying normal. If you needed someone to oppose. We don't know they'll be no normal. But also it's like the dad is now in his life and the only thing we see about him is him

[01:02:37] physically kicking him up. Yeah. Who was voicing? He's clearly a dick. So who was voicing John do you know? Nicholas Holt. There was that Nicholas Holt I was wondering. But we've got Hannah Waddington or Hanna Waddingham is in the film, Ving Reims, Cecily Strong, Brett Goldstein

[01:02:56] and Bo and Yang are characters as well. So we'll see what they play. Oh Bo and Yang has got to be voicing normal. And if he's not I'm gonna be pissed. I might come back around if there's anything. Not gonna lie.

[01:03:08] Here's the thing, I don't think Chris Pratt's voice fits Garfield as a character. Doesn't at all. And I'm not a Pratt hater but this does not fit. But I'm hesitant to like completely write it off though because if they're doing a different take on Garfield

[01:03:23] to move away from the dryness that has defined Garfield for so long, that's fine because the voice of Lorenzo Music in the original animated series and the voice of Bill Murray, they both shared similar takes on Garfield. They gave him a very dry personality.

[01:03:38] Almost sarcastic a little bit. Yeah. Fun fact. That's a good idea. I don't want lasagna. Fun fact, Lorenzo Music voices Garfield in the animated series and then Bill Murray voices him in the movies. Bill Murray plays Venkman in the Ghostbusters series and Lorenzo Music voices Venkman

[01:03:54] in the real Ghostbusters animated series. So is that the one that does it in like the holiday special as well? Yes. Okay, that's one of my favorite because it's the grandma. Did you ever see that one? It's a very nice holiday special. I really like it a lot.

[01:04:06] And the grandma is really lonely and Garfield notices because Garfield is not a bad person. Oh, Garfield's a dick. He goes over there only to eat the lasagna. No, there's a heart though. There's a heart in there. Yeah, Garfield is... Oh, he gets the lasagna.

[01:04:16] Garfield is very selfish but then he learns lessons. Does Garfield suck? Eat more lasagna. Yeah, I just care about this movie but obviously it's not for me. You know, they're not saying what's the 34. It's gonna make 500 million. I grew up reading Garfield comics all the time.

[01:04:31] I used to love checking out the treasuries from the library and stuff. Did you watch the cartoon too? Yeah, I love the cartoon. Jim Davis is from Indiana. Yeah, it's true. Yeah, and isn't he like, he's gotta be like very old. He is old.

[01:04:43] I think he died actually. Did somebody come to him? No, we still live every day. Are they really? Oh, I thought he died. But it's like somebody came to him and they're like, okay, we're gonna do a Garfield movie. What territory haven't we explored yet with Garfield?

[01:04:56] And like... Baby Garfield. Yeah, baby Garfield. You know, there's a trend doing that recently because they did the same thing with Scoob. They animated Scoob movie that came out a couple years ago. There's nothing else to do unless you're gonna reboot it again.

[01:05:07] I just think that they have a tendency to like, they wanna create this new adorable moment of like, oh, I think it's like the baby Yoda syndrome really. It's like, oh, we wanna see little tiny versions of things because they're so cute. Well, I think...

[01:05:20] Do that with American Psycho. I wanna see young baby Patrick Bateman. They did. It's called Bates Motel. Ha ha ha. Also though, it's worth pointing out, it has been 20 years since a film has come out. Almost. Almost. Well yeah, I think 2006 is when... Yeah, the squeak wool.

[01:05:34] A tale of two kitties. I'm trying to imagine going home and going to my 12 year old, my 10 year old and my six year old and going, hey, do you guys wanna go see the newest Garfield movie? And them not laughing at me

[01:05:45] and then going, what and or who is Garfield, dad? My kids don't wanna see this. I thought you were gonna stop talking if you gave him your ages. I did not, but... I bet we got a hard time going for the words.

[01:05:55] We did see the trailer together, yes. And we always, whenever we go to a new film in the trailers, we have this thing where we do a thumbs up, thumbs sideways. Thumbs sideways means we'll watch it at home and thumbs down means we're not seeing it at all.

[01:06:08] And we didn't see this at the trailer recently but we do this when we watch it at home. Neither one of them wanted to go to the theater to see it, but they would maybe watch it if it was on the TV or something.

[01:06:19] Okay, Alex, your assignment is to go home and ask your kids if they wanna see the new Garfield movie and tell us what they say. In the theater, in the theater. If my children, if any of my children, of the three of them, I will be 100% honest

[01:06:33] about the results of this test. If any of my three children know who Garfield is as an existent IP character, I will buy four tickets to the Garfield film and give them away to charity because I still won't go to see it. But... That doesn't sound very charitable.

[01:06:53] I would be amazed if any of my kids really... I bet they've heard of Garfield. If he doesn't come out of a toilet on the YouTube and sing songs or like... They've not heard of Garfield. They've heard of Flintstones, right? If it hasn't been a skin in Fortnite...

[01:07:06] Okay. That's what they need to do. I bet you they will too. Of course. They'll have like a Sonya gun or something. Once again, I might get back on board. His signature movie, Kicking People Off Tables. Yeah. It's gotta be. It'll be amazing.

[01:07:19] It was like your character wakes up in Abu Dhabi. All right. So, Bill Murray's not... He's getting too old. They don't want to cast Bill Murray. Who do you cast as a big name in this role instead of Chris Pratt? Paul Giamatti. Big name. It's not a bad...

[01:07:33] Paul Giamatti. Oscar winner, Paul Giamatti. Do you think Paul Giamatti's gonna bring people out to the theater? You know who actually would be the perfect Garfield? Yeah. It's John Benjamin. That's not a bad choice either. Yeah, but again... Nick Offerman. Nick Offerman would be good. That would actually...

[01:07:49] That's a good choice. I like that. Tom Cruise. Well, who... When does Garfield come out, Nate? So everyone knows, put in their calendar? Uh... Garfield comes out May 24th. Hey, I do have a follow-up for you. Just the time from Memorial Day. Meowm Memorial Day. This is the...

[01:08:09] Go home. I have a question for you guys. Garfield doing pizza. If they don't say Meowm Memorial Day, I'm gonna be so pissed. I don't know why it's so funny. Brad really likes that joke. I thought it was just mine. That was pretty easy, but Brad,

[01:08:32] that really tickled his fender off. He's just got me right in there. Just Meowm Memorial Day got you going, huh? It's so good. I celebrate Catrin's name. She's trying to... He's almost in his giggle by the way. God, Brad open the only man that lasts

[01:08:54] harder at his own jokes than anything else he's ever laughed at. You know sometimes when there's gold, you just gotta receive it. That's what that is for sure. Yeah, leave that one in the litter box, okay? We're good. All right. Hey, I don't have a game for you,

[01:09:07] but I do have a trivia for you guys. That's kind of a game. Yeah. So excluding follow-ups, Garfield is the 11th fully CGI film to be based off a comic strip. Okay? What are the other ones? And see if we'll go through whoever can name the most.

[01:09:26] We'll say wins. Comic strip first. Fully CGI. It was a comic book strip, and now it's fully CGI, not animated. Well, it's been animated. Yeah, drawn or CGI. CGI, yeah, CGI. Not drawn, CGI. Computer graph. Wow, that's probably a pretty good question there.

[01:09:46] How many other ones have they been? This is the 11th? Yep, so 10. Wow, really? So starting in 2000, I'll give you this. The first one is in 2006. I'm starting... I think I'm having trouble trying to figure out if any of the movies I'm thinking of were comic strips

[01:10:04] and I just didn't realize they were comic strips. Okay, yeah, that's fine. What about you can give me... Heathcliff? Is there a Heathcliff? Yeah, I don't think Heathcliff got it. I don't think Heathcliff has gotten a CG movie yet. No.

[01:10:16] So was Alvin and the Chipmunks a comic strip? Because that's the kind of stuff I don't know. No, I don't think there was though. It is not on your... Marma Duke? Nope. No. Clifford? No. Rex Morgan MD? Those are books. Dick Tracy?

[01:10:35] Is there a Dick Tracy animated film? No, he said starting in 2006. I don't know! It's animated! Not this comic strip, the movie. No, no, I know. Dick Tracy came out in 1990. There could have been an animated one though. The CGI version of it is what he said. Spider-Man?

[01:10:48] We don't know that! Yeah, we do! Wait, wait, wait. I said Spider-Man. There's a Spider-Man comic. Which one? What? What? Which Spider-Man is CGI? Well, Into the Spider-Verse. Into the Spider-Verse? Okay, yeah. But that's not really a... No, that isn't a comic book character.

[01:11:03] That is a comic strip. You said comic strip. It is a comic strip. It is a comic strip. There is a comic strip. There is a comic strip. No, there's a Spider-Man comic strip. Yeah, but that's not based on that though. I mean it's probably not.

[01:11:14] It was a comic strip but it didn't... Spider-Man has a comic strip but the movie is not based on that comic strip. Wizard of Id? No. Ziggy. Nope. I'll give you one. The first one, over the hedge. What? That's a comic strip. Correct.

[01:11:33] It's based on a comic strip. Dennis the Menace. No, that was live action. Richie Rich. My name is well. Nope. Wow, this is tough. This is tough. Yeah. In 2007, a film that was... An animated... You know we get the premise, Nate. A Newsy strip. Dogwood? Dagwood. That's Blondie.

[01:11:59] Blondie. Dogwood, Dagwood, Blondie. Beal Baylor. Somebody's films though you've not... Wait, Garfield! It's true. He said this... I mean but that would be the love of them. Kathy? Did they make an act movie? No, alright. I'm just gonna give you guys this. Yeah, well... Hold on. Name, act.

[01:12:19] Do this. Do you have the director's handy? Action. Geez, no but I can look it up for you. Or the lead actor. Or the lead... Or the lead actor. Alright. Well these are voice actors, right? So, alright. I will give you the next one after over the hedge.

[01:12:33] Next one is a 2007 film directed by Kevin Monroe. And starring the voice acting skills of Chris Evans, Sarah Michelle Geller, Kevin Smith, Patrick Stewart, Dougal, Lawrence Fishburne. Not Dougal then. No wait, Lawrence Fishburne was the turn of the... No, no definitely not Dougal.

[01:13:00] Because Lawrence Fishburne famously fucking hates Dougal. He would not be caught dead in a fucking Dougal movie. You should have led with that name you piece of shit. Boondocks? What? No but I just love that Lawrence Fishburne was the Dougal killer.

[01:13:18] Nope, Larry would never stoop to fucking Dougal and I think that you know that. As if there's been a Dougal film. There is, there's a movie called Dougal. Keenan Thompson is the voice. I just don't know if Dougal is based on a comic strip.

[01:13:34] Sounds like it could be. Alright, the film is and it made a hundred million dollars of theater. What? What is going on here? TMNT. Oh, The Ninja Turtles movie. Is that based on a comic book though? Yeah it is.

[01:13:48] Nate doesn't know that it's a comic strip or a comic book. It is also a comic strip. But it's not based on the comic strips. It's also a comic book. No, it's not. No, comic strips are different than comic books. It is a comic strip though as well.

[01:13:59] But TMNT is not based on that comic strip. Let's do this. Let's do a new rule. If it's also a comic book, it doesn't count. Because that's where it clearly originated from. Yeah. This is all from Wikipedia. So take it or not Wikipedia. It's all from IMDb.

[01:14:13] So it is questionable. I know. But that's why this is going to be hard because. But it has to also be a... Okay, let's say this. Over the hedge though was not a comic book. I had no idea.

[01:14:24] Yeah, okay so it can be a comic book as well but like for instance I'm sure there are like there were no Iron Man comic strips. Correct. So TMNT, they were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic strips though. So it has to be also a comic strip.

[01:14:38] Does that make sense? I just don't know which ones were like comic strips. The only one I was aware of was Spider-Man. And that one was a lot more like a soap opera than it was like a... A comic strip. Okay. Mary Worth. Yeah, Dunesbury. Dunesbury.

[01:14:52] The next one I'm going to give you... Dilbury. Dilbury. No, Dilbury doesn't have a CG movie. No he's got a great animated show though. This one I think is legitimately a known comic strip. A comic strip, okay. This is a 2014 film. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

[01:15:07] Directed by Don Holland, Chris Williams. The Crudes. Starring the voice acting skills of Scott Adzit. Big Hero 6. Correct. Yeah, okay. I think that is actually a... I don't think Big Hero 6 was a comic strip. I think it was just a comic book.

[01:15:22] It is, I guarantee you a comic strip. I don't think that's true. I'm pretty sure these are all comic books because it's a Marvel comic. We did name a lot of comic strips though. I mean... None of them have had movies. None of them have had movies. Foxtrot.

[01:15:34] Maybe we... Yeah, maybe the game should be... Which comic strips need to be made into movies by the way? Well maybe we found... Honestly there's an untapped market there. That's what I'm saying. I would love to see a Foxtrot movie.

[01:15:44] I'd love to see like a two and a half hour Ziggy existential like Werner Herzog... Crisis Sample Act like... Exactly. ...examination of like the human soul. I can't believe Disney Plus hasn't made a Family Circus movie. Yeah that is odd isn't it?

[01:15:56] Yeah you would think that Jeffy would be all over that. Because there's enough... Not me! There's a new strip every day. Hey who killed this hooker? Not me! Jeffy hit rock bottom. You guys did miss I think the easiest one in here. I said Garfield.

[01:16:13] Nope, the Peanuts movie 2015. The Peanuts movie? Peanuts. They didn't make a Peanuts movie. They didn't make a Peanuts movie. It was terrifyingly animated. I've heard it's good. Terrifyingly. Yeah like it's like almost like photo realistic... The animation has like a different texture to it than you would expect.

[01:16:30] When you see the haunting look in Ziggy's eyes... What about Brad with this count for you as a comic strip? The 2019 Adams Family film. Yes because the Adams Family was a comic strip. They definitely was yeah. What about this one? What is it to be Ziggy?

[01:16:49] The 2022 film, the DC League of Super Pets. I don't think that was a comic strip. I think Super Pets might have been a comic strip. It was, yes. You don't know what you're talking about? I don't trust Nate with this either though. Is Ziggy man or God?

[01:17:05] The audience will decide. What about this one? Smurfs the Lost Village 2017. Smurfs was a comic strip. Yeah they all are. Well thanks for playing. This son of a bitch. I love you Nate. I love you too buddy. This was a lot of fun. We had a good time.

[01:17:22] Yeah it was fun. How about time, Rihanna? We're into it. We're now at 18. We're what? Hour 18. Has Ziggy gone to heaven or hell? Does he roast eternal or fly in heaven? This is for the audience to decide. So everyone get your tickets for Madame Web and Garfield.

[01:17:50] We're gonna have a big 2024. It's gonna be a huge. I can't wait. It'll be like a Barbenheimer kind of deal where you could mush them together and see them all in one big day. I'm a dress up as a normal.

[01:18:02] I do want another Gar Web Barbenheimer day of some two films. That was so electric. It was a lot of fun. I mean just two films that were just. Every year they should do that. Like one really dour movie and one really fun one. Same day.

[01:18:16] Everyone wants to see and I would love it. Alex Pappas thank you so much for being here. Thanks man. As always we love you. Nate working the people behind you. I live over here. Brad. Wow dark. No one cares about us. They just care about you.

[01:18:55] viral and were pretty popular where the Joker parody featuring David Harbour as Oscar the Grouch. The Casey Affleck Dunkin Donuts commercial. My favorite from like the last 10 years. Yeah one of my favorites for sure.
